I get why they decided to go with that direction, and I partially agree with them on the visual cohesion thing. however I still think the current approach is way too restrictive. if they had concerns over that, it could have been a bit nicer to have blank cape models that we could dye according to what we deem best. we already have enough animal masks and whatnot to come up with "goofy" outfits that can end up breaking immersion/cohesion, and they wouldnt really lose anything in that regard if people came up with their own designs

I’m being very silly.

But here; shattering in of itself is not meant to be a season that has a complex area, I don’t think it would’ve worked to not be in the void. The whole season is about remembering bits and pieces of creatures who are now dead / unable to be talked to directly. Such as the mantas, the crabs, and even the Eden crystal itself.

It being blank goes into that, there is only a fading memory of what was there and everything else is gone. You can’t see past the small little bits you remember - because the rest is gone, you are left with this feeling of being alone.

It’s very reminiscent of how actual amnesia / memory loss feels (I’m saying this as someone with extreme memory loss / amnesia) it is a very comforting area to me because of that.

Ohhh I was just gonna ask if you got to it yet! Yeah the cohesion and keeping part of the initial sentiment of cosmetics makes sense, but I do get why it feels like it's not quite enough. Some items are also much more flexible than others for dyeing so it makes me wonder what the differences are sometimes.

I guess we had a few after the radiance season that were designed with dyeing in mind, but it would still be really nice to see if the mechanic could be expanded further!

I was initially very hesitant about dyeing in general, I was one of the folks who did worry about suddenly seeing cosmetics completely differently from the original versions if people were to go at the complete opposite ends of the scale. I worried the cohesion within Sky would feel disconnected seeing bright pink pants for example, but I think after seeing how creative and cool players have been with dyeing, it's less of a concern for me personally now. So with that, I really hope we see more extravagant dyeing sections, maybe more dynamic ways to dye like instead of being restricted to gradient or full colour, we could control a bit more of how far our dye goes.

This is my stance, pretty much. I wish TGC didn't hesitate expanding on mechanics they've added in previous seasons. Radiance would benefit a lot from handing players more tools to customize. I understand your initial concerns though. My take would be that immersion is something that is supposed to hook people, not be a constant presence. Sky already caught me, some dips in that wouldn't harm it altogether. I also don't care for immersion in this game that much because in my experience when story took a backseat, systemic approach took the stage and I focused more on mechanical mastery so I could get what I want in a faster way, and reward myself by looking better in the process lol

That's a fair point, and actually I definitely feel like immersion in Sky is something that ebbs and flows at times because we get events that are inspired by real life stuff. It can be hard to stay immersed in a mystical kingdom of light and spirits when for example you're running around with a pumpkin on your head

I definitely agree allowing players some more freedom would be really neat, cause there's so many creative people and I'd love to see what they'd all do with more flexibility in dyeing!

I think it depends cause events for a while seem to have been separate entities to the main game in a way, especially ones like mischief that took place in office/cackling crab with tgc spirits rather than regular spirits. Though they've been incorporating spirits and storylines into events more and more over the years, I think to address the fact that events for a while were cosmetic-led and didn't have much to do outside of getting the items and leaving.

There still are a few like you mentioned that stand out though, even most recently I'd say the personality test was a little out-of-character for Sky. But also we can't dye any of the stuff from that event, which is sad cause I don't want green dog ears

I've found fresh air/cool water on your face can help. Herbal teas like chamomile too. A pet helps me most when I find myself in a flashback loop

what about if you try thinking up some good memories! maybe things like your first friend in sky or your favourite realm to hang out in?

I'd also recommend listening to some of your favourite music, something that usually relaxes you! there's also exercises you can try like when a thought comes you say "thank you for bringing that to my attention, but that doesn't help me right now" it might feel a bit silly at first, but you're essentially taking the power away from unhelpful thoughts by pointing out to yourself out loud that they're unhelpful
