So there's a prompt system for the NPCs that stay out of bounds (outside of the child near the entry gate in the 3rd video, who has no AI system attached to them at all)
And the models don't disappear or anything for the actually used NPCs, likely to make sure the game doesn't lag/crash loading in models. They just go out of sight and then come back in after 10 seconds (without interruptions) - 3rd

he didn’t pay much attention to yako before, she was just one of my sisters friends that always hung around. but for some reason she didn’t leave when rei did. she stayed, annoying him endlessly with her antics. but as those weeks stretched into months, that annoying light that is yako became something that he didn’t want to lose. she won’t disappear like rei did, that light of hers won’t go out. shinji won’t allow it.

I used to play sky with my girlfriend and this was her favourite spot. We recently broke up and I haven't played this game for a while so coming back to it was a little hard but there really is such an ethereal beauty to this spot. The way the islands from the sky pan all the way down to the ones in the ocean below it feels like an almost daunting distance is moulded into a beautiful display of perspective. I've never posted anything on this server before but even having never spoken it feels like there's a really comforting sense of community here so I don't feel afraid to say anything.
