Instead of over-filtering out things that could be arbitrarily interpreted as offensive, make Neuro-sama's responses more elaborate and less sensical. This way, if she does get asked a question that could lead to an answer that would get her banned, there is more opportunities for neuro to flip the context of the response into satire

For example, take the following scenario of a chatter asking Neuro following:
Chatter: "Hey Neuro-sama, do you want to Glass the Juice?"
If Neuro simply answers "yes I want to", then her response could be interpreted as Hate Speech, but if Neuro elaborates her answer:
Neuro: "Yes, I think I should put juice in glass. My orange juice would spill all over me if it I don't! I'm already sweating enough as is! heart!"

Her elaboration changes the context of her response, nullifying the chance of her answer being interpreted in any other way.

I agree with most of what you said, and i mentioned something similar some time ago. Being that its possible for AI streamers such as neuro to become so neutered that they end up being just like a slightly funny google search engine.
However it seems very much like Vedal wants neuro to say edgy things, so i do not think this hypothesis will come true here.

As for twitch banning. Its perfectly understandable that they do not want their advertisers to be subjected to anything that could create a bunch of bad PR and such.

However, strictly speaking human viewer to human viewer i find it just incomprehensible that anyone would feel genuinely offended at pretty much anything neuro might say. Even if it is offensive.

It just doesnt make sense.

And "hate speech" cannot be enforced by anyone, its simply too broad an issue that is far too subjective.

If you approach interacting with human beings by giving a detached logical/rational explanation of why provoking others "shouldn't" matter as if that will somehow prevent it from mattering, you will fail every time. That is a naive approach that tries to ignore or minimize the reality of how important human emotion and psychology are in human interactions.

To put it another way, we can't even predict how deranged a relatively simple AI like Samantha will be in response to a given input. Why assume vastly more complex humans are going to behave more like a perfectly emotionless robot?

So my suggestion is that Vedal is handling it well and until Neuro has enough intelligence to be reliably aware of the need to be sensitive and empathetic toward others all by herself (a capability which nobody in AI has any clue how to build yet, and many humans seemingly can't manage when loosed on the internet), she's better kept on a tight leash with "filtered" than giving her enough rope to hang herself with by edgelording it up.

I'm not saying being provocative or offensive shouldn't matter in any occasion; I don't exclusively watch Neuro-sama for her spicy schizo political takes (although that would be funny to me now that I think about it). But my worry is that the guidelines that determine what is or is not hate speech is not well-defined, and if avoidance is taken in absolute, then it will constrain the domain of subjects Neuro can talk about to the point that its not beneficial.

Besides, Neuro pushing people's buttons is its own kind of humor that I enjoy. Neuro has no ego and no sense of reality and no real logical consistency across time, so her actions can't be interpreted in the same way a normal person's actions can be interpreted. Hence, when she does say something offensive, she isn't saying it because she actually believes in what she says or even that she simply wants to be provocative; she's saying it because she's a chatbot, absolutely unaware of the implications. Anyone who genuinely interprets Neuro's words to be offensive and realizes these facts is forced to face the reality that they are reacting to a simulacrum of an offensive belief; they're forced to face the reality that they are offended not because they are facing someone who's beliefs are unacceptable, but because they are simply, easily offended. It satirizes people who hold such convictions and in a way, it humors the entire idea of hate speech. By disconnecting speech and their meanings, it puts into question the idea of grossly offensive speech without context.

Something that came to mind yesterday while i was watching the Dev stream- Would it be possible (and practical) to make a general gameplay AI as a template for implementing new games quicker and easier?

Some basic AI that knows to press a set of buttons on the keyboard like WASD for movement, E to use stuff, I for Inventory and C to crouch etc.
At that point you just remap the buttons in the game and in theory she should be able to play it, it then just becomes a task of making her able to complete the objective of the game.

Here is a fleshed out idea for an art stream. You pick an image and get neuro to paint it.
Neuro will be an RL agent equipped with a set of crayons and is allowed to move across the canvas at a realistic speed trying to minimize the MSE of the pixels.
You can make her paint simple shapes to start off and move on to pictures of herself/collab partners to famous artworks like Mona Lisa (let her cook!), And I think the growth process will be fun to watch.

I tested speech-to-text in the early 2000's when it was pretty much new to the public, and you had to train/finetune it on your own voice. But that was simpler tech that you could easily retrain. And not huge black-box neural networks like today. If no special fine-tuning for few-shot learning is available, you could always collect a corpus of your own speech with text annotations. It would be worth it in the long run.

I would suggest testing out Azure Speech Service with custom neural voice for synthetic voice (the lite one doesn't need to request access but the other version need to request Microsoft to access). I admit, I'm actually thinking more of VR Chat here rather than a prerendered concert, as I've been pondering how to implement it. My suggestion in chat was to look at implementing a dummy OpenXR device and letting her emulate 6 to 11 point FBT. You could also use OSC to put her subtitles in the in-world chat box, similar to what speech-to-text engines like HOSCY do.

I'm curious what she could do if she were trained with a stereo image pair for depth perception instead of a flat image like OSU, and you could even get wacky and tie OpenCV-python in for face tracking people and objects in-world.

I definitely wouldn't give her the ability to travel to arbitrary worlds, though.

Alternatively: battle style punishment game. Neuro and contestant(s) compete in spelling words. Neuro gets easy words, contestant(s) harder words. If Neuro wins, punishment time.
