why do you give bluffs to the old demon? i feel like a sequence of demon decides on swap or not -> if not, learns bluffs / if so, goes to sleep and new demon learns bluffs isn’t all that unreasonable runtime-wise and makes more sense
the bluffs give an additional level of support to the original demon and still require them to do the Demon-y action of getting their bluffs out to their team, just with a lot less weight on their shoulders
i don't mind people running the swap pre-bluffs however, and if you do so let me know how it goes

The biggest support is losing pressure of denonhood not bluffs

also, just to add, in my experience most irl games will usually see most evil players going for bluffs before they get a chance to chat with their team
that's why the Demon gets the bluffs. It's not just that they're distributing the bluffs, they are often the only player with bluffs
and that makes things a lot worse for them if the Demon isn't the 1 player with bluffs

Mimic (Outsider)
The Mimic kills those that choose them, unbeknownst to even themself.
- The Mimic draws a Townsfolk token from the bag, but is secretly the Mimic.
- The Mimic has the ability of the Townsfolk they think they are.
- Each night except the first, the Townsfolk who most recently chose the Mimic with their ability, dies.
- This includes Townsfolk who choose during the day.
HOW TO RUN
While setting up the game, before putting character tokens in the bag, replace the Mimic token with a Townsfolk character token. Add the IS THE MIMIC reminder token to the Grimoire. Put the swapped Townsfolk character token in the bag, and not the Mimic token.
While preparing the first night, put the Mimic's IS THE MIMIC reminder token by any Townsfolk character token—they are now the Mimic, but still have that Townsfolk's ability. They do not know they are the Mimic.
Whenever a Townsfolk chooses the Mimic, whether at night or during the day, mark them with CHOSEN reminder.
Each night, except the first, the Townsfolk marked CHOSEN dies.
EXAMPLES
On the second night, the Monk chooses the Mimic. The Monk dies that night.
Ciara the Mimic thinks they are the Banshee. On the second night, the Xaan is poisoning all Townsfolk. That night, Ciara is killed by the Demon. All players learn that the Banshee has died.
On the first night, John the Dreamer chooses the Mimic. On the second night, Ray the Gambler chooses the Mimic, then Esther the Cerenovus chooses the Mimic. Ray dies.

Fletcher (Loric)
The Fletcher is rotated at night to choose who gets an effect the next day.
- The Fletcher token is placed in the Town Square, with the icon pointing to a player's life token of the Storyteller's choice.
- Each night, the Storyteller announces an effect.
- This effect may be anything, and may be helpful or unhelpful.
- Players who wake that night may rotate the Fletcher's token to the next clockwise life token, once, twice, or thrice.
- At dawn, the player whose life token the Fletcher points at, has that effect from now on.
HOW TO RUN
While setting up the game, place the Fletcher's token in the centre of the Town Square, pointing at a player's life token of your choice.
Each night, decide an effect and announce it to all players.
That night, whenever a player wakes, they may rotate the Fletcher's token to point at the next clockwise player's life token one, two, or three times.
At dawn, mark whichever player the Fletcher points at with the EFFECT reminder—they have that effect.
It is a good idea to add a timeframe, such as "until dawn", to effects you announce. This makes it easier to run each effect and helps with game balance.
EXAMPLES
The Storyteller announces the effect that the neighbors of the player the Fletcher points at are sober and healthy that day and night. The good team attempts to point the Fletcher at the Empath who learned a 0, but the Demon moves it past them when awake that night.
Tonight, the Fletcher's effect is that the player the Fletcher points at must declare the evil character they are, or if they are not one, any evil character. That dawn, the Fletcher points at the Imp, who declares they are the Imp. The next night, the Storyteller announces the same effect. That dawn, the Fletcher points at the Steward, who declares they are Baron.
The Fletcher's effect is that the player they point at gains the Fisherman's ability. The Fletcher points at the Cerenovus, who gets the advice to tell the Kazali to not kill Ruth the Banshee.

The Paladin protects all but two.
- Each night except the first, the Paladin chooses two players.

Lab Rat (Outsider)
Lab Rats mutate unknown Outsider abilities into other players.
- If a Lab Rat dies, tonight, another player becomes a Lab Rat.
- Lab Rats created through the Lab Rat's ability have the ability of a not-in-play Outsider.
- They have that ability in addition to their own Lab Rat ability.
- Lab Rats cannot have the same extra ability as another Lab Rat.
- Lab Rats do not know which Outsider ability they have.
- Starting Lab Rats do not have any additional abilities.
- Any player (except for Lab Rats themselves) can become a Lab Rat, regardless of if they are good, evil, alive, or dead.
HOW TO RUN
If a Lab Rat dies, mark them with the MUTATION TONIGHT reminder.
During that night, turn the character of any player (not a Lab Rat) into a Lab Rat, and inform that player of this. Place a not-in-play Outsider token next to that player—they have that ability, but do not know this.
EXAMPLES
Brian is the starting Lab Rat and dies by execution. That night, Jesse the Monk becomes the Lab Rat with the Puzzlemaster ability. When the Demon kills Jesse, Walt the Poisoner becomes the Lab Rat with the Golem ability. Walt nominates himself and dies. That night, the dead Empath becomes the Lab Rat with the Recluse ability.
Mutant is on the script. Harold the Engineer becomes the Lab Rat with the Sweetheart ability. He claims to still be the Engineer. When he dies, Yvonne becomes the Lab Rat with the Mutant ability. The next day, she is executed when she says she became the Lab Rat. When Jolene becomes the Lab Rat, she knows she can't have the Mutant ability and claims to be the Lab Rat.
The only not-in-play Outsider is the Plague Doctor. When Millie the Lab Rat dies, Ray becomes the Lab Rat with the Plague Doctor ability. When he dies, Owen becomes the Lab Rat. Owen only has the Lab Rat ability.
John is the Snitch. When the Lab Rat dies, John becomes the Lab Rat with the Snitch ability. Each Minion gets three more bluffs.

The Enchantress silences nominations.
- Each day, when the Storyteller calls for nominations, players may no longer speak to each other.
- Players may only speak again when the nominations phase has ended.
- The Storyteller may still be spoken to privately.
- To nominate, a player must point at another player, instead of announcing their nomination verbally.
- Players may still only nominate once per day, and may only be nominated once per day.
- Players may still make gestures and facial expressions during the nominations phase.
- Players may not do public actions verbally, but may still mime them.
- The Enchantress keeps their ability even if they are dead.
HOW TO RUN
Each day, when you call for nominations, even if the Enchantress is dead, also call for silence. From now until the end of the nominations phase, all players may no longer speak to each other.
If a player confidently and clearly points at another player, count it as them nominating that player.
EXAMPLES
The Boomdandy is about to die by execution. The Fisherman gets the advice to execute anyone else, although cannot communicate this verbally, and frantically nominates another player.
Players cannot agree on who should be executed today, and do not know who voted for which player because of the Organ Grinder.
To avoid the Enchantress, the Princess publicly discusses nominating & executing the Shugenja today before nominations open. The Psychopath kills the Princess.

- If the Historian's statement changes truth value, but the Historian makes a new statement before the end of the day, they do not lose their ability tonight.

During the day, if the Historian declares they wish to use their ability, prompt them to make a definitive statement. Mark the Historian with the respective TRUE STATEMENT or FALSE STATEMENT reminder and remember their statement.

about Grazier, in return for the drunkenness, they get to indeed confirm each other, and i don't intend for it to land on death mod scripts really, meaning that the additional death will be confirmation to town most of the time. the original Grazier becoming their pick's character means that they've got a sober instance of that ability now, and everyone can trust that whatever comes from that ability is real
of course though, we'll have to see how it balances out in practice

The Dullahan poisons Townsfolk if no info is sacrificed.
- At night, whenever a player would learn info, they may close or cover their eyes first, even if the Dullahan is not in play.
- If a player closes or covers their eyes, they do not learn that info.
- Players do not have to cover their eyes when waking if it is not to learn info.
- Once per game, if no Townsfolk covered their eyes when learning info, the Dullahan may choose to poison all Townsfolk tomorrow day and night.
- If there were no Townsfolk who learned info tonight, the Dullahan does not wake to poison.
HOW TO RUN
Before you would show a Townsfolk info at night, give them a moment to close or cover their eyes, even if the Dullahan is not in play.
If a Townsfolk covers their eyes, mark the Dullahan with the DOES NOT WAKE reminder.
Each night, just before dawn, if all Townsfolk chose not to cover their eyes before learning info, wake the Dullahan. If they nod their head, all Townsfolk are poisoned tomorrow day and night—mark the Dullahan with the TOWNSFOLK POISONED reminder.
After that day and night, remove the reminder and mark the Dullahan with the NO ABILITY reminder.
If a Townsfolk covers their eyes when they shouldn't, such as when they need to make a choice, wake them again.
EXAMPLES
Mike, Rich, and Jay, are all Village Idiots. On the first night, they are the only Townsfolk who learn information. None of them choose to cover their eyes, but the Dullahan chooses not to poison all Townsfolk. On the second night, Rich chooses to cover his eyes. On the third night, none of them cover their eyes, and the Dullahan chooses to poison all Townsfolk tomorrow day and night.
On the first night, no Townsfolk wake to learn info. The Dullahan does not wake to poison all Townsfolk.
The Dullahan is not in play. On the first night, the General covers their eyes. On the second, the Empath does. On the third night, the Empath and the Town Crier cover their eyes.

Script Building Tip! I recommend having quite a heavy array of wakers to balance Dullahan nights. Like 5-6 wakers on the first night is probably recommended.
And try to avoid characters that need to wake to get info such as many YSKs (unfortunately lol), Balloonist etc

oh only just saw this, yeah as delta says, it's actually a character we playtested and maybe it's a case of players needing to acclimate to it or the script not having enough info wakers, but it was activating almost every night and that was just brutal

generally you can get away with having about half of town or so spend their ghost votes
but figuring out if there's merry man in play is big important, and looking at socials at who dead votes (as evil players will definitely want to use their votes to have voting power on the final day) is also important to think about

It’s currently intended that consulting counts as standing for the Matrmur as for whether it’s good or bad interaction probably depends on author and group

For historian, thoughts on statements like "the player N steps clockwise from me, where N is the day number, is the demon"? Then the first time it changes you have a sage ping at worst and the demon at best. Would it be reasonable for an ST to deny a complicated statement like that with multiple variables, or is this type of thing just what historian scripts should be balanced around?

Works better than I’d anticipated which is great! A little misunderstanding in how I thought it would be ran lol but we tried it bhamber’s way and both are chill just one way easier. Curious as to how it scales or script environments as you really need to make sure there’s doubt
i kinda liked the duplicating version, makes it fast at least, riot feel
the 1 deanae per night version is still very fast
both games were 9p (not counting travellers) and last 3 days iirc
in the second game however we had 4 alive, and in the first we had 3 on the final day
I think 1 extra a night is already enough to make it very fast
