Personally, I think basically all the justifications for vig o mod are "S&V needed it" or a little handwavey: if vig was a brand new demon that came out last week, it they wouldn't quite wash.

Rotwood behind the scenes is that we debated perma poison vs one day and settled on perma because at lower counts it isn’t as devastating (but still bad) and at higher player counts it’s easier to either skip, or execute non TF
we didn't have enough ability space so it was either permapoison with o-mod or one day poison without
probably don't put it with vortox but i think it's mostly fine?

Chancellor (Minion)
The Chancellor makes Outsiders indistinguishable from evil players.
- To good players' abilities, Outsiders must register as evil and as either a Minion or a Demon.
- Outsiders do not have to register as the same Minion or Demon throughout the game, and Outsiders that registered as Minions can register as Demons & vice versa.
- Outsiders do not misregister to evil players' abilities. This includes Demons, Minions, as well as evil Townsfolk or Outsiders.
- If the Chancellor is in play, this might have added or removed 1 Outsider, but it also might not have.
- At the start of the game, the Chancellor learns which players are Outsiders.
HOW TO RUN
While setting up the game, before putting character tokens in the bag, add or remove one or zero Outsider tokens.
During the first night, wake the Chancellor and point to each Outsider player. Put the Chancellor to sleep.
If a good player's ability would detect an Outsider's alignment or character, you must show them as evil and as either a Minion or a Demon.
EXAMPLES
On the first night, the Chancellor learns that Marion, Kate, & Oliver are Outsiders. The Empath neighbors Kate and another good player and learns a '1'. The Chancellor is then executed and tonight, the Empath learns a '0' when neither of their neighbors died.
After learning there are no Outsider in play. Gordon, the Chancellor, claims to be the Sweetheart. When he hears that the Investigator learned that one of Gordon or Lewis is the Chancellor, Gordon claims that this must be because the Chancellor is making him register as a Minion.

Psychopomp (Townsfolk)
The Psychopomp must be careful of when they choose to get their information.
- Each day, just before players close their eyes for the night, the Psychopomp may visit the Storyteller (but does not have to).
- There, the Storyteller tells them one true statement.
- If the Psychopomp visits the Storyteller to learn a statement after an evil player was executed today, the Psychopomp is drunk from now on.
- If an evil player was the last executee, but they were not executed today, they do not matter to the Psychopomp's ability.
HOW TO RUN
Each day, after the execution phase and just before players close their eyes, the Psychopomp may ask to use their ability. In private, tell them one true statement.
If the Psychopomp visits you to get info and an evil player was executed today, they are now drunk—mark them with the DRUNK reminder.
EXAMPLES
After a good player is executed, the Psychopomp visits the Storyteller to learn that they neighbour exactly one Minion, which is true. Tomorrow, the evil Minion the Psychopomp neighbors is executed, after which the Psychopomp visits the Storyteller. The Psychopomp becomes drunk, and the Storyteller tells them that no evil players are dead, which is false. The day after, a good player is executed, but the Psychopomp learns another false statement when visiting the Storyteller.
An evil player is executed, after which the Psychopomp does not choose to visit the Storyteller today. They do not become drunk.

i understand your viewpoint and it's definitely valid. my reasoning for using this wording here is because it's more difficult to get this concept to fit into the ability length otherwise, & that speculatory thing allowed us to take this shortcut. "Each Dusk*" has already been acknowledged and accounted for in SAO, so my thinking is that hey, might as well use it in this way if we can. Plus, Brewulation & Boiling rhymes with Speculation & Spoiling!

Party Pooper (Loric)
The Party Pooper gives dead players the power to create new, crazy rules for this game.
- When the Storyteller declares a player's death, that player has the option to declare a new rule.
- This rule takes effect immediately, and lasts until the game is over, unless the rule itself or the Storyteller says otherwise.
- Rules can be anything, and may include things like restrictions upon players, or even new mechanics!
- When a rule is declared, the Storyteller may adjust it as they see fit, to ensure it keeps the game fun.
- The Storyteller has the final say; they may choose to not accept a rule (and ask the player to pick again), cancel rules at any time, or otherwise tweak or alter Party Pooper rules to ensure that the game stays fun for all players.
HOW TO RUN
When you declare a player has died, they may publicly decide a new rule. If you accept it but believe that it needs to be adjusted in some way, declare the altered version.
As the Storyteller, you want to make sure that Party Pooper rules are first and foremost fun. You may decline or alter rules as you see fit, to ensure that the game is enjoyable for all players. If you do alter a rule, it is usually the most fun for the player suggesting it to keep the core of the rule intact.
Rules that are breakable or that restrict players in some way should usually come with a form of punishment (such as death or execution). This makes it so that breaking the rule becomes an option, allowing players more choice on how they interact with it. A breakable rule without a punishment becomes something that players must follow, however, with a fitting punishment, it becomes something that they may take the risk of breaking.
These punishments should also usually include a "might" in them. If a rule comes without a punishment, or a punishment is mandatory, you should always consider altering that rule. This will keep the game more fun and balanced for all players.
If a rule ever overstays its welcome in a game and removing it would make the game more fun, you may do so and declare as such. If you realise a rule would be better with an alteration after it has already been introduced, you may change it then and there and inform your players. At the end of the day, it is your job as the Storyteller to ensure that your players have fun, and you may take whatever steps are needed to make sure that stays the case in a Party Pooper game.
EXAMPLES
Bert is executed and declares the rule "players must speak in alliteration during their defences or they might be executed". The Storyteller accepts this rule. Later, when Paul is nominated, he points at the nominator and says "Dis dude, darkness DWELLS!". Paul is not executed. When Perry is nominated next, he says "Dawg, I can't do this". Perry is executed. He then declares the rule that players may break Bert's rule.
After dying, Steven makes the rule that "all players must be mad they are the Butler". The Storyteller adjusts the rule to be "all players must be mad they are the Butler, or they might die". The Empath claims to have learned a "Butler 0", and the Village Idiot claims to be a Butler that sees alignments. A player claims to be their own master, and says that means they can vote whenever they want. None of these players die, because they are having fun.
Elise makes the rule that if a player says a beautiful poem about her during their defense, they might survive execution. The Storyteller adjusts the rule to be "if a player says a beautiful poem about the Storyteller during their defense, they might survive execution."
After learning he died at night, Usain makes the rule "Today, three players have a race. The winner decides who is executed today". Because there is not enough space in the venue, the Storyteller declines the rule.
Earlier in the game, a player made the rule that "players must speak in rhyme, or they might die". After a day, the Storyteller realises most players aren't enjoying the rule, so the Storyteller declares that the rule is no longer in play.

btw if anyone knows some super duper secret way to make loric actually look like loric in bloodstar, let me know, but for now it's listed as a fabled in our bloodstar doc (although it's still a green loric)
the idea started out as a traveller actually, before lorics were revealed. but then i was like huh, this could work as a loric, and then it morphed into "The Ultimate Loric" as a concept, basically being able to introduce any mid-game Loric rules
but yeah this might be an idea i send in to TPI tbh, i think it's something they'd like

is the Chancellor Architect jinx needed btw?
it changes the interaction to always require evil players to nominate for an alignment flip, which while that does work, it might offset how easy or difficult it is to get an evil architect? it's mostly one we went "oh that's weird" on though, always possible it gets removed

I’m late but the appeal of forager somewhat confuses me
from a sleuthing perspective I think it’s interesting that this creates an expectation of certain evils bluffing certain townsfolk
but from evils perspective I can’t imagine having half the roles you might want to bluff becoming disadvantaged due to an arbitrary stat to be fun
I have a similar issue with chambermaid but it’s mitigated by choosing 2 players per night
@half vine can add more detail but no that's pretty much Forager lol. It creates tension for evil in what to bluff in the same way Chambermaid does but it's not as damning as it and its info falls more in line with Dreamer I think of going "ok if they are evil they can't be thiss role etc".
As you said, Chambermaid irks you the same way so it's ok to not fully vibe with the character because there's a lotof similarities but I think Chambermaid provides a much more narrow bluffspace for evils than Forager. For example, a Zombuul on BMR can bluff Grandmother with Forager detection but not Chambermaid
Yeah I do enjoy that this is 50 50 meaning its easier to deal with
whereas Chambermaid is constructed almost like an alternate fortune teller (at least for BMR), this feels like a role that either 1) single-handedly exposes fake claims for ppl who don’t wise up, or 2) a less useful Dreamer who narrows worlds but doesn’t ever give new info on its own
I’m not sure if I enjoy that dynamic or not

valkyrie has also received a writeup update; resurrections now happen just before dusk. This may get reverted, but i want to see how it'd play if it works like this. plus, it allows ppomp to benefit from a resurrection, which is cool

We played Vikings in Nottingham after the Vertighost script. Game 2 I dead-voted on the Skorn and prevented their Skorn pass, Game 3 I was the Merry Man who made it to f3 and ALL vote tokens got taken
there was a procced Banshee, but they got poisoned by the Rotwood going into f3, so we just won then and there

god I haven’t been able to run Balloonist in forever. Ideally I’m showing two players claiming the same character type back to back, or I’m showing two different claims and then a third different claim so that characters 1 and 3 are clashing. The existence of Outsiders (especially those that want to hide) make the info more interesting
i think balloonist with outsiders that want to hide makes it way less interesting and rarely put them on the same script
think of it more as “Shrine Maiden calling out bluffs” more than “evil abilities hurting themselves”

ah stuff like No Dashii and Lleech. For what it’s worth those characters are both designed so that the poison finds them anyways. Shrine Maiden just does that better

It feels like it goes against the intent of it tbh. Yes it should call out evils but there are 4 character types for a reason, and Balloonist learning 4 of them means outsider claims give evils some safe space

and it still does by locking in claims/forcing pivots into hidden outsider claims/just finding evils if your info doesn’t line up

there is a huge difference between dreamer, chef and balloonist
chef is super strong info for limiting worlds
balloonist this way limits worlds were good is purposefully lying which generally aren't helpful to limit
dreamer is helpful cause of the trust it gains this way and limiting which players can be which evils...
past a few days, the dreamer learning a good character is generally not relevant
(though it can be useful if you give other nights with really useful info)

I think ultimately you think Shrine Maiden is weak in a lot of the places you’d use it, but you don’t want to put it on scripts where it’s too strong

I think specifically they'd learn a player who is at least one of (1) drunk, (2) poisoned, or (3) has gotten false info since dawn

Just a played a 6 player teensy with this script and it went really well!
The bag was:
RB, Xaan(2), Butler, Mutant, High Priestess, Seamstress.
It got down to a tense final 3 with Rose Bride, Butler (picking good Rose Bride), and High Priestess.
The Xaan had been able to convince the HP and Mutant to Execute the RB and Seamstress had already used their vote the day before.
But good pulled out cause the Mutant pulled their vote back as the clock got to them on the RB vote
One note I have as a storyteller running is it might be good to have a "Rose" reminder token. You could place it on the player who nominated the person currently on the chopping block so you know who should play Roshambo, and then you could also keep it or move it to the winner to remind you what alignment the Rose Bride should change to during the night.
A player in the game suggested this Jinx which I find interesting and will be including as a Bootlegger rule for now:
Jinx (Mutant x Rose Bride) If the Mutant is executed due to their ability they play Roshambo with the Storyteller and the Storyteller registers as the opposite alignment of the Mutant to the Rose Bride
Since Pscyhopath doesnt have a reminder token we didnt give Rose Bride one and hopefully players remember who nominated who

And for Cerenovus/Mutant etc we ruled that the Rose Bride stays as the alignment they are. This is moreobvious in the updated wording we did a while back: "Alive executees duel their nominator to decide your alignment..." if there is no nominator there is no duel so there is no deciding alignment
but yeah i was looking at a RB Teensy and was unsure if it would work because you could easily have like 2 goods only but it might still work
In the game I ran it was only 2 evil and it still went pretty balancedly
One clarification. Is it an ongoing effect, or does the alignment swap only happen if the RB is sober when the execution occurs? If the RB was poisoned when the execution happens will they skip over that alignment change, or would they just "see" the most recent execution winner after they're sober again and match that player's alignment?
I'd rule it as an in the moment ability like leviathan yeah; so if an execution occurs and theyre drunk they dont change alignment tonight
What about self nominations?
The difference is that the ST only has to remember who nominated the Psychopath, vs multiple nominee nomination pairs

I ran a second game with RB and it didn't go too well. The two non-RB evil players lost the first two roshambo games played and the whole good team was confirmed by an empath. I might not run this as a teensyville anymore. It feels a bit too good-sided at low player count. Since there's not enough evil fodder to keep the RB evil for 4 days of time.

If you nominate & execute a player, dead voters (if all were Townsfolk) rise & at dawn, no matter what, all but 3 players die.
this Valkyrie now requires exclusively townsfolk to perform a resurrection, and afterwards leads town into the final 3
it just means if even if you die, are drunk, are poisoned, or your character for some reason changes, or any other thing happens that'd stop the kill down to f3 after the resurrection, nuh uh it happens no matter what
it doesn't have official precedent but i don't think something necessarily needs precedent if it makes sense, personally

btw for new Valk, we recommend leaving the Valk alive into their final 3. this means the Demon has to make a choice between killing the confirmed Valk or knocking out a potentially deadly info character that just got revived (or is otherwise alive)
as for the resurrected players, you can just kill them again

almost certainly no they just just get 1 more night of information before perishing in ragnarok the next day
theoretically they could be 1 of the living 3 at the end but they're basically never the demon and we only recommend that the Valkyrie themselves doess thiss if they survive the night
i personally have no issue with shrine maiden, but yeah sin-eater looks a little odd which is fully the fault of the font

No you’d wake the Vampire and Demon separately. The Vampire would learn the Demon and Magician as the the Demon & the other Minions (thrall and regular if applicable). The Demon would wake and learn the Vampire, Magician, Thrall, and other Minions as Minions. The Vampire wakes during Demon Info but is still a Minion and thinks the the z magician is the Demon

Question about Conductor, if a character with setup effects leaves play, is the intent that its setup effect can be reversed? E.g. if a starting baron is pit-hagged into something else, can the storyteller turn two outsiders into townsfolk?
Whilst there are no examples of it, cough @half vine, the almanac does say it changes when a character enters or leaves play so yes (for now)

to be clear am i interpreting the almanac here correctly that a sin eater evil win takes precedence over a good win from killing the demon

Droplets of water fell from the stone ceiling onto the stone brick floor. The monochrome walls played their part to fully enclose the dungeon in colourless rock. Empty cells lined its walls - in a chest nearby, laid pickaxes with which prisoners were forced to mine for whatever wardens had ruled this place, so many years ago.
Monstrous pig-like rats scurried across the floor, and the shelves, and the tables. Their DNA had been undeniably mutated from the many experiments that had been performed on them.
One such rat ran over an open book right into an hourglass, knocking it off the desk onto the floor. The sand began to fall. For the first time in ages, it was like time was moving in this place again. The long-silent bell rang out.
The other rats bit down upon the bones and vertebrae found frequently throughout the cold, grey corridors. The flesh had been long feasted upon. But, all of the sudden, most of them dispersed. For they heard the crashing boom of a mighty footstep. And then another. And then another.
The terrible beast lumbered into the chamber, knocking over any chairs and other objects without a second thought. It pulled out the arrow that had been stuck in its neck for what felt like an eternity. Its long, long slumber was finally over.
Only one brave rat didn’t flee, It remained upon the pile of bones, screeching at the monster. The monster, who silently raised its hammer with both hands, and then smashed down. No more screech was heard.

Enough sitting around, it's time for you all to find out what we've been up to! Starting with...
Matrimur (Demon)
The Matrimur kills players who stand.
- From the moment a player stands up, until tomorrow dawn, that player might die.
- Players can die during the day, or at night.
- Multiple players can die in a day or night.
- At dusk, if no good players left their seat while they were alive today, evil wins.
HOW TO RUN
Whenever a player leaves their seat during the day, you may mark them with the LEFT SEAT reminder.
Each night, you may place a shroud on any marked players.
When you declare that a player has died, remove their LEFT SEAT reminder.
Each day, at dusk, if no alive good players left their seat, declare that the game is over and the evil team has won.
For players who use wheelchairs, you may count them as leaving their seat if they move away from their spot in the circle. The same applies to players who sit on chairs that provide mobility (such as chairs with wheels), or players who otherwise manage to move their seat without getting off of it. Make this clear to all players at the start of the game.
EXAMPLES
During the day, Guy stands up to talk to Stan, who is seated across the circle from him. That night, Guy dies. The next day, Guy and the other dead players walk freely around the room.
The Witch is on the script. Stu stood up today, and dies from the Matrimur's ability when he nominates.
Seth and Don were the only players who stood up today. Seth is the evil Baron. Don is the good Pacifist, but was already dead when he stood up. Evil wins.

Also here's a little guidance on running Matrimur online. It has a little jank and if you find a better method for your group do run it but what we I suggest!
Matrimur Online
When running Matrimur online, there are a few things to note and communicate to replicate it as close to in-person as you can.
- Players may talk to their neighbors privately & freely and it isn’t considered as standing unless declared.
- Dead players may talk to dead players freely as whether they are standing or sitting isn’t considered.
- A living player may declare they are standing- either through text chat or letting the ST know in a way- to initiate a chat with anyone.
- Other players can accept these chats without being forced to stand; but may declare they are standing too.
- Knowledge of who is standing is known if a player asks

I've been going down the irl route recently too. Fun space to work in.
Yes! This was something I wanted to emulate online - the abiltiy for a player to stand and visit players sitting. At the moment, without fancy app technologies and tools we cannot have, it would have to be an honor based system where a dead player initiates the chat vs the living (sitting player)
Basically, online, if you send out a ping to a non-neighbor player to chat to and they accept, it is the person who sent the ping that is now considered standing
Maybe they can only talk in the pre made rooms?
Definitely explore that but it does lose the privacy of chats benefited from online (a little bonus it gets because it loses body language in the deduction)
for accessibility rulings when it comes to players such as those in wheelchairs, you can count them as leaving their seat if they move away from their spot in the circle. we'll add it to the writeup soon

Bokor (Traveller)
The Bokor controls the dead.
- The Bokor's dead neighbors are the dead players that are the closest to them.
- Each day, when the Storyteller calls for nominations, if the Bokor's dead neighbors do not have a vote token, they gain one.
- If one or both of the Bokor's neighbors already have a vote token, they do not gain an extra one.
- The Bokor's dead neighbors may only vote for a nomination if the Bokor also voted.
- The Bokor's alive neighbors are unaffected.
- If the Bokor has no dead neighbors, nothing happens, and everyone may vote freely.
HOW TO RUN
Mark each of the Bokor's dead neighbors with a ZOMBIE reminder. If the Bokor's dead neighbor changes, move the ZOMBIE reminder appropriately.
Each day, when you call for nominations, return vote tokens to the Bokor's dead neighbors.
The dead neighbors of the Bokor may only vote if the Bokor does.
If a player votes when they should not, you do not need to tally their vote, as all players already know who the Bokor is.
EXAMPLES
The Bokor's dead neighbors are Ash and Jamie. Ash and Jamie have no vote token. When the Storyteller next calls for nominations, Ash and Jamie regain their vote token. Ash uses his vote token today. Tonight, Carla dies. Carla is sitting closer to the Bokor, and is now their dead neighbor instead of Ash. Tomorrow, Ash does not regain his vote token.
Sydney is Harry the Bokor's dead neighbor. She wants to vote when Nathan is nominated, but cannot, because Harry doesn't vote.

Dwarf (Townsfolk)
The Dwarves know those who walk among them.
- There may be one, two, or three Dwarves, irrespective of the number of players.
- Each Dwarf learns the character of a player that is mad as the Dwarf.
- Dwarves may learn the character of a different player to each other, or they might learn the same as another.
- For each Minion that is mad as a Dwarf, the Storyteller chooses a Dwarf to get false info.
- If more Minions are mad as a Dwarf than there are Dwarves, all in-play Dwarves still get false info.
- Dead Dwarves may count as Dwarves that get false info.
- If no players are mad as the Dwarf, Dwarves do not wake to learn anything.
HOW TO RUN
While setting up the game, before putting the character tokens in the bag, replace zero, one or two Townsfolk tokens with Dwarf tokens.
For each Minion that is currently mad as a Dwarf, mark a Dwarf with the FALSE INFO reminder.
Each night, except the first, wake each Dwarf. Show them the character of a player who is mad they are a Dwarf.
EXAMPLES
Lewis, Simon, and Duncan, are Dwarves. On the first day, Lewis, and Chris the Mastermind are the only players mad that they are the Dwarf. That night, Lewis learns Chambermaid, while Simon and Duncan learn Dwarf. On the second day, Chris, Joakim the Saint, and Martyn the Soldier are mad as the Dwarf. That night, Lewis learns Saint, Martyn learns Dwarf, and Duncan learns Mastermind.
Liam is the only Dwarf. On the first day, Jonathan the Washerwoman, Zoey the Empath, Kim the Poisoner, Rick the Scarlet Woman, and Alex the Butler are all mad as the Dwarf. That night, Liam learns Imp. The next day, only Liam and Zoey are mad as the Dwarf. Liam learns Dwarf.
On the first day, Ross, Chris, and Tom are all mad as the Dwarf. They are all Minions. Ben the Dwarf is also mad as the Dwarf. That night, Ben learns Yaggababble, another Dwarf learns Shabloth, and the third learns Snake Charmer.

it actually can be useful, such as the second example where only Liam and Zoey were mad as the Dwarf. Liam could be shown Empath, but that'd be the same info he'd get if Zoey was a Minion. but, by showing Dwarf, you prove that Zoey isn't a Minion candidate
(the role had "allow everyone ping it" toggle off, which I think is the reason)

Banker (Fabled)
Use the Banker to allow the Demon to move to a more confident Minion.
- Some players are very unconfident playing as the Demon, but would still want to play as a Townsfolk, Outsider, or Minion. Newer players might feel especially anxious about being the Demon, should they be in a group that features mostly experienced players. The Banker gives them the option to pass their Demon-hood to a player who would feel more confident about being the Demon.
- Minions choose whether or not they'd agree to a swap during the Minion info phase.
- The Demon chooses which Minion to swap with (if any) after learning the Minions, but before getting their bluffs.
- The new Demon gets the bluffs.
- The swap can only happen during the very first night of the game.
HOW TO RUN
At the start of the game, declare the Banker is in play. Add the Banker token to the Grimoire.
During the first night, show each Minion the Banker token. Mark each Minion that nods their head yes with an AGREES reminder. Put the Minions to sleep. Wake the Demon and show them the Banker token. Then, point to each Minion marked AGREES (if none, shake your head no). If the Demon points to one, swap their characters on the Grimoire. One by one, show both the token of their new character.
If the Demon shakes their head no, or no Minions agreed, put them to sleep. They remain the Demon.
EXAMPLES
Gabriel is the Demon. Jeremy, Susie, and Fritz are the Minions, and all three agree to allow a swap. After learning his Minions and the bluffs, Gabriel chooses to swap characters with Susie. Gabriel is now a Minion, and Susie is now the Demon. Susie gets three bluffs.
Ryan is the Demon, and Kory, Justin, and Apollo are the Minions. Apollo agrees to allow a swap, whilst Kory and Justin do not. Ryan is informed that only Apollo agreed to swap. Ryan chooses not to swap.

for lunatic, probably don't fake any minions agreeing, for poppy grower, if any minions agree and the demon wants to swap, you choose who they swap with, do a variant of that for magician maybe, and then i don't think kazali or typhon need anything fancy actually
