Machiavellian psycopath jinx is meh

hallow dirge
#

On a side note, I will say I released this relatively quickly because the monthly comptetion is coming soon

Idk if there will be a formal hint for it, but i did want to clarify Brawler's hint was not for the character I submitted

#

which i will be placing here once the comp is finished up

viral cedar
#

I like it

hallow dirge
#

Also, the flavor behind Brawler is cool as well

The idea is that if the Minion is droisoned, they are basically too distracted clashing with the Brawler.

The Minion can try to back away & stay sober, but then they are an easy knockout if they keep trying to do shady stuff while the Brawler is punching them out

#

So it’s basically a “Do you waste time fighting the Brawler?” decision for the Minion

native ginkgo
#

That is not the standard for jinxes and hasn't been, so I don't think this jinx does?

#

I think Leviathan / Mayor is the only jinx that has that implication, unless I'm mistaken?

strong pond
#

To me the fact that jinxes are between abilities also works way better with jinxes being done in such a way.

#

The games just really inconsistent atm

Introducing the…

Naiad

[Townsfolk]

You start knowing 1 in-play Minion. Once per game, at night, choose that until dusk, you have their ability & they are drunk.
The Naiad claims the body of their foe..

  • The Naiad must learn specifically a Minion. However, they can learn a good Minion if one exists
  • The Naiad gains the ability of whatever character they learned, even if they learned false info on the first night
  • The Minion becomes sober again at dusk or if the Naiad dies before then

https://www.bloodstar.xyz/p/LadyMistchemist/Mistfits-Pre-Release/naiad1_mistfitsprerelease.png

#

Examples

The Naiad learns a Harpy is in play. They use their ability. The Naiad chooses for the Savant to be mad that the Chef is evil

The Naiad uses their ability on the Witch. The Witch chooses the Naiad. The Naiad nominates tomorrow & does not die.

How to Run

While setting up the first night, mark a Minion with the Naiad's “KNOWN” reminder.

During the first night, wake the Naiad and show them the character token marked with “KNOWN”. Put the Naiad to sleep. (If no Minions exist for some reason, do not wake the Naiad)

Each night, the Naiad either shakes their head no or nods their head yes. If they nod, place the DRUNK reminder on a Minion. The Naiad has that ability.

At dusk, remove any placed DRUNK and add the NO ABILITY reminder to the Naiad

#

Interesting Interactions

Spy (JINX): The Naiad does not see the Grimoire when they have the Spy ability

Cerenovus/Harpy: Good for lifting madness off of a player

Boffin: The Naiad can learn any not-in-play good character, not just the one the Boffin had. This information can be weaker or stronger, based on the game state

Evil Twin: When the Naiad has the Evil Twin ability, they may learn either the Evil Twin or another evil player. This is certainly a tough interaction, but not impossible, since evil players can also bluff Naiad to frame a player.

Marionette: The Naiad knows they are stealing an ability, so the Marionette doesn't really affect them. The Demon will learn the Naiad, so be wary of that

Widow (JINX): The Naiad does not see the Grimoire when they have the Widow ability, but does choose a player to poison

Summoner (JINX): If the Summoner is drunk on the 3rd night, the Naiad chooses the Demon character & the Summoner chooses the player

Vizier: There really aren't many ways to make this a good interaction. Barring an especially novel jinx, I would recommend not using these

Mastermind (JINX): If the Naiad uses tier ability on the Mastermind, they do not gain the Mastermind's ability, but the Mastermind is still drunk

i think the summoner jinx should maybe be that the st chooses the demon (like the PG jinx), the important part of summoner is making the best pick for demonhood and the demon type is secondary

though i can also see the value in leaving it be because a good player being certain of the demon type is very useful already? idk thinking about it more its probably fine as is but i wanted to name it as an option

hallow dirge

I had considered it being the ST chooses a player, but decided to do this jinx for the ime being

yeah changing it would probably be way too powerful for good and completely neuter the actual summoner

mastermind should maybe be jinxed? raw i think if the naiad procs and then the demon is executed, the naiad then loses the ability that night (which is immediately after the execution) and since the actual mm was drunk it didn’t proc so the game just ends. i think a sort of “clarification jinx” like princess-alhad (but more useful bc that interaction makes sense without the jinx!!!) where the naiad just doesn’t gain the ability at all and makes the mm drunk could be nice

Introducing the…

Simulacrum

[Outsider]

If the Demon dies & 5 or more players live (not Travellers), they keep their ability, learn you, & you become "the Demon."
The Simulacrum might continue the Demon's mission

  • If there are five or more players just before the Demon dies—that is, four or more players left alive after the Demon dies—he game continues
  • The Simulacrum does not change characters of learn they are the Demon.
  • The good team must kill “the Demon” in order to win and the evil team must keep them alive until 2 players remain alive.
  • The Simulacrum registers as their own character type and the Simulacrum, but also as a Demon
  • The Demon learns who the Simulacrum is at the first opportunity during the night

https://www.bloodstar.xyz/p/LadyMistchemist/Mistfits-Pre-Release/simulacrum_mistfitsprerelease.png

#

Examples

7 players are alive, including Hystrex, the Simulacrum. Amy, the Kazali, is executed and the game continues. Tonight, Amy learns that Hystrex is the Simulacrum

The No Dashii neighbors the General. The No Dashii is executed and the Simulacrum becomes the Demon. The General learns false info tonight, because the No Dashii still has their ability.

The Demon is executed today. Tomorrow, the Simulacrum is executed. Good wins

How to Run

If the Demon dies and there were five or more alive players immediately before the Demon died, place the IS THE DEMON reminder next to the Simulacrum. Wake the Demon. Show them the Simulacrum token, then point to the Simulacrum. The Demon uses their ability as normal

From now on, the Simulacrum "is the Demon". They register as their current character and alignment, but they also register as a Demon — the good team must kill them in order to win.

#

Interesting Interactions

Exorcist (JINX): If the Simulacrum “is the Demon” and the Exorcist chooses them, the Demon character wakes to learn who the Exorcist is then doesn’t wake that night, instead of the Simulacrum

Monk (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Monk

Soldier (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Soldier

Grandmother (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Grandmother

King (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the King

Lunatic (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Lunatic

Poppy Grower (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Poppy Grower

Magician (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Magician

Snake Charmer (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Snake Charmer

Trapsmith: (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Trapsmith

Marionette (JINX): The Simulacrum does not register as “the Demon” to the Marionette

Pythagorean (JINX): The Simulacrum does not wake to choose who registers falsely to the Pythagorean ability

Imp (JINX): If a Minion becomes the Imp after the Imp dies, the Simulacrum ability does not trigger

Fang Gu (JINX): If the Fang Gu chooses an Outsider and dies, the Simulacrum ability does not trigger

Scarlet Woman (JINX): If the Scarlet Woman becomes the Demon, the Simulacrum ability does not trigger

Mastermind: Remember that if the Simulacrum becomes the Demon, the Mastermind ability won’t trigger until the Simulacrum dies.

Minor Update

Sycophant ability now reads

You think you are a Townsfolk. Evil characters start knowing you are the Sycophant & the token you saw. 1 good player learns if you die.

this was actually something Hystrex suggested a whole year ago. But basically, I came to realize that there really isnt a reason non Minions or Demons would need to be inved. This version is longer, but solves all such problems

new version is currently only jinxed with Marionette. As before, the Marionette doesnt wake to learn the Sycophant

(i may consider changing to "evil characters know". its mainly the way it is now to make Simulacrum slighlty more understandable)

Introducing the…

Legate

[Townsfolk]

On the final night, alive Minions become good, even if you die.
The Legate gives Minions another option

  • The Storyteller determines the final night. This is before what the Storyteller believes will be the final day.
  • Minions learn that they have turned good
  • Dead Minions do not become good. If all are, the Legate does not turn anyone
  • The Legate does not know which Minions have become good.

https://www.bloodstar.xyz/p/LadyMistchemist/Mistfits-Pre-Release/legate_mistfitsprerelease.png

#

Examples

The Fang Gu, the Boffin, the Cannibal and the Legate are alive. The Fang Gu kills the Cannibal. The Boffin becomes good

There are five players alive: the Demon, the Godfather, the Cerenovus and two Townsfolk. The Godfather is executed. The Cerenovus dies tonight . No one turns good because there are no living Minions.

How to Run

At the end of the night you believe to be the final night, check which Minions are alive. These Minions become good. Show them the YOU ARE card and a thumbs up to indicate they are good

If no Minions are alive, nothing happens.

#

Interesting Interactions

Evil Twin (JINX): If the Evil Twin turns good, they register as evil to their own ability

Pit Hag (JINX): The Pit Hag can't make a Legate

Psychopath (JINX): If a good Psychopath uses their ability, evil wins

Spy/Widow: Spy & Widow have the option to be cagey & try to keep the Legate alive. However, they are still evil until the final night & would have to stay alive. As such, they are not dedicated to the Legate activating

Mastermind: If the Mastermind ability activates, this will trigger the Legate. Be careful putting these two characters together

Vigormortis: Really good at thwarting the Legate with minimal cost. This can work well or poorly, depending on the script and/or bag

Introducing the…

Yuki-Onna

[Minion]

You start knowing the Outsider players. Once per game, at night*, choose 1: they die. [+1 Outsider]
The Yuki-Onna freezes Outsiders to death

  • The Yuki-Onna learns which players are Outsiders, but does not learn their characters.
  • The Yuki-Onna does not learn Outsiders who come into play later
  • The Yuki-Onna may choose players they don't know, but only chosen Outsiders die

https://www.bloodstar.xyz/p/LadyMistchemist/LadyMistsList/yukionna_ladymistslist.png

#

Examples

It is a base 1 Outsider game. The Yuki-Onna learns that Brianna & Sam are Outsiders

Lucas is the Klutz. The Yuki-Onna chooses Lucas: he dies.

The Pit Hag turns Ella into the Zealot. THe Yuki-Onna does not learn Ella is an Outsider. Tonight, they choose Ella: Ella dies because she is now an Outsider

How to Run

While setting up the game, before putting character tokens in the bag, add one extra Outsider character token and remove one Townsfolk character token.

During the first night, wake the Yuki-Onna.Point to each player that is an Outsider. Put the Yuki-Onna to sleep.

Each night except the first, wake the Yuki-Onna. They either shake their head no or point at any player. Put the Yuki-Onna to sleep. If the Yuki-Onna points at an Outsider, that player dies - mark them with the DEAD reminder. The Yuki-Onna loses their ability —mark them with the NO ABILITY reminder and remove their night token from the night sheet

#

Interesting Interactions

Damsel (JINX): The Yuki-Onna doesn’t learn the Damsel player. They may choose to kill the Damsel instead of choosing a player

Barber/Sweetheart/Plague Doctor/etc.: The Yuki-Onna can trigger on death Outsider by killing them

Alchemist: Not the worst Alch ability, but still a bit strong

Goon: The Yuki-Onna still cant kill the Goon, but they have an easier time turing them

Tinker: Pretty easy to kill them at any time

Introducing the…

Inkmaker

[Townsfolk]

1 of the Demon's bluffs is an in-play evil character instead. You start knowing which character.
The Inkmaker replaces 1 of the Demon's bluffs with an evil character

  • The in-play evil character can be a Demon, a Minion, or even an evil Townsfolk or Outsider
  • If the Inkmaker is poisoned after the demon info step, they can learn false info, but the bluff wont be affected
  • The number of bluffs does not change: there will still be 2 good characters & 1 evil one in most cases.

https://www.bloodstar.xyz/p/LadyMistchemist/LadyMistsList/inkmaker_ladymistslist.png

#

Examples

The Vigormortis and the Cerenovus are in play. The Vigormortis learns Cerenovus is a bluff. Later that night, the Inkmaker learns Cerenovus is in play

It is a 2 Minon game. The Imp learns that their bluffs are Town Crier, Balloonist, and Imp. The Imp rolls their eyes, knowing 1 Minion won’t get a bluff this game.

How to Run

When setting up the game, decide on 2 bluffs instead of 3. Decide which evil character you intend to show. Mark their character with

During the 1st night, when waking the Demon for ifo, show them the THESE CHARACTERS ARE NOT IN PLAY card. Show them the 2 good characters & the 1 evil character. Put the Demon to sleep as normal.

Wake the Inkmaker. Show them the evil character marked BLUFF. Put the Inkmaker to sleep

#

Interesting Interactions

Summoner (JINX): The Inkmaker changes the Summoner’s bluffs instead of the Demon’s

Phillosopher: Goes before evil info, so you can do this

Vizier: Please give a Demon. The players will murder you if you show Vizier
