It's up to you, I have around 3-4 color schemes, if one doesn't look nice, I try another

in my case I do one per frame for uniqueness. it's much cleaner to have 1-3 grayscale colors in most frames though. black and white goes well with 90% of the colors

I rather make a color scheme based off of the characters theme.
Ie: fire element chroma is magma&obsidian/earth colored to resemble a volcano, zephyr is blue and white colored for clouds and air, excalibur with a silver and gold appearance to match something like knights, and the like. This is how i usually color my frames, by theme of the warframes.
i dont sit well with using preset color themes, i like to view each warframe as its own story, and therefore a color theme to match them
