downing other allies' thralls gives progress towards your own, and if your teammates' liches spawn, the thralls they make out of nearby living enemies while standing with a yellow/red HP bar help you as well.

Nothing about Grendel has specific synergy with any weapons as far as I know. Nourish gives you some viral damage on all your weapons, but that's useful for like... any weapon
