How easy is it to score a job with the Indian Federal Government? Are they sought after as long term, lifetime careers? Pay well?
True
And do you have smaller governments, which would be comparable to the US states?
A local, state, it Federal career is one of the very few options left for those in America who are interested in earning a traditional retirement pension. I know the trade-based labor unions still have them too, but other than that, it's up to the individual to save for retirement. I'll give you one guess at the percentage of Americans actually do that, a clue being it's only one digit!
It's not that easy to get a job in india. The thing is "India is fully corrupted" you need to be either lucky or rich enough to buy a job. There are a ton of people who don't get a job who have more knowledge than what I had. If something goes beyond the limits they don't hesitate to ruin their entire career. That's one of the reason most of the indians go to other countries for a better life.
I worked for two Federal Government agencies, the first having the honor of being that god awful 2½ years of wanting to suffocate myself in a bucket of uncooked rice everyday, but the pay was good. The second, an 8 year stint, showed me the other side, and challenged me to demonstrate that someone can love their job TOO much. I succeeded
Yeah, I'm one to complain about US political corruption here, but it's good to be reminded that there places, many places, which the corruption is far more imbedded into far more aspects of the culture, and tolerated far more as well.
Do you think the corruption in the Federal government in India is so pervasive that it has caused your democratic processes to have warped into something not democracy?
You guys are the largest democracy in the planet, so it's worth the discussion! 🤣🤣🤣
I have pretty passionate opinions about that very topic in my country, but will spare you (and everyone else) the rant!
corruption is everywhere here. If someone come up with new ideas the politicians will nuke them loL
Long of the short, i believe the US Federal Government has been operating as a Plutocracy for a little over 10 years, masquerading as a free and fair democracy to pacify the masses
And you guys DO have nukes!! My second most recent job with the government was as a USAF Civilian Intelligence Officer, and based on all my experiences, I'm not ashamed to say that in that I'm on team India when discussing your country's regional geopolitical strife.
I've never loved a job, or really anything else in my life to that point, as much as I loved that job, and everything about it. Thank GOD I was "gently encouraged" to leave and start my drone business. At the tempo I insisted on maintaining everyday, I'd have been dead inside of 10 years. I had what's called an "unhealthy work/life balance"!! 😂😂😂
Alright, I'll quit pestering you and get back to what I need to do and get this website up and live. Talk to you later!
sure thing.. and btw what business are you doing these days?
So, as with any drone business, we keep the lights on with simplistic, low cost real estate photography and videos. We're in the process of trying to pivot our core market from any creative sector work (weddings, real estate, special events, etc) to focus on the technical collection side of the business. The more lucrative potential notwithstanding, I have absolutely zero desire to provide anything photography. It's too much exposure to things I have no interest in. The most I'd be willing to do is maybe working a TV news coverage contract, but other than that, hard pass. The technical side is the large scale orthomosaic mapping, 3D modeling, construction site survey, and my true passion, public service support. That's where we integrate into a local fire or law enforcement agency and provide on scenev real time steaming FLIR thermal video to find a lost child, or be able to identify a trapped individual inside a burning building. THAT'S the stuff that trips my trigger!!!
can we collaborate with each other to finding some business?
Hello everyone, i wanted to know how useful learning photoshop would be for UI design?
Hi @oak turret you can use Ps to create the layouts and the assets for interfaces. There's other software from Adobe which might be really helpful in designing user interfaces and creating interactions, which is Adobe XD. I'll give you the link for the server in case you want to check it 🙂
@oak turret I find it useful for visualizing mockups after the usability has been hashed out. So it is a good tool to have available but not one I have found necessary.
@pliant fern @hot obsidian Thanks for the suggestions. 🙂

hello
Iam a highschool student
and I want to open a paid edit
I want to ask
where should I start?
I don't know what platform which can be use to open a paid edit
@viscid osprey you can start with Fiverr. But remember the competition is high out there. So you must promote your Fiverr account to get clients.
but,I don't have a paypal, because my age is not fullfill the requirements
You can ask your parents to create one for them and use it. Or you can wait until u can create one.
thank you for your suggestion @silent estuary

Hey everyone... I am looking for a recommendation for a wholesale printer to print a Tarot Deck I am working on... if you have worked with a company you think is great, please PM me the info. Thanks
this is career advice ...
how to just keep the motivation up to keep posting stuff even when not getting response... i find it so Disheartening that people don't even view my stuff...
hi please help me i need help mentally disturbed dont know what to do please help me
Maverick how to motivate yourself in this situtation?
Hey guys! 🧙♂️
So! I've been thinking, perhaps I'd like to try and make some money out of my photoshop skills one day. So a few questions:
**1. What advice do you have on how to review/test myself to see if I'm ready to take on client requests? **
How can I know Im ready, I think many would never want to end up receiving requests they simply arent able to do. Now ofc, you can always learn. It's probably the type of job that teaches you every day. But still there should be a certain amount of "knowing what the heck you're doing" 😄
2. What advice do you have on how to start? Where should I start? Any advice on how to get started and get going.
**3. Any pitfalls that I should be aware of? I'm sure experienced people have learned a lot that they wished they knew before they started this type of career. **
4. What are your thoughts on full time vs spare time job? ( I think it's called spare time job? Anyways I think you get my point!)
5. I only have adobe photoshop, is that ok? What's the pros and cons of having for example illustrator as well. I have barely ever touched it ever.
Not necessary but would be easier to look at if you mark the answers with the question number affiliated to it so it's more organized. Just personal preference 🙂
Thanks for the advice guys! Stay awesome! ✌️
Hey @cloud palm thanks for the tag :)
One cool thing that you can try is to make some personal projects, you can create a brand that does not exists or even and existent one and then do a rebranding job, just as practice. You can use websites as Behance, Pinterest, Dribbble as a guidence to your work. See what works nice in your opinion and what doesn't, and why?
For branding I recommend that you use Adobe Illustrator, it's a great tool to design logos and the assets for the brand.
Adobe Live has recently started a series called Office Hours, it's a show that teaches many techniques, tips and tricks on how to develop a career. Today is the day that the Episode 5 airs (in 20 minutes I believe 😄 ) There are also a server for the show here in Discord, where you can share your thoughts, your projects, ask questions and help the other creatives in the industry, here's the link in case you want to join:
https://discord.gg/qN4quw
The replays for the show are on Behance and on the Adobe YouTube channel 🙂

Oh nice thanks man! But few followup questions:
How would pinterest act as a guidance to my work?
Also could you elaborate more on adobe illustrator vs photoshop?
Yes!
In Pinterest you might create moodboards according to the area that your client is acting. For example: you can find related images, color palettes, get inspired with social media and brand assets. I'll give you a like to my profile for you to take a look. I have some boards that I take a look whenever I need to make a specific work, such as Thumbnails, Social Media, Printing... https://br.pinterest.com/valdairleonardo/
About Photoshop and Illustrator. Photoshop is recommended for photos and raster images. When you create logos and brand assets you might want them to be vector in most of the times, so the you'll have the option to work in large scale without making the assets to look pixelated, and for this, Adobe Illustrator have specific tools for that. You can combine both when creating a brand, using Illustrator to develop the brand and Photoshop for suggesting some filters with the brand colors, or even to adjust social media images. I hope this helps
Hmmm So if I make a logo in photoshop and make effects and all on it. I cant move that to illustrator and make it a vector maybe?
You can use Illustrator to trace your logo in order to have it in vector 🙂
Hello 🙂
@cloud palm If the LOGO has less colours and has less details, you can use some online convertors
Hmmm I hear one way of doing it is to start with illustrator and then move to photoshop to add photo manipulation/effects/brush texture
and remember to turn it into a smart object as smart object has memories so they dont get pixelated and ugly if you zoom out/in
@silent estuary thanks for the tip! @pliant fern you too, but what do you think of the above mentioned?=

@leaden zenith thats true even i learnt it from there
okay thank you 🙂
@crude rivet you could also try doing the daily creative challenges. The instructors are really good and they teach in easy to understand instructions.
I just started out my career in graphics design... I know the basics on graphics designing and can use Adobe illustrator and Photoshop at a decent level. But now I don't know what to do. And I also want to start making money from it
😋
Me too actually. I know there is a lot of YouTubers talking about the experience on Fiverr. What do you think about that website? Also, Adobe Stock Photos may pay.
@snow zenith fiverr isn't bad if your rate, reviews, and work are good, people will pay.
Hey guys I have started my YouTube channel. Please let me know how can I improve. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp7l2lBxjpaRY_NILhWKsNQ
@livid tapir Nice! I will check it out soon. Subscribed 🙂
Awesome @livid tapir. I started a YouTube channel too so I commend you for kicking it off because I know it takes some upfront motivation and learning. It seems your style is short and sweet tutorials right? That’s nice. What are you hoping to do with it?
Can anyone tell me how to make a resume for graphic design internships
what should i put in and what should i focus on, etc. And what additional skills will be useful for the job.
@quick zinc NICE Profile pic!!
@half dust THANK YOU!!! 😄

it's the MacOS Big Sur wallpaper in case you were wondering
Hi is anyone online?
Can anyone tell me how to get started with learning design tools to apply for jobs in product designing?
Hey @frosty pagoda - This depends really on the product you want designed really. For product design, you don't really need a specific software but you can use software like dimensions and photoshop/illustrator to create some pretty realistic mock ups. You can learn more about dimensions here: https://www.adobe.com/ca/products/dimension.html
The best learning process is always to start with the basics and work your way up. If you're applying for a job, ask what software they use in the company and do some research. These companies will all use different software and have different techniques so there isn't really a "set process".
Some questions you should ask to start
- What education is needed for this industry?
- What companies can you find in this industry?
- How long is the learning curve for this industry?
- Does this industry require that I go to school?
- Does anything you're currently studying benefit this role?
- What genre of product do you want to design?
Lots of questions I know but this will help you narrow down your search in your software hunt. Your passion fuels your path 😄
Hi I’m wondering what kind of job title their are for social media content creation for advertising and or promotions
Did u try LinkedIn? I think that's supposed to help out with that
The real success is to keep learning.
But teaching others what you have learned is more than success.
Trust me. Believe me. You can't know everything, But you can know anything you want. So focus on one thing you love to learn better than 10 things you like to learn.
Hi ! Ahmad is here from Pakistan . I have learn graphic skills from adobe you tube channel and some from skill share community now i need guidelines from experts what and where job i should start . SO i want you suggest some work/job where should i start like logo, branding, ui . even i have no portfolio yet !
I Learned Adobe PS,AI & Xd.
build a portfolio - with imaginary projects if needs be. and try linked in or other places, it should be of some help
Same question as well. I am currently trying to build my portfolio with some mock companies.
Thanks
Anyone have advice on how to find freelance clients?
I just applied to Upwork
I tried Upwork but found out it the site is a money waster.
To get jobs you have to use " connects". You start out with a limited number of them. Once you run out, you can't apply for jobs until you buy more. It's a total money trap. The price for connects are low but it starts to add up over time depending on how frequently you apply for jobs.
Furthermore, getting a job is all a gamble. I was on Upwork for months and only got one job from the site.
same question
What are Connects like points ?
Hey, I need advice. I'm creating my first cv and I don't have any work experience and was wondering if I could put those daily design logo and other graphic challenges as my experience on a cv?
I would not put in cv as a work experience, but you can mention it in your cover letter... that's what i do @eager crow
it is usually as social media manager or as content creator in general
I see I will put it under cover letter, thank you so much for helping me out 😁

ok so here is my question-
i am in 10th grade now and i want to become a video editor so what, where and wat are the qualifications to become one?
Certification in adobe premiere and after effects
And a degree of some kind but it’s not needed as it’s based on skill
@placid sail
Also adobe photoshop if you want to make the graphics urself for the video
I have landed 2 or 3 clients so far, one of them i hav consistent work with, but i told them the job was free because it was small and didnt take long, any tips on how to grow from there?
Is there any degrees that involve photography and videography, or is it too broad?
Hi. Im somewhat new to graphic design am still in college but a friend paid me to design their logo and what i gave them they have changed to a complete mess. It doesn't flow. The porportions are all wrong and makes no sense. But he insists thats what he wants. I really dont want to put my name on that. What do i do?
If he has adjusted it I would make sure that he doesn't say that you made it. If I were in your position I wouldn't want to make a bad friend but I would probably try to calmly talk it out with your friend. Hope it helps!
Well what it is is he had me shri k the inside of it and throw it all off. He doesnt physically do it. He nust gives the instruction and i go in amd make it happen
Hi! I’m an intermediate graphic artist with little experience working for others (I just make fun stuff for myself) and I took some advice to put my work out there via social media. Now that I am recognized I am getting gig offers from a friend who is in the entertainment industry who makes small films and such. I don’t really know much about how to price or even how to run a freelance business. Does discord know how to direct me where to learn freelancing so I could start taking clients with confidence? Thanks in advance ☺️
You can start benchmarking. Go to any online freelancer sites and look at the pricing on there. Compare the works of other freelancers with yours and you might get the picture on how you should charge your work.
It's always hard to put value on your work but once you've done several of it you can start charging more 😆
...that's when the fun begins

I posted this in the adobe creative career server but i didn't think it would hurt to post it here as well. I'm not sure how to start finding work as a graphic designer. I've done lots of 'stuff' (compilation for a calendar, emotes and panels for twitch streamers, etc) but can never find anything that feels right to put into a portfolio.
@viscid osprey I was going to ask the same thing. What are the best sites for selling your artwork? Are there any sites that help in understanding how to partner with printers, payment systems, etc.? What do you need to know about for copyright laws when it comes to images and printing?
I have a question about Canva, the site that let's ANYONE design stuff. Do you guys feel sites like Canva will hurt freelance designers? I worry that clients won't need freelancers if they can just do it themselves. I know it's a stupid and silly thought lol. I've just seen a lot of ads about Canva and it's got me paranoid.
I've been using canva for my work stuff whenever I was too lazy to make something in photoshop, and while I do think that it is a much simpler system, it is still very much limited to what it can do unlike photoshop. I wouldn't worry very much about canva, because there is a huge difference
I want to jump in on this if that's okay as a professional in my field. I understand that there will be DIY people. I think that's fine because I'm a DIY guy myself, and I will sometimes endure the torture and agony that comes with it. There are other times when I will select to choose a professional instead of partaking in a DIY project... in other words, am I willing to pay for the service or have someone else do it for me. How much does that cost me, or (and this is a big OR because I love to learn) how much pleasure do I get from learning this new tool, technique, etc.? So, in my personal opinion, Sabrina, don't worry about Canva and someone else using that tool. If you're a professional, your work will probably outshine that DIY Canva project, and that's what makes you special and unique. ||||| what comes from your mind is so powerful. <<<Another person using another tool can be powerful too, and that's okay because, in this life, there is an endless supply of wonders we can create.>>> But what you create...YOUR Masterpiece...However, it is that you made it where true beauty exists.
I have a co-worker who wants to be a creative but has not talent, no software, no eye. I am being pressured to hire them, "willing to learn". Should I continue to push back? How would you handle this issue? I see the brand suffering when I turn the design control over to them. I have found a creative that has all that and is willing to come on board the design team. But am being told they still want this other person. Suggestions?
I understand your point, @spiral jacinth! Do you see your co-worker studying, practicing, or even really willing to learn the creative area and develop their talent? If so, I'd give it a try, starting with simple things and allowing them to challenge themselves and improve their skills. Maybe try to convince them to hire the creative you found too, so those with less experience could be something like interns so then you can really check if they're willing to learn and put in practice the design skills. I hope this helps you 🙂
Thanks for the wise advice. No, not really. They would 'play' but never take the time to 'learn'. The problem is they have no talent.

Hello everyone! I need some advice. Its been three years I have studying Photoshop. I like it, especially I love to do photo manipulation. This is The last work https://www.behance.net/gallery/115884809/SONG-OF-THE-VIOLIN that I did. I want to make career in creative fields. I am currently studying and trying to complete BBA in which I am not really interested in. I have great interest in creative fields. I have no academic knowledge in design, art and stuffs. Everything I have learned so far is by reading books, articles, from you-tube and different course from Linkedin Learning, from adobe live-streams. My learning process is like where ever I find knowledge I grab that. There are only few design universities available in my country but my situation is something like I cannot get admission in those now. its kind of complicated to explain everything why I cant. But I am very passionate about design. I dont know if I can learn everything by myself or not but I am still trying. Because I dont have proper guidelines I am not sure how far I have came and how far I have to go to be a successful designer. I think i am pretty good in Photoshop editing, I will not say that i am expert, because I am not sure but I think I am not that bad. I can also operate illustrator, I am aware about design principles and elements which I have learned from books. So I am requesting you guys to please review my portfolio, and judge my skills. Kindly tell me what category artist I am! Though I have put 'Visual artist / Creative retoucher / Photoshop Wizard' title on my Behance profile. But I am not if i really belong in this category. And how should I approach further, what else I have to learn to be perfect designer?

Hi there! I have been offered an interview for a Print and Graphic Design Specialist job and they are asking me to provide a "creative marketing design" using a scenario where "an internal department has three weeks to promote a workshop." They gave the workshop date, time, location, speaker name, topic, and intended audience. Is this a standard request for an interview? If so, should I add a watermark to my design? Also, should I email them to see if they have any brand guidelines I can follow first? (Note: They have already seen my portfolio website with print and digital designs.)

hi does anyone here have a photography business? feel free to @ me
Okay Boogie I hope you get helped
Hey everyone! I need someone to design a new logo for my You Tube channel. If anyone is interested, DM me for details!
What’s the best way to make money making pieces like this? Not necessarily as a full time career, but at least as a paying hobby.
I also want to know this kind of stuff
Fiverr or any gig or freelancing site also yt and or twitch
hi everyone
im a graphic designer and i recently started freelancing
i haven't got any luck in getting orders
please suggest something
this is my fiverr profile
tbh, his prices are already quite low
I don’t know how anyone can do work on Fiver for $5 with “unlimited revisions.” Do they not have any respect for their talent and their time?
yeh, big nope 😄
Your price on fiverr should depend on 3 factors,
- How low are you willing to go? Lower price means more job offers
- How serious do you take you work? Higher means less jobs, but your work will have to reflect the value. Lower you can mess around a bit more.
- Are you doing this for more experience, or additional income? Lower rates means more experience.
There's a fourth factor, but you should mostly ignore this: Competition.
Yes, there's others with lower rates or higher rates. You can compare your work and consider for yourself if what they're asking is fair, maybe adjust your rate, but in the end set them to something you feel reflects your work.
you know what i think
after spending so much time i figured something out
the actual designer that know what they do charge 100$ for a normal design
and for the logo they charge around 200-300$ (i mean i don't have a problem with that they are just respecting their talent.)
they don't care if the don't have the work because of their prices
but on the other hand the designer who just download a vector online and edit it a
they are charging only 5$ i mean that is nonsense you cant just edit an existing logo and edit it, and sell it for 5$
that is why the competition is so high
its so difficult to make a place for yourself where there is a person who's not even a designer sells someones else work under his name
hence why I said to ignore the fourth factor
I completely agree with you otherwise, but yeh .. your pricing will reflect your expected skill.
I don't take anyone who'd work for $5 dollars serious. You just know you get some sort of hackjob
Yep, exactly. Do you know who Peter McKinnon is? He’s a photographer and YouTuber. He did a video where he hired a bunch of people on Fiver for all different prices, I think one was over $1000, to do the same work to see if there was a difference and it was all over the map. Some of the cheap ones were better than the expensive ones.
yes i've seen the video i totally agree with you some sellers are overpriced and their work is not that fine as they charge, but in my opinion to charge 5$ for a logo and disturb the whole market is not a good move.
a quick question
how about creating a portfolio on Instagram?
I agree, I don’t like Fiver for that reason.
I’m not sure I understand your question. Can you reword it a different way?
im asking if i create a profile on Instagram and put my work there and advertise it will it help me getting some work?
i've heard that Instagram is a better platform for creators
It can help, some use insta some use deviant art and there's a bunch of other options.
I'd recommend a platform you enjoy yourself plus does not limit the visitor in access.
understood
Use both. See where you get traction.
You'll get results if you engage with people tho not just by posting
twitter also is a great place, better than instagram. Utilize both, Lot of artists on there, great for making connections.
i'll definitely check them both, thanks.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @quartz terrace
I do some ok ish work for $5
But i don't spend qny longer than 3 hrs on $5 work

@autumn verge
In my opinion, if you do good work, $5 is underselling yourself.
Specially if this is your career.
I do voice acting and other things and believe in helping ppl sometimes if I enjoy it I do work for free idk
I don't mind helping out, and I do stuff for free too. Just not when it's career related 😉
Oh yh definitely don't work for free on careers I'm talking about small streamers who need help
But u will get 40 year old white women wanting free edits for "exposure" to 10 people
Gigachad
But u should still charge people even if u enjoy the work
Or charge interest over time if they can't pay
So like a 20 dollar product would be 5 per week for 4 weeks or if u want a profit off it do 5 weeks
I've never had a single person ask me to do something for free over Twitter.
Can ads help increase my clients?
I don't know how other people experience this, but I don't think so.
The market is very small for people who'd get targeted with design ads. I actively worked in the sector that would benefit from seeing them and never got one.
So it leads me to believe you're better off with a strong portfolio and references.
What are the requirements of a strong portfolio
one that clearly portrays your skills and the kind of creative jobs you'd normally take.
In my case I do digital drawings, emotes, icons, logos, etc.
So it'd be good to display that.
hey! just asking for permission first but would it okay and appropriate to post a job link that's hiring graphic designers in the uk?
Hello again, yes this channel would be great!
hahaha hiiii alrighty XD
Hey people!

also thanks!
not true lol
hows this
Kindness who needs it :)
it honestly goes a long way
Hi, i have been doing half year course of adobe ps and ai and self taught XD, using Adobe XD Challenge for a year. Im wondering how to get internship experience? cause most of the places they require me to have experience of working or some bachelor degree before internship
I’m looking for an artist interested in a collaborative project
Hello y'all! I'm asking this same question in AI server too, I'm currently in 12th grade and in a few months I'm gonna complete my 12th grade, this thing about what I'm gonna study for my bachelor's is eating me up... The thing is I was wondering about going for BA in psychology and during those three years I'll learn stuffs related to VFX and all, I don't wanna go for a college offering degrees in animation or something cuz they r hella expensive and I can't afford them but I can still learn things related to VFX and all from watching tutorials
And my cousin (is a software engineer) keeps saying that u go for a degree in animation cuz u won't get job because the people will ask you "IF I HAVE A DEGREE IN THIS" and if I say no they will reject... And I kept saying to him that this field wants people with skills not degrees! But he won't understand, ik this text is getting huge but at the end this is my question
What do I do? You can ask me about this situation in detail (I didn't really went in detail cuz I think it may be annoying) hope someone can help me out, thank you :)
You're not wrong, but you'll still need either a degree or a killer portfolio.
You're not gonna get there with skill alone.
Thing is, if you want to do VFX so badly, why not take out a loan for it and get the degree.
I'm usually not big on loans, but if this is your dream, why half-ass it.
In the end it should also pay itself back.
Yeah u r right! I'm gonna have to think about this now! Thank you :)

I need help on my career
anything in particular? might help for people who want to give advise
Well I just wanted to visit the Adobe building for a networking but nobody wants to even have a conversation with me they haven’t even met me in person yet.
I'm pretty sure it doesn't exactly work like that 😄
Yeah no kiddin
Just about showing your skills and your work and being in school right? That’s pretty much the only way still.
Because I do have some skills and some great work to show at least I just need to meet people in person I thought.
Uh hello? Did I just bring your dreams down with mine? Still there?
Not to say they can't but I think the people at the Adobe office might have a bit of a different interest.
I'd recommend sharing your portfolio in #💡portfolio-reviews instead and perhaps get some feedback there from some of the other talent here on the discord.
Oh ok
I'm 40y old, my dreams are way to realistic to be brought down 😄
Don’t they all have a bit of different interest in the industries. Yeah I can show my portfolio of course I need to add more stuff in it Again.
Oh OK thanks that helps inspire me my age is over here #👋community-intros
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @visual pelican
also networking, I'd recommend to go to artist meetups, and such instead. Bit hard with Corona and lockdowns not allowing events, but there's some online too.
Hahaha Yeah I’ve done it before in person doesn’t always work out since nobody does animation anymore I’m talking about 2-D traditionally I’ve been screwed for life ever since focusing on it fully.
There's still 2d animation being done, Both on youtube as well as regular television.
I know a couple animators that even do commissions still.
Could look into doing the odd jobs through things like Fiverr if you're looking for work.
Yeah but it only exists in LA and Hollywood. Nothing in the city of tech of San Francisco. And please don’t say Pixar in Emeryville I’ve already walked over and check it out. I’m sick and tired of people saying that word.
I mean .. the people I'm talking about are all over the UK and NL.
it's not just hollywood 😉
Yeah I guess just sucks they don’t actually exist though
I think it's more a matter of finding them, but at the same time it means they'll need to be able to find you too.
If
But I’m working on my social accounts and yes portfolio too since that is most important hopefully.
Personally I think that's a good step ahead
I see you do comic strips and drawings?
among other things, yes 🙂
Cool do you make any income from art or whatever else you do?
The art stuff does make money (commission work), but is a secondary job.
learned most of it during my time on web development and always did cartoons. So decided to do it on the side since digital made it much easier.
Yeah I hear true, That’s why I need to get another job as well because I’m doing a terrible job right now but I’m getting better at it in animating in Photoshop so far.
Yeah oh ok always a side job that’s my other problem too
btw, if you're looking for good 2d animation software made for it
check Toon Boom.
I’m doing my best to be realistic but I seem to be trying to hard sometimes with my art
Eh, Actually opentoonz is way better than toonboom 2D traditionally hand drawn wise.
I think opentoonz is the software for me the timeline is so good it’s the best one I’ve ever seen so far.
no problem, just recommending from hear-say
Check my Twitter on my profile pic here made a Kirby anim recently
looks decent
Thanks I was just observing your Doodly doo video on YouTube.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @visual pelican
I kind of frozen the youtube stuff in favour of art practice and waiting till I can get back to streaming instead 😄 but Doodly doo is my favorite
Nice yeah art streams help.
I love speedart
So do you think I should stop getting ready to go visit the Adobe building or what?
Well looks like I blew it once again..
I don't know what you'd want to accomplish with meeting with the people of Adobe
It'd be like me going to head office of Guerrilla Games
I got nothing to offer them and they're not going to randomly talk to me on the spot about all kinds of things.
I don't know if that sounds strange, or if I'm just missing the point of what you want to do.
Networking? Suppose that. Like everyone says it’s not what you know its who you know, I mean I’ll keep doing hard work for sure but Everyone always says it’s all about meeting people in person 🙄
Well yeah that’s true I just thought you’re supposed to start somewhere though at least.
Think I just need to keep working on my brand mainly obviously businesswise that’s what I’m still working on this is why artist hate industries or business people.
Always business first which I get
Point is who do you actually know there?
If you know no one, the best you probably get is the security guard at the door asking you if you got an appointment 😄
If you want to network, walking into an office building is not the way.
these things happen at events, meetings, parties, etc.
You meet people there, make connections and then at some point down the line if interest is mutual, meet up to talk shop.
Well of course I know nobody that’s why I’m going over there. To get to know people and chat. Networking silly!
myeh, doesn't work like that, but I'm repeating myself
Right yeah I can do parties for sure
No I know your right, well that’s why I whould like to know more meetups too
OK so when’s the next adobe meet up then?
Yeah thanks I guess I’ll start using this app again like I did before. Just didn’t think there would be anything anymore since the pandemic.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @visual pelican
there's always something somewhere .. specially in the digital space
Yeah little bit, 2D is still Very rare, and I feel like the only one in sf, but I know there’s others too it’s just difficult, And I never thought it will be this ridiculously hard on me.
In Berkeley was the ONLY place I ever found for actual Animator meet up and EVERYONE was from LA but me total BS.
But I at least made one really good friend and talk to people there so that was a good day.
hey, I graduated from graphic design 10 years ago and I haven't used photoshop for 10 years. In school, they used to teach us photoshop on paper and we did it on paper using menus, exams etc, it was just insane and it didn't make us learn much.
anyway, I'm a sound engineer and having a hard time in the pandemic. I decided to change profession. I studied graphic design at school for 4 years, can I do it if I start again? how should i go about it?
Should I open a graphic design shop or work from home as a freelancer?
Where should I start learning again? Would it be good to start with things like manipulation, logo design, menu design, digital painting?
It's hard to change profession after 10 years. I am open to suggestions. thanks all.
first never stop learning. And second I advice you to work with Freelance first, make ur portfolio more bigger and reliable then you can open company.
Hi guys! is anyone here an adobe ambassador?
Im starting a clothing brand with my arts. Any advice on how I can expand it using photoshop?
Hey guys, I'm looking for a professional full-time designer/artist/illustrator who would be willing to do a very short 10 question interview for a project for my Industry Prep class, either by voice chat or I can send you the questions.
Let me know if anyone would be interested :0 it would be a huge help
you can be a graphic designer, or maybe video editor.
I heard you can monetize your video with content 🙂
edit :
since you're familiar with sound, your skill with video editing would be better then 🙂
You have brand now. Of course you need your own market. find your audience and create promotion ads will help you grow.
Nike, Adidas, Reebok, and other brands also need time to grow.
They also have down and up time.
If your brand quality satisfy consumer expectation, they will tell it to their friend or family.
Why you wear Nike shoes?
And why your friend/family want to buy what you wear?
which one, Android or iPhone?
why iPhone? why not android?
what's the best thing from Android?
whats iPhone feature dont have from Android?
i would like to work
Me too
not sure if this is the right place, but someone reached out to me recently to do family photography/editing for them, which would be my first job. wasn't expecting anything so soon, so i haven't decided how much to charge and i need to come up with a figure today. how much would you recommend charging? i live in a rich area if that helps
serious question, do you have a job outside of this?
yeah i have a full time job. photography and editing are a hobby, one which i intend to monetize to a greater extent one day and have been building a portfolio up. but this guy reached out to me out of the blue because he saw some of my photos online and wanted me to do this gig for him
really wasnt expecting job offers from my extremely tiny Instagram
so i havent decided a price or anything, ya know? but I'm comfortable doing the job and am confident
ok, here's how I'd approach it. Take your material cost (if any) + current salary (hourly wage) x2 maybe round it up or down a bit.
This should give you a rough ballpark where to start, specially if this is a hobby you want to expand into permanent work.
All this is to make sure you ask enough to tie you over till the next job once you actually start doing this professionally, but you're also not strapped for cash since you currently already have a job.
It's good to build up a buffer that way
hope that helps 🙂
so this formula would be the hourly rate?
yes, hourly rate + material cost
ok, that makes a lot of sense. how would you factor in post production? i would honestly probably do it for free even cause i love it so much but i also want to be fair to myself and this client
maybe charge a certain amount per photo they keep or something?
In reality the only person you need to be fair to is yourself.
So, if you see it as part of the service you provide you can do it for free, Or you could charge for it by the hour or per item they decide to order.
usually you'd give them samples first then edit those into the final product they'd actually purchase
i wax thinking that per hour might feel odd to them since they can't track my hours. so i like the per item idea more
so say you take 40 pictures, they pick 20 they like, those 20 you charge your post production cost on
well if it's a wedding .. you do need to go there, you have your equipment cost / insurance
so charging by the hour is probably cheaper than all that together
for example
nah it's just like a seasonal photo shoot outside their house or in their neighborhood
well, it's the same thing, just different type of venue / location 🙂
so to be clear, i would charge the flat rate of expenses + my hourly salary x 2 + a certain rate for each photo they choose?
i was thinking the per item rate would be kinda cheap, just to offset the time a little. I'm a fast editor so i don't expect it to be a huge time investment or anything
basically, time spend + expensese / material cost + package deal on the pictures they pick in the end
usually time spend x2 is a bit of a buffer also in case you run into issues
ok nice! yeah this makes sense and feels fair to me
great 🙂 .. glad I could help
hope you get more jobs and would love to see what results you end up with
thank you so much! i'll be sure to post the results

Hi,
I hope you are doing good!
I'm so glad to have a message from you. I'm more interested in freelancing. So if you still find me suitable, then let's schedule a meeting to discuss this in detail.
Looking forward for a prompt response.
Thank you!
My friend shoots skateboarding vids for strangers, and he sells them by having them buy the SD card of him
Interesting, that's actually not a bad hustle if he has proper skills and equipment.
Does he show them the footage before giving them the card?
Use instagram and put in your bio freelance available and self promote your insta and it will slowly grow and get more followers and eventually you will make money not necessarily a job but if you are patient you could make a lot of money
@atomic moss
yea
I feel you on this! I changed jobs too durning the pandemic. I found AMAZING classes that are very affordable on Skillshare and have built my portfolio while doing the classes. It has been a really rewarding experience !
And yes, def start freelance first
can i see your portfolio?
think that fits #💡portfolio-reviews
alrighty thankyou
good luck, looking forward to seeing it
Hello everyone! I'm looking to make a career switch and get into the user experience/user interface design field. Is there anyone else here in that profession that'd be willing to talk about their day to day and what skills they use, and why they got into the field? Thanks so much!
Hello everyone! I've had a huge gap in my career (approx 2 years) due to my health condition. I need to understand how can I get a job back and the necessary steps to do so. Can someone pls help me out and clearify as to how should I approcah this problem. Thank you so much!
Photoshop hasn't changed that much through the past 2 years. If you feel unwell with your skills then try built-in tutorials or join our Creative Challenge 😁
if anything, things got easier
Yeah, the software is'nt the problem actually, and it's true it's much easier now. Just wanted to make sure if my portfolio would suffice and the recruiters would ignore my career gap..
you can post your portfolio in #💡portfolio-reviews just to have some feedback.
the time gap shouldn't be an issue if you can proof you still got the same level of skill with your portfolio
oh okay TYSM! i'll post it.
good luck 🙂
Hello i need some help im trying to earn as freelancer photoshop editor and i made an upwork account... but 1 month from now i still didnt get any jobs i dont understand why... i have put some of my work on my profile, put a nice description but still nothing
Go on Fiverr and add a lot of gigs atleast one order you may get and don't make overpriced gigs you can increase it when you have good ratings
Bruh I currently want to do freelancing on fiver what price do you suggest I should keep at starting
?
You're prices aren't going to be as high as you'd like or as high as your worth at first but the main reason is to get things kick-started and build up a portfolio of work and network of clients. I can't say for sure on what price you should go for but have a look and see how much someone else is charging for similar work to what you do. Make sure you present your profile the best you can or else you might not get many views
Just want to add that it's fine to drop your prices a bit to get the ball rolling, but don't undersell yourself.
it's a disservice to yourself
and remember
the problem with sites like this is it will never let you be a true freelancer. There will always be something between you and the client, in this case the website, that controls both you and them. When it comes to prices, there will always be someone who does it cheaper and people who come there as clients rarely look for pricey professionalism
Are Adobe cerifications expected when trying to get a job in graphic design industry or do they mainly care about portfolio?
personally .. portfolio > professional references > work experience > certification
I see, ty
Adobe certification definitely can help you get a job but it requires some advanced knowledge and some money every 2 years. I also have never seen anyone with it so I doubt a recruiter would consider it more valuable than some other graphic design certification
Portfolio is truly what really matters. Sure certification is a plus, but for me it's Portfolio > Work Experience > References > Education/Certification.
Im doing photoshop for funbut out of curiosity what kind of jobs can you get with it
Anyone here have a job using it?
Free lance usually
Yeah my job uses it, not exclusively though. I'm a content producer
Web designer. I do web designs/ads for dealerships in Canada
to add to the list, I use photoshop and illustrator in web development / design for creating assets, mood boards, stock images, product mockups and more
there's tons of work with it really
Lead Designer for a YouTube Channel, Art Director for a super cool game mod, there's so many opportunities these days!
In fact, graphic design led me into programming funnily enough around a year ago
And when the two mix together, it is a beautiful coherent mix of rich technical experience, knowledge, and insightful creativity!
What is the best way to do freelance design such as thumbnails cover art and different things like that
As like a side hustle
thats hilarious
hi, i'm potentially looking into doing a design-adjacent part time job while im still in uni
im thinking of stuff along the lines of technical illustrator, prepress operators, that time of stuff. could you guys help me suggest some job roles that would allow me to work in a semi-design focused workplace while maybe not necessarily requiring me to have the full capabilities of a fully-focused design role (which i would not be qualified for anyway given my status as a student)

I've been working full time at a creative agency for nearly a year now and to be honest I'm just not enjoying it all that much. A lot of the projects I work on just aren't very exciting and I feel I'm at the point where I'm not going to be learning new things anytime soon. I'm stuck at what to do, my mind is currently saying I should quit and go freelance and stay on the lookout for a new job that looks more enjoyable (but mainly focus on freelancing). I'm not sure where I would start though so any advice is appreciated on the situation I'm in.
Are there different responsibilities or tasks you can take at your current job that can motivate you and also give you a chance to learn new things? I felt the some way last year and then I asked for more responsibilities and became the lead designer, so now I’m learning a bunch of new things and also bringing new things to our team.
Freelancing is a good option as long as you have or know where to find clients or if money isn’t an issue.
What about searching for a job immediately and staying where you are now until you get a new job?
if it's really off-topic then #💬chat-general might be a better choice 😄
Anyone have any advice for just getting into the graphic art industry? I've already had one commission that almost ended in a legal event and I feel rather uncertain trying to find more clients, or even how to find more at all in my little country town
How did it almost end in legal event?
The law is pretty simple, bullies try to use what they dont understand against you though, thats always been a thing
I was commissioned to do art for a card game playmat to be given out as prizes in a tournament. this turned into laser-drawn wooden plaques when dates got moved up and we ran out of time. They ended up taking off my artist signature off the plaques in a last minute decision because it "took up the entire design", despite having told me it was literally perfect when sending them the design.
The man I was in contact with apologized about how press for timed they were and they would try and make amends any way possible. I told them (since it'd previously been discussed that playmats would later be produced), under no circumstances should any other art I've made they make money off be without the signature on there. I promised that in the event it happened again immediate legal action would take place. In addition, I requested that once I have my business cards printed, that I would supply him some and they be included with future playmats sold. He agreed to this.
I didnt really care about the tournament prizes at this point because 80% of the design was ruined in the formatting process they use before engraving the wood
original design (to go on playmat)
one of the tournament prizes
hey all! Im getting into the NFT game, wondering if anyone has advice or resources for creating regenerative art? hope everyones enjoying their monday
Hi, i'm looking for a student/experienced photoshop/GFX designer to help on my project. No real requirements such as deadlines and we'll just have a good time. The result is what you can put on your portfolio for a future job 🙂
This is the kindest way I ever heard anyone say "I'll pay you in exposure"
Also, wrong channel, although there isn't really a channel for commission work
Gotta figure out some right ?
🤷🏻♂️😂
I just am that nice of a person
You'd be nicer if you paid someone for their services
Hey Guys, I know it doesn’t has anything to do with PS, but I wanna study 3D Visual Effects at pixelvisn. It’s the third best school in the world. I got accepted while doing the workshop there. The school cost 19000€ for 15 month. Anyone know what I can do to make it happened and chase my dreams? (I already work) Do you guys think something like crowdfunding would work out for me?
Any advices are appreciated 🙏🏽🙏🏽
oof, quite the amount of money. Crowd funding can work but the chances are not too high since you're probably "just" another student. and student loans can be quite expensive to pay back too. I suppose you could see if your current job has any education benefits?
I work as a sales manager so they probably wouldn’t pay me the school lol
Hi everyone, I'm someone who starts a lot of projects I constantly need people on hand. Especially in the field of crypto-currencies.
I need a :
-Web Designer UI/UX (Figma)
-Graphic Designer (Logo, Branding, Brand Identity, Instagram Post ...)
All these jobs are for freelancing or full time telecommuting, I have a company. I'm open to proposals, especially if you're a Web Designer + Graphic Designer I'm ready to take you full time very quickly!
"starts a lot of projects" "in the field of crypto" I'm sorry to say it but it sounds like if you were into those crypto scams like squid game coin. You might want to rephrase this message so it doesn't sound this suspicious 😬
You should give more info about your company, like website, name... etc.
and how much you're willing to pay
clearly if you're looking for people here you want to pay low.
Hi guys!
Do you have some recommendations of free websites to have your portfolio and show your pictures?
Of course I already have Instagram but I'm searching for a more clear website where I can have more pictures and see them more clearly and neat, as I have a ton of them hdhahda
What kind of websites do you use for you?? Do you recommend them?
I'm seeing a lot of people using behance.com that seems to be the one everyone goes to.
i see some too! i'll give a glance to it! why is so good??
not sure think cause its an adobe product. But the layout is nice. I haven't used it yet
Never work without a written contract and get a percentage up front. 1/3 on initial contract, 1/3 at design approval, 1/3 at delivery.
That's a good idea, I didnt even think about a contract. I did get split payments luckily, just not as promptly as I'd have liked due to lack of transportation. I did have a bit more trust because it was a family friend, but I didnt personally know him. I definitely wont be doing that again. Thank you for your advice!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @stuck hearth
Percentage up front is so important. I got screwed twice in my early days by this.
@violet anchor I set up a site on Wix. Very easy to self build. I am curious now about Behance
thanks you!
You're in the discord. So, yes?
To work for a hire (money), you will need to check with the laws of whatever Country/State/Region you would be paying taxes or tariffs in. To just work on projects for free or learning experience I guess it would depend on the terms of service of discord or channel owner.
idk much about taxes stuff in poland but you can also search it up. I did a simple search and got this website https://atax.com/blog/26/how-much-money-do-you-have-to-make-to-file-taxes
might want to check with your parents/guardian if they more about the minimum amount before you have to file for taxes.
and its not hard to file taxes, just use something like turbo tax or something.
I'm most welcome here.
I need assistance.
I want to master product design, and graphics by the end of the year.
This is the more reasons I'm here
So you're not here for poetry then? 😉
My career needs help.
I need direction, clarity.
I need a guide to help through.
I love product design and Graphics.
Any advice is welcome.
probably would need to talk to your parents about it
If i want to be a video game designer what should I do to help me with that in photoshop and or Illustrator?
First: Eat ALL your vegetables.
Second: Stay on the Ps and Ai servers and get as much feedback as possible.
Third: Ask for help whenever needed.
Fourth: Share your experience by helping others
Last: Watch all the tutorials you can.
Alright thank you
Last: Don't stop after watching. Try working on ps and ai
Dang i didnt eat my veggies guess i cant be a video game designer lmao
It’s time Tribe. We are finding each other ✨
@opaque pulsar what do you think of this video?
what is it?
an interesting video
keep getting an error when trying to export layers to files in PNG format...need help
What is the error?
I am using PhotoShop 2022. I have created an art work with several layers. When I got to File > Export > Layers to Files. I select the option to have them saved in the PNG 24 format and select the folder where I would like to have them placed. After it runs through all the layers I keep receiving an error that states "The Command Delete is not currently available". Once I press okay another small pop up box states "Error : User cancelled the operation". Meanwhile, I have done no such thing to interrupt the process via key strokes or mouse activity. I have tried to troubleshoot by closing Photoshop and restarting it and attempting the same process and keep getting the same error. I have also restarted the computer multiple times as well. I also tried the same process using the JPEG file as an option instead of the png24 and that export worked successfully (I need the files in png24 format).
How many layers are there? Are you able to save one by one?
6 layers
I can save just the background without distorting the canvas size
All other items in each layer are different sizes on the canvas itself
If I save 1 by 1, photoshop changes the canvas size and the size of the object in reference to how they are supposed to be positioned in the layers
I keep having this weird desire to make a noir black and white point and click mystery game, idk why lol
All the scenes are rendered in 3d then edited

Hi guys! Today I want to show you some of my progress in Unreal Engine game development, and talk about why I think digital still images - paintings or 3D - were dead on arrival as a form of art.
Chapters:
00:00 - Intro
02:22 - What I've Learned
06:56 - Digi...
IMHO For this video I would suggest reading the comments. Plus, there's no ads to skip through 😉
Booo
after doing Daniel Walter Scott Essential and advance course... what should i do to earn money?
Practice. Build a portfolio. Practice. Find clients on freelancing sites. Practice.
I was thinking about making a photoshop course maybe on udemy or something like that, but will somebody watch it? I mean, why should someone watch mine and not a course of somebody else?
Is there anyone, who can tell me how to grow my Insta following? I wan't to be able to sell some of my projects (I've created NFTs on OS, but to no luck). I primarily do Futuristic/sci-fi stuff. (Such as the picture I attached to this text)
yeah, maybe you should take a break? 😛
Uff harsh words :))
I think it’s the word NFT that triggered him. I know it triggers me
@nova dawn was that what triggered you? 🤣🤣
oh okay
cause when I hear NFT i get a little upset 🤣
NFT is the future man! ITS NOT A FAD, I PROMISE!
also... I some teeny babies that im keeping.
it really is
Is design school worth it?
Yes. Some people need a teacher who can help them face to face. Having a diploma always looks good. That said, look at the courses and see if they will be helpful/right for you. If you can, also see reviews from previous students from the courses and see what they thought or how they’re doing in the field.
In the end though, you still need to have a good portfolio if you want a chance in the saturated field. If you think online courses and YouTube videos works for you, that’s okay too! Just remember to have a kickass portfolio 🙂
That’s the thing, I’ve gotten this far by just teaching myself. I agree that a degree looks good, however art school is ridiculously expensive. And I’ve taken graphic Design classes at a community college before and it just felt like a waste of time for me. Everything they were trying to teach me, I can find on YouTube or SkillShare. A degree would just be getting my foot in the door.
Yeah I get it. I mean there is some truth to it that it could get your foot in the door... but if you also have a really good portfolio, that will help you ALOT more.
So if you cant get a loan for an art school, maybe just continue working on your skills and building your portoflio.
That’s my thing, why would I waste time or money in Design school, when I can just focus on my craft and continue to build on my skills.
Yeah I get it and I dont disagree.
Just continue building that portfolio with great stuff then.
I can only speak for my self, but when I was hiring... Portfolio was the first thing I cared about.
experience and then diploma for me.
I agree with that, I definitely need more experience. But the catch is a lot of design jobs require you to have at least 1 year of experience, and a degree 😅🤷🏾♂️. But you need the job to have experience
dont pay attention to the 1 year of experience, it's just something they put by default.
As for the degree, like I said... it's good to have. If you dont, it's okay too.. just gotta show that you have the portfolio to make up for it. AGAIN this is based on MY EXPERIENCE. It's important to get info from others too, especially those who live in your area.
Years of experience and education is there so newbies or inexperienced people don't waste company's time. If they find a person they are looking for, they will hire them regardless of years worked or education
Exactly what Wertos said. So don't be shy to apply for jobs regardless of what "experience" they're asking for. You lose nothing by applying for jobs.
I appreciate the advice, also what are some good portfolio tips?
Get two of them. One with things you want to show the most, what defines you, and the other, with additional stuff, things that didn't make it to the first one, to give someone who asks for more
I agree with Wertos. I would also add, try to get different types of designs. Dont stick with just putting two types of media.
I had one guy last year whose portfolio was 90% logos.
and my job requires 0% logos.
Also, make sure this first one isn't too long
Yes. I want to see what you think is your best work, i want to see your style in your work... i dont want to see ALL your work.
I think with a few images, you can quickly tell if someone is good or not (for the job they need) or what there style is.
and keep refreshing that portfolio.
Exactly, and then, if the recruiter is interested, they might ask for more
refresh that portfolio often, you'll be a better designer tomorrow than you were today.
🙏🏾I appreciate the advice. Also I’d appreciate it if you guys would check out my Instagram ( @stiff flint_ )
Just use #💬chat-general :D
hey guys. what are the best low risk things for me to sell? so like no stock. either print on demand or digital. either photomanipulation stuff or vector art
are you talking about merch? this is one of my favorite places for print-on-demand products: https://www.printful.com/
that kind of thing. yeah I looked at printful a while back but I tried to use it with etsy and etsy tried to rip off me and my customers
:/
Hello. I am looking for a senior photographer who can edit my image.
If I want to start building my portfolio how would I know what photos I should put on the portfolio?
i have a couple of photos i think would work in the portfolio but i am not 100% sure, if anyone can help me that would be very appriciated
add as many different styles as you can and projects that display many different techniques
Hi, I know my response is late (1 month late haha), but I wanted to say that in order to make an nft project, you should make around 10000 of these. After that's done make a Twitter account and host lots of giveaways. Make a Discord Server and a Website where people can mint your nft. After the project has launched you have to keep it alive. You can do this by: releasing a game based on your nft, launching a clothing band based on the nft, launching any company, basically
Hey all! Wanted to share the link to this upcoming livestream if any of you are interested in pursuing game art!
Hi discord, first time poating but ill keep it quick and short.
Basically i applied for a new design based job here locally thats a step up from my current job. Ive been doing graphic design work for the last 4 years but not on a super wide spectrum.
How do I sell myself in this interview in the next week or 2 when i havent really messed with premiere or motion graphics but my other core aspects are pretty solid.
I have a Superb Opportunity that includes a full time job in design/Drawing/3Ddesign, please contact me ASAP office is located in Albany, New Zealand.
Need someone to complete my logo
Idea and sketch of logo has already been made , you just have to design it .
Payout will be 10-20$ depending upon the finishing . (crypto) 💰
Please contact me only if you can , as we need to close this ASAP
The way I see it, there are two paths with interviewing or just progression in general. 1. Be super confident and use buzz words. I see this all of the time - someone doesn't really know the job super well but they are very confident and use the right phrases that they have memorized. These people actually progress in their careers very well. 2. Actually learn what you're interviewing for. Look at the job posting and see what tools they want experience in and also look on learning sites like Linkedin (Learning) that will show what tools are used in w/e field. Watch some youtube tutorials, do some free courses on various sites, then you'll interview well because you'll know what you're talking about. Google what questions they will likely ask, do some drills, and prepare.
Option #1 "plays the game" and usually option #2 doesn't "get ahead" very much. People will end up disliking person #1, but they will get promoted and #2 will not because they aren't "playing the game" or working on their soft skills. Find a good balance and work on the hard and soft skills for whatever rung of ladder you want to end up at.
Hello there, I've already sent my introduction in #👋community-intros. I've came to this channel looking for some advices. I'm a total beginner in photoshop and I would like to know how much time will it take to get my first client on freelancing sites (fiverr..). I really don't care about the amount of money, I just want to make my customer satisfied. As a student even 100$ a month will do fine to me. I don't want to pressure my family members into getting me some stuff, you already get it.
So any tips on what to focus, what area to first work on, how much time will it take to get my first client, how to practice. Literally anything will be appreciated.
Sincerely Aleksandar
Hi, so I finished Uni and figured it's difficult to find a job in an agency
I think it's because they prefer specialized people over someone who does everything (or my portfolio is not good enough, unfortunately they didn't give any clear feedback).
Could that be the reason? And if yes how do I commit to a style and technique, trends change so if I committed to one aesthetic wouldn't it be outdated at some point?
Many agencies aren't big enough to have a different specialist for each unique role. Showing that you DON'T pigeonhole yourself into a single skill is probably more beneficial.
Don't go to wacky with your photoshop/designs. Make sure to showcase things that are commercially viable.
For example, I think it would be nicer to show some example rebrand examples. (E.g. what if KFC was a luxury restaurant?).... vs.. some over-the-top album covers.
Statistically people that specialize are more successful
Okay thank you, I used to leave out non commercial work but others told me to include them, so i wasn't sure about that
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @plain sparrow
Basically everyone says one should specialize 😄
What is the best website to get commissions?
so like im still unsure of where to start with getting a job that pays consistently for my skills. does anyone know a company or site looking for young artists fresh out of highschool?
im a newbie but i would suggest fiverr as a start do some freelancing to get some money and then look for a job or smth like that
sadly im already there but i havent earned any money at all
how about on upwork?
or you can just find some marketing videos for fiverr
or freelancing in general
so far ive gotten images on adobe stock and i have a service on fiverr. thats about it at the moment
you can reach out to youtubers that you believe you can make better designs than they currently have
youtubers/twitch streamers/ any other social media
oh yeah sounds like a good idea. i guess i gotta find someone to start off working for
problem is that the only content creators i can potentially get in contact with are probably not the highest quality themselves(meaning like small ambitious youtubers)
its better if you start small
what i mean is if you go to the big content creators the chances of you getting replaced are high because many professional designers seek for Big creators
im not saying that you are a bad designer i havent seen any pieces of your work but there is too much competitiveness up there cause of the money
yeah i guess thats fair
btw i have uploaded some work if you wanna check it out. might upload something else tonight
My best advice you should check deviantart. Its the best start where people grew their art. Just continue post and follow everyone along the way.
So I want to break into the entertainment industry doing design, I specialize in sports design, merch, album artwork and movie posters. How could I make that a reality?

HEY GUYS!
Im looking for someone who can help me with photoshop thumbnail creation. preferably someone who understands youtube and how thumbnails work in the algorithm specifically in the gaming scene
it will be a paid weekly job where we link up. brainstorm thumbnail ideas and come out with a good thumbnail better than what i would have made on my own. it will be a really easy bit of money if you are experienced with gaming thumbnails!
when it comes to my requirements for the job all you need is experience in thumbnail making. either a portfolio or just previous work in this field. i would prefer someone from the uk but if you arent that is completely ok! the most important thing is being someone who is funny and has a good personality and can adapt to the current trends of youtube and our niche.
leave me a dm if you're interested!

Here is my portfolio and fiverr profile

If anyone can DM me and guide me properly how can i find work I'd be really thankful.
are you still hiring or not?
<@&548221840750018590> - Maybe you should consider renaming this to something like "Help for Hire", since very few people here actually ask for any advice?
or just do away with this channel all together since there is a whole "careers" server: Adobe Creative Career - https://discord.gg/acc
People just spam this channel with the same posts every day.
A pro for this channel would be a place to direct those request for could I get someone to do this or that for me
🙃
I enjoy doing Ps work for folks when i can but there are several that ask all the time and can get upset with what they got for free
just my 2 cents
what do you think the future of graphic design would be?
How much should i charge per commission? I can do literally anything but making people and im pretty confident in my abilities to manipulate photoshop to my will. On top of that im a certified professional in it and with school going on i dont have much free time to work
I also do t usually take more than an hour to finish most works
Maybe consider an hourly rate that you're happy with, and compare it against what you think people are willing to pay. https://www.payscale.com/research/UK/Job=Freelance_Graphic_Designer/Hourly_Rate
You mentioned that most of your work is done within an hour, so that this method might not be ideal...!
The average hourly pay for a Freelance Graphic Designer in United Kingdom is £20.58. Visit PayScale to research freelance graphic designer hourly pay by city, experience, skill, employer and more.
How old are you?
why does it matter? knowledge and experience is never tied to one's age
i think that matters in a sense of child labor. Some countries be very strict ya know.

Hey guys, im not sure where or if this is the right place to ask this but
im looking for advices on commissions and the financial stuff related with it
as in how I should price my work? categories it etc..
Depends on what you do for work I guess, image editing, composite, color correction should be fairly low on the price scale anywhere from 10-25ish dollars; Digital paintings, designing, and all the other "harder" stuff would be all the up from 25-300 depends on your service and skill level and the time and effort needed for the artwork
its all negotiable tbh
At least that's how I did mine
Hey Everyone we are hiring for a graphic designer role, here is the JD : https://doc.clickup.com/37472741/d/h/13qjf5-5624/99fffb7e5104040
Feel free to DM! 👀 It's an urgent opening so would extradite the process for a smooth hiring process.
hey what are some tips to get some money as a beginner to photoshop? is making youtube thumbnails a good start. how do I get my self out there to do so?
I suggest making thumbnails, profile photos, banners, etc. And do it for free if you want experience, or set your fees to like as low as possible to attract the most amount of people. Especially since you're a beginner, you should not set heavy fees
Can someone please help me with a stuck at render video? I'm waiting for more than half 1h and not even the menu for rendering appears, keeps loading after I press on file-export-render video. The video is not big at all and it's working pretty slow to even open a video file and edit it. I don't have a great pc but I used other programs for video editing in the past that did okay, is just always photoshop that runs so slow.
please don't use Ps to render videos... use Premiere instead
I don't have at least 40$ for a subscription that I want to use just 1 time, I don't plan on investing in this thing, is just homework. Photoshop has a free trial that is actually free, I hate programs that do this, why is it free if it's not?
if you want to do it for free, use Resolve
Photoshop is not a video editing program
Yeah, i wish it was is easier to understand how to do it there
simply don't. use a soft dedicated to editing video
Even so it works slow sometimes when I do artwork
I had problems in the past with photoshop where some files couldn't open because of the size but it was just a 3 layer drawing
great career advice
thx
Please don't post the same thing in multiple channels. Check #❓ask-a-question
so down bad LMAOAOAO
I have asked about this before, but is anyone looking for a social media intern? I graduate in a year with a bachelors degree in Digital Media at the University of Houston. If so, I can dm you my resume and I can get started on applying. We use Handshake as a career resource but to my opinion it does not work as great as it should be. I have use other sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. I just need hands on experience with social media marketing. Thank you
No sorry, but just for reference... doesn't your city library provide all local users with unlimted access to linkedin learning? (E.g. the old Lynda.com) - check it out if you haven't already.
