If you're trying to design a "logo" then you probably want it to be done properly. This means: creating the artwork as resolution independent vector art so that it can be used in many different ways. Easily rescaled, recolored, reformatted, and exported to various formats without quality loss.

What you have there might be fine for a rough idea but you might want to consider having it done properly (i.e. professionally).

Hmm. Logos are generally well defined and easily recognizable shapes. They don't rely on photo effects or backgrounds, etc.

I think it would help if we saw your 'logo', instead of the 'mark' you like.
Nike, Macdonalds, Xbox, apple, Microsoft can all get away with just using their 'mark' and it being identifiable. - They're all billion dollar companies with heritage and global sales. I think you need to include the 'name' in your logo

Not sure yet. There have just been some weirdness with pan/zoom and strange color artifacts in the canvas. Maybe its the Nvidia driver; maybe its Ps. Maybes its this version of the Nvidia driver with this version of Ps. Who knows. :)

There seems to be a "deterioration" over time. Like the longer Photoshop is open, the more likely the rendering issue appears. I'm apprehensive to report this as a bug because I can't deliberately reproduce the error.

Since, restarting Photoshop seems to fix the issue, I'm going to assume its related to Photoshop and not my graphics card. :)

"Deactivate Native Canvas" doesn't seem to change it.

I'm not running the latest Nvidia Studio Driver so I'm gonna update that and see if that helps.

At ~16:00 mins in, where you do that bizarre transform scaling to invert the layer... from the context menu, you could've just chosen "Flip Horizontal" there. It's easier. :)

Ctrl T to transform, right-click, Flip Horizontal.

That is presets toolbar of the plugin

It is mostly pointless since photoshop has already implemented its strongenst feature which is brush stabilization, both average smoothing and pulled string mode is available built in to the brush tool

It has other features to improve the technical drawing UX of photoshop but they are really specific, I do that kind of stuff all day and very rarely needed those

It is worth giving a shot tought, it may be a good fit for other people

Oh forgot to mention it has pressure sensitivity curves, it is overriding the tablet drivers pressure settings i think

Blending Modes work because there is a layer below to blend with. From these screen shots, I take it your goal is to export out a PNG that retains that effect. PNG doesn't support Blending Modes. A 32-bit PNG supports per-pixel opacity. You could bring down the opacity of that highlights layer but you can't retain the Blending Mode.

You could create a "merged" composite but if you're trying to match a color with an image that you don't have control of... like a t-shirt design app, it might be problematic.

Pardon me sir, I'm going to talk about some matter that I've been frequently asking myself "should I post in here or not?", it's quite intimidating for me, yet i've the stout to utter it for all of you in the server here in the general chat specifically, from the tone of my voice it sounds a bit extreme matter, but i promise all of you it's not.
I've got to use the official and legal version of adobe photoshop, since it's already not ethical to waste their prestigious and delighted efforts by the developers and designers and the entire team of Photoshop, well said, therefore i was thinking of getting a cracked version of photoshop for a daily use till i make some of dough and the pay it for the photoshop team somehow, i didn't quitely planned how I might pay for them, perhaps donation if they have one. I tried to get as much closer as not being involved in illegal issues, moreover I went to photoshop live support and contacted one of the staff, I asked him if I can get a cracked photoshop till i make some money to get a legal one emphasizing that's only for the matter that i'm not financially stable nor have a bank account or even credit card to pay for them at the moment. their response was sadly no, no way.
I'm really in need to someone who's generous, have a little altruism to share his photoshop account with me, and I'll learn to use it from online free tutorials or some free linked in library courses.

Did you try adjusting the opacity level a bit? Bring it down to like 50%. Not ideal but at least you can "see through it" in the PNG export.

Well... you have to work within the target file format. Blending Modes are mathematical operations that generally only exist within authoring applications. They aren't supported by generic file formats like PNG. PNG just knows grid layouts of pixels; each pixel can have an RGB value and an opacity value.

i basically created a new document with only the folds layer and duplicated so i'ts not so faded and then selected the area Edit->DefineBrushSet

then just used as a brush and that way all the white color disappeared.

it's correct technically, I see no errors other than you could have spent more time on masking the subject, the edges are not defined enough for my taste. Composition you used makes me focus more on the circle and the background than on the subject. if the document is built within indesign, I very much doubt that anyone would import that text there as an 'image' and not 'live text'.

yeah, you could use the Colour replacement tool to 'paint in' what you feel is the correct colour over the green. Use a bit of auto selection to make your job easier... . See quick rush/example here...

Just make a copy of your main plane layer, before playing with the colour replacement tool, since it looks like your 'edits' HAVE to applied to that layer. If you try and 'replace colour' on a blank empty layer above it... it doesn't do anything.

Sure. If you can paint. How do you expect to "replace" those areas like the bat and the player's waist?

All you want is the paint effect portions?

You'd just make selections around them and copy and paste them to another document. It might require some cloning and Healing brush to remove some of the text at the bottom.

That part might give you some problems, honestly. Getting rid of that text.

Probably easier to just get a Custom Brush and make your own paint strokes.

These are just paint strokes that I made. This is just quick but if you take your time, you can probably get exactly what you want...

Yeah Dhumanns method is the best since you can control the strokes and match it to your new image... - if you DID want to specifically select and use the dodgy low res res splodges you could do it with the Select > Colour Range

Drag it around a bit all over the reds you want to 'select'. - then once selected you can mask it.

And probably just make your own effects instead of hacking up an image that doesn't belong to you. :)

It's extremely poor quality anyways so I'm not sure why someone would bother. It seems like more work to get a bad result.

But then again, I'm always surprised at what people will go through to avoid doing it the right way. heh

im a bit new to all the tools and vocabulary cause what i usually do is just change the lighting of something and then slap on a bunch of shadows with the brush tool so i dont really know much abt anything else

for example with this image i made i just went to a website to cut out all the backgrounds for each object then i tol the brush tool and painted over everything

Anyone very experienced with Photoshop that can help me understand a shortcut and also how to achieve something when it comes to shapes?
I've been using PS for like 20 years, not a daily thing, but I'm quite comfortable with it, but there is this thing I can't understand.

1. What does the Layer>New>Shape Layer Via Cut actually do? When it comes to rasterized content, I know how it works, but shapes is a different thing
2. I have 2 shapes that overlap and whatever area that's overlapping (common to both shapes) I want to convert that to a new shape. So similar to New Layer Via Cut using a rasterized image using the marquee too, but in this case, with shapes.

1. it literally creates a new shape by cutting the selected one. So, virtually, it does nothing 😛
2. yeah, Photoshop lacks Illustrator's shape builder tool. However, you can use selecting a layer's pixel in pathfinding (ctrl-click a layer's thumbnail then ctrl+alt+shift-click another layer's thumbnail) to get a selection you want and then use paths panel to make this selection into a shape

1. I didn't experience that at all. When I have 2 overlapping images and use the shortcut, nothing happens...

@thorn solar Sure, PS is not a vector tool, but since they have shapes and some features, I would assume it would handle this.

now, at the very bottom of paths panel I can turn any selection into a path. If I need to be more precise, I can hold alt while clicking it and it will bring up a window where I can set the tolerance but I'll skip it this time

it gave me this more-or-less clean path... a matter of taste 🤷‍♂️ but it's a path now so I can do a lot more with it

@marsh cedar separate the subject to a new layer, desaturate the background and add the noise. place the logo between the background and the separated subject, you can use color overlay to make it white and use gradient tool on the layer's mask to make it fade away. that's all

I'm pretty rubbish at drawing, so my attempt wouldn't look great - but if you were able to draw that lovely picture, I'm sure you understand simple light/shade etc. - The only way I know about is like this quick video I've knocked up below.... - Same logic applies I guess.
