Hi all. I’m having such a hard time coming up with any idea I like for the day 6 challenge. I think I was too focused on doing similar to Kathleen’s demo. I just looked at description and it was pretty vague. Edit a photo using transform tools and filters. I’m thinking to just do something that fits that description. You think that would be alright or should it be tighter to the demo ?

Hi all, not sure if this is the right area, but here's one for my fellow windows users. The really cool images you get on the lock screen are actually downloaded to your pc, in the folder C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets. If you make sure that file name extensions is checked, as in the screenshot below, you can add .jpg to the end of each file name and voila, you have the jpeg of all of the awesome pictures 😀

I love following the PSDCCs, but I find it difficult to see what Kathleen is doing. I know I'm not experienced in PS but I thought these were suitable for beginners, and I don't think that description fits me. Does anyone else think it's all a bit too quick and like magic?

Discord actually has a lot of integration but it all depends on who is running the server! I don’t think there is threading unfortunately but it has a pool of apps to offer!

Does anyone now notice things that before they didn't after starting these challenges? First I don't like the tinting on the legs but that could be just personal preference there .. but horse manes and tails are hard believe me I get it... but i've learned so much from these challenges that I think they took the easy way out but just doing a feather on the mane here

For today's Challenge, here's how to relink assets:
press Cmd/Ctrl+F to bring up Search,
then click on Stock and search for these assets and add them:

When you click them or hit enter, it will be added to your current Libraries panel (Window > Libraries) and will also add it to your current document
You'll end up with 2 of the same layer, one linked, the other not, you can just delete the unlinked one

@safe anchor So I checked it out on IG, and you're right, there's a lot of hate. There are some things that could be done to make it look more "finished", but I like it. Most of the complaints are about Photoshop's feed in particular, they want more proffessional looking images, but I think that PS is trying to feature newer users to show their potential, so they can go fly a kite.

@rigid steeple I'm not sure if a certain layer is slowing Photoshop down, it could be because you have lots of layers or lots of programs running on your computer, especially graphic ones like Illustrator, Maya,Indesign, etc.

What i did was copy the autosave to my beast lap and save it as for there

You don’t need to use smart objects to make shadows. Smart objects are used for different reasons like vector graphics or for making perspective shapes.
Use black brushes to add shadow and set it to multiply and adjust transparency percentages to achieve the results behind an object you want shadowed. Use eraser to remove some of shadow if needed.

What i did was make the thing a smart object and lay it on the ground and turn it black and blur it as a shadow
The smart object was when i got the cutoout i want with all the colors so i smart objected it so i add some effects

@rigid steeple usually you start editing in Lightroom and bring those images into Photoshop for further treatment. Are you using Lightroom Classic or Lightroom CC?

Hi friends! New here! I just made this self portrait the other day and I’m not so sure if I’m a huge fan on how the eyes turned out. I used the alone stamp tool and tried making some shadows to make it appear more realistic but not sure if I got it right on point yet. Any tips?

Can always try clip masking the purple color into the object as well after adjusting it to black and white. Fill a layer above with the purple color, right click it and click create clipping mask. After that set the colored layer, layer mode from “normal” to “color”. Clip masking is just the no destructive form of editing. 👊🏼 @full sand
You can also clip mask adjustments from the adjustments panel. This is located in window > adjustments. 😃
This will allow you to erase around certain areas so if you want to have the chair back to its original color you can just erase the clipped layers without having to hit undo like 100 times.

You can type it in photoshop with the type/text tool
Choose the font
Change the colour roughyl

Either add a gradient overlay to the text layer (I think you have to right click and rasterise it)
or you can use a clipping mask and use a picture for the colour change
Then add a drop shadow as well

Almost got it @stark atlas 😉 I made that thank you text with a clip mask. I used a white oval and set it to opacity 25%.
@steep drum - you need to open the font in Photoshop first. Set your canvas size to 500px length and 200px width. From there use the type tool and type out your font. Select the font you have downloaded from dafont. After typing this, right click the font layer in your layers panel. Click the “blending options” and select “drop shadow” you can play around with a few blending options, these are fun to work with on font. After you do file > export > export as and export is as a PNG. Let myself or @stark atlas know if you need any further assistance!

@edgy wharf Read your comment on the stream chat. Like you, I am super good with my mouse and trackpad after 20 years of using them but I am finding the Wacom is so good for most of the tutorials. It can be skittish like the mice of old and I'm lefthanded so it is even more awkward. But, for instance, the painting tutorial, that was so much easier with the tablet. One thing I do sometimes is just open Photoshop or Illustrator and play with the tablet. I do my signature, create wacky pen designs and paintings, just fiddle around. It helps me get the feel.

@tawny lynx I was a fan of the MacBook but then switched over to the MSI Leopard and I quite enjoy it. It’s way more affordable and has a lot more power. The only thing that sucks is the battery life.

you can make a selection around the girls and then apply the hue and saturation layer or you can go on the image tab, convert the mode to greyscale and then duo tone and make read the dominant colour
there is also the gradient map adjustment layer
a lot of ways to pull that off

i have a photoshop file with about a paragraph to half a page worth of text on it
it has no images whatsoever
when i save it as a pdf the output is 10 MB!
how can i reduce the file size?
note i cannot rasterize the text (i.e. flatten/merge the layers) because i need to be able to select the text when viewing the pdf.

Thanks @tranquil marsh for the artboard lessons. They came in handy this week because I needed mock up a book cover with 6 different versions. I Created 1 artboard with title, spine, blurb, etc. Dropped the images in a library (for the first time) and saved myself a lot of work.
