In case you don't already know, you can do "filter/convert to smart filter" before camera raw to make anything you do in camera raw nondestructive and easily alter it.

That's one of the benefits of converting to Smart Object first. The Filter remain editable. Whereas if you just apply the filter to a pixel layer, it burns the effect into the pixels. Thus, its no longer editable.

"Worth it?" I mean, each person would have to consider that for themselves. If you derive some enjoyment doing computer graphics, image editing, photo-bashing, etc, I think that time you spend being creative is worth it.

I think its good to know as much as you can and not limit yourself to any one thing. Being flexible helps with employment opportunities.

A lot of people will tell you specialize in something and there is probably merit in that. However, if you do that, then you should go full-throttle into your specialty.

Well, if your goal is to earn money doing that then its worth learning the app. However, its just one tool. I would still be flexible. Understand how to use various tools together to speed up your workflow because that increases your dollar-per-hour revenue.

Then what I said above is probably more important to you. Learn how to use all the tools, Photoshop and other apps, AI/ML, coding, to speed up your workflow and increase your dollar-per-hour rate.

I think its good to learn as much as you can. This world is changing fast. It's my opinion that it would be prudent to remain flexible and be prepared to shift and change as the SD, CG, VFX industries evolve. Knowing the technical side of computer graphics industry has helped me a lot. However, I realize that might not be everyone's cup o' tea.

Personally, I quickly snagged a subscription after seeing what the image to video can do. Although I do think the biggest benefit will actually be for GIMP etc. users who miss out on generative fill/remove.

really cool and creative way you can do that without camera raw filter is to

add gradient map

and like put in the colors of the image into the map

from the darkest to the lightest

and put subtract on that shizz

and if you want to be a total weirdo

paint the whole image with the domanant color of the image and use subtract on that

I remember doing something similar a while ago. Turns out that was 7 years now!!! I still have the PSD and checked how I did it. It was quite simple (and this is possibly the least effort way) I just used a curves adjustment layer set to green and adjusted it until it looked good.

I have a question about Photoshop but I'm not exactly sure which category to put it in. I'm trying to move Photoshop from the computer that I have to a computer that I just rebuilt. When I go in to edit / presets so that I can export my settings and import them back in when I move it the export import function is not there. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, I do know that there are other ways that I can do it but I'd like to understand why this function doesn't show up.

Unfortunately, there isn't "one" export assets button that backs up everything. If you're trying to move Brushes, Patterns, Styles, etc, you should export those out individually. You should do that periodically anyways just to back that stuff up. Just like data files that are important.

I understood that there wasn't an export button for everything. But the problem is is that I can't even export some of the stuff out because there is no export button at all like there should be that was my question. I saved out my app data files and I'm going to do it that way. That's about the only way I see that I can do it and I have my brushes saved but I could not save my presets that was the one I was asking the question about.

Was trying to save actions and several other things which when you look it up as to how to do it you should be able to do it through that function that I don't have. The problem is is it even if I am able to export them out I cannot export them in without the import export function that should be in that section that I gave the screenshot of. It tells me that there may be a corrupt file or any something else but I have uninstalled and installed Photoshop several times and it just does not show up. I have an older version of Photoshop on my computer and it shows up there it just does not show up in the newest version.

You can save Photoshop actions by going to Window > Actions and then clicking the hamburger menu and selecting "Save Actions".

And I do appreciate your time that you are putting into it trying to help me, like I said I have saved my app data file and I'm going to transfer that when I reinstall Photoshop it should accomplish the same thing. Apps change. Features are moved and removed. Its not likely you'll find out "why" unless you ask the development team at Adobe. You could post to the Ps Community Forum, write a post and ask why or request that they reinstate the old feature. I can't help with "why" as I'm not privy to all of the decisions that are made.

Rectangles/Squares and placed into a grid where each square is the same size. The Date number should be small and tucked into one of the upper corners. Printed calendars are designed to have other information in them. Either printed special days or have space for people to write things into the boxes.

It's not merely about learning "how to make thumbnails" at all. Its about learning how to create image composites with Photoshop, i.e. mixing multiple image sources together to create unique designs. Start by learning how to use the app. This requires a number of different tools and techniques.

You'll just have to keep learning about photo-bashing and image compositing. I doubt there is a "course" about "that but maybe. I don't know of one course specifically. There are probably a lot of videos on the subject by different people focusing on a certain use-case.

They probably all have some AI images in them. "AI" for people who photo-bash is just another source for stock images.

All of these are just image composites. However, most of them have very good quality images. The people, foreground elements are probably all real photography due to the level of detail. The midground and background elements are probably a mixture of photography and AI generated images that have been composited together.

It could all be generated. With models like Imagen 3 and Flux Ultra, its getting really difficult to tell anymore.

If the background needs to be uniformly black, then you don't want to paint
Of course if you want to paint with effects like brush strokes, inks blobs or whatever, of course you will do that with a paint brush. But otherwise, no paint involved

"Photoshopping a PDF" would really depend on the items contained within the PDF. If you're talking about editing images, then perhaps Photoshop would be of use. Export the image out. Edit it. Re-insert it back to the PDF. If you're talking about editing the text in a PDF, Adobe Acrobat or Illustrator might be better.

Because of the Windows paths and folder naming, you're not going to be allowed to have two directories named: "Adobe Photoshop 2025"

Perhaps if you had a "Adobe Photoshop 2024" version installed, that might work.

Having multiple minor versions seem like it would be problematic for Windows.

When something is pure black, merely changing the hue as zero effect. You'd also have to change the lightness value of it.

You can only downgrade the General Release to various minor versions of the app.

Also RAM is only part of the story. Photoshop makes good use of the GPU, so you need decent GPU with lots of memory there as well

It also depends greatly what kind of work you do in photoshop. The requirements won't be the same if you do pixel art on fairly small file dimensions, or if you work on complex compositing, requiring lots of layers on massive panoramic images (and of course the whole spectrum in between)

To see if it would actually work before recomending it, I tried running it through filters/camera raw (if you're smart use convert to smart filters before hand while drinking smart water and make sure your smart car is parked right and see if you have any smart food in your snack cabinet and while you are at it please check on my high school friend named Dylan Smart to make sure he is doing ok) and I don't know what your going for but here's what I came up with and I recomend you trying it and dialing in what you actually are going for.

I can see it's not a real tattoo. Real tattoos have a slight blurriness around the edges (where the needle gets near the top of the skin and diffuses slightly)
Also, unless your tattoo artist is having an issue with their inks, it should look darker

As soon as you want a modicum of detail, you'd want the artist to draw the thing for you and transfer it. That's the only way to tell if the design will look good on a stretched skin for example. If you do a very thin lined design and wrap it around your arm, it's likely that it will look funky when you stretch your arms. (The muscle will expand it)
But also, a good tattoo artist would be able to tell you. That's why it doesn't pay to be stubborn there, they know what works and what doesn't.

Also a transfer tells you what you need to know about the artist drawing skills 🙂

Hello, I have Photoshop 2024 and recently found out I cannot record actions. This is a bit of a hinderance as I have a couple of simple actions I'd like to automate as it really hampers my work flow otherwise.
PSE 2024 still lets you load in actions from PS CC however, and I was hoping someone might have the time to help me create an action or two (they are really simple).

I have a game project I'm working on and I require my assets to be blown up to 3x their size in game, so I edit them at x1 the size, and then blow them up to x3 the size, save them and test them.
This is really time consuming as one could imagine.

While it may be drawn in Photoshop, this is clearly vector art, so the best thing is to master drawing, obviously, and use the vector tools, and in that case the pen tool.
Photoshop isn't strictly a vector app, but you can still use some simplified vector tools which would be what is used here.
The workflow is the same in both software, it's just that Illustrator has way more options to create gradients and effects that Photoshop is not necessarily equiped with.
But the most important there is to know how to draw!

What did you study originally? Most of the fundamentals will be that the logo needs to work at various sized (it should be a vector) it needs to work when done in different materials, so it has normally to be in black and white or have a black and white variant. It has to be simple and recognizable, so do not overload it with details. Play with shapes, negative space, etc.

you could try using "replace color," sampling the background, and adjusting the fuzziness until you get the desired result

or if that doesn't work, use the Object Select tool (or select subject) to get a selection of your subject, then contract the selection by a few pixels

that way replacing the color will ONLY deal with the background and how it fades into the subject, so it should work better

any color except white will "contaminate" partially transparent pixels, causing such a border to happen

Lightroom is a "system" for cataloging, enhancing, and maintaining groups of photos. It is helpful for a lot of things if your primary work is photography, you take a lot of snapshots that you need to edit quickly or re-use filters on many photos. If you're just working on individual images, Photoshop and ACR are probably fine.

The ironic thing about this image is: you really don't need the camera body. Its all about the glass and the sensor. The camera body is basically designed to the hold the lens and SD card. And just barely. If you get a large telephoto, you need help via a tripod or a peg. :)

hey so I worked on a big file for a couple of days, it's a collage, I drag and dropped alot of stuff, worked with photoshop for years, and I set my canvas and pixel size all to my final print size, but now after exporting, everything is squished. the mistake was: I WAS WORKING IN A 1,33 PIXEL ASPECT RATIO ALL THE TIME.
So now my result is completely wrong.
There must be a fix without having to redo the entire thing. I just can't figure it out and I have not found a solution online
