Well, I mean, you can use selection tools with a feather or a selection brush with a soft edge.

Check out this example:

You can see my selection in the Layer Mask. But if you look at the Variations in the Properties Panel, it still rendered part of the cup anyways.

The Mask was tight to my selection. However, Firefly rendered a lot more pixels than it needed. It creates a bounding box around the area, sends all those pixels to the cloud, renders the new pixels and sends a new rectangle back to Photoshop.

I think it just always wants to render a rectangle. It makes sense. I suppose it just gives you a bit more to ensure the new pixels match the original image.

well, ps quick selection isn't really perfect till now, so if it's something complicated like this one you will have to use another methods like the threshold or smth like that, if it didn't work I guess you'll have to do this manually with the layer mask or the pen tool which will take a lot of time tbh 😅

You can use AI for a lot of things in regards to computer graphics, e.g. ideation, pixel generation, inpainting/outpainting. However, these things should be directed by a person. Not put on "auto-pilot" to just do "whatever." That hardly ever turns out well. Also, at that point, you have to ask yourself "who is actually in control of the process here?" But that is an ethical and philosophical discussion that I don't think I'm prepared to have.

At the same time I'm adamantly against people just typing words into a prompt field, taking the image and posting it on Instagram as "MyArt." At least, edit the damn image in Photoshop. Change it up. Make it yours. Have some skin in the game. Do something other than just write a prompt. :D

And I'm like, "I've spent thousands of hours of my life doing stipple work with an ink pen going blind while tapping a million dots onto a piece of paper or meticulously cutting frisket film to airbrush an image or spending thousands of dollars to buy art supplies. This is me reclaiming my time and money." :D

After googling, it looks like frisket film is exactly what I was wanting for a spray painting prject but I just didn't know it existed so thanks for bringing that to my attention. I think AI is a super valuable tool to have access to but I consistently feel uneasy thinking about the future of it. Probably from too many terminatorish movies... But making things more simple and user friendly, count me 100% in.

I've tried all of them but I'm not into the others. Photoshop has more features and I'm in for all of other apps, services and interoperability with their other Adobe apps. So its not really worth my time to learn other apps.

Time is a huge factor when learning software. Also, the amount of resources available: tutorials, assets, brushes, etc

Open source and cheap apps are great until you have a problem. Sometimes there little to no documentation. Help can be difficult to find.

Out of these open source things only Blender, Krita and Godot have succeeded(Godot not yet but it will definitely be at the level of Unity in 10 years)

Blender is a unicorn. Also, Blender used to be terrible. Its only in the last bunch of years has it really excelled. And a lot of open source projects are wonderful if you don't mind going it alone for a lot of things. Like you're good at figuring things out. Write C/C++ and can compile your own add-ons, etc.

Most of the home-brewed A.I. stuff are all GitHub projects and if you're into that and are technical, can write code, you can do some amazing things. If not, probably not as fun. heh

Well, you've got GIMP. And you can use Unreal Engine for free. If you're good with those and Blender, you can do a lot.

Gimp is no where near complete compared to ps

And Unreal

Idk how to put it here without getting banned

This means no variables with genders, and no words like blacklisted and whitelist etc

They can turn a wheel one day and scan code of each newly released game and ban you for that

Then there is Unity which can return a fee per download one day even if it's from the pirated version of your game

Both look bleak. And that's why I believe the Godot will be a go to in 5-10 years. Because you are not risking losing all your progress because of some stupid CEO decision

If you mean the spacing in the first row of the cell - this is not a tab. This is a cell offset. Set in the cell style options.

If you mean something else, please show the hidden characters with Alt+Ctrl+i and the Styles panel. Show the new screenshot, please.

If not go to "window">worspace

and choose "essentials" it will put everything back to the stae it was when you downloaded PS.

If you like it any other way, arrange it as you wish and save it as a workspace. That way you can always go back to where you were

Ain't going to comment on he fact that you are using a pirated software, however, I can comment on the state of your sensor.
I mean WTH!

You need to bring that to a shop or if you're good with finicky stuff find a good online tutorial on how to clean your sensor. It has to be done fast. The more you shoot, the more the sensor heats up, "burning" the dust onto the sensor.

If a bit of dust is burned, then all you can do is send the camera back to the factory for a sensor replacement

And it costs 🙂

Also Photoshop is only £10 per month so if you can afford Nitro, you can afford Photoshop #justsayin

A good way to learn the basic is to folow the tutorials with Photoshop.
Go to help>hands on tutorials
and choose "beginner" in the drop down menu.
You'll be able to follow along the tutorials directly within Photoshop, handling tools and menus as you learn

Hi, I am looking for some help with trying to make modifications to a texture dds file, used as a mask, for a human game model. I believe this is the file that needs to be modified to give the model a wet look. When I say wet look I don’t mean that the model has water droplets on the skin. I think a better way to describe it would be to use the word “oil” rather than “wet”. I am trying to recreate the look the model has when it enters the water in the game and make that look permanent rather than just when the model enters the water.

I am not a mod creator but more of a mod editor. I have performed modifications to mods on games like Resident Evil 2 & 3, and the Witcher 3. However, I haven’t ever attempted to make a modification like this and I cannot find any tutorials online that really discuss what I am trying to do, which is the reason I am stuck. Also, I don’t know if the normal texture dds file would need to be edited as well. Adobe Photoshop CS6 v13 using Intel Texture Works plug-in v1.04. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not familiar with your issue so I won't answer directly, but as far as I know, newer versions of Photoshop will not be able to open a .dds file. Older versions could but with the aid of a 3rd party plugin which is no longer compatible

Maybe someone have programmed another plugin, but I couldn't tell you

Use the Direct Select Tool (black arrow). The click on the shape. Then change the Stroke and Fill Options in the top Options bar or the Properties Panel.

This is not necessarily grain, but more a texture applied (a simple black and white photo with a specific blending mode and opacity applied on top)

Search for "grunge texture" "dirt texture" etc online (even in the free section of Adobe stock where you're more likely to find textures you can safely use, in high resolution.

Normally those squares indicate a transparency. They shouldn't appear when you import them. That said some cheeky people who don't want you to steal their design when they try to sell them (which is fair enough) will put a faint checker pattern that will still appear (and give you that transparent one when you pay)

You really can't unless you got an image that is of a higehr resolution: Say your bell is 120 px X 120 PX and you want it to occupy the whole of your canvas which is 1200 X 1200 px (10 times bigger)

@radiant shoal You can upscale it using different interpolation methods and AI apps, but what it does is "invent" pixels when they are none

So first, let us know what is the pixel count of the image you want to look not-pixelated, then tell us if it looks pixelated at its original size already, or only when you try to enlarge it

Generally you'd want a high contrast so the text is readable

So one thing you could do is take a colour that is the opposite , in the spectrum, of the colours you have in the BG>
You can use colour tools like this one

and use their contrast checker (in the accessibility tools) to see which colour will give the best contrast

If anything feilas, then you can try any colour but with a stroke (black?) around the letters to make them stand out

ok imagine a square like u have and it is glowing with white glow, and u make a new layer that is a gradient like blue-purple and make that a clipping mask over the glow, the glow should then be colored blue-purple

just like if u had a solid white shape and u did a mask with the gradient the shape would be that gradient

or even just a solid color to make it even simpler

but my end goal is that i have a more complex image/gradient that i want to use as a mask for the glow that i currently have to rasterize the glow each time i want to adjust the glow or any layer style apparently

The Pen Tool creates vector graphics. You just draw with it. The points are editable after you draw. You can assign it a Stroke Color and Width.
