You need to erase or mask the black.
One solution is to create a selection of the black, and use it to maskthe layer.
There are 100 s of ways to create a selection but in that case a good way would be to go to select>colour rang and in the drop down menu choose "black"

Now your image, if it's the original size, isn't very large, so consequently, the quality may not be top notch

What do you need it for? to put on a website? forum, generally online? or is it to be printed?

There would be two ways (and depending what the image is for). Either convert your whole image to CMYK, the black and white elements will stay black and white (image>mode>CMYK), or you can change the mode to CMYK again, and trun every colour and tone (inc the black and white) into spot colours (colours with a specific code like a Pantone code) - for things like screnprint separations etc

So the first thing to do in any case will be to change your document mode, and be prepared that the Black and white elements change slightly if they were either in RBG or Grayscale, because CMYK are inks and - to be simplistic - inks do not react like light

I'm going to assume that this is a one-off design you want to print, and the author is ok with this. - and not that you're stealing someones artwork for commercial gain. 🙂 - Video below.

That said, your printer may come back and ask for a vector graphic, which in that case, you will likely struggle if you just nicked the image off the internet.

are you sure you'd like to use the pen tool? this is used to create vector paths. if you want to fill the selection you can use the paint bucket tool or the brush tool and paint on a new layer

First I opened the image, and chose the magic wand tool
see how the tolerance is very low since the background is all white. Don't put it at 1, because since the image are JPEGS there is always a variation particularly near the text

actually here is my layer stack so you'll understand how I did it

Unfortunately not possible in Illustrator but in illustrator you can auto trace the image and it will become a vector file

So I clicked on the white part, and created a mask with that selection

then I went on to zoom in very very close and selected the remaining white bits that will always get forgotten

To help me, I created a coloured layer as a background so the white can easily be seen (the brown/tan one)

Then I zoomed in a little bit closer and painted with a very tiny brush all the missing bits. Then I created a solid colour with the same colour as your original logo and copied the mask onto it. That way I get rid of all the artifacts in that colour that the JPEG format can produce

Again, it's easily understandable how once you see my screenshot

With illustrator auto trace, don't even try to get a satisfactory result with just one go. There will be lots of trial and errors and you'll need to tweak all the sliders in the "advanced section"

It should be the same than the method I gave you yesterday. Unfortunately I am not at home today and I don't have Photoshop at hand so I can only tell you from the top of my head. If the magic wand doesn't help., you can use the colour selection (select>colour range) and choose white in the drop down menu.
You can also have a look at a method involving "calculations" you'll have to google that one, there are lots of tutorials available, if you see one with a bridge in the thumbnail, it's one of the best.
Also be sure you check #1042476087642423369 . Volunteers here spent a hell lot of time putting these tutorials together and they'll save you in more than one occasion

I've figured out what the problem was. For some reason my image was set to pixels per centimeter, not pixels per inch. After changing that and resizing it, it went down from 1.5 gb to 300 mb. Problem solved!

➡️ I record my voice over with my horrible accent, reading my text, trying to be cheerful and fluent (good luck with that) while my video is running so I have a good sense of the timing etc.
➡️ I use either Adobe Express or Adobe premiere to extract the voice over and turn it into a text (so I can use it to generate my AI voice over and use it as a close caption system)
➡️ I upload that text into an AI voice over platform (or maybe Premiere can do that? I have no idea!)

I would never ask anyone to do my job BTW (or I'd pay them if I'm really beyond that skillset)

I don't mind if it takes ages me doing it if I can learn it

But I don't know if it would be the right workflow, or if I can do that in a simpler way

Premiere can't generate AI voices. However Audition has text to speech, if you don't mind it sounding robotic. It's not like the new AI model voices that sound very close to being human.

yes, absolutely. you know your material. you will be able to feel the flow of things correctly. there is no better way to lay out what needs to be said where than to do it yourself. then time aligning a new voice to work at the same pace as yours is really easy to be honest.

If you have a thick accent, I think you're going to get the most accurate results if you can input text.

That's what I thought. I am not a natural speaker anyway, so I'll probably record it in chunk and place them along the timeline as I see fit. I expect each chunk to last only a couple of seconds and having to record them multiple times to get the right flow

all latin based languages (referred to as the love languages) are so similar desipite being different that one you learn one, all the dominoes fall and people find it much easier to learn the rest. because they share that root languge. So much so that if someone speaking spanish talks to someone speaking portugese, they can actually understand each other despite speaking two different languages. because of that root language.

But there are tons of things in this world that share a root language and it's a bit of a hack for learning. so with the love languages, if you can learn fluent spanish, it's THEN really easy to learn Portuguese, French, Italian, and Romanian.

But have you ever noticed that someone who knows how to play piano can easily learn guitar, floot, violin, etc? That's because all instruments share the root language of music theory. You learn one, it's easy to learn the rest.

OK, so here's the point of the whole thing. All this creative field stuff shares a root language. It makes it super easy to learn. People ask me how I am so good at photoshop, and audio mixing, and video editing, and VFX, mograph, color correction, etc. It's because they all share a common root language. Learning to edit videos is actually wayyyy easier than you think, as long as you know someone who can show you the proper language translations. You're like a Spanish speaking person trying to learn Portuguese. Most of this stuff you already know and don't even realize it. That's the secret. I'm good at all this stuff because I realized, metaphorically speaking, that if I got really good at latin, I could speak all the languages.

For example, curves in photoshop, curves in premiere and in after effects. To learn how to be a video colorist, for someone who is a pro at photoshop, would take a couple days to get the hang of.

But what about audio mixing? open audition and pull up a stock plugin called dynamics processing. IT'S A CURVES ADJUSTMENT FOR AUDIO. It's exactly the same. not "kinda like" it's IDENTICAL. What does a curves adjustment control? It controls dynamic range. top right is your brightest bright (white) and bottom left is your darkest dark (black). and that's what is recognized as dyanamic range, in film production and photoshop, and premiere, and after effects. so if you know of, now you know all the others, and how a camera works.

What does the dyanmics control plugin in audition do. it controls dynamic range. dyanmic range in audio is top right, the loudest loud, as loud as you can get (0db aka white). what happens when you go over 0db. same thing that happens when you over expose and lose visual information, it's called CLIPPING. SAME THING. bottom left of the plugin is your quietest quiet. total silence (aka black). if you can understand dynamic range, NOW you can color correct in premiere in after effects, you can manipulate photos in photoshop and lightroom, and you know how to work a camera during production AND you know who to mix audio! That's ONE example. Dynamic range is just one word. but they all share the ROOT LANGUAGE. If you speak one you can learn to speak the others.

so you can read all that whenever you get around to it. but if you're good enough at photshopping, you're absolutely capable of getting good at premiere. and after effects. and audition. and so much more. you just have to realize the root language that's being spoken.

If you want to start off with something a little less advance. dig deep in the crates with Noyse. If you saw a dope mixtape cover in the 2000's they were copying Noyse. He's a gifted graphic designer when it comes to the very stylized look. and he's a bit more "beginner friendly" than Benny. quick tip, he uses some kind of vintage topaz plugins in some tutorials. you can pull off the same looks if you experient with photoshops filters. if you want to get that smooth skin look that almost cartoon, gloss skin look, at little trick I use is to use the camera raw filter and to go a little overboard on the noise reduction. as a stylistic choice it can achieve some really cool results.

You can control the global contrast with the dodge and burn method. Try creating a new soft light layer and painting it with white and black. Painting it with specific colors will help you achieve the effect from the third photo

Try selecting the outside, and then use Select> Expand and expand the selection until it eats through that ugly part of the line and delete it.

If those parts are just one colour like the grey you are showing here, use the "magic wand" (the middle icon in my screenshot)
click on the grey part with it, make sure you adjust the tolerance accordingly (if the area is just one colour, you can adjust the tolerance very low, it will be easier for you to select everything but not the rest)
Check the contiguous tick if you don't want the same colour selected outside that area. You'll get a selection. Now you can mask or delete using that selection

@strong pecanwhat I would do is get the image you want from the ai site then use the select tool like the magnet select tool or the object selection tool then select the body part you want then cut and paste it with ctrl x ctrl v then it will paste it in place and name that layer like arm for example do that with all the body parts then save the photoshop file with the different body part layers then load it into adobe animate or toon boom or what ever animation program your using

also make sure you do a tutorial on how to name the layer parts I think adobe animate needs you to put a + at the start of each layer like example +Right Arm +Left Arm +Head +Right Eye +LEft Eye +etc

you can also do 2d animations in blender which is free if you cant afford adobe animate or toon boom

After Effects is a large, feature-rich application. It will take time to learn and to become proficient with it. I would suggest starting with the materials that come with the application. Open AE and visit the "Learn" section...

Lmao I actually ended up making the logo myself and not just one, but three different variations 😂 Shows how you should never doubt yourself! It took me a while, but I did it! It’s a great feeling when you figure out how to do something you’ve been struggling to do! First two logos were made using Place It (don’t recommend it bc it’s paid, hence the watermark and lower resolution, but it was one of the top results when I searched up “how to make a sports team logo” on YouTube) and the last one was made using Canva, which is my go-to Photoshop alternative for simpler tasks like basic logo designs.

Here is another logo design I made on Canva, similarly to the third one above. This one was for my fantasy hockey team called the “Washington Hockey Team”

It's not "straightforward", but can be done. First of all, duplicate that layer. Then go to select>color range and in the dropdown menu choose white

Then you obtain a selection of the white. You can then erase the white in your layer and the erased bit will become transparent

That layer, when you create a new project is locked for a reason. You shouldn't be able to draw on it unless you consciensciously unlock it (and it's lock it again in your case)
That's why it's locked so you can avoid drawing on a white background instead of a transparent background. It's locked and called "background" because it's meant to stay as a background to let you visualise your work.

I'm having this issue; I have a 18 artboard project, around 3 GB in size. Everytime I try to make and export into pdf (using the "Export artboard to PDF" command/ script, the process runs through, pops the succesful message. only to find a 0KB PDF file.

Exporting one artboard as .pdf or .jpeg or .png, seems to work fine. I can't export artboard to pdf.
Any solution?
