Hi, once you double click a smart object, such as the "Edit Me" layer, it opens a new document (what you call a tab. Once you've done your edits, you can go to File>close, and it will save the changes, and update the document it was called from.

Do you have Photoshop, and what exactly are you struggling with? Removing a glow will not be easy, I’d try to select the flames and increase the selection to get the edges, invert this, then paint over.

Generative Fill probably won't do it on it's own. It's likely going to require some hand-painting as well.

If you need the kanji, I'd suggest you duplicate the original image and isolate those pixels using a Layer Mask.

Not particularly. But you could do it with a combination of compositing techniques.

Unfortunately, it would require some general Photoshop skills. Advanced Ps skills to make "passable" or photo-real. I can't really instruct you in that. You'd have to do a bunch of basic tutorials to start with.

You can do a lot to improve the overall image quality by using Adobe Camera Raw as a filter inside Photoshop. This includes reducing the noise and adjusting brightness/contrast, saturation, etc.

I use linked assets in both apps. Illustrator vector art in Photoshop. And linked Photoshop documents in Illustrator. Hopping back and forth. There is sometimes a slight lag when saving but it doesn't seem problematic.

every time I open it it's something new that makes this junk even more frustrating to use than it already is

I'm talkin like, layermasks that affect layers while disabled, or even completely removed acting like they're still there. Entire buttons like lock transparent pixels just flat out not working with nothing else complicating the situation

I don't even care to open tickets or ask people about my issues anymore because they're so numerous, and nobody even knows how to fix them because nobody can replicate them in the first place

use gimp or one of many free programs that are just like photoshop. You really just hope randoms will do things for you? you do not need the photoshop AI to do that. can be redone very easily. take you 2 min

you could even use MS paint if you really needed to

You can use a LUT. An Adjustment Layer > Color Lookup > Moonlight or DaytoNight will do it. Then I did other adjustments with Adobe Camera Raw.

Then you can try recording an Action. Open the "Actions" panel. Make a new Action. Hit the "Record" button. Go through the File > Save as... routine. After saving. Stop the Action. Then try to play it back on another file.

There should be a + sign to make a new Action. Then there is a "Record" button to record the Action. Make a new Action and record the "File > Save as... PNG" and then stop it.
