How well the document performs is related to size/dimensions, PPI of the PSD and is directly proportional to your system resources, i.e. amount of RAM, Scratch Disks, etc. An 8x12" at 300 PPI on a system with few resources might be sluggish inside the app. Its difficult to understand the issue without knowing more about the document size/resolution, your computer, etc.

They do a merge of all the layers using a keyboard shortcut (Shift Ctrl Alt E, Shift Cmd Option E on the Mac) which gives you one layer with all of the elements combined.

Then they get the Clone Stamp tool and clone those ridges on the floor.

Nice work! Looks like the design is consistent throughout in terms of color and shapes. The biggest problem right now is that this PDF is huge. 120MB, and it doesn't show up properly without downloading. And then it's super slow when scrolling.
Why does a college need an airplane livery design? I think for the presentation it would be a good idea to explain some of your choices for the mockups and how they carry on the brand.

Hi 👋 I am thinking of buying a license for Adobe products and came across a reseller that offers licenses at small prices and claims to be a "Certified Reseller".
The site has very good Trustpilot ratings and therefore seems relatively reputable.
Nevertheless, it seems a bit strange to me, since the prices are very low. According to the reseller, this is because they sell so-called "VIP licenses", which can also be used by private individuals, for example.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
When I asked in the Adobe chat support, I was only sent a page where you can view any partners. When I asked whether the reseller was included, the chat was simply ended by the employee?!

With branding usually the designer comes up with a strategy. I don't see any marketing elements, colleges and universities usually put a lot of effort into building an ecosystem both online and I've also seen posters on public transport and outside. I'm not sure how much of that this particular college wants to invest in, but it's usually part of the strategy. Without knowing how their current branding looks and how much work you've put into this, I can only recommend either basing this on how many hours you've put into this or charging for the project, which would depend on how much experience you have as a designer.
Perhaps try to come up with some numbers and decide during the final conversation, judging from how interested they are in the project.

Some of the tools I guess will only work if your layer is rasterised. - it must have automatically done it.

Worst case scenario is to just use the text tool again, write the word again... and then in the layers panel you can DRAG and DROP the nice layer effects you made, from the OLD layer... to the NEW text layer.

I think you'll have to do a bit of playing around.... maybe start with the object section tool first, and to select the crown... and then use the magic wand tool (we a tolerance of maybe 5%) to then pick out the 'gaps' between

remember that you don't have to 'select it' all in one hit. - select what you can, then MASK it... then with the mask applied, you can then go in and make more mini selections, and then paint them 'black' to mask out more and more....

Hi! No worries, you're not doing anything wrong. What you got there is a set of brushes that just look like brush strokes. They don't look like they're actually for drawing. Try using the default brushes that came with Photoshop or download a set that's for drawing or painting, whatever you may need.

Profile pictures are used for any social media where someone might need to recognize you. A logo can be used as a profile picture, but you don't need your profile picture to be a logo. Meanwhile a logo is usually used for brands where, again, they want to be recognized, but on a professional and business level. So a logo can either be something that shows what your business is doing, or it could just be an identifying wordmark or symbol. The main difference here is profile pictures are personal and usually not professional (unless used by a brand!!)

Basically I need to convert all the red to the same shade of red, I can't have any shading or blur

Some other software I use really benefits with solid colours with no shading and I need to basically vectorise the images manually

I've tried running it through several vector converting programs but they always deform the image too much

I just need all that red, to be one solid shade of red and I can't quite figure it out (I would google but I can't sus out how to word it)

Same with all colours in all my images really, just need to flatten out all the colours, as I said pretty much vector all of it but manually

You can try Select > Color Range. Then play with the fuzziness value. Once you have the selection, fill it with the desired color.

@formal wolf You can't export slices for a PDF. Slices were designed for old school html/xhtml, using Export for Web (legacy) they only work there. If you want to embed links in a PDF you need to use Adobe Acrobat DC (edit mode) or use InDesign. Keep your type vector in Photoshop and you can select it in Acrobat DC.

I found a free work around: I just tried Google Draw, it will allow you to insert a link, and export PDF's with that link included. So make a blank document the size you need. Export your document as a PNG, bring it into Google Draw and add your links there. I think you could add transparent box with a link to define general area links. Worth a try if in a pinch.

Hi! You should be able to replicate this with just drop shadow gradients. If you create a shape and add an inner shadow and make it come from the top left, then another one from the top right. I was able to create this just using inner shadow and drop shadow layer styles.

To get the invisible shape I lowered the fill opacity to 0 in the layer style options.

Hey everyone, could someone explain to me about Levels? It's the black sample point that I am not completely understanding because I am under the assumption that if I swatch a color, what ever is darker than that color will go black? Therefore anything pure white should go black.

Update: What I have found is that when using a black to white linear gradient; the black swatch in Levels makes the darker transition black, that I understand but what is now throwing me off; it seems to in to the whiter transition too. this is not how it works. your text has a gradient on a mask so it disappears gradually so it just blends the text's solid color with the solid background

if you want to use gradient tool on it then add a new layer above the text, clip it with ctrl+alt+g and apply the gradient

if you want to accurately recreate what you sent, you have to sample the gradient points from the very ends. It might not be possible for some of it though, you'll have to eyeball those

Hey! Color theory is tough. You can use online tools such as Adobe Color, or find reference images where you like colors that you can use. But all in all, it's the creative part of design/art and it takes a long time to learn.

I believe that's because you're committing to an annual plan, which is cheaper than the month-by-month plan. So it's 30,24/yr but it's going to charge you 2.52 monthly.

Yup, exactly! You could also try to clone stamp it, but that is also really difficult when you don't have a good reference point.

Hi guys, I need your help. I can't get #000000 when using the color picker. I can only set it to #020202. If I stretch the color picker to half of my screen, I can get #010101, but never true black. If I want to get perfect black, I have to open color picker in a separate window by clicking on foreground or background color. Alternatively, I can use "D" shortcut, but that changes both colors. It's like I can't set it to 0% Brightness. Also he same thing goes for Saturation. The max I get is 99%. Any ideas how to fix it?

That's strange, but you could get around it by simply changing the hex code or HSV. Are you working with CMYK by any chance?

what happens if you paint with black on the canvas and then you color pick it? is it still black? And does your problem apply to every project and is your ps updated?

If you increase the canvas size and use Content-Aware Fill on the new, empty space, you can get something like this. Then you can Layer Mask and paint and Clone Stamp your way to victory. :)

I'm working in RGB, but switching it to CMYK don't change anything. Changing hex by typing works.

Also picking black from canvas works - it's only color picker problem. And yes, it's occurs in every project.

RGB, CMYK, Grayscale and even Bitmap. In the last one it forced #020202 to be #000000 on canvas, for obvious reason. I could use eyedropper to choose it, but still I can't choose pure black in color picker window.

Hi! You can move things using the arrow keys. By holding shift and pressing, you can move it 10px instead of 1!
You can also move something with your mouse while holding shift to move it in a straight direction.

Yes, the best option is probably to use the grid feature. You can also move objects super accurately by changing the X and Y coordinates in the Transform panel under the Properties window.

Sometimes initial results aren't perfect and you have to use the Clone Stamp and hand-paint, etc to make the transitions appear more "natural." Other times, its shocking at how well it does just by itself. :)

I work as head of digital in a pretty decent design agency, and for me as an employer in my company, grades really don't matter that much.

They obviously help a lot in general life, and for companies like google, who likely get 100,000's of applicants, I can imagine that they get to pick the top grades...

In all honesty though, as a real-world employer, I just want to see an amazing portfolio. I want to see case studies (even if they're made up!) - e.g. - "This is the current logo for the local Italian restaurant that I walk past every day on the way to work.... - here are some alternative, designs that I'd propose, and see how they could be used on the top of a menu, business card and even the store front. ".

That said.... to me at least, good grades show that someone can focus, stay on task and learn. - even if it's in a completely irrelevant field.

Also, its not coherent at all as to what is going on in the image. Not that coherent imagery was really a prerequisite for art. However, the problem with a lot of these A.I. monstrosities is the mess they make. People are calling it "art" without a human hand involved other than typing out a prompt are in error. In this case, its really just the algo putting pixels somewhere.

@desert portal - The problem I have with A.I. text-to-image prompts (or one of them anyways) is: people roll the algo dice and something comes out and they're like, "Yeah, this looks like [insert keywords]" and then they design around it. Rather than crafting a prompt, getting what you want and then using computer graphics skills to make it a great image/design. The art direction happens as some bizarre accidental process instead of real artistic intent to create something by sheer will. :) I guess there is nothing inherently wrong with creating art by accident. But if you're doing that every time, I don't know.

Also, just coming from experience.... if you plan to ever screenprint this or digitally print direct to substrate with a bog standard online supplier, Note that your image will be entirely ruined if you print on any t-shirt darker than your example. - printing on red for example will just make the whole thing look brown

Oh sorry. Yeah. I wrote the font normally, then turned it into a smart object, then held cntrl and clicked it on the layers panel. This then 'selected' the text with the dotted lines. - i then went to another fresh layer and made a mask from the selection.

And then I can copy and paste any rainbow colours etc into the layer with the mask on it.
