If you want those kind of straight lines in Photoshop and have them not looking jagged, you need to use vector tools (lines, rectangles etc)

Admitedly, Photoshop is very limited in vector work, so personnally that's something I would do with illustrator (way simpler and there are automatic tools to make that raindow effect)

The mask should be highlighted so PS knows where you want to paste it

If you highlight the layer, it will paste on top (you can't paste within a layer)

Exporting Layers that are held in groups for recolor adjustment layers and such, Need them as 1by1 elements as singular PNG objects with changes applied, I've batched Quick Export as PNG on groups which gave me desired result as it was just a batch of PNG objects with changes applied, but question is, Is there any way to do the same thing BUT ALSO preserving their positions so that they could be easily pasted into the document being already on their correct spot, because it's a bunch of small objects on a 8000px project and it's quite a hassle to arrange them back into places

I'm trying to make the black parts outside the sun in the pic in the link blacker because in printing it there is unsighlty specks everywhere (because of suns extended atmoshphere etc. But I can't really figure out a way to fade it well with the suns visible atmosphere. The nonvisible atmosphere keeps showing up in print and I want to eliminate that. Radial gradient was my first attempt but It's just not great

it is pain that the border and the background are very close in color
if (select subject) option in the select tap did not help
try to fill the background with other color to see if photoshoot will be able to differentiate those borders from the background

the hard way is to use laso tool and go with the border line by line
not the easised way but the one that will give you the best resolt

Sorry, I'll give more details.
That's the real design I have (first screenshot). When I try to edit the text, I have a lot of graphic problems all of sudden (second screenshot). I also notice now that my whole computer seems slow/frozen at times. It only happens when Photoshop is opened. Last time, an update fixed it but right now everything is fully updated so I'm not sure where to look at...

And those issues actually appears if I export the image as a PNG file

yeah its gonna take some doing, you'll need to use a mix of tools like magic wand to clear the background or even use a background brush to clear it. If you're new to photoshop I'd check out the different tools and watch the videos that pop up when you hover it and also check out some YT videos on PS for beginners.

Probably your stroke is set to "Screen" blend mode in the layer Fx panel (Black is a neutral color in screen mode but since the background is Transparent you can see stroke but as soon you have something below Black disappears).

We need to see the layer style panel (Stroke section) to see what blanding mode is applied... It was just a deduction... But it also could be any of the " Lighten Blending Modes" > Lighten, Screen, Color Dodge, Linear Dodge (Add), Lighter Color. Or one of the "Inversion Blending Modes" > Difference, Exclusion, Substract. For all these blending modes Black is the "neutral colors".

Hey! I tried to send you this video but doesn't pass in DM so I share here to answer your question
"there are grey lines appearing... What could be a best approach to remove those white lines?>
To clean the artefacts (lines) you can follow steps shown in the video.
1- Copy your texture (ctrl+J) ,
2- Apply a surface blur to make the artefacts disappear. **Note Surface blur values can be differents for your original file (this filter is "size dependant")
3- Create an Inverted mask( alt+click on mask icon) to hide the blurry image then
4- paint white on the mask to reveal the area where the artefacts are.
A bit tedious but it works.
Note: I also tried generative tools and honestly this old school technique is by far the best 😉

Ok it's normal ... You're zooming out... It's just the preview display. When you're zooming out Photoshop has to "choose" what pixels to show.
Details visible at 100% zoom still there as long as you export your file full size. If you want to export your file in a lower resolution (downscale) I suggest you:
1 - Make a copy Merge of your image on top (select the layer on the top of the pile > Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E) and make it a Smart Object then
2- in the Export> Export As... window > check with attention the preview of your design in the resolution asked.

Not sure to understand your question but the reason why is good to "Copy Merge" a design before the export process is some filters (adjustment layers, color look up table, gradient maps...etc) can give weird discrepency at the export - Making a "Copy Merged Smart object" on the top Flatten/embed all of them in a single layer and keep the exported image conform with the original design. Not mandatory but that's a routine for me now.

I used a gradient map.

In your example above, the perspective is off, a line, which is perhaps 20cm wide... would literally disappear into NOTHING when it reaches the far end of the field.

No way to do this automaticly. If you want to make a straight selection you need to use rectangular marquee tool or Polygonal lasso tool! What tool are you using to get your selection… Perhaps you could get a better result with different settings?

Ok the problem there is there are a lot of color artifacts in your image so Photoshop is struggling to identify which pixel it should select or not… Try to change the tolerance value and see if you can get a better result.

The idea is to change that setting before the resize. But if your starting image is a highly compressed JPEG you’ll still have artifacts.

That’s the property of color blending mode. In this mode if you use any color with a low saturation value everything under will turn « grayscale ». Try to play with the saturation value of your colorfill to see the difference.
What effect are you trying to achieve? Perhaps you’re not using the best blend mode…

Sorry for the missunderstanding. I forgot they named "Blending options..." the access to the "Layer Style" window... My bad.
Honnestly, I don't know what version you're running (my Layer menu doesn't look like yours (I'm on V26)) and on my end Blending options are in Layer>Layer Style>Blending Options...
I haven't use this way to acces Layer Style window for "decades"... You have a quick access via a click on the "Fx" icon at the bottom of the layers panel or (quicker) Double click beside the name of your layer (not on the text) to open Blending options (Layer Style window) directly.

you have probably traced a triangle with a brush tool then tried to fill it black with paint bucket tool.
Brush tool is a anti-aliased tool so there are lighter pixels around to soften the edges of the brush stroke.
Even with tolerance cranked up to 255 (max level) Photoshop doesn't "catch" all the almost black pixels on the edges.
If you want to use the paint bucket tool Trace your trainagle with an aliased tool (as the pen).

Sorry not the pen tool I would mean Pencil tool (shift+B - in the same group than brush tool)

But you also can use polygonal lasso tool to trace a selection inside your black stroke then fill the selection with Paint bucket tool.
If you have to make geometric shapes the pen tool (P) could be a good alternative but if you're a beginner this tool is less intuitive and needs to be practice.

Maybe this video will clarify how anti-aliasing affects paint bucket tool and why you have a thin line.
To make your stroke looks soft the anti-aliasing makes pixels on the edge semi-transparent they look grey on a white background but in fact they are black with a transparency value. Paint bucket works only with solid pixels (without transparency value).
So the residual thin line represents pixels with transparency used by the anti-aliasing process.
Pencil tool is an aliased tool so he traces only solid colors (no transparency) so it works well with paint bucket but edges look harsh.

also when you're using the magic wand now you know what anti aliasing option is for 😉

but hey sometimes you want an anti aliased brush to separate the two objects like that, it can be a cool effect when more effects are added

Triangle on the left is traced on a transparent layer. Trinagle on the right is the same Triangle "fused" with a white background.
Magic wand doesn't catch the semi-transparent pixel of the anti-aliasing on the left (tolerance doesn't "recognize" transparency).
It catches all the inside on the right because there is no transparency (so tolerance works)... Give it a try. Bye!

What happened to Remove tool in PS 2025? Before that I would select an object or a 'flaw' that I want to get rid of (like circled in red, I just want to get rid of this uneven bit of colour), it now generates whole background as if I was using Generative AI tool.

You'll get transform handles that will affect the selection and not the content

There is no keyboard shortcuts but if you use it often, you can assign a new shortcut in the Keyboard short management panel

Yes, it depend if you have SHIFT set up the old way (SHIFT constrain proportions) or n the new WAY (No shift constrains proportions)

Note that in - say - Illustrator, it still works the old way by default. Do I find it silly? It's one of my pet-peeve 🙂
