You put the design, over the portion of the element that you're trying to "clip" to, right-click on the layer and choose 'Create Clipping Mask'. - This is whay I originally asked you if the jet was on a separate layer, with a transparent background. If its not, you might need to use Layer Masks to hide the portions of the design that go outside of the jet body.

You want to use that graphic and have it printed on a t-shirt? No. Its probably not large enough or good enough quality. You'd probably have to find a high rez version of it or recreate it as vector graphics.

Depending on the mockup, you probably have to open the smart object named "your design here" or "double click me", drop your design there, save and close

Hello, I have applied an underline to a word in a text using the regular text tools in PS. However, I find the line to be too far down, so I want to position it higher. How can I do that? I can only find tutorials on how to underline words (which is what I did), but no tutorials on how to change the position of the underline.

Hey guys, i got a question about artwork in Photoshop. Is there a way to fill an outline with the bucket tool or any other tool while the outline isnt perfectly completed? Its really annoying when you use the magic wand tool to select the space inside the outline or the bucket to just fill it and find out that there is a small hole in the linewwork somewhere and you will now have to find it

So i am just curious if there is a way for photoshop just to ignore the small holes in lineart?

Alright so if the line is fully completed without holes it can be filled easily

but if there is a tiny hole it cant be filled like that and u need to close all the holes, which can be incredibly tedious in a big artwork

I would probably do this with another tool/another method but... Check the "Tolerance" value (and Anti-alias setting) of the Fill Bucket.

Yeah usually to color in drawings i use the magic wand to select a space and then expand the selection to make a better looking fill. The last part you showed is really useful to know! But I was asking a different question. If there is a small hole in the circle the wand would not be able to select the space inside the circle either

this frequently happens while drawing that there is a tiny hole in the lineart that you just cant find and the wand wont work in that case as far as i know the functionality

Even if i crank the wand tolerance way up

like there's a couple pixels missing here so if i select with the wand it just selects the entire canvas and if i fill with bucket it fills the entire canvas

Correct. The Fill Bucket fills a closed area. That's how it was designed. And if the line isn't closed, the color will spill into other adjacent regions of the canvas. Thus, you would need to use a different method. I would try the Quick Selection Tool with "Sample All Layers" and "Enhance Edge" turned on.

I'm using menu commands here to show you what each operation is. Usually, I would do this with keyboard shortcuts to speed it up.

I have the following problem.

I very often write form letters in Word and would like to put my signature underneath. I have scanned my signature and then inserted it into the Word document. However, the signature looks smudged even though I scanned it in high resolution.

I now want to edit the signature in Photoshop so that the smudges are no longer there. It should be evenly dark. I then want to save the signature and anchor it in Word.

How can the editing be implemented in Photoshop?

I've been having this issue where when I try to apply or merge a layer with its adjustment layer, the opacity of the layer dissappears

And here I have merged it with the adjustment layer. Note the weird white outline as a result of the loss of transparency

The difference is slight, but you can notice it on the right hand, where the illusion of it dissappearing into the darkness is gone

So, does anyone know how to merge and adjustment layer with a normal layer and maintain the transparency data of the original layer?

you can edit the Action at the places where the notifications are. Actions are only aset of instructions that PS works through.

Also sometimes notifications are there for a reason. For example you might have a stop to let you input a specific number. These stops/messages are important, and the action wouldn't work if you dismiss them. so it really depends what are those messages

Yes, that what I was thinking. There is a demo somewhere about creating worn out patches in Substance designer, but that looks quite complex.

But the lazy sewing effect would be more realistic in Designer (or Blender) than on Photoshop. Although, nothing is impossible in photoshop, someone could have the real knack of creating custom thread brushes that could work.

I'm interested in finding ways to use, or create my own patterns/textures, with some nodes but easier than I do in Blender. Also there is a wealth of free customisable textures within the Substance ecosystem that it would be silly not to tweak the ones existing. I had some projects that I used to do in Dimension and Photoshop, where I could now use Blender just for the modelling, and sort out the rest with Stager/Dimension and the texture creation and the final compositing in Photoshop. I still find blender extremely counter-intuitive as an interface, and overly complicated, so even if I get better at it, I still prefer keeping as much an Adobe workflow as I can.

I work in a shop where they use adobe cs3,I have convinced the owner who is my uncle to swith to adobe 2024 but the problem is there was a plugin for cs3 called dce tools which he use for every image but it is a 32bit software and don't run on ps24 im new to photoshop my problem is i can't find any tutorials for cs3 and I can't make him switch unless I can mimic the effect of dce tools. I know how difficult it can be to make someone change workflows they've been using for years haha! You could make an action with camera raw filter or a camera raw preset so you get 1-2 clicks to get the result

all the rest is in sections below like details or denoise

you can make a set of changes and save it as a preset so next time you just enable the preset instead of moving all the sliders you need

Sorry for highjacking it, but if you happen to use brisge to sort through the photos, know that you can summon Adobe Camera Raw from there, so you don't even have to open Photoshop proper. If your photos are all fairly the same, you can create a preset and apply that preset to a bunch of images as selected in Bridge.

If that seem like an option, let me know and I'll explain further

So it will look like an "auto" function, except that you don't even have to open each photo one by one, but you can do in batches. Other uses of Bridge in that context are: Renaming, export at a specific size and file format, in specific folders in batch with the Export command, or all of the above in one step with the Workflow command

Once you have your presets done you can even apply them directly from the menu, without EVEN opening Adobe Camera raw (see "Night Daisy" here)

Bridge comes with Photoshop, IMHO it's absolutely indispensable when you work with a large amount of images (even if you don't 🙂 ) It's like windows explorer but with keywords metadata, developping module, virtual collection modules, and plenty of other stuff. You could rename your images and/or give them a keyword to find them later

Now, explaining everything Bridge does would be tedious but I think it could be a life-saver for you... Just saying!

I understand, that must be frustrating. One thing you can try before that is as gori_lla74 was saying, using the legacy "new document" interface as it may be a fix. Open up settings by pressing ctrl+k and checking the box. Then when you press file-new, a different menu should pop up which should allow you to create a document

Oh that makes sense. Photoshop is then likely unable to create a file due to your machine lacking space for scratch files, which are Photoshop's temporary files. You may need to select a different drive for Photoshop to use where it can store these temporary files in the Scratch Disks portion of the settings, and if you don't have another drive then free up some space

Find a paper texture, there are plenty on unsplash.com, then import it in the file you're working on. After positioning it how you want it, hide all other layers and save just the texture as a .psd. Once you've done that you can unhide all layers, place the texture on top, and set it to a blending mode which works with the project, likely overlay will work best. Then select your text, press distort-displace, and select the paper texture psd, and displace by a few pixels in each direction. This will apply a distortion to the text which follows the shape of the paper. Let me know how that works out for you

Basically how it is done is by selecting object and masking it.
Then invert this selection on under copy object, which should be a smart object.
Add multiply mode to smart object, add levels or curves, and make the whites really white.

But the design of that is really minimalistic so I have to add onto it because I dont want it to be that empty
I added the colorpalate that I would like to use

Another thing that I would love to improve would be the black and white
I think the contrast between pure black and white is sometimes a bit too harsh and if you know some replacements I'd love to know their codes. (eventhough this will be such a minor detail I doubt anybody else will notice

It allows for bleed and tickmarks which you'll need.

It allows you to make 'picture frames' that you can EASILY drag and drop pictures into later

You can use paragraph styles and character styles to make bulk text editing easier

You can create multiple 'master pages' which you can use as page templates.

You use data merges to import copy in from instead of manually copying and pasting it all in by hand

I tend to use this technique a lot, but it's difficult to keep the mesh aligned without blurring, see it's easier to fill, put the texture with distortion, working the shadows well will give you a great result

add a fabric texture, use liquify to cause distortions, work well with shadows and cuts

You could select the area, duplicate it as a layer and give the glow effect, then select it again and go to Select > Modify > expand. Input a value matching the glow area and duplicate whatever below it then merge it with your duplicated and glowed layer

Can't say anything without seeing the layers before and after you apply it. Additionally, are you using the effect as an adj layer or directly applying it?

If so try the adjustments icon at the buttom of the layers panel, there should be a non destructable version in that menu

As I told earlier, gradient map is using a 1D gradient as a map to give you a way to control pixel colors based on their darkness value, in order to get a gradient you bettr use the gradient tool on the left

you can get the same result by simply downscaling the image, the problem is, noise affects pixels, when there are more pixels there are more to interpolate
