Ok, to be fair, that was more complicated.

There was very little contrast between the front and back of the watch. - so it had to first be 'cut out'.

I'd have used the pen tool normally, but it can be tough to use.

For your issue above, you could have just used your MASK to paint a bit more black around the edges that you don't want to see

@dull hound You can create a rectangular selection with the Rectangle Marquee tool over the photo. Click the B/W cookie button (actually called the Add New Fill or Adjustment Layer button) at the bottom of the Layers panel > Solid Color. Pick the color you want and then drop the opacity.

@Wolfy I'm not getting that message so can you share what the suggested fixes are. And what kind of layer do you have selected?

@wolfy: I found a post with others having the same issue. Here is the recommended fix:

Ensure there are no stale preferences in your Photoshop. Go to the location of the preference folder mentioned below and rename it to backup.

@Wolfy Basically, the error message is an issue with corrupt preferences. That text I copied was from one of the Adobe staff members but it's a lot of steps. You're welcome to work through them, but a quicker way might be to download the Adobe CC Cleaner tool (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html) to completely remove Photoshop and then reinstall it. Whichever seems easier for you.

I also wouldn't recommend just using pictures from the internet. If the copyrights are not clarified here, things can end badly. Try to use Stock Images where you know its safe to use them or search for CC-lienced (Creative Commons) Images.

You could but it would be compositing ripped seams you found elsewhere onto the jacket, or create a brush that have that sort of effect and apply it to a path that follows the seam
You will probably never find the exact tutorial for that kind of seams, but this one will give you an idea how to do it

If I understand your question well, you need to open the smart object (double click on the thumbnail), change the text on the new document that's just opened, and then save this document to have the changes refelected in the main document

Unfortunately, there is no such option. Text can go either along the inside or outside of the path. You have to compensate for it by changing the path shape

ok, duplicate the image as another layer and try a curves/level adjustment on a top of it:

this will potentially give a lot more contrast

you can then better make your selection mask, delete the dodgy dark layer and apply it to your original shot

If you literally want the mask you could can hold ALT and click the mask layer. Then SELECT ALL, and copy and then hit escape to drop out of the mask window, then create a new layer and PASTE it in.

I think if you want it to look less pixelated and blurry looking, it needs to be less complicated.

Imagine what would happen if you tried to display the Mona Lisa on a gameboy screen?

There just aren't enough 'pixels' availble to show all the detail that you want.

this is what you're effectively trying to do by taking a large image of a pizza and then render it in an image which is only 100 'blocks/pixels' across.

Ctrl-click on the thumbnail for Layer 6. That should select all of the pixels. Then click the eye icon to hide that Layer. Then click on the Layer Mask thumbnail for Layer 5. Edit > Fill... Choose black. Then probably Ctrl i to invert the Layer Mask.

Helo Guys ,, I have created a color changing T shirt mockup using "gradiant Mapping" which is working fine then I created a smart object where I can put a caption over the T shirt but the problem is the caption color is getting changed based on the Color of the T shirt , dont know how to retain the color of the smart object ? i might be entirely wrong, but if you make a layer ontop of the caption and do CTRL+SHIFT+G it'll make a clipping mask on the caption layer and you should be able to adjust the colours on that layer, but I'm also insanely new to photoshop so I have no clue if that'll actually work @soft crag

You probably had it set to PATH 🙂 - next time go back, pick your rectangle tool but before you draw it, check the top left corner and change it from PATH to SHAPE.

The way I would do it is to choose a spray paint brush and make sure I use a stylus and tablet with the pressure on. That way, by applying a very soft pressure you can control the size of the line. Also, if you play with the flow you can have a droplet effect without a heavy paint load.

It's OK. - the CANVAS always has to remain rectangular so if you 'cut out a bit' that's fine - but the out edges would remain but be transparent.

The quickest way would be to overlay the reference image on a new layer above the purple crisper one, scale it up until it matches the crisper image and change the layer to Colour. I just did a quick example, but you could make it a lot more accurate with some more time.

Hello, I'm having an issue with the current GIF I'm making with the tool, I used PS to removed the white borders of the frames, however after doing so it seems the ears of the character are overlapping with each other. The process was as followed:

-Select Color range.
-Create a Mask so the background is removed.

You can check in the properties panel. After you've rotated by transform, it will display the angle in there

it also displays it while you're rotatingeither in the properties panel, or with a smart guide if you chose to have them on (in view>extra)

And if course you can directly type in the angle in either the properties panel, or the menu bar on top of the move tool

My example works for vector shapes, because I don't think you can with raster objects. However you can still use the ruler tool to compute a particular angle. Ratser shapes aren't "live" shapes. That means that as soon as you commit to the transform (hoit enter) the new angle is the new "0". If that makes sense.

If you worry about having twice the same software installed in your computer, then you have the right to have 2 copies of the same software PER ACCOUNT, provided that they are not working at the same time. But that concerns only accounts. So that would mean having two computers as well 🙂 I'm pretty sure it doesn't install Photoshop twice if you have two accounts on the same computer. It only charges the synced presets etc.

Smart objects allow for non destructive editing, where you do not permanently change the pixels. You can either rasterize that layer or you can double click the thumbnail to open at the actual smart object. But that's why you can't edit it.

Photoshop won't run on Linux (generally). At one point, you could use WINE and install a version of Ps 6.0 but that is a very old version of Photoshop.

Are you trying to remove the red writing? You can do this with generative fill if you leave the prompt blank. You're going to have to do it in sections, otherwise it will include her face and will try to change it. I suspect you're going have to follow up with some manual clean up as well.

Are you familiar with the Camera Raw filter within Photoshop? If not, it's an incredibly powerful tool created primarily for processing photos. It's also the same as the Develop module within Lightroom.

If you start doing a lot of photography you might want to check out Lightroom. It's a program that comes with the Creative Cloud. It has all the capabilities of the Camera Raw Filter and a bunch of tools designed to help catalog collections of photos.

The size increase of the people is fine but I think your positioning is a little off as you are very close to the edge and top of the photo. If you don't already know about the Rule of Thirds, this is where you create an aesthetically pleasing image by placing important things 1/3 or 2/3 horizontally and/or vertically within the composition.

Hello, I just noticed something and can’t figure out how to fix it. I have some overlay images in my Photoshop Creative Cloud library that I usually keep on hand and use in my images from time to time. I just noticed today that all of a sudden when I click and drag some of my overlays onto an image, it is placing on top of an image in a very small size. It’s never been like that before. I went to check in the library itself and the files there are the original size, I also right clicked on overlays in photoshop itself, went to “get info” and it is showing an original size there as well. But when I drag it, it’s being placed very small. Don’t know what to do. Can anyone help? Thanks!

The size of the image I’m dragging into never mattered, it could be anything, if the size of the overlay was bigger, that’s how it would be placed and I would resize it, it never made a difference what I was placing it onto. The main problem now is that it’s losing its size when I drag it. Lucky I found the way around it, but still, it looks like it’s a bug, so maybe it can be fixed

you have to right click the layer style and select "create layer". this will separate the layer style to a new layer and you'll be able to mask it as you wish

Basically, you can do whatever you want, but hoping to literally change the font itself, so it remains truly editable isn't really a viable option.

You can set that FIRST before turning to outlines.

then simply delete the 'dot'

...but as soon as you 'convert to outlines' it's no longer a FONT and instead just random shapes. - Hence you loose the ability to use kerning settings on it'

Hello! I hope this is the right place to ask this.
I am trying to create an overlay for a friend of mine (streamer) and they really like the color pink, I've done up a rough idea for the layout, and i want to try to turn the green and blue "crystals" to maintain the dark grey while changing specifically the "green" and "blue" parts to purple/pink.
In the 2nd image i am using "color" blending mode but it seems to not keep the dark grey at all but instead replaces it entirely, I've tried turning down opacity however that did not work either.
I am trying to do this as the bar fills up in real time only the specific colors would be effected, is it possible with a specific layer type? or is this something that is impossible.

If you apply a pattern as a layer style you can copy the layer style from one layer and paste it to as many as you want all at once. if you are overlaying the pattern via clipping mask, you can group multiple layers and apply the clipping mask to the group/folder.
