If you are posting designs related to the current DCC, you can choose to post them here to receive comments and critiques.
@eternal mica I need a little feedback on this one. Im kinda on the fence because I think it may be too much
Over time Ive learned to wait it out and see the new tutorial, rather than guessing what the leaders have in mind. Im not sure I get the message in the top text fill. In general, its a nice effort. There are a few critiques Id raise, but again, not knowing what to look for, Im a bit reluctant give my 2¢.
I can post somewhere else? Like on behance where I get the files?
Do I get something reward if I post the work?
I would change the icon of facebook, to one same as twitter and instagram, with same color to be more aesthetic.
i actually way doing that
now
@true remnant The reward is the skill you learn and the approval of your peers.
You can create a Behance post anytime you'd like. We suggest you create a single Behance portfolio to post all your works from this series of 9 challenges. We also suggest that you work on building your portfolio during the two weeks, but that you not publish it until the entire challenge is completed and you uploaded all your designs.
Better late than never, eh? Here's my Day 1. Great stuff @young karma , @gilded flame and @tropic garnet -- like way cool
Welcome Day! 2022! I was inspired to do a Light Blub. To me this angle (hanging from the heavens) made me feel connected somehow. The image is mine from the Monterey Bay. Thank you all for this opportunity!
What happened to VooDoo Val today? How do we see today's lesson/challenge?
🙏 that all is well for VooDooVal
I went to check, but yes something's off. @uncut ginkgo any info as the challenge was posted for today?
Sam Peterson said that it will air later this week
ah ok, thanks @quiet ridge hope all is well indeed

@paper crag Welcome to our Ps DCC Discord chat. Its great to have you join in on the party. If you need help or have any questions, just give a shout. We're here to help. Your first post is very well done. The image you selected is bright and cheery. The font adds to that vibe. Using the color from the red dress throughout the design gives a strong cohesive look. The spacing of text body could be moved down a bit to be centered. One suggestion Id make is to use a more legible block lettered font for the social media icons. I would want the reader to see each letter clearly so they could contact me. Good effort by you.
@lusty shell Lovely social bio design. The soft pastel color palette you used works very nicely off of the model in the image. Your text fill picks up nicely the color of the guitar and the hair. One tweak Id suggest is to move away from the wavy text for the full body of text. It makes the text more difficult to read without adding to the design message. In fact, I think if you used the wavy text on the text title and not on the body it would enhance the sense of motion in the design. The gradient on the bottom looks great. (BTW, GREETINGS is correct spelling.)
Here's my go at the "Welcome - Post(er) a day" and possibly the future Behance cover for the current theme... I downloaded a color-theme on Adobe Color but ended up only using 4 of 5 colors. The words at the bottom are important to me even if I don't think on them as a prayer but merely as wise living rules. The background pattern are made by applying a particle brush with three of the 5 colors and putting each on 30% opacity.
@plain sable Wow, this design is soooooo you!!! The soft pastel palette, the faint nature add ins, the camera lens, the beautiful landscape photo inset. It really tells the story of who you are. Wonderful work. Your masking of the Y is a cool personal touch. I assume you omitted the social media icons intentionally. I have two little typos for you to consider. "creating something new.... " and " either from the sketch book or images," needs a comma afterwards to help the sentence read properly. Well done.
Thanks @tacit mortar, I'll correct the typos and the missing social was an oversite...
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @tacit mortar
@daring tendon Very nice initial effort. The design has a nice cool professional look. The cohesive color palette between top and bottom looks great. A few tweaks I'd suggest. Because of the importance of the body text, I might go with a slightly bolder font or a darker text fill to enhance legibility. Im not sure I'd go with italics. I would make all three social media icons consistent. If this is something you want to use in real life, if you DM me, I will help you with the wording of your message.
Draft Behance Cover for this month's lessons
@digital thicket Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. We're happy youre going to join our party. If you have any questions, or need help with anything, just give a shout. Very nice effort on challenge # 1. The colors youve selected go well together. I would make a couple of tweaks to your design. I would not leave a white border along the top edge. If you want to add a color rectangle layer as a BG behind the picture to frame it, it might generate a better look. Secondly, I would align the main text so the green text runs along the bottom edge of the picture, and the top of the red text runs just underneath the bottom of the picture.
@vague shuttle Youre not late at all. This series runs until the end of January. I assume you meant this is your Behance Cover from the Welcome stream. I love the color palette. Its so lively. The shapes you added have a solid sense of motion. The layer styles you added look good all around. Nice job.
#1
@tropic knoll Very creative approach to the Welcome Behance cover. I never thought about it. Does Behance display a GIF in a cover? Beautiful BG photo. You did an awesome job fitting the text into the light bulb. Your different fonts look solid. I would make one tweak to your design. In the off position, I would add contrast/opacity to the text to make it more legible. Its a little too difficult to read.
I guess there is no challenge 2 video today? The Behance page says PS DCC will not air today and We will be back at 9:30AM PT. Tricky though it doesn't give a date.
@halcyon current "The Serenity Prayer" has meaning to people around the world, from all walks of life. The cover design has a beautiful vibe to it. The color palette is soft and easy. I like the fonts youve chosen for your main texts. The bolding out of the words in the serenity prayer look good. The brush stroke BG looks beautiful. I would suggest you not go with so many different fonts for the rest of the text. Pick one and ride it throughout.
@frail ice Beautiful cover design. I love how you picked up the image color palette in your banner text. Your positioning of the text works, though I cant say why I like it (🤷🏻♂️ ). I would make one tweak to it. I would scale up and kern out the date to justify it with the other two lines. On your signature lines, I'd try a 1 or 2 pixel stroke in the teal color to give the signature some contrast and legibility against the dark BG, and to add cohesion to that part of the design.
@eternal mica I wondered if the text was right. Thank you. I'll get right on it! And thank you for your words of encouragement!

@ember wave Very exciting Social bio design. Great fashion look to it. Very eye catching design. I love the BG you created for the top of the design. Main body text is crisp clear and legible. I might like to see an alternate version to see which pops more. How about switching the text fill between the "Hello" and the "Lili K". What do you think?
CHALLENGE: Create an attractive social bio or introduction graphic using shapes and alignment tools.
I was feeling more feisty than social....
@naive mulch Hello George. Welcome to our Ps DCC Discord chat. Its great to have you aboard. If you need help or have any questions, give a shout. We're here to help. Good effort on the Social bio challenge. You did a nice job laying out the design. The gold color works well with the blue of your suit, and presents the text clearly and crisply. A few points Id think about: I think you can make a better choice for the grey text and the grey gradient. Maybe try a little lighter blue, somewhere between the BG and the dark navy of the suit, or maybe a darker shade of the gold. Next, I would align the text so that the top line sits right on the edge of the picture, and the top of the next line aligns below the picture. Last, Im not sure, but it looks like you scaled your picture to fit the space and you didnt maintain the proportions. If you need help with that, let me know, and I'll walk you through it.
@arctic rover I have to stop chuckling before I complete typing!!!! Most definitely more Feisty!!! I LOVE IT!!!! 💯 😂 💯 😂
Thanks for feedback, I really need help I scaled my picture to fit the space and I think I didn't maintain the proportions. Bu When I scaled the picture I hold shift thinking that It will maintain the proportion!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
Did you first convert the picture to a smart object? Did you use Ctrl T(ransform) to scale it? Did you hold Shift while dragging one of the corners? If the scaled up picture doesnt have the same proportions as the space youre trying to fill, consider using a filler layer behind the picture.
I first convert the picture to make a clipping-mask , Yes I use Ctrl T(ransform) and scale it? I hold Shift while dragging one of the corners. I'll consider using a filler layer behind the picture.
Ok @eternal mica I will fix that
trying to find a western font is hard so I hope this looks better I moved the images around because I don't know how to retouch a photo yet. I found that this teal blue is the color for this year so I tried to add a little color with the color scheme you guys gave us. I have barbed wire on my arm as a tattoo so I figure I should add it with my brand.
Day1 challenge. I didn't know what an influencer was. I'm such a booner so the first one is for an author and a series of her books. When I finally learned what an influencer was from my grand daughter. I created a post for her youtube channel. She helped me with the colors. Font choices have to stay. But everything else can be tweaked.

Challenge 1
My submission
First time participating in Photoshop challenges and making something that looks good. Felt so satisfied after completing this!
Hi everyone! My name is Zoe and I am a graphic designer based out of Arizona. This is my first photoshop challenge 😄
Thank you @eternal mica for your feedback! I (kind of) knew that I had too many fonts in the bottom section but there are so many fonts to choose among that I couldn't decide which one to pick. But I had to try, not to please you but to practice the skill to choose the "right" font... I hope it looks better now.

Heya, this is my my attempt for Challenge #1. I did it for me, beginning to think how I could present my future freelance activity (when ready). It's a kind of psychotherapy hehe to give an image of what we truly are ... I don't think it's really eye catching but it's me. For those Challenges I want to do a journey in Kyle's brushes.
I love this! The colors choices are so elegant and the added illustrations really bring the whole thing together. I love how you tied the text at the top into the body copy too. 🙂
Thanks @tropic garnet - I'm glad you like it 😊

Super tweak by you.
lol, Not bad for something not eye catching! I disagree with you! It looks neat and great! I love how you used shapes for borders, bullets and adding interest on your background image (waves, sun, birds, leaves...). I love how you used contrast for your title too... Great job!👍

@queen geode Nice work on both of the Social bio posts, eventhough you dont know what an infuencer is. I especially like the one for your grandaughter. The color palette is solid. The shapes you created add good interest. Theres good cohesion to the design. You might consider adding in social media links. Good work.
@eternal mica thank you. I will do that.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@eternal mica is there a way to create live links on these so that if you click on them it takes you right to their site?
@paper shadow Interesting Social Bio design. The layout looks solid. You selected interesting fonts, especially for the red text. If I had to critique one thing, I think you could have a more cohesive color palette. I think Id switch the gold color fill for something in greyscale or red to stick with the other colors in the design.
Im sure there is, but thats above my pay grade to know how to do!!! Just Googling I came up with this: How do I add a hyperlink to a JPEG?
Go to the block you wish to edit. Click on the EDIT icon .
Click on the image you want to make into a linked image.
In the toolbar, click the URL LINK icon .
Provide the Web site address (URL) you want the image to link to when a recipient clicks on it. Click on UPDATE.
Click SAVE.
@quiet ridge I'll wait to watch whatever was supposed to be yesterday's stream to let you know what I think about your addition.
@eternal mica Thank you. I didn't even know how to ask google. I was hitting all over the ballpark on that one.

Its really not complicated. And I'll bet your granddaughter can teach you how to do it!!!
@stone steppe Welcome to our party. We're happy youre going to join in. Many of us are photographers at heart. But you'll soon learn, as I did when I joined, Ps is so much more than just a photo editing tool. Your first post is wonderful. I love the color palette and the cohesive feel to the design. Your font selection are interesting. I especially like the gradient you created. i would suggest you look at the spacing of the icons along the bottom and space them more evenly.
@oak depot I love the creativity of this design. The concept is great as is the execution. The layout is well done. The color palette is spot on. You might think about a text fill for the white text so the thin lines in the letters and the comma dont get lost. If I had one tiny tweak, I'd be curious to see how the design would look if you used a curves adjustment layer on the drawing to add more highlights and contrast to the cartoon character. Great job by you.
@tropic garnet Your cover design is much more in the style of @tropic garnet that we've come to know and love!!! Bold. Bright. Electric. The fonts are so interesting. One little tweak. The blue text fill in the lower right is getting lost in the dark blue BG of that area.
@queen geode Your Caesar design is really cool. Not a social bio, but a really well done design. Duplicating the image as an inset and a BG is a neat effect.
@eternal mica Thank you.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@naive mulch Your repost of the design came out awesome. The photo works way better now. Good work by you.
@marble umbra Cheers back to you!!! Really happy vibe with this design. I like the text fill you used. It gives a good cohesive feel, picking up on the BG from the photo and bringing it into the lower half. I might suggest that a couple of the shapes you created pick up on the earth tone to add even more cohesion to the design.
Thanks Ted be and I like your idea of the earth tone in the Celtic knots
@naive helm Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. Great to have you join the group. If you have any questions, or need help figuring things out, give a shout. We're here to help. Your first post is lovely. Very well done. I think the thin pink border across the top is a subtle but well done touch. It adds cohesion and ties the two parts of the design together. Using the beige tone of the photo as your text fill also adds cohesion. You spaced the icons out nicely. All in all, good job by you.
@marble umbra Is that what the designs are called??? TIL .....Thank you. (For those of you who aren't crossword puzzle buffs, TIL stands for "Today I Learned", and is used when a new fact is learned by filling in a word.)
Thanks @eternal mica ! There is so much in PS that I don’t know about or how to use, and I’ve been using it (at its minimum) for a while now. Im excited to get more familiar through these challenges.

@gaunt veldt Hey, Jesse, welcome back. Great to see you again. Interesting design layout for the Social Bio. I think theres something behind VDV having the design in a horizontal layout. Maybe so that it exhibits better on phone screens. Im not sure. Anyway. Your color palette is cool and inviting. The fonts you selected are interesting. The icons you used for the links are cool. My only tweak is I cant get the vibe on how you handled the facebook text. Why not try leaving out the beginning of the url. And Id drop the gradient. What do you think?
I started from the exact same spot two years ago. The DCC and this chat have taught me more than I ever could have imagined. Now, Im an absolute Ps fanatic. Im sure youre going to learn so much, while at the same time having tons of fun. As I said, welcome.
@uneven quarry Welcome to our Ps DCC Discord group. Youre going to love this place. Its right up your alley!!! Your initial post is well done. The photo is stunning. Youre good!!!The design is crisp clean direct. I would suggest a few tweaks. (These are all just my suggestions. This is your design. You decide what works for you.) The inset of you might look better scaled up to the size of the text lines on the left. It will create some balance, as well show you off more. The canvas can carry the larger inset. I would center the text in the space between the photo and the blue line. Lastly, the text at the bottom is a key part of the message. Scale it up. Make it a lot more legible. Im looking forward to seeing your future posts.
@dawn trellis Welcome to our Ps DCC Discord chat. Its great you decided to join our group. If you have any questions, give a shout. We're here to help. A few folks have tried to anticipate what VDV has in store for us with this challenge. Ive held off commenting on any of the designs until I see what she has in mind. I'll get back to you on this.
Hi Ted! Thank you for pointing out some important parts. Well, yes, there is a lot of gap in between the photo and the blue line. This is my first time. So, it has some mistakes and thank you so much for your advice and motivation. I'll sure do better in my future works and improve myself ✌🏻

@eternal mica On my bio creation: For the bottom half, keep the abstract, splotchy tree thing, or go with an actual tree/landscape photo or vector graphic at like %50 opacity? I want it to look connected, but not quite 'orderly'.
There are no "mistakes" in this chat. We all do our best on each design. And, hopefully, we're each open to the help another pair of eyes (or a lot of pairs of eyes) adds to the creative process.
Thanks! So happy to see a community with people who help each others ☺️
I have found this space to be the most vibrant, exciting, friendly, creative, willing, supportive space you could imagine. If you indulge yourself in it, Im sure you'll find it to be the same for you.
Yeah, sure!
I apologize for not commenting earlier on your design. When Sam critiques something before I do, he is so expert at what he does, I normally dont add on. I'll be happy to take a look at your design and give you my thoughts. Give me a few minutes.
@winged jungle Welcome to our Ps DCC Discord group. Great that youre joining in. Youre gonna love it here. Super first post. I really like the design. The color palette is spot on. It picks up all the colors from the photo and, by using them in the shapes on the bottom half, creates a crisp clean cohesive vibe. I like the way you organized all the icons. I might make one small tweak. I like the stroke you added to the "a" to give it a bit of contrast off the brown circle. How about repeating a similar effect around the "Hello" to give contrast against the white of the clothes?
Looks great. So many times, Less Is More.
@vagrant rapids Stunning design!!! Very well done. The fonts you selected so fit the message and the design. The soft gauzy vibe fits the message. The offset of the script and starburst is a great touch. The border adds a lot of interest. 💯
Nothing to do with Ps DCC, if you'll allow me to comment on your text, (Of course, if this is going to be in French, ignore what I suggest.) I suggest you delete "do" "to". I would reposition "highlight" so it is not hyphenated. Im not sure the last sentence makes sense. If you'd like to DM me, we can discuss it.
@signal grove First, I think @bleak fossil hit the nail right on the head, as he always does, Your design is bold and has many elements. Therefore, when it comes to the text, less is more. You dont need many different fonts or fill colors. Your second version is a good tweak from the first. To your basic question, I like the abstract tree. But what I would suggest is feel free to post different versions and ask the community for a reaction. If you'd like to try a real tree, go for it. I always joke with the folks in the chat, "The second post is free. Adobe only starts charging with the third post."
As long as Im on it, i might suggest you give the "water" phrase a solid fill to create cohesion with the "brian" text. I might reposition it a bit lower in the design, and scale up the adobe text lines. In the end, its your design; its your decisions.
Thanks a lot for your feedback @eternal mica!
Concerning the text I appreciate your advices a lot - I'll do the corrections and will DM you. Thanks a lot 😊

Daily Challenge #3-Fantasy Landscape
Challenge #3 - Fantasy Landscape - I'm using my own sky for the sky replacement part. I skipped the Landscape mixer part as I couldn't get a result that I liked. I used some other filters to create a dreamy effect instead.
I just love taking my own pics so while I was out feeding my cows I took this of the sun dogs as we call them. I did 3 different neutral layers to show the difference in the adjustments.

Challenge 1 01/04/2021 : Social Bio.

Combined my Ps DCC with my #Vss365 writing challenge and wound up in a strange place. My #memories merge
Sharp like a hot sea breeze
Mingle with the mountains
Deep inside the city
Fever dreams are all that are left
This is my attempt for Challenge #3 Fantasy Landscape. I did a sky replacement (chose a balanced sky to keep a certain symmetry, like the ground) but I couldn't be satisfied of the Landscape mixer result, I didn't use it. I also keep the original dimensions, because the composition is so good like that. I fixed the colors harmony with hue/saturation filters keeping the project color palette. I added a light vignette effect in Camera raw. Then I added (in overlay) a painted layer with Gesso Thick - as Kyle showed us in an editorial Masterclass : the man with the carrot eye).
original file
@halcyon current I can feel the dreamy effect, absolutely! Can't wait for summer now 😃 . How did you do the movement of "I'm having" - a warp?
Blew right past dreamy and on into earthy with this flour sack.
With a second neural filter layered on top.
Image with sky replacement.
Original image.
my custom sky
I wanted to fill the white space above the meadow in the original image with sky, but sky replacement would only replace where there was actually sky. Makes sense. How might I get around this?
Also, a problem I ran into with the landscape mixer, on this particular image, was that it turned the clouds into mountains. I'm guessing it is because they are so similar visually in this image. It did make for some cool images, but not what I wanted.
How would you go about removing the taller trees from my custom sky image? They are the "dreamy" part of my final image. Ents on the move.
@hushed spade, maybe you can open the sky replacement file to play with the masks - the top of your masks (both of them) should be black, you just have to paint those in white. And if you want to remove the taller trees of your image I maybe would try the stamp tool.
@hushed spade this could interest you - in this stream, Sam explains the Ps basics and there are lots of tips to remove objects very decently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yuMMYw_7JA&list=PLu0ytq2MW4tIG2tmMEljnLmuSQH0fFx8X&index=11

@hollow yarrow Hello Franck. I hope you had an awesome vacation. Im so happy to see you back in the groove to start 2022. Two really top notch designs right out of the gate. The first design has such a fun vibe to it. Didnt you use this little guy in a design last year? The subtle way you use the color palette of the photo to give the design a solid cohesive feel is really awesome. The handwriting fonts are very cool. Your compositing and shadows are great. The second image is also well done. I would ask one question about it. You have a soft cast shadow at the foot on the ground. Wouldnt it make sense to have some shadow from the rest of the body somewhere on the ground or the BG?
Hello love the piece and had to ask do you live at the jersey shore?
@night maple Beautiful design. The color palette is solid throughout. The photo is great. I like the fonts you chose. Adding the stroke around the inset gives very real motion and cohesion to the design. Nice job on the gradient and the positioning of the icon. One tiny tweak, you might want to adjust the first line of text over to the left to align with the other two lines.
Thank you. Yes. The photo is the beach at the end of my street.

@radiant sparrow Wow you posted that almost before the stream was done. Very nice work. The transparent text really works here. Is that your own sky or one of Adobe's?
Wow, cool. Im right near Asbury Park.
Challenge #2 -Creating a Social Media Post- I did something more like a promotion post or for a story on a social media app. Open to comments and feedback.
@blissful wolf Lovely Social Bio. The color palette sends a clear concise consistent message with the text. The positioning of the icons is right on. I would suggest one tweak. Id move the "nature" to align with the end of the first line of text to tie it visually to the "I Love" . Good job by you.
Thank you! I will make that change!

@digital pike Is that a phrase that means something or did you just make it up? Nice job with the text and the moon. I gotta admit, I dont usually associate the moon with fun at the beach, but what the heck, its Ps!!!
@dusky wave This looks like fun. Id love to see the asset image you used so your work could be appreciated more. Adding transparency to the text is a good idea.
@eternal mica I’m just having fun. 😀
Perfect. Bring it on!!!
"Hi. I'm @digital pike . I like moonlit walks on the beach. Let's play among the stars." 😏
@sly sparrow I see youre committed to using that pattern fill text in a design!!! Good for you!! Good work on the sky replacement. I like the bold crisp font you selected. Adding the stroke makes it work.
@wide magnet Very nice landscape mixer and sky replacement. The design has a warm autumnal vibe to it. Your font choice is interesting.
Good work.
@halcyon current Very nice work compositing this. I might make two suggestions. I think the text overlay in the upper right might look better if that text was separated. And I'd take the drink and give it a little tilt to make it look less static. After all, its not standing on the water. It might even look neat overlaying part of the N in Sun.
@toxic patio Great photo, and beautiful design. I really like the powerful feel of the bottom design. Neural filters can be an awesome tool. The filter emphasized the blues in the image to give a beautiful stark winter vibe. (BTW, there's no T in "neural" filters)
Challenge #3 I have seen so many nice images here that, to be honest, I feel a little afraid to upload my images for the challenges. I constantly repeat to myself: you are learning, you are learning, you never used Photoshop for this purpose. I think is working because I'm uploading the images 🤪
Hope this one accomplishes the purpose.
Fantasy Landscape
todays challenge
Challenge 3 Dreamy Fantasy Landscape . My sky replacement and landscape are both a little more subtle.
i plan on keeping my word and using the pattern for all the rest of the projects. I was a little worried about this one though. the sky replacement made it work. I am still using the same font, Copperplate, as my signature font as well.
I don't see that you've done anything with the existing composition elements - did you start from scratch or throw them out entirely? For your colors, I highly recommend coming up with a focused palette and doing a little studying about how to use type to create different voices. The colors are blaring, busy and seemingly random; an easy trick is to try doing it in B+W with only one other color, and then add more from there.
@frail ice Super job by you. Showing the original asset is always such a big help to understand how you manipulated the image. Your Landscape Mixer effect is great, as is the composite. The cool blue BG is a nice addition to emphasize the design color palette.
@queen aspen Awesome design. Thank you for showing your process in the thumbnail images. The original image is beautiful. It would seem difficult to enhance it. But you did a wonderful job on the sky replacement, landscape mixer, and beautiful text effects to create a special presentation. Very well done.💯

@verbal crater Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. Its great that youve decided to participate. If you have any questions, give a shout. Nice effort on your social bio design. I like the layout design you created. I think I might scale back the gradient a bit so your computer name is more legible. And on what media is that your handle?
@halcyon current We're going to have to take away your computer privileges!!! Nice B&W interpretation.
@quiet ridge I like the top design. I think the tag line text is a lot more legible. And I like the text fill and layer styles better. Good work on both.
@rocky kite Nice effort for that challenge. I think you can add some shadows and depth to the characters to give the image more realism. When you add the text, it is getting swallowed up by the white in the BG. You may want to add a layer style to give the text some more contrast.
@eternal mica Thank you

@shy thistle Hello Matej. Welcome to the party. This is a great place to learn Ps skills quickly, and in a fun fashion. Interesting interpretation for the Social Bio challenge. I like your clean crisp neat color palette, I like the double layer heading text, I like the pattern you used to create motion in the design. Good start. Keep it up.
@gilded flame Good work on the sky replacement. The font is interesting. Good idea to have the text fill pick up on the magenta from the sky. Good work by you.
@naive mulch Good job on the sky replacement. It looks cool that land mass picked up the magenta tone from the new sky. It looks like you had fun manipulating the secondary text. Good for you.
@quiet ridge Now that I see your tweaks, I like #2 better!!!😜 🤣 😜 🤣
@simple idol Thank you for showing the steps in the transition. The final image looks so serene with the softer sky and the autumn coloration. Using the really bright text fill is a good way to add pop to the design. Good work by you.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @simple idol
@muted quail Very nice job. Did the sky image already have the rainbow in it? The sky replacement gives the image a nice soft low light feel. I like the font you chose. It fits the design nicely. Good work.
@lusty relic Lovely work on the sky replacement. The change in coloration you created on the rocks is solid. The layer styles you added to the text add good interest. Good job.
I appreciate the feedback! 👍
@dull lava I love your interpretation of the social bio challenge. Very unique presentation. I really like how you presented the text along the bottom. I would make one suggestion. The script text is difficult to read. Something one should pay attention when using script font is how the letters interconnect. E.G. check out the letters in Taylor and you'll see the letters really dont merge very well. You may b e able to solve this by adjusting the kerning. Also in your second name, it may be me, but I cannot tell what the middle letters are. U or W? B or L? Just something to think about. But that doesnt diminish by much the overall quality of the design.
@arctic rover Very nice presentation. I think you can add realism by playing with the depth of field in the image. Use Tilt Blur to add some depth to the "close up" and "distant" parts of the image.
@vagrant rapids Solid effort. The asset image is very powerful to start, and you made it even more powerful. The color palette you created is beautiful. Great job by you.
@hushed spade So interesting to see the evolution of your design. The final design definitely has the country store vibe to it. The color palette create dby the neural filters fits he theme nicely. The handled the text also looks realistic. Solid effort by you.
@eternal mica 😎
DCC 3. These photos were taken by me with trusty Nikon. I hope you feel the composited image works. Inspire tranquil moments. Thank you one and all for this opportunity!

Day 3 Challenge Fantasy Landscape. I am attempting to make my post look like a card in this post. I replaced the sky then used neural filter to copy a style to make this look like a piece of art. The concept is to have the balloon floating in a fantasy vacation landscape in a card.
Hey guys
Hi Everyone! DCC PS Day 3. 📸 Marcelo Quinan, Unsplash.
Challenge 3
Challenge 3
@autumn pasture I'm not sure if that's a Mr. Freeze quote, but that's definitely the voice I'm reading it in, hah. This came out nicely! The colorful trees make for an interesting contrast against the snowy look of the rest of the image. I wonder if a subtle drop shadow under the text would be nice to give it an extra touch of contrast against the light background. Nice work!
@naive helm Loving these color palettes! Really nice contrast between the two designs. Really cool landscape in the second design with the lightning and all the wild colors. I'd be curious to see if the text works better with another color that's more prominent in the landscape, such as a bright pinkish/red or blueish/green. But I think it's working pretty well regardless. Nice job on these!
@neon kayak Nice job Jess! I like the color contrast between the landscape and the sky in this design. Nice work with the sky replacement, it gives the image a bit more of a calm, subdued feeling which is interesting. I like that you included the original so we can really see the difference. Looks good!
@queen geode So cool! I really like the kind of old painting look and texture of the background image. The text incorporating those same colors works nicely. The only subtle suggestion I would have is it could be nice to add the same texture onto the hot air balloon to make them fit more together, and maybe even lower the contrast of the bright tones because the hot air balloon has a strong light on it, where as the background image is more diffused lighting. Just some thoughts. Nicely done!
@tropic knoll Looking good! I really like the way you broke down all the different images you used. Everything works together and and looks seamless. I kind of live it both with and without the dissolve for different reasons. Kind of more of a painterly/old film look which has a neat feel to it. Well done 👍
@compact pecan Very nice colors, I really love the contrast the person and text has against the more subdued background. I'm not sure what raw photos you used but the landscape has a great look to it. Nice job with the masking around the hands as well!
@umbral perch Great landscape! I really like the colors. I like how you repeated the colors from the landscape into the text, but since they're both a similar color and value it's a bit tough to read. Perhaps color picking the blue from the mountains would be a great way to balance the blue in the design by bringing it in the top while also giving the text more readability. Just a thought. Looks good!
@sand sand These designs came out really well! I love the boldness of the text and the way you made it consistent with the color palette of the image. The bold text gives it a nice, clear read as well. I wonder if a subtle drop shadow on the white "Fun in the sun" text might even further separate it from the bright background and give it an extra pop of contrast. Really liking the variety and contrast between these two designs.
@obsidian sequoia These colors work so well together, really nice work! The yellow/orange makes for a great contrast against the blue water, and the stroke gives it a fun feel while adding some more contrast. The contrasting styling on the "challenge #3" text is a really nice touch.
@verbal crater I'm glad to hear that! That's a good attitude. Stepping out of your comfort zones is always a good thing because it means you're learning, growing, and progressing forward. I really like the text in this "your dreams" design! The faded transparent effect is really nice, and the white stroke gives it a nice bold contrast against the background. Very nice!
@hushed spade This is such a cool effect! I love the colors, and how it's so vibrant but also kind of a faded and aged looking design. The texture certainly adds a lot of character to it as well. Neat to see the breakdown of this image!
@vagrant rapids Very cool to hear your process for this image. Nice work with the sky replacement, it's looking good. The textured gesso effect is a really interesting touch which gives this an interesting painterly look, I like all the alternating lines in the sky. Nice job!
@arctic rover Cool take on this design with the combined challenges! The masking behind the hill has a nice sense of depth to it and the background sky colors have a really interesting feel to them. It could be nice to try and get a more natural edge on the hill using something like the Refine Edge Brush tool, or even finding stock photos of grass or palms on a white background to easily mask out and overlay/blend into the hill for a more natural feel. Just a thought of course. Nice work!
@dull lava Really interesting color burst effect! The lines add a really interesting sense of dimension. The bold TG text also reads nicely against all that background texture. This is a minor nitpick, but I feel like the whole design at the top could be brought down a few notches for a more balanced look. Though that's really just personal preference. 👍
@lusty relic Loving these colors! The text wave makes for a cool effect too. It could be nice to give the text a slight color gradient to match the look and feel of the vibrant background. Nice job!
@muted quail I like the styling and layout of the text here, it balanced nicely with the rainbow. I also really like the bold, clear contrast of the text against this background image. Nicely done!

@quiet fern We discussed it in the stream all week. We mentioned it here in the chat. Sometimes we just need to go with flow. VDV said she is hoping to post it over the weekend.
Can someone tell me what does it mean "chunky color"?
todays Challenge
Challenge3
Goofing off during work, on an iPad so I do not have some of what is being used, but will do the sky replacement next. This is a blending of many layers of images and textures from adobe stock, I think it is fun.
Finally I was able to start this challenge. but here is numero uno 🙂
Challenge 4 - Chunky. The stock image is from the Smithsonian Open Access.
Challenge #4 - Chunky Colors in two color variations. The words are a quote by Eudora Welty who (according to Wikipedia) was a writer and photographer from Jackson, Mississippi. Born in 1909 (on the same day as my father was born 30 years later) and dead in 2001.
What she was doing was creating a thick stroke around the text. She mentioned that you may need to adjust the stroke a few times bc she was trying to avoid having the shapes of the letters be visible on the stroke which would make visible shapes with the horizontal lines. Once she had the text the way she wanted, she just made the text into a selection (alt-click) and used that selection to create the mask on the vertical lines. Then after all that, she just turned-off the stroke. Does that make sense? I think she went pretty quickly through the workflow of choosing the selection so I think a lot of folks might have gotten tripped-up at that part
Same issue here... could not figure it out...
Does my reply to Meade help? Let me know if you’re still stuck
Im stuck on making the text into a selection
OK, once you have the text the way you want it, with the stroke, she converted it to a smart object (so it was a single layer), then click ctrl(windows) or cmd (Mac) on the smart object, and that turns it into a selection.
Hello friends. Here is Day 4. I will make color variations at another time. Thanks
Once you have the selection, go back to the layer group with the horizontal lines and click the mask icon - you’ll need to invert the mask, though, to get the right effect. Then, go back to your smart object, right click and convert it back to layers - once it’s back into layers, you can turn off the stroke you made and that gives the whole effect where there is invisible space between the text and the horizontal lines.
@quiet fern Some of us have been doing the DCC's for a long time so we are taking a stab at what Val was gonna do for challenge #2 and probably will update what we've been playing with once the vid is published. 🙂
I love it @simple idol! The contrast of the the orange text is really nice. But i especially like the water ripples - subtle, but it really gives the context of a sailboat that is actually in the water.

yes.. sometimes they zip through it...I have been doing the AI Challenges as well
I find Ai a lot more difficult than PS, but I started in PS and just recently tried Ai. Frustrating sometimes
I just started in AI too..
"Chunky" means in large pieces.
The designs feature large "chunks" of a single color
It's also referring to the font (a very chunky-looking font, as the thick parts are quite thick).
In hair color, these are referred to as "chunky" highlights.
This would be the "normal" highlights.
I hope that helps.
They're for completely different uses, so it can be like that at the beginning.
Thanks, Hugh! That does make sense.

If you are wondering how she was able to make a selection out of it she alt double clicked the text T then she was able to go to the lines layer and create a mask then invert it so it becomes a mask. I hope that helps.
Thanks!

@hushed spade my pleasure I hope my explanation was helpful.
I've never though of type face weights in hair color highlight equivalents before. 😉
I really like how the colours works together in this one. The quote and the image in behind are perfect. Well done!
Great idea to make it to a project cover! If there is anything I would suggest to lower the opacity on the yellowish text layer with "PS". That really stands out, but that's how I see at it, my own liking. You might like it and that's ok too. Well done anyway 🙂
Day 4
Thanks @oak depot
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @oak depot
I'm always a day behind
My CPU is too old for the neural filters, so it takes like five solid minutes of thinking to make tweaks. Oop
Well, it was more an example of "chunky color," but I think the comparison stands!
@simple idol Really cool graphic look to this design! The wavy text effect on top is looking good as well. Some color variations would definitely be cool to see. Nice job Biola!
@paper shadow This is looking really nice, I like the big bold look of the text. It contrasts really nicely with the background, though it could also be interesting to see a reaaallly subtle drop shadow under the white text to see if that gives it just a little extra pop against the background. Nice work!
@halcyon current These are looking great! The graphic elements balance really well with the text. I think I personally like the blue one the most due to the stronger value and temperature contrast. Very cool!
@compact pecan This is looking great! The drawing works really well with that vintage look and style. The texture on the text adds a nice feel too. This is just personal preference, but it might give more of a realistic vintage look of the yellow tint to the drawing was slightly more red in hue, and a bit more desaturated. Very nice work!
@distant needle I like the creative structuring of the text. It has an interesting flow to it. The boldness on the "fly" text is a nice touch, and the background graphics are working really well too. It’s great to see all the different color variations too. Nicely done!
@queen geode This is looking really good! The color variations are nice to see. There's a really nice visual hierarchy between the main text, the PS text, and the faint graphics in the background. It all reads very well, nice work!
@lost helm Very nice, this is looking good! I like what you did with the text, and the photo has a nice contrast to it while still fitting in well with the design. This is a bit of a nitpick, but it might help to have the darker part of the background gradient a touch lighter, and have the paragraph text be a touch darker for more readability. Well done.
Todays challenge
@oak depot No problem! You're welcome to post any of the challenges at any time during the 2 weeks, and we also have 2 weeks of replays after that for extra time. This is looking really nice, the text color fits the color palette very well and still has a nice clear contrast against the background. Nice job!
@night maple Loving the playfulness of this image. Some really great colors and texture going on, but there's still a really nice focus with the high contrast of the text and more faded background image. Looks good!
@lusty relic These designs came out well. Nice work with the text warping effect and the graphic border and background elements. Everything has a nice clear read to it. Nice work!
@sand sand Very nice job with the wavy text and graphic shapes! Everything has a nice clean and clear look to it. The faint background graphic is work well too. Well done 👍

Hi Everyone. So glad I decided to finally join these challenges (I am hoping to catch up on the Ai challenges this weekend), they are really helping me to get acclimated to the applications. Love seeing everyone's creativity and love the feedback on each post- I try to apply them to my designs. Here is my Day 4, Chunky Colors Post.
Thank you Sam! I appreciate the feedback I'm getting and it helps me a lot to see in a different way. Blue is my favourite colour so I like that one better too even if I don't know why but you mention the contrast is better in that one and that might be the thing.

Thank you @eternal mica 🙂

Lovely result on challenge 4. I can't decide which one of the colour variations I like most as all of them gives me a good feeling. Maybe it's the yoga-message that creates that 😉
I don't think your image will lose the message if you tone down the PS a touch. I don't think you have to lower the opacity much to get a better balance. I read Sam's reply to you on the same image and saw that he didn't mention that at all and that's how this with creativity works. We all have different backgrounds and preferences as well as we all like different things. That's what art is all about - it's in the eye of the beholder and you can't please all.
I still like the blue version best as it's makes me calmer besides the fact that blue is my favourite colour 😊
I love the after image even if the before image is cool too.
Thanks. I think I like the green the best too! I have a few other color variations I may post later.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @halcyon current
I like it even if it's a touch of too dark. The combination of the colours works very well.
Looks very nice but I think that the colour of the title-text as well as on the social media icons at the bottom is too light as it's hard to see. I would suggest you change that to a darker colour.
Bot sure can be sensitive sometimes 🥰🥰🥰
Oh I really like the colours in this one. I might have moved up the text a bit as the land looks interesting but on the other hand you will lose the lovely sky... Hard decision - well it might be best to have that text to stay where it is 😉
I like all your colour variations but that white glow on the word FLY throws me off a bit as the white doesn't seem to fit in the image. I might change that to a colour that's already in the image... maybe from the darker sun/star in the background.
Good job @lost helm My eyes draws to the coloured border on the left part of the photo so I'd probably remove that if possible, but that's only my personal feeling.
Nice colour variations where the yellow-greenish one is a bit hard to read. I think that the contrast between the main text and the background isn't big enough to make a good readability. I have one suggestion and that you either would vertically center the shapes in the middle within the surrounding rectangle border or remove it as now does the border touch the big star.
@halcyon current thank you for the added advice. I appreciate it.

We are all here to learn, at whatever level our individual skill level might be. Your Fantasy Landscape is cool. It definitely has a tropical vibe. The white stroke gives a real central focus to the transparent text. Good job by you.
@sand sand I wanted to follow on Sam's comment and suggest you might do something similar to the text in the blue image. The middle text is swallowed up by the images in the BG. A layer style of your choosing could add contrast and make the design pop.
@umbral perchThe design is beautiful. Lovely color palette. I wanted to follow on Sams comment and suggest you can also use a layer style (stroke/drop shadow/etc) to give the text contrast against the BG.
@compact pecan In your Day 3 design, I would also suggest that the stroke on the small text on the bottom be reduced, or even eliminated. Alternatively, you can increase the kerning of the text to give the letters more room to breathe.
Thanks for the feedback I updated it and it does look better. If it were up to me I would put a drop shadow on just about everything 🤣 but I was told that its not a good idea its what beginners put on everything so I've been trying to scale back on using it.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@tropic knoll Awesome photography. Excellent design; excellent execution. I especially like when I get to see the assets that get composited into a design. It adds so much to my appreciation of the creativity that went it. I agree with you, I like the dissolve.
@neon kayak In addition to Sam's comment on your Day 3, I might suggest adding a layer style to the text to give it greater contrast.
@left abyss Welcome back. Its been quite a while since youve posted here. We hope, this time you'll stick around. Very well done Challenge 1. I like the extra space you gave the photo inset. It leaves enough room for the text.
The cohesive feel to this design is great. Your color palette picks up all the tones of the inset photo. Your icons are spaced out well. Good work.
@gaunt veldt Interesting interpretation. The sky replacement looks solid. I like the brush strokes. The image definitely has the color tone youre driving for. I think you can do more with the text perspective to get the feel youre trying to create. I dont catch the idea of the blurred front text.
@silent perch Beautiful photography. I learn a great deal when I see the original assets that went into a composite like this. I'd love to see yours. Your application of the sky replacement, especially with your own photo, is very well done. There's a wonderful symmetry to all the lines in the design moving up from lower left to top right. The blue green color palette is awesome. Very well done by you.
@bronze flicker Awesome Fantasy Landscape design. I love that you posted a moodboard of your assets. The elements come together beautifully. The fonts you selected give real interest to the design. Just a matter of personal preference, what would you think about adding a slight drop shadow to the main text to add some depth and even more pop?
@warm hamlet I think we missed commenting on your social bio. Sorry about that. Its a great design. The way you picked up the colors from the photo inset into the color palette below gives the design beautiful cohesion. I really like the sense of motion created by having the plane image focus the attention in the same direction as the model. I would suggest one tweak. Some of the white text, especially the thin parts of the letters, is getting lost in the BG. Perhaps little off white shade might solve it. Maybe a layer style? Awesome work combining filters in your Fantasy Landscape designs. I keep staring trying to decide which I like better. I decided BOTH!! Very well done.
@stone steppe Beautiful design for the Fantasy Landscape. I agree with your instinct about the font. I dont think the problem is the font. I think selecting one of the lighter colors from your image for the fill will solve the issue. Or maybe a layer style (stroke/drop shadow?) Give it a shot. See what you think.
@toxic patio It doesnt get mentioned much in the streams, or the chats, but many of the newer Ps techniques eat up computer memory. Even on the newest most souped up machines, we can see the time it takes for neural filters to process. Theres a technique Sam taught in a past DCC series to create an Action you might want to watch. It might work for what youre trying to do. https://www.behance.net/live/videos/13311/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-Fancy-Text

Whoa!!!! Where was it that cold??
@wary swan What a fun design. So much going on here. The text came out awesome. The sky replacement is spot on. Definitley get Hitchcock's "The Birds" vibe out of this. I dont know whether to join in or run for my life!!!
@plain sable Great tweaks. I like the design even more.
@plain sable Excellent job on the sky replacement. Working around all the trees came out perfect. Adding highlights to the trees to add definition also came out great. The text stands out well without diminishing the effect of the image. Very well done all around.
@dusky wave Very well done Chunky Colors. I like your color selection, the added emphasis on the shapes, and the masking of the lines. Good work all around.
@digital pike You nailed this one. All three designs look great. Your mixing and matching of the colors for the text and the images is spot on. Nice work masking the lines. Good work by you.
@dusky swallow Very well done Fantasy Landscape. The overall look of the image changed nicely. I like your text effects and gradient. Subtle but substantial. Good work.
@distant needle Super job on the Fantasy Landscape. Thanks for posting the asset. That always adds to the appreciation of your design. The sky replacement looks super. The work on the text is great. Even though three different texts might normally look too busy, in your design, I think it looks right. Each one is handled very well.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @distant needle
@gaunt veldt Good work on the Chunky Colors. Youre spot on. The masking of the lines is well done. The additional subtle designs add good interest. I think I like the blue the best. It seems to me to be the boldest and fits the phrase.
@quiet ridge Good work on the Chunky Colors. Seeing the variations is great. The masking of the loines is well done. Each of the colors you selected stands out boldly and clearly, tho the last is a bit faded for my personal taste.
@tame jacinth Very lovely Landscape Fantasy. Your masking of the flowers is very well done. I would make one tweak. Since you burred part of the BG, I would be consistent and add the same blur to the sun and sky.
It was -40 degrees celsius (-40 degrees F) here yesterday. I wish it was -17, thats nice
@eternal mica I agree that is why I had to do some tweaking lol 🥳
Thanks! It took a little finagling to get a good balance. Even after I posted it, I wasn’t 100% sure it worked. Thanks for the validation.🥰
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@lusty relic Haha, great text. I get a sense form the wavy text that theres almost a smile to it. The colors look awesome. How about posting one in "chocolate brown"?
I think that qualifies as "very cold"!!!!
Thanks
Thanks for your feedback Ted , I did the comp. a little diffrent than Val. I did first a harmonization on the photos, the sky replacement then a harmonization of the sky to the background.

@eternal mica Thanks 😊

Hello creatives,
I cannot see the video of the Ps challenge num 2. Do you know the right link for it?
She was sick that day so there is not one for it but she is supposed to be recording and posting it as soon as she can. She said she will pit out an announcement when its done 😃
I'm a little bit behind... but here goes - Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge: Social Bio
@cinder sandal Welcome to our group. If you'd like to view the Welcome stream, which explains the process, check the pinned files in the ribbon bar above. Then you can go to https://www.behance.net/challenge/photoshop , the Ps DCC landing page, where you can see the individual challenge videos and access the work files. And, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out at any time. We're here to help.
@cinder sandal Thats a good first post. Good for you. You did a neat job with the challenge. Your color palette is strong and interesting. The gradient you created looks good. I might suggest you add a curves adjustment layer to increase the highlights and add some pop to the design. But thats totally personal preference.
@lethal prism Good work on Challenge 3. Thanks for posting the asset. The sky replacement looks great. The water reflection adds a realism. Challenge for you: how about switching the text from orange to blue where the image switched from blue to orange?? It would add pop and contrast to that part of the design. Your Chunky Color designs are bright and bold. I like the second one more. I think the first one has too much going, and the text is too small to read. The second one is clear crisp and fun.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @lethal prism
Is this what you meant?
@devout musk Now is just about the perfect time to learn about us!!! Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. If you have any questions or need help, just give a shout. We're here to help. Nice work on these two posts. On you Social Bio, I like your positioning of the text and photo. I would suggest you tweak the pink text to make it more legible. And add contact info. Im not sure which challenge the Twitter text is for. (In the future, if youre not posting for the most recent exercise, please identify which one the design applies to.) The text has a cool sense of motion. The color palette makes the design look like floating clouds, and gives an ethereal vibe. Nice work.
@rocky kite Good job creating the day 4 challenge. Your varied text cerates good interest. I think the bottom line might be a bit difficult to read, but thats a small nit pick.
@neon kayak Good work with these two designs. The Chunky Colors looks great. Theres one spot in the middle of the large text that seems to be amiss. Im not sure what you could have done in the masking to cause that look. Your cover design is bright and fun. The pastel color palette. looks great.
@gilded flame Very well done Chunky Colors exercise. I like the three colors you selected for the variations. For most of the other designs, I was partial to the dark blue color but on yours I think the magenta fits the text better. The subtle yoga figure works well. One tiny tweak. I think the last line of text could be scaled up to make it more legible.
@cinder sandal You can do the earlier exercises in this set of DCC and post your images in this tab. You can also go back and do any of the challenges from earlier series and post your work in the past-challenge tab.
@muted quail Very well done Chunky Colors exercise. All four colors look solid. Your wavy text and masking of the lines is spot on. i would have one small nit pick. The last two lines of text are too small. Maybe take a shot at giving them more room to breathe.
@wet sinew Welcome to our Ps DCC Discord chat. Happy to have you join the fun. Very nice design for the Fantasy Landscape exercise. The sky replacement looks solid. I would make one tweak. I would use a brush to soften the edges of the white rectangle you have around the text, to allow it to better blend in with the BG image.
@spark saddle Id love to see the asset images to evaluate what youve done here.
@tawny badge Really well done Chunky Colors exercise. The way you masked the lines is right on. your color combinations are each very well done. I think I like the last one the best, but the others are right behind. The dark green one is the only one Id say could use more contrast and pop.
@young karma Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. Great to have you join us. Great first post. You masked the lines well. The design has an electric almost neon feel. I would suggest a tweak that adds contrast between the blue and black to make the design a bit less harsh on the yes.
@queen aspen FUN FUN FUN. Great concept for the Chunky Colors exercise. You did a wonderful job with the text fill and varying palettes. Well conceived.
Well executed. The one tweak Id make is to give the lines across the top the masking effect that VDV exhibited. It will make the text that runs across them more legible.
@vagrant rapids Wow, awesome. Such a cool way to exhibit the color variations. The variations are so soft and subtle. The wavy text mask over the lines looks solid. If I had to make a criticism, I would like to see the tri stripe on your sneaker and the Adidas shadow image move in the same direction.
@wary swan Well done Chunky Colors exercise. The four colors you selected are bold and strong. They fit the design message.
I love when tweaks are posted that show how much a second look can improve a presentation. The blue one is especially good. Great tweaks by you!!!
True, but theres a time and place for everything.
@near knot Welcome. Youre not behind at all. This DCC series runs the whole month. You can do the exercises in any sequence, in your own time frame. Good fist post. Lovely color palette. It really fits your message. Good layout. Good positioning of the icons. One tweak Id suggest is to move the green title text over to the left to give it a visual connection to the grey text. (Im not sure if It would look better right or left justified to the end of the line.)
@lethal prism Yes I like it. I think it adds serious pop. What do you think?
Thank you so much for the feedback. I agree - the dark green text does look a bit lonely and disconnected from the rest of the text.

Thanks for your feedback @eternal mica- what a good idea, just have to flip the sneaker 🥳

Day 3 - Fantasy Landscape
I like it too! I think it looks a lot better. That is why I like putting my stuff on here. I can get someone to look at it in ways that I cannot see it because I am too close to it. (Most of the time, anyways)...
Sometimes there are people on here that love being really negative to other peoples work.
Day 4 - Chunky Colors (a bit outside of the box version)
Day 4 - Chunky Colors (regular version)
I like the beige (middle) one best, with the green one second. Green would've been first if there were a little more distinction between the text and the background. I also love how you played with two different groups of colors. These were fun to see! Thanks for posting!

@eternal mica, thank you! I appreciate your kind words!

CHONKY COLORS CHALLENGE. So many colors; so little time.... Encountered challenges layering bright type over the number 8. Ended up turning red stars on and off depending on the color of the content. Which color combo do you like best? What would make it better?
ooh. I guess those are kinda small. Sorry!
Day 4
@thorn gulch Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. Its great to have you join our group. If you have any questions, or need help with anything, just give a shout. A string of really cool posts to get started. Good for you. Your Social Bio is well done. The spacing of the text and the inset is well done. Cool that you took a BG from the last DCC series to use here. I like the stark white text in the two different fonts, especially in the way the thickness impacts the importance attached to each. You spaced the icons nicely. I would suggest you could enhance the cohesiveness of the design by having more of a connection between the color palette of the BG, the photo, the rectangle fill. Super work on the fantasy landscape. It would be great to see the assets you used. The compositing has a "put together" vibe, but I think it works in this setting. The Chunky Color GIF is awesome. Great color palettes. Great execution. The masking of the wavy liv=nes is right on. Solid work all around.
@hollow yarrow Your Fantasy landscape looks great. It sky replacement gives it a warm vibe, even tho its about "snow". The circle brush strokes make it feel like its being seen through a window. Both of your Chunky Color designs look great, but the GIF really is cool. The color combinations for each are spot on. I especially like the teal blue one.
Wow, thanks Ted! I used a bunch of assets for the fantasy landscape. I appreciate the critique very much. You'll be seeing more of my work in here.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
I suggest, to make it easier to post, create one new file and add the assets as if its a moodboard
Cheers, Ted!
Here ya go! 😄
Yummy!!!!🍫
Thank you. I will try that. But right now i am stuck on chunky color challenge. I can't seem to do the top masking trick to get the lines to disappear under the words and for the stroke to become see through. i will keep trying.

Thank you. Terrific job by you. The only small thing I would change is the compositing of the base of the trees. I would even go so far as to include a small bit of the sand to eliminate the digital pasted on look they have on the grass.

Great design and color replacement turned out nice. Impressive work!

Nice color iterations the 4 designs turned out really great! Love tthe flower shape in the background and soft gradient on petals adds a nice touch. Nicely done!👍
Wow! love the grungy style of your frames. Love the red and cyan look too (2Strip color lookup table?). Grain and bokeh effect in background add are on the point. Impressive work!🤩
Challenge #05 - Distressed & Vintage
@willow frost DCC 22-01 05 Chunky Colors
@vagrant rapids Very nice, the subdued colors and texture definitely give it a bit of an aged look, but the bold color palette definitely pushes that 90s vibe. I like the textured and painterly feel of the border. Nice work!
@tame jacinth Hah, cool idea for this design! The bobbleheads and text stand out nicely against the light contrast of the background graphic. Nice work with the wavy text effects too.
Thanks
@wary swan Ooh, digging it! Those colors definitely have an early 90s vibe which I really like. The textures and graphic look work really well with that style too. The sort of offset color highlights here and there are a nice touch. Looks good!
@young karma This looks great! I really like the way the text works with the image it's overlapping, and the repetition of the pink color in the photo background and the text/graphic works really well to unite the whole design. Very nicely done!
@compact pecan Ooh, very nice, cool effects. Really liking the colors, and the texture really helps push that aged look. This is minor, but it might be nice to brighten up the face a bit, it's the focal point but is one of the darker areas so it loses a bit of focus contrast wise. Nice work!
@simple idol Great edits to this image! The background really helps focus the attention to the portrait image, and I love how you repeated the color from the glasses in the text and background. The texture is a really nice touch as well. 👍
@stone steppe Well that's the main goal with these challenges! Glad you enjoyed it. I think the texture definitely adds an aged feel and the colors and shapes give it a really fun feel. I wonder if giving the edge of the dancer a super subtle blur so it's not so perfectly crisp could add to that aged feel. It's also super minor, but it might help to clean up some of the masking around the hand at the top. Really nice job with this, it came out well!
@lusty relic Oh, you nailed that aged look! Everything is working really well, from the faded contrast in the dark tones, to the colors, to the aged texture. I really like the sort of album cover direction you went with this. Glad you learned a lot from this one. Nicely done!
@frail ice Really nice work with the different color variations of this Challenge 4 design. I like the bold color contrast of the top right and bottom left design especially. The graphic elements look great and the text structure is working very well. Looks good!
@coarse portal Hah, sometimes just running with it is the best way to go about a design. I think you got a really cool effect with. Almost makes me think of some sort of sign found in a forgotten work shed, or after some apocalyptic event. Kind of that charred/worn look giving me that vibe. Cool effect on the astronaut graphic too, nice work!
@hollow yarrow Niice, loving these colors Franck! Definitely going for those loud 90s colors. That texture is a nice addition to push that aged feel a bit more. Also really liking the polaroid mock up presentation. Very nice!
@dusky swallow Really nice job with the rough texture and grain effects. That along with the colors and style of this image definitely look like something that could have come out of the 90s. Looks good!
@lucid plover Heeey Fery, nice to see another design from you! Really cool lighting in this portrait, and I like the simple bold title text at the top. I think if you faded the darkest tones slightly, and maybe even added a little subtle grain effect in the black background it could push that aged feel even more. Nice work!
Thank you! I am so pleased that you remember me 🙂 I have been working on projects in other places. These challenges are so helpful for learning new techniques a little at a time.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@quiet ridge Hah, perfect photos for this challenge. I really like the textured background and colors of everything. This is just personal preference, but I feel like a bit of texture/grain over the people, and slight lightening/fading of the darks in the image could help push that aged feel even further. Nicely done 👍
@dusky wave Really nice, everything has a nice aged feel with the colors and contrast of these images, as well as the texture. It kind of has an almost paper cut out feel to it which is really neat as well. Nice job!
@hushed spade Wow, loving all the color variations! Yeah, finding contrasting colors and shapes that work well together can definitely be a challenge when making variations. I think the light and dark contrast of the middle one works well and looks quite good. I also like the center-top design with the blue and yellow, but it could be nice to make some of the smaller star burst shapes blue to balance out the blue-orange elements a bit more. Nicely done!
@thorn gulch This came out great! Really loving the bold colors surrounding the grayscale portrait, really nice contrast. I like how this looks like it could be a billboard or something on a graffitied background wall. Nice job with the texture and aged look to the design. Well done 👍
@eternal mica Great variations! It's interesting to see how the graphic elements relate to each other in the different color schemes. I think the first one (top left) is my favorite. Kind of reminds me of the packaging for guitar/banjo strings. I like the orange and green design, though I think the values could be separated a bit more. Maybe darken down the orange a touch? That might also make the background graphics a bit more visible as well as contrasting more against the bright green text. Nice work!
Fantasy landscape- Maybe a different color for the text? or too wordy? The Spring Filter made it so green!
original images
@steady saffron Great mock up image! The background colors are looking cool, and the grain helps push that aged effect. Though it looks like the grain is only affecting the portrait, if you apply it to the background too, as well as brighten up the darkest tones of the background to more closely match the more washed out darks from the portrait it might unify everything a bit more.
@lethal prism This came out really well! The bold colors, yet sort of faded look to the whole thing really helps push that 90s vibe. The texture and glare spots are also a really nice touch, as well as the date stamp and polaroid mock up. Nicely done 👍
Thanks Sam. I agree the orange is a bit over the top. But I wanted one with an extreme vibe. I'll play with the saturation and see what it looks like.

It looks to me like you don’t have a color or a stroke selected. In your properties panel, or above across the top (depending on how you have your windows set up) check to see if either have a color selected.
Thank you

Yeah. Weird. Even if the layer you are using to create your shape with pen tool originally says "layer" (in the layers panel), it should change to "shape" once you start drawing with pen tool.
I've never fooled around with blobs before....that's a true confession. Interesting - and they look better flat. Most curious.

day 1
Maybe I missed it, but did you make sure your Photoshop is up to date and restart your computer? Sometimes that takes care of glitches.
This one was fun! I didn't necessarily like my blobs, but they worked well enough stacked together. I am so glad Val pointed out the other day that we can go back and forth between smart objects and layers. I did that several times today! What do you think would make this design better?
Here's what I have for challenge 6. I think the font made me think of a museum.

I realized after upload that the text with blend modes and opacities was pretty small and almost impossible to read so here they are from the noise-layer and down:
Screen 25%, Pin Light 20%, Screen 30%, Color Burn 30% and Overlay 30%.
Challenge 6 Unique Shapes
Day 6 challenge - done 😊
I really like the light leak on this! I think it really looks like it's a faded polaroid. I think you picked a good stock image to fit the context, as well.
I like the color palette you chose for this one. And I'm not sure if it was intentional, but the contrast between "bold" as in "bold colors" and the softer hues of the pinks/purples is a really great play on words of sorts.
I think blues and yellows are my favorite color combos! I like your use of the starburst in the center to really give this an amplifying feeling
Hi Hugh! Really glad you liked it. The bold colours was done unintentionally actually. I just love the colours and i thought they fitted the background and also the message. But glad it worked well 😊

@tawny badge Very nice, this is looking good! Really nice job with the texture. The background gradient works really well for this album cover looking design. This is completely up to personal preference, but it might help push that aged look if you gave the person an evvvver so slight blur just so the edges aren't quite as crisp, and/or taking down the brights a touch so it has a subtle faded look. Just some thoughts, nicely done!
@gilded flame These designs are looking really nice for the Day 4 and 5 challenge. The Day 4 design has a nice readability between the text and background design, and I loved the faded yet vibrant look of the colors on the Day 5 design. Definitely looks like it could be an album cover or something from the 90s. Nice work!
@young karma Clever! I like it. Really liking the colors in this image, and the style of text works well. I'd be curious to see the bottom text as a really light shade of either the purple or pink tones from the image rather than 100% white to see if it fits into the image more that way, but that's really a matter or personal preference. This is looking good!
@onyx field Nice job, I like how the graphics fit in nicely with the image you chose. It could be interesting to see if making the text on the left side a bluish tone from the sky would give it a nice color balance. Just a random thought. Looks good 👍
@near knot Hah, definitely getting that retro vibe from this image, the color palette and faded tones definitely help with that. Really loving the nice clear graphic read of the umbrellas, benches, and text. It all fits together nicely. Well done!
@obsidian sequoia This looks great, really nice balance of shapes and values! Great graphic look to this. I feel like the main "adobe live is incredible" text could be a bit brighter to better separate it from the light background colors and give it a bit of a stronger read at a glance. Nice work!
@quiet ridge Cool design, I like the wild octopus-like graphic you created. I think it's often good to simplify the amount of colors used for a cohesive look, and I was thinking the second design (blue background) could look good if the green text at the bottom and the light blue text at the top was changed to the orange color in the background shape. It might unify the design a bit more while also giving that text some nice contrast against the blue background. Just a thought. Nicely done!
@thorn gulch This is excellent! You really took this challenge and ran with it which is great. Really nice balance of shapes in terms of size variation, shape, value, and contrast. It all balances really nicely with the visual hierarchy you gave it. The title text and band members stand out nicely against the background. It could be nice to see a version with the band a bit bigger and more prominent. Maybe if they were scaled up slightly so their heads just start to overlap the bottom of the text? Well done!
@young karma Great work with the minimalist shape challenge! I really like the flow your shapes have and the size difference between the big shapes and small circles. The graphic flowers add a really nice balance to the design and the title text has a nice strong read. Looks really good!
@compact pecan Loving this style! This design has a nice clear read even with all the bold colors, shapes, and textures going on. Nice job balancing that out. Really nice effects with how you layered all this, and the font works really well for this image. Nice work!
@halcyon current Great job with the color and contrast in this Day 5 challenge! That along with the texture and warm color grading definitely help push that vintage polaroid feel. Really liking the mockup and how you included the original in the presentation. Looks good!
@onyx field That's good to hear, that's always a win in my book. I liked how much you played with the stylized look of these shapes. It could be interesting to see a drop shadow on the text or some gradients (maybe on the background?), but that just depends on what you're going for. Nice job 👍
@tawny badge Really nice colors in this design! The shapes and text have a nice contrast against each other. Nice job on the graphic shapes, and the background texture and gradient adds a nice feel to it.
@paper shadow Really cool colors and texture on this Day 5 challenge! Definitely pushes that aged look. It could be nice to add a little texture to the text as well to really make it feel like it belongs with the rest of the design. Nice job!
@somber kestrel Nicely done, everything has a nice vintage look to it. The colors and texture add a lot to that look and feel. I feel like you could probably even lighten the black background a touch to give it less contrast and more of that aged/faded/washed out look which might feel like it fits more with the portrait. Looks good!
omg that would entail going back to your challenges ok lol dig yas all

@coarse portal Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. Great effort on your first post. If you have any questions, or need help finding your way around, give a shout. We're here to help.
@steady saffron We'd like to welcome you to the group. Really solid first post. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We're here to help. We're looking forward to your future posts.
@left abyss Lovely Fantasy Landscape. I think youre right about the text. It works fine against the white clouds but not so well against the greener BG. To keep the cohesion of the design, I'd suggest switching the fill of only those lines of text to white or blue.
Here is my trial for Challenge #6 Minimalist shape. I couldn't resist to do a starfish and to paint it... It isn't exactly the challenge exercise, but I like so much this illustration.
@plain sable I love your interpretation of the Chunky Color exercise. The design is great as are the variations you created. There's a common purple color from the text running through all three that give them a cohesive unifying look. Well done. Im not sure VDV is into Mandalorian. Is she? Great work with the textures you added. The black frames look perfect. One small nit pick. I would feather the edges of the insert into the tree to make it look less pasted on. Its a bit too perfect. And as always, thanks for posting the asset images.

Challenge day 5
@ruby goblet Very apropos use of the shape exercise. Fun way to use the puppet warp to make the shapes look unique. Nice color palette. The faint blob is a cool unifying shape for the design; almost a mother-daughter shape. The green gradient looks great on the blue. (btw, Im from NJ also.)
@gentle pasture Good effort with the Fantasy Landscape. The sky replacement looks solid. There's good cohesion in the design created by the multiple use of the various colors. Also, the strokes you added to the fonts make them all legible. Nice job.
@queen aspen Very nice effort with the Distressed and Vintage. I would suggest since youre blurring out the entire BG, it might make sense to be consistent by blurring out the model a bit more. The date stamp looks cool.
@queen geode You nailed this. Your design definitely has the vibe you were striving for. I love the colors, the light leak, the rough edge, the font. The only tweak I'd suggest is to blur the model and the record a bit to add the sense of an aged photo. Theyre both a bit too sharp and crisp.
@eternal mica Thank you. Will do. That is an awesome idea!

@bleak fossil Thank you for your input and I think you are right about the text color on the blue one

@young karma Hellloooo Stewart!!! Good work with the D&V. The texture and the film edge add realism. The date stamp looks good. (If he doesnt mind) you might want to add a slight blur to Stewart to add more of the "aged photo" feel.
@digital pike You love that balloon!!! Good job with the Shapes exercise. Really cool cohesive color palette. Good work using the puppet warp. One weird tweak if you'll allow me. The girl image looks a bit weird with only one arm.
@plain sable Very cool use of the puppet warp on your shapes. The color palette is great. Im not sure if you intended it or not, but Mischief is misspelled.

@dusky swallow Wow, really solid effort on the Shapes exercise. The colors are awesome. The bright brush strokes add real pop. You handled the text exactly the way VDV described. Beautiful work.
@arctic rover Youre good enough at this to do great stuff on a first time effort!! Very fun design. (I also struggle with drawing blobs and stuff.) One tweak I'd make to your design, I really like the text stroke on the top line. I'd repeat it on the bottom line.
Thanks, @eternal mica

@mystic topaz Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord group. If you have any questions, give a holler. We're here to help. Solid first time post. Sky replacement looks solid. I like the text fill you used on the small type. It goes well with design. I think a similar fill for the large text would add more cohesion than the white text. Also, just as a suggestion, in the future, if youre posting some sort of composite exercise, its helpful to post the asset images (the "Before") so we can appreciate what you accomplished in your design (the "After")
@rocky kite This is sooo good. The color palette is great. The puppet warp on these shapes is emphatic, but not weird. The multiple fonts work well together. And the shaded out shapes really grab interest. Very well done.
@frail ice I feel your (blob) pain. Im a charter member in that club. Enhancing our skills is the whole point of the challenges. You did fine here. First off, your color palette is interesting for this exercise, and it works. The green adds a little extra pop. Nice. The fonts you used are also interesting. And the blobs have a real hand drawn feel to them, which is totally fine.
@gentle pasture Loving your D&V image. Such an exciting 90's vibe. The textures you added are very effective. With all that's going on in the design, you still maintained a cohesive vibe for the entire design. Two tiny tweaks I'd suggest. I would scale up the top right text. And I would change the fill of the date stamp. They normally werent in white. (and maybe blur it a bit for realism.)

Day 5! Behind on the challenges this week!

Six colorful blobs live in this image. Each one has its own marble coloring and blending mode. Two Light Leaks are applied; one clipped to the marbled background while the other one blankets the entire image. This was alot of fun. Please let me know if there is something I can do better. I really appreciate this opportunity! Thank you!
@eternal mica The balloon and girl were my first accomplishments using Illustrator. If you look closely at the balloon / basket, the girl is waying from the balloon. Sorry about the one arm.😀

Tweak looks great. You know, from way back when, Ive got your back in the spelling arena!!
Yes @eternal mica you do 🙂
@eternal mica it's been great to have time to do this DCC. Only on class this semester so I should be able to keep it up.
Thats good news for all of us in the chat. Youre work is always interesting, super creative, and executed to perfection (except for spelling).
@plain sable I didn't even notice the spelling error. That's pretty cool Ted is so on the ball. I was looking at the fun shapes and how they are beveled. We are lucky to have him critique our works!
Im super anal about spelling. I dont correct everyone, because I realize there are so many people who English is not their primary language. But @plain sable is used to me correcting her, so Im ok saying it in chat. Thanks for saying that about my critiques. I appreciate it.

These were hard for me. Shapes are not in my wheelhouse which is why I am trying to practice them. I cheated on the birds though. Couldn't get them right to save my life. Going to turn this into a logo maybe? The lines in the design are for a mirage effect.
Hey Ted! glad you liked him. Added a slight blur. What do you think?
This challenge took a lot of trial and error. Especially the puppet warp. I finally realized that putting the points away from the edges made the shapes smoother.
Hello friends. A little behind. here is Day 6. I couldn't make up my mind so, I did two. Opinions and feedback welcome, and thank you in advance.
Re-jig
Love the texture on the mischief one! I wonder what it'd look like with a little more distinction between the M and the green blob.
OK. I've been struggling with this too long today. There HAS to be an easy way to do this but I haven't been able to find it. I want to use Val's color theme as the basis for an alternate in Adobe Color. How do I get her theme from my layers into Adobe Color so I can modify them?
Can anyone offer any HELP WITH ADOBE COLOR? (See above.) Thanks!
Day 7
This is cumbersome, but what I do is save the color pallet/layer or image as a jpg, then import it to Adobe Color.
Challenge 3- fantasy landscape- I am workin on an iPad Pro so no replace sky, more that I enhanced sky? Although I wonder…..can you import the select sky mask from Lightroom into photoshop on iPad?! , that could change how I do things.

Stewart will be happy!! Really well done tweak. What do you think?
Love the tweak

@gentle pasture "splash"????? I hope thats a good thing!!! Im too old to know what that means. 😜 🤣 😜 🤣
@sand sand. I saw the snapshot before you edited it out. The paper was 'aged', very cool. Perhaps you will post them both, side by side? It would be fun to see what you did. The colors and all look great!
Made a few tweaks to todays Challenge
The various angles are a bit 'wonky' but there's an overall whimsical vibe that is very appealing.

PS DCC #06 - Minimalist design
@sand sand. Yes, that one. The darker edges gives your photo a more realistic look. (in my opinion) I'm hoping Ted or Sam chime in. I'm not the best at boosting colors in an image. I do see your concern about it being to dark. But, if you can boost your grafitti colors, wow, that would look fantastic! Good luck in your endeavors! Thanks again for sharing!

This challenge was not without its, um, challenges. But I finally finished! Ended up jusk clicking an eraser on the walls because they seemed a bit overpowering. The result resembles marble! Who knew?? What do you think of the color palette? I wanted to do more across the top. Any ideas?
Catching up on challenge 4!
I love your color scheme, and the quote. So true! I wonder what your shapes would look like with shadows under them?
Did you mean to make part of the purple shape look like a person running? I like the transparency too.
I love how the front door looks (to me) like it's waving in the breeze. So you both moved and grew your doors, right? The leaf?/fish? shapes are fun!
I really like what you did here! Colors, compositing, quote. I missed the mermaid until I saw her in the assets shown. I wonder if there's a way to bring her out a little? A little more saturation, maybe?? Not sure.
That worked! Thanks, Cathy.

Aaaand catching up on Challenge #5
@oak depot Really great image for this Day 5 challenge. The color scheme is really nice and the texture really helps that aged style. I feel like you could probably even lighten up the dark tones on the figure to push that aged look even more, but it really depends on what you're going for. Nice job!
@oak depot Really great image for this Day 5 challenge. The color scheme is really nice and the texture really helps that aged style. I feel like you could probably even lighten up the dark tones on the figure to push that aged look even more, but it really depends on what you're going for. Nice job!
@hushed spade A challenging challenge indeed. The marble looking texture is really cool, and I like the contrast of the blue doors against the tan background. The door patterning is really cool too, nice work!
@tawny badge Really liking the gradients you created on this design! It could be really cool to see the same kind of gradient on the doorways to give them a little extra contrast and interest. Currently my eye goes to the pink top area due to it being the highest point of contrast next to the light blue. Nice job with the isometric look!
@dusky wave I really like the soft layering and transparency look of all these layers. Perhaps a subtle drop shadow on the text might give the beginning and end of the words a little stronger read against the lighter background for some added contrast. Nice color palette too!
@frail ice Cool stylized look to this design! I like the shape of the doors and the complimentary color contrast. The clouds and the way they overlap the hills is a really cool effect that adds some nice depth. Nice job with all these shapes.
@night maple Cool idea for this Day 4 design! I like how you experimented around with different value layouts. I really like the bold contrast and layout of the 3rd version with the dark background. It has a nice read to it. Nice job on these!
@halcyon current Very cool, I really like all the overlaying shapes you got here. The text flow does a nice job on mimicking the flow of the shapes too. My only nitpick is the text is a bit harder to read at a glance when it passes over the dark shapes. I wonder if a solution like a subtle light colored stroke or something else that strengthens the contrast could help. It also might be worth trying a really dark blue for the text rather than 100% black. Just some thoughts. Very nice work!
@dusky swallow Nicely done! This has a strong sense of the isometric perspective look which is working really well. I like the purple background too, it looks like something way off in the distance which is really neat. Looks good!
@plain sable This is great! These shapes all work really well together and have a nice balance to them. The text looks great, and works well with the really tactile looking background texture. Very cool design!
@quiet ridge Nice job, I like the purple/orange contrast in the color palette of the doors. The glow adds a nice effect too. I like the sort of variation in coloration you added to the green hills, but I wonder if a smooth, subtle gradient over the whole shape from top to bottom would work better. The same could look really nice on the sky and clouds too which might help mimic that natural gradient you usually see in a blue sky. Just some ideas. Nicely done!
@queen geode Wow, really clever idea for this challenge and great execution on the 3D effect. The gradients really add a convincing look to the walls. Really nice job on the 3D look of the dots and PacMan, and the ghosts having a little glow is a great touch. The text also fits really well with the design. Excellent work!
@distant needle Really nice, I like the sense of dimension on this text! The gradual brightening up of the text gives it a nice read and visual hierarchy as well. The background shapes are looking good and have a nice effect to them, though perhaps the middle shape could be slightly separated from the background to be a touch more visible? Nice job on this design.
@rocky kite Very cool stylized look to this design. The graphic shapes have a neat look to them and I feel like the color palette fits together nicely. The gradients create some nice interest too, looks good!
@digital pike Very nice, I like the cartoon-like look of this design. Nice job with the doors and graphic shapes 👍

This was one of the biggest working files i ever saved it saved in 1.36 Gb psb-file with all 28 layers, 3 Groups, and with a Scratch 11,4Gb/32,0Gb, without crash PS or computer, but then I flatten the image was the file only 19 Mb.
Chunky Colours
And then there was Day 4...
I like the texture you made for the background. How did you do it?
Your design is eye-catching without being loud. I like your use of gradients to set off both the center and the opposite corners. Neat! I wonder if there’s a simple way to add just a little weight to ‘vlog’ since the thin part of the V gets lost. Maybe add a tiny stroke in blending modes?

@signal grove To be honest I didn't think it would get posted until the replay started
I added a stroke to the center shape. I think that sets it out a little more. I'd originally had an outer glow on it, but it felt like too much with the BOOM.

Thank you for your feedback. The text is applied to the path for the bottom blue shape. I changed the text-color and added a slight outer stroke in the same color as the white-ish shape.
Thank you Meace for your feedback! There are already a slight drop shadow but I tweaked it a bit when I changed two more things. It gives the image even more depth I think.

I'm late - This is the Challenge #7 - Isometric Scene - I went by so many ways ... didn't really succeed to what I wanted to do - to "save" my artwork I added several effects - I used "Bas relief" in the filter gallery in Linear burn above the original artwork and it added that incredible grain and depth. That's a fun one, Gerard! The heart couple are so cute. How did you make the trees?
Wow! That looks like a book or album cover. Texture, depth, glow, pattern, font. Mist. It's got it all but not overdone, in perfect balance. I always like your work, but this struck me so much I had to say something! BTW what font is that? it looks very "elfy".
Challenge #8: Floating Archway
Day 7. This was certainly a challenge...😬
@paper shadow Nice job with the minimalist shape design! I like the cohesive color palette. It might look good to brighten up the main text to give it a little more pop and contrast. 👍
@onyx field This is looking great, love the layering and variety between all these shapes! The bright colors all fit together very well stylistically too. Nicely done and glad to hear you enjoyed it.
@prisma stone Really cool texture going on in this design. I really like the cohesive color palette, and the texture definitely helps push that vintage feel. Nice job with the text effects too!
@vagrant rapids Really cool style! Digging that sort of hand drawn look and texture to it. The perspective is looking solid and has some really nice dimension. Well done!
@quiet ridge Yeaaah, I think the contrast on that darker background works better for sure. I think even a really dark blue as opposed to black would work well if you wanted to keep a bit of the color palette feel from the first version.
@frail ice Really great use of shapes here! The composition is looking good and the strong contrast of the rabbit shapes draw the eye really well despite their small size. The textures add a nice bit of interest as well. Looks good!
@distant needle Very nice! Yeah, that definitely helps make it a bit more clear. And you could always make the stroke thinner or slightly darker if you want to make it more or less contrasty.
@queen aspen Ooh, loving the style of this. All the texture and style in this design fits together really well. Love what you did with the texture and patterning of the path and doorways. Really liking the addition of the watercolor-like texture and gradient. Nicely done!
@dusky wave Nice job with the framing around the doorway. The graphic shapes are looking good. One minor nitpick would be that the frame could be brought down a touch in the top left area to cover that dark gap between the two shapes. The layering is looking good 👍
@last mica Nice job with all these shapes! The layering is looking good and adds some nice depth.
@digital pike I really like the layering on the trees here! It creates some nice depth. The texture adds a nice look to it as well. Really nice job with all these different shapes. Perhaps the center design could be scaled up a touch to filler the background frame a bit more? Nice work!
@thorn gulch Excellent work with this isometric challenge! Reminds me of SimCity a bit. The isometric perspective and shadow on the white shadows gives this a really strong sense of dimension. Great colors too!
@near knot Great idea for a design! This text fits the style and challenge really well. Loving the colorful watercolor look of the background and how it contrasts with the sharp look of the graphics and text. I especially like the 2nd and last design. Well done!
@wary swan Oh wow, hah, that's certainly a large file. Was it a fairly large dimension? Nice work on this by the way, it has a nice sense of depth with the overlapping shapes and the textures add a nice look to it. Perspective is looking solid as well, nice job!
@gilded flame Great colors and design on this Day 6 challenge! The shapes are looking really good and the gradients add a nice sense of dimension. I also really like the bold contrast you created between the bright circle and dark text. There's a bit of a tangent going on with how the V meets up with the left side of a circle, perhaps shifting the text over a few notches to the left could help? Though that's really just personal preference. Well done!
@thorn gulch Really great challenges from you these past couple weeks! I really like the color palette you got for the Day 8 design. The graphic shapes all work really well together and have a nice balance. It could be interesting to see some more deliberate size hierarchy among the foreground palms/leaves to give it a sense of depth, but that just depends on what you're going for. Very nice work!
