@iron path First off, welcome to our Ps DCC Discord chat. Im sorry I havent had an opportunity to welcome you before now. If you have any questions or need help with anything, please feel free to give a shout. We're here to help. Your T&T design has a very powerful asset image the BG. My thought is the first goal of text is always to be legible. I can sense that there is some text in your image, but I honestly cannot see it. Im not sure what your objective is in making the text so dark. I would suggest you make the text legible, then repost your image and we can take another look at it.

Thanks, that is a text box. Maybe I need to redo it. Umr
No need to redo it all. I think it looks fine. I was just curious which technique you used.
Thanks, umr
@spice garnet First off, welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. Second Happy Belated July Birthday!! Third, nice design for the T&T exercise. It definitely has a summery feel. What would you think about moving the palm tree over the L so that the two vertical lines move in synch?
@wary swan I love the animation of your T&T design. The text looks great. The layer styles you applied add so much interest to the font. The coloring looks solid. The contrast is strong. The leaves are a colorful touch. Solid effort by you.
Great concept on this T&T design. Very good masking of the text and the character. The white text works so nicely. I believe someone already pointed out the blurry text in the lower right. Was that intentional?
@buoyant nova Solid Gradient exercise. It looks like your model is inside a bubble!!! So cool. I would make one tweak. I would like the model to be less blurry, and if you want to enhance the sense of motion, use a second copy of the model behind this one to create the blurry effect. Good job by you!!
@brazen basalt Your Gradient Ballerina is lovely. Having the ballerina fade off into the right side, with the gradient fading off to the left is really cool. Did you liquify the gradient on the left side? Maybe Im displaying my ignorance here, but what is ALTA Typesets? Whatever they are, your application of them is cool. Overall the type can use boosts in contrast against the BGs. Having the fill colors so closely blend with the BGs, makes the text difficult to read. The smoke in the Fire image is an interesting idea. How about moving it behind the solid "fire", transforming it up in scale, and masking it away as it moves away from the source? Good work by you all around.
I changed it , my point is to make a dark forest ambient and i wan the text to match with it , do you find it better ?
Ok I get your point. This is an improvement. You can still get the dark forest effect but add some layer styles to your text, like strokes, or drop shadows to make the text easier to read.. Besides the text, your image has a very strong pinpoint light source coming from the top right. Your text shadow is going in the opposite direction it should be to be consistent with that light source. Your shadows should fall in the same direction as the shadows from the trees.
ohhhh now it make sense !! i update it
Challenge #2 Masking etc
Love nature. Inverted and did a Cutout from the filter gallery then blended them together giving them a beautiful color palate. Great for future valentines creations, maybe.
Ps DCC 21-11 04 Type and Textures. Before digital photography, there was Ansel Adams. IMHO nobody has ever been better at turning Nature into Art.
Totally agree. Beautiful
I have several books of his work, and a few framed copies. (No, not originals. I wish!!!) I often wonder how long it took him to create some of his works. How many hours of waiting for the sun, the moon, the fog, the trees to be exactly how he wanted them to be. It boggles my mind.
My uncle was a photographer and the time he would just wait and then there was the lens and the shutter release speed had to be perfect etc etc. So many things that it blows the mind that with all the work going into those beautiful prints how we have so many to look back on. I remember him setting up his development room in our extra bathroom and the process was just wow... and yet 🤷🏻 He was no where near Adams though.
I had a darkroom in my basement when I was first learning photography. (Please dont ask me how many years ago, LOL) It was exhilarating to watch the image rise out of the chemical bath.
Oh i know better then to ask about years.... I have a few under my belt as well. I was inspired by a particular photo to get into art in the 80's called the Afghan Girl. I could not get her eyes out of my head for years and yet I was never great at photography. My art lent itself in other ways until I went to work for a company that showed me Photoshop and Illustrator. I was hooked.
That picture is from National Geographic, right?
Yes! One of my favorite mags back in the day.
Dude… that pic just says things beautiful
I have a book they put out with their best rated photos. It was rated the best picture of NatGeo first 100 years. And they had some fantazmagorical pictures to choose from!!!
Anyway. Bedtime. Im out for the night.
@eternal mica Thanks! I really appreciate your observations and compliments.
Night! 🥱
Thanks @eternal mica for your comments. Great suggestions as always. Wish I had time to play about with it a bit more but I have a plane to catch. Hope to keep up with the Challenges
Thanks for the feedback Ted, it is two stacked gradient layers that have 45 deg differences blend top layer and merge together with a small amount motion blur.
Thanks for the feedback Ted
PS Challenge #4 "Types and Texture"
Also tried the timeline feature but I exported it as a GIF instead
Thanks @eternal mica And thanks for your suggestion. I will give it a look! 😄
MY first try , really excited😅
I am just catching up!
@eternal mica Thanks for your kind words and suggestion. It’s great to be in here. Yes, there is a slight drop shadow over white text. In that way I want to create layered look. And I want to make that white text isn’t belong to background photo. It’s belong to “art”.
Revised Day 4 Challenge, with thanks to Ted B.
Thank you very much for the feedback, it's very important to me and it made me very happy! 🙂
Thanks @eternal mica ! The Anita Ekberg sculpture is from the Fellini museum in Rimini, Italy.
Text & Texture in Little Cottonwood Canyon in Utah
Text, Texture and the beach
She was beautiful. Is it in that coloration in the original?
Yes. No idea why. Fabulous museum.
I couldn't pass up and had to show you what I spent a few hours on, I love everything about this photograph
She's like omg I'm trippin
How cool this is! I am digging it!
Haha, Im so excited others are enjoying the chat @tired turret and I had last night. I must admit, it was way off the reservation. I thought some people might have objected. I felt it fit into the theme of Nature is Art, as there is nothing more natural than a human face. As I said last night, the photo was voted the number 1 photograph in the history of NatGeo. It is mesmerizing. Ive looked at it hundreds of times. Youre playing with the Mona Lisa here, but go for it. I think your work is excellent. The cartoonified image is wonderful. The grey scale is excellent. 💯
Thanks @eternal mica ! I agree with you and would love to be able to be able to make them intersect more, just don't have the skills to accomplish that yet.😖
@ashen sorrel To post your images to Discord chat, in Ps click Save a copy. Select format (jpg preferred.) Make sure the file size will be less than 8 MB. Select destination and file name, then click save. In Discord click the + icon in the lower left, select your file, type a comment (optional) and click ok.
There are two different options in Ps Timeline, frame animation and video timeline. Frame animation creates a GIF. Video Timeline creates an MP4. If you would like to know more, DM me.
Challenge 4
Day 02 (Auto Masking
I actually think I did! Lmk if you'd like to go over with me on my file what you think you would do with the curves so I can get a better idea for it as well as any other tricks and tips, thanks
Wow if the framing of this was a bit more centered or there was some other detail to see in the upper right third of the picture I could really see this as a good base for a book cover or movie poster!
@rotund pasture Is this design for one of the current Ps DCC challenges? If it is, please let us know which one so we can comment. If its not, I'd like to let you know this tab is exclusively for current DCC posts. If you'd like to post Ps work for other reasons, please use one of the tabs on the left (I'd suggest design-other, portfolio-reviews, past-challenge). Thank you.
Where can i see the challenges?
@hardy pike I pinned the Welcome stream on the pinned files above. You can find the Behance landing page here. https://www.behance.net/challenge/photoshop
— Day 04 — Type and Textures
Tried my best to get the contrast a little better and gave BG a little blur. I liked it better to have my butterflies in color. and as bart of the text. Hope you like the adjustment that I made 😄
Updated version. I gave some shadow depth to the trees and used blend if on type on underlying layer to give some light through. Also gave solid feet to the trees and shadows under. Thanks for the comments, Ted! 👍
Oh @teal cairn this illustration is amazing - wow incredible work on the fabric, the hair and OMG these eyes!
This is my trial for the Challenge #4 - I'll animate it during the next days.
@eternal mica Updated per your comment
Love it how you cut the edges of the photo. And coloring of the twxt is perfect. Good job
Good job you have done here. Love how you mix them together 😊
PS challenge - Type
Challenge 4
Day 03 Gradients
@ashen sorrel Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. We're happy to have you join the party. Very nice work with your T&T design. Creating the pile of leaves to create a "text box" for the design focal point is a good idea. The font is interesting and you aded some nice texture to it. Your GIF is also well done. Good work.
DCC_D5_C4
@errant kayak Welcome. Youre off to wonderful start. If you have any questions about the DCC process, give a shout out. I really like the way had your text mirror the lighting of the asset BG image. It picks that up nicely. Your font and texture are also well done. Good work by you.
@gentle pasture Cool work on the Gradient and the T&T designs. The gradient you created i s exciting and interesting, as is the additional text. The gradient you added to the model enhances the highlights nicely. The T&T design is solid. Having the transparent text works very well in this design because of soft monochromatic color palette. The drop shadow enhances the text nicely with some solid contrast. The leaves you added look fine. Good work by you.
If you'd like some tips on things you can try, DM me and I'll see if I can lead you through a few simpler things.
Day 03 - Gradient Enhancements
@lusty relic Its very difficult to get transparent text to work with such a busy BG asset, but I think you got it to work. There are a few spots where its strained to be legible, but I think, overall it works. I might suggest you lower the opacity of the BG asset a bit to enhance the contrast. And a drop shadow would probably to do a world of good to really nail it. Good effort.
@solemn bane Good effort with your Gradient. I like the way you softened the model with the gradient. The green works well with the brown of the model. On your T&T, your font selection is very interesting. I might suggest a few different ways to tweak the text. The dark green is struggling against the busy BG. It would help give contrast to the text if you added some other layer styles, like a drop shadow, stroke, outer glow. Id also recommend you lower the opacity of the BG layer and add a curves/levels adjustment layer to the text layer and enhance the contrast that way.
@full marsh Welcome to the Ps DCC chat. Very nice first effort. I like the font youve selected. Its very interesting. I think the text with the image fill might be a bit too busy for this design. The yellow fill looks better, especially with the drop shadow to aid the contrast and text definition. The leaves you added are a cool touch. Nice work.
@covert loom Good work with your Auto Masking design. The text looks great with the stroke, and the way you masked the letters. The flowers you selected and masked look fine and the placement looks real nice.
@young karma Lovely T&T design. I love the font. Whats it called? The color overlay you added gives a nice orangey tint to the whole design. The way you masked the text is a neat touch. The layer styles you applied to the text look great. And the lower opacity really works. Good effort all around.
I think the text looks a lot better, and therefore, the entire image looks better. But its not what I think thats important. What do you think?
Wow, I liked the first version, I love this version. Excellent tweaks!!!
@leaden idol Very well done T&T. The color you picked for your text really stands out and has contrast, even with the lower opacity. The font you selected is crisp clean and distinct. The masking of the big leaf adds interest. Just for the fun of it, what would a drop shadow do to the interest level of the text? Want to give it a try? Good work by you.
@vagrant rapids Very creative effort for the T&T. I love the font and the raggedy edged boundary. I might go with a more contrasty color for the text, or a maybe a distinct stroke/drop shadow. I believe the contrast needs a big boost.
@digital pike Solid tweaks. Solid improvement. Do you like the design better this way? Which one do you like? White/Green? I honestly cant decide.
@rocky kite Nice work on the T&T. The leaves add a nice burst of color. A number of people who selected this asset BG have had difficulty dealing with the very sunlit spots. I would suggest you move your text down to the lower third, and off center a bit towards the left. I think the darker BG will help your text pop. And if necessary, help it a little more with a curves/levels adjustment layer to give it additional contrast.
@lusty shell Very well done work with the text in the T&T design. The bevel & emboss looks like you carved the text into the image, almost like a wood carving. I might try a few different colors to find one that gives the text more pop against the grey/blue BG of the asset image. Or, this may be nuts, how about moving the text to the lower left, so you can have the grey offset over the green?? Like I said, maybe its nuts. But maybe .....
@covert loom Nice Liquify Gradient combo!!! Very lively gradient pattern. I might eliminate the liquify on the right side so theres more of a sense of motion in that direction created by the liquify on the left side.
@quiet ridge I love it!! So NICE!!! This image is too quiet for you!! What a calm feeling the falling leaves create. The text is interesting and has good contrast with the very busy BG asset image. Very well done by you.
@upper trail Lovely Gradient design. The masking of the model is great. It gives the feeling like she's floating in mid air. The varying opacities of JOY really works well. The blue gradient definitely adds to the vibe of the image. Solid effort.
Catching up for the week. Here's my automasking.
Thank you @eternal mica yes of course. I am happy with the result 😀 the bluring did a lot 😀
Thanks @eternal mica It was in at the beginning in lower left corner but despaired in green.I will try change colour
@eternal mica I like the white, thanks for the encouragement 😄
Thank you Ted! The font is called "Basteleur", designed by Keussel 😁
Thank you
Day 04 Type
@covert loom Beautiful job. You captured the essence of the exercise perfectly. The text is clear crisp bold. The little twist in the T is a cool touch to add uniqueness. The additional leaves merge well. The text fill is distinct and fits the image. I think two things really make the design pop; the bright yellow stroke gives strong contrast, and the way you carried the beams of light into your text layer make it look very very much a part of the BG asset image. Very well done.
Day # 04 (2)
Thank you for the insight, just what i need to improve my skills. I'm rather new to photoshop, but im loving it.
This is the perfect place for you. Thats how I started my Ps journey in earnest. The DCCs have been a life changing experience for me. Im sure, if you stick with it, your skills will improve dramatically. And you'll have tons of fun along the way, while being part of a an amazing community of people world-wide who are friendly, creative, supportive, encouraging.
Thanks @eternal mica
Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge#04
@eternal mica Thank you
@young karma Very interesting work, but this is not the correct place to post your work. This chat is dedicated to the Ps DCC only. If you'd like to post your work, I suggest you try one of the other tabs on the left like portfolio reviews, or design other. Thank you.
Great job @tardy talon !!!
Dear Ted b i a' sorry i t s not my work . At time i have a storm. My computer is close . I can just received and can send .
Thank you so much Paul 😊 💗
Day 04 - Type and Textures
Took this photo last week in Cyprus. I put some text on the wall of where this place is
Looks like a lovely place for a walk.
Yes, it is such a nice place, we took a picnic, lovely
Thanks for the tips! I added a drop shadow, but the most I could reduce the BG opacity was to 95%, any more and transparency grid became visible.
Day 2 and 3
Painting exercise: Neural Filters
Me with Neural Filters and textures
I just gave some depth and light as if they were true trees. Thanks, Ted! I am happy, Paul liked it! 🌼
day 4
IMHO it made a big difference.
Ps daily creative challenge: Before and after ( I used from Neural filter the color transfer and then from the filter gallery: Glowing Neon)
Ps Daily Challenge 04 Texture. The challenge for me was to create enough contrast with such a busy background so I did a glow on the font with green, light enough to blend with the background, my vision was to create a Font with a wood like texture, the pattern inside them are small leaves, I also did a sky replacement. (This is a photo I did with an Iphone X at the Florida Botanical Gardens)
Day5_PSDCC
funny, today's challenge is something very close to what I've done before
Playing around with different option and learn. Enjoyed it. 😄
Challenge 5 - Going for a street art vibe
Challenge 5 - Portrait painting... Well I know that this isn't a portrait unless you call it a portrait of the nature 🤪 The original is one of my own photos of a nice sunrise almost two weeks ago. I first went a round in the filter gallery and then I used two of Kyles brushes (Megapack - DrawingBox - VineCharcoal1 and Gouache Magic). I really like the smooth painterly look.
Before:
I like how you did the lettering with the big borders to look like it was carved out of the forest.
Challenge 3 : Working with gradients
I like that @dull lava ! Colors are nice. 🙂
Had this lion around (Style Transfer Neural Filter)
Thanks @dull lava just starting Ps
auto masking
This is such a goooood job! love the color you are selecting. All so cohesive. Love it @dull lava !
This is my trial for the Portrait Challenge.
I love the original picture 😃 I applied a pastel effect and lots of adjustment layers.
It sure is a beautiful Photo. Good job on the painting @vagrant rapids
Thanks for your feedback @eternal mica 👍 - yes I agree I need to increase the contrast. I'll do it but I'm also wondering if this one gets the same feeling that the other artworks of this serie and maybe I should change my mind to do someting completly different.
Thank you @lost helm! Did you choose this one ?
Yes 🙂 I did indeed. it is posted already.
@vagrant rapids Thats such an interesting question. First, Im not sure all your designs are tending to look so similar. Second, even if that were the case, in the past people have created portfolios of a series where there is a consistency and similarity to their various works, and it tends to look beautiful when all put together. I would suggest you not start all over. You can always make that decision later. For now go with the tweak.
Challenge 05: Portrait painting. Earl was hunting in Africa and killed his first but last lion. He was so impressed by the might and the beauty of this majestic animal. Both were brave, although the lion found death from the blow of the count's dagger. The Earl painted to memorize the lion´s dauntless face. These hunting legends ended on his side so far. Nowadays we have only portraits of both in the Museum of Fine Arts. Ha-ha-ha. Thanks for your attention. I used Ps effects and added some traces of brushes to give individual personality to them.
Oh yes, sorry @lost helm, I didn't scroll as high as I should. OMG 3 artworks 👍
I love her - the flowers 🌸 are amazing !!! Her face too, but the flowers get something really special. The second woman is really nice to - I like how the wool is reacting with the painting - her face is so clean (maybe we should do that before vectorising a portrait hehe). The painted bear get more details than the photo, as the snow, and I like this feeling that the whites of the bear mix so well with the whites of the snow!
Thanks @vagrant rapids Yes had such a fun with exploring option. Yes I am really happy about how the Polarbear turned out 🙂 It is little like lottery 🙂
Yes yes @eternal mica - it is the BIGGEST advantage of the second fortnight 😎
Thank you.
Challenge_4 : Type --- Its a little hard to reach the words, but I had fun experimenting with this challenge.
Love your image
Sorry everyone for posting so much today, playing catch up with the challenges I tried to submit my challenge 2 but it keeps failing. Challenge 5 : Portraits. Used the Lion, Neural Filters, Image Style, third row from the bottom middle style with the girl in the black and white style and check keep color button.
Thank you Paul, it was fun composing this design. Reminded me something you would see for a social media post for a store or a new brand trying to brand itself. I just realized I should have put an S with the word move.
Challenge Five
Just learning how to use Discord!! Tried the Photo Polishing challenge, have used very little Photoshop!!! But it is not letting me upload the image 😕
Hello designers. Here is my first attempt at Challenge 5. The picture on the right is the before. I used several brushes to create the background. 'm sure I'll change it at some point. Thanks.
Trying again 🙂
I combined a couple different Style Transfer Effects along with some texturing and a few adjustment layers to transform the photo...
Six For traits .
Hey, I just went ballistic on one of my photographic portraits; too much craziness.
Kind of my original some effects I did years ago?
family dog for my challenge #5. i hope portrait of an animal would count?
Before Filter Gallery
some Dry Brush, Neon Glow, and a little Stylize Glowing Edge
I used neural filters, artist style neon glow and sandstone texturizer. I didn't paint with a brush on it, so does it count as portrait painting?
Hello creatives. Here is my update to challenge 4. Thank you for indulging me as I continue to learn and grow with you all.
@forest basin Good effort on the Auto Masking. I would have liked to see you add more flowers to your image. The text looks good. I might increase the contrast a little bit to make sure the text stands out from the darker areas of the BG, like behind the top of the L.
@tardy talon Nice work with the T&T design. A few suggestions. I think you might want to switch the light and dark text effects so the sunlight source creates light on the middle text, and the darker text is on the right and left sides. This will sync better with the asset BG. The dark green drop shadow is lost in the darker BG. Perhaps use a lighter color.
@upper trail Nice combination of B&W and Color for the T&T design. You did a good job masking the water and the model.
It is liquify! And lol it should be ATLA. Avatar the Last Airbender. But I have fat fingers. 😅 I think that's a great idea, I will definitely give that a go before this gets posted on Behance.
@buoyant nova Nice job creating a contrast for your T&T design. I'd like to see the text scaled up to make it more prominent in the image. Are the stones really that blue? I wonder if you made your text feed off the blue shade, if it wouldnt add cohesiveness to the design?
You can accomplish the same result using a gradient overlay and masking in the darkening effect.
@last mica Cool sense of motion in the car image. Is there any significance between November and the silhouette image you used for the O?
@buoyant nova Nice animation. The sprouts look great.
@lethal prism Neural filters are so much fun. I might suggest you separate yourself from the BG, apply the neural filter to yourself, and either leave the flag in normal, or use a different filter on it. That would give your portrait a lot more contrast against the flag BG. But you may want this look. Thats up to you.
@last mica Very well done T&T design. Your text has nice contrast and looks bold and crisp. Solid work on the text fill. The additional shapes add interest. Good work by you.
@digital pike Cool to see multiple interpretations. You did a good job with the neural filter. They are not easy to work with. The cutout filter is also well done. Maybe a little color on the BG to add some interest ?
@kindred gate Every time I scan through the Filter Gallery, I click on Glowing Neon and try to use it. I have never found an image I liked with it. You found one!!! It looks great. Turning your cat into an electric black cat is super. Very well done!!
I am not much of a painter. I used the impressionist brush - van Gogh to do this.
@kindred gate Your text is very well done. I might suggest scaling up the text to make it dominant in the image. I think this asset image is a tough one to make a BG. Its so busy, it dominates the text, especially since the the text is dark and the BG is so light. You might want to blur the BG abit and lower its opacity to see if that helps.
@coral cloak WOW, thats a powerful interpretation of the Portrait challenge. I like it. Good work with the neural filter. The portrait has the feel of a wood carving. Good job.
@fleet trout Very well done portrait. The brush work is solid. Did you use any filters under the brush strokes? The lion has a fluffy almost Teddy Bearish look to it. Good work.
@slow totem Awesome design. The tricolor works great. The line drawings are very well done. I imagine you used a tablet for that. Is the fill neural filters or gradients? The BG holds the image together beautifully. Great job.
@lost helm I love when creatives present variations on a design exercise. These look great. I think the rightmost image is really well done. Actually, all three are really good. Good work by you.
@lusty relic Very interesting interpretation. What filter did you apply to the model? Nice job enhancing the original photo with your drawings.
@quiet fern I really like the neural filter lion. The colors the filter brought out are so alive. And its not distorted to the extent that the photo looks weird. The treatment of the older man is cool. Leaving his face clear of all the paint spots and zooming in on the face were both good treatments. Nice work.
@halcyon current Wow, That is very well done!!. The painted image is so wispy and light, it looks just as real as the original. Your work on the small details is just as solid as the bigger areas. Great job.
@dull lava Very good work on the Gradient exercise. The colors work perfectly together. You created a wonderful sense of motion with the blur.
@brittle slate has the lion "lion around", and its an incredible design!!!!
@full marsh Your Auto Masking is well done. The flowers look great. You might have been able to add a little clipped in color to the L and E. But that may just be my personal preference.
Trying to catch up!! Auto Masking 🙂
@vagrant rapids Very ephemeral feeling to this design. The aqua tint you created is lovely. I think I might try to get a bit more of the detail back. The white areas may be a bit too washed out, especially in the lower right section.
@copper moss LOL, I like the story line. Your paint strokes are well done. The lion is beautiful. Did you apply a neural filter to the lion before you painted it? I think the white collar in the top image is so bright as to detract from the rest of that painting. Did you intend that?
@dull lava Ive noted before, the first role of text is to be legible. If you feel the text is hard to read, I would suggest you tweak it. Maybe dont have so many leaves. Sometimes, less is more. Maybe lower the opacity of the leaves to make them subordinate to the text. Maybe increase the kerning of the letters to give them more space to breathe. Just a few ideas for you to try.
@dull lava Post away!!! Theres no daily limit!! The lion looks awesome. I think you enhanced the original image dramatically, without losing the realism.
@tropic garnet Well done Neural Filter design. The coloration really enhances this image. I like the highlight on the hair. It makes the whole image feel real. The brush strokes on the face make the model very striking and interesting.
Thanks
I had no plan going in to this one and it shows. 😬
Make sure youre uploading a file other than the PSD format, and make sure the image size is less than 8MB. If you have any problem, DM me.
Thanks Ted, I kind of figured that was the issue and went to a JPG. 🙂
@simple idol Im not surprised you'll change. You always change your designs!!! Your Painting looks awesome. Did you use a neural filter before you painted it? (BTW, the original is on the left!!)
@eternal mica thank you. I appreciate you. Omg, I always get directions wrong.
@real stone Id like to welcome you in to our fun group. If youre looking to enhance your Ps skills youre in the right place. If you need help navigating Discord or Ps, feel free to ask. We're here to help. Your Polishing design is well done. The skin looks smooth, has good tone. Your Auto Masking of the flowers looks solid. Well done. Just a personal preference, but I would suggest a different font. A font is a big part of the message being sent by a design. My thinking is although the font is interesting, it doesnt give me a sense of "love". What do you think?
Free transform and flip it and it will be correct!!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣
@eternal mica Thanks for the feedback!!! Yea, I was a little torn between having a lot of fun and something that was passing on the sense of love. As I was doing it, I kind of just felt like going tropical! lol
@sterile berry You really "electrified" this image. I love what youve done. The colors jump off the page. The skin tone is rich. The shadows are so much deeper. The only tiny bit of a tweak Id make is to lower the highlight on the paint on the forehead. Its really a problem carried over from the original image. It seems to be a bit more glaring in your version. Like I said, tiny tweak. Solid effort by you.
Thank you. I appreciate your feedback.
Your design. Your choices. We just give you food for thought.
Laurianne, I advised you earlier what type work gets posted here. Please respect the rules of this chat.
@gentle pasture Yeah, sometimes craziness works!! The red glasses and lips strong focal points to the design. The BG is very interesting. The overall color palette works. My only tweak would be about the blue framing the face. I think it makes the rest of the face look like a mask. Maybe you wanted that effect.
@fallow lily This chat is VERY animal friendly. We have some friends who almost always post images with animals. Nice work with the brush strokes. You might want to add a curves/levels adjustment layer to recover some of the detail on the left side of the dog.
@quiet ridge In the text just above this one, I was saying how animal friendly the people in this chat are, and here you go, proving my point. Your T&T design is cool. I like the layer styles you added to your text. Youve chosen a distinct color for the text, making sure it stands out from the BG asset. The color doesnt really fit the scene, but with your storyline, I dont think it has to. To really sell the cat images, Id do some work with the shadows.
@compact pecan Very well done brush design. You captured the skin tones, highlights, shadows very nicely. Good Job.
Thank you @eternal mica I hadn't thought about adding shadows to the cat but I can see how it would help them to pop a bit more .
@worn venture Wow, a real reverse negative style image. So interesting. Very well done. I would just tweak the left side of the face where the highlights (shadows, whatever you want to call them) are washing out the image. On the original, the shadows are a bit dark, but there is clear definition of the face.
Shadows always aid in selling the realism of objects one adds into a composite. And conversely, the lack of shadows make the objects look what Sam calls "digital", pasted on.
Very good points @eternal mica I will likely add them tomorrow
@simple idol This tweak is a significant improvement. The text really pops now. Id do one more tweak. Color "art" the same way you colored "nature".
@hearty quiver Wonderful job. Beautiful interpretation. The line strokes are lively interesting and work very well in the overall design.
Good night everyone. Check back tomorrow. I might have an exciting announcement!!!! (How's that for a late night teaser???)
Thanks, i feel very encouraged. Umr
Tried mixing several filters together.
Thank you for the feedback, will do.
Thanks, it's like Halloween 😁
@worn venture Really interesting combination of effects! The sort of neon pink with the greyscale makes for an interesting contrast. The texture makes for an interesting look too, especially on the face. Nice job!
@simple idol I really like how you played with focus and masking in this design for challenge 4, both of those add a really nice sense of depth. I like the gradient going on in the text, but perhaps seeing a little bit of that lighter green from the beginning of the "nature" text worked into the right side of "art" could be a nice color balance. Looks good!
@quiet ridge Very interesting style with these effects! I especially like how the leaves came out with this style. Also, I assume you must be a DBZ fan given your cat names? I used to be all about that show when I was younger, hah. Nice job with these different effects 👍
@compact pecan Very cool take on this by doing it all by hand! My only suggestion might be to add a little more noticeable shadow under the glasses (and may push the highlights on the rim too) to separate them more from the skin in key areas since the color and value are so similar. Currently it kind of has the effect that he has big holes in his head like a skull at a glance. Nicely done!
@fallow lily Pet portraits count too! The smoothed texture and masking it out against a simple background definitely help push that illustrated effect. The lighting in this picture you chose works really well too. What was the main filter you used for this effect? Nice work!
@gentle pasture Hah, it's always fun to let loose and go a little crazy with it, good way to experiment and you can always dial it back if you work non-destructively. I really like the effects you got here, especially that sort of water color look. This has some nice color contrast with the blue background too!
@young karma Really interesting style here! Kind of a cool mix between the original image and abstract colors and shape.
@sterile berry Really neat style! I really like how much boldness and contrast was brought into the face and hair to really make it a strong focal point. The separation in texture between the background and portrait is a nice contrast as well.
@real stone This is looking really solid! Very nice work with the retouches, it looks really natural and clean. Nicely done.
@simple idol Excellent work with the Challenge 5 portrait! The texture you got really nailed down that traditional art look, and the bold colors help as well. I really like the texture too, it kind of makes it feel like a pastel piece. You really nailed the level of smoothness/texture in the skin to give it a convincing look as a drawn/painted image.
@tropic garnet Really liking the background texture for Challenge 5. The bold colors and effects you added help push that traditionally drawn/painted look. Nice job!
@dull lava I like the subtlety of this portrait design, it works well! The textured background has a nice sense of motion to it as well with that sort of blurred look. Are you having any specific issues with Challenge 2 when you try to upload? The most common issue is if the file size is over 8mb on Discord, but that usually isn't an issue if you save as a JPEG and set the quality to 11 instead of 12 when saving. Nice work!
@dull lava I really like this effect, the leaves are a really nice element that makes it feel more illustrated, or more like a unique logo. I think the readability is still fairly strong, and the dark drop shadow behind the text helps with that too. Nicely done!
@copper moss Cool variety of effects here! Did you use a gradient map for the lion? Adding additional touches with a brush, or the mixer brush can definitely help push that hand painted look. The Earl's bright, wide open eyes give him somewhat of a sinister look, hah. Nice job with the textures on these.
@vagrant rapids This turned out really nicely! The pastel effect and texture works really nicely with this image, and I like the pop of warmth in the lips and skin among the cool tones of the rest of the image. Looks good!
@full marsh Great work with the masking of the flowers! I also really like the effect of the flower's texture in the "O". it might be nice to see a touch of that yellow from the center of the text in the L and E, even if it's just a little at the bottom of the letters to tie them all together a bit more. Just a thought of course. Well done!
@dull lava I really like the sense of motion the blurred figure gives the design on the Day 3 challenge! That along with the figure stand out nicely against the smooth background gradient. Looks good 👍
@halcyon current Cool to see you using your own photo for this challenge! It's also neat to see you applying these techniques to a landscape image. This definitely has a painterly feel to it, and I like the wispy cloud look that you got. Nicely done!
@quiet fern Whoa, cool effects! I love the variety of styles you got in these 3 designs. You really transformed the first image, and it has a really convincing hand drawn look to it. I love the bold colors of the lion design too, the warm orange tones against the cool blue/purple tones makes for a really nice contrast. Great work on these!
@lusty relic Very nice! I definitely think you got that look to this design, the background shapes and text really help push that street art feel. The bold colors and texture help that effect too. Very strong style to this image.
sam can you help me in #❓ask-a-question
It's actually all hand drawn. Traced 3 separate photos into one. Then added the gradients with a soft opacity sensative brush
@lost helm I like the style variety between these designs! Also really interesting to see how the texture affected the polar bear image, the fur has a nice illustrated look to it. The texture on the first portrait has a strong sort of pastel or colored pencil look to it too which is neat. Nice job!
@slow totem Very nice! You definitely pushed the illustrated feel on these a lot. The outlines over top the colored textures really help give it a clear graphic read. Nice job 👍
@tropic haven Really nice effects! The graphic read and more stylized texture really help push that traditional art look. Nice job
@coral cloak Really interesting effect! This definitely has a sort of pastel, or even watercolor portrait effect to it. I like the sort of sculptural look of the light and shadow. Very neat.
@kindred gate I think you did a really nice job getting the text to read clearly. The strong color contrast and bold letter style really helps give it a nice contrast against the textured background. Really cool texture, dimension, and stylization to the letters as well!
@worn field Really interesting effects on this design! The face and skin almost has a sort of metallic look to it which is really interesting. I wonder if darkening down the hat overall a touch might make it fit in with the contrast of the rest of the image a bit more. It also might be nice to tone down the background a bit to really let the portrait pop, maybe giving the background a slight blur could strengthen that contrast. Just some ideas of course. Cool look to this design!
@brazen basalt I don't know, I think this turned out to be a really cool effect! The soft transition between grayscale and color is neat, and the lines add a bit of stylization that looks good and works well. I like how you varied the line weight too. Nice job!
Thanks, I made it with combination of a texture I brush I created from a picture of a towel, two other custom brushes, and a gradient. The background is my favorite part. 🙂
@bleak fossil Thank you!
Thanks for your feedback! I'll try to get a bit more detail back.
Thanks for your feedback @bleak fossil!
thank you, I'm mostly proud of the glasses
any ideas on how to improve this image?
Gradients #3 are wonderful until you go down the rabbit hole and cannot dig your self out 😉
that insane
Hi Ted, yes that is the colour of the stones. I will alter the text. Thanks Ted
My entry for the day 5 challenge
if I would have gone with some different look on the background then the image of me that is in front of it probably wouldnt have looked like it belonged in the image... Idk
No, I did not use gradient map just effects Trani showed very well. I used with bg and fg colors in both. Then applied new layer and used crayon brushes. Thanks, Sam! 👍
Thanks, Ted for your comment! I used brushes on and then Bm: Dissolve. Maybe I will decrease it the color seems too bright. I did not use neural effect. 👍
@eternal mica Updated, Thanks for the feedback! 😆
Appreciate it, will work on your suggestions
#✂challenges-feedback Hello everyone I'm new) My first challenge
@young karma Welcome. We're happy you have joined our chat. If you need any help finding your way around, give a shout. It will help us critique your submission if you identify which exercise the design is for. Also, if you can post a "before" so we can compare it to the "after".
Thanks! Design to call photo polishing. I attach a photo to. And will it be reflected on the behance that I have completed?
I actually did two different images for this challenge. I couldn't decide which was better. This is one and I shall post the other.
This is in the same vein of the other image I posted. I was going for a "Mona Lisa" vibe.
Thanks. I think the surface blur was what really helped that illustrated look.
Thank you so much 😊 , I will try
@young karma Your Polishing design is well done. The skin looks clear and blemish free. The skin tone is very natural.. Good job by you. I dont understand your Behance question. The only images that will appear on your Behance page are the images you specifically upload there. Posting an image here in Discord does not link to Behance. Does that answer your question? If not, please clarify what you are asking.
@bleak fossil Thanks You!! 🙂
Thank you very much for the feedback. I thought that the call page would reflect completed and unfulfilled calls. Thank you for the information!
@bleak fossil Thank you for your feedback! I've been interested in create stuff with the painterly effect for some time so this wasn't new to me. This challenge gave me a confidence boost.
@eternal mica Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate it very much.
@sterile berry I really like your result of your Style Transfer Effects. Well done!
@dull lava Your Lion-portrait is gorgeous.
@quiet fern I like all your Challenge #5 results, specially the one in the middle, the man with the huge collar. That is just cool!
@lusty relic Good result on your challenge5 painting.
@lost helm I like the painterly look on your challenge 5 photos.
@slow totem Wow I like the effect on your portrait painting. Cool idea!
@worn field Thats the purpose of the exercise. To play with the neural filters and see what you come up with. Your design is very interesting. The idea of blackening out the skin tones and focusing on the clothing is a cool twist. The filter you used shows such good detail in the clothing and the collar. The little green purse is such a fun addition!!
thanks @halcyon current
I followed your observations, it looked great, and I also changed the color of the mask to get more contrast.
Voilá, my old painting !
This chat is dedicated to the Ps DCC process. Posts here should be for the current Challenge. If you have other posts for which you'd like comment or assistance, please post your image in one of the more appropriate tabs. I suggest you post in design-other, portfolio-reviews, or past-challenges.
The tweaks look great. Good job by you. Why did you eliminate the masking of the leaf behind the tree? I thought it added some good interest.
the result between the drop shadow and the mask, it wasn't very nice, there was a piece of shadow on the tree and I couldn't take it off
@turbid fiber I love your approach to the challenge. Very creative concept. You did a great job compositing the different images. Your brush strokes look great. The overall feel of the design has solid cohesiveness, a solid realism.
Many Thanks @eternal mica - you make my day. Tried to use various tools learned from @brittle slate. Had a lot of fun!
No one better than PT to learn from!!
So true, non-stoppable PT. 🙂

Challenge #05 - Portrait Painting - mix filter gallery & neural filter
01 Photo Polishing
Amazing work @eternal mica , really impressive. Love what you made to the colors 🙂
Love the tweak!!!
@bleak fossil Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.
@halcyon current Thank you.
Chalenge5
My first time doing something like this, Hope some of ya'll like it!!
Thanks you @halcyon current I really appreciate that!
Thanks @bleak fossil It is appreciated 🙂
Thanks @eternal mica I really appreciate that you like it 🙂 I loved the most how the polar bear turned out!
— Day 05 — Portrait Painting — Before/After
When I wrote the critique, I couldnt decide which I liked best. I kept changing my mind!! I really liked the polar bear and the lady on the right.
@bleak fossil My kids loved DBZ along with the Thunder Cats, so I got to watch them both anytime they were on lol 😎
Yes. This happens 😀 but so much fun
Had so much fun with the wet media brush and smudge tool 😛
Honestly, It Doesn't look bad!! 😂

Landscape Mixer
challenge #06 - Landscape mixer
Thanks @bleak fossil ! Truly appreciate your feedback 😀
Its telling me my Neural filters are unavailable when i try to download 😦
@brittle slate Thank you for all the nice challenges. I was intrigued by the question (can't remember who asked) in the live chat on todays show if it was able to apply Neural filters on selections and tested a couple of selections with different stiles on the very same image. The first five parts have 100% winter, spring, summer, autumn and sunset effect applied as well.
@old bolt I love the cockatoos you added to the text. They are just perfect.
I will play around with that, thank you Ted B.
I have it saved as a JPEG but I'm not sure if is saved as 12 or 11, I will look at that and try to post it. Thank you.
Thank you Anki.
Woah, this landscape mixer looks wicked
@rocky kite I really like your 2nd woman portrait for challenge 5. The smoothness of painting and the preservation of color as well.
Ai gonna take all our jobs soon
Challenge #6 - Landscape mixer. A photo of my own not far from where I live shot on aug.29th right in between summer and fall. I made it to a winter scene (2nd wintry photo + 100% winter effect) and I would say it absolutely could look like this if/when we get snow in the winter. I think that the filter did a great job in this case.

THIS THURSDAY AT 6:00pm EDT 23:00 GMT, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER CALL IN ON DISCORD CHAT FOR LIVE FEEDBACK ON DCC DESIGNS
😂 for a second I thought this was a discord scam 😂
Would I do such a thing???😜 😜 😜
Challenge 06: Landscape Mixer. I did 2 mixers. I wanted to bring some attraction to my mixer images: skeleton of a really founded mammoth and golden fishes, where I had to blend fishes with green color and blur the bg mixer image. And also I created a bubble brush. I can see I have to fix mammoth´s shadow, which I will do later.
Day6_PSDCC
Do not have neural filters as latest version of PS does not work and the filters have never worked but it was still a fun challenge using filter gallery
Again filter gallery gives some neat results
Tried using camera raw, plus color lookup and some painting.
Sky replacement helped with this and had fun.
Sky replacement plus paint - not quite what I wanted but gave it a go.
Thanks - yes will do.
Playing around with Neural filters for landscape DCC #5 you can do this non stop with endless different results 🙂
#challenge - Landscape Mixer - Before & After - Granite Links Golf Course 5 minutes from mah house - my own original photo … I extended the top canvas, replaced the sky, then neural filtered a desert theme reduced to 75% strength 😎👍🏼
@tardy talon Very interesting design for the Painting exercise. The cropping adds so much mystery and interest to the design. The filters and brush strokes look awesome. Beautiful work.
Thank you so much 😊
@dusky wave Looking at your last designs, they nave common color palette. Very interesting. The lion image looks great. The neural filters are applied in way that makes the design interesting but not weird. The touches of green really make it pop. Your landscape Mixer has lots of elements, yet the design ahs a nice cohesion. Well done.
@forest lion Welcome to the Ps DCC chat. We're happy youve decided to join in. If you need any help, give a shout out. We're here to help. Youre off to great start. Your Polishing design is well done. The After image skin tones are natural, clean crisp. Good job
No Landscape Mixer option 😕 what can I do for complete my challenge 06 @eternal mica
@rocky kite Very well done Portrait Painting designs. I like the first Lion design. It has more definition than the second one. And I like the second face for the same reason, though I think it could use a bit more brightness to create some contrast.
What version of Ps are you running?
Photoshop 2020
@crisp pier Well done Portrait Painting. You captured a lot of the skin highlights and shadows. The touch of green in the hair also looks cool. The one area I might play with is the darkness under the chin. I might try to recover some of that definition.
You wont be able to replicate the neural filter effect, but you can use a lot of layers, selecting, and masking to try to create interesting landscape designs. Just do your best. There are no rules.
@lean anvil Welcome. Youre off to a great start. Your painting portrait is great. You maintained a lot of the skin texture, the skin tone, and yet applied interesting filters. Good work by you.
No neural filter also but its okay Ted, I will try to create something good ,Thank you Ted 🙂 😊
@young karma Lovely interpretation of the Painting Portrait design. The color palette is perfect. The skin pops out of the image. The filter you applied gives the design a painted canvas vibe. My one tweak is Id make the BG a bit more contrast-y to the model.
@spare dust Nice work with the Portrait design. The brush strokes you added give a sinister look to the model. Leaving the eyes in the original format gives a bit of a spooky feel to the glare.
@old bolt Very lovely Auto Masking. The selection of the birds and the flowers is well done. The color shading you applied inside the text gives the text real contrast from the BG, and gives the whole design nice pop.
Interesting challenge, I learnt that filter gallery will be grayed out if the image is in a 16-bit or 32-bit channel, the image mode is CMYK instead of RGB or the selective layer is locked. I think that the neural filters are pretty fun to mess around with.
@hollow yarrow Youre up to your old tricks, posting right before lunch so PT would call out your designs!!! 😜 😜 😜 You didnt have to. These designs would have been called out no matter when you posted them. Youre first design reminds me of one you did for the DCC two series ago (I think) of a man floating up in an intense light. Here the pixie looks like its floating up. So cool. The creativity of the second is awesome. And your masking is impeccable. Great job by you.
@lethal prism I love these landscape design. The Covered Bridge is awesome. I have one tiny tweak. Theres a splash of green leaves that was missed on the left side of the bridge. You may want to tweak that. And one suggestion .... Sky Replacement???
@lucid plover Your Landscape Mixer adds good richness to the original image. The greens and the sky have much more depth. Good work.
@halcyon current, so youre saying you made selections all across the base image and applied different neural filters to each selection? Or did you cut and paste different neural filter applications of the same image? In ether case, the product is impressive. Good work by you.
@eternal mica Yes that’s what I did. No cut and paste. I like challenges and this was a one I couldn’t resist. Thank you for your feedback!
Great. If I finish the reviews tonight, Im going o give it a try.
@bleak fossil , thank you for your feedback!
@misty breach Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. happy to have you join in. I love that you repositioned the text in the Auto Masking design. Your text fill looks great. The masking of the flower is well done. I would make one tweak. I would have the stem of the flower be masked into something (a letter, a BG leaf) rather than just be in the middle of thin air.
@buoyant nova Someone had a Neural Filter Party today!! I really like the Filter Gallery effect. It keeps a lot of the natural look of the lion, yet adds so much texture. Very cool.
@lethal prism I would love to see the asset image for this design. The neural filters look great. And the filter you added gives the design the feeling that its a velum matte finish painting. Awesome.
@digital pike Solid work on the landscape Mixer designs. First, the original picture is beautiful. Its mind blowing how the neural filter transformed it into winter. The winter image is beautiful also!!! Its carzzzzy!!! Wonderful job by you.
@halcyon current The neural filter is incredible. The transition from summer to winter is super. I especially like the change in the color of the sky. It adds a lot of richness to the winter landscape.
I wasnt trying to actually make the image perfect. I was just showing that I played with what the challenge consisted of...
Challenge 5 - Not that good with the brushes... need some practice on that... lol
I added the "Tech Preview" with it so if that is looked at then you should be able to see the original image there...
Hello 👋
Thank you @eternal mica
Tried to make it as if the samurai was cutting away winter
🙏
just a suggestion, you should use the tilt shift in gallery blur to make depth of field
Excuse me good sir do you have a moment for our lord and savior Deer-God?
@oblique bolt Boy, did someone have a good time with the Neural Filters!!! You did a good job at showing how creative one can be with the filters. Your first and third design are very well done. The third one has a watercolor painting feel to it. Good work by you.
Challenge #6 (Sorry if the quality is a little low, Had to lower the size to be able to send it here)
The original
@dusky jewel @worn field If you'd like to participate in this chat, please stay focused on posting DCC related images and keeping your comments to the content in the chat.
@lusty relic Very nicely done. The filter did an amazing job on the landscape. You handled the change beautifully.
@lethal prism Nice interpretation of the flowers with the neural filters.
@wary swan Cool to see all the seasons in your series. You did a terrific job exhibiting how the Landscape Filter can be used to create completely different vibes. I like the Dry Summer and Winter ones the best. I wonder if Adobe Sensei can figure out how to get clothes on the people in the winter?
@haughty gale Youre diving headlong into the Neural Filters. Good for you. The winter image is really interesting, especially when we can see what the image started out as. Good work by you to attack the process.
@lost helm Stunning photography. Are they your pictures? I think, as Im going through these submissions, I find the winter ones are the most dramatic, as is yours here. Your sky replacements look great too.
@quiet fern Your image looks super. The photo is beautiful. I love the way you have the sky replacement impacting the rest of the image, although I think you can tone the effect back a little. I think I you might have pushed the orange tint a bit too far.
Thank Youuuuuuu 👍🏼😎🥰
@gaunt veldt Cool to see your different methodologies applied to get these effects. On the Filter, I wonder if you played with the original first to create more contrast in the image, how that would create more variation in the Filtered image?
@magic edge Super effort to present all these variations. Im thinking how amazing the Happy Face Filter is. I did the something similar last week, and ended up with teeth in face that didnt have any, just like here. Mind Blowing!!! The Neural Filter image is well done. Solid work all around.
Hello Chris. Thanks for joining @coral stone and me in our dry run. Take a walk through this chat. i think you'll get inspired. And you can watch a live stream of this Challenge tomorrow at Noon EST. Let me know if you have any questions.
will do thank you Ted!
@worn field Having the two seasons in one image is a cool idea. Im not sure the Samurai idea works though. It might be too subtle. And the character would need a lot more work to become believable in the design.
@lean anvil Very well done job on the Landscape Mixer. Adding snow is cool idea. I think the way you muffled the glow in the sky is especially well done. Good job by you.
@solar pike Welcome to our Ps DCC Discord chat. We're happy you joined the party. If you have any questions or need help with anything, feel free to give a shout. We're here to help. You did a nice job with the Landscape Mixer. I think you can intensify the contrast in your image and get an even more dramatic result.
Cheers, Ted! I actually did not use Landscape Mixer as my version does not support it. I Just selected the color range and added white to it.
Thanks for the info. Thats great. In Ps there are so many ways to skin a cat. Your way worked great here.
I just wanted to remind everyone, we are running a new program on Thursday evening 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM EST (23:00 GMT). @coral stone and I will be leading a Discord Video chat giving live feedback on the designs that have been posted in this DCC series. We'll be focusing on the submissions by people who sign in and participate in the live feed. You'll have an opportunity to discuss your own work. And we're hoping to have time for a Q&A where you can ask questions about Ps tools and techniques. It should be a lot of fun. Please join us.
Thank you Ted! The original has been tampered with to get the background more contrasted and I blurred everything around the plant to keep the focus more on the plant.
My bad. I didnt realize that. I was focused on the person. Maybe I would jack up the contrast between the plant and everything else. The more the contrast, the more the neural filter will emphasize it.
Yes, and the crazy is that those teeth could belong to that guys.... It is not just random ones apply to anybody!!
This is an other version of that image that I prefer but I did like the introduction to more features that ps offers.
Ps DCC 21-11 06 Landscape Mixer
@bleak fossil If you have time, I posted these since the last critique. I'd love to get your thoughts.
Love that golden feel in the sky
Try the neural filter on this version and see how it looks.
Good night everyone. See you all in the morning.🛌🏻 😴 🛌🏻
I'm a bit behind but had fun painting this guy!
Most things work for me because when I bought my computer I bumped up the memory and gave it a little zhush, however my computer is old like 2015. The neural filters are stalling it out. Im pretty sure it's the processor. I need someone to help me geek out on processor/memory talk. If you are really good at that, can you message me on the side? Many thanks, friends!
Thanks - however did not use neural filters as they do not work. Just did camera raw and brush paint work using Kyle Websters brushes.
Have tried to make the text stand out but perhaps the next image is better.
Thanks to all who click on my efforts - you are really supportive. Wish you were with me in my real work. Your positivity makes a very big difference. I hope you all acheive success.
Thanks Ted I will post something tomorrow morning... I finished my landscape mixer challenge but I have to go to bed now. I will review my pieces with fresh eyes tomorrow morning and post them earlier (I'll try)😉 . I hope to be able to join you for the review on discord 🤞 It's such a great idea!👍
@eternal mica These are looking solid, Ted! I really like the combination of the pink motion blur around the figure with the radial background gradient. Both have a really nice sense of motion. The gradient map has some nice contrast to really make it pop, and it has a cool sort of icy look to it. The landscape effect is looking really neat too, though I feel like perhaps the lighting could be tweaked a bit. I think with the sun in that position, the background tree line seems like it might be a bit brighter/more faded, and possibly even have an orange cast to it. In contrast to that, I feel like the waterfalls seem a bit bright in comparison. But maybe the waterfalls are fine, and the trees could just use some subtle brightening? Here's a couple shots of the same area at more of a sunset hour, though they're likely edited themselves.
@copper moss That's funny, I saw a 3D model of a mammoth just a few hours ago that the Smithsonian put out, very cool! The landscapes have a great look to them, and the colors between the mammoth and landscape fit together very well. I agree the shadow could use some tweaking, perhaps darkening it down a touch, mostly near the feet could help. The fish image and colors look really nice too, the blur of the background really helps them stay in focus. Very cool to see you created a brush for the bubbles, nice work!
@dusky jewel Hah, that's always a good way to design. I really like the glowing eyes and massive sense of scale. The colors fit together really well too. My only suggestion might be to add a bit of fade towards the bottom of the deer's neck where it meets the mountains so that the value contrast is around the same level for more realistic depth. You could either fade the mask or lighten it up with a soft brush and a screen layer. Just a minor thought, of course. Looks good!
@worn field Really cool take on this challenge! The dramatic color contrast makes for a really neat look, and the continuity of the two images makes for a nice effect. I kind of wonder if an arching shape , maybe even with a motion "trail" coming off the blade could help sell the slashing effect more? Just an idea, but not 100% what that would look like. Nice work!
@lethal prism Very nice stylization, I especially like what you did with the colors in the second step. It gives it a bit of a vintage feel, and the added filters and textures in the final version really help push that artistic look. Nicely done!
@magic edge Very nice job experimenting around with all these different effects! The neural filter actually did a really nice job with the happy face effect, that can often be a bit hit or miss with the realism. I also really like the style of the bottom left neural filter and the brush effect looks really neat! Really interesting texture to that one.
@gaunt veldt There's definitely some really interesting effects and variety that can be achieved with neural filters, always interesting to see it get more advanced. Nice work with all these different effects 👍
@quiet fern This is a great photo, did you take it? Really cool effect, it's always interesting how much these can transform an image. The sky replacement with the extended canvas is a great addition to the image too, nice work!
@lost helm Definitely! I think this feature is the one that interested me most at Adobe MAX, the possibilities for transforming a landscape are pretty vast. Nice job experimenting with different images, I especially like the sky in the last image. Looks good!
@haughty gale Really nice work on all these designs! I especially like the effect you got in the second image of the man in the collar. Some really nice texture in that one. The landscapes are looking good too! I understand your version of Photoshop doesn't have Neural Filters, but none of the filter effects work for you? Do you get an error, or does nothing happen? These designs are looking good!
@tropic haven These look great! It's really interesting to see the color palette changes between each one, and how intense the sunset is in some of these. The changes in the texture of the ground is really interesting as well. Nice work!
@eternal mica Oooh, cool idea! Do you know how long the Discord chat might be? I'll try and pop in if it's long enough (I'll be busy when it begins) to check it out.
@wary swan Really nice variety in styles between all these images! Also great to see you using your own photos for this challenge. My only suggestion might be adding in some photo filters/color balance/something to adjust the lighting and coloration of the people in the scene for the images with the more drastically different colors like the sunset and winter images. Nice work!
@haughty gale Loving the text effect on this latest design! The color of the text fits the color palette of the background image very nicely. I think the second design reads better at a glance, but I really love the texture of the first design. It also has a nice sense of dimension with the beveled look. Looks good!
@tacit mortar I felt that it would add to the work. I tried to balance out the car speed with the kissing couple's silhouette.
@winter tinsel I like that you experimented with a few different methods for this image. There's some nice variety between them, and I like the texture and softness you got with the painted version. Nicely done!
@eternal mica The portrait images are looking good too, nice variety of effects with these three designs. The first one has an especially strong traditional art look to it. Kind of a pastel feel. My only critique is it kind of looks like the green of the iris is overlapping the eyelid, which makes the effect look a bit off. I think perhaps the shape needs to be a touch smaller, or the top may need to be masked off slightly. Nice job!
@lean anvil This looks really nice! The more lush green grass has a really natural and convincing look to it. This is a bit of a nitpick, but the coloration on the hiker just looks sliiiightly off to me. I'd try playing with a color balance adjustment layer masked to the hiker directly. Maybe even just a super subtle tint of green might make the effect look more real as if there was bounced light from the environment on the figure. Again, that's a really minor note. Nice job!
@solar pike That looks great! It's not too dramatic, but adds some great color contrast, and the exposure of the background looks much better in my opinion. Really nice lighting, and some nice warm/cool contrasts going on. The only thing that might look a little out of place is the texture of the water on the right hand side. But that's a bit of a nitpick. Nicely done.
Thanks for your support. If you could pop in, even for a few minutes, it would mean the world to @coral stone and me.
6:00-7:00pm EST. Please pop in for however long you can. Having your support would be awesome!!!
@haughty gale I really like this version. The painterly look on the text are perfect and the colours are gorgeous. Well done 👍
@eternal mica Thank you for your supportive feedback! I appreciate it very much!
@eternal mica I really like the style on the text in this one. It's also very nice to see your creations in addition to all the feedback you give to our creations. Very nice job. I wish I was as good with the supportive words as you are 🙂
Texts etc #4 colorful and bright. The earth is full of natural art 🙂
Thank you, Sam. 😃
Another one for Challenge#6. Sorry if the quality is a little low, I had to reduce the size from 60MB to 8.

@lean anvil - This looks great !!
Cheers!

Yes I belive, thanks @bleak fossil
Thank you @eternal mica i wih they were mine but are from adobe stock 👍
#4 Challenge. I love masks and texts. It was the first thing I learned on Photoshop back in the days of 8 or 9. Now if I could only get the error messages to stop popping up.
It took me a minute to figure out the best way to use the landscape mixer. Not my favorite, but turned out kind of cool, I think.
Thanks for the feedback Ted, I have not edit the photo so that what com out of the camera that day
I did improved the shadow. I think it cannot be darker than the shadow on the image, right? "The Smithsonian has embarked on a program to digitize and post items online using 3D technology." I did not know and checked it. I tweaked light on the second image using Levels. Thanks, Sam! 🌼
Thanks Ted. Agree, the Filter Gallery is my favourite
Thank you @eternal mica for your feedback. 🙂

I posted earlier today just for you @eternal mica ...😉
No, I'm just kidding... I will be out today for PSDCC so I won't be able to post just before😝
Before - Troodos Mountains - Cyprus
You probably ate an early lunch!!!
I hope you can join in for some portion of the Live Feedback tomorrow. Id love for you to participate. Your support would mean so much.
PSdcc #6 Original photos and Imaginary landscape, work in progress, not sure about the flying tulip 😉 any suggestions ?
I'll try my best to pop in but I cannot promise.
Anyway you have all my support! As I said this is such a great idea!
I understand fully. Thank you.
Nice landscape mix!
Thanks Franck @hollow yarrow

My entry for day 6
i used sky replacement and then sunset neural filter. My ps was freaking out using this. it shouldn't.
I used neural filters to change the seasons for this scene near Lake George, CO.
thanks!
thanks! On my file, the eyelashes are crisp and defined. I liked the glow of the neon. I played with the style until it sang to me. 😄
That bottom right one is GORGEOUS! 👍🏼😎🥰
my own pattern creation, inspired by todays Photoshop challenge. These are just different variations of something like my logo and the website link between...
awesome images
Took me five seconds to break pattern preview. And Photoshop. Trying to restart but Photoshop is refusing to close. Performing manual shutdown now….
It’s an M1 Mac Book, so I doubt that’s the issue. Any ideas?
Besides tech gremlins.
@hushed spade I have the last intel macbook pro if that helps...
pres command option and esc
and search photoshop in the list and try the force quit feature, if that is possible
I have to write down that shortcut. Thanks.
You dont need the short cut, Just press the apple icon at the top left of your screen, Click Force quit, Then you'll see this screen. Just select PS and click force quit.
Here's my final pattern. Decided to go monochromatic.
And here's a wallpaper pattern that's in my bathroom.
@brittle slate It looks like you took a screen shot of todays shirt and added a color overlay!!!
Tomorrow 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM EST (23:00-24:00 GMT) Be there. Join the party!!!
@eternal mica I'd love to but it's midnight here in Sweden... but you can't get a time that works for everyone. Sorry to miss all the tips n trix though
@halcyon current It is so kind of you to express support. Yes, it is impractical to schedule a time that works around the globe. I will hope to have your works reviewed, and then report back to you (from my failing memory) what was discussed.
@eternal mica I'm looking forward to that report 😁
@eternal mica little confused about the timing on that event. Is in about 4 hours or in 28 🙂 sorry my converter says in four hour but for my that is Wednesday 🙂
- It is tomorrow at 23:00 GMT. Where are you located?
@eternal mica MEZ
Iceland on GMT, so Good it is tomorrow 🙂 Thanks

i think this is a better channel to put this in
yes its a literal dot yes i am goin g to try and win that challange i dont even know how it works with a 1 pixel dot
there's always something that is too much or not enough when i do patterns. lol
@young karma If you're serious about the challenge, I will be happy to help you. If you're not, please respect all the people in this chat who are. Thank you.
Challenge 7 : Patterns. Was thinking about little boys wall paper when I made this one.
The colors work well together. It may be throwing you off where some of the characters are titled and others aren't. But in terms of too much or too little I don't mind it at all.
Thanks so much! You are so kind to say that. That one is a favorite of mine too.
Thanks so much. It was a fun project to work on. Thank you for your kind words.
how did you post this with it showing the pattern view?
thanks! i just want to keep messing with it over and over lol
here it is with the whole pattern
I used the screen shot app on my computer and took a screen shot of it.
i just did too 😀
Tweaking todays challenge
Why is my "define brush preset" unavailable? I've followed the directions in the help, I've tried rasterized and smart objects, different ways of selecting.....
Hey, I am new and I can't find the challenge. Can someone say me what to do?
Here you find the Challenge on Behance @wild sundial . You can replay any of them from that site. 🙂
Making a pattern DCC#7. I really would like to learn to mockup. Only used mask to lay it over t-shirts 🙂 I am here to learn 🙂
@quiet fern Very nice patterns for the challenge, specially the one with the purple and green leaves. Very gentle and soft. Well done!
Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge#07
@lost helm I love the pattern in the top row. The colors and the different sizes works very well together. Well done!
Thanks @halcyon current Yes I like those better also 😄
@lethal prism Very cute pattern with colors that works good together!
Color fill in this pattern is made from photos of my dried watercolor wells.
No time for masking today. Would like to know how to have a truer color while keeping the contours of the clothing. Seems like Val did one like that...using gradients that you export and then apply the pattern to somehow?
What do y'all think of this pattern?
same question as previous. How would you improve these patterns?
Why do my colors always look dull and dark when I upload my images?
@hushed spade Such a lovely and vibrant pattern! It worked very nice on the clothing too. Well done!
@digital pike Nice pattern but I think that the red color is a bit too colorful, at least in my eyes, as it's hard for my eyes to watch at it.
@forest lion I love the result of your AutoMasking. The colors are lovely and they makes the text really pop out from the image.
Just curious if this will be any lighter. Used a Hue/Saturation/Lightness adjustment layer.
Day 05 - Portrait Painting
DCC 05 Portrait Painting - This was a fun challenge! These are using the blender brush technique and blending modes.
DCC 05 Portrait Painting - These were using Neural Filters, style replace, etc. Those tools are so cool.

Thanks - non of the neural filters or the new photoshop work. The tec made an appointment to ring me and then never did. It could just be I have an older computer. Thank you for looking at my work. Much appreciated.
Thank you.
My pattern used color lookup. I know there is a way to place the pattern on clothing using a displacement map but I cannot remember how to do it - sigh!

i'm with you. i'm into sublimation also and would like to learn how to mock up my items before printing them.
Filter and Neural Gallery. I'm loving this challenge idea. Wished i had learned about it a while back. But better late than never.
Couldn't do too many tests here as the Neural Filter for landscaping kept crashing on me... It said that was temporarily disabled... don't know, but here is what I could... 😦
Are you from Chile isn't it?
No, Argentina, but I live in US. This picture was taken in Mendoza, Termas de Cacheuta - which are hot spring waters that come from the mountains... great place to relax...
Oh! I'm from Argentina too, I thought you might use cacheuta due tourism
Where in Arg?
Mendoza
@tired turret Good work on the T&T exercise. The font you used for EARTH makes it obvious what the focal point of the image is. I think I might scale down the masking of the second line of text a little bit so that the leaves dont hide so much of the text. Even though the reader knows what it says, its a bit too difficult.
@lean anvil Interesting Landscape Mixer. It has a good sense of realism. Youve done a good job with this exercise.
@chilly hawk Good work on your T&T design. The text fill is done very well. The drop shadow looks good. The text has a nice bold clear look to it. The additional leaves are a nice touch that adds a sense of motion.
@tropic garnet Very creative application of the Landscape Mixer filter. Im not even sure which of the filters you used. The vortex in the sky is a great touch. Good job by you.
Thanks. I can’t remember what one I used either. I know I set the filter on a divide blend mode and the layer on color burn (if I’m remembering correctly). I also attached the content credentials, but I don’t know how that works if you import the file into Lightroom afterwards.
@lapis niche Thats a heck of a start!! Welcome to the Ps DCC Discord chat. If you need help, give a shout. We're here to help. Very Nice composite. Id like to give you a heads up. The designs that are posted here are for the DCC series we are working on. Youre more than welcome to create designs for that and post them here. To post general designs, you can try one of the other tabs on the left.
@void fractal Lovely work on the Auto Masking design. The Text fill looks great. The masking of the flowers is well done. I might suggest scaling down the yellow flower a bit to allow more of the L to show.
Wanted to apply this to fabric but dont know how to. Fun daily challenge!
@hollow yarrow Cool job with the Landscape GIF. Its always interesting to the see variations of the same photograph, especially in a GIF format.
@buoyant nova The landscape mixer is well done. You pushed the strength on the winter all the way. Teh Adobe Sensei took aver and really changed the whole vibe of the image. Good work by you.
challenge 5 portrait with brush
challenge 5 portrait with mixer brush
challenge 5 portrait with neural filter / style transfer / van Gogh style
@queen dew Close Encounters of the Third Kind!!! Your flying tulip gives off the impression that its an alien object focusing only on the water on earth. Cool. I might sell the image more by adding some orange reflective glow on the mountains and the shore.
@drifting inlet Beautiful job enhancing the landscape photo with the mixer filter. The purplish glow gives off a sense of a sunrise or a sunset. I might suggest a curves/levels adjustment layer to enhance the contrast.
@tardy talon Nice composite and sky replacement. The sky looks very natural.
Thank you so much 😊
@peak sentinel Nice work on these two designs. The T&T design is well done. I think you could have used some of the text fill in the center letters in all the letters of Nature. And maybe a bit stronger stroke. The Gradient looks cool. The slight sense of motion you created works well.
Thanks for the feedback Ted, much appreciated
@gaunt wagon Very interesting interpretation of the Auto Masking Tool. The texture you added gives the image the look like its painted onto a concrete BG. Nice work masking the flowers. Nice Gradient design. The offset Diamond Gradient creates a good sense of motion.
@blazing quail Very nice sky replacement/landscape mixer design. The coloration of the whole design definitely picks up the sunset lighting.
@worn venture These new toys Adobe is adding definitely eat up computer power. The app is not just adding a stroke to a rectangle. It goes through all sorts of calculation with each neural filter. Nice work anyway. I might add a bit more of the glow effect especially to the mountains.
@low garnet Beautiful photos. Are they yours? You did a cool job with the Landscape Mixers. One suggestion Id make is to try get the lighting in these transformations to jive. I think the light in the top design is bit off. There seems to be a faint light behind the mountain, yet the grass is very bright. And in the second one, the sun is higher in the sky, but the grass is dark. Its something that takes a while to adjust to,. Keep it up. You'll get it.
@edgy herald Very creative approach to the pattern challenge. Its always interesting to see how slight modifications in an object create a whole different look. What does your company name mean?
@digital pike I love this color palette. The image has a bright childlike vibe. This would make great wall art in a kindergarten class. Your use of the gradient for the BG really adds good cohesion to the design.
@forest lion Lovely Auto Masking work. I kept having The Beatles All You Need is Love run through my head looking at this. The tricolor effect is awesome. The masking is well done. And your work on the BG really is terrific. It allows the focal point of the image to stand out.
@worn venture Lovely color palette for this design. And I think you have enough shadow art. Im sure when you had it in Pattern Preview mode, the screen was very crowded.
@dull lava Definitely agree with that. It is just that kind of design. You monochromatic approach to the objects is well done. Theres a nice balance between light and dark images.
@quiet ridge Nice design for the Landscape Mixer. I like the orange sunset feel. I think you could lower the highlights on the cow to better sell the idea that its sunset. After all, the original has the cow in bright sunshine. On the winter design, the cow could use a bit of the winter look. It looks too digital now. And the light on the cow is too bright. It doesnt fit with the lower intensity light of the snowy BG. Your Pattern design is lovely. i think it will look very nice as a pattern.
@quiet fern Nice job with the patterns, and applying them as fill on these texts. The brush you created is lovely. I could see you using this a lot in the future. I think it would look better against a darker BG rather than the light green you have.
@lethal prism Your pattern definitely can be a little child's wallpaper!! The colors are lovely, the shapes are lively, the feel so happy. Great job by you.

@tardy talon Lovely lovely lovely pattern. The color palette is great. The shadow fern leaf adds so much character to the design. This really captured the essence of Paul's exercise. Very well done by you.
Thank you @eternal mica I was trying to get the landscape mixer done before the challenge started today, so I did rush it a bit
@hushed spade Great color scheme. Did you make up the brushes for the flowers? The bright green really makes this design pop. Very good work by you.
@quiet ridge Thats ok. I get it. I think if I went back and reviewed the hundreds of critiques Ive gotten from Sam over the past 20 months, the one he hits me with the most is to make sure the lighting is consistent. Ive learned from him how important that is to selling an image. When its off, the whole image looks off. I know its a small thing. But if you really want to take your work to the next level, ALWAYS make sure the lighting works.
I just posted VDV Distort>Displacement map a few comments up. And I also put Sam's approach to the same issue. Watch them both and you'll see the solution youre looking for
@eternal mica don't get me wrong I love getting input on all the works I do from everyone here. No one can get any better if they don't get some out side input
Thank you so much Ted😊
@upper trail Lovely Portrait Painting. Id love to see the original image to see how you captured the color and feel of the original.
@spark ledge Let me guess. You LOVE to paint!!!! You did an amazing job with each of these. They have a different character and feel. Im definitely no painter but I found one thing a bit strange on the paintings. In the 4th and 5th paintings, I felt the brush strokes came off as if it was a beard. Again, take it with a grain of salt. Painting is not my expertise.
@lethal prism Lovely bright happy childlike pattern design. It looks awesome. Well done
@coral cloak Nice pattern work. There are interesting shapes, nice colors to the pattern. Its fun to crossover from Ai to Ps or vice versa.
@gaunt veldt Good work to combine the seasons on one BG. You did a good job piecing them together seamlessly. Im not sure I get the purple dots.
@leaden idol Very solid job on the painting portrait. It would be nice to see the original so we could evaluate your painting more effectively.
@full marsh HAHA you really created a fun image here. The liquify looks hysterical. Fun piece!!
Rosie, the Neural Filters and the other newer innovations in Ps take a lot of computing power. If youre working on an older machine, youre probably not going to get the effects to work very well, if at all.
Look up to the responses I gave to a couple of people who asked the same question. There were two recent DCC sessions on this subject.
@forest lion Cool work with the Gradient challenge. I like the color palette you used and the cohesion to the design. I must say its a bit like looking at an optical illusion!!
@full marsh Your Neural Filter paintings are well done. They each capture the highlights and shadows of the original very nicely. Good work.
@magic edge As I pointed out to some others, the new Ps techniques eat up computing power. If youre working with an older machine expect hiccups. Your frts image looks good. The second one I would say needs work to make the lighting consistent. But I understand why you couldnt make that work.
@full marsh Im not sure what the yellow streak across the sky is in your design. I think I like the lighter text fill version. Its easier to read. The darker one is a bit difficult.
Scroll up and youll find two challenges we did recently on making a pattern fit clothing.
@worn field Very nice pattern. The flowers looks great. Theres wonderful symmetry to your design. And theres cohesion in the colors. Good work by you.
@hearty quiver Very well done painting portrait exercise. I really like the first and third ones.
REMINDER
Good night friends.
Thanks, the first one I had to really work hard as I had to try different brushes and colors to match the actual picture. Personally this gave me the most satisfaction. Second and third were almost automatic and I have no particular attachment to them , though they are probably better.
haha the purple dots. Those puppies I wanted to be more neon and have more of a bokeh feel but I lost direction.
#challenge7 #newdesigner
I lightened it right after I looked at it after dropping it in the chat. Great minds... 😉 I like the green and I'm hoping it can be seen better now. Trying to catch up from all my technical delays. Thanks for the feedback! I always look forward to your input.
@full marsh Well done, I really like the blue of the text in the top design. It fits that sky motif nicely and has a nice contrast against the background. Really cool styles in the portrait challenge too 👍
@magic edge Nice work, the neural filter makes for a really cool and convincing effect. Interesting to see the effect it has on the people in the scene. Did you get the "temporarily disabled" error after a few crashes? The sky replacement is looking really good too, though It might help to darken down the landscape a touch and maybe even give it a bit more of a coloration adjustment to fit in with the sky. Looks good!
@forest lion Nice job with the gradient effect! The subtle coloration of the figure and the bold contrast between the light and dark tones makes for a nice focal point against the darker background.
@haughty gale Yeah, some of the newer elements in Photoshop can sometimes be fairly resource intensive. You could always compare your system specs to this information to see if that might be the case. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html
Also, nice work on the pattern! I like the boldness of the red in the center of the design, and really cool to see this in mock up form as well. Looks good!
@eternal mica Great to see this presentation that shows the original pattern, the applied pattern, and the original cloth. Really nice job on the masking for all the different elements. The only thing that stands out to me is that there seems to be a noticeable hard line/seam where the pattern seems to have a hard cut off point. Not sure if you used pattern preview but that's a good way to get a seamless look by overlapping the edges of the images. Nice job!
@leaden idol Cool texture! The face especially has a great painted look to it. I like the sharpness in the face to give it a nice focus too.
@digital pike Very nice job with the masking and creating all these solid shapes! The color palette works well between these 3 colors too.
@gaunt veldt Really cool effect with the split image and the book! There's some great color and contrast variety between these and they all have a convincing look to them. Very nice!
Merci! 🙂
@coral cloak Neat idea, this makes for a nice pattern! I like all these little illustrations. It might be interesting to also see a variation with a background color that isn't so close to the brown design elements, since right now the blue bear has a really strong dominant contrast. Nice work!
@lethal prism Really nice layering in this pattern! The dark green shapes add some nice depth to the background but still give a strong contrast to all the top designs. Really nice job with the masking and cool color palette!
@spark ledge Really excellent variety of colors and textures with these! Really nice to see how much you experimented with different styles. I especially like the first, and last 2 versions of the first image design. Nicely done!
@upper trail Really cool style! I like the strong silhouette and the strong color contrast between the warm and blue colors. Great texture as well. 👍
@hushed spade Ooh, I love the composition in this pattern and balance between the shapes! The flamingos make for a nice focus and the leaves balance it out nicely. I also like the way you overlapped some of the shapes. If anything, perhaps it could use a slight brightness boost. What blending mode are you using in the mock ups? You could always create some adjustment layers to fine tune the pattern after the fact. A levels adjustment is often great for fine tuning the contrast in this way. I also really love the colorful floral designs you created. Really nice illustrated look to it. Very nice job!
@tardy talon Really nice job with the pattern! There's a nice contrast between the colors in this design. I like the subtle contrast and texture of the blue leaves in the background, it's a nice added element of depth. Looks good!
@lost helm These patterns are excellent! There's a really nice visual balance to them, and the colors work nicely together. Nice job masking all these shapes too. I would try playing around with some different blending modes to find some that work well with the mock up image you're using. You could always create some adjustment layers for the shirt (such as a levels adjustment) to tweak the contrast if need be too.
@tired turret Really cool style to this text! I like the pop of color from the leaves, and the stroke around the "Earth" text repeats that color in a nice way. I wonder if the same stroke around the "is art" text might be nice to unify them a bit more? I really like what you did with the leaves masked around the text, but I think having a hard edge on the leaves as opposed to a slightly soft edge might be more realistic looking. If you wanted to even take it a step further you could add a subtle ambient occlusion shadow where the leaves overlap the text. I like to do this with a multiply layer and a soft round brush. Just some thoughts of course. Nice work!
@eternal mica this is the URL to my website, wich not really is a company name. I didn't have the chance to set a name for this...
Thanks Sam! I am going to give the shadowing a try again. It was playing havoc with the stroke and looked funny but I think mostly I was frustrated. You said hard edge on the leaves? Are we talking where they meet the text or in general? I'm assuming where it meets the text. I'll give it a try and see what comes up. Everyone's feedback is so helpful to see things in different ways. It's the best part of the challenges, IMO.
I love this filter and hardly ever use it. I wasn't fond of what it did to the background so I eliminated the background by blurring and adding a gradient behind it. Thoughts anyone?
@tired turret Specifically where you masked the areas of the leaves where they meet the text. It looks like you may have used a slightly soft brush but i think a hard edged brush might look more realistic.
Oh! Yes I did. I see what you mean. Giving it an edge. Lets see what it looks like!
Thanks Sam, Ill give it a try
So I like it. Looks far more like I was imagining it then before.
Cheers, Ted!
Thanks Ted. The stretch of water that you can see is where the water goes from the other photo I did, with the little bridge and stream.
Challenge Seven
Challenge 07: Perfect Pattern and Brush. I did a plant and sword brushes and used it in the composition. To me Trani is a very interesting and solid designer. I used for texture rusted image bring it by using Channels. In the second image it is a plain design with brushes, type and bg. Here can be used washed out effect in addition. In the third I did a pattern and used in a business card mockup for a nature preserver person. I just wanted to show them in real life apps.

Great job! I like how you used the diamond gradient for the background and the subtle gradient map on the subject gives a nice effect. Liquify filter adds a nice dynamic feeling too. Well done!👍
Nice pattern Susan and the displacement map does the job. Looks realistic!👍
Thank you very much for the feedback!
Thanks Franck, much appreciated
So cute! Your beautiful pattern fits well on this baby T-shirt. If I had to nitpick you should offset your patterns on the sleeves... It will add realism... Anyway you did a great job!👍

You can download these 3 patterns I made for Day7 challenge.
It's 100% Free to use.
And here is how I used this homemade Musical Pattern.
So kind!!!
Neat animation. The colors are complimentary. I really like the light colored of the text. It stands out. The ombre of nature is fun, it blends it into your background but yet readable.
Color Harmonization!
Thank you Sam for the feedback! Especially with the nueral filters apply style I feel like you could keep going forever with variations!
Thanks Franck, really love to make patterns!
Thank you Ted for the feedback. I actually don't particularly like to paint, but love how these filter options (especially the neural filters - apply style!) give you SO MANY options to experiment with color and texture, which I do really love.
#7 Didn't really know what i was going to do, So it looks kinda random. I think it looks kinda good but Yeah.
cool result 👍
PS DCC #8. I actually had it half done as I followed Pauls Masterclass few days ago, but today I got that I was missing to finish it up. Hope that you like it 🙂
No, the flowers aren't brushes, just shapes filled with the photo from my watercolors. My "define custom brush" option has been grayed out, though I've used it before. Any ideas??
I really like this one! good job!
ty. i didn't continue to tweak it because it was acting so weird. (leaving parts of the picture before the neural filter is applied)
And thank you for the kind words.
Thanks, Ted! I have them pinned to watch later!
Thanks @bleak fossil I will give it a go!!
Thanks you so much @eternal mica I will give it a try. Thanks that is awesome to get those URL for my!!
My attempt at a PS pattern 🤦♀️
@eternal mica thanks for all your suggestions. I appreciate it.
Thanks for the helpful feedback, Sam! With the flamingo pattern it was fun to just arrange it intuitively, rather than attempting to be "logical," so I'm glad it worked out this time. My images always appear darker in Discord. Any ideas why? I'm using screenshots. You asked about the blending mode on the mock-ups. Both happen to be linear light on the pattern overlay. I like your suggestion to try a levels adjustment.
i've noticed that my posts are darker on discord and behance as well.
Glad to know I'm not alone. Do you export as something, or use screenshots?
#7. My version doesn't support neural filters, So i had to play around with some stuff. I think it came out alright, Hope you like it!!
i think when i do either way it is darker.
Thanks for the comment, much appreciated👍
Fantastic. Did you see url that Ted shaered with me? Something to learn from 😀
How do I make her clothes white? I'm sure it's easy, but I can't come up with it.
Select the clothing, Make a new layer, Colour the selection on the new layer. Change the blending mode to color.
Heyyy no I didn’t, can you please share

Thank you much
This is a great example of harmonization too.
You may have done better if you overlayed the rhino with a blue or grey color and dulled it down some.
since the neural filters wouldn't work, I used curves on the background and hue and saturation filters for all of the animals.
Thanks Andri!
Revisited after going through the old Challenges @eternal mica Need to practise more on it and different method. But now looks much better 🙂 Thanks again!!
LOVE this!!! 😉

@bleak fossil Ps DCC 21-11 08 Color Transfer V2
Hi y'all. Here is my landscape mixer. Did I misunderstand the challenge? Exhausted but I want to finish the challenges! Thanks!
@hollow yarrow These look great! Loving the color variation and great presentation of all the designs. The mock up images came out really well too, very nice work!
@spice shoal Hah, perfect! With that lighting I feel like he's about to start teaching us photoshop. The texture has a nice effect to it, and the lighting gives it some really fun contrast. 👍
@eternal mica Digging the design variations! The first one has a really cool alien feel to it. I really like all the compositing in the second design. One minor note, is the perspective seems to not match with the background building since that appears to have a lower angle, where as we see the top of the rock bridge. Just something worth noting. It also could be worth giving the background a subtle blur, to give focus to the foreground and see if it gives the image some nice depth. Just some general thoughts. Really nice job with the masking and compositing!
@quiet ridge The color transfer definitely adds some really nice unity to the image! Nice job with masking and placing all these animals. One suggestion would be to equalize the contrast a bit. Typically when objects move back in space we see more of the effect of atmospheric perspective like in the trees of this image. This most heavily affects the dark tones which get lighter and therefore have less contrast the further back they go. Currently the ostrich, zebra, and deer-like creature on the left appear to have deeper darks and more contrast than the elephant and giraffe. Matching those together a bit more closely might help sell the realism even more. A minor note but I figured it was worth mentioning. Looks good!
@quiet fern Very nice work! These are looking good, the harmonization on the second image really helps fit them in the picture. Small note on the first design, the elephant's placement on the ground makes it appear as if it's really large and very far away. For a more realistic scale compared to the giraffe, it might help to either make the elephant smaller, or move it down so where it's standing on the ground plane is closer to the giraffe. Nice job with these!
@simple idol Hey Biola! The challenge was to use the Landscape Mixer neural filter to change up a landscape, though it's hard to say without the original image to compare. But the lighting and everything is looking really solid and uniform, though I think the bird could use a little boost in brightness. Nice job!
@tired turret Very nice! The image has a convincing frosty look to it with all the cool tones. The text fits the color palette and feel of the image nicely.
@eternal mica How'd the feedback session go? Sorry I couldn't stop by, was moderating Adobe Live at the time.
@worn field Ooh, cool style to this one, reminds me of the Left 4 Dead game cover. The green and red give it an interesting bold look. The almost pixelated look kind of makes it feel like it could be a video game cover too. Nice job!
Thanks Sam! I'm starting to look at the tiny details now after the last few months of feedback. It's amazing how much I've picked up from just this chat.
Thank you! Yes I wanted a very surreal BIG elephant on purpose 😁👍🏼😎🥰
@coral cloak Nicely done, the deer fit the environment nicely. Though I think perhaps a slight brightness boost might help? Also really great job fitting the hooves into the environment in a convincing way. Looks good!
@lost helm This pattern came out really nicely! I like the variety in sizes and colors. The mock up on the shirt is looking good as well, and the background color contrasts the design well.
Thanks Sam. I just couldn’t get it to look right for me. I think it had to do with the focal points on each photo. I do t know it just didn’t look right.
@wary swan Nice work with masking all these different elements. Trees can be tricky, did you try the Refine Edge Brush tool on the white areas between the branches? If that doesn't work Blend If can also be a great tool for objects like that. You can see a video that shows this method around 7 minutes and 40 seconds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAMXBYx0r5g
Nice work!
@digital pike Nice job masking and placing all these different animals into the scene! The color and lighting fits them all quite nicely. I think perhaps the rhino could be a bit bigger, and the zebra and deer-like creature in the far background could be a touch smaller for more realistic scale. That and it might look nice to add a subtle drop shadow under the animals on the sand to really set them in the scene. Looks good!
@lusty relic Ooh, cool to style to this design! I really like how you made the flamingo stand on the elephant and all these elements fit together nicely. My only minor suggestion might be to increase the contrast (specifically the dark tones) of the giraffe to better match the elephant, it almost looks a touch washed out comparatively. Very nice work!
@worn venture Very nicely done! Too bad the neural filters aren't working for you, the harmonization can really make life easier with these adjustments, hah. But it's good practice to get an eye for doing it manually too. I feel like you could probably even darken the animation down a touch more, maybe even mostly just towards the legs and bottom half of the zebra and giraffe since they're in an environment and lighting with much less bounced light. Looks good!
@dusky wave Challenge 7 and 8 are looking really nice! All the elements on Challenge 8 are matching really well and look like they fit together. If you wanted to push it any further some cast shadow on the ground beneath and animals might make for an even more realistic look. Nice work!
Perfect patterns: Challenge 7
@bleak fossil
Thanks for your feedback Sam, to be honest I notice the white and I did nothing to that. 🙃
Wow! Colors are really well harmonized. If I had to nitpick I would suggest you to add shadow on the ground below the giraffe (based on shadows of the landscape)... but I really nitpick 'cause you made a great piece!👍

#challenge 4 Type and Textures
The format is definitely conducive to the concept. @coral stone was awesome. We had about 10 attendees, which isnt bad for a first run. The attendees seemed to enjoy it and most stuck around. We had good exchanges with them. We had one small technical hiccup on double screen sharing. (We figured it out after the session.) Trying to be objective as possible, all in all, I thought it went very well. Thank you so much for asking about it.
Good point. Is there a way I can fix that perspective. Will the Transform>Perspective applied to the whole BG work? (Obviously, I took the building picture from the ground looking up. The BG picture is more of a head on shot.)
Challenge 8 Color Harmonization
Hows this, just as it relates to perspective and blur.
The blur on the rocks at the bottom third of the picture seems to be a little much but other than that it's great!
Thanks for the comment Nick. Appreciated. I didnt work on fine tuning the image. Really just asking Sam if this is the look suggested on my earlier submission. I wanted to create a logical perspective for the building vis a vis the bridge. He also suggested a little blur on the back mountains, so I just threw some tilt shift blur on it. Youre correct, i can improve it.

i really like the i think you would say the flat blacks
Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge#08
#challenge 5 Portrait Painting
It looks great!! Maybe try and tweak Shift edge a little on your Mask so you don't get the halo around the animal.
Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it 🙏🏼
Thank you so much, I will try🙂
Thank you! 😊 I’ll see if I can do that 👍🏼
thanks sam. I was afraid it already looked too dark, but I didn't even think of darkening the legs.
Did this in 20-25 minutes so didn't come out as i hoped but yeah its alright
nice 👍
Cheers!
using camera raw, I think this looks a little like a projector slide
My Camera Raw editing. Cleaned up the window reflection in the lower half and upper left corner, then brightened it up.
Challenge 9
i like that you put the rhino in your picture! 😀
@worn venture 😄
then i saw the other animals....lol
My day 9 challenge
@tired turret Some really nice work over the past couple of days. Your final version of the Portrait challenge has a terrific vibe to it. Very Roaring 20's. I like the enhancement you made to eliminate the BG. It also eliminated some of the washed out areas. Well done. Your Patterns are both well done. You even got the mock ups to show the fabric creases. Good work.
@distant needle Welcome to the DCC. Were happy you joined. Although we will be completing the Live portion of the challenge today, you can watch the replays over the next 2 weeks and complete the other exercises. Your type design is well done. The fill you selected works well. I would suggest you use a curves/levels adjustment layer to create contrast between the text and the BG. Perhaps even change the BG to a lighter color feeding off of one of the colors in the fill.
@tropic garnet Very intriguing pattern. The way you broke the palette up into shapes adds good interest. The coloration works well. Good effort by you
@bleak fossil thank you for your input and I agree I need to go back and make a few more changes
@copper moss Beautiful work with your patterns. Your color palettes are wonderful together. And presenting a mock up is awesome. The rusted image is super. Tiny tiny tweak, one of the rusted areas hides the sword. Maybe move the rusted spot up a little bit?
@blazing quail Your Pattern design is very cool. The colors work well. Your design merges together seamlessly. Using the model from the earlier exercise was a cool idea.
@forest lion Very well done animation. The leaves changing colors as they drop to match the coloration of the text is a cool effect. The one tweak Id make is to give the text a bit more contrast to the BG. The width of some of the letters is so narrow, and the color BG so close to the text fill, the letters are getting lost.
Ps DCC Challenge #9 Create Brilliant Images 11-19-2021
Before and After
This is creativity on a high level great edit Ted
Thanks, Ted! I will tweak later. Today Paul Trani showed how to fill Behance profile - so wonderful - now I know how to it. And I published the images. But I am having problems with loading of my files here to discord (can only chat), which I will solve later. Thanks-thanks-thanks! 😍
@leaden idol Thank you. Now we can really appreciate how lovely your portrait painting is.I love the way you enhanced the highlight on the skin. The shadows are very well done. Good work by you.
Post the link to your Behance portfolio here so people can check it out.
Where I get it? I am shy not sure if I fill images right and if they are good enough. I do not know if this is a link: https://www.behance.net/lenamarjamki
Open your portfolio; go to the menu bar; copy the address; paste the address in the Discord chat line
I guess I did the right link above. Have a look. (There are some images I could not fill right. I will work on those projects later). Thanks!
Yes that is the link. Im not showing off my work, but visit my Behance page and scroll through some of my portfolios. You can go much further in displaying your work. If you need further assistance, DM me.
What is the your link, Ted? I will check. I did challenges before but i could not fill profile...
@leaden idol Your Landscape Mixer is awesome. The colors in the landscape and the sky replacement merge beautifully. The overall tone of the image is very much a sunset (sunrise). Very good work
I follow you, Ted! And look later bit closer. Thanks!
DCC #9 with Paul Trani. Orginal photo from Signature Edits.
Work from camera RAW with sky mask layer.
And photo from RAW adjusted with HDR toning and little extra touch!
@void fractal For some reason there are two accounts under your name? Have you received the earlier comment I made on your work? Your Gradient design is great. The character practically jumps off the page. The colors you selected give solid contrast to the blue in the character. Your liquify effect adds real interest. Your T&T design is lovely. The texture and color of the fill are spot on. There is good contrast and cohesion in the design. The subtle ellipse is cool. Your Portrait is very well done. I so admire the ability to paint like that. Im terrible at it!! You captured the highlights and shadows beautifully. All in all, solid work. Keep posting.
i went in and added layers to the animals and brushed on the shadows.
@turbid fiber I want to follow up on what @hollow yarrow said. This is really well done. Its an adorable childlike design. The mock up is so cool. I especially like how you mocked up the label!! One tiny tweak, I would suggest a BG of different tone to give more contrast to the mock up so it stands out more.
@buoyant nova I love the Displacement on the dress. It looks so realistic. The colors of your pattern go great together. The design is so simple and crisp. The fabric has a sheen to it, the shadows are deep, even the straps look great. Solid work by you.
@hollow yarrow Youre a real friend of the chat group to offer those beautiful patterns. Thank you!!! Is that you playing the drums???? 😜 🤣 I love the FB record label!! As I said last night in the stream, I so love the shadow work you do, as evidenced in the mock up. Love it.
Wow, what a change
Thank you @young karma 🙂
@lean anvil I like your patterns image. I would suggest you scale up the mock up so it becomes more of the focal point of the design, as opposed to the wall. And you might lower the brightness just a bit so the pattern shows better. On your Color Transfer, you did a good job shading the design. It appears as though you didnt apply the same effects to the bird.
Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge#09
@lusty relic Nice work on the Pattern design. It would make a lovely dog lovers holiday wrapping paper!!! The upside down dog is a cool idea.
@lethal prism Very solid effort on the Color Transfer. The elements you added blend in so well. The masking is well done. One tweak Id make is to add a little bit of blur to the deer in the back right to add a sense of depth to the design.
That is an amazing suggestion.

Can someone Create a poster about human rights ?
I really need help to a work for school and in A3
Always a pleasure to share with people here! I play drums but that's not me on the picture (I'm pretty less photogenic👹 ) . I missed most of your stream yesterday... So sad but it was the worst hour for me (cooking+diner)... It's dull than we cannot have replay on Discord. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that Valdair and you made a great session. Looking forward next ones... Keep it rolling!👍
I knew it wasn't you on drums. I was joking. Having you tune in at all was a real boost. Your support is inspirational. Valdair and I enjoyedy hosting the stream. We'll see if Adobe wants us to continue
Thanks, Ted! You know I published the DCC with Paul Trani. I will work on this later and update in my profile. And you know, Trani easily showed how to build profile in 3 minutes.
Hope Adobe will want to continue @eternal mica !
Hi @eternal mica thank you for the feedback. After I submitted it I thought about a bunch of different things I could’ve/should’ve done differently. I will work more thoughtfully going forward!
Now finished posting challenge up to Behance. Please take a look and throw too my some comment. Here you are @copper moss , you were waiting 🙂 https://www.behance.net/gallery/131612549/PS-DCC-Hosted-by-Paul-Trani?tracking_source=for_you_feed_user_published
Patterns....
Challenge 8.... lol
I tell all the creatives, the Adobe policy is the second post is FREE!! Adobe only starts charging with the THIRD post 😂😂😂. Tweak it and rework it as many times as you like!! We'd love to see it.
Cheers for the feedback! Yeah I thought the bird looked abit off too, I'll work on it.
@magic edge I like the twist on this challenge! Are the aliens coming for the elephants, or did they just drop them off, hah. The ships look great and fit the scene really nicely. I wonder if the elephants might look good with a slightly cooler color tint to them, and/or a touch more shadow, at least around their legs? Just a thought. Nice work!
@lethal prism Really excellent collection of designs! Very nice work with all these different styles and techniques. I don't think I saw all of these before, but the mockup for your pattern design and the landscape mixer challenges both turned out really well, always neat to see how much the landscape mixer can transform an image. Really nice work on all of these!
@lost helm Very nice work on all of these challenges and great presentation on your Behance project! I don't think I originally say your type and texture "clean earth" challenge but I love the colors and texture. The sharp texture of the text and color contrast really nicely against the more blurred cool blues of the background water. Very nice job on all your designs 👍
@dusky wave These edits are looking good for the Day 9 challenge, nice work!
