Day 2.
They are just exercises! I have many of variants of liquifying like bg. And I am doing one interesting composition now. Do not worry. Еvery one is crazy about their design. Thanks.
Day 2 Gradient Effects
I'm having soo much fun here @jolly quest It's way behind bedtime here but I had to finish this one LOL... Anyone up for some snack? Scoooby Doooby Dooo....
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@eternal mica Thank you for your feedback. You're absolutely right about the background. Both the opacity and the lack of a slight blur. I didn't think of that. I will check on that tomorrow.
Thank you! 🙌

Thank you! 🙌
Ps DCC Mini 02 Gradient Effects I applied different blend modes and a curves adjustment layer to the same texture to create six completely different looks.
This is the Base design
Great job! I like the idea of showing us your blending modes experiences... Love the gold effect of Color mode and Black and Red result of Saturation Mode. Others look great too and noise added gives a nice "VooDoo Val like" result. Impressive work Ted!
BTW: always appreciated to see Base design.👍
@hollow yarrow Thank you very much. Your comments mean a great deal to me. When I first started the DCCs, I had no idea how powerful BMs are. @coral stone really pushed me to use them more and more. Now I love them. Showing the work is something I learned from many people, including you. Youve always been very generous in sharing your assets/processes.

PsDCC with VooDoo Val - Day 1 - Mixer Brush. I love the concepts brushes! Feeling like falling leaves today!
@quiet galleon Great colors on these Challenge 2 designs! Really nice contrast between them. I especially like the sort of halftone pattern you added on the second one. Really helps break the design up and add some interest. Very cool!
@wicked aurora These look great! I especially like the light colors of the first one, it gives it a sort of illuminated effect. There's also a really nice variety between the density of the shapes, like ink was dropped in at different intervals. Nice work!
@frosty monolith So cool! This came out great. I love the compositional balance between the left and right side, the text works really well to even it out. I also really like how the sharper shapes are focused more towards the middle. Nicely done!
Day 2 - Gradient Effects
@vague shuttle Really neat to see this used in a more illustrative way! The style of the rest of the image makes it fit the mixer brush effect nicely. Looks good!
@copper moss This effect turned out really cool! I like how you took it and ran with it to get this unique look. The texture works really well and the way the shape breaks up the design gives it a nice read. I especially like the bevel/emboss of the second design. Nice work!
Day 2 - WIP of the texture used for my ghost face
@paper oriole This design definitely has a strong liquid look to it, I think the strong contrast between the lightest and darkest color gives it some really nice form and depth. I really like the slightly watery look the blue color gives it. Very nice!
@short cedar That's great to hear! It's never too basic, you're always welcome to follow along directly with the stream if you're newer to Photoshop of the technique, or you can always run with a challenge and push it as far as you like if you're comfortable with that. I think this came out really well, the strong contrast between the gradient colors gives it a great look. :thumbsup
@young karma Really nice variety between these designs for the Day 2 challenge! One is a lot more subtle and ambient while the other has a much bolder look with the shapes and color contrast. I think they both work really well, nice job!:
@halcyon current Cool design! I like the metallic look of it, and it definitely takes on a very different look with the different color variations. The animation is a nice addition too!
@analog cave Woo, welcome in, glad you're joining us! Really liking the colors in this design, you definitely got that sort of 80s/90s beach vibe in this. The mixer brush looks good and I like the color gradients in it. Nice work!
@empty ice This looks great, really nice swirled looking design, and the texture makes for some added interest. I like the color palette of this one too. Looks good!
@thorn geyser Ooh, loving the gradients in this Day 1 design! Really cool sort of 80s feel to it, and the reflection in the ground plane looks great, and pushes that sense of 3D form within the brush shapes even more. Really nice bold colors and sense of lighting, looks very 3D!
@acoustic heron Glad to hear you're having fun! The masking effects definitely add an interesting look and sense of depth to it. Nice job 👍
@neat sparrow Ooh, great depth in this. The varying levels of blur add a great focal depth and sense of movement. Along with the dark background it also gives all the shapes a nice clear read. Really convincing 3D look to this design, nice work!
@vague shuttle Looking good! Really liking all the different variations you created for this. The second one's deeper dark tones give it a bit more of a solid/3D feel to it which is interesting. Nicely done!
@compact pecan Very nice, I love how creative you got with this design! The graphic shapes along with the liquify effect work really well, especially with all those warm colors against the cool blue background. Really cool and clean designs. Great work
@halcyon current Hah, very nice, creative use of the mixer brush. They really have a nice sense of 3D form to them, and you fit that in nicely with the style of the bowl, background, and table with your use of gradients. Love the colors too 👍
@eternal mica Very nice, Ted! I really like seeing all the variations you created along with the base design. The contrast in the base design almost looks like somewhere between silk and metallic which is really interesting. I especially love how metallic and golden the "color" version looks. Looks good!
@frail ice Nice work Cathy! The 3D looking form of the text and the backing glow helps it read against the background nicely. I also really like the collage of leaves you created, the color variation looks great!
Hi designers. Thought I'd try to play around with Day 1. Feedback and thoughts welcome. I designed the eye in Ps as well using shapes and Filters.
Thank you Anki! 🙂

Thank for the feedback! 👍
Wow! Thanks @hollow yarrow!

Thank you for the feedback! Actually my intention was not to have the "snake"effect, and while watching today's video saw VooDoo Val discuss folks helping here others related to the spacing issue. Great to know there are resources as such here in the community 👌

Used 16bit channel in order to use the Camera Raw filter...and some of the other smart filters
I have had some fun today. Thank you VooDoo_Val
Gradient Effects DCC. For some reason I see a lioness speaking to her cub. Creating a metallic look isn't easy. It really is amazing what you can create just by changing the blending modes and gradients. Thank you for this opportunity!
Challenge #2 gradients liquid filters are fun!
adding in a gradient and tweaking the colors for hints of white to give it more flow
🤘

I wake up EXACTLY like that EVERY DAY !!! 🥰😎👍🏼😂😁
Cool Challenge. I ready need to get a pin or use my iPad when using this tool, nevertheless I will be using this tool.👍

@bleak fossil Thank you for your feedback on my uploads today. I appreciate it very much. I got the idea for the mixer brush image from one other upload today and thought that I had to do one with some snacks and I'm very happy with the outcome of it.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@tropic knoll I can absolutely see that lioness or at least a mouflon sheep with large horns. I like the colorvariations too.
@stone wigeon I really like the outcome of this one. The colors are almost psychadelic. Good job!
@fresh swallow Interesting effect on this one. I really like it. Good job!
@hollow yarrow Oh I like this one very much and it inspires me much. Good job!
@onyx field I really like the presentation of challenge 2.
@compact pecan Oh this is beautiful. Very nice!
@thorn geyser I love the colors and the outcome of this one. Super job!

PS DCC 2021-11 Challenge #2 Gradient Effects 10-19-2021 version 2
I love this one! Great idea and so well executed. Shadows under your mixer brush swirl give a nice sense of depth, masking is on the point and gradient bubbles add a nice touch. Well done!👍
Thanks! I appreciate!

Thank you! It’s not what I want for a final project but it was fun to make for sure

This really reminds me of ice. I like the sharp angles with the brighter colors. Nicely done!
I really like the dark colors. This is very “moody” and the more I look at it the more I see smoke billowing up.
do you see the bird head also Hugh
Really great idea and awesome use of masks for the 3D look around the fish. The “bubbles” are a really good addition! The gradient background really sells it as seemingly in the ocean. Great job!
Well, I’m on my phone, so I didn’t see it until you pointed it out (phones never do images Justice). I see it now, and I like it! (Although I think it looks cool even without noticing the bird!)
It's was not my attention to make bird head it only get ther as Fenix.
Day 2. Finally catching up. Sticking with my spooky theme.
@eternal mica Here is my "homework" from yesterday 😉 I lowered the opacity of the background pattern and then added some gaussian blur to it. I also added something. Can you see what?
PS DCC 2021-11 Challenge #2 Gradient Effects 10-19-2021 version 3
LOL, good job on your "homework"!!! IMHO, this highlights the brush strokes a lot better. I dont know if you "added" something, but you removed the bevel border from the BG image.
Thank you!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
Thank you!
Loving these challenges!! Here's a lil creation from yesterday's challenge.
Thanks! The background actually came with the original image, I just darkened it to make the fish stand out more.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @compact pecan
Gorgeous!!!
So nice to know I'm not the ONLY one 😆
@halcyon current Now that's what I'd call hilariously appetizing!
#✂challenges-feedback I used my carpet in my living room to create this.
@simple idol Super application of the Mixed Brush design on your submission. The red brush strokes have a liquidy watery look to them. The drawing of the eye is terrific. One tiny tweak, I think the shadow is a bit out of line. Very creative work!!!
@fresh swallow Cool work on the Gradient exercise. I like the intensity in the first and last design. The last one has a real spooky feel to it. Good job by you.
@quiet ridge Interesting submission for the gradient challenge. The pattern you created has interesting flows in it. You got good effect out of the noise filter. I would make two suggestions. I would tone down the BG (blur? opacity?), as it takes away from the attention on your thumbnails, and I would use a curves adjustment on the thumbnails to brighten them and increase the contrast to the BG.
@tropic knoll I know exactly how you feel. I found the same feeling in playing with my design and BMs. I like how you displayed the multiple results of the BM. The color Burn is exciting. The Saturation looks so metallic. Which is your favorite look?
@eternal mica Lol... I forgot to add the bevel border from the bg-image but the thing I added was a faint purple shadow between the brush strokes and the background. I think it adds a bit more depth to the image.
Hello all, here is my take on PS DCC Challenge #2 -Gradient Effects. 💧 Great to be learning new!
I see that now. Good job by you.
@eternal mica Thank you!

@tired turret Very well done Gradient exercise. Its amazing how different the two variations look. I think the white you added to the second gradient had a great effect. Good job by you.
@halcyon current and @eternal mica thanks for the feedback! The blue one reminds me of the liquid in the Lazarus Pit from the show Titans
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @halcyon current
Thank you @eternal mica! I believe my favorites are the Soft Light and Color Burn. It's hard to choose. 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@hearty quiver Love your work on these four designs. The first and third are awesome. Very real metallic effect. My preference would be to enhance the metallic effect even more by adding a curves adjustment layer and increasing the brightness and contrast. But thats just my personal preference.
Challenge #2 Gradient Effects
@craggy fable Creative approach to the mixed brush exercise. Your design is well done. One suggestion Id make is to add a curves adjustment layer to add contrast to the design so it stands out more from the BG. But you may want it this dark.. Your design. Your decision.
@onyx field Wow very Psychedelic 60's vibe to this design. Awesome way to display the variations. I appreciate the labeling, it adds to the understanding on the part of the viewer. One thing I would suggest. In this design, the variations from BM to BM vary based on where on your design one looks. By only showing a portion of each design, that effect is lost. E.G, I wonder how the whole gradient effect looks with the Pass Through? Just a thought.
@pastel vessel Yeah, writing with a mouse isnt so easy!!! But your mixed brush design came out really well done. You got very nice variation in yor brush stroke. the colors in your storke are complimentary. The black BG makes the letters really stand out. Well done
Just a fun texture with Val teaching
@tired turret Thank you for posting the font pack. So cool of you to think of the rest of the group. On your Thank You post, my thought, why so dark? Why not some more contrast to let the text stand out??
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @tired turret
@burnt pike Beautiful interpretation of the Mixed Brush exercise. The color palette is perfect for the design. The masking is very well done. Adding the bubble is terrific touch. It looks like theres just a hint of the blue in the center of the purple brush stroke to add just a hint of highlight. Very well done.
@wary swan V2 of your Gradient exercise is very interesting. The range of colors you exhibited is cool. Your pattern looks like an abstract design of painted flowers. One tweak Id make is to add a curves adjustment layer and increase the contrast in the design. Good job by you.
@lethal prism Very nice gradient exercise designs. They appear to be two different designs. It would be interesting to see what design #1 would look like with the BM and gradient of #2, and vice versa. Just a thought.
@simple idol Yes, youre gradient design keeps up with the "spooky" theme. Id love to see that design with a curves adjustment layer to increase the contrast between the colors in the design.
@wary swan Is your design #3 the same pattern as design #2? It looks like its different.
Challenge #2
@next dome Oh wow, yur gradient design looks like an eye staring right back at the viewer!!! Very interesting. You got very strong effect out of the noise filter. The touches of cyan really add pop to an otherwise dark image.
This is so much fun! My subject was my cat's face... & made some interesting textures I think...
@lethal prism Very well done!! I think you'll find a lot of ways to use that pattern brush.
@halcyon lagoon Nice work with the gradient pattern design. Interesting design pattern. Good effect out of the noise filter. One tweak Id make is to add a curves adjustment layer to try to add more contrast to the design. Good job by you.
@analog cave Good job with the Gradient challenge. The color palette is strong. Your design has a very bright metallic look to it. I think you could enhance that effect (if thats what youre going for) by adding a curves adjustment and increasing the contrast.
Oh my... How fun isn't this... Thanks for another fun challenge @jolly quest I go for all the challenges so far this week - 3 in 1 - made a 2 in 1 yesterday so had to try do the same for today 😆 I used todays challenge (#3) to create a patterned brush that I used as base for the Mixer brush (#1) to write the text witch gave an interesting effect. Then I used the brush to create the base image to the Gradients effects (#2) from yesterday and colored it with the very same gradient that I used for the mixer brush.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @jolly quest
@marble umbra Indeed an interesting texture!
@woeful light Very creative interpretation for the Mixed brush tool. Yes, I agree, its not easy to write with a mouse, especially with the lag using the mixed brush tool. It took me a few tries to get the delay down. VDV did recommend a fix for that by saying you can draw it in a smaller size then convert to SO then scale up. There are so many interesting little aspects to your design. Its hard to see them all with the over all dark feeling. Id suggest you bring them out more by increasing the contrast in the design.
@glacial minnow Thank you so much for the support!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @glacial minnow
@eternal mica thank you. Ah yes, I saw all of the suggestions after I posted it. And good suggestion on increasing the contrast! Thank you. 🙂

Very Fun Challenge - I'll never buy another background pack again!
Challenge #04: Textures. I did from the given image a brush with color dynamics with saturation jitter 57%, hue jitter 12% and fg and bg jitter 9% . And made some shapes like pipes. And also decided to use it in the composition. That was fun!
Thank you, everything that we're doing this week is new to me, but it's great fun and I look forward to the next challenge 🙂

Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions 🙂
I did shadows around the porthole. Maybe this one looks better.
it is a new pattern

Great suggestion, thank you for the review and feedback! 😊
Day 2 Gradients
Oh my I'm probably having too fun as I'm feeling very crazy/silly right now... This is one for todays challenge of Textures. Had a photo of my morning coffee that I made into a texture with Capture. Made the texture in to a brush. Used a gradient already in PS and put a white stamp right on the gradientsample for the mixer brush that I used to create this silly gif animation. 🤣 🤣 🤣
@young karma Very very nice gradient effect combinations. Good job!
I always remind people, posting your second version is free in Ps Discord chat, its the third one you have to pay for, 🤣 😜 🤣 😜
Hi Ted .. this reminds me of one of my first computers, when I was drawing a simple sky/house/grass/sun pic with kids , and then pressing tab .. they loved it ! ( learnt this from Sam last DCC lol )
love the texture, this can be used for GNR's album cover. Legit! 🥂
Good job by you. That @bleak fossil guy is a barrel of fun!!! What he teaches can be utilized so many ways. That's what makes the DCC so much fun. Somewhere down the line, I pull out something I learned a while ago, re-watch the video, and bingo!!! I have a terrific technique.
PS DCC 2 - I had fun with this lesson.
Here is my trial for today's challenge Texture ... Here it looks like blood and when I turn the color, in green by ex. it looks like lichen ... so funny, it is as it gets dimension thanks to its pink shades and the white.
Texture Challenge 3 - I had more fun with this than I expected. Thank you!
Challenge 2: Gradient Effects: So fun to experiment. I made at least 20 of these today, so didn't get to today's challenge.
I love this! What did you use to make the white ovals?
Great series! Your swirly texture looks like a Rose🌹
☺️
Had trouble deciding which ones to post. It’s amazing how many different looks can be achieved with the same base.
All are great! Ask your client 😉...
😁
I used Adobe Capture on a pebble patterned window cling I have on my office door.
Very nice. I really like the way it turned out. Will see what similar thing i have around here…rocks in the window wells, I suppose.
Day 3 Textures
Pretty loud, but I liked mixing the texture brush (grass) with the blended gradient background.
Finally able to use the texture I got from bark on a tree. I've never used capture before and I LOVE it. My altered image took a real creepy turn, real fast. 😄 This was FUN!!!
I loved this challenge. I call this Grandmother's chair as it's fabric from a seat cushion taken with Capture. Never heard of Capture before today as well!
Day 3 Texture. Left is faux leather couch and Right is crumpled tin foil. The image is from a DCC a long, long time ago and has been my Discord profile pic ever since.
@compact pecan I LOVE this!!!
Thank you! 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @fresh swallow
Love this! How is the design wrapped aroudn the font? Newbie here!
I’ll try to explain tomorrow - away from computer until noon on Thursday, sorry 😎
@pulsar river Very pretty Gradient design. The image has a soft surreal feel to it. The colors blended beautifully. One can almost imagine the two blogs on the right to be a man and a woman in an embrace. Theres just a hint of noise in the image. Well done.
@marble umbra Did I miss something or isnt the texture supposed to be applied to something?? 🤣 🤣 🤣 Im not sure where youre headed with this, but Im definitely interested enough to find out!!!
@woeful light Very interesting Gradient design. The black and green really mesh nicely. You created a very neat design with almost a symmetry to it. Theres a hint of metallic to the light green. One tweak Id try to see how it plays out is to add a BM/Curves adjustment layer that might make the design look even more metallic. Just a thought.
@fathom nacelleoomis You have me giggling with these. This one will probably work better than the first. I tried to make out a cat's face somewhere in the lines; cant do it; LOL. Keep the designs coming!!!
@halcyon current Youre lucky this series is abbreviated to 5 sessions. Imagine if this were a regular DCC having to make a 9 in 1 design !!! This one is really creative. The texture you added to the text fill looks great. Your handwritten text is fun. The colors work so well together. Good job by you.
@frail ice Very nice gradient design. The gold red combo works great together. the way you worked the gold into the design gives the feel that those shapes are objects and sets the mind the imagining what objects they are. One tweak i might suggest is to play with the BM to raise the metallic look for the gold color to really make the design pop.
@young karma Beautiful marbleized design. The gradient you added makes the gold strands change nicely from one corner to the other. Your texture design is well done. This definitely looks like a texture you'll be able to apply to your work many times in the future.
@copper moss Cool work on the texture design. I like how you brought in the design from the last series. I looked at the window image and thought it looked light soap suds in a washing machine and the astronaut was stuck inside ---- so cool. The texture you created with your brush design shows through real well. Good work all around.
@young karma Good job with the gradient designs. The variations you created really show off really nicely. The pattern you created is intersting and attracts the viewers attention. Nice work.
@quiet fern Good work with the Mixer Brush design. The 4 designs you created have a nice mix of colors. I might add a curves adjustment layer to give them more pop and more contrast from the BG. Your masking work on the Boston design is well done. Nice job all around.
@thorn geyser Beautiful Gradient design. Did you use the same color palette as in the Mixed Brush design? It looks like you did. I might suggest adding some more contrast to the design to give it more pop. What do you think?
@halcyon current Awesome GIF. I think youre correct, youre having waaaay too much fun!!! We may have to tame you down for the next two designs!!!!😜 😜 😜
@onyx field LOL, you took me up on my suggestion in spades!!!! You guys are killing with the GIFs that @bleak fossil opened the flood gates to in the last series. I love it. The slide speed you used really amplifies the psychedelic feel.
@quiet ridge You really "captured" the essence of this exercise with your Capture design. Nice work. I might suggest increasing the font contrast from the background by any one of a number of different techniques.
@eternal mica Thank you and I agree the contrast needs to be addressed, maybe tomorrow 😎
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@humble flint I like the 2nd gradient design you created. I think the first one could use a curves adjustment layer to brighten it up and maybe a different BM to add contrast, but thats just my personal preference.
Sounds good! Enjoy the unplug!!
Made it to challenge #3! Wahoo! Faux Fur Baby!! Loved the challenge. Thank You!!!
@craggy fable Oooh nice work. Those designs are a lot harder to create than they look. Organized liquid is really hard to do with liquify. The bottom two show how effective BMs can be in changing the feel of a design. I especially like the noise you added to Black Fire. Solid effort.
I know - I usually change all my backgrounds to Rich Black, but just no time today 😁
@vagrant rapids Very nice texture. It looks like a texture you could blend into lots of images to create an interesting effect. Well done.
@stoic junco Very well done texture design. The way you applied it to the underlying image is very well done, with the multiple colors and opacities. Are the white circles a pattern or did you draw them in?
@simple idol Really cool idea for this Day 1 design! The mixer brush has a really nice 3D look to it and I like how much you varied the brush strokes to build them on top of each other. Kind of has a sort of medical illustration feel to it. Nice work!
@onyx field Great presentation on the Day 2 design! I really like the bold differences between each color variation, and the color contrast between each gradient gives it a nice strong read. Looks good!
@marble umbra Really interesting idea for a texture! I like how it's become so abstracted as a texture that you can tell. The outline of these shapes has a really nice look to it, and the balance between heavily textured and clear space works really well!
@hushed spade We've got to give you a limit how many variations on a theme you can create!!!!! Otherwise you'll get so absorbed you'll forget to walk the dog!!!! The designs you posted are awesome. There is so much contrast in the swirl pattern you created that if offers the gradient a host of possibilities. Each one has a unique feel and message to it. The metallic look to the last one is really special. Very well done.
@woeful light Really cool looking effect on this Day 2 challenge! I like the strong contrast and metallic look to it. Lots of really interesting shapes going on 👍
@halcyon current Cool idea! Always interesting to see how different techniques can be mixed and matched. The stroke and contrast really help the text read against the background. I like the colors too!
@pulsar river I like it! The Day 2 challenge has a really interesting softness to it, somehow even looks kind of floral to me. Great colors and patterns, nicely done!
Super creative. I asked the same question in my comment on your design. I guess thats the essence of what Capture is supposed to do.
@woeful light Looks good! Really nice sense of dimension from those shapes. Mouse can definitely make it tricky, especially writing any text, nicely done. If you're using the mixer brush with smoothing turned up high the "lag" is intentional to smooth out the brush strokes, it works the same with the regular brush tool where it trails behind the stroke. However if you're just getting normal lag, that sometimes happens depending on the setting of the brush and brush size and how system intensive they are. Nice work!
@frail ice Nice job with the liquify effect! The color contrast works well and the shapes are looking good.
@young karma Nice work on the different textures for this challenge. I like the subtlety and gradual fade of the texture in the first image. Looks good!
@copper moss Really liking this color variation between all the different layers/shapes in this design! The color dynamics definitely add a lot of interest, and the texture looks good too. Nice job!
@humble flint That texture looks great. I could see you using that on lots of images in the future. What did you use as the base image?
@compact pecan I knew this image looked familiar, hah. Really cool variations with these textures. The couch texture definitely has that leather/snakeskin look to it, but the tin foil almost has a sort of water-like effect in a way. Cool to see you combining this with a previous design!
@frail ice Cool idea! This made for a really nice, clear pattern. I especially like the fabric/canvas looking texture from the chair. The gradient is a nice touch as well!
@woeful light Such a neat texture, especially with these earthy colors. The background gradient and texture looks really cool too 👍
@cosmic canopy Really interesting to see how an image of grass turns out in Capture! I like the design you created with these textures, the composition between all the shapes looks good, and colors and background texture came out really nicely too.
@cosmic canopy Nice to see you combining exercises to create a very interesting design. The brush you created is a pattern Im sure you'll be able to use in the future. And I dont think its too loud at all.
@humble flint Very cool, is this some kind of fabric? I like the shapes created with this texture, the colors look good too.
@eternal mica Really liking how you included the process to getting this brush and texture! Interesting to see how this photo translates into a brush texture, I like the speckled look of it. Nice job!
@stoic junco Ooh, definitely a cool image to use as a texture. The design turned out great, I love the separation between the big circular shapes and the smaller more intricate details of the background pattern. Nicely done!
@vagrant rapids Always interesting to see how the texture looks with different colors and uses. The variation between the red and white contrast gives it a really interesting look. Nice work!
@craggy fable Very nice variation on these different patterns! Really cool to see the more flat color designs at the top vs the more realistic, dimensional ones at the bottom. I love the "flower spill" design, it gives me very strong 90s vibes. Looks good!
Some guy, I cant remember his name, 😉 😉 taught me about process gif, so I figured what the heck, give it a shot!!!! Thanks Sam. I appreciate your comments.

Thank you so much! 😊
@humble flint Nice job with these different designs! I like the different styles and effects you got between them. I especially like the colors and contrast of the second design.
@quiet ridge Nice job with this brush texture! Also really cool to see what you used to make it. Nicely done.
I cant wait to see it. Yes, Its the 3rd one that gets into the big bucks!!!🤑 🤑
@bleak fossil Thank you

@onyx field Loving the bold colors of this design! You got some really cool shapes too with the ways you used the liquify tool. The animation is a great effect too!
@halcyon current Loving the animation! Really cool to hear the process you used, I love the balance between stylized and realistic. At first glance the colors look very fleshy, but the shapes also give it a really stylized look. Cool effect!
@thorn geyser The Day 2 challenge came out really well! I love all the intricate lines in this design, and the colors have a great contrast.
@quiet fern Loving the shapes and gradients you created with the Mixer brush challenge. Really nice sense of form with the contrast of the colors you chose. The text design looks great, really nice job on the masking!
Thanks so much. My machine is an oldie so, it is to be expected I suppose. 😭

Haha!
@woeful light I also could never figure out where to use Capture. Today's stream was an eye opener. I played with the app for a while and my mind started spinning with all the potential applications. I cant wait to start using it. Your design is wonderful. That little blob in the lower part of the circle reminds me of The Mummy trying to emerge from a sandstorm. Theres so much depth to the texture and color palette of your design. Awesome.
@frail ice I think a lot of us were introduced today to Capture for the first time. And it seems a lot of us are really enjoying the creativity it offers. Your design is lovely. I could definitely see you using this pattern in the future. The gradient fits the design. Not bad for a Day One exercise!!! Well done.
Thanks so much. Yes! Me too! Funny thing, when I went to download Capture, I discovered that it was already on my phone, tucked away in an Adobe folder. I have no clue when I ever downloaded it. Lol. I’m stoked that I happened upon this challenge though. Like you my design mind is spinning within ideas. Yes!!! There are all kinds of creepy paranormal peeps in that texture.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@compact pecan The textures are great!!! Especially the crumpled foil. The BG gradients work very well to enhance the image. Is the picture a self portrait???? 😂 😂 😂
@next dome Very nice work on the texture exercise. The brush came out great. I like how you applied it with varying sizes/colors/strokes. Are the magenta lines the same brush?
@chilly hawk Very nice gradient designs. The first has a spooky Halloween feel to it. The red one is powerful and bold. I would suggest adding a curves adjustment layer to each of them to see if I could enhance the contrast and make the colors pop even more. But that may just be my personal preference. Good job by you.
Playing with smashing a few challenges into one image
challenge 2 gradient effects
@woeful light This one is awesome. The colors and the texture sure match and it's great for the challenge and the season to come 🙂 Great job!
@eternal mica Thank you so much for your feedback! You bet that I now have to try to do just that - make a 9 in 1 - That will be a true challenge and really fun to try to do 😁
@eternal mica Well I'm not sure you will be able to tame me down 🤪 My mind is very twisted sometime and it sure gets even more twisted when I'm in twisted communities 😂🥰

@bleak fossil Thank you for your feedback! It's much appreciated! That is the way my creative mind works - I like to test and use stuff in new ways. This community sure boosts my creativity and that makes me feel good 😍
@bleak fossil I start with something and plays around without knowing where it will end. I too sensed the fleshy look and that was what made me to do this animation. Your Process GIF challenge made me to go for an animation and I will certainly continue doing them when I feel it's a good idea 😁

Exactly @eternal mica, thanks !

Thanks so much @bleak fossil!
This looks like a planet.
I love it. I also used a picture of a tree and cut out the bark to create the brush in my first image.
So we had a similar idea but mine isn’t as cool as yours.
👍💜
Thank you, I definitely was inspired by your previous design and the color choice in that image 🙂 GNR - do you think?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @frosty monolith
Hey, That's so great to know. Totally, I think this qualifies well for an album art. Loved the broken glass texture.
Yes, thanks a lot for your nice comments. I wanted to ask about Ca: is it free and working only on Iphone? I use Sony. What about IPad pro? Idea is that Ps does the same, does it? Grateful!

I wanted to use brush application into life. Glad my idea worked well. That was from one challenge with Pinsky this year. Thanks for your sincere comments.

Gradient BRW made in photoshop
Scrubby texture taken with smartphone
Wet Texture Mixer Brush made of above completed texture
DCC3 .... all done with a brush of pencil sharpener shavings lol
I think its time for a cup of warm milk and for you to take a nap!!!! 🤪 🤪 🤪 WOW youre having fun. Isnt it cool that youre able to play around with all these new tools and techniques to create anything you can imagine!!!!
@worn venture Beautiful design for the Gradient exercise. The pattern you created with the liquify is very interesting, with many highlights and lots of contrast to give the BMs what to work with. Showing all the variations is so cool. I would suggest using a curves adjustment layer on some of the designs to add more pop, especially to the ones that would lend themselves to a metallic look.
@young karma Solid work with the new brush you created. It gives me the feeling of a sun shining. I would suggest you use an adjustment layer to add contrast to the design. Good job by you.
@wary swan Nice that you've shown us your work in developing the Texture design. It has a solid look as it fades from lower left to upper right. The texture you created is surely one you'll be able to use in your work in the future.
@onyx field I love this design. It has a light fresh childlike feel to it. Your new brush really worked beautifully across the entire design. Very well done.
Challenge 2
Thank you @eternal mica, & Yes it was/is fun and I think I was having too much fun playing 🥳

Texture Gradient Chellenge
Mixer Brushes are very cool. Never played with them before. All sorts of possibilities. Working on the spooky vibe...
Textures in play ...perhaps too noisy?
TEXTURE and Brush. This may not look like much but it is hours of trying and figuring. I learned tons! Like how vital the foreground color is when Defining a brush. Still working on understanding Color Range. I finally got a Texture! I was so excited! Capture was my assistant. I want to thank everyone who made this opportunity possible!
@eternal mica I tried but I just couldn't make that first one metallic. It wanted to be more of a satin finish. So I made a new graphic, no distortion layer, and I think it looks a bit more metallic? I have to play around with the adjustment layers more. Really love experimenting though.
Thank you so much @young karma ! My thought exactly. Some futuristic, harsh world out there somewhere. No place I would ever want to visit lol. I bet your image is far more spectacular than you think! We are all our worst critics. I'll find it and return the kind comment.

Hi all! This was fun one. I used Capture to create the asset (concrete slab) and used it for some fall leaf action. PS DCC Challenge#3- Textures.
@halcyon current thank you so much! What I love most about this challenge is I never know where my design will lead me. I think @jolly quest is bringing out myHalloween feels and I love it. Experimenting with all these tools that I don't use in my daily work life and seeing the end results... that's an exciting part of the process.

@hushed spade i love these! They look like roses.
@young karma Your textures are great! I really love how subtle the first one is. And the second one! Is so full of texture. I think I see a face in it? LOL, its creepy and it is fantastic.

Great work

@eternal mica thanks. I'll give curves a try. I could have made different colors all night lol.
It is difficult to read the text, more the kernel an better contrast
It was a fun addictive exercise for a lot of us.

Made a texture brush from a bark path. It gives different feels at different sizes. Here it looks like snow/ice. I turned it up and it looked more like blood splatters lol
Promo Text challenge. I had a lot of fun, it was a lot of cloning and layer masking lol!
Lets add some mixer brush to the image
Yes I used a similar colour palette to the Mixer Brush design 🙂 Thanks for the suggestion, I have added contrast and it does make it pop!

Wow, what a difference. Well Done!!!
Ps DCC Mini 04 Promo Text
haha am listening to joboxers on timslistening party and this was in the same beat as not my night
A little tweak
☺️
Here's one for todays challenge (#4) but all the other challenges this week are also incorporated in this one... 4 in 1 😁 I used the Ironwood Std font. The small flames on the tops of the letters are made by the mixerbrush (#1). The pattern in the words are made by using the liquify filter (#2) and the background is the one I created yesterday (#3) from a photo on my morning coffee.
@burnt pike Beautiful pattern on the Gradient challenge Your pattern has wonderful highlights and contrast. The colors really pop. Very good job by you.
@eternal mica It's a little bit easier to the lower part of the image now. I bet you had a fun creating it 😄
@wary swan Fun GIF!!!!
@stoic junco I love the colors here! Good job!
@fresh swallow Very nice effect and the colors really works together.
Many times, after I post something on Discord, I see how it looks to others, I go back and modify a design. I felt the first bottom design was a bit too dreary, so I added some fun colors to make it more "Happy Halloween".
@halcyon current thanks! I appreciate the feedback
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @halcyon current
@queen dew Interesting effect!
@sleek cave Nice work on your Gradient. Blue and Orange are always a powerful color combination. One tweak Id make is to add a curves adjustment layer to enhance the contrast, and then play with BM to add pop to the design. Good effort
@arctic rover Creative idea for the Mixer Brushes design!! You did a good job masking. However, you might want to play with BMs a bit more to eliminate the brush strokes showing through the text and the pencil. I think if you change the color the fill, it will also help the mask. The Gradient design is very well done. The shadow is a nice touch to add realism to the composite. Nice work alla round
@tropic knoll That texture/Brush design is amazing. Because you spent so much time working on it, how would you like showing us how you did it with a Process GIF?? No pressure, just a thought. The one tweak Id make to your submission is to change the BG color to one that contrasts with all six patterns.
@stone wigeon Awesome application of your texture pattern in the Halloween design. Its funny, I see a man's head and face in the spill of the tea leaves. Is that just me? LOL
I fell in love with the Desire Pro font during your demo, so had to create something with it. WOW! So cool. Not so scary image. I used the leaves I created on Monday's lesson, converted to a smart object , applied a gaussian blur and then changed to Hard Light - totally changes the feel for the image.
Aaahh I love that font!! Nicely done with the light shining on the bottle!
Nice touch to add in some mixer brush, and I like how you waved the line through the letters. Is that “Shlop” font? Definitely one of my favorites and perfect for Halloween season.
@compact pecan Yes that is Shlop I think it fits the mood. 😎 Thank you for the kind words

Hello hello everyone!! I am a bit behind schedule - discovered/started these challenges a little belated - but here are my gradients/brush presets from Challenge #1 - Mixer Brushes!
Challenge #04: Custom Spooky Type. There can added bg inside of the ellipse.
Thanks! 😃 haha I didn't realize! 😲

DCC 3 PS Textures - another fun challenge I used candy corn as my texture.
Day 4 Promo Text. I added the moon and a LUT (night from day) then added the text.
In keeping with my spooky planetary theme...
I really like that font, especially the exaggerated curves. Great idea to use your image from Monday’s challenge for this one! I’m curious if a lighter orange color for the text would make it stand out a bit more - I’m thinking a bright orange would really pop against the darker background. Nicely done! 👍🏼
No worries about “being behind” - the challenges are always available after the livestream and lots of folks do them a little later. I like the gradients you used, and your masking is very well done to give them a 3D-type effect. It looks like you had some fun with this challenge, too. Well done!
Photoshop Challenge Gradient Effects. Thank @jolly quest I am really enjoying these classes.

Hi @eternal mica! Thank you for the grand compliment! Val's comment was most kind, too. I'd be happy to do a .gif. I'll see what I can come up with! Thank you for the invitation and inspiration!

Purple/Pink - Yellow/orange are one of my favorite complementary color combos! I like the detail you kept with the small lines and angles. This would go well in a ‘60s/‘70s gig poster!
Thank you, I am so happy to read this! 😊 This was my first time using Photoshop for Desktop since CS6 in 2012 or so - So I have a teensy bit of prior experience and am super excited to catch up on all the latest features! 🥳🎊
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @compact pecan
I am happy that I actually made my own texture, successfully or not. Thank you for indulging.
Textures - this one was fun because I got to use my grandkid as a model. This texture is the picked at hole in the knee of his jeans. The top layer of denim is threadbare and has ridges that made for the best brush!
Using the texture in font of and behind an image of a skull, add in a gradient and some filters and boom spooky background!
DCC 4 - I thought the Chunk font looked like teeth. 😆
challenge #4
Okay! Here is my Text Challenge.
@analog cave Good job with the Capture texture. The way you applied it to the leaf is awesome. You really demonstrated the technique's application to a live example. I love the color palette. Solid effort.
@lethal prism Strong effort with the Mixer brush design. The shape you created is masked beautifully. The colors are solid. The strokes have a consistency with the light direction that makes the design pop. Good work
@pliant comet You used a cat for your design?? Im truly shocked!!! It looks like cat hair is a perfect base for a new texture brush. It looks just like a real paint brush, and the impressions you created with the brush are great. One tweak id suggest is to increase the contrast on the right panel BG so all six impressions show up.
@lethal prism @coral stone and @bleak fossil always point out to me in my designs that the primary goal of text should be that it be legible (unless, of course, the designer wants the text to be somewhat illegible.) I really like the concept of your design. But I find the text to be a bit too difficult to read. If thats what you wanted, thats fine. But if its not, I would suggest you tone down the effects on the text to make the letters more legible. You can do a lot with drop shadows, outer glows, etc to stylize the text and get the effect youre looking for, without sacrificing legibility.
@queen dew The two different looks you created with the gradient exercise are well done. I imagine the second design used a radial gradient. Good idea. The results are really different. Your texture exercise captured (no pun intended) the essence of the technique beautifully. Your design looks like a photograph of fall foliage. Solid work all around.
Yay Im finally uploading my first challenge😍
Hi! where can I find the challenge list for this week? thank you
#lovemesomevoodooval 🙌 On too #2❤️😍
@paper oriole Isnt that the amazing aspect about these textures. Its like that TV commercial that starts out showing the eye of fish and keeps zooming out until its a picture of the earth from space. Awesome concept for the text design. It looks like you utilized the action technique from the last DCC to create the text on a path here. Its a bit busy and the text is hard to read. But theres so much going on in the design, I think you figured that out already.
@fresh swallow Really creative design for your text exercise. I love the snake logos. The lighting you have on the BG works beautifully. Is there a reason you posted two versions. I couldnt tell any difference between them.
@eternal mica thanks! The first one had an oil paint filter applied to it, the second one did not
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@quiet ridge Good job on your Halloween text design. One suggestion, when youre using type on a path, many times the letters need special adjustments to the kerning to make sure they dont overlap. Notice the HA and WEE in your text. The mixer brush is fun, but I like the first design better.
@vivid tulip OOOH I love this Mixer Brush design. The text is lovely. The way you layered the strokes and added shadows is awesome. The color palette is so bright and lively. Great job by you. Out of curiosity, does the text mean anything relative to the design?)
@stoic junco Very Harry Potter-ish design. Awesome job on the design. The story the design tells is unmistakable. The rays of light, the splotches on the bottle, the whole scene is awesome. Oh, and the font fits the story perfectly. Great job. 💯
@halcyon current You really nailed this one. Incorporating the 4 challenges is a super job by you. I love the colors in this design. Your font choice was right on. I cant wait to see all 5 tomorrow.
@vivid tulip Thanks for posting the variations of your Gradient design. They look solid. I think if you add curves adjustment layer to add contrast to the gold design, you will end up with a very metallic look that can really pop.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @vivid tulip
@eternal mica yeah I adjusted the Kerning and that was the point I called it good. I am pretty sure it is set at + 75 on the WEEN and + 25 on the HA
@frail ice Isnt it fun to incorporate more than one DCC technique into a design? Your design is super. One tweak Id make is to increase the contrast between the text and the BG to enhance the legibility of the text and make it the focal point of the design.
I hear you. Many times, I find I have to pretty much do each two letters individually to get an evenly spaced out look.
@eternal mica you should have seen it before 😂
@eternal mica Thank you for the input
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@vivid tulip Very well done text design. I like the BG texture. Did you create that yesterday in the exercise? One tweak Id make. Decide if you want the letters to merge into each other or not and then be consistent throughout with your kerning. Note the ALL merging together but the OW are separate. Good job by you.
@vast kayak Its never too late. This DCC is an abbreviated set of challenges because next week is Adobe MAX 2021. But you can complete the challenges on your own schedule over the next two weeks. Nice work with the Mixed brush designs. You created some interesting designs. The brush strokes work very nicely. Your masking is right on. Good job by you. Keep posting.
@copper moss Very cool idea for your text design very well executed. The text is legible even with all the elements in the design. Thats not easy to do. i really like the reflection you added to the "floor" Did you create the texture yesterday?
@craggy fable Wow, I really do see candy corn in these textures. Good for you!!! You nailed this exercise. Your presentation is very well done. Very solid work!!!!
@compact pecan Perfect font for the Halloween feel of your design. Arent Color Lookups great for adding a mood to a design? Your selection works perfectly. Solid effort.
@woeful light Hey havent I seen that texture before???? 🤣 🤣 🤣 I love the embossed look your text has, as if it was carved out of the wood. And the textures throughout really sell the story. Great effort by you.
@wooden bloom We're happy youre enjoying this DCC series. Very interesting Gradient pattern. One suggestion Id make is to try out some Blend Modes and a curves adjustment layer to add more contrast and highlights to the pattern.
@simple idol Awesome design for the texture exercise. It looks like a real painting. What did you use to create the Brush? I might suggest a curves adjustment layer to add pop to the colors. See what you think.
@tired turret Thanks for explaining the techniques and elements you used to create your awesome design. I love when creatives explain their processes to me. it enhances my appreciation for their creativity. Your result is terrific. The skull looks almost alive. Lots of good highlights and contrast in your design. The color palette isnt one Id normally think of as spooky, but yours is.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @tired turret
@craggy fable Haha, in your design, it does. Simple. Straight Forward. Fun. The eyes you created look so cool. Good effort by you.
@vivid tulip I see you used a number of the techniques from this week's DCC in this design. Good for you. The elements you added to the design are all well done. Your text on a path is well done. One thing Id suggest is, since the text works all the way around the ellipse, the word "kids" should be positioned better so its clear to the reader where the sentence begins.
@simple idol You brought back that spooky eye!!!! Awesome how you worked it into he text. The texture BG is great. One small tweak, The "W" doesnt seem to have the same blurred stylization as the other letters. You might want to check that.
@hearty quiver Very cool fun happy ghost design. A few comments. Id suggest when you have text which is going to wrap all around a shape or object, the beginning of the sentence should be in a more clearly defined position. (either centered at top or 9 o'clock). You have a spelling error in the word "Year"
I agree that the sea gradient I picked wasn't very scary but it sure turned out that way. Coming up..... the abominable snowman... 🙃
@calm pond The landing page for the challenges is https://www.behance.net/challenge/photoshop The final one of this series is tomorrow, Friday 10/22 at 9:00AM PST. If you have any questions, just reach out. We're here to help.
I cant wait!!! Im sure VDV has something very special planned for us tomorrow. She never disappoints.
@sour barn Welcome. We're happy you decided to join our DCC group. If you have any questions, give a shout. We're here to help. Your designs are bright and fun. You did a good job managing the Mixed Brush strokes. We all love VDV. She's awesome. I look forward to seeing your future posts.
Really this was just the same font and one similar, a pic of a foot print, the frozen ice effect that I found on the internet that I like and some tweaks using filters.... So much fun
@paper oriole Really interesting subtle softness to that texture! The colors you used kind of make it look like snow or frost. Really interesting bold look to the text design too, the colors and shapes kind of give it a graffiti looking effect. Nice job on these!
@queen dew Both challenges are looking really good! I like the sort of abstract look with almost touches of what looks to be recognizable rocks or leaves in the first design. Really interesting contrast. The texture came out really nicely as well!
@tired turret There's definitely some interesting textures to be found in fabrics, cool idea! The captured texture makes for an interesting pattern and shape. Nice job!
@simple idol Really cool textures, kind of looks like it'd make a good leaf brush with the tree looking effect it has. The colors definitely add to the feel too. I really like the color and value variation, nice work!
@wooden bloom Ooh, great colors! Kind of a psychedelic effect to it. I really love the detail of the lines and shapes with how much you liquified it. Very strong bold look to this design, nicely done!
@craggy fable Hah, clever idea, even the top text being longer than the bottom works well for that smile effect. The text warp is looking good too. Also, nice job with the candy corn design, very festive idea for this challenge, hah.
@woeful light Great texture in this design! I like the added shadow on the text to give it a clear read, and the separation in texture between the text and the background works nicely too. It could be nice to see a little more separation between the values of the planet shape and the background for a bit more of a clear read. Either the background have a slight glow in the center behind the planet, or a brighter overall planet with a slightly darker background. Just an idea of course. Nice work!
@vivid tulip Really nice job fitting this text into a sort of illustrated format! The foreground shapes and texture add a lot of atmosphere here. Very nice work on the text and the warped yellow texture behind it too. If I had any suggestion it would be that I feel like you could increase the overall side of the center text designs. The text and pumpkin logo also came out great on your other design. Looks good!
@simple idol Definitely some spooky text in this one! I really like the texture and text style in this design. I also like how you used your previous challenge for the "O" in this. The "W" looks a bit sharper and brighter than the rest of the text. It could be nice to sharpen and bright the N and O to match the W, and that way it might look like the Now text is a bit closer to the camera and more in focus, where the Leave would be back slightly further. Just a thought. Nice work!
👍
@compact pecan Very cool, so this was originally a day image? Nicely done! The color in the text really helps it pop against the background. This is a bit of a nitpick, but it might be nice to have the text overlapping the moon completely opaquely, currently it almost looks like the moon is overlapping the text with the faded part of the Y which confuses the depth a bit. Nicely done!
@copper moss I like the texture you got in the Day 4 challenge! The round look almost makes it look like a spooky Halloween ornament, hah. Text is looking good too.
@vast kayak Welcome in, glad you're joining us! There's always extra time where the challenges are replayed so it allows more time for people to work on any challenges they missed. Usually it's 2 weeks of live, 2 of replays, so a month total. But due to Adobe MAX this one is only 1 week, then we have the week of Adobe MAX, then a week of replays. So lots of time! This looks great by the way! Really nice sense of form with these gradients, and the masking adds a nice depth too. Really liking the color and shape variations, well done!
@frail ice Really cool font! The background works really nicely for this design too. My only suggestion is that currently both the text and background have a very similar color and value. It may help it read more clearly if you made the text a little brighter, and the background a touch darker, and maybe tweaked the hue of one of them to stand out a bit more. Looks good!
@hearty quiver I like it! The font around the outside has a spooky look to it and nice job with the text path along the edge of the ghost. The text warp on the center title text is looking really good. Nice job!
@vivid tulip The design variations for the Day 2 challenge came out nice! I like the different colors and I especially like the sort of metallic look to the first design. Nice job with the liquify tool!
@halcyon current Great Halloween theming to this text design! The warping is looking good and the color and texture adds a lot of interest to it. I like the more subtle texture of the dark background too!
@eternal mica Very cool, I like the variation in the styles of these text designs. The first one definitely has an old school horror movie feel to it which is cool. Looks good 👍
@stoic junco Ooh, great font! Really cool feel to it. I'm not sure how much the tilting is the font vs you manually adjusting it but it works very well. It could be nice to tweak the hue of the background to shift slightly more towards purple to separate the bottle from the background a bit more and make it pop. Looks good!
@sour barn Awesome, welcome in! Glad you're joining us. Great to see how much you're playing around with these techniques. There's a nice sense of form to them, especially the big orange "some" text. Nice job!
@vivid tulip I love the texture and form you got in the purple text of the Day 1 challenge! It really adds a lot of interest and contrasts very nicely against the lighter blue of the background. Very nice colors and composition in this design 👍
@thorn geyser Loving this design! Super cool shapes and patterns created here, and the colors look great. I like the added grain which adds a touch of a retro feel, and the bold contrast really makes it pop. Super cool!
@quiet ridge Great font for this design! Really nice job with the textures in the background. The bright orange text contrasts really nicely against the dark background. Nice job with the masking with the mixer brush too 👍
@fresh swallow Cool textures and graphics with the logo you created for this text challenge. I like the colors you used on these to really make them pop from the background. Nice job!
Enjoyed doing this ☝️ 😍
That dripping font you have chosen is amazing! I think the text effect really lends itself to the vibe! Well done!
LOL HI CHRISTY!!! I may be biased but I love this one haha
hey @jolly quest I've been following the challenges and I must say everything has been very energetic and motivating 🙂
it's almost sad it's only 1 week.
looking forward to what today brings 🙂
I love how creative you’ve been with the shape of the text around your ghost! I would also love to know the name of the SPOOKY SCARY font. Very nice 😊
I’m so happy to hear you are enjoying them! It really means a lot to me!!
Oooooooh nice vibe here! Loving how you have incorporated the epic eyeball into the words!
NICE! Great spherical effect there with your texture in the circle. How did you do it? Free transform features or something else?
Woah!! Getting some Cheshire vibes! Nice work Sherry!
Sooooo cool. I would never have thought to use that as a texture! Very clever and creative! Makes for a nice gritty brush indeed!
Great job Biola! I would say it’s a very successful attempt. This texture could easily become a premium foliage asset! It looks like autumn leaves!
Texture Challenge. I took a picture of rosemary mixed with dried flower leaves for texture brush. 2 images.
Use of the texture brush created.
So glad you are loving the challenges! I’m really liking your texture. There’s a lot of detail in there! I’d be curly to see a screenshot of the colors you used for the gradient map. Great job!
EXCELLENT! That made such an awesome texture! I love the way you’ve used it in your piece. Nice work!
Ooohh great textures and I’m loving the effect your created with the text! It’s got a great gritty feel!
No way! Candy corn?? It’s crazy how different it looks in the texture, almost like scales! Epic work. I think it makes a great texture brush too. Keep it up!
It’s like a spooky crystal ball! Awesome texture here. Lookin good!
These are SO GOOD! Really, the colors you have chosen and the way you have presented all of them seriously look like 3D models! Awesome work!!
Nice! The way you have the O in Halloween centered PERFECT. The texture is very well done! I’m curious to know what you took a picture of!
These look great! I think that third on is my favorite! Such a good purple!
This is an awesome concept you have here! You’ve really warped the text to look like hair! I would never have thought to to that! Well done ted!
Ohh great texture! And those colors go together well! I love it!
WOAH 🤯 MIND BLOWN!! Mercurial this could be a seriously epic painting brush if you feel like exploring that route! Well done!
This is so cool! I love how you have masked everything to look like it’s all weaved together. Great job!
Great texture and awesome application of it into a piece! Love it!
WOW great colors and really wonders swirls. This is so cool. Almost like someone spooked up the Matrix!
I’m so happy you enjoyed this challenge so much!! And you have done a truly wonderful job. This texture looks excellent, a success to be sure!
Great colors and great movement! Well done!
Yet another material I would never have thought to make a texture out of! So creative! Thanks for joining me!

STONEY! So many color variations!! I love them!
This is a vibe for sure! Love that you’re combining challenges! Can’t wait to see what you do for challenge 5!
Thank you! 😀

These are both great but that first texture is just chefs kiss it looks like you painted a storm ⛈ ☔️ Epic!!
My pleasure! Keep it up!
NICE!! This is awesome. The textures paired with those colors look holographic!
You’ve created such a clean and crispy texture! Fabulous work!
From bark on a tree to a whole planet!! Great work! I see Jupiter!
That pepper made such a perfect texture, almost like sponged paint! Great job!
Wow! They look like roses! 🌹 🥀 awesome!
So happy you had fun! And your window texture really made a great asset! Keep it up!
HAHAHAHA THIS IS JUST PERFECT! And uh… surprisingly TEETH-like! Creepy and wonderful!
WOAH these seriously look like sample images for an expensive asset pack!! I love them. I wish I had made them myself!! Great work.

Sam, thanks a lot. I used the brush we did in DCC. That was great brush to give texture onto the solid colors. I have learned all these tricks here thanks to you guys.

For texture I used the round brush that we created with VooDoo. And dab-dab on rotation by it on the solid colors of the shape. Also used wind effect on each shapes inside the crystal ball. Thank you, Ted!

I had to make my animation file smaller in order to post to Discord but you can export your larger cleaner versions at a bigger size for post to social media!
ALSO! If you are having trouble with visibility of the final squiggle because you duplicated the top squiggle to fade back into that color, remember that the duplicated asset is a copy! Make sure to turn the opacity back up so its visible!
Great animation and...

Gave +1 Creative Carma to @jolly quest
Happy Halloween, everyone!
Here's what I did for todays challenge and it's containing all the challenges this week... #1 - the pumpkin is made with the mixer brush, #2 - the gradient & liquify challenge was used to make the background, #3 - texture - I reused the texture I made from my morning coffee and applied it to every other letter in the text, #4 is obviously the text and the fading border (in & out) is the animation for today (#5). The only think I didn't follow was to export - render video. I made a GIF instead and to get the animation to loop now which is a part of the effect I wanted to create. Thank you @jolly quest for all the great challenges you shared with us. I learned a lot even though I've been using Photoshop for several years 🙂
Text Lock-up. (Is that the right term?) How would you make the type show up better? I reduced saturation and brightness on the backgrounds some, but didn't want to completely get rid of that beautiful brilliant red. A bolder script for the last phrase would've been better, but I really like the realistic pen look of this one. How could I add that effect to a plain font? Ideas?
Textures ,submitting late
Final Challenge
Make a copy of your design. Work with the copy. Open up your layer style panel, make a cup of hot cocoa, start at the top, and work your way through. Your text is perfect for some bevel, some inner glow, multiple strokes, drop shadow. Don't be shy. Go for it. When you find what you like, you'll know it.
Thanks! Will do. No try. I especially like the hot cocoa part.

Hi Ted, I corrected the spelling mistake. However no matter what I do I am not able to start the text from the top. If you can tell me how to move the text along the path in photoshop that would be great for me. thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
If you click on the path with the shape adjustment tool, you will see a two headed arrow. Click and drag the arrow along the path and the text will adjust. (I'm not at my computer. I believe on my toolbar it's the arrowhead shaped icon below the shape tool.)
Tool your advise and tried to make it look metallic. This is my first attempt to make something look metallic. I am not sure I succeeded. - umr
Promo animation challenge - The final result. I had to test and play before I at least got it close to what I wanted it to be. I'm not happy with the fact that you can't loop a mp4 file. #1 mixer brush - pumpkin, #2 gradient effect & liquify - the background, #3 patterns - the pattern in the text, #4 - promo text "Happy Halloween" and at last #5 - promo animation - all the moving & changing stuff. I rendered a video in the format 750 x 750 and then resized to 600 x 600 and created a GIF file out of it and I thought I would upload both of them. Thank you @jolly quest for all the great challenges. It sure intrigued me to learn more about animation on my own.

@hearty quiver The first one already had a metallic look from the earlier versions. You definitely enhanced that look on the other two images
@hearty quiver I think you succeeded with the metallic look. I see at least a couple of faces in this one. It's so fun with those abstract images. I like the colors too.
thanks

finally got it to work, thanks umr
Really solid tweak. I think it looks much better. One point you might consider next time you do type on a path. If the path is around a shape/object, you may want to create the path several pixels beyond the shape. This way the letters that hang below the line will have room without being impacted by the underlying shape.
Thanks, will remember that next time. Umr

@stone wigeon Cool idea for your Animated Promo. The text on a path is well done. Nice job by you.
@burnt pike Good job with your textures exercise. Bubble wrap is a good idea. Your presentation of the brushes you created is very well done.
@tropic knoll Awesome work on the Texture exercise. Interesting how you used the prior exercises to make your total design. Its so cool how all these techniques can be brought together to make a really creative design.
@dusky wave Good effort with the Promo Text exercise. I would suggest you increase the size of the font to make them the focal point of your design. And for the text on a path, review the kerning. Often, the letters get crunched up. Sometimes the spacing needs to be done letter by letter.
Challenge #3 - Creating Textures & Brushes using Adobe Capture! I am having much-too-much fun with this one - and am still playing around with all the textures~ I captured~ But here are the first three textures/brushes I have created for this Challenge!
I really love the crackled effect and how it looks a bit like bubbles of floating web when modified as a brush!
While playing around with second texture, I learned that I can use the ctrl-click (layer icon)-trick to select the stamp after placing it, apply gradients, filters, and more, then save a new brush with the applied values & texture-filters!
On the final texture that I am sharing - I focused more on turning it in an actual usable brush and love the effects it has on the overall feel & colorization of the brush!
Aaaah, so many possibilities 😊
@hollow yarrow Such a cool Animated Promo. The blinking text is great. And the cartoonish effect of the black letters works really. Good job by you.
@lucid plover Cool idea for your GIF. Im not sure how it relates to the challenge, but I always enjoy seeing your work.
@quiet fern Nice work developing the different Gradient patterns. They each have a distinct look. I would tweak each of them with a curves adjustment layer to increase the contrasts and highlights in each image. Good job.
@quiet fern The same comment could be made about your KB texture exercise. I would suggest that the design could be made easier to see the elements if you added brightness/contrast to the over all design.
@eternal mica - I have got no idea how to what you are describing to do in kerning.
@calm pond Youre not too late. This series will be rerun during the week on 11/01-11/05. Nice work on the Mixed Brush exercise. Nice color palette and nice work masking the stroke.
I reviewed Sam's GIF challenge from earlier this month. Inspired by this week's final challenge - here's my spooky house.
Heres an example which might explain it better. I created a path and typed Lorem Ipsum along the path then made a copy of it. In the top sample I highlighted the red text to show how the letters fall on top of each other. In the second version, I used the Character properties panel to spread out the letters I highlighted in green. I also manually inserted a space between the U and the M. If you still need help, DM me.
@paper oriole Super Animation Promo. Having seen your earlier posts, its easy to see how you incorporated them into this final exercise.
@calm pond Very nice Gradient pattern. I always have a preference for bright high contrast images, so I like the top left. The pattern is interesting.
@worn venture Good work on the Textures exercise. The brush you created has good interest and could be very flexible for future use.
@wary swan I love this Promo Text design. Your work on the various texts is really well done. The V2 highlights and coloring are a big improvement.
@prisma stone Awesome Animated Promo. Great concept. Great execution. The detail work is very well done. Great job by you.
@last mica Good job with your Animated Promo. You incorporated a number of the techniques from the earlier challenges into the animation. Good effort by you.
@hearty quiver Cool work with the Textures design. The pattern you created looks like it will be pretty flexible and useful going forward. I like how you used a few of the prior challenge techniques in the Animated Promo. The tweaks you made to the gradients looks good. I think you enhanced that metallic look on the Gradient patterns.
@vivid tulip Very cool concept on your Animated Promo. The motion you created is captivating. The way only the text fill has motion is a very interesting application. Great job by you.
@worn venture Good work creating the multiple texts on a path. It may be your intention to have the dark over all feel to the design, but I would suggest you create a lot more contrast for the text to stand out from the dark BG. I would especially do that to the center text, to make that the focal point of your image.
@vast kayak The whole purpose of the DCC is to acquaint creatives with new ways to use the Adobe Ps tools. Not knowing where to take the process, is the essence of learning. Your application of the texture and the brush both look really great. And it is fun!! Keep experimenting. Just as a suggestion, I would apply curves adjustment layers to the gradients. See how you like the enhanced intensity it might create. The brush looks like you created something youre going to proud to use in the future. Good work.
@frail ice Good job with your Promo Animation. You got to show a number of the earlier techniques. My one tweak would be to extend the video to a bit longer than 3 seconds so that the motion is slowed down a bit.
@lethal prism Nice job displaying your mixed brush strokes in the promo animation. I think I might have masked the strokes completely behind the text, but thats just my personal preference.
@quiet ridge I agree. VDV was rushed at the end and forgot to say to shrink down the file size when we render the video. It looks like you figured it out. You created nice smooth transitions from color to color in your video. The video has a nice pulsing feeling to it. Good work.
@craggy fable Really well done GIF. I like the multiple techniques from the earlier challenges that you incorporated into the animation. The transitions are smooth and seamless. Good work
@frosty monolith You created a nice texture. It looks like it has a lot of usability. The application to the design you posted works well. I might play with the BMs to see if I can get the texture to be more visible against the overall pattern.
@copper moss The MP4 works fine. Your choice of images and brush strokes work well. The rhythm of the color changes is seamless and smooth. Good work.
@wary swan I love the animation. The addition of sound is a cool touch.
Thanks. I did use the texture on the next one too. 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@sour egret Cool job with your animation. Creative application with the mock up. I would have liked to see you extend the animation a bit.
For some reason, things are darker on discord and behance than on my pc. I put the texture on there to make the background have a little grey but it didn't show up as much as it should have. I'll have to revisit it. Is there a page i can go to to check my screen calibration? Thank you for your feedback. 🙂
@neon crystal Very cool animation. I would suggest you use some BMs on the texture to help it blend more into the underlying layers. And Id like to see the moon end up on top of the texture in the final frames.
@quiet fern Good design for the Promo Text. I might increase the size of the ellipse and path text to make them more legible.
I’m waiting to see if anyone zooms in to read what I typed on the paths 😁👍🏼😁
Using the video frame timeline was a bit beyond me today .. will try with something simpler ... made the figure in illustrator ( and the 'pumpkin' is an 🍊 ! ) btw there's only two flashes .. definitely needs to be smoother lol
@frail ice Cool Process GIF. A lot of people seem to have enjoyed that and used it since, including me!!! Because theres so much to see in each step of your process, I might increase the time of the individual frames to give them a longer view.
@onyx field Dont be so hard on yourself. You did fine. I would make one suggestion. Increase the time for all the frames so they can viewed longer. That way we can appreciate what you add in each step of the process.

@queen dew Very cool, I like how far you took this challenge! The glitch effect along with the color variations adds a lot of interest. Nice job keeping the background lower contrast to really let the design pop. Looks good!
@frosty monolith I like it! The gradient color shift and the texture in this pattern add a really cool look to this design. I really like the mirrored look and texture of your text design too. Very nice work!
@light scroll Neat idea for an animation! Frame by frame animation can definitely be tricky and a lot of work. It could be neat to see a few frames before the splash of something falling in to create the splash (just a circle really). Nicely done!
Yeah
@quiet fern Looks good! I like how it goes from a color shift to a fade out. The animation has a great smooth look to it as well. The design looks great, the text works really well and stands out against the background. The warped text design came out really nicely too, I like the texture. Well done 👍
@young karma This came out really well, I like the colors and texture in your liquify design. The pacing of the animation has a cool sudden pulsating look which adds some nice interest. Cool to see music added as well, nice job!
@wary swan Really nice work for all the different techniques in this challenge! I especially like how far you took the last animation challenge by syncing the text and skeleton up to the audio. Very cool!
@chilly hawk Great fonts and textures in this design! The bold green and orange work well against the desaturated, dark background. Looks good!
@long geyser Hah, very cool, nice job blending the two images together. The texture looks good too 👍
@quiet ridge Nice work on the animation challenge. I like the mix between the color shifts and the text movement. Nicely done!
@compact pecan Really nice job with the smooth transition in this animation, and the way the triangle unites the two images works really nicely. I also really like the strong, clear contrast against the dark background. Looks good!

I feel like I could do more with this to improve - but the night is sneaking up on me and Adobe Max is tomorrow - so I shall share my progress and draw this part of the challenge to a close for now! Here are some samples from Challenge 4 - Promo Text!
I have night-mode turned on on my PC, so colors/values are a bit different on my side! I may revisit this 👀
It definitely feels like it's missing something from the lower half - and the values feel a bit off for me with the backdrop I used! (A texture captured of my Strangler Fig Bonsai 🌿)
I like the feel so far, but definitely know it needs some work still.

Still catching up! Day 3 Texture Brushes
Promo Animation Challenge
I was playing a bit while watching MAX and this is what I came up with... The image is my daughter who made this mask as a creative project in school exactly 4 years ago. I reuse it in one way or another every Halloween. I used 2 of the challenges from last week - #2 and #5.
Day 4 Text
I dont know how many of you are participating in MAX, but if youre not, youre really missing some amazing presentations. I strongly suggest you log in and check it out. Most of the streams I have watched have been OUTSTANDING.
@eternal mica I couln’t agree more! Those I’ve seen were great! I watced MAX on one screen and created on the other 🙃
I just watch the sessions during MAX. Theres too much for me to absorb to try and work while learning. After its over, I go back to the ones I want to review and watch them in detail. Many have full PDF downloads with notes/slides/etc. Incredible. Its a treasure trove of information.
Self Portrait Image Traced w/ Texture.
@eternal mica That's what I plan to do too and all those downloads are pure gold. I wasn't working with stuff related to MAX. I often have to do things with my hands to be able to concentrate any longer times. It might be drawing doodles on paper, or editing photos or anything that helps me concentrate. We all have different ways to learn 🙂
I just watched one of the most remarkable applications of photography ands Adobe apps I have ever seen. https://www.adobe.com/max/2021/sessions/playful-experiments-with-the-photographic-medium-s718.html
☝🏽 this might be more appropriate for a different channel - maybe #🔥tips-and-tricks?
@compact pecan The speaker used various Adobe apps, including Ps. In my view, the presentation was unique and inspirational. Seeing as the DCC was pretty much shut down, I thought I could offer creatives a very out of the box presentation that would be hard to find anywhere else.
@quiet ridge Nice work on the three GIF for your animation. Fun idea to add the text popping up in the corners.
@chilly hawk Good job with the text on your promo text exercise. Your font choice i s really cool. One tiny tweak Id make is that the elements you added have a pasted on digital look. I might have them blend in to the BG image better.
@wary swan Thank you for posting your Behance portfolio. It looks great.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @wary swan
@young karma Good job with the type on a path design. I would make two suggestions. To make the round text read better, increase the font size of the path type so that the extra "spooky" is dropped off at the bottom of the circle. I might pick a color more compatible with the purple BG for the text fill. The cyan is a bit hard on the eyes. Very cool GIF. I especially like the addition of the sound. The color changes blend nicely and the timing works. Good work all around.
@frosty monolith Your Promo text is cool. I would make a few suggestions. I would increase the font size to fill much more of the palette. The character in the middle is barely discernable. And I would be wary about reverse text. Especially on a word like "treat" where it be may interpreted by the reader as more of a spelling error than a design aspect. I like the tweak you made to the texture design. I might add a curves adjustment layer to enhance the contrast and highlights. Your Promo Animation works well. I like the orange type offset against the green BG. Good effort by you on this series of challenges.
@simple idol Your tweak on the gradient design made your first spooky design even spookier. I love the dark sinister vibe of the blue/green palette. And your tweak on the eyeball design is right on the money!!
@tropic knoll Your Process GIF for the texture is excellent. It does a great job of telling a story. The text explanation is a great idea. I might suggest you try extending the time on each slide 0.5 seconds to see if the that makes it easier to read the text without slowing down the animation too much. See what you think.
@fresh swallow Really cool Promo Animation. I love the color palette, the BG image, and the music. I would suggest one tweak. I would have the text opacity at 0 in the opening and grow to 100% about 50% way through the animation. Try it out, see how you like it.
Will do! Thanks for the feedback back @eternal mica !!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@vast kayak Nice job with manipulating the text. Your clipped text fill works well. I guess it all depends on what the story you want to tell with these designs is, but my thinking would be to increase the contrast of the text layers to give them more pop from the BG layers. What do you think?
This is not a chat for displaying or selling personal artwork. This chat is for discussion of the work related to the Adobe DCC. Thank you.
@tired turret Really awesome animation. I love the audio. The pace works. The images are super. I might tweak the transitions a little bit to make them more of a cross dissolve fade out fade in rather than the hard cut., especially on the opening slide.
@thorn geyser Very well done Texture Brushes. You created some beautiful samples. They look like tree bark. Are they? These are very practical brushes you should be able to put to good use in the future. Your Promo texture is well done. The fonts you selected have real character t them. Your text on the path is well done.
@chilly hawk Solid job on the Promo Animation. The design is cool and the animation you added has a nice smooth pace to it. Id make one tweak. Since the other aspects of the GIF fade in and out, Id do the same to the text rather than have it have a hard cut to pop on the screen.
@tough arrow Cool design for the gradient exercise. I like the pop and colors in the green tinted one. Id suggest you add a curves adjustment layer and BMs to the darker one to play with the contrast and highlights of the colors. Nice effort.
Hi @eternal mica. Thank you!! Question, are you saying to leave each scene on longer? The scenes are at 1.5 currently. Saw you in a couple chats at MAX. This was my first time at MAX. WOW!

Depending on what the slide shows and the amount of text a viewer has to read, 1.5 can be too long, just right, or too short. Im thinking, because you have your design and text for the viewer to read, I would test to see how comfortable I am in reading the text, and ensure the slide is visible long enough to allow the reader to do that. On yours, I felt most slides slipped by before I was able to view and read the entire line of text.
This was my second MAX. I think it was awesome. Over the 2.5 days, I watched 16 hours of sessions. Some were mind blowing. I learned so much. Saw so many fantastic presentations. My main takeaway above all else is with the new Lr enhancements (mobile/gradients/presets), I am going to use that way more than ever before. What did you enjoy?
@lethal prism Cool design! I like the simple two-tone graphic style of it, and the texture adds some nice interest. Looks good!
@tough arrow I like the variation between these two liquify designs! Really nice colors, I especially like the metallic/liquid look of the second, green image. I like the grain in the first one, though it might be nice to give it a bit of a brightness boost with a levels adjustment? Nicely done 👍
@thorn geyser This Day 4 challenge came out great! I really like the combination of colors, sizes and fonts, there's a nice balance to it. The Halloween texture as well as the background texture add a lot of interest too. Great gradients and textures in the brush challenge as well!
@halcyon current Ooh, very creepy! I like the pop of red in the mask and text against the cooler colored background. The animation with the lightning and flash looks great, nice job!
@chilly hawk The animation is looking good, I like the various elements you animated here. Nice work!
@frosty monolith Nicely done, the animation looks good! I like the separation in the background between the closer/bigger shapes and the out of focus background shapes. The orange texture reads really well against the background too!
@tired turret Really cool texture shifting with the background. Definitely makes for an interesting and creepy effect. The sound effects are a nice touch too!
@vast kayak I like all the color variations with this design! The circle texture contrasts nicely against the background texture, and the font has a great look to it. I especially like the color combination of the last blue/green design.
@fresh swallow The animation is looking good! I like the fade in of the smoke and the sound effects are a nice added touch. 👍
Thanks @bleak fossil ! It was my first time using Premiere Rush.

@tacit mortarB. I enjoyed every bit of MAX. The Mainstage, Imagine Dragons, the speakers, the sessions but most of all the High that embraced me. I felt empowered, uplifted, supported, encouraged, inspired and committed. What an incredible gift we were given and able to experience. I appreciate all you do for me. And I wish you an incredible year of creating!
I know exactly how you felt. Im still bubbling over from MAX.
Your comments and wishes are so kind. Thank you. Over the last few months, as I've moved into the role of mentoring people, I've met so many amazing, wonderful, friendly people. (I count you in that group.) The rewards are greater than the effort.

Thanks! They are a variety of textures from around my house including wood grain, leather, carpet. I took so many using Capture that I can't actually remember where the larger texture came from!

@wary swan RIP Photoshop 3D. At least the 3D features in Illustrator are looking quite cool!
@solemn bane Nice job with the text effects! The arched warp and the text along the circle path are both looking good. Perhaps the text could be even a little brighter to stand out against the background? It might also be nice to crop the image so the design is more in the center, though that's a bit of a nitpick. Nicely done!
@lethal prism Ooh, really cool texture on this liquify design! It gives it a sort of a metallic look with a sort of rough/textured finish. The contrast between the light and dark tones gives it a great look. Nice job!
I got you
Believe it or not 3D still work on my 23.0 version but it's a bug and it will maybe be gone next update, it save as a After Effect Photoshop psd file. I had a chat with the support he consider my lucky it still work. I agree with you that 3D in AI work very nice and I think it's better than PS to use.
[Day 5 Challenge - Promo Animation/Opacity Transitions:]
This was definitely fun to play with! I wanted to convert this to a GIF with more ease - but was not sure how to do so, so I uploaded the MP4 to Giphy for now! Planning to modify this a bit, possibly play with adding some animated faery-lights to it via Fresco!
I'm not sure if there is a way to combine this neat shimmer/color transition from the Photoshop Timeline with Fresco (receiving an error message in Fresco that says they are currently incompatible) So if anyone has tips for combining Photoshop timeline with Fresco Motion - please let me know!
I am new to the challenges, is there a certain time every day that this is live streamed? Im working through the latest Challenge and im on the Day 4 video. Are these every day or just this challenge itself ends tomorrow and a new one starts soon? Thanks!
Challenge One
9:00 AM Pacific. Monday-Friday for two weeks. Then they replay it at the same time the following two weeks. Monday will be an intro day (no official challenge). We usually just work on the Behance Cover Graphic the very first day.
They also do Illustrator challenges at 11:30
A new challenge series starts Monday 11/08 at 9:00 AM PST. There will be 10 days of live streams then two weeks of replays. This is the landing page to watch/follow the challenges. https://www.behance.net/challenge/photoshop
Thank you!!! Im excited!!
Challenge Two
And we’ll have the myth and legend Paul Trani as the host !!
Challenge Three
@eternal mica I'm so happy to get new challenges to play with. I have been wondering when they would start again.
Challenge Promo Text. Enjoyed this one to improve my Text Skills. I looked up some "Creepy Color Palettes" on Google for the coloring and added some Adobe Stock , and my own photos. Hope I got the coloring right. Enjoyed. P.S. Found I had to get the Type properties Panel instead of the Character Panel as the Character Panel would not expand. Thanks @jolly quest

Youre in for a treat. Paul Trani is going to be leading this series. Paul is one of the most popular Livestreamers in Adobeworld. His tutorials are usually chock full of tips and tricks, very inspiring, very well received by the viewers. I hope you enjoy them.
Challenge Four
Cannot wait for these!
Have you ever watched a PT stream???
Yes, one was a Master Class on Surrealism plus a few others earlier in my video tutorial searches before finding these live streams.
@vast kayak Good work on the Promo Animation. I might suggest you add a curves adjustment layer to add contrast to the elements in your design and add pop to the overall image.
@tropic garnet Interesting sequence of designs for the last challenge series. It looks like you intentionally held a color theme through all the designs. Cool idea. Your mixer brush has good colors and a good contrast between the two sides of the design. Im not usre if you intended to split the colors down the middle or not, but you might use th guides to get a more exact 50% separation. Your created a an interesting flowing design for your gradient design. The colors blend nicely, and they work well with the texture you created in design 3. Your font choice in design 4 is interesting and the effects you added to the text look cool. Nice work all around.
@wooden bloom Interesting work on the Promo Text. One suggestion Id make is the adjust the text on a path. I would suggest colors that have more contrast to the BG and to decrease the stroke so that the letters have more room to breathe. This will make them more legible.
Thanks.

Day 0 😅
The new Daily Challenges unlock the day after, yes? Mine says not until Oct 9…
@quiet fern Correct, the first challenge will be revealed tomorrow. Are you on this page? https://www.behance.net/challenge/photoshop And did you try refreshing it?
Yes - I check there daily. The first new one is dated for tomorrow - ahhhhhhhhh - I see why - the Challenge that is posted now is Challenge 0, thats why 😉 THANK YOU!!! 😉
@quiet fern Yeah, the Welcome Day stream doesn't count and the first one will be revealed tomorrow. Not sure why it says a different date for you, but it should still appear tomorrow I imagine. 👍

Day 0 - I am so excited to participate in this challenge
I rearranged my result for today to fit as a header for my Behance Project for this series of challenges.
I think both look good, @halcyon current! I think I might prefer the letters to be a little darker, though, to help the text stand-out from the background.
I love the color palette you used with the yellow/orange and the dark green. I say make your text a bit larger so that it is more of the focus of the image. Nicely done!
To make a banner you might want to try 1,000 pxl X 400 pxl image size. The size for Behance cover image is 808 x 632.
Really cool twist on your banner with the cars! I think I might reduce the opacity of the background or a different technique to mute the background a touch so the text is easier to read. A quick adjustment that could really improve the overall look of the design. 👍🏼
@compact pecan Thank you. Yes I think you're right. I'll have to check up on that!

@eternal mica I noticed that when trying to upload my first result as a header.
#challenge0 - Daily Challenge 0
I've not done a Photoshop Challenge for over a year and I'm rusty. Made my Behance project cover this evening.
Well done! Love the depth with parts of letter masked by Leaves👍
Great "coming back" take! I like how you played with torn paper to hide some parts of the title and date. Looks nice!
I love this!!!
Oh my, how Ive missed all you folks!!! So happy to be back with everyone. And having PT again!!! What a treat.

Thanks for the feedback. What's your say about this one?

hi there!
Yes! I think your changes really make the text clear and separate from the background. I like how you still kept a good bit of the background - and the portions you kept are great - and now the viewer can see both elements but they aren’t competing to be the prominent feature.
I really like the extra pattern on the text. It kind of reminds me of a camouflage-type pattern, but more importantly, I think it really helps to make the “mood” of the image as autumn. Nice addition of the drop shadow as well - it really helps to separate the text from the background.
My Behance project header
My first challenge in a few months - very glad to get back to it.
Hello designers. I decided to create my own fall background for the cover. Made a brush and gradient background. I reserve the right to change my mind later 😌
Day 1 Warm up. For my Behance Project Cover, I will re-size it to 808x632 so it fits nicely in the Behance search pages.
I really like the addition of wood in the middle. It really reminds me of Thanksgiving. The extra "umph" in the leaves really makes my eye go to your image.
that's a fantastic background! I love the gradient combined with the leaves that create a subtle frame around the text. I really like the two falling leaves! It draws my eye right to the text. Very Nicely Done!! 👏🏽
You are so kind @compact pecan Thank you for taking the time to give me feedback. I appreciate it.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @compact pecan
Nice choice of images to create the panorama-like heading for your project! I think the bottom line of text gets a little lost because it's directly along the horizon line and through the brightest part of the image. Maybe moving it slightly lower to contrast with the dark browns of the ground would help it to stand out a bit more.
What a great spin to the fall theme! The motion is a really nice addition, although I think I would slow it down just a little so it draws the eye across the text and forces the viewer to read the text.
Very nice! It looks like maybe you added a gradient map. The complimentary red/green combo really makes the entire image pop. Very nicely done!
Nice job! To change the background size, go to Image-Canvas Size and you can change the dimensions. Another way you could do it is to use the crop tool -- just make sure "Delete Cropped Pixels" on the top banner is unchecked. Then, you can use the "handles" to bring in both the left and right side to align with the photo.
This is very nice! It's very "classy" (best adjective I could come up with). I like that the bottom line of text is just slightly wider than the top line and goes along the same shape as the leaves making the frame around the title.
@eternal mica, I'm loving the trip-tick type of layout! Are some/all of these your own images? I think having the two ends out of focus really draws my eye to the center image, but it also makes the text stand out and easy to read. You definitely captured the "Autumn" feel. Very nice!
😀
@compact pecan very good point and thank you for your insight
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @compact pecan
Fantastic, @tepid swan! I love the addition of the torn paper and the handwritten look of the font you used. I think you have a really good use of space - nothing seems crowded. Welcome back to the DCCs! I think the "rust" already shook off!! 👍🏽
Your text looks great, and I love how you have some of the leaves coming through the text. It really gives the overall image some really good feeling of "depth". Are all the leaves already gone in Boston by now?
Really nice choice of images for the background! The blur is perfect to allow the viewer to know what it is, and it gives context to the Autumn feeling that you're conveying.
Your next two are really nice with the gradient maps! The red/orange gives me a stronger autumn feel, but the green/purple one really pops! Nice color choices!
tweaked
Thank you. The center image is mine, of a famous photography spot in Central Park. I didnt want to distort it to fit the banner, so I added an adobe stock image as BG to fill the banner, blurred it so it wouldnt compete with my focal point main image.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @compact pecan
@last mica Interesting effort with the banner. I would make one suggestion. Blur the BG to give more contrast between it and the type, especially since your font is incomplete letters. Otherwise it becomes too difficult to read.
@halcyon current Welcome back to you. Nice soft look to the cover image and the banner. Using the wavy text is a nice touch. I might enhance the drop shadow a little bit more to add definition to the text against the BG.
@upper trail We're excited to have you join us!!! Im looking forward to see your posts as we move into the challenges. Nice clean crisp design for your banner. I like the way the leaves frame your message. One tiny tweak, how about aligning the two lines of text so that they form a nice rectangular space??
@quiet fern Nice work masking your message. You hid a good amount of text but still left enough for the message to be read easily. Good effort by you.
@tepid swan Welcome back. We're happy youve decided to rejoin the group. Lovely composite. Definitely gives off an Autumn vibe. Your shadows are awesome, adding a lot of realism to the design. The main text has the look of chalk on a blackboard. Very well done. Good work by you.
@cerulean creek Nice clean crisp warm effect to this image. The main text has a warm shimmer to it, almost picking up sunlight from the leaves. Really looks cool (or is it "warm"??? LOL)
@paper shadow @compact pecan gave you one technique to alter the image size. another you might consider, since the size of the items in your picture can be varies, si to just stretch out the image to fit the banner. A third idea, copy selections from the image and paste them to each end.
@gaunt wagon I saw that same image in Adobe stock and almost used it myself. Great choice. And I love what you did with it. I like the two fonts you used. The combination works well. One suggestion you might try, increase the size of the Photoshop font to be balanced over the DCC line. It may be too far a stretch, but maybe not.
@last mica @compact pecan gave you pretty much the same suggestion that I did. This works a lot better. I would center the text.
Have not been on Discord for a while. Hope to be able to do all the challenges this time.
@cerulean grove Nice effort with the banner. You might think about creating more contrast between the text and the BG image, especially as it relates to the thinner font. You can do this by changing the color of the text, blurring the BG image, stressing the drop shadow more, etc.
Hello. Day 0 Warm up.
@quiet ridge Welcome back. By now, Ive learned, wait for the repost before I comment, haha. I like your idea. The slower GIF is fun. I might suggest a different fill color on the text. I think the color you have doesnt blend easily with the warm autumnal feel of the rest of the image. And Id tone down the layer effects on the text to allow the text to be more legible. Sometimes less is more. (BTW: spelling error in "CREATINE")
@dusky wave Very nice work. Definitely a Thanksgiving Day feel to this one. The simple embossed red text fits the overall feel of the image. What does that blue icon stand for (Just kidding)!!!!
@spark ledge Welcome back. We're happy to see youre back in the group. Very interesting banner image. I like the way you masked the line across the bottom third of the image. I would tweak two things. I would center the top line text, and I would use a different fill color on the bottom line so that the white of the sun doesnt wash out the text.
@eternal mica VooDooVal has nothing on me with spelling errors lol Thank you for pointing it out
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@simple idol Awesome design. Your brush is terrific. Definitely DO NOT change it later!!! 😂 😂 The gradient BG and color palette of the design is spot on. I would tweak one thing, by changing the color of the bottom line text fill. I think it could use a darker shade to add a bit more contrast with the BG. (BTW, you have an extra 1 at the end of your date.)
@compact pecan I love this design. The sunlight literally jumps off the page. I love the transparent leaves masked over the text. The stroke is subtle and well done. Good work, my friend.
@digital pike Its always nice to see variations on a theme. Good work on the three submissions. I like the first one for the simplicity and the warm feel. I like the depth created by the blurred BG and the two front overhanging leaves. The second image adds the fiery feel of real autumn leaves, but loses some of the depth. the third gives off a completely different almost spooky vibe.
@haughty gale We also hope you get to do all nine challenges. Youre off to a great start. I like the image you selected. It definitely fits the bill as a Fall feel. I would suggest giving the text a bit more pop to help it send a stronger message. Its tough to do with script text and an image as busy as yours. Id try some additional stroke layers, some more drop shadows as a start.
Thank you @eternal mica hands off! I’ll change the text color only 😂. C🥰
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@young karma Very nice image. I like the feel of the blueish image and the gold text fill. The stroke definitely helps the text be legible. I might go with 100% opacity on the second line of text, as it gets a bit hard to read on the left side with the bright BG image showing through.
Daily Challenge Warm-Up....My first time doing a challenge.
@fast forum Welcome. We're so happy youve decided to try the DCC. We know youre going to have a ton of fun and learn a lot. Very nice start with this banner. It has a beautiful warm sunlit feel to it. The masking of the text behind the leaves is a nice touch. Good work by you.
Thanks, @eternal mica! The photo is mine - early in the morning backlit leaves.
