Hi @bleak fossil. Thank you for your reviw. A change the color to give more contrast and a more nice look.

Day 5 - Effects and colors (dragon - because of dragon fruit I used)
@shell flame Hello, are you new to the DCC/Discord chat? If so, let me know. I assume your can mockup is for the Clipping Mask exercise. Nicely done. The patterns you clipped work well, as does the orange color overlay. That adds good cohesion with the shape fill you added on the bottom. The stroke and textures make the design more interesting. And HI back to you!!! Your HI is also well done. One small tweak I would consider is to alter the BG layer color so as to create more contrast with the black from the top can fill. Good work.
@knotty cosmos Nice work with the wind blur effect. The design colors are eye catching. It looks like you enhanced the blur with liquify, especially on the drink name. Did you? Good job if you did. I couldnt tell for sure but it looks like you duplicated the BG texture on the can and on the BG layer, changing the scale. If you did, it worked.
@faint beacon Cool effect with the wind blur. I like the offset blue fruit, it adds a lot to the design. Adding the blur to the drink name also worked. The BG layer texture works well, though I might consider a different color for it, something more cohesive with the can design. Im not sure adding the blur to the smile worked so well. Maybe its a bit weird. But maybe thats just me. It could be the look you were going for.
@vital niche Welcome. We're happy you decided to join our group. If you need help figuring things out or finding your way around, just ask. We're here to help. One quick tip, when you post an image, please let us know which exercise it relates to. It gets confusing on our end when we get into the later stages of the DCC and folks are submitting designs for all the different exercises. I will assume your design is for the Live Shapes from Day 1. Your design is crisp and clean. Using the colors from the bottom pineapple for the design on the top is a good idea. I like that you colored the can to match your color palette. I would suggest a bolder more exciting font choice, and breaking the drink name up into multiple lines of text. I might even go with a different color for the black band. All in all, a very strong initial effort.
@young karma I sure hope you were trying to create a face, 'cause it sure looks like one!!! Cool design. I think the wind blur effect worked on the white in the center, but perhaps you could push the blur effect a bit more on the green shapes. Up to you.
@slender stream Ha, so cool. The variations are very well done. But why are the pineapple shapes so small? Your designs are so cool, why not make them fill up the canvas?
@deep mango Haha, this design definitely works. Your wind blur effect is well done. The face you added works. The white text fill carries over the white from the face. One small nit pick I would make is seeing as grumpy is your goal, wouldnt wind blur down (grumpy) work better than wind blur up (smiley)? Just a thought.
@eternal mica Thank you very much... Yes you are right I added liquify tool to both the wind blur and the drink name text... I didn't understand what you wrote about the backgrounds but they are two different photos with green background under them and I changed the layer mode until I got good looking colors
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
You're right @eternal mica, I tried the blast wind in both directions but it would go up, so at one point I began seeing it as if the grapes has a spiky "hair" 😄
@tropic garnet A surfing snail, how cool!!! You worked the layers very well. The way you embedded the surf board in the green wave is well done. I especially like the blurred edges on the wave, it adds realism. I might lower the intensity of the blue sky a bit, as its a bit dominating. One small tweak I'd make is to perhaps replace the yellow in the bottom elements with the blue from the sky. It might look more cohesive than the the yellow, which isnt in the anywhere in the design.
@queen aspen Good work with the wind blur in this design. The bubbles also add a real sense of upward motion to the design. One tweak I would suggest is to use a curves adjustment layer to enhance the brightness and contrast of the fruit layer from the can BG. I think the design will really "explode" with a more dramatic central fruit.
Ok I will try again Next the Try to be large
@slender stream If you have the time, give it a try now and repost. Its a quick easy fix with Ctrl T. There is no rule that an exercise image can only be posted once. 😃
Ps daily challenge 5 Revenge version
Thanks, @eternal mica. I think you're right. I saw that there has to be more of fruit but didn't know to do it. I'll try with curves.

Revised Day1 Challenge
I think i managed to make the wind blast go down @eternal mica 🙂
Thank you @bleak fossil …I like to just grab an image and see how it would work, probably not the best image for marketing a drink, but had fun anyway 😁
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@queen aspen Dont forget to clip the curves adjustment layer to the fruit so it only effects that layer.

Challenge 5 Effects & Color
Thanks @eternal mica. I meant to add a levels adjustment to the sky but forgot. I also thought about changing the color, but I considered changing the outer glow to yellow.

thank you! I actually ended up using the pineapple bc the effect wasn't showing up well on the lime

Thanks a lot Ted😁

@keen sinew Nice effort on Transform exercise. The checkerboard looks great. The gradient BG layer is well done. I like the monochromatic feel to the whole design. My one nit pick would be that there is no clear focal point. The berries are too small and dark to be it. Perhaps increase their size and brightness to make them a bit more prominent. What do you think?
Good point.
My design for adjustment layers challenge 🍓
Good morning all!!

I dig all the extra stuff you did for the space theme. It adds a lot. Amazing work.
Thank you

Here's my edited can for challenge #2
I had trouble with the first challenge. If i have blue as my background and i use a blend mode, how do i put the space picture on it without interfering with the color of my planet?
just drag and drop it over your background. It shouldn't be a problem I guess
The space picture changes the planet's color.
@worn venture Im not sure I understand your issue exactly, but the key in Ps is to have different elements on different layers. If you add an effect to layer, it will only effect that layer.
If you still have a problem, DM and we can chat there. To DM, just click my name and send the text message.
probably you use blend mode on space layer instead of background layer
that's a wonderful design but reflection of the can has perspective issue.
I guess I'll try to change the hue of the space picture. Otherwise it changes the color of the planet too dark. I tried a clipping mask but it didn't work lol
@worn venture Im here to help you. I just dont want to involve the entire chat in it. If you'd like help, please DM me.
may be you can post a screen shot of you work space or screen recording and describe the issue lil bit more, so that we can figure out what exactly the prob is
@worn venture this is the first challenge. I was going to add texture with the space pic she gave us. But i can't figure out how without it changing the blend.
clip it with the blue background
it shouldnt be affect the blend
Revised @worldly plaza
Very nice @lucid plover
thank you @worn venture

Thank you Ted. I agree with your suggestion about the changing the black stroke to white, but at the time I could not remember how that was done. Now I do after going back to my notes. I am not sure I follow your other comment about "the top right square needing to be cleanup"...but I am thrilled that you liked my work. I am reposting after making changes you suggested. Thank you again.

Thanks to all of you that liked it! Sorry I have not had the time to look at all of your work. Just busy trying to learn PS for now.
Your design gave me a ton of ideas! great work Zahid!
@bleak fossil Ps DCC 2021-07 06 Frame Tool
Hi everyone!! Here is my can from day 6 Frame tool 🌲
Day6 Challenge
@bleak fossil I added the look of the can on a surface. How did it come out?
Thanks

My design for today's challenge - love the lesson
Day #2 Transform Tool
what about now, mr. @eternal mica ??? i increasred the contrast and changed the color of the word
I decided to give a little touch of the wind effect with the checkerboard pattern. Fun! Let me know what you think about the design.
@gaunt wagon Nice work on the Wind blur. The colors worked well together, and consistently with the drink name. I like the sparkles you added to the can BG. My one tweak would be to add more pop to the design by changing at least one of the black BGs you have (can, shape, BG layer).
@muted quail Your Day 5 is literally wilting in the summer heat. Solid effort. I can feel the "heat" in the design. Well done on the wind blur and on the gradient. If I were to make one tweak, I'd suggest you play with the BM on the inside of the pineapple to see if you could get some of the pineapple texture to show through.
@sand light Nice design for the Adjustment Layer exercise. The bubbles you added work well. I like that you changed the BG layer color fill, though I would suggest a more lively color. But thats just me.
Yes, of course, @eternal mica. Is this better?
Day 6 - This collage was difficult... I had no idea what to combine
a lil behind but here is my day 5 🙂
@uneven osprey Welcome. It seems youre new to the DCC/Discord chat. If you are, let me know. I like your Live Shapes design. Did you draw the rocket ship? The colors in this design work really well together. The font you chose fits the overall feel of the design. Im not sure if I'm seeing this correctly, but is the can titled ever so slightly? If it is, I would suggest you either straighten it out, or tilt it more dramatically. Again maybe its me just not seeing clearly. Your Transform exercise is well done. The swirl you gave the checkerboard pattern and the text on path is very nicely done. The teardrop is great. I like the scaled down checkerboard pattern. Strong effort.
@worldly plaza Youre two designs are awesome. The creativity in your Shapes design is wonderful. I really get the sense the can is floating in a zero gravity space created by the two beaming lights. The orange of the can lights up the whole design. The lighting throughout is solid. If I had to nit pick one thing I'd say the purple glow behind the can is a bit off. i would think that glow would be orange. Your Transform design is well done. I like the gradient and the filter you added to the shape in front. Nice BG layer too. I think the drink name text is a bit plain for this powerful a design. Good work all around.
DCC - Day 6 Frame Tools : POP Culture
Thanks @eternal mica ! I am new to the discord and photoshop in general. I have a pretty solid foundation in Illustrator, but only know how to do some basics in photoshop. I created the spaceship from some clip art via a clipping mask, but it wasn’t perfect from the start. I should have made it in illustrator and brought it in as a smart vector. That way I could have touched up the shape. Thanks for the critique! I really appreciate it. When I get the time I’ll have to touch up the design.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@muted quail Where'd you learn to count??? You have me all confused with which designs youre submitting. 😜 😜 😜 I love the Transform design. The multiple use of the checkerboard really works. The gradient really works. The green leaf is a wonderful way to break the monochromatic look, which might have been too much otherwise. I even like the white text fill (which I rarely do). Excellent effort (even if I'm confused what sequence its in).
thank you, lol, wasn't that the 2nd challenge?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
will do, thank you
I'm new to this server so I didn't know how does it work here. I saw people sending their works with can so I send mine too. I hope I did it as I should do.
Challenge #06: Frame Tool. Apple blossom. I used my illustration design Butterfly for spring challenge this year. Then I used frames, colors and 2 images clipped. As well I used Blending modes and brushes to have some mild effects on the frames shapes colors. I tried to keep green color shades from the butterfly to those mosaic shapes.
@worn venture Welcome to the DCC/Discord chat. I know we're going to work on your submission but I figured I'd give you a critique on what you've done so far. You did a nice job with rings, though Im not sure you intended to cut them off just short of the planet. I like the fill in your planet. I like the colors youve chosen for the BG, the shape fill, and the text fill. Nice clean crisp presentation.
@lucid plover Very cool design. Beautiful blending of the colors from the image to the fill. what would you say to adding some depth to the strawberries with some shadows or blur? And I dont know if this would work, but what would your curved shapes look like if they had the same colored stroke as your text, but thinner? That may be nuts. Just thinking out loud.
Challenge #6... Assets from vangoghmuseum.nl/nl
Day 6 Summer Strawberry 🍓
@young karma Lovely Frame Tool design!!! The way you blended the shapes and their fill really came out super. The colored can works great. I may be all wet on this, the one nit pick I might have is the blues in the top two layers are a bit conflicting next to each other. I defer to your judgment. Its your design. What do you think?
Here's what I have for challenge 6
@keen sinew Very creative concept for your Frame Tools design. The subtle way you handled the BG layer is interesting. The way you masked in the David is so cool, especially the apple in his hand. My one little nit pick would be that the glow around the apple and the drink name isnt needed. I would rather see a shadow to give the apple depth, and maybe an additional stroke if you want around the drink name.
@dusky wave Well done Frame Tool design. The mash up of all the fruits is cool. I would suggest the image fills you used are all a bit dark. How about adding some brightness to them individually.
@glacial minnow Good work on the Transform pattern exercise. Good cohesion to all the colors in the design, including the BG layer. I like the texture you added to the colored squares.
@queen aspen haha, Im not sure what your Frame tool design is either, but it works!! You got the technique down, even if you didnt conceptualize an overall design. My one suggestion would be to change the gradient color in the drink name fill. Its sort of lost in the image underneath it.
Revised Day6 Challenge
@eternal mica Well the birds are now in the trees sleeping. I guess it is much better now. Thanks once again for your tips 😃
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@candid chasm Very pretty Day 5 design. Your work on the can BG is well done. I would work on creating more contrast between the can and the BG layer. The image is so dark its hard to visually separate them.
@young karma Wow, I like that a lot better. Many times, less is more. What do you think?
@ornate spoke Great design for the Frame tool exercise. Repeating the design in the frames offset just a bit is eye catching, very interesting. The colors you overlayed also add interest. The contrast to the BG layer is wild. I love how you lowered the brightness to keep it from distracting from the main can image. Very nice work.
Yes, I liked more this way. This is my first everything in this community and in photoshop I only learn just a few things in my course... Now I'm learning much more. I'm so happy 😃
@uneven osprey Im the opposite of you. I started in Ps and am trying to really deep dive into Ai.

@copper moss very well done Frame tool exercise. The butterfly and the offsets really work well. The shape you created is terrific, and I love how you used it multiple ways in the design.. The color palette is very cohesive. The black, green pink go great together. Super effort.
@plain sable I visited the museum when I visited Amsterdam. Wonderful experience. Solid effort on the Frame tool exercise. The frame shapes are interesting in and of themselves, as are the inserts. The can BG is a good contrast. My one suggestion would be to play with text fill. Maybe lower the scale of the texture fill. Its a bit difficult to read.
day 2👀
Day 6: Frame Tool
@thorn geyser Lovely Frame tools strawberry mash up. You created an interesting design, and did a solid job filling the frames, especially with the repeating strawberry fill. The can color also helps sell the design. I would suggest you eliminate the shape from the can bottom. But thats just my opinion. You decide.
@muted quail Awesome concept with the Frame tool exercise. My thinking is the strawberry is too small to see your great work and the images are too dark. I would suggest increasing the size dramatically, then, if its too large, work backwards scaling it down . And I would also suggest curves adjustment layers on the individual frame layers to play with contrast/brightness of the animal images to make each one more visible. The white can is a great backdrop for this work.
Thank you very much. I'll try my best
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@compact pecan Super effort with the Frame tool. The design really works. The font helps tell the story, as does the can color. I would suggest you brighten up each of the inset images. Theyre a bit too low contrast.
Thanks a lot, Ted! I tried to blend between those kaleidoscopic frames that they are go cohesively together.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
Hi Ted, it just dawn on me which challenge you were referring to, the clipping one. Sorry. I thought you meant the "Catrina's Brew" which I think was the Adjustement Layer. In any event there is one that I exported as PNG which I then saved to my computer, but did not save the working files. Can I change the PNG into a working layers file? Or did I mess that challenge up by not saving it?
This was my version of the Effects and Color challenge. Did not like the Wind filter, so I chose the oil painting filter instead and then solarized it.
Do you ever feel like somehow your knowledge of the one software makes it harder to learn the other? I am constantly spending ages to do one tiny thing in photoshop when I know it would take me ten seconds to do it in illustrator.
Mashup Time! Fictitious pic layers, my photography layers and mashup of my photography. In case you're wondering, 2 leagues, is just under 10, 929 meters, which is the depth of Challenger Deep. I haven't been there.
Thanks @eternal mica... I adjusted the colors and increased spacing between the letters.

Ps DCC with Kathleen Martin - Day 6 - Frame Tool
No cats today either. Who am I?!?!
Ted was right, again! 😆
Kiwi Banana Pineapple. I tried. It's not as easy as it looks. So many Fantastic designs in Discord. Congrats to all. Thank you to all who make our learnings possible!
There are obviously differences between the two. And I do get confused. But Adobe has done a great job trying to mirror techniques from one app to the other.
I’m the same but opposite from you - using Illustrator for me is frustrating bc I don’t know how to do something that’s “basic” to me in PS
A first draft on the DCC using the frame tool with my art in the collage. Your thoughts are welcome here. Do the fonts work with the art?
this perfectly describes clipping masks from Ps to iLL lol
LOL. I STILL cant figure out clipping masks in Ai. I have to ask for help on Discord every time I try to use them!!
Don't forget the TWO types of selection tools!!? Though working with shapes and text is a whole lot easier in iLL. I feel more structured working in there whereas in Ps I can be more creative and think more outside the clipping mask lol
Amazing!!!
Day 5 - 🍓
I totally feel that. I spent forever trying to fill in a stupid shape a made with the pen tool in there. I felt like an idiot. Glad I am not the only one who has trouble switching between the two!

challenge 2: transform and warp tool, much more proud of this one compared to first one
@compact pecan Great use of the frame tool! I really like the sort of window framing effect it creates with the hexagon pattern. I feel like perhaps all the images could have a bit more brightness to them to balance out the boldness of the text, but that more subdued look also works for this theme. Nice job!
@steep inlet Cool colors and textures! I like the background pattern and texture in this Day 2 challenge. The strokes around the text make for a cool effect as well!
@young karma Really cool take on this challenge! I love the way you used the layered shapes and the different colors in each shape. It gives the whole can an appealing refreshing look. Very nice design!
@vital niche The font style is working really well with this design! I like the color effect for the background too. Perhaps the peace sign could be a bit brighter overall to contrast a bit more? Nice job!
@bleak fossil yeah thats the only thing i was skeptical about, didnt know if i should make it pop more or leave it as kinda blending in a bit, after this game i will mess around with it and send the revision! thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@limber flame Looking good! I really like how the orange of the planet is reflected in the top and bottom of the can. The wavy galaxy shape is a nice touch, though it could look good to have it gradually fade to black towards the bottom instead of a hard line. Nice work!
@tropic garnet Really cool combination of textures and colors in the Day 6 design! Nice work with the different shapes. And no problem, you can do them in any order you like, nice job!
@solar frost Really interesting combination of these different textures with the shapes you created. It makes for some nice color contrast too. Nice work!
@tawny badge Nice job with both of these designs! I think they both look good but I kind of prefer the boldness of the second design, and also the way you balanced the colors in it. The drop shadow is a nice effect as well!
@muted quail Ooh, really great textures and compositing within the strawberry shape! It makes for a nice double exposure effect, and I really like the way the simple, bright background color gives the red a strong impact. Well done!
@median frost Nicely done! The layered shapes are looking really good and I like how the top and bottom image fit together nicely with the similar blues tones.
@severe ice Hah, I love the face on this one. The background is really interesting too. Perhaps repeating the red from the strawberry into either the fill or stroke of the text could be nice to repeat the color a bit? Looks good!
@low garnet Very cool collage of images here! I love the illustrated look to a lot of these, they fit together nicely. I think the font works but it could also be interesting to see ones that are a little less chunky? Not sure if that might fit the vibe of the images more. Great work!
revision on the challenge to make the peace sign pop a little more

Thanks for the feedback. I agree about the shape at the bottom, but I added it so that the text would still be legible over the image. However I have amended it by adding a stroke to the text instead 🙂

@earnest forge I believe once the file psd file is lost it cannot be recovered from a png/jpg/etc. I suggest you confirm that in the ask-a-question tab.
@grave moss Beautiful Frame Tool exercise. Although your BG layer is stunning, because it is so stunning, I would bring down the intensity just a drop to keep the focal point on the can. Colors on the can work wonderfully together. I would love to see you play with a cast shadow for the can to add depth and perspective to it.
Day 1 challenge (live shapes) / I used polygon tool twice to make it look 3D and put 2 orbit around it. It looks cool, I guess.
@pliant comet Interesting concept for your Frame Tool exercise. I like the fill images you used. One suggestion I would make is to separate the greys and the woods from each other. I believe it would increase the interest in the design. Nice work
@tropic knoll Where ya been??? We missed you. Which exercise is Kiwi Banana for?
@slender stream Good job with the shapes in your Frame Tool exercise. One suggestion I would make is to select images to insert in the frames with more contrast. Its a bit difficult to determine where one image stops and another begins.
@faint beacon Very well done Frame Tool exercise. Interesting frame shapes and interesting insertions. The color range of the insertions really works well.
@fluid karma Are you new to our DCC/Discord chat?? If so, please let me know. In any event, welcome. Your Frame Tool exercise is well done. There is a flow and continuity to all the inserted designs. The font is interesting. One tweak I would suggest is, since its in the water, try the ripple filter effect on the text. It could make the design even more interesting. Nice work.
@young karma I couldnt open your design large enough to really see the inserted images well enough, so my thoughts might be off base. The frames you used look good. Im not sure if you intended for the images to blend together or to create more contrast between them. If the former, good job. If the latter, I would select images with more contrast. I would also suggest a brighter fill for the bottom shape. The image is too bright and lively for the black fill.
Thank-you for reply I wish i had a little more overall width light?
@hexed pecan Very well done Live Shapes exercise. Your polygon shapes look real good. The blue lines add a nice look, and I really like how you used that blue color for the line in the bottom. That creates nice cohesion. I like your font choice. The way you handled the BG layer with the yellow lines also adds interest. Nice glow/shadow on the can bottom. My only tweak would be to see what adding more of the glow/shadow would look like. Its not clear where the light source is, so you might want to determine that and then add glow and shadow. Just a thought.
Tnx for your advice. I'll try to cover my weaknesses
@elfin thorn I really like this design. The combination B&W and graffiti is very interesting. I like the idea of the continuum in the inserts even though theyre separated. Small suggestion, I would play with the drink name font. It doesnt really fit with the much more interesting overall design. And I would hide the line. Good work
@buoyant nova Really bright airy cool design for the Frame Tool exercise. Your frame shapes are very interesting. I really like how your gradient BG picks up the coloration from the inserted designs. One suggestion I would make is to give the drink name another stroke or two to give it more contrast against the can design. And I would definitely do that to the smaller texts. They are a bit washed out. Good job.
I dont understand your comment.
@hexed pecan There are no "weaknesses" here. Think of the comments as "suggestions".
Sorry I said to much
Tnx 😊
@slender stream Not at all. I didnt understand what you meant by: I wish i had a little more overall width light?
Ok I wonder if it is better to widen the size and width of the frame I just happened to think so

Day 6 - Frame Tool. Any better @eternal mica ?
Melo Melon - Pop Collection
I think the half size maybe😅
@bleak fossil & @eternal mica - Thanks for the feedback; I, too, thought there was a bit too much contrast between the bright letters and the portraits, but I thought old portraits like this should be more "muted" so I lowered the opacity of the letters which muted them a bit. Do you think it looks more even this way?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@buoyant nova Yes. Convert it to a smart object and use curves adjustment layer to increase brightness and contrast. I think it will pop.
@compact pecan Your design; your decisions. For my taste I wouldnt worry yet about the images or the text being too bright. But like Sam said, if you want the muted effect, its fine.
Thank you for the suggestions @eternal mica
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@serene wave Well done for the Effects and Color exercise. Your wind blur looks great. The texture on the can is a cool addition. The way you colored the can brings that design together. The BG work you added is a real plus. I would make a couple of suggestions. I would think about giving the text more room to breathe by increasing the font size and spreading out the kerning more. I would also use a curves adjustment on the can to increase the contrast between it and the BG. Make sure its the focal point of the design. Nice work.
@knotty cosmos Very nice work on the Frame Tool exercise. The straight layer strips works here. Your cohesive fill pattern colors and images really work. The BG layer design is subtle but effective. And the yellow bordering throughout is a solid touch to bring the whole thing together. A small nit pick, it appears the drink name, the line, and the small text are not aligned. I dont know if you did that intentionally or not.
Many thanks @eternal mica ...the line and text are not aligned by mistake sorry 😅
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@ornate spoke Beautiful submission for the Frame Tool exercise. Very creative approach to use the frame for the BG layer rather than the can. Good for you. The can looks great. Your multiple fonts look awesome together. Very nice gradient. I would love to see you throw a cast shadow to give it some perspective, realism, really sell the can image.
day4 I'm trying to catch up)))
You're doing good. Take your time.
Revised, didn't know how to add the shadow naturally so decided to add another can behind and below to act as a "floor" to catch the shadow
Thank you @eternal mica! I appreciate that! I've been travelling, safely. My Kiwi Banana is a combination of Kathleen's DCCs. Effects: Wind, Blast, Clipping Masks, Adjustments, Blend Modes. I drew my own can to see if I could. Good day to you!

📘 INDEX - Create Long Shadows in Photoshop
00:00 - Introduction
00:06 - Document...
Thanks, @eternal mica - I always appreciate an extra (or two) set of eyes to give me tips based on their impressions. It's kind of like a term paper - the more you read it, the less likely you are to notice a mistake because you tend to gloss-over things inadvertently. A fresh set of eyes is very important.

Jesus with another great tut!! I definitely struggle with shadow manipulation and will def use the long shadow technique in my upcoming DCC. Thanks Ted!

Here's my design with custom brush for Day 7 🙂 This was the first time I'm using the Color Dynamics and it's so much fun 😄
Challenge #07: Custom Brush. Octicity Juice Illusion. I used in all shapes brushes except line tool to connect berries. I used different brushes and also used different layers to connect logically parts. Used outer glow for big one to have some effect.

Day 7: Custom Brush
This is my trial for Challenge #7. I enjoyed so much this challenge - I understood so much things with the brushes. TY
Challenge 7
I’ve learned quite a bit from making one daily for the past few weeks. I love making them. I’m dropping a project tomorrow that will have 15 pieces each made with one of my custom brushes. I’m going to include a link to the brush pack too.
I’m thinking about making it a monthly thing.
So behind. Here is my Day 4
@deep mango very cool concept on the Frame tool exercise. The variety of colors in the frames created by the different fruits is cool. The colored BG layer and the occlusion shadow work well. One nit pick, it would look great if threw in a bit of a cast shadow to add more perspective and realism. Solid job.
@pliant comet Nice work for the Adjustment Layers exercise. The double exposure effect is well done. One suggestion would be to give the ellipse fill a bit of a stronger color. Its a bit washed out in such a powerful design. Second Id suggest the drink name be more prominent. Its a little too subtle. Good job.
@lucid plover Like I said earlier today, this drawing is becoming a presence in this DCC!!! This design is wonderful. The circular brushes give such a light lively appearance to the design. The candy canes throughout are a good touch. My only critique would be to bring the text into the overall feel of the design by coming up with a more lively, colorful, happy font.
@dusky wave Well done Brush exercise. The color palette is solid. The design you created is interesting and eye catching. The top can BG is a good addition. My one critique would be to lighten up the drink name text.
@severe ice Wonderful creative Frame Tool concept. Hard to argue with the fill images. Theyre pretty good!! 🤣 🤣 I like the way you went from dark to light on the fills. And adding the self portrait is a terrific idea. The layer BG also looks cool, though I would suggest a bit more contrast between it and the can. Very nice effort
@limber flame Good job on the Transform Pattern exercise. The gradient works well. I would point out two areas for additional work. The checkerboard pattern would work better if you aligned the squares evenly at the horizon. And I would suggest you scale up the pattern to fill the can so as to eliminate the gaps on each edge (although you may have intended to leave that open).
@deep mango Very good job on the Brushes exercise. All aspects are A OK. Interesting design. I like the can color and can background. Your color palette for the brushes is awesome.
@copper moss Really well done Brushes exercise. Very creative concept very well executed. The colors and shapes are wonderful. The one suggestion Id make is to change the BG layer to a color that will give much better contrast to the can. How about the green from the legs of your character?
@median frost Very creative concept for your Brushes exercise. I like that the brushes dont dominate the design. Im trying to decide if I like the way you positioned the skateboarder in the top right. Im thinking it might work better if you brought him to the inside of that brush shape so it could be more easily identifiable. Not sure. Strong effort.
@young karma Cool brushes design. I think the design would really be great if you masked parts of the knot over and under itself so it looked like a tied knot. Also, the drink name looks out of place with the design. A stronger font (maybe even a rope font) and a color fill that is more cohesive would really help.
@pliant comet Lovely design for the Clipping masks exercise. The colors work beautifully. The sesign has a fresh bright feel. The fill and stroke on the L are well done. Godd job
@young karma Please identify which exercise your design is for, especially if its not for the day you submit the design. Im assuming your design is for the Transform Pattern exercise, if not let me know. Strong effort, The pattern is interesting, complex, and well done. The colors of your can work well. The BG layer is very good. The one tweak Id make is the can gets lost in the bottom against the white. Maybe you can bring the bottom border up just a bit to create some contrast there. Good job.
@candid chasm I love your Frame Tool effort. The colors are so strong.. The shadow you added to the frame edges is a great touch. The blurring of the can BG and the BG layer adds nice perspective. Very good job
@earnest forge Did you draw the spirals with the brush tool? If you did, BRAVO!! Your design is so clean and simple. The one nit pick Id make is the drink name is a bit boring for such a good design. What do you think??
@muted quail Very well done Brushes exercise. The design inside the shape is really well done. What do you think about copying that and using it as a clipping mask to fill the drink name text? Im think it would add color, interest and cohesiveness to the design.
@candid chasm Another cool design. The brush strokes inside the banana is an awesome idea. And you carried it out so well. You used the line drawing technique earlier in the DCC. I liked it then and I like it again. The blurred BG layer keeps the focal point on the banana. Good effort all around.
@thorn geyser Really solid Brush exercise design. The design is interesting and intriguing. I like that you kept the color palette down to basically three colors. My only suggestion would be to use a BG layer that is more interesting, and adds more contrast between it and the can.
@keen sinew Powerful effort on the Brushes exercise. Your main design is really good. The blurring of certain parts of the brush strokes adds interest. My one suggestion is to work on the gradient in the drink name fill. It looks a bit too dark, hard to read.
@ornate spoke I love the creativity in this design. Lots and lots of good work on the basic design. The BG layer adds to the interest. I would make a few points. The right can isnt off centered the same as the left can. And why not make the right can a shade of green to give primary color balance to the design? Overall, a super effort.
Thank you @eternal mica 😊 ...yes I realized it may be better to put the skater a little more close to the shape 🤔 I'll make the changes 🙌

@simple idol No problem! There's always the two extra weeks after the live streams if you need more time. I really like the colors and textures inside the B shape! It makes for a nice balance of color and texture with the simple solid green background. Nice work!
@tropic garnet Really cool textures!I like the sort of warped/liquid look to it. The color contrast gives it a nice bold look and I like how you repeated those colors in the text. Looks good!
@vagrant rapids Very cool! I love the sense of form the stripes gives the cactus, really clever use of this challenge. The thorns are a great touch and these colors work really well for the theme. You nailed it!
@compact pecan Really intricate pattern on this Day 7 design! The colors give the webbing a really interesting look. Nice job!
@grave moss Very cool, was this done with your own photo? I really like how well the colors of the brush effect match up with the colors and textures of the shrimp, especially around the bottom. Nice work!
Appreciate it @bleak fossil!

Hello Designers 👋My participation for challenge# 7
Thanks @eternal mica , The idea behind this design was to incorporate texture of different planets into a single circle (shape), I wanted to incorporate as many as possible and at the same time didn't want to make it look too busy.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@faint beacon With that in mind, why not get rid of the bottom shape so your circle shape is wholly visible?
Good idea, will work on it.
Here's my reattempt for day 6 challenge
I'd say the one earlier came out to be much better, even if the idea behind it was not fully represented.
@faint beacon These are looking good! I really like the variety of textures you got. I think the earlier one was a bit cleaner, but the second one is a bit bolder depending on which feeling you're going for more. Nicely done!
thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@knotty cosmos I really like the texture you created with the brush strokes here! There's a nice uniform look to it with the color scheme but the directional changes add a sense of movement. The background graphic is a nice touch too!
@earnest forge Nice work with the frame tool! I like how the monochromatic look of the art balances out the bolder pink colors in this design. Looks good!
@pliant comet I really like the textures you got in this Day 7 design! Kind of a neon or bioluminescent feel to it. I really like the way it sort of fades off into the darkness of the background a bit around the edges. Very nice!
@ornate spoke Great take on this challenge! The textures you created have a great look. Really nice balance between the dominant helix shape and the lighter background textures. Really cool to see multiple versions too, nicely done!
@keen sinew Great pattern created for the Day 7 challenge! I really like the spiraling shift in color with the brush stroke, and it seems like it's a bit blurred around the outside which gives it an interesting sense of movement. Perhaps the text could be a touch brighter to read better at a glance? Nice job!
@thorn geyser Great take on this challenge! I really like the stroke you added around the outside of the brush strokes, and the way the background shapes are a different color to separate them and give the whole thing some nice depth. The background texture/dots work really nicely too!
@candid chasm Digging the illustrated elements in this Day 7 design, and I really like the presentation with the foreground leaf to add some nice depth. The shadow under the banana looks great too, well done!
@dusky wave Great textures and effects between the purple area and the orange brush strokes! It might be nice to make the texture a brighter orange by sampling from the brush stroke designs to give it a clearer read on the darker background. Looks good!
@muted quail Very cool, you created a really interesting texture and look to the line with the brush strokes, and the white stroke around the shape gives it a clear read. I feel like the text is a bit hard to read at a glance since both it and the background are so light. Maybe repeat the green of the lime in the fill or stroke of the text?
@eternal mica Very cool! I really like the texture within the text on this one. The shattered glass effect is really neat too. If I want to jump into nitpicking territory I do feel like the design is a bit busy, it might be nice to have an area for the eye to rest. Such as making the colorful starburst at the bottom the same light blue from the top, or removing it entirely. Just personal preference of course. Nicely done!
@earnest forge Loving this painterly effect for the spiraling vortex design. Great colors too!
@candid chasm Loving the layering effect on this Day 6 design! The shadow is very well done and adds some great depth. Great depth with the blurred foreground elements in the presentation too!
@young karma Really cool mirrored effect here! I like the simple color scheme in this one. The mirrored background texture makes for a great look too!
👍😆

@faint beacon Really cool design for the Brushes exercise. The lines you created came out very well. The way you handled the text fits the design. The BG layer is a very positive addition. Nice work all around.
@slender stream Your Brushes exercise caught the idea of the stream. Good job. The range of colors is very lively.
@ember wave Beautiful effort for the Day 5 design. The design, fruits, and colors really work well together. You did a nice job with the blur and shadows to add depth and realism. Solid effort
@steep inlet Exciting day 3 design. I dont know if you intended it, but some of the BG layer lines feed right into the can design. It looks great. Having said that, Id suggest to tone down the BG layer a bit to increase the contrast to the can and keep the focal point on the can.
@elfin thorn Very creative design. The brush strokes came out great. The one nit pick Id have is the drink name is a little blah for such an exciting design. A more expressive font and more exciting text fill would make the image pop.
@keen sinew Adjustment Layer design rocks. Solid effort combining all the layers. Id have two comments. Theres a dark area behind the face. I couldnt enlarge the design to see what it was. Perhaps lighten that area up a bit to show whatever is there. And secondly, the drink name coloration is too flat for me. With all the exciting color choices in your palette, I would think something a lot bolder would look fine.
@plain sable I love the color palette in your brushes design. The designs you created are wonderful. The text fill gradient and texture looks good too. Nice clean crisp work, as always.
Thanks @eternal mica

Cool. Will revise soon.
@median frost Hah, now youre so immersed in the DCC you cant tell which day your design is for!!! Your Pen Tool design really is dreamy. I like the coloration of the image fill you used between the two half faces. Coloring the can purple also looks good. Well done.
Day 8 Mystifying Mango 🥭
@dusky wave O Canada! Good job. Why are people off a day in counting this exercise!!! I like the textures and images you have in the orange layer. I would take a look at the top edge of your insert design. Its a bit short of the model's head. Perhaps adjust that with the Transform>Warp like Kathleen did.
@young karma Very nice design for the Day 7 Brushes. The designs you dre are neat, crisp and interesting. My one tweak would be to enhance the cohesion of the design by using any of the myriad colors you have in your brushes for the text fill on the drink name.
@covert loom Lovely lovely lovely work for the Pen Tool deign. The contrast between your BG and can draw the attention straight to the can. And your can design is intriguing. I love the double exposure effect. I must admit though, I cannot see the split image clearly to evaluate how that turned out. Perhaps you can work on making that more distinct.
Day 7: Custom brushes. I made these embroidery brushes for another project and I'm using part of it for my label. When I was a child, Sunbonnet Sue was a very popular pattern to embroider.
@steep inlet Good work on Clipping Masks. The images you inserted look fine. The drop shadow on the letters is well done.
Here is the full set of digitally embroidered patterns
@buoyant nova Im not sure I like this or I dont. It looks like a huge worm is attacking my apple!!!! 😜 😜 😜 Really well done design. The color palette is wonderful. The "snake" effect looks solid. The light flashes you added to the BG is a great effect. I like that you changed the can color to fit the design. Solid effort.
Hi!! Day 8 Buddha
@queen aspen Loving your Brushes design. Theres a definite Garden of Eden feel to the work. So many strong elements. I would make one suggestion. The texture fill in the drink name looks like a modern high tech metallic design. I think it doesnt really fit with the message the design is sending. What do you think?
@steep inlet Nice use of the Wind blur on your design. Its interesting that youre using the same design concepts over and over. Im curious how this will all look once the DCC is all combined.
@candid chasm Your consistency on the design theme is great. As in the previous designs, the colors for the Pen tool exercise are lovely. Good use of the blur to send the focus onto the can.
@copper moss Good job with the Pen tool exercise. The way you brought the design together with the light blue and orange is great. One little nit pick Id make is that the drink name font could really use a stroke or drop shadow,a nd an exciting fill color/gradient/pattern.
@glacial minnow Good effort on the Adjustment Layers design. I like the way you handled the BG Layer. Coloring the can to match your design is a touch I like, One suggestion Id make is to play with the drink text. The black shape fill is swallowing up the last couple of letters of text.

@eternal mica 🤣 🤣 it's a nice worm. Thank you for your comments

@keen sinew Lovely color palette. Very well conceived design, though, I think theres one inconsistency to be resolved. In the bottom of the head, it looks like the head has the colors on the inside. In the bottom of the neck, that is not the effect. (I cant open your image to see it more clearly.) The way you faded out the clouds for the can BG is well done. One little nit pick. Theres a green leaf right in front of the eye of the model. To me, thats distracting. I'd remove that.
Hi, here's what I have for challenge 8
@verbal frost Nice collection of Live Shapes cans. They each look real solid. I would make one tweak. Breaking up the drink name the way you did can make it difficult to read. For the drink name I would think you want the text to be quickly legible and understandable. If you want to split the text, "up" on one line and "lifting" on the second line might work.
thank you! I'll try that
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
thank you! That's a cool idea. I'll try it.
@forest aspen Your Frame Tool exercise is neat crisp appealing. The cohesion of the color palette really sells the image. Your consistency throughout the DCC is awesome.
@thorn geyser Nice job on Pen Tool design. I like the green/purple color scheme. I would love to see some of the mangoes masked coming out of the open head rather than just sitting in front of the face, and maybe with a bit of blur to add a sense of motion and perspective. And I'd try to add some cast shadows to the fruits. What do you think?
@forest aspen Did you draw all those embroidered patterns? If you did, I'm blown away!!! Amazing work.💯
@young karma I can honestly say, this is the first time Ive ever seen the word "consciousness" in a product!!! 😂 😂 The nested Buddhas is a very creative effect. You handled it beautifully. The swirling lines give the design real motion. Excellent effort.
Great choice. The green fill and can color added real pop to your already beautiful design. Awesome tweak. Do you agree?
I'll take your word for it. Just dont ask me to bite the apple!!!
@muted quail Very creative effort. Wonderful job on the Pen Tool exercise, splitting up the kiwi, and masking the kiwi. I would make one suggestion. The BG layer matches the can so closely there is hardly any contrast. I'd love to see the can stand out a bit more and be more prominent.
thank you, i'll be sure to change the background

Oh! The cats are back!
I'm a bit behind, but here is my day 5 - Effects and color 🧡 🥰
@pliant comet Thank Goodness. I was really starting to worry!!!! You handled the Pen Tool split beautifully. The image insertion is well done. The color palette is perfect for the Big Cat. I would make one tweak. I would try to brighten up the bottom third of the image insertion. Right now, its so dark the image is lost.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @pliant comet
Day 8! Seltzer on the beach sounds dreamy to me. What do you think?
Could you be more specific about the inside colors? I'm not sure what you mean.
@dusty karma Nice effort for Effects and Colors exercise. Its an interesting look to have the wind blur move in both directions. Your BG layer gives the feel of a blazing hot sun literally melting the orange and the grass. I think the design would really pop with an occlusion shadow and a cast shadow. What do you think?
The blue points to the areas I was saying should be the same. The red is the leaf I'd delete.
Gotcha!
@keen sinew I think the top one is the fruit layer overflowing the top showing out the bottom. I cant tell what the bottom fill is.
Actually I didn't draw the patterns for Sunbonnet Sue. I modified them from some old embroidery patterns. My contribution was creating the color and shading along with all the brushes for the different stitches -- one stamp at a time 😉
@forest aspen Your work is always so consistently meticulous, nothing would surprise me.
Day 8; Pen tool split head. The baby with a headache is from AdobeStock.
For the orange?
For the can
@dusty karma Do you know how to search a participant in the right panel? Search out Dorina Boneva. (click the search icon; click from; type in the first few letters of the name; click the name when it pops up) She added it to her last design and it came out very well.
Oh, right, I'll take a look and see if I can do it!! Thanks @eternal mica

Challenge #8
I have one version of pixel stretch. I did the second part dark grey. I think it is in question contradictory discrepancy of 2 parts. Here is some excitement.
Second version of pixel stretch with 2 clear parts of the face. But the left has a bit low opacity. And I can play here later e.g. apply some texture and change the bottom part. Yet I will improve font color and type. The expression of the actor is in the plot of pixel stretch.
One version with angle gradient in between. I will improve the types as they are not clear. Usually I do many versions. This is one of them under construction but needs correction. Perhaps I will discord 2 of them later.
Like this, @eternal mica ?
Yes, even a bit darker. But you get the idea.
Challenge-2
DCC7. Custom Butterfly Brush. The Butterfly is one of my images. Can you see the 'worms' (worm look) along the top and bottom of the can? This DCC was loads of fun. I am Finally understanding brushes. Hope you feel this works. Thank you for this opportuntiy!

Original source file - marine iguana. Photo I took in Galapagos, 2015.

Can maybe see this version a bit better.
Thanks @eternal mica , I was really confused with day 7 challenge. Nothing was really coming out, so finally I went for simple lines.

@grave moss I really like the color scheme in this design! Nice job with the pen/splitting technique in this one. Personally I kind of like the first design's background, the stylized colors look a little more energetic and in your face and contrast nicely with the can design. The second one looks a bit murky and doesn't quite fit the theme of the drink I think. Nice work!
@compact pecan Great effect! I really like how you gave it the effect of being peeled outward, it adds some nice movement and interest. The interior texture and shadow are nicely done too. Looks good 👍
@tropic knoll That's great to hear you're getting more comfortable with brushes. Really nice texture throughout this image, the effect on the bottom of the can is really interesting. I like the illustrated look to the whole thing too. Nice job!
@verbal frost I like the name of this one. The perspective effect is looking solid and the gradient adds some nice interest to the design. Nice work!
@dusty karma Really liking the bold colors of this design! The orange has some great contrast against the background and I like how you repeated the green and orange more than once in the design. Perhaps the orange text could be a touch brighter? Great job on the pixel sorting effect too!
@copper moss Really cool to see 3 different versions of this design! The pixel stretch of the second image looks really nice, and I like the color of the third design. The sort of interior layered look of the rock on the third design is really cool too. Really nice work!
@plain sable Really interesting to see this effect applied to a flower! At a glance they initially look like long flowers, I wonder if playing with the saturation or color of the pixel stretched area might make it more obvious? Of course it really just depends what you're going for. Nice job!
@forest aspen Great colors in this Day 8 design! I like the way you gave it a gradual split that lines up with the M in the text. The background has a really nice look to it too, nice job with the reflection and gradient!
@low garnet I really like the colors of this design, it fits the theme nicely! I wonder if making the white of the sky in the interior image the same as the orange at the bottom or something that contrasts the pink background a bit more might help strengthen the impact of the effect. Very nicely done!
@pliant comet Hah "the cats are back" was my first thought when I saw this. Nice job with the splitting effect! It could be interesting to try a version with a blue or blue-grey background to contrast all the orange in the tiger and sky to see if it makes the effect any stronger. Not sure if that would take away from the orange flavor feel to it. Looks good!
Thanks, Sam!

Thanks, @eternal mica. I think you're right. At first, I used a snake skin, but didn't like it. Maybe I have to add some adjustments to this skin in order to look in the place. I'll try it.

day3 challenge revised. Took out the noise layer.
@keen sinew I like the tweaks you made. What do you think?
Cleaner. Apparently, I did not clip the adjustment layer to the rocket/shuttle so it overwhelmed the rest of the design.
Day 8 - Pen Tool
DCC - Day 8 - Pen Tool : Peach Tree 🍑
I love the motions of this @ornate spoke but I think the main subject is blended with the background, maybe darken the background and lighten the subject a little bit can help
thanks for the input Fery! When you're talking about the subject, do you mean the can or the woman on the can design? I have a feeling you may be talking about the can and yea I agree I should of blurred the BG or darkened it a bit more
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @lucid plover
both @ornate spoke
the can is blended with the background
the woman, maybe just brighten it up just little bit
Revised, Gaussian added to BG added a green tint and lowered the darkness. Highlighted the subject layers with a brighter exposure with a few little more tweaks, thanks for the eye @lucid plover !

Nicely put together! Now we all have to do one! Lol

Challenge 6 Frame Tool. I could not decide which frame to use.
Hi. Day 9 Complex Selections
Thanks @rancid vapor 🥰 I tried to make kinda landscape in the layers, with the grass, flowers and sky
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @rancid vapor
I couldn't decide on a single concept, so I did a series of three Celestial Ocean sea-in-space drinks. First is Banded (Belcher's) Sea Snake from Fiji (photo I took in 2014) and a Spotted Shake Eel I took in Bonaire in 2012. Then a sea lion pup from Galapagos (2015, same pup), and finally a bull shark with a white-tip reef shark from Fiji (2014). I can post source photos if anyone is interested.
Hello Designers 👋 My participation for challenge # 8
day 2.
Day #4 Clipping Masks
Complex Selections challenge. And happy Fourth to you all.
@faint beacon You did a terrific job with the Pen Tool. I like the way used the blur nested inside the fruit. You added some nice cast shadows for the berries. Why not do the same to the can?
@slender stream Solid effort on your Pen Tool design. I really like the color palette. The design is very creative. I would tweak a couple of things. The BG layer is overpowering the can a bit. How about giving it a blur to make it less dominant? You brought the black shape layer all the way up the can. Its taking up a lot of space. The drink name looks insignificant in that big area. I would suggest a bolder font and a more emphatic fill. Last, adding a cast shadow to your can would really add realism to the design.
Which exercise is this for?
@young karma Good job on the Pen Tool exercise. I dont know if you drew that design or not, but its cool in either case. The embedded image works really well. One nit pick Id make is the drink name font and fill color dont seem to fit the design. Something bolder might work better.
@steep inlet Cool design for your Frame Tool exercise. The cool pastel color palette works with the BG and with the embedded images. Giving the can a deep blue color works. My one nit pick would be to try to increase the contrast between the BG and the can, maybe by blurring the BG, or lowering the intensity.
@buoyant nova Lovely work on the Day 8 Pen tool and the two Complex Selections. The embedded image on Day 8 looks cool, and I like the strawberry plop. The BG is great. Id think about two things. Maybe blur the embedded image just a bit to enhance the sense of motion.. Add a cast shadow to the can to increase the sense of realism and separate it from the BG layer. Your Day 9 selection is well done. The BGs is so powerful, it dominates the design. Add some depth to the can to enhance its presence in the design, and give it contrast from the BG layer. I might break the drink name into a few lines. The fish are beautiful. I love this one.
@ornate spoke @lucid plover hit the nail on the head with his suggestions for your Day 8 design, and your tweaks improved the design. Very well done. I would make one additional nit pick, the drink name might look better if it had more contrast with the can color. The "16 oz" (I love the font) stands out more than the drink name.
@hollow yarrow Your Day 5 Wind Blur is dramatic. The way you applied the blur to so many elements of the design is awesome. I would have two comments. The color in the glasses is a bit too bright. It washes away the X design, which is a cool element. And the drink name font seems small and the gradient fill colors seem a bit off.
@dusky wave Solid work on Day 9 Complex Selection. I think since the purple fish is on top, the contrast to the BG is ok, though you could increase it just a drop. I would increase the font size to make the name more legible
@median frost Your Day is very well done! The way you handled the selections is great. Im sure you thought about this, but I would love to see the images more clearly by brightening them up and having them stand out from the black BG more. Thats just my opinion. Its your design. You decide.
@compact pecan I love this. The three sets of stripes are great. The red/green are awesome together. The drink name font fits so well. Solid effort.
@lucid plover Very well done Day 9 exercise. The colors work beautifully together, and the way you alternated them in the text reads great. Your masking of the croc on the shark tail is well done. Why not have the shark return the favor and bite the croc's foot?
@queen aspen You nailed the Pen Tool exercise. Adding the bubbles, the swirling water, and the can BG add interest to the design and enhance the contrast to the main character image. My one tweak would be to play with the text fill. The gradient colors look a bit off.
@copper moss Fun interpretation of Day 9 design. Very solid effort all around. The pastel colors work well with the design. You handled the selection very well. Your font choice is great. Whats that font name?
@muted quail Great work on the selection in the Day 9 exercise. The fruit colors jump off the can. I would suggest you increase the contrast between the BG layer and the can.
Day #5 Effects & Color
@keen sinew Haha, awesome concept. Beautifully done. One point, I think the white bubble belongs on the black BG, and the black bubble belongs on the white BG. The one nit pick Id have is to give the black text a thicker stroke so it has more contrast with the black of the can. Awesome effort.
@plain sable WOW, your Day 9 is awesome. The concept is great, the selections are excellent, the coloration is beautiful. Super effort.
@young karma Welcome, I guess youre getting started. There is no rush. You have plenty of time to complete the challenges. Nice effort with your Day 0 design. I look forward to seeing your posts.
@earnest forge Your Day 8 Pen Tool is right on target. You nailed the design. There are a couple of spots along the top edges of your embedded design that could be cleaned up. Good work.
Four, I think. I’ve been doing them out of order. I only have eight and nine left though.
ETA: It’s definitely Challenge Four
@young karma Nice job with the Live Shapes exercise. The planet and ring look cool. Im not sure if you cut off the ring short of the planet on purpose. In order to add cohesion to you design, I would try adding some purple to the image so the text and the image have something in common.
@pliant comet Hahah, Im sure we're all feeling much better now that you've added a kitty to our day!!! Your Day 9 is really well done. The selection is handled very well. The colors are blended beautifully. The can BG is a nice addition, especially the way it fades away. My one tweak would be to play with the text fill color to get a bit more contrast. Good job
Thanks for the inputs throughout all this exercise. Much appreciated.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@rancid vapor Welcome. No rush to finish the challenges. You have plenty of time. Nice work on the Live Shapes exercise. I would make a couple of suggestions. Bring down the intensity of the BG layer so it doesnt detract from the main story youre trying to tell. Keep the focal point on the can. And dont be afraid to play with the font sizes and positions. The long tiny font on one line is difficult to read.
Youre very welcome. Your work is really solid. Reviewing it is a pleasure and a good learning experience for me. I enjoy working with you.
@paper shadow Your Transform Pattern is a good effort. I would make a few suggestions. I would increase the transform effect on the checkerboard so the change is more noticeable. I would play with the fill on the drink name to have it be a more cohesive color with the rest of your design. And I would add a stroke to the the yellow text so it has more contrast against the green in the checkerboard pattern.
@dusty karma There are so many ways to accomplish something in Ps. If you want to get some help, go to the ask-a-question tab and ask whether your version of Ps has the tool. Its great that you have a work around to the Frame tool. Your design came out great. The embedded images work well together. I like the gradient BG layer you created. the occlusion shadows are very well done.
I wanted the shark like it is moving away from the crocs instead of attacking it @eternal mica
Got it. I just thought there might be some symmetry to the bite
Thanks, @eternal mica

@ember wave Awesome effort for Day 6 Frame Tool exercise. The can design is very well done. The embedded images work so well together. The color palette works beautifully especially with the elements you added outside the can. I would make one nit pick. It would really sell the image of the can if you added occlusion and cast shadows. Excellent job.
@tropic garnet Very strong effort on Day 5 Wind Blur. It looks like you also used the liquefy tool. The highlighting of the lemon to reflect the glow from the lava looks great. One tweak I would make is to add a glow effect around the areas of the lava and where you have the lemon glowing.
@covert loom Beautiful job masking the Complex Selections exercise. The red swirl adds a nice sense of motion. The cohesion between the can BG and the drink name fill works nicely. the textured BG layer adds to the image. I like the cast shadow you gave the dancers. The one nit pick I would make is to add occlusion and drop shadows to the can to add perspective and realism.
@ornate spoke Great way to close out the DCC. This design rocks. The selections are solid. The colors are electric. The texture on the can design adds a sense of tension and motion. The drink name font fits the design. And your work on the BG layer is awesome. All in all a super effort.
@queen aspen Here is another solid effort to close out the DCC. The rippling water can BG, butterflies, and drink name really tell a story. Your masking of the butterfly wings is right on. The bubbles are anice touch. If I had to nit pick one thing, I would suggest the drink name be brightened up to let ti stand out more against the black shape BG. Wonderful effort.
@verbal frost Nice effort for Day 4 Clipping Masks. I like the way you handled the can BG. I would suggest the clipped images could be brightened up to make them fit within the overall design feel. One other edit you might consider is to have the 2 fruits on different layers so you can handle them independently. But you may have already thought of that, and liked this better. Your design; your choice.
@deep mango Good job on Day 8 Pen Tool. I love the shadows you added. The can images work nicely. Blurring the BG watermelons is a good touch. You might want to clean up the upper left edge and the lower edge of your clipped area to have them sync better with the sides of the face. Theyre off ever so slightly.
@forest aspen Great extra credit for bringing the 9 cans of your design together into a 9 Pack. Throughout the DCC I sensed where you were going and was anticipating this kind of recap. Your consistency in design throughout the series was exemplary. It looks great. The idea for the package, and the way you handled each individual can's shadow, all work to sell the concept. Looking at all of them together, there is one tiny minute very small insignificant (hahah, you get the idea) tweak I would make. The blueberry can is the only one to have text overlapping onto the lines portion of the can. In order for it to match the other cans, I would suggest you move the text up to above the lines. 💯
@gaunt wagon Two very interesting efforts for the Frame Tool exercise. I think the second one is a bit more interesting because of the green drop shadow around the starburst, and the green tint in the strawberries in the can BG. Also I think the green text stands out better than the red. One suggestion I would make is I would love to see what you would do to replace the black BG layer with something more interesting.
@young karma Awesome Day 9 Complex Selection design. Your subject selection really works. The colors you used are beautiful. The edges of the animals are blended together beautifully. I think the drink name is a bit dark, but that may be the look youre looking for. I also think the can color is a bit off from the rest of the design. But again, that may just be me.
Thanks, @eternal mica. At first, I didn't know how to approach this challenge. But with the analogy of the Schroedinger cat, I searched for other animals and theories. I saw 6 theories with animals and chose the butterfly effect. But what to do the butterflies? Well, something like that what I did. Maybe, you're right about the name. I touched it so many times that I don't know what else to do with it. So, lets it stay like it is. (I apologize if my English is not so clear).

@grave moss Its been a pleasure to see how you worked your amazing underwater photography into each of these exercises. Thank you so much for sharing that work with the group. First off, the BG can image you used for all 3 is awesome. I really love the concept and the coloration. The can colors you used pick up the minor color differences in each design. Nice touch. And last but not least the space BG layer is also right on target. As to the designs, theyre each wonderful. You nailed the selections in each design. I think the first one is 1A, as it flows the easiest between the objects, and the colors work best together. But honestly, the other two are 1B and 1C, right behind. Great work. I hope you choose to join us again in the future DCCs.

@knotty cosmos Solid work on the blurring of the inserted image in the Pen tool exercise. The lines mesh beautifully. As well, the blue offset for the can, the bubbles, and the can texture work great with the orange color.
@grave moss You never used Ps before this? Thats amazing. Im even more impressed now than I was before.
@eternal mica I did 5-6 Ai DCCs first and got comfortable with the tools, so that helped.
@young karma Job well done on Transform Pattern exercise. Your checkerboard came out great. I like the gradient you selected, and how you used green for text fill to bring the text into the design. Nice job. Next time, also try coloring the can to make the design even more cohesive.
@grave moss Bravo. Yes, that helps to get comfortable with the UI, which are similar one to the other, but the tools have quite a lot of differences. I have found the DCC process to be an incredible way to learn real technical Ps stuff really quickly. And to see the fruits of one's labor grow right before one's eyes.
@glacial minnow Nice effort on Day 4 Clipping masks. the textures you added look great in combination. I like your font style, the stroke, and the can color. The BG layer adds interest to the design. The cast shadow adds realism. Nice job all around.
@earnest forge Awesome effort on Complex Selection exercise. Is that 2 owls or 3? I think its 3. You did a great job coloring the different selections. The midnight blue can BG gives a nice offset to the selections. One tweak I would make is to increase the cohesiveness of the text into the design by using the bright aqua blue from the owl design as the text fill. The yellow you have looks a bit out of place.
@eternal mica Many thanks 🌸🌹
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@glacial minnow Very cool soothing feeling to your Effects & Colors design. You handled the Wind Blur very well. I like the offset color you used for the BG layer, to contrast it from the can. The pink you used blends so well into the can color. One minor tweak, I would brighten up the drink name text to be more in line with the bright airy feeling of the rest of the design.
I just got a PC going again and started playing around with PS. I haven't done all of the challenge, but I did play with the can a bit.

One of the fun things Ive enjoyed doing after every DCC I participated in is to prepare a Behance portfolio to exhibit my work. I love sharing it with the Ps DCC family, with my real family, my friends, and whoever decides to drop by for a look see. Ive posted over 25 portfolios already. I strongly urge any of the participants who havent tried to create one yet to give it a try. If youre like me, it will be a nice coda to your efforts the past 2 weeks, and it will give you a real sense of satisfaction for completing something real. If youre new here and dont know how to create one, or if you have questions about how to create one, just drop me a line and I'll help you out. Here is the link to my portfolio. Creative challenge - June 21-July 23

@candid chasm As with your other designs, this is very well done. I looked back at all your submissions for this DCC. You "found" your concept with the Day 4 challenge, and maintained it consistently the rest of the way. Excellent conception. Excellent execution. In this particular design, the splashing coconut milk is great. The effect of the drawn lines to accent the images is really good. The way your font picks up those white strokes gives a real cohesion to the design. And the blurred BG puts real focus on the focal point of the design, the can. Great job.
@young karma Welcome. You have plenty of time to complete the challenge. Adobe is on vacation for Independence Day holiday this week. The following two weeks, the DCC will be re-aired on AdobeLive. Nice effort on your Live Shapes design. The ring and planet work well together. Using their colors as text fill added nice cohesion. The grey can BG you selected gives the can nice contrast to the black BG layer. Good job.
@hollow yarrow An absolutely wild Frame Tool design and mock up. The color palette is great. The torn paper edges along the frame are a terrific effect. (Ive seen you use this before. I gotta figure out how you do it!!) I think there's a very subtle element to your design that adds special punch. The randomness of the frame sizes makes each one draw the eye to examine it individually more closely. And the hard geometric figures at the bottom add a real sense of contrast. Lastly, the way you set up the mock up with eyes staring out is intriguing. Super stuff. One question: did you consider adding a bit of red to the BG layer gradient to add more drama to it?
thanks so much @eternal mica 🙂

@quiet ridge Welcome. I hope you decide to submit designs following the DCC so we can work together with you to comment on your work.
Teb B I am sure once I get this computer going I will get back into doing the Challenges again
@gaunt wagon Your Brush design is very well done. The colors you selected stand out from the can BG you created, which is also well done. I like the text fill for the drink name, it adds cohesion with the brown BG. I might make it a shade or two darker. (Im not sure you intended it, but WAAY is misspelled.) I would make one suggestion. How about adding a golden color to the can also, to add even more cohesion to the design?
I look forward to seeing your posts.
@knotty cosmos I looked back at your last few designs. You've settled in with a very cohesive design concept on them. That is awesome. You did a really good job with the Complex Selection. The colors of the fruits are bold and exciting, as is your use again of the can outer glow. The one tweak I would make is to work to increase the cohesion of the design. The blue in the BG layer isnt anywhere else in the design, even though it is pretty dominant in the BG. I would suggest either bring it into the design, or change it in the BG.
@ember wave Your Brushes exercise design is a good idea. And I like the design you drew. I would suggest you add more depth to the design with some shadows along the strands of DNA. I might also lower the intensity of the BG layer, so it doesnt distract too much from the can being the focal point of your design.
@thorn geyser haha, cool concept. I like the pop art feel to this. The can BG of the fruits is so good. The patterns you embedded in the large fonts work well. I like that you chose two different fonts for the drink names. I would make one suggestion. I think the ampersand fill would fit a lot better if you used the pink from your design rather than the blue. What do you think?
@young karma Rod, it will help if you label each submission you make with the challenge it relates to. Thanks. I assume this is #3 Adjustment Layers. You did a nice job on the composite. I would suggest a bit of blur around the smoke edges to add realism. And maybe a glow around the bottom half of the rocket ship to pick on the intense light source coming from flames.

@hollow yarrow I wish you could see the smile on my face. I have such respect for you and your work. When you tell me I've raised a good point, I feel totally validated. And it tells me the type creative you are, someone with the grace, confidence, and self assuradness to accept a critique from anybody. Youre the BEST.
Day 8 v2. Made the changes you suggested, @eternal mica! Also decided to make the face green as I thought it looked a little dull. 😀
Day #7 Custom Brush with a little twist
@glacial minnow Your Frames Tool design has a nice look to it. The images you embedded work well together to give a nice varied color palette to the design. The fill you used on the can bottom blends in nicely to the layers above. The BG layer you created is interesting and doesnt distract from the deign. Your design would really pop if you added some perspective to the can by introducing shadows (occlusion and cast).
@slender stream Your Complex Selection is interesting. It looks like you incorporated the frame tool in this as well. Good for you. I would suggest the bottom of your selections could be brighter so the crow would be more visible. And both images could use a bit of shadows to add depth and realism. Good effort.
Annu Cool design for the Complex Selection exercise. The B&W BG layer is an interesting effect. Im guessing you wanted each person to have one leg in the design. I think the way you positioned it looks a bit strange. Perhaps show a little bit of the ladies leg merging on top of the mans leg. The stroke you added to the mountains looks good.
@deep mango Your Complex Selections is very well done. The way you interspersed the Big Cats looks terrific. You added the Frame layer to the design as well. Nice. And the shadows you added work very nicely.
@dusty karma Your Brushes design is really good. The consistent dark color palette works so well. The gradient BG layer looks great with the dark middle against the brighter can middle. Your shadowing around the brush strokes is very well done. The drink name is bright enough to stand out without disturbing the overall feel of the design. The can color is right on. Solid effort all around.
@dusty karma The Pen Tool Catermelon is great. Your lines merge the two shapes beautifully. I would make one tweak. I would add appropriately placed shadow around the cats head to give it some depth and realism.
Hello! Here is my attempt at the frame tool challenge. Thank you in advance for any feedback.
@ember wave Very interesting design for the Pen Tool exercise. I think the image you selected to separate is a bit difficult for this exercise. The face you tried to separate is out of balance, making it difficult to get enough onto the left side of your design. I would also suggest you blur over or erase the portion of the image that is outside the ellipse. The edge is uneven and isnt critical to your design. One technical point. Different areas of your design look very pixelated. Are you converting your images to smart objects before you transform them? If not, I believe that would eliminate the pixelated look. But you may have done it intentionally. Im not sure.
@plain sable Your mp4 reminds me of the slide movies I used to make. I need to find time to get back to that. Fun idea.
@thorn geyser Your Complex Selections is solid. You handled the selections well. The colors you used for the fish are electric. Adding the blueberries in the center is a nice touch. The sunburst works well as the can BG layer. I would love to see how your sunburst would look if you used the cyan color from the tail of the right fish to contrast against the purple you used from the left fish tail. Well done all around
Thanks @eternal mica I used adobe sparks it's really easy to a slide show...
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@young karma Good job on the Clipping mask exercise. The patterns and purple color you inserted into the W are well done. The yellow stroke effect you added is also good. My suggestion to you would be to work on the contrast between the W and the black can BG. In many areas the W is just merging into the BG with no distinction between the two.
@plain sable Ive never used it. I need to give it a look.
I finally got the sea-themed cans shelved.
Tanks @eternal mica I'll try that!! 🥰
Coming along! Here is my brush challenge
A bit behind, did the live shapes day 1
After a few days off, I am back to finish the last challenges... Here it is my Day 7 ... 🧬
@sterile bane or anyone with some extra time, how can I make my design seamless? Particularly my DNA can, I'd love for it to warp around and match. Thank you!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @sterile bane
@burnt marten which design are you asking about?
I'm working on the Custom Brush challenge, #7. I was wondering if it would be possible to get the DNA loop to wrap around the can seamlessly here's what i have so far
Here's my Frame tool Challenge #Day 6. a little late though, not very far behind.

Daily Creative Challenge #Day 7 - Rose splash
Im not sure what your question is. How the brush appears on the mock up is controlled by what you drew on the psb file. If you draw the brush off one side of the canvas at a particular point, and then bring in the brush stroke at the opposite side of the canvas at the same spot, I believe you'll get the image youre looking for. Here is a simple example
Hi kaka... 😉
hi juga...😀
@dark grail Welcome to the DCC/Discord chat. We're happy you joined us. If you need help finding your way around or have any questions, feel free to ask. We're here to help you. What is youre experience level with Ps? Your day 0 design is well done. My only tweak would be to make the text larger so as to be more prominent on the big canvas. Good start.
@young karma Welcome to you as well. Is this your first time doing a DCC? What is your Ps experience level? Nice effort with the day 0 image. I like the way you shadowed the text. It might look cool to darken the tint of the back text just slightly to add to the 3D look. Nice work adding the texture layer. When we started this DCC we had a bit of a discussion here as to whether it looked better to have the texture on top or behind the text. We ended deciding not to decide, LOL.
@young karma Nice job with your Living Shapes design. You masked the ring nicely. I like the two tone ring colors and the way you integrated those colors into the text fill to add cohesion. The can BG color works well, as does the texture on the drink name. Good effort.
@short mica I really like the Brush exercise. The combination of the filled/unfilled circles is really creative. The B&W can BG you added adds interest to the design. The text stands out. My one suggestion is, and you may have tried this already, going away from the all black can BG/can/BG layer. I think the design might have more energy with a lighter more fun tone. But I may be wrong. Youre choice.
@simple idol Very interesting design for the Day 5 Effects and Colors exercise. The texture you added to the pumpkin makes it look like a lizard, very spooky. Your layering of the cut out shapes is well done. The overall color palette fits the image nicely. Good work.
@glacial minnow LOL, I love the design!!! The smiley face is so fun. The "glow" you added to the brush stroke adds a real sense of motion. One suggestion, how about making the glow worm "glow"? Add a green/yellow glow to the face? Let it have a bit of an effect on the surrounding area? Your BG layer is well done. Its effective without distracting from the focal point of the design. Good job.
@plain sable is adobe sparks included in the creative cloud subscription? Thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @plain sable
@simple idol Lovely Frame Tool exercise. It has an impressionist art feel to it. I like the all over can design. It looks like you added the circles to emulate bubbles on top of the frame layers. Did you? Now that you made the whole can one design space, I would make the drink name larger. Good work.
@grave moss Really nice concept for displaying all the cans in your DCC. One suggestion Id have is to work on the consistency throughout the design. Some of the cans have occlusion shadows, others dont. Some have cast shadows along the sides , others dont. I might even play with the shadows under the shelves. Most of the masking is clean. A few spots could be cleaned up. Im not sure the lining up the cans in front row/back row and their sizes are consistent. Ive attached a copy of the image with grid lines added to show you what I mean. All in all a good effort.
@simple idol Brush stroke exercise is well done. The can BG layer texture adds a nice element to the design. The color palette is pretty consistent throughout, including the can color.. The one item that might need a little help is the yellow type for the minor text. Its sort of lonely. Perhaps adding a stroke the bottom shape edge in that color would add to the consistency.
Thank you @eternal mica I wasn't entirely satisfied with it myself! Will work in that.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@cerulean marten Dont worry, there's plenty of time to catch up. I like the cartoon logo in the center of your image, especially with the two fonts. The embossed edge is a good touch. I might move the lower text off the edge, as the descending letters conflict with the emboss effect. Your ring is well done. The texture throughout the can adds interest. Nice work.
And this is my day 9 - Complex selections, another caipirinha 🥰
@severe ice Welcome back!!! Cool design with the Brush Tool, especially with how you framed the DNA in that swirling electric looking design. Im not sure if you meant the DNA strands to be behind or in front of the swirl (or maybe both, as it is now). The text fill could use some help. I would suggest you try the electric blue from the swirl. See how you like it.
Thanks for the feedback Ted, I will try change the text fill to see how it looks 😉
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@young karma Your Transform Pattern design is very subtle. Perhaps try increasing the perspective effect a bit more to add interest to the design. You picked an interesting font design for the drink name.
Thanks @eternal mica , I appreciate the help. I simply could not figure out how to create natural shadowing, I tried. I just don’t know how to do that yet. I saw that there was disproportionate spacing, your lines really help for me to fix. Thank you!

@eternal mica do you mean something like this for the cat?
Indeed I did! Thanks for your feedback.

My cans in the fridge! Might use this as my Behance cover!

Thinking to up that in my portfolio
@serene wave Very lively bright design for the Frame Tool exercise. The images you used blend well together and create an eye catching display. The electric blue can color, and the text fill give good cohesion, as does the red stroke and fill on the smaller text. Im not sure what the Lorem Ipsum is doing in the upper corner though.
@young karma Good job on the Adjustment Layers exercise. The starry can BG is a good touch. Your work on the drink name font texture color all work well together. I would suggest you work with the rocket ship and the smoke clouds to make the edges less sharp, less "digital", and give them a more realistic sense of movement and depth.
@serene wave You really took the Brush Tool challenge to the next level. Using the square brush tip made the work very interesting. I guess you wanted to have a really dark design. My main suggestion would be to see how this would look if you brightened up the entire image quite a bit. But thats your decision. Your idea of a panel within the can BG is interesting. I think it might look better if that area was a shade of pink a bit darker than the pink BG you have. That would coordinate the overall can BG and make your design much easier to see.
@dusty karma Very good work on the Complex Selection exercise. It seems like the basic elements really work. I must admit, its hard to evaluate the design because it is so dark. I presume thats the effect you wanted to create. I would suggest you try the design by brightening up all of the elements and see how you like it. Unless, as I said, you intentionally want this darker presentation. Your design. Your decision.
Get some problem in the middle but did not know how come back and change the issue. Need to make a new one from start. 😆
My final Behance project: https://www.behance.net/gallery/123072049/PhotoShop-DCC-22nd-June-to-2nd-July-2021
Hi @eternal mica is this what you mean
haha, yes!!! The glow effect you added to the other brush strokes in the area is cool. Do you like it???
I'm making labels out of these tutorials for homemade kombucha. This one was a little tricky to resize to the can label. Why is the can label so large? My pictures lost a lot of resolution.
@limber flame You control all aspects of the text from the psb file. There are three layers in that file that contain text (Drink name, 330 ml, shrub seltzer) By double clicking on any of these, you will be able to change font, size, effects, fill, position, etc. Make sure you save the file before returning to the mock up so that your changes take effect. Did you convert images to smart objects before scaling them? The can images should have the exact resolution that the psb file has. There should not be any degradation of resolution.
@limber flame Really liking the textures and colors on these! The patterning within the G adds an interesting contrast to it and the drop shadow helps make it more clear. Like Ted said, if you worked within the given document file the sizes should match, though if you were working within a separate smaller document that could cause the need to scale up a lot. Nice job with these designs 👍
@glacial minnow I love how the little worm face is peaking over the purple shape. Really cool colors and layering with this brush stroke effect! I feel like it could glow even a touch more with a little bit of color dodge or a masked levels adjustment applied. Of course that really depends on how bold or subtle you want to go. Great colors!
@young karma Really digging the collaged/graffiti look of the pineapple with the texture and pixel sorting effect you made. The colors are looking really good too, nicely done!
@thorn geyser Really solid work in these designs! I love the variety in styles and color palettes, some really bold eye-catching designs for sure. I especially like the Chequerboard Cherry and Betta Blueberry designs which I missed before. The sort of 90s looking MTV/cartoon design of the Loud Lemon and Electric Lime design is super cool too, really nice stylistic range here. Well done!
@young karma What problem did you have? This looks great by the way, the gradient adds a lot of interest and the perspective warp effect is looking solid. The smaller/squished squares in the middle kind of give it a pinched look too, nice job!
@worldly plaza I love how far you took the mock-up for this design! It definitely makes for a nice presentation and portfolio piece. I really like how the can contrasts the color of the rest of the image to really make it stand out. Perhaps making the text at the bottom of the can and the center part of the design a little less obscured could help really show off the design? Great work!
@young karma I like the color contrast between the two squid for the Day 9 challenge, it really helps the shapes read more clearly. The background texture/image looks good too, nice work 👍
@young karma The patterns and textures within the W are looking great! Really nice illustrated look to it. I like how you repeated the blue/green and yellow throughout the design too, it all looks very unified. Nicely done!
Thank you

hello! whats the challenge?
Hi all! still clumsy using the panel and suddenly this morning orange came up to my mind two days a go, not perfect but I'm struggle to create it using the live shape, I had a problem maybe @sterile bane can help me, I create a shape but when I duplicate it, the shape did not in live shape mode, i did not understand why, but I continued it anyway, would you explain why please? sorry still newbie🙏
check on creative challenge section
@dark grail I am not sure whether I am not getting your problem or you explain it properly
I guess I did not explain it properly , sorry for that, I just edited my question, would you read it again 👆 ? thank you for your respond🙏
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @worldly plaza
Do you mean after duplicating the layer, that orange shape is not clipped with the 'Can' layer? If this is the case, then press 'Alt' from keyboard and take the mouse between the 'Can' layer and the 'shape' layer. You will see a clipping icon appearing on mouse cursor. Then click it.
sorry just edited my question again, I mean I'm using live shape mode not online shape, sorry for that, so when I duplicate the shape, the copy one is not in live shape mode, do you know why? and can I change the shape layer into live shape mode?
after duplicate the layer is the live shape become a restorize layer?
There is a way to turn any restorize layer to a live shape.
sorry for the previous message. It was for text layer convert into a shape layer. I guess I am not sure about the solution of your problem. wait for the experts, hopefully someone will response
ok, thank you anyway, 👍 I'm waiting from others members respond or admin the expert ...

@dark grail I apologize but Im not understanding what your issue is. Are you still having a problem? If you are, please try to explain one more time.
@young karma I guess this is for the Adjustment Layer exercise?? (It will help if you identify which exercise your submissions are for.) I like the blue tints on the first one. The second is a bit more washed out. I would suggest you repeat the blue from the small text into the drink name text. (BTW, ICY does not have an "E" in it.)
oh thank you
should I make this guy into a cute lemon demon?

My Project in Behance - June 2021 with Kathleen Martin: https://www.behance.net/gallery/122809771/Summer-Drinks
Which exercise are you submitting these designs for?
Finally had some free time to play around with Kathleen's great DCC's. This is the combo plan - pixel sorting, selections, pen tool and that pixel distortion thingy.
ok , I will show you some screenshot here is first pict, as you see, I put a red rectangle at a layer and rectangle at the properties, so for this layer I create a shape which is in live shape mode right? next I will show you second pict to see the difference
here in second pict, I duplicate the layer as you see there is rectangle at layer, but as you see at the properties bar is not in live shape mode, can I change this layer into live shape mode?
Day #8 For some reason I found this one a challenge
DCC05
well she didn't finish, i didn't finish.
@dark grail What method did you use to duplicate the layer. I used copy/paste and Ctrl J. In both cases the shape was copied as a live shape. And I was able to change the color in the shape by just clicking the fill box.
i duplicated the layer by click right button on the mouse and click duplicate layer, is that why live shape mode didn't show at the properties bar? is there a way to change it to live shape mode?
Go back to your original live shape layer and try Crtl>J. See if that solves your problem.

I just tried it, yes I had a copy one with live shape mode, so the conclusion is, there is no way I can change my previous copy layer to live shape mode because I did wrong step didn't I? I think I found my "why" Ted, Thank You👍 😀

that is the 0.000000001% life
Good Question 😀 and thanks for your answer! Well first of all i was practising using the frame tool and Kathleens psd for collage nr 2. Then on a second level I am thinking about colours (so in this case warm light colours) and of composition. So in this case i see that i am using a very symmetrical, centrified design, only accompinied by a few unsymmetrical decorative stars in the background. I am thinking about placing the collage star either higher or even making it bigger. Regarding my two different examples, I see they dont really illustrate my thoughts towards composition and colour. 😔 maybe i will make two more examples ans show 👍 😃

Just posting this here too. the label was actually done in Illustrator as part of the Ice cream festival so it doesn't fit any of the Photoshop challenge cans. I still have a lot to do with those. I hope to finish that challenge in the future.
@cerulean marten Your Transform Pattern can is awesome. Your work on the honeycomb is great. The meshing of the texture and the pattern adds real interest to the design. Your work in developing the bottom shape and flowers is also really cool. Theres nice cohesion throughout. A couple of small tweaks ... did you intend the bee logo to be transparent? I think it would look better if it werent. And I would increase the size of both the drink name font and the drink description font to be more prominent.
@cerulean marten Your Adjustment Layers exercise is well done. The BG layer and can BG make a nice combination effect. I would make a few suggestions. I would blur the edge of the bottom shape to be consistent with the blurring of the other objects in your design. I would increase the size and contrast of the drink name font.
@queen aspen Wonderful work on your Behance portfolio. The way you explained the evolution of each design was awesome. Seeing how you used each asset to create your final product is a great learning experience for anyone who wants to take the time to learn.
@arctic rover Thats a whole lotta brew in one can!!! All in all it looks great. My one overriding suggestion is Id love to see it with a lot more brightness added to the can. The design is so involved and intricate, its hard to appreciate all the elements when theyre presented in such a dark motif. I would also go with a much more conspicuous drnk name font and fill for the same reason. As always, just suggestions. Your design/Your decision.
Thanks, @eternal mica. It takes time to explain everything both to "myself" and to someone else. And by this way, I understand the process better. Thanks for your appreciation of my project.

@young karma Cool work on both of the Frames designs. In the first one I especially like the way the mountain in one of the layers almost creates its own layer shape. In the second one I think the black shapes running across the top create sort of a distracting gap. I would suggest you play with those few frames. The glow around the second drink name is a cool touch. Maybe give that a try on the first also??
@queen aspen Believe me, I know how much time I put into making my portfolios. And as I was working through yours I was saying to myself "no way I would take the time to put all this together". Really well done.
@glacial minnow I have so much to say about your Day 8, Day 9, and Behance portfolio. Your work is beautiful. If you dont mind Id like to mention your portfolio first. The cover design is elegantly simple and beautiful. The overall design is great, the shading, the gradient, that simple shape in the middle. My one suggestion would be to go with a larger font for the DCC to draw attention to that and maybe move the date and Kathleen below the line in a slightly less prominent font. The designs look great together. Your Day 9 design is awesome. The BG layer with the underwater feel is awesome. The coloring of the two overlayed fish is beautiful. And your selections are so well done. One tweak I'd make is to add some shadows to the can to add a sense of realism. An occlusion shadow would really make it look like the can is standing at the sea bottom, especially with the light you have coming from above. Last, your Pen Design is so creative. You chose to add interest to that added space by making it a shape in itself. Cool idea. Such really good work all around. 👏
dont know why the quality is bad
@young karma Good job with the Wind Blur can design. I would make two suggestions, I would use a BM to let more of the pineapple texture show through on your design. And I would reposition the drink name type a bit more away from the shape edge to give the type a little room to breathe.
@young karma Just to continue your theme, I ............ 😂 😂 😂
@bronze bluff Powerful design concept. I really like the font you chose. I guess this was submitted for Day 9 Complex Selections. If so, well done. The merging of the feathers and the fish is very well done. Making the can blue also adds to the impact. One nit pick, I would move the drink name text away from the bottom shape edge to give the text more room to breathe.
@young karma Your Frame Layer design is well done. The fill designs are interesting. I would add one more design on the top edge where you have a black layer. Or maybe add some other color/design there. (Did you intend to name the drink amBrosia or amErosia??)
@young karma Welcome. We're happy youve decided to join us. If you need help finding your way around, just give a shout. We're here to help. Good work on your Day 1 design. The double rings are well done. You may want to see how you masked them where they meet the planet. The texture you added to the bottom shape fill looks good. I like that you added a can color. Your design has good cohesive look.
@ornate spoke AWESOME PORTFOLIO!!! I love the creativity in the presentation. Are each of those individual images that you uploaded??
@ornate spoke How did you get the images to appear to overlap??
Teddy! Thanks for the input! Yes those are individual images but to get them to overlap I had to design the layout pages in illustrator: 3 individual frames at 1920x1080 side by side together with no negative space. Then I just constructed my mood board design on top with various works ive done over the last week or so.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@ornate spoke TIL something new. I didnt know you could do that. Ive never seen it before. I really really love it.
Sorry wrong dimensions, what I did was composed the original setup as: 1300 wide by 10000 long - then replicated each section with the same width but with 2 different lenghts. 1 at 500 long (For title logo and the last page that says thank you) and the rest of the pages are at 1000 pixels each in length. I just saved this as the default "Behance/Portfolio" layout design. The rest of the design process is up to the designer!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
Here, my challenge 4
And my challenge 5, what do you think of my first five challenge ?
@young karma Nice work with the Pen Tool design. The merging of the face sections with the fill is done well. I would make a couple of suggestions. Perhaps a shadow along the the section of the fill that meets the chins would help it add depth to that section to align better with the chins, especially along that long straight edge on the right side. For some reason that edge seems out of place.
@ornate spoke Super creative. Great idea. So you did most of the layouts and designing in Ai, using the images from Ps. With full attribution to you, Im going to play around with that in Ai, at which I'm not very good, to see how I can create with that effect. If I can master it, you will be the creative designer of one of my portfolios in the future!!!
@severe ice Beautiful Pen Tool design. Your inert is well done. I like the glow around the ellipse shape. I think a shadow around the can would be a really nice addition for some realism. Theres one small spot at the top left of the insert where you might want to clean up how the insert meets the head.
@gaunt wagon Very well done Pen Tool design. Your insertion is right on. The can BG adds interest, as does the can color. Good work
@safe flint Im up to Challenge 9 in my Ice Cream Festival AI DCC.
@swift bough, what do you mean the quality is bad???
as in the picture quality
Thanks for the feedback on this. I didnt know if it was actually good but will change it to see how it looks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @eternal mica
@swift bough You have plenty time. The re-airing of the entire DCC starts tomorrow. Your design looks good. I would add some blur to the grapes to give them perspective. They look a bit "digital".
@eternal mica Design Layout for what I did - you can adjust it for landscape use with Instagram square dimension sizes to develop that carousel look with overlapping/combined image design thing (I dont know what its called)
Ya same im not very good at designing imagery in AI so i predominantly use it for layout design and templates. (Theres literally so many steps in there to accomplish things lol) Template is for everyone, im not the first to design this style but I hope it helps people with formatting and layout designs in Behance and their portfolios!!
@limber thistle Wow, youre catching up quickly!!! Day1 looks good. Im not sure if you intended it, but the masking of the rings is a bit short of the planet on both sides. The transform pattern is well done. Your can really looks "pinched" in the middle. I like your gradient choice. Your Day3 design has a black line across it. Its from your can BG mage. It wasnt noticeable on the other designs, but it is here and the next ones. You may want to work with the BM to control when you want it to show through and when not. I would add a blur to the edge of the rocket ship and the smoke to give them each more realism. Good work with the clipping mask. The C looks cool. The color palette here is consistent and strong. The Wind Blur is also well done. Youre BM allows the texture of the pineapple to show through. Nice job all the way through. Well Done.
@ornate spoke Thank you so much for posting that. Youre not going to believe this. In this very DCC (which Im up to #9 in) Julia had us create a combination artboard which is 10 artboards long and then post each individual design in the long artboard. I think its similar to what you did. Im definitely going to play with your concept and hers and see how each plays out.

LOL I keep putting off Julias DCC, im on day 4. My Ice Cream designs are catching cob webs in their folder! Ill have to do them now just so I can get to day 9 and see her rendition as well!
Thank you for your feedback, for these challenge I began last week and I took my time, I prefer posting many challenge at once and not one challenge at a time.

@ornate spoke She demoed the technique in Day 0.
@limber thistle Take your time. You have 2 more weeks to complete them. Today Adobe began re-airing the whole set.
Thanks, @eternal mica

@severe ice Hahaha, It drives me nuts when Sam or Valdair point something like that out to me. I grit my teeth and say how did they see that and I didn't. But now that I'm a big shot mentor, I get paid to find it!! (Just kidding, only using the phrase 😉😉)
@young karma Great colors on this design! I really like the way the vertical and horizontal shapes contrast each other. The repetition of the orange from the cat in the text is a nice way to tie the design together. Well done!
@limber thistle These both came out really well! Challenge 4 has a really nice look and balance to the colors and patterns within the C shape, and Challenge 5 has some really great texture. I think both challenges have a solid cohesive look with how the colors are balanced and repeated in the design. Challenge 1-3 are looking solid too, nice job with each technique. I especially like the texture in Day 1 and the colors and contrast in Day 3. Looks good!
@swift bough No problem at all! We have 2 weeks of the Challenge replays and we'll be here in the Discord. This looks good! If I had any suggestion it might be to boost the brightness on the grapes a bit to give it some more contrast. You could even brighten the moon up a bit to push that contrast even more. A levels adjustment or boost with a color dodge layer could both work nicely. Also the quality seems good to me, but Discord sometimes compresses images in an odd way, but if you click the image, then click “Open Original” at the bottom you should see the full quality version. Nice job!
@safe flint Super cool take on this challenge, I love the illustrated aspect of it! The colors work great for the theme of the flavor and I feel like the text fits the illustration nicely. My only suggestion might be to increase the overall size of the clown logo to make it a bit more prominent and eye catching. Looks great!
