Hello @placid spoke! Your image with the whale really moves me. Next time I stand on a mountain top looking through my telescope, I will imagine this image, a whale arriving to fetch me and carry me to magical places. I was wondering, would it be too much to possibly put lights in the cabin windows? Thank you for sharing!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @placid spoke
Hi, Fery! What is the best way to distort or transform those cars in the sky? Is that so that I should use perspective tool as well? What would you suggest to improve else in that composition?
you don't need to,unless you want to change the perspective itself, but what I said was,you can make those car tilted by rotating it using free transform tool @copper moss
Do you mean to bend the drone´s front side down? Or others cars?
other cars @copper moss because if you watch some sci fi or action movie which is pulling some cars using an airplane or something else,it will not go straight,it will have a wobble like up and down
Ahaa, tild the cars down better or up? You said higher...
thanks for the compliment .yeah i can put some lights in the windows ,].

Challenge 8. Just playing.
@signal helm That is the magic of Discord. I find paying attention here has taught me as much on the creative side as the DCC sessions have taught me on the technical side. The people in this chat are fantastically creative.
@bleak wedge I suggest you post that in ask-a-question tab. The moderators there will help you
@ruby panther was the “collection box” part of the original image or did you add that in?
@compact pecan Part of the original photo.
I think you really pulled-off a great effect for the statue. It kind of reminds me of silver that is beginning to tarnish (in a good way).
Thanks @compact pecan

Really nice addition of the text! I think your shadowing under the house is great
Photo to Illustration
@timid pier really creative take on the challenge! The explosion effect looks good. I might suggest increasing the brightness of the bombs so the stand-out a little more, and maybe add a little more red/orange highlights to the whale’s belly (but that’s just me being picky).
Challenge No.6. Thank you for the inspiration @placid spoke

Daily Challenge#9
@vague swift Very solid work! I love the water effects you added into the sky, it adds an additional dimension of that effect of swimming in the sky. The color grading ties everything together really nicely and gives it a cinematic look and feel. Lighting with the moon and whale looks excellent too! Very nice work!
@ripe quest Hah, very cool! Nice job compositing these different elements together. It might be nice to add a bit of a shadow under the house and maybe the person on the rock too. One subtle nitpick I have is that the whale is sharper than the figure in the foreground which makes the depth a bit confusing since usually atmospheric perspective causes it to be the other way around. Sometimes I like to use the sharpen and/or blur functions to balance this but oftentimes it helps if you're working with high resolution images from the get go. Just some thoughts of course, looks good!
@wooden bloom Very cool! I really like how you pushed the atmospheric perspective effect with the faded contrast and blue tint of the whales. The fish are a great addition too, though perhaps increasing their contrast a touch (specifically in the dark tones) could make them read a bit more clearly while still appearing to be off in the distance. This came out really nicely!
@severe ice Great work with the shapes here! I like how you varied the contrast and color grading a bit to give them a nice pop from the background. I wonder if giving the background a really subtle blur could push that separation even further, but it really just depends what you're going for. The stroke around the triangle helps with this effect as well. Nice work!
@gaunt forge Really cool image! I like how you kept the color of the text consistent with the color scheme of the image. My only suggestion is I think the text could be given a bit more contrast to give it a stronger read against the background. Perhaps a subtle drop shadow could be an easy way to do this. Looks good!
Day 9 Fun!!
@bleak fossil thank you Sam.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@dusky swallow Looks great! I really like all the colorful fish you added. The faded contrast gives a nice sense of atmospheric perspective. My only suggestions would be that I think you could make the shadow of the kids a bit darker so it matches the rest of the shadows we see on the rock, and then mask it off where it meets the rest of the rock's shadow for a more realistic look. It could also help to lower the contrast in the dark tones of the kids just a bit so it more closely matches the contrast level of the rocks and makes them appear like they're at the same distance. Nice job!
the whale's are getting around 🙂

@bleak fossil What do you think? I only had to increase the opacity of the blending mode for the shadow and little touch in the curves for the kids. But I think it makes a big difference to tell the truth. Although you may think something different is needed and I am willing to learn

In the context of the kids and their young imaginative minds, I agree that flying whales in an imaginary scene makes perfect sense. For us older people, flying whales would be some kind of hallucination or a dream. I love your rendition <3. Thank you for your work and for sharing. This would be a very satisfactory illustration for a children's story experience.

Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge#01
@tardy talon Both of these #1 challenges are looking good! I really like the color contrast and depth of the first one. The focus between the background and foreground leaves work really well to give the image a nice focus. Nicely done!
@storm ridge I really like the background shapes you created for this! It fits nicely with the background gradient and gives the bird a nice focus. The text and its masking are a nice touch too, looks good!
@queen aspen Really cool combination of images, the colors are awesome in this. I especially like how the centerpiece has the most bold colors and contrast which makes for a nice focal point. The glow effects are looking great and the whole thing has a nice, almost surreal quality to it. Well done!
@severe ice You definitely nailed the metallic look in the hands on this design! The background texture adds a lot of interest but without being too bold in contrast as to compete with the hands. The color contrast also works really nicely against the more neutral background. Nicely done!
@normal gale This looks great, I really like the background you chose! The color scheme has a nice unity to it and the bird works really well as the focal point with it's brighter values and colors. My only suggestion might be to darken down the feet/lower part of the bird where it meets the stump so the lighting appears a bit more like it fits together. Very cool!
Thank you so much @bleak fossil
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@timid pier Hah, that whale looks so sinister. The bold color contrast makes for a really striking look to the image and you did an excellent job of making the moon light look like its fits with the whale. I like how we see some of the warm red light around the bottom front of the whale, perhaps changing the cool blue light at the bottom of the whale to more of that warm red would look more realistic? It doesn't need to be quite as big/noticeable as the blue light, like we see in the red towards the front bottom. Nice work!
@karmic fog I love what you did with the focus and size change of the center part of the image. The graphic elements and blurred background create a really strong focus and clear read. The graphic shapes have a really nice composition to them as well, looks great!
@mortal crescent Really nice job with the color grading in this image, it definitely has a convincing look of everything being under water. This is just a random thought, but I wonder if you could push that feeling even more by softening the contrast of the dark tails to make them slightly lighter, and maybe even using an iris blur so the tails are ever so slightly less in focus than the rest of the body. Just an idea of course, but I wonder if it might mimic that feeling of how things are easily obscured in the distance under water like in this image. Looks good!
Thank you! Yes I 100% agree, it's looking just a little bit too bright.

hello people, quick question - test your memory. Jesus did a challenge ages ago turning a guy into super heroish character. Any one know what date that was 🙂
Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge#02
@vague swift are you sure it was JR in a DCC? You can check @wary swan database for all DCCs.
@vague swift if you are referring to Spideyman, that was July 31, 2020.
@vague swift You brought back a great memory for me. That was my first set of DCC's. I had no idea what the heck was going on. I thought JR was a crazy person. I watched the video over and over going one mini step at a time. And I still couldnt make my image look anything like JR's. 🤣 🤣 🤣
@vague swift The man who burst into flames was on March 25, 2020.
@eternal mica. Funny. I agree. I had just started the DCC's, too. Jesus really packed the knowledge in. Whew! Hope he comes back to do a DCC.
@tropic knoll I just went back and checked. I was so lost on that particular challenge, I didnt even save my work. That sort of sums up how I made out that day.
@eternal mica I know the feeling. His challenges were just that . . . a challenge. Pushed us all to the limits! 😄
challenge 08
Warping & Distorting 🐋
@tropic knoll that was one of my first DCCs as well. @eternal mica I actually went back and finished it recently, but at the time my work was less-than-Behance_project-worthy to say the least. JR goes really fast, so I had to re-watch and hit pause & rewind a bunch of times!
@tropic knoll @compact pecan so awesome how we've all grown together. The Discord community is amazing.
@tropic knoll & @eternal mica - so true. It seems like a lot of us were searching for the end of the internet at the onset of the pandemic and we stumbled upon the PSDCCs. And Discord has really helped me improve!
@eternal mica Really loving the colors on the Metallic/Prismatic hand images! I especially like the first one with the more simple background. I think it creates some really nice color contrast that lets the hands pop. Really interesting effect!
@eternal mica The Musical Brushes challenge is looking good! I like what you did with the graphic musical shapes in this one. My main critique would be that I think it gets a bit visually busy near the bottom with the guitar, text, and graphic shapes all overlapping. Perhaps lightly fading the opacity of the graphic shapes with a mask near the bottom could give it a bit more balance. I also like what you did with the background blur, but I notice the foreground of that image is more out of focus than the further background, which I don't think would quite make sense if the people are the focused subject. I also wonder if giving the musical notes a really subtle drop shadow effect would help the readability at all, but that's hard to say without seeing it. Just some ideas of course, really nice job with this one!
@astral stump I really like the glowing effect here, the color has some really nice pop as well. I feel like you could even boost the brightness of the effects layer a bit more, and perhaps even darken down the background to give the whole thing a bit more contrast and a stronger read. Very cool!
@tardy talon This came out really nicely! I like your take on combining the flowers with the flamingos. It could be interesting to fade the edges of the petal where it meets the neck to give the two images a bit more of a seamless blend. Also if you're getting that slight dark outline around the edge of the selection of the flower sometimes contracting the selection by a pixel or two with Select-Modify-Contract can help with that. Nice job!
@bleak fossil Thank you for your comments. I'll go back and look at both images with what you suggested in mind. It happens I posted my portfolio and finalized my video earlier today, so I dont think I'll go back and recreate them. But I appreciate your thoughts.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@severe ice This Warping & Distorting challenge came out well! I really like the color grading and texture you added, it gives it an interested almost aged look. The masking and compositing is looking really good. My only suggestion might be to increase the contrast, specifically the dark tones of the man standing on the rock. He seems to have lighter contrast than the whales which should be the other way around given how atmospheric perspective works. Really nice job with this design!
Nicely done!
Great use of curves and your nice gradient and vanishing grids in background add a nice touch. Well done!
Hey Sam, thank you for the observation, I did what you suggest and look so much better now. ⚡

thank you sooo much for the feeback 🙂 ... i will do as you suggested ... thanks again 🙏

@bleak fossil I agree. I liked the first image better also. I did the second one to try to integrate the liquify that PT was working with. I struggled quite a bit with it. I couldnt get an effect I was happy with. I think the curves adjustments were perfect without that extra technique applied.
@bleak fossil Youre way too sharp. I can never get anything by you. I used the tilt blur. I didnt want to crop the central figures, so i was pressed up against the top of the image. I ended up blurring more of the bottom, just because there was so much more space there. 🤷♂️ 🤷♂️ I added drop shadows to the notes, just to see how it looks. It still leaves the bottom of the image too busy. I'll do better next time.
My second approach on this Warping & Distorting challenge.

What do you think? How could this be better? It's my first attempt at puppet warp and neural filters.
I really like your image. I like the canvas texture - it gives it an “artsy” look. What I would change (if it were my image) is the red bird - I think I would try and get some more contrast in colors. Otherwise, I think your clouds look great and I like how the leaves make a heart but it’s (maybe) blowing in the wind.
Here is my DCC #6
Thanks for the feedback Ted, I will look in to that.

Challenge 7 4-7-2021 Metallic to Prismatic version 2 add more contrast.
I finally got some time to do something for challenge nine.
Thanks for your comments! Yes, the heart is intended to be blowing in the wind. I agree the left bird looks rather flat. Will see what I can come up with. That’s gradient mapping. Is there another method you’d suggest?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @compact pecan
Super dig the noise in your gradient @storm ridge
Is this bird better? The ends of the vines are not as distinct as I would like...
DCC 1: bird from universe
I just suggest playing around with the gradient maps. Sometimes reversing the colors or choosing a slightly different hue can make a big difference, since it's all based on the lights and darks of the image.
I like this one! I would recommend putting a shadow underneath the end of the heart to separate it from the bird, but in this case it would be backlit. I think it would be darker where the bird's shadow would be covering it, and add some highlights to the rest so you give it the sense that the sun is shining on it.
Illustration - Second attempt: I used Filter Gallery - Sketch - Plaster; then I added some outlines with strong and thin drop shadow, inner shadow and inner glow; applied noise linear gradient and finally added several glass textures.
Challenge #9 4-9-2021 Warping & Distorting
@wary swan nice job. What would you like to be focal point? If its the whales, perhaps lower brightness/contrast of images in front, maybe even blur them a bit, and increase brightness of whales so theyre more dominant.

Finally got around to completing day 9
Really awesome and creative image! I like how you included three whales, and the front one is breaking the border. It has a really nice feeling of depth. As a super-picky critique, I'd suggest the whales would be a little darker and more saturated given the deep yellows and greens of the background, and the whale on the left would be back-lit based on the position of the sun. But, I suggest that as "finishing touches" because your composite is very well done and the cutouts are really clean and the overall composition of the scene is well done!.
I really like the colors in Day 6 along with the simplicity. I like the same approach to Day 5 with the simple line drawing - your lines have a really nice flow and you include enough for the mind to fill-in the rest - the addition of the bright spot in the center also really helps to draw the viewer's eye to the model's face, which would be very important in a line drawing like this. I like the different filters you used for Day 3, but I think the last one (bottom right) is my favorite, It gives me an old-photo kind of feel with the golden/sepia type overlay.
I like the overlay of colors from the lake image - great idea to use the sky in that image as the major color for the finished composite. The bridge and windmill both have good matching colors and really blend well into the scene. I think if this were my image, I might have blurred the "black hole" just a little to help it blend-in a little bit more, but that's my personal preference. Very creative project!
Day 2: Merge Images. What do you think? Are there too many birds? Do the colors work well? I licensed the hummingbird but the watermark didn't go away. What did I do wrong?
Day 5 DCC
Thanks, @compact pecan for your feedback. BTW, I tried to blur a "black hole" but I didn't like the result. So, I left it untouched.

Hello everyone !!!! I have uploaded my first practice packaging project on behance ... would love if everyone could check it out ..... will also appreciate a like or a feedback......https://www.behance.net/gallery/117883015/Chocolate-Packaging-Choco-Latina
I really like the colors! I think I might reduce the number of birds to either one or three, and if you go with three, one of them would be the prominent bird. Overall, your image looks good, but to emphasize that you are combining images, I think the simpler the better. As for your stock image, you may have to refresh your screen after licensing it. Otherwise, my experience is that it automatically goes away once you download it.
Haha, it’s easy to sit back and recommend ideas, but much tougher to make them work. 😉 Your image looks solid, so take my suggestions as just an idea.
I finally got around to uploading my project on Behance, and I'd appreciate if everyone could check it out and leave a like and/or feedback! 😃 https://www.behance.net/gallery/117894167/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-April-2021

Day 7 - Metallic to prismatic (2nd attempt). I think there are both of them - metal & prism 🙂
This is the original picture taken in Bulgarian mountains (by me)
DCC 4 Light&Shadow
@hushed spade both are really great - I think I like the “Poodle Hair” better because the colors stand out a little better between the background bricks and the subject. I think the hair in the second one has some added contrast as well. Nice!
@outer gulch I like your use of the gradient for the background and how it really brings out the statue. I think you chose a really nice color palette for the overall image as well.
Really nice! Love how you mixed the two effects on the same image. Metallic background add a nice focal point on your prismatic flower. Great job!
"Poddle Hair" is my favorite (T-shirt and hair texture, overall color grading...etc)... but "Starry Night" looks great too. Nicely done!
Thanks, @hollow yarrow for your feedback. I was trying with several images but didn't like all of them before I found this one. I thought it will be great to isolate the thistle at the center and it worked.

I think I like this color better only because it is on brand with my brand lol very cool stylization 🤘
Nice wave effects. Love the idea of geometric shapes. Waves around the right eye are maybe a bit too bright (but it's just a personal feeling). I really like how flares and/or filters used add a nice warm tone on the main subject (contrasting with cold colors of waves and background). Great job!

DCC - Day 9
Really well done!
I love one it has all the goddess vibes
VooDooVal I can't wait to get started! Sounds exciting! I haven't finished a DCC all year. Maybe this one will be different.
oops frank sorrry!!!!
Great presentation with the film slides as background. Novel merge of baby chick and tennis ball. Tongue out Tuesday is tomorrow mostly on twitter. Sometimes on facebook. Do you twitter?
I think my theme might be life at the cabin
I also would like to be able to create a realistic watercolor effect, though that might not be applicable here.
My Behance project for the coming DCC
No problem!😉
I have a twitter account I don't really visit and use it often... I'm more "IG"
The “Tennis Chick” is awesome, @hollow yarrow !
Inspired on this incredible Adobe Max's Tips with @sterile bane, Look this little Profile Pic I did, uh!!
And with this signature down picture... That the first, I hope you guys enjoy-it, right??
Check out Fresco for some amazing watercolor effects. You can control the water, the flow etc etc. its pretty cool.
I totally reserve the right to change my banner at any time that I feel like it! Went for the comfy vintage chair look.
I am absolutely in love with Fresco’s live oil and water color brushes. The other cool part about Fresco is that you can also import Photoshop brushes into Fresco. I do the majority of my pixel based sketching and shading in Fresco and then export it as a PSD or if I’m working with vector brushes I’ll send it straight to Illustrator from Fresco.
🚀
Thanks!

@hollow yarrow it's very interesting to see the WIP of your Final image. I had to look at the chick tennis ball over and over. It's terrific. I like the electricity that the blue adds to the middle image. The fantasy is beautifully executed.
Hi there, It's my DCC cover! Hope to share some stuff with you on the next days!
Looks cool! I like that the frog kind of looks a little indifferent, lol (don’t know if that intentional, but I totally dig it). think I have a really concept for my DCC cover graphic. But I won’t be able to get started until later tonight. I have a four final tonight (ugh...). I’m planning on putting in some hours on it after a little bit of rest.
My cover image for VooDoo Val's PSDCC. The theme for this challenge is everyone's ideas.
Thanks! Will do.

@hollow yarrow These are looking great Franck! I remember seeing a couple of these on your Instagram. I hadn’t seen the Metallic to Prismatic design until now. Really nice job getting that reflective/metallic look. I really like the silver look of #3 but I think they’re all working really well. Great work!
@compact pecan Nice depth and sense of perspective with the open head effect! I like contrast of the horror-esque look with the simple white background. It could be interesting to give the lightbulbs in the head a slight glow like they’re taking on some of the glow from inside the head. I often like to use color dodge for this, but it really just depends what you’re going for. Looks good!
@kindred sleet Looks good! I really like the clean, structured look of the text for this cover design. It fits the look and feel of the image you used very nicely. Looking forward to seeing what you all create!
@short mica I like your use of texture on this cover design! The border has a really interesting look to it with the dotted, starry looking texture. Very nice!
@arctic rover Hah, that’s the fun of it, changing designs or decisions any time you want. I like the simple, clean color scheme to this. Nice work!
Thanks for your comment. Really appreciated!

Singing in Beach... Let's play some hearts in the sea?? Awesome tips from #AdobeMAX with @sterile bane
@agile dagger I remember this challenge! This looks really nice, the orange adds a really nice color accent to give this portrait more life. I think you could probably even use a levels adjustment to boost the bright tones of the image to make it pop even more from the black background. The brightness might also help balance out the boldness of the orange. Nicely done!
@dusky wave Really cool background pattern! I think it might help to increase the contrast on the text a little, particularly the bottom one with your name since it’s currently hard to see. The color contrast and brightness of the PS and Adobe logo are overpowering everything else so doing that might add some nice balance. Nice job!
Thanks!
When is the daily challenge starting
First challenge is Tuesday at 9:00am Pacific time @young karma
@limber thistle Excellent work on all these! Very nice to see them all together, there’s a nice clear readability to all your designs. I especially like challenge 1 and 4. Looking good!
@young junco Very nice job compositing all these together Charles! I like how the composition makes the diver a strong focal point with how all the shapes are directed towards him. My only suggestion would be to make sure the contrast of all the different elements matches. Meaning that the deepness of the dark tones and the brightness of the light sources are around the same levels. The dark tones of the whales and bottom left fish don’t quite seem as deep as the the dark tones of the dolphin and diver for example, and the light sources for the dolphin, whale, and submarine all seem a bit different. Just some thoughts of course. Loving the style on the line drawing challenge by the way, very nice work!
@chilly hawk Great color contrast in this metallic prismatic design! The hands, background, and metallic effect behind the hands all have a really nice clear read against each other. The effect behind the hands has a really cool look to it too, definitely has a sort of liquid metal look to it. Very cool!
@outer gulch I really love the color and texture contrast of this effect for the Supercharge image! The detailed texture against the simple background really gives it a clear focus and the color palette works nicely. Nice work!
Not quite sure where we are going..., but I heard things about furniture, patterns, perspective. For the moment this is my working cover. Looking forward to the challenge. Thanks Voodoo!
Thanks, @bleak fossil ! I’ll experiment with color dodge and see what I can turn out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Charles, Good morning. Thank you for the info. I'm gonna check it out now.📸
Welcome DCC. I look forward to VooDoo Val's DCC's! Thank you!
I have a real problem with @jolly quest ignoring us mac persons that are not as fast. Plus how fast she goes in the stream. I can not relate any more the windows keyboard.
@dusky wave Hey there! I did reply in the chat because I saw your comment as the stream ended!
I do know the Mac commands to, so from now on I will make sure to call those out!
I can also get a program that will display my keyboard presses on the screen for you!
so they will appear as I press them 🙂
@dusky wave That is why we have replays. The DCC instructors only have about 20 mins to show their challenge. They have to go fast. I always watch the replay before I start working on challenge. Also go to "Edit">"Keyboard Short Cuts" if you want to know the short cuts.
Could use some more shading, but all I have time for today. Thanks for the Voodoo!! I love the name!!!
I can't find the fill color option.

Well after listening to it again here is my Shapes & Gradients
PSDCC Day 1 with VooDoo Val - Shapes and Gradients
Don't worry, I am working on one with a cat in it.
I’m glad someone else does this! I watch it once to watch the instructor create the challenge but it helps me brainstorm some original ideas. Then the 2nd watch (and sometimes 3rd watch) I follow along and make my challenge.
Here is a really good visual image for PS shortcuts from JR - it shows both Win + Mac shortcuts.
Hey guys...
Based in this awesome Photoshop Masterclass, I did some compositions about beauty, awesome teachs and tips @brittle slate
Challenge #01: Shapes and Gradients: Create 3D effect. I do not own any Cintiq, did it by mouse. Daenerys´ door knocker. Sorry, I misspelled the word door knocker.
PS DCC #1 Shapes & Gradients
I went for a completely different object after seeing Val's word examples. It's my cousin's birthday today. So I practiced on her name. Not sure if I got the values/shading right. I made it look like chiseled, smooth stones.
I haven't the time for that kind of attitude. so I guess if you are not a Photoshop expert then you should not do the challenges in order to learn & grow my skills. I have little under a year of PS experience.
PS DCC Day1 - wanted to create everything from onboard-stuff. textures (the rough metal and the wooden background) are created with different filters (clouds, fibres, sand) - could do more on the background (aging and lighting) but tried to keep it short (it took about 30 minutes)
It was not inteded, but I think this looks like a late 90s early 2000s game's graphic element 😄
An eye;)
First try with brushes
Day 1 - Shapes and Gradients
@compact pecan I think I always watch the video at least twice. There are many cases I watch more than twice.
Quite difficult to draw with a mouse 🐭
This project was fun! but it was a bit hard drawing with a mouse 😀
pretty cool challenge!
PS Challenge No.1: Texture brushing. I should have probably used a different background to have more contrast in there, but the challenge was really interesting and it was quite meditating to brush around. But that was all I got time today. Good night!
Challenge #1 - Nonody would like to knock that door!
I don't know if the metal effect is ok, I get the feeling it looks like a stone ...
Day 1- Knock knock...

@eternal mica Really cool idea with the bull head! The texture you added does a great job of giving it a bit more of that realistic metal look. My only suggestion might be increasing the contrast of the ring to match the contrast and lighting of the bull head. For example, the top light source of the bottom part of the ring works really well, so adding a bit more of that brightness on the top part of the ring could help. Also deepening the shadow of the underside of the ring to match the shadow portion of the bull head could really help tie the two elements together. I'm not sure if that description was confusing, but perhaps this example helps. Very nice work, I really like how the gold contrasts the background texture!
@split pier This came out excellent! Really great sense of form, and the shine gives it a really convincing metal look. I especially like how the shine looks on the textured green section of the knocker. The background texture is a really nice touch as well, nicely done!
@lucid plover Hah, cool idea, I like the shading and depth you added to this. The combination of the background graphic shapes works well too. I wonder if changing the color of the top shape to a bit of a cooler tone might give the donut even more contrast like we see on the bottom portion? Just depends what you're going for. Nice work!
@bleak fossil Sam thanks for your comments. WOW, you're fix is great. I feel my weakest skill, the one I really need lots of practice in, is drawing. I will try to put more work in on the shadows and lighting. Looking at your sample will be a great guide to shoot for. Thanks for your time.

@young karma Great texture! It really gives it a convincing rusty/worn metal look, and the shading adds some really nice depth. Very cool!
@short mica Nice job with the light and shadow on this design! I think it might help to match the shadow side of the bottom of the ring to the shadow of the top side of the ring. It could also add some nice depth to give the background a slight gradient to give it a bit more of a realistic look in terms of lighting. Nice work!
@jagged granite Do you mean Behance?
@timid pier Really cool idea for the head piece of the knocker! I like the coloration you added to the ring to match the look of the metal of the head piece. The only suggestion I have is that I think the contrast of the ring could be increased. Currently the ring looks a bit faded in contrast to the head piece, though I think a quick levels adjustment could help with that. Nice job!
@icy cairn Really cool style to this! Kind of gives me the feel of a metal knocker in a green overgrown forest type of environment. Could even be cool to see a bit of moss texture on the knocker or background surface. Looks good!
@rancid river Phil, my best advice, look at the amazing posts here with awe and admiration, draw inspiration. Then get back to the drawing board, do your best, and post it here. We'll all admire your effort.
@jagged granite I like the texture you added on the knocker design, it definitely gives it more of a metallic feel. The highlights along the middle ridge of the ring help push that effect as well. Nice job! Also, if you want to add an image to your Behance profile just click the “Create a Project” button in the top right of Behance next to your profile icon.
@swift marten Nice job with the textures on this Day 1 design! The lighting and shadow is looking good as well. Some basic gradients on the ring holder pieces, as well as a bit more shadow on the underside of the bottom of the ring might look good if you want to push it even further. Nice work!
@dull lava I really like the shine effect you got on the sides of the ring, it definitely gives it a nice metallic look. A bit of a gradient on the ring holder pieces might help match them to the depth and realism of the ring a bit more. Looks good!
@rancid river I think this is looking good! Perhaps adding a metal photo texture to the ring and boosting the overall contrast (both darks and brights) with a levels or curves adjustment layer could accentuate that metallic look even more. Nice work!
@dusky swallow Very cool, great textures in this design! The wooden background texture really adds a lot of context, I could picture this door being the door of the captain's quarters on a pirate ship or something, hah. I like the rustic look the texture adds to the metal. This is a bit of a subtle suggestion, but I feel like perhaps the texture could be lightly reduced in the dark area of the ring holder piece, and maybe even in the underside of the top part of the ring. Typically texture is most apparent in the lighted areas of an object and less so in the shadows. Might add a touch of realism, just a thought of course. Nicely done!
Thank you for the feedback, Sam. I did rush this one a little but agree I could have given more attention to the finer details... Will be back at it for Day 2!

@vagrant rapids Super cool! This came out really well. It has a bit of a stone look to it in a way (which is cool on its own) but if you wanted it to look a bit more metallic I'd try lowering the opacity of the texture slightly. Loving the golden, monochromatic look of this piece. Really nice!
@bleak fossil Thanks so much for the feedback. It's greatly appreciated!

Challenge #01: 3D effect: Daenarys´door knocker. Misspell is corrected. I used what there were suggested. Knocker keepers are in Bevel&Emboss and added dragon eye in BM screen with lower opacity. No cintiq. Used crayon brush.
Here's the challenge 01
Really cool colors and I like the texture of the background. The highlights on the top left really sell it as a surface with some aging imperfections.
In this challenge any one can say me which brush i can use for such nice 3d effect
Challenge #1
There are lots of cool brushes. The granite gloss brush is cool. I’m partial to the impressionist and concept brushes, personally. I’m not sure which of those would work best for this one though. Mine was a little different than the door knocker. But I did a version with with the Winter 2020 flurries 2 brush (which I didn’t post). On the challenge I did post I used an impressionist brush and one of the concept brushes (but I can’t remember which off the top of my head)

DCC Day 2,Perspective Study
Hello @crystal aurora, if you for example:
- make a rectangle and fill it with a color,
- then convert the layer into a smart object,
- then distort the rectangle in perspective,
- insert your texture into the smart object,
then the distortion is automatically in.
Like here with the book cover.

...a pair of boxes on the Paris metro, each with a handle from yesterday's challenge (...Discord doesn't like the plural of knocker apparently)
#psdailychallenge2 – I´ve made the box and changed the floor.
@young karma nice work! I love the mood of it! The blue color creates a spooky psycho killer look to it,but I would suggest you to darken the box with a blood on it and also the saw or something and add some cast shadows on the ground to make it more realistic, because you have to keep in mind that the lighting is coming from the middle
Thank you so much for the tip and suggestion Sam, I will have that on mind and change it.

hello, are you buying content from challenges? As far as I know stock.adobe is a stock sheet with money.
@dusky wave Really neat! I like how you added multiple elements into this scene. I think it might help to make the text on the right wall set to a multiply layer to better show in the light section of the wall. I think you could also increase the perspective effect on the bio-hazard symbol and squish it vertically a bit for more realism. Lastly, the box is looking good but I think the bottom right line of the box could be lined up with the line on the floor for more accurate perspective.
@young karma Challenge 1 is looking good! I really like the orange glow effect as if flames are around it. There's some really nice contrast in the bottom of the ring, though I think perhaps the shadow on the bottom of the top side of the ring could be darkened a bit to push that metallic look and feel a bit more. Nicely done!
@copper moss This looks excellent! The texture and color variation adds a lot of interest and gives it a really strong sense of the ring's material. The way you colored and shaded the ring holder piece works really well and has some great dimension. I really like how the lighting gives it a bit of a gem-like feel. This turned out great!
@prisma ridge Hah, I like your take on this challenge. The "ring" has some nice dimension to it and fits well with the lighting of the background. The colors are really interesting too, it gives the whole thing a bit of a surreal look. Nice work!
@tropic knoll Really cool idea! I like how the lighting of the scene matches with the ring so well. My only suggestion might be to increase the contrast (specifically the dark tones) of the underside of the ring on the left side so it matches the contrast of the environment a bit more. This looks great!
@swift marten Really cool to see this challenge in an outdoor environment. The lighting on the box is working really well, though I think the back side of the box (closet side to us) could be even darker. My main critique is that the perspective looks a bit off on the horizontal side of line. The horizon line is somewhere around the middle of the image, so the parallel lines should angle upwards slightly so they would eventually intersect the horizon line. Here's a rough example. Really nice work!
@ripe quest Cool idea for the style of this Day 1 challenge! The reflection of the design on the floor plane is a really nice touch and the contrast on the ring gives it a really strong metallic look. Nicely done!
@eager vortex These variations are looking really good! I especially like the contrast of the second one which really sells that metal look. The 3rd one is really interesting too with that hot iron look, and the orange contrasts the purple ring holder piece nicely. Well done!
@spring isle Really nice texture variety on this Day 1 challenge! The deep shadows on the ring give it a nice sense of form. I really like the look and texture of the ring holder piece, though I'm not sure if it's supposed to be flat or have some gem-like 3D form to it. If so it might help to add some shadow to the shape to give it more of that 3D effect. I like using polygonal lasso tool and a multiply layer for that kind of thing. Here's an example. Nice work!
@lucid plover Really nice job handling the lighting in this Day 2 challenge, I really like the pop of color the boxes add. The perspective is looking good too!
Thank you @bleak fossil

Thank you @hollow yarrow
@queen aspen Really awesome work on this! You really nailed the perspective and texture which gives this a nice, realistic look. The decoration on top is a really nice touch too. My main suggestion is that the lighting doesn't quite match as much as it could. Each side of the dresser is a very similar value, breaking them up into different values to match the scene can really help sell the realism. Here's a quick example using a multiply layer.

My room is a toy store and I went for whimsical children’s book style. Fur direction, light and shadows could use more work. Ballerina in the funky style of Basquiat. I loved today’s lesson! Thanks Val!
Not very realistic or creative, but I am really learning a lot about how to utilize tools in photoshop. Did a little shadowing on far bottom but for some reason when I was trying to do natural lighting, it didn't really look natural.
😅
@timid pier Love your idea to utilize the images in both directions and blending to look seamless, looks like a great movie scene for an animated movie.
@dusky wave, love the use of design in this. All the textures makes the audience want to know more about the box in the room.
@tropic knoll Here's a quick example of what I mean, hopefully this helps. Just a bit more contrast overall, but specifically in the dark tones. Fairly subtle really, it's already looking very solid 👍
@vague shuttle I really like the sense of backlighting the rim light around the lettering gives it! Kind of a subsurface scattering look to it. Nice sense of dimension 👍
@icy cairn You really nailed both the perspective and lighting on this image and frame! The deep shadow really sets in the scene and matches the environment nicely. I love how the design adds a strong point of interest into the image. Great work!
@peak mesa Really nice work with the Day 1 challenge, the gold effect looks really good especially with the sheen and highlight effects. If you wanted to push it even further I think a bit more shadow on the underside of the bottom part of the ring could help, but this is looking solid! 你太牛了
@brisk bone Very cool to see you going for a wooden look to this one! I think the lighting sells that look very well, though I think perhaps the wooden texture could be a touch heavier to make it even more clear. I like the color contrast on this design too!
@young junco Looking good! Really like the strong rustic iron textures on this one. It really makes everything look quite heavy and strong. One small suggestion is that giving the bottom portion of the ring a bit of a cast shadow (like you did with where the ring holder piece connects to the wall) might help it read a touch more clearly from the background which has a similar value in that area. Nice job!
@jagged granite This looks great, it fits in with the scene very well! It could be nice to see a bit of an ambient occlusion shadow where the box meets the floor, kind of like you see along the wall behind it. A drop shadow within the layer's layer style settings might even do the trick. Nice work!
@dull lava Very nice work on the perspective! I really like the texture as well. If you scroll up a handful of posts from your design you'll see my post to Pankratt where I shared a process GIF where I edited the lighting of their design. I think the same suggestions and process apply to your image. Nice job!
Thanks, @bleak fossil. Really, you are right about lighting. I just couldn't imagine how it has to look like. Now I see how

#2_Perspective
Perspective
@eternal mica Really nice work on this image! I like the strong color contrast between the warm and cool light in this scene and how you reflected that in the boxes. The engraving designs are a really nice touch and the shadows are looking really solid.
My main suggestion would be that it appears that the perspective could be adjusted, assuming the boxes are supposed to be lined up with the wall and not rotated. Luckily this image has a very clear 1-point perspective. Meaning there's one visible vanishing point (V.P.) all the parallel lines (the blue lines) converge to. The horizontal, dashed blue line is the Horizon Line (H.L.) that V.P lands on. Once you find the V.P. by tracing where the parallel lines converge it becomes easy to trace where the perspective slant of the box's lines should be. Luckily in 1-point perspective the rest of the lines will be completely vertical or horizontal, so that keeps it simple. This critique is more of an explanation of 1-point perspective but hopefully that makes sense. Of course there's rules to determine how "long" each box should be as it goes further back into space, but that gets more complex. The main thing to remember is all parallel lines will converge to a common vanishing point. Looking good!
I know my work is basic but at least something is getting posted.
@nova lagoon This is looking really good! You did a really nice job of matching the table into the environment, both with light/color and texture. The perspective is looking really solid as well. The only thing that looks off to me is I think you could add a bit of shadow on the wall to the left of the table. The table-top and side of the table would be blocking the light landing on the wall a bit so it wouldn't be quite that bright. That might add some more realism. Nice work!
@bleak fossil Thanks. Thats a great mini tutorial. What Im understanding is that 1. define the VP; 2. Draw the blue guide lines; 3. Draw the shape outline (red lines) parallel to the guide lines; 4. fill in the shape. The red lines marking the edges of the shape should be parallel to the blue lines. Is that what my goal should be? When Im trying to do a perspective effect, is there a Ps tool that draws the blue lines, or is that something I need do myself?
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@eternal mica Yeah, typically I try to 1) establish where the horizon line is if there is a clear one. 2) Find the vanishing point by using parallel lines as guides to see where they converge. This is easiest in images with buildings or man made structures. 3) Draw out my own objects and make sure the parallel lines converge to that same vanishing point I established.
Photoshop does have the Filter-Vanishing Point tool, but I am honestly not very familiar with it. I just tried it briefly, but I need to look into it more to see how to use it and how robust it is. In the past I've used 3rd party tools, or just drawn a few simple guide lines myself depending on how complex or involved the perspective will be.
@bleak fossil Cool. I'll re-do this later to see if I can implement your suggestions. It may take me a few tries. Thank you for the time.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@eternal mica No problem! It's fun to be able to talk about perspective and see a challenge around it. Something that's pretty common with illustration but I hear it talked about a bit less with Photoshop compositing and editing.
Sam, Thanks for the feed back! You are very correct, I'll give it some shadows. The best part of these challenges is they make me use tools that are new to me. On to the next one.........
@bleak fossil So true. And learning about it will effect my "perspective" on compositing going forward as well. (no pun intended, or maybe it is LOL). I remember watching a really interesting tutorial by JR on this. Your tips reminded me of it. Its probably time for me to re-watch it.

Here's Challenge 2 perspective
Day 3 - Glow effect. The stars texture I made during the PS VS 2020-2 with help of Brett Malley (how: https://tatianapetkova.myportfolio.com/from-day-to-night)
I’m not sure how well I did the lighting for this - never seen a bright explosion of light before. Should I add more burst of light poking through? I’m also not sure the light is washing over my subject’s limbs well (especially where the feet meets the land).
Much more complicated than I thought ....
My attempt at transforming and perspective. After making the chests, I couldn't help adding a few more things...
Challenge #3 couldn't figure out how to make the size of the spikes longer
Challenge #03: Glow effect. Daenerys is thinking if she is a mother of the nation. I used vivid light, maybe screen blending would be better. I am working on it.
Here is the Challenge of today, underwater glowing effects!
cool illustrative style @agile dagger
@bright rune Nice work! I think the second coffin image looks good with how the contrast of both elements seems to be matching. The background in the third catacombs image seems a bit faded, I think getting some of the dark tones back in there could help. The blocks are looking really good, I'd just adjust the left lines of the top block so they're a bit more parallel with the bottom block. It's subtle in this draw-over, but I put an arrow pointing to the line I think it's most apparent. Looking good!
@stark grove The rainbow-like gradient within the door gives this a really interesting look! Feels a lot like some magical portal which is a great effect. The light rays and particles are a nice touch as well 👍
@lucid plover Glow is looking really solid! I like how the color of the headlights mirror the color of the sunset in the sky. The headlights on the road are really well done too, the shape and fade of them looks very believable. Always great to see what you're creating!
Ps Challenge - Day 2😅 Just a simple box there
Cute little box)
I know the perspective is a bit off...
Seems like I can't use "warp", is there any way to use "warp" without flatten the group?
Hi everyone! Here's my glowing challenge.
Thank you @bleak fossil
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@peak mesa Really nice job matching the lighting and show of this scene to the box! This fits in very naturally. The only minor suggestions I would have is that I think there could be a bit deeper ambient occlusion shadow right where the box meets the floor, and the top lines of the box could be tilted downwards slightly. Here's a rough example. Looks great!
@brisk flower Hah, very nice idea. I like the sense of motion and power the "explosion" has. The texture is a nice addition as well. My only suggestion is I feel like the glow could be a bit brighter, particularly from the origin where it meets the top of the shoe. Even something as simple as hitting it with a bit of color dodge could be a nice boost of brightness. Nice job!
@prisma ridge Nicely done, I like the way you warped the door to match the slant of the moon. The red glow looks good and the bold color does a nice job of standing out from the background. The only minor suggestion I might have is I feel like the red could affect the upper torso of the figure a touch more to feel like they're being a bit more enveloped by it. Nice work!
Thank you! I will fix it😀
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@icy cairn Very nice, the light ray is looking good! I like how there seems to be some speckles of dust which add a nice bit of realism and seem to fit that old looking building nicely. The only minor thing is I feel like the light washes out a bit of the background ever so slightly. Not sure if another blending mode might solve this? Looks good!
@vagrant rapids Very nice, did you create the pink light entirely? I love the color contrast it creates and you did a really nice job of creating the planes of the body the light would be hitting which really sells the effect. Looks great!
@eager vortex The glow is looking really nice! I also like the texture of the dust speckles you added, it adds some nice atmosphere.
@copper moss Very cool! The figure looks really well composited into the scene and fits together nicely. I like how you matched the lighting on her to the glowing door as well. My only minor suggestion would be that perhaps the glow inside the door could be a bit brighter to match the intense light in her front side. Currently the door's glow looks like a subtle, somewhat dim blue light. Nice work!
@bleak fossil Ps DCC 2021-05 03 Glow Effect
@west plume The light rays are looking good! This is a nice image for this challenge. If you created a shape for the light rays I think the best way to make the rays longer would be to make the shape bigger, but if that doesn't work then perhaps painting it in using something like the polygonal lasso tool could help. Nice job!
@vague shuttle Very nice work, I like how far you took this image with all the different items! The perspective is looking good and consistent between them all. I like how you added shadow from the vase, but perhaps a slight, short shadow to the left of the dresser where it touches the wall might push the realism a bit more. Well done!
@eternal mica Hah, great idea with the little ET figure in the doorway! The light rays are looking good and I like the colorful bits of glowing particles in the air. I think it could help to not have the outline around the alien, but instead have it be a solid color, and fade out the back of it a bit as if it's being enveloped in light around the side of it that is furthest into the door. Also perhaps add a bit more of a glow effect from the light rays (a color dodge or screen layer works great for this). I tried to do a quick example, I also added a bit of blur to the alien, mainly around the back end of it. Just some ideas of course, looking good!
(Click the image and then click "Open original" for better quality)
@bleak fossil Great idea. I added the stroke because I couldnt get the ET shape to show strongly enough. I was afraid it was getting lost. Yours looks awesome. I'll definitely play around with your suggestion. (You caught me in the middle of redoing the perspective lines. Its much easier to design the perspective shape using the guide lines you explained to me. I'll finish it up tonight or tomorrow.)
😀
@timid pier I think the glow is looking clean and believable! The way it lights up the edges of the doorframe has a good look to it, and the light rays came out really well. I like the variation in their shape and size, it makes for a really natural look. Nicely done!
@simple mantle I think you handled this really well, the way the light is spilling over the monster is working really well. It seems a bit more textured than light might actually look, but that's more of a stylistic preference. I think the hands and legs are looking quite good. The shadow from the feet/legs is a great touch, it might be worthwhile to try and increase the darkness of the shadow a touch around where the feet meet the ground. Really nice work!
Day 3 glow out of open door, maybe
@bleak fossil Thanks for the tips. This looks much better.

Challenge #3, the shapes were harder for me. Trying to figure out how to access settings and where to find them, but in a simplest form as I could I succeeded. Now I can start to play around with it more. I feel like my doorway light isn't as natural as it could be, but more practice I will do. I am so happy I can have begun to attempt using the tools and understanding how to utilize them better.
@eternal mica that is so creative. Love the creativeness with the ET gold shadow with the fantasy lights like what you would see in an animation for added effects.

I am feeling my creative vibes tonight. Tried some creativity with this challenge now that I am getting used to the workspace and workflow. My spillage in the second one could be more blended.
@eternal mica Very cool idea for this challenge, hah. The texture is working really well with how all the lighting information and shine from the car is still showing. The masking is looking really solid too. The gold has a nice contrast with the background, though I wonder if fading the opacity of the star graphics a bit might give the text a bit more dominance and not overpower it. Nice work!
@dull lava Great idea for this challenge with the spilled liquid! The shadow on the goblet is looking good and the texture on the top design adds a strong sense of material. On the bottom image with the spilled cup is might help to add a little shadow and highlight to the liquid like you did with the cup to get that extra sense of dimension. Maybe something like this? Of course the thinner the liquid is supposed to be the more subtle the shadow on the side would be. This kind of makes it look like paint. Nice work!
(For better quality click the image then click "Open Original")
@bleak fossil Sam, thank you for your comments. I had no intention to make the star graphics so large. I was thinking along the lines of the exercise we had with PT last series with small starbursts. But when I made the shapes, they unintentionally came out quad-colored and looked so cool I couldn't resist. 😊😊😊. I'll make them smaller and lower opacity.

Day 3 Door
@paper shadow Very cool! I like your use of the different textures. The main suggestion I'd give is to use the lines of the corners of the walls/floors to find the vanishing point in an image with 1-point perspective like this. Then it becomes very easy to line up your box's edges and any board textures to match the same vanishing point where all the parallel lines converge. It looks like you set up the box in 2-point perspective, but the scene is 1-point, which means only one set of parallel lines will converge to a vanishing point, the rest will be horizontal or vertical which keeps it simple. Hopefully this makes sense. Nice work!
@thorn geyser Very nicely done, really really put some care into getting the form and shadow to read on this key design and it has a really strong 3D look to it. The handle and teeth of the key also have a nice design and shape balance to them. Looks good!
Well Done! Always cool to see starting images. Your pattern looks great and the light burst adds a nice touch... Your flower looks like a lampshade👍
@lucid plover : your two Day5 images are awesome! Love particularly how you applied pattern on the first one. Impressive job... As always👍

@timid pier Really cool idea for this challenge! That's a nice use for the pattern. The pattern looks great and the application onto the lamp is looking good, I like how you kept the texture in there. My only suggestion is maybe you could give it a bit of glow like the original has for a more realistic look like light is peaking through. I did a quick example with a color dodge layer. Maybe something like this? Nice work!
@dusky swallow Loving the pattern! The layering and color variation is looking really nice. It could be nice to make it completely repeatable to get rid of the vertical seam, but it's looking solid regardless. The mock up is a nice touch too!
@young karma Hah, a very nice floral twist to this mask, looks a bit more welcoming now. It might be nice to try out different blending modes so that the lighting information from the mask still shows through for a more realistic look. I like the placements of the flowers around the mask, nice job!
@bronze bluff Cool idea! Definitely has a neat look to it. I like how you made the glow match the color of the tentacles to tie them together even more. Very nice!
@brisk flower I like the bouquet arrangement! Very nice job cutting out and layering all these. The posterized effect makes for an interesting style too. Nicely done!
@lucid plover Excellent application of the floral pattern to the dress! I didn't even notice that it wasn't the original until I saw the stock image. The pattern looks great, and both the dress and wallpaper are looking really nice on the second design. My only really minor nitpick is for some reason her dark tones (the hair and facial features) look a bit washed out compared to the background flowers. Perhaps giving the girl a bit of a slight levels/curves adjustment to boost the dark tones on the second design might help? Great work!
Thank you @bleak fossil

@thorn geyser Loving the Day 3 glowing door design too! The way you added a red and yellow glow to the doorway to reflect the background image really helps tie them together and give it a sort of magical look. Great idea!
@west plume Very impressive sense of perspective and form on these sunglasses! The hard edged, dark shadows really help sell the sense of dimension. The texture and scene in the lenses add a lot of interest as well. Nicely done!

@young karma Cool take on this challenge! The masking of the door fades nicely into the background galaxy scene. The image has a nice visual balance to it too. Looks good!
@simple mantle Nicely done! Very cool combination of photo and illustrated elements in this design. 👍
@hollow silo The perspective is looking spot on with the Day 2 challenge! The lighting and texture fits the scene really well too which helps everything fit together. Well done!
@rigid wolf Really cool style to this one! Kind of a graphic feel to it. I like the texture you used and the shadow behind the goblet helps separate it from the background nicely. Drawing with a mouse can definitely be difficult, a tablet makes life a lot easier. Though lowering the opacity and using smoothing can make the mouse a lot easier to handle in most situations for me. Nice work!
@blazing orbit Very cool combination of textures and colors in the Day 4 design! The blue/green coloration along with the gold makes for a really interesting look. I like the shapes too! Glad to see you creating your own thing for this design, it turned out well.
@nova lagoon This turned out really nicely! I really like the effect you got with the texture and sheen/highlight. It makes it look like there's a really textured/painted goblet with a clear coating on it that creates that smooth sheen on top of the textured surface. Looks good!
@ashen elbow Very nice, the glow came out great! I really like the subtle light rays and the sparkles/glowing bits add some great atmosphere. 👍

@dusky wave Looking good! Very cool design on the wall, I really like that interior filigree looking pattern. Perhaps lowering the opacity just a touch so it's not total black might give it a more realistic contrast within this scene? It could also be nice to give the couch a bit of a shadow to really set it in the scene. Here's a reference image of the shadow cast by a similar couch. Nice work!
@brisk flower Very nicely done! The perspective of the pattern on the different surfaces of the couch seems to match very well and the blending mode you used works great to maintain all the lighting information from the couch. This turned out great. Also worth mentioning that Adobe Stock has a free section at https://stock.adobe.com/free

@young karma Nice job! The couch's pattern has a nice realistic look with how it conforms to the different surfaces of the cushions. Looks good 👍
@simple mantle The floral pattern looks great! I really like the colors and size of the pattern on this couch. Did you use a blend mode to keep some of the lighting with the couch and adjust it from there, or are they all painted in? My only real critique is that the couch could be moved down a few notches, since perspective wise I think the back of the couch would be higher than the line where the wall meets the floor which makes it appear a bit off. I think a slightly deeper shadow where the couch meets the floor like we see under the radiator could add some more depth too. Just some ideas of course. Really nice work!
@vague shuttle This looks great! The strong contrast and highlights really sell that metallic/gold effect. The dripping effect is really cool too. I think the strongest dripping effect in the bottom left one from the pinky due to the hard edges and strong shadows. I think hardening the edges of the top drip, and drip on the far right could help sell the realism even more. Well done!
WOO!

Day 6 placing patterns
The pattern came out inspired on the Challenge we did the animal illustration on photoshop with you, a couple of months ago I believe.... thank you @jolly quest

PS DCC #3 Glow Effect. HE SO COOOTE!!
i bumped the couch down a bit, adjusted the shadow, and added a framed pic😊
Thanks for thumbs up @glacial cairn. I was feeling fairly...meh when I made (it’s definitely one of my least favorite designs I’ve done though that’s not the reason I wasn’t feeling that great). But I’m glad someone enjoyed looking at it. Lol

@vague shuttle Oh, that looks cool too! But I mean more like this in terms of hard edges, of course it’s really just up to your personal preference. Just an idea.
@young karma Hah, super cool idea and character! I love the bit of lighting and form you gave him where the arm overlaps the body. I could totally picture this character being animated peaking and walking through the door. The light rays and glowing effect came out very well too. Great work!
@fluid wharf Really nice job with the different patterns in the day 6 design! The flowers came out really well and the pattern on the couch has a convincing look. The only thing I notice on the couch pattern is that the edges of the pattern seem to be cropped off in an odd way. Nice work with these!
The other challenges are looking great too! I especially like how well the Day 1 design came out. The strong contrast and texture really gives it a solid metal look.
@timid pier Really cool to see how you put all these elements together! The pattern turned out great and I really like the accent colors on the cushions and pillow. My only suggestion might be to boost the overall brightness of the patterned part of the couch a touch, but tone down the saturation of the cushions and pillow just a bit. I think this might make all the elements of the couch fit together a little more. Great work!
@dusky swallow Really great use of color and texture! The jellyfish contrast nicely against the blue/green background. Great illustrated look to this. The application of the couch pattern game out really nice as well 👍
@tacit condor Hah, great idea with the Day 3 glow effect design! The light bleed being the lego man really helps sell the effect of the glowing door. The patterns came out really nicely too! I like the contrast between the couch and wallpaper patterns. The application onto the couch looks great too, really natural looking. Well done!
@hollow silo The wallpaper pattern came out so well! I love how it works within the specific mock up too, it mirrors some of the red tones from the furniture, but also acts as a nice visual balance to the subtle colors and minimal look of the room. Looks great!
@hollow silo I saw your Day 4 challenge this morning on stream, very solid work! The form you got in the goblet, especially around the handles and the grape pattern you added is very impressive. Really solid sense of 3D form and the texture really helps push that metal feel. Nicely done!
@outer gulch The pattern applied to the vase is a really cool idea. I like how the colors are a bit more subtle to not overpower the actual flowers. There's a bit of a soft grey airbrushed looking area around the top of the left vase, not sure if that was intentional or not but figured I'd mention it. Very nice work!
@copper moss Really clever idea for this challenge! It creates a great sort of whimsical painted look to this landscape. I really like the soft colors and textures. Very cool!
@tropic garnet Cool take on this challenge! Nice job on matching the direction of the lighting in the scene, this came out well. Has a nice solid sense of form 👍
Thanks @bleak fossil. I did think the lighting turned out really well. I kind of think it looked even better without the texture, but refrained from posting it since the challenge was based on using textures.
I modeled the lamp after an actual lamp in my room and I did three different versions (the first two were really bad mostly because I choose poor background images). Interestingly enough, I used the divide blending mode and the reversed response of the dark and light colors for the lighting turned out to be fantastic.

@jagged granite Loving the monochromatic look of the pattern, it came out well! I like the illustrated look you created with the texture applied to the shoes, it has a great look to it. I could see this being used in an ad with hand draw text elements. Really neat!
@dull lava Definitely, lots of uses for this technique. This pattern is looking good! I really like the soft contrast in the flowers, and the subtle color variation throughout the design. My only critique is that it could be nice to cover up the hard horizontal edge towards the top right of the pattern to make the whole thing seamless. Nice job!
