This Colorize Filter is adictive. Lots more work to do on this but I must sleep! Goodnight All!😴
@wary swan only issue I ran into was that when I opened one of the b&w photos it was in greyscale and I had to change the mode to RGB.
@bleak fossil Thank you for the feedback!!!

Day #7 Colorize a photo - This is what I have so far
Another this is what I have so far ...
Challenge 7 - Colorize a photo
Original photo from Library of Congress site https://www.loc.gov/
Challenge 7 - Colorize a photo This was a complex photo for the Neural filter to colorize it was limited, most of the colorize is made in normal way like the overalls have I hand paint. I change the bits to 32 before neural filter and before export back to 8 bit.
Challenge 7 - Colorize a photo 2 also a photo from Library of Congress
Challenge 7 - Colorize a photo change the image to RGB and 16 bit before I used Neural filter colorize, work great with this image, had very little after edit to do, only used photo filter on the image
day 7
@wary swan : Great idea to use Library of Congress. Impressive work on your first (timbers) and the second looks fine too. Nice job!
Thanks @hollow yarrow for the feedback

@compact pecan they are amazing indeed, they have been up for a couple years, and the ability to search by date, place, subject.
Colorize a Photo (Day # 07)
I tried another photo from Easter 1959 of me and my sisters but Ps did not recognize anything except the larges white goose and made it yellow. Go figure. So here is the image Jesus presented.,
Here's my challenge 7 colorize photo
Me a little younger.....🤣....any suggestions to make it even better?

Jesús Ramirez, thank You for challenge #6; my whole project https://www.behance.net/gallery/107817795/Photoshop-Daily-Creative-Challenge-Nov-2020
I did a very subtle colour grading on one of my photos I took on vacation a couple of years ago
This is from Easter Sunday, 1959 of two of my sisters and me. The before is to the left. The original was taken with a 120 film size Kodak Brownie camera (I'm pretty sure.) BTW, the neural filters did not work at all on this one. Probably has to do with the lack of edge contrast.
@wet thistle : your colorized image is really great! As you asked for suggestions: It seems that the white of the teeth is slightly bluish (or it's my eyes/screen). You might maybe fix that ( hue/saturation ajustment layer). There's also little spots of grey in the neck area (near the collar of your shirt)... But honnestly I nitpick 'cause you did an amazing job!👍
@elfin thorn : Your color gradient grading looks very cool. I love warm feeling and vignetting add a great focal point. Nice job!
@whole flame : great color enhancement... Love the vignetting effect too. I really would like to be there! Nicely done!
Had a lot of fun with the colour grading. Really glad Adobe got rid of spit colours as I often found it confusing
@sonic saddle I like it! It's subtle, but it adds an interesting sort of mood to the image and gives it some great warm/cool contrast 👍
@fluid wharf Excellent job with the colorization design! All the colors are looking really natural and her skin tone makes for a nice contrast against the more yellow background. Looks good!
@winter tinsel Great colors in this design! I really like how much you pushed the cooler blue tones to get that cold snowy feeling, and the warmer building in the background contrasts the birds nicely. I really like the pop of red in the background, though I wonder if repeating that in the arches to the left might balance it out a bit since currently the color contrast is so heavy on the right side. Great job!
@eternal mica Nice job with all the different areas of color in this, Ted! I like the new background you added, it seems to fit the image nicely. My only suggestion for this design would be that I think you could desaturate the blue of the eyes a bit, it looks a bit unnaturally vibrant, unless of course that's the sort of effect you were going for. Nice work!
@dreamy arch Awesome, welcome in, glad you're joining us! This is looking great, I love the clean graphic lines of everything, and the simple blue-yellow-white color scheme is looking great. I'm really liking the font style in this too. Nicely done!
Thank you @hollow yarrow I want to improve so suggestions are welcome 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hollow yarrow
@bold valley Very cool Ralph! This is a great image for this challenge for sure, hah. Nice job with all the different elements in this scene. I feel like the reds, blues, and greens in the image could be desaturated a bit, and maybe the skin tones could be saturated a hair more to balance everything together, but if this was intentional then disregard my suggestion. Good job!

Day 7 - Colourize a Photo
my JeEp beofre and after. gradient filters
oops in a hurry so it's sideways 😦
I should have changed the background too rather then blur. but ran outta time
I'm trying to do the Colorize A Photo challenge but most of my selected B/W photos aren't getting processed (only 1 out of 8 worked). Any ideas why?
@bleak fossil Thanks Sam. I did everything on layers so I can adjust. I liked the extreme for discord.

Sorry about the above. I cant get it to load with the color gradients. To see the image you must click on thumbnail and then open the original.
This is the original image
@elfin thorn Really nice job coloring all these different elements! The sky replacement is an excellent touch and the landscape is looking nice and natural. I feel like the blue shirt could be desaturated a touch as it looks a bit unnaturally blue, and I think the skin tone of the girl in the middle could be shifted more towards the red range and away from the yellow range, as she's looking a bit yellow/green at the moment. Though I think the other skin tones are looking on point. Looking good!
@pliant geyser Nicely done! Good work colorizing all the different pieces of clothing and details in this one. This is more of a nitpick, but it kind of looks like the skin tone color is also on the eyes and lips. It might add a touch more realism to adjust the coloration ever so slightly in those areas. Maybe less saturation in the eyes, and slightly more red in the lips? Well done!
Colorize Photo
@safe linden The colorized farm worker photo came out great! All the colors have a great realistic look to them. I feel like you really nailed the level of saturation on this image. The blue of the clothing creates a nice contrast in the image as well. Looks great!
@ruby panther Very nice, Shawn! These colors are looking good and I especially like the coloration you got on the luggage. Everything has a very nice, natural look to it. If I had to make any suggestions it might be to unify the color of the space to the left of the tracks. The gravel color looks good, but the green seems a bit off. I also think it might look good to give her a little more saturation in the eye region under her eyebrow where it looks a touch too gray. Well done!
@covert loom Very nice job with matching the color and lighting of the portrait to the background image. The really warm color matches the sunset nicely. The masking around the hair and fur coat is looking really solid too 👍
@sweet fern Ah that's a bummer. I'd be really interested in seeing how it interprets various photos. This is looking good! Everything seems to have a really nice, natural coloration to it. The only thing that stands out to me is the face of the girl on the right hand side looks a bit gray. I think adding some saturation to her would help. Maybe a touch more blue in the sky to the left too? Nice work!
@olive karma Very nice! I get an almost pop-art vibe from this image. I don't know if it was an intentional stylization, but the skin has a bit of a green tint to it. I think if you tweaked it towards the orange/red range it might look a bit more natural. The red lipstick is a nice accent color in this image, good job!
@mortal crescent Very nice, all the colors in this image are looking really solid.!It all has a nice realistic look to it, especially with the skin tones. 👍
@wet lark Nice job James! The colors are looking really good here. The only thing I think could use a bit of touching up would be the leg and face of the girl on the right that appear a bit gray. Matching those areas with the color of her leg on the right side should give it all a more natural look. Looking good!
Thank you😉 I appreciate the CC
@wet thistle Such a cool idea for a picture to colorize! This looks great, the saturation in the skin and red tones really give it a much more modern look. Great job separating the color for the different areas of the face such as the eyes, teeth, gums, etc. My only minor suggestion might be to give the color of the gums a bit more of a saturated tint to the color for a more realistic/healthy look. Nicely done, this looks great!
@young karma Great you see you using your own photo for this challenge! Really nice stylized effect to the portrait. The font style adds a lot of interest and does a nice job of mirroring the black and yellow from the t-shirt which ties them together nicely. I almost feel like the face could use a bit more contrast to make it a bit punchier of a focal point. Maybe a levels/curves adjustment layer with the brights (and maybe even darks) boosted a bit and use a soft brush to mask it so it's only affecting the face area? Looks good!
@prisma ridge Hah, great idea to combine this challenge with the sky replacement. I love how quickly it turns this into a creepy image with a Children of the Corn type of vibe. The colors are all looking great, though I wonder if the green shirt is almost a little too vibrant? Well done!
thank you Sam for feedback
Daily Challenge 201119 - new color gradients
Sorry about the above. I cant get it to load with the color gradients. To see the image you must click on thumbnail and then open the original.
@eternal mica -- Perhaps the image color profile has too many colors for Discord to handle, especially if it is Pro Photo RGB.
@young karma I have no idea why that would be so. Its a normal photo and I have used dozens of my photos before with no problem. I will try to find what you are suggesting to see if that is a problem.
Redid my colorize a photo. I wasn't happy with the first one...remembered to fix the background in this one.
@eternal mica : Wow!!! 6000x4000px! Are you always uploading files with this resolution? Maybe the reason why the preview is not loaded correctly. Sometimes downscaling algorithms can give some strange results! Maybe you should reduce the size (1/2) before uploading and see if it works better. By the way your original version is great!
@hollow yarrow @eternal mica The all knowing Tim solved this for me. I'll post the explanation in the #❓ask-a-question section
@hollow yarrow I don't usually think about it. If I use my own pictures, most of my images are that quality. If I get a message "file too large" , I do shrink the file down. In a weird way, I tried saving the file as a png, Ps created an 80MB file!!! I just deleted it. I'll look at the file size to see if that helps. And it's easy to take great pictures when it's my beautiful granddaughter!!!
I didn't mean to create such a hullabaloo.
Hah, it's all good. Good for me to learn these things when I run into issues I'm unfamiliar with.
@dusky swallow Really nice work with the colorization image! The skin tones are looking really natural and the blue background gives her some nice contrast. Well done!
@vague harbor Very nice! All these colors have a nice harmony together as well as a natural convincing look to them. Really nice job handling all the different elements and details in this image!
@deep mango Very cool! Nice job with the colorization of all the different elements and details in this image. Everything is looking really good, though I feel like perhaps the green of the shirt could be ever so slightly less saturated? Though that's really up to personal preference. Looks good!
Change Background challenge
@lucid canyon The color adjustments are looking good! I like how you enhanced both the warm and cool tones to really push that contrast. It adds some nice interest and gives it more of a cinematic look. Nice work!
@safe ledge Very nice! I like the bold color contrast with the red in this image. The blur definitely creates some nice focus contrast, though it could be nice to see the background with something like an iris blur to keep the foreground near the front tires in focus but fade into a blur as it goes back in space. Though it really just depends what you're going for. Nice job!
@lucid turret Looking good! The adjustment creates some really nice warm/cool contrast in the image and adds some nice interest. 👍
@compact pecan I like the added blue in the sky! It makes for some nice contrast against the rest of the image. Though I wonder if her shirt staying a bit warmer like in the original image might give her some nice contrast against the background. Hard to say for sure without seeing it, just a thought. Nicely done!

@young karma I have no idea why that would be so. Its a normal photo and I have used dozens of my photos before with no problem. I will try to find what you are suggesting to see if that is a problem.
@eternal mica -- Hope you find the problem, good luck.
@young karma I believe @glacial path figured it out. He believes youre suggestion of Pro Photo RGB is the answer. I will check later today when I have time. Thank you so much for your assistance and concern.

hm?
oh! yeah. if the colors are different, it is most likely because of a different color profile.
make sure to use sRGB instead. This will ensure optimal color accuracy across most platforms

@stark palm Thank you so much for your feedback about switching greyscale to RGB to get b&w photos to work with Neural Filter Colorize!!! Like @wary swan, I had a lot of issues. I spent over 4 hours trying to get it to work with dozens of photos from various sources and only 2 kinda worked. That trick makes them all work great! 😀

@arctic rover Really nice work with the color grading in this image! I like the addition of the lightning. For a night scene I feel like it might look good to replace the sky with an actual night sky to avoid the light daytime looking clouds. I think Darkening down the whole image a bit more, and putting in a sky that is a gradient that is dark towards the top but lighter towards the horizon to pop the castle out might look good. And really pushing the brightness of the lightning against the dark sky. I feel like it's kind of hard to explain so I roughed up a quick example. Maybe something like this? Great job!
(For best quality click the image then click "Open Original")
@young karma Nice work! I really like the warm/cool color contrast in this image. It really makes the warm tones of her face pop. Though it might be worth toning the gradient down a touch around the front top of the motorcycle to make them appear if they're in the same lighting. Possibly mask it off in that area slightly with a soft round brush. Though it really just depends what you're going for. Really nice strong focal point in this image 👍
@north path What a great photo, really nice quality on this one. Excellent job with the colorization! Everything has a nice rich saturation to it without looking unnatural, and the skin tone is looking on point. Great job with all the details and differently colored objects. Everything is looking nice and clean. Impressive work!
@onyx field Really cool effect here! I like the high key and sort of monochromatic look of this design, it works really well with the effect of how you made it fade into the background. Almost makes me think of a memory scene in a movie or something, hah. Very cool!
@wary swan Very nice, I like what it did to the sky here! The colors are looking good. I feel like perhaps it could use a bit of a boost to the contrast, particularly the dark tones, to give it a bit stronger of a read. Nice job!
@compact pecan These are looking good! I particularly like how the preset is looking with the portrait image, the colors add a lot of interest. Once you find and dial in some presets you really like they can definitely save a lot of time. Nicely done!
@whole flame I love it, this adds so much mood to this image, completely transforms the look and feel of the whole thing. It adds a really cinematic sort of feel as well. Well done!
@safe linden Very nice, there's a clear and noticeable difference in each one of these images. It really gives the colors some nice pop and good contrast to the overall image. I especially like how much it affects the first image. Nice work!
@lucid plover The preset is looking good! Definitely has a certain mood to it with the cooler colors. It also creates some nice temperature contrast with the warmer tones of each image. Nice job!
@dusky wave Looking good! There's some nice contrast overall in this image, both with color and value. Nicely done 👍
@dusky swallow Nice job, I definitely get a bit of a sense of a warmer tone towards the right side. I feel like the image could use a bit of a levels adjustment to boost the overall contrast, and maybe even a subtle saturation boost. Of course it just depends what you're going for and what the original image looked like. Well done!
@livid tiger Great change to this image. Really enhances the colors and makes the whole thing pop without being too dramatic as to look unnatural. Gives it a bit more of a cinematic look like you might see in a tv show too. The blue of the ocean really pops too. Nice job!
@left abyss Very nice! I really like the color changes. I think it's most noticeable in the sky, but even the subtle shift in the dogs is a nice look. I think it looks slightly stylized in the sunset because it's more pink/purple, whereas sunsets are usually closer to the red/orange range (though sometimes you'll see those pink/purples in the clouds) but I still think it's a really neat look. Well done!
@deep mango Very nice! I like that you included the original to really see how different the effect makes it. There's a nice clear gradient between the warm and cool tones which works really well. Nice work!
@arctic rover Nicely done! Landscapes seem like they could potentially be really tricky for colorizing. This is looking good. Though I feel like perhaps a levels or curves adjustment could balance out the contrast a bit where it's a bit blown out? Looks good!
@vague harbor Hah, nice job! Yeah, I think he's a bit overdressed. Really nice job on the masking with this image. I feel like maybe he could be brightened up a touch to fit in with the lighting of the scene a bit more? I like how you composed this image too 👍
Woah what a trip trying to find Lightroom files - got taken to places never been before (inset bottom right ). I concentrated on the blissed-out-dude's denim shirt ( even tried to correct the purple blob on sleeve aaargh ) then had to correct tree branch colour. When applied the preset to the plaque ( top left ) disappointed in the look it gave to the bricks. Thanks heaps @lethal mural have understood Ps and Lr a lot more with this challenge will keep going Thank You and hi to your cat 🐅 ( would dig a CC session on finding lightroom files !!!!!!!! )

@covert loom Very cool, almost a slightly electronic look to this pattern. I like the variations in the lines. Could be really interesting to see other color/saturation variations for this design. Nice work!
@shy bobcat Great job with these designs! I especially love how much you were able to sharpen them up to add some great focus. The color grading adds a really interesting look and feel to it too, nicely done!
@ruby panther This looks great, Shawn! I really like the really strong and clear contrast the B&W gives it. I like all the clean graphic shapes in this Photo 👍
@sterile dagger This concert photo is looking really nice. I like the color temperature contrast of the warmer skin tones and red guitar against the cooler blues of the image. The warm tones on the girl on the motorcycle add a great feel to that image too. Nice work!
@bleak fossil thanks! 🙂
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@onyx field Nice job! There's definitely a clear color temperature separation between the cool tones of the figure and the warmer green tones of the background. It's always great to see how much color grading can change an image. Looks good!
Challenge #2 - Seamless Pattern
Love what you did @bleak fossil ! Very cool. It's funny - I used Sky Replacement (duh), but it missed some parts behind the open windows. I fiddled around to darken them & then thought about the weird storm skies you can get in the middle of the day - where the sun is still bright but a massive cloud rolls in while the sun is still shining on the other side of the street. But I hear what you are saying and agree it could use some 'level'-ing. (That ruin is on Roosevelt Island in NYC - it was a smallpox hospital. It has next level creepiness w/out any filters!).
@bleak fossil Thank you for your feedback, I will continue experimenting with making more presets but there are so many variables to take on board.

Here is my challenge 9. I replaced the sky for the first photo to fit in with my idea of a warm sunset and created a preset, which I then used on the next two photos

@glacial minnow : great project! Special mention for your fireworks animation. I liked it!👍
@glacial minnow Great sky replacement in the Day 9 design! It adds a lot of interest compared to the original sky which was quite bland. The warming color grading you added to the image really helps it match with the sky. Nice work!
@glacial minnow Woo, congrats! Great collection of images here, very nice to see all the techniques and designs together. I especially like your sky replacement challenge with the fireworks reflecting in the water. 👍
@fluid wharf Great job with the Day 9 challenge! The image of the guy under the tree came out really well, the added brightness really helps the whole image read more clearly. The sky replacement is looking good too! Though I think it might help to darken the landscape a bit, usually the hills in a sunrise/sunset situation would be a bit darker. It could be nice to use a real image of a sky too rather than just a gradient for a more realistic look. Looking good!
@dusky swallow I like the vibrant colors in these images! The bold blue of the sky in the first image, and the bold red in the other two are nice and eye catching. It would also be interesting to see the originals alongside these. Nice work!
@mortal crescent Great work with all these designs! I really like what you did with the sky replacement image. It's a really nice choice for this photo and you matched them very well with the color grading. I also really like the cropping on the image of the guy with the backpack in the forest, the color grading looks great on that one too. Really nice job making those images feel like they belong together. 👍
@eternal mica Great job with all these challenges, Ted! Always happy to see you joining us for these. Really cool to see you put them all together in a video reel format in addition to the images in the project. And no problem, happy to try and help any time! Hope you have a good week too!

@magic wagon A few small nit picks I noticed in your designs. In the White House images, the Trump's feet are cut off in the grass. In the mock up of the jersey, the area inside the neck continues the image from the front of the shirt. That doesnt look realistic. And on your album cover the banana on the left which is flipped vertically has the Ps backwards. Its a bit disorienting.
A question how do I link my project to Creative Challenge on Behance?
@wary swan Just copy the link of your behance project and paste it in your message on Discord. It should work!
very nice eyes. will change it! thanks mate

My first art
@covert loom : you should upload lower size file. 8641x11522 is too large for Discord preview. We need go to "open original" to view your image.
Great colors and shadind looks ok. I don't know if it's your choice but your outline loooks very harshed... You should maybe try to use pentool or curvature pentool with a large black stroke to make curves more soft... Just an idea. Nice start!
I just started and I have no idea, I know I can do something with you. I need your help. Thank you.
Thanks

@wary swan Nice portfolio. One suggestion, separate the different group of challenges into different Behance portfolios. I dont believe there is a limit on how many you can post. Most of the leaders have a theme to their challenge series. That theme will come through more clearly if your works are organized to show that theme. Just one man's opinion.
@spare badge Beautiful portfolio. The simplicity and coherence of the design is wonderful. It really fits the nature of the works within the portfolio. The two mockups (pattern and album cover) were especially good.

Finally got around to working on the logo challenge 😃
Here is my banana crew logo🤔
and the background change
These are original photos I used
@sonic saddle : Great work. Your background replacement looks really great. I love how perspectives of two pictures match together! Well done!
@stark palm : Nice logo. Layering different shapes under the banana is a great idea! It adds depth to your logo... Layer effects on "PS" and you banana too! Great job!

whats the current challenge? am new here
Hi. I am here for the current challenge. I use Lightroom, but am new to photoshop and looking to learn.
Sky replacement with a gradient and added dual shadows.
Change Background challenge. Finally catching up
Album Cover 🙂
Loved the textures in this one, @simple idol! The words and the rectangle give that cool neon look that makes it stand out. Great idea adding some overlaps to the rectangle's stroke. If you want to make the vinyl to stand out from the background, you might consider changing the black background to a dark gray value. Awesome attention to the details.
Thank you @coral stone! Will do!

DCC18 Behance cover image (for now)
@eternal mica Excited for a new set of DCCs, woo! Loving the texture on this cover, the text warp is looking really nice too. Perhaps giving the text color a slightly warmer hue (more shifted towards the yellow/green range) might give it a bit more pop? Nice job 👍
@lean prawn Hah, very nice, the cartoony style of the character stands out nicely against the more textured background. Nice job laying all these elements, though it might look good to add a bit of a drop shadow with the layer effects, or paint in a bit of a shadow with a multiply layer and soft brush.
@simple idol Nice design Biola, I like the addition of the mockup too! The cast shadow adds a nice bit of depth. I think you could lighten the background even more to separate the value of the background from the blue of the album cover even more and give it all a bit more pop. Just up to your personal preference of course. (Love the banana crew logo btw, hah) Nice work!
@mighty linden That looks great! Really nice job getting a clean mask around all the tree branches and bushes. The mask looks great, and the color grading to the landscape makes it fit in nicely with the lighting of the sky. Nicely done!
@bleak fossil Me too Sam. Last week with no DCC was tough. I missed everyone!!! The text is actually transparent because of the BM. I'll play with the stroke color.
@sonic saddle These are great! A great collection of challenges, and some of these I missed. Excellent work on the Day 5 and Day 6 challenges, really nice job with the compositing and color/lighting. One small suggestion on the Day 7 challenge might be to get a little more saturation in the fingertips and ear. Sometimes we see a bit more saturation and even slight tints of red in those areas which often helps the skin look more alive. Great work on all these!
@eternal mica Hah, definitely. I feel like it threw my whole schedule off a bit not having the DCC stream in the morning.
@coral stone : happy to see you back here and active. Hope you're doing well!

@bleak fossil I like this avatar much better. Thank you. As always, I appreciate your time and advice. I have no idea where Paul is going to take us with the DCC, so I cant say I'll keep it. But for today, it works!!!

@plain sable Very cool! I like that sort of gold leaf texture of this design's background. It gives the text and designs a nice bold graphic look too 👍
@simple idol Ooh, very nice, that gives it a completely different feel. I like the contrast the yellow adds. The background gradient makes the whole thing feel a bit more energetic and alive in my option. Looks good!
@stark palm Love it! The way you layered these shapes creates such a nice depth to this logo. Everything fits together extremely well stylistically with the way you gave each element a uniform stroke. Looks great!
Thanks @bleak fossil
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @bleak fossil
@young karma Really great work on all these challenges! I especially love the direction you went with the Day 3 challenge! Really cool take on that design, I really like the way the effect is radiating from the house to make it really stand out. Solid work!

@shadow glade Very nice, I think the recreation is a nice improvement. I like the sharp clean lines and readability of it. The kerning looks a bit off on the original. I also really like the logo for the new one, there's a nice balance to it. 👍
@eternal mica : Great improvement! Always a good idea to follow Sam's suggestions!😉

Cover
Cover Page
@young karma : You made a really nice cover but I have just one suggestion: keep in mind your cover will be diplayed at 808 x 632pixels. You can crop your design to make it fit in this ratio but I'm not sure that your wide landscape image can give a good result. Hope your original background can fit in a 808x632 image because it looks very cool. If you want you can read Behance help page about cover : https://help.behance.net/hc/en-us/articles/360033998134-Guide-Cover-Images#:~:text=We've standardized the size, that is at least 808x632px.
Yes, I was thinking about the same, i will crop it to an appropriate size....
@glacial minnow : Nice cover! The grungy textures fit well and the font chosen gives a nice hand drawn feeling. Love the contrasting colors of the two leaves too! Well done!
Wow! @shy bobcat what a great cover! I particularly like the background image: subtle gradient gives a great touch to your branches and water reflections (if I guess well?). Nicely done!
@hollow yarrow Thank you for your kind words. They are reflections so good guessing
Gave +1 Creative Carma to @hollow yarrow
Tried a few different versions of my cover. Not quite feeling it yet with this one.
@young karma I like your color palette. Nice design. Glad to see you posting. Sam, Valdair and Franck will give you critiques at more informed level than I will. Besides the point @hollow yarrow made about the size of Behance cover image, I think the assortment of texts lack a cohesiveness. With so little text, I would not use 3 fonts. Also, the Ps logo looks too prominent, out of place. It looks like it was just dropped in. Perhaps align it with the Photoshop text .
Ver 2. Better I think!
I didn't think day 1 of the challenge had been announced yet, am I missing something, sorry I'm a complete noob
@zinc kestrel We are just making covers for our Behance project. The Challenge 1 will be announced shortly.

@zinc kestrel Dont feel intimidated. Those of us who have been here for a while anticipate what we will be doing and get a start on the Behance portfolios we will be creating over the next 9 days. This is a step you can easily catch up with anytime during the challenge. In fact, many of us who have already created cover images will probably end up making new ones anyway, once we see what Paul has in store for us.

yeah perhaps you have
When I look at a statue, I always imagine that there was a real person who inspired an artist's creation. In this photoshop daily creative challenge, I fixed the sculpture's nose, give a little bit of warmth and a little bit of cleanness to her face. It may not look like a cool and emotionless sculpture, but it may express how an artist felt when he/she started to work on the piece. In his or her eyes, it's not an object, it's a lifely soul! 😄
I thought it could be fun to use a Neural Filter on a statue. Here's the outcome 😅

Day 1: Polish Your Portrait. I decided to use neural filters at the end of my editing, and thinning Paul's hair ended up leaving some ghosting. Instead of spending a bunch of time fixing it or re-doing the image, I thought I'd leave it as-is so others can see how well (or not so well) neural filters work with backgrounds that are easily messed-up.
Day 1: this is a really quick edit to show everyone what Paul looked like in his high school/grunge music days.
Grandpa Paul hanging on the wall
@compact pecan : Hey I don't know what Paul did against you but you look to be on his case! 😆 All 3 are good but my preference is for the first one even if you forgot to cut out Paul's face before neural filter and worked destructively... Offense description is so fun and fits perfectly with Your mistake. Well done!!!
edited this statue using the auto filter in Lr, then used camera raw filters to make minor adjustments, i removed some dirty spots with the spot-healing tool. At last i used a solid colour adjustment layer then added a triangle with some simple colour combination

PSDCC Day 1 with Paul Trani - Polish a portrait
My cats always look perfect so I couldn't use a photo of them.
Challenge Day 1
My cover for this month's challenge.
Challenge #1 I tried to challenge myself with this retouch. My original photo is by Ike Louie Natividad on Pexels. I tried to clear up and smooth her skin but keep her freckles. I also added some warmth to the image.
The photo was from the last day before my oldest son moved a half a country away for a great job opportunity in Seattle. He had two red-eye flights and we got him all packed up and all his belongings passed to the hands of movers in a week's time. He was exhausted. I used some of the techniques in today's challenge to wipe away the wear and tear that week put on his face and I got the orange straw out of the way with content aware fill and a little touchup. He is also the inspiration of today's Illustrator challenge as well. We needed an image for the family Doscord he set up for all of us this week. I am making little characters for all of us and plan to do a little animation and will give Adobe Character Animator a go with them.
Polish Photo challenge
@stoic junco Awesome, welcome in! Glad you're joining us. I like the color grading and background graphic in this one. The eyes stand out quite well, though I kind of feel like the rest of the face could use a little bit more contrast. Maybe with a masked levels adjustment? Either way, really nice job!
@wooden bloom I really like the background graphics! The bright gradient contrasts the portraits nicely too. By whiten teeth, do you mean brighten? To whiten the teeth of a colored portrait, you could do something like use a masked color layer, hue/saturation layer, etc. To brighten the teeth of a greyscale image you could use a masked levels adjustment layer, color dodge layer, or use the dodge tool (though the dodge tool is destructive). Nice work!
@simple mason I like how well the white circle in the background frames and highlights the portrait in this! The color grading gives the whole thing a nice cohesive look too. Well done!
@north ruin Really cool split effect on this portrait image! It adds some really nice warm cool contrast to the portrait which makes the whole thing pop very nicely. Looks good!
@pliant comet Very cool! Always great to see people apply things they're working on to their challenges. I think illustrated elements along with photo composites and graphic design can often be a really cool combination. Nice work!
@queen aspen Cool styles and effects on these images! I like how you played around with some different looks and effects. I especially like the colors on the first one. Though I wonder if putting a subtle masked levels adjustment layer on his face to boost up the brightness just a touch might give his face a bit more focus. Nicely done!
@compact pecan Hah, very nice work. The mugshot image definitely looks creepy with those teeth. As for the masking, it definitely helps to isolate the portrait layer from the background and keep them separate throughout editing, but live and learn, I've done that too, hah. Nice combination of effects with these images!
@devout totem Very cool, really interesting to see a colorized statue. The background looks really nice too, I like how you added a shadow and gradient, almost gives it a sort of glass effect. Nicely done!
@maiden gulch Really cool idea for this design! The illustration looks great and the photo cropping and details are looking really nice as well. Looks good!
@winter tinsel I like it! This photo is a great retouching challenge and came out nicely. The warming tint you added is a nice touch to give the image a nice feel too. Nice work!
@stark palm Ooh, very nice, great job collaging all these elements together! The stylistic look/filter you applied to everything makes them fit together nicely. Looks good!
day 1, Polish your Photo
@bleak fossil Thanks Sam!

@spare badge Ooh, great style to this! I really like the background graphics and the coloration on the portrait fits that well. Nice work with the masking!
@chilly hawk Nice job with the masking, and the background graphic is looking really nice! Sometimes to manually get rid of the green screen color bleed around the edges I like to clip a color layer to it and just use a soft brush to paint over the edges with a color picked from the portrait. I like how you added the second smaller portrait with cooler tones to give them a nice separation. Nice job!
Challenge1

skin smoothened with healing brush and content aware, then used added a custom bg
ended up green in lightroom this is after pshop
Challenge #1 - After polishing my photo and adding blue tint, I had fun with the background using Gaussian Blur and the Smudge tool. Then, I added an ellipse, gradient fill, pattern fill, and blending modes.
Hi everyone🌼#myday1

Polished Portrait in Green
@north ruin : Nice! I like how you polished your portrait. It gives a "cartoon" effect and the contrasting colors in background make it pop! Nicely done!
@spare badge : Wow! Your image gives off a lot of sweetness... Your bakground image is really cool. Just an idea: the face is really soft, maybe a bit more contrast could help (just a nitpick idea). Really Great job!
@winter tinsel : Great clean up! looks very natural and you did a great job on skin tone adjustment. Really great job!
@stark palm : Wow! Is it the cover of your next "Psychedelic Rock" album?... More seriously: I like how your design turns out. Different elements fit well together and colors give a great punchy effect. Just to nitpick: you could maybe fix the reflection of your arm and phone in the sunglasses (with a nice gradient or another image for example)... Just an idea. Very impressive work!
@young karma : Your day 1 is really awesome! Great idea to go Black and white... Great moonlight feeling. I like dust and scratch texture you applied on your design. Graphics elements in the background add a nice dynamic too... You really nailed it!
@reef comet : Oh! Nice job on this one. You made an amazing job. I like the warm tones used and how you polished the face without losing essential details (eyes, nose and mouth). Particles and stars add a nice "magical" felling. Great job!
@glacial minnow : Great job! I like how you cleaned and brightened the model's face. Gradient adds a great sweet feeling to your design and the ellipses guide our eyes well to the main subject. Nicely done!

day2
Hi - just still learning. Thanks.
@simple idol : your day 1 challenge is really fine! Original picture is well chosen (I like patterns on the dress) and your geometric background gives a nice dynamic to the whole design (circle gives a nice focal point and diagonal adds "power"). Great skin softening too... Well done!
Challenge Day 2
Day 2: Natural Selections. I'm not sure when I'm supposed to stop on this one. I feel like I could keep moving the animals around and making the compositions "better" but then there is sleep which is also important... I decided to add a levels adjustment and lighten plus add little bit of noise and increase them both slightly as the animals go back into the image to hopefully create a better sense of depth.
@simple mason I really like the background you went with on this one. Kind of psychedelic!
Amazing week (again) I'm trying to catch up but there are only 24 hours in a day...🥵

I had to stop working on this one, my eyes!!! I did manage to add my little kitty familiar to the mix
@stoic junco : Nice composition! I like warm tones and how you placed the different elements out of bounds to create depth. Lovely textured background too. Well done!

This is so dope!
Thank you so much @hollow yarrow I appreciate the feedback 😘

@dim valve : Nice job! Always cool to see the before and the after. We can see and realize the amazing work you've done! Your polished portrait is awesome. I like how you softened the skin, how you warmed up the skin tone. Eyes look good to. To nitpick... maybe the red of the lips is a bit too intense (but it's just my opinion). Really Great job here!
@stark palm : Wow! Such a great composition! Cool to use gray background with Pink/Purple ellipse. Very contrasting and efficient! Elements are well organized and drop shadows add a great depth feeling! Great work!
@sonic saddle : Your dual tone polished potrait is simply Awesome! You did a great job. Ellipse in the bakground gives a nice sunset feeling. I like warm tones used and how the eyes pop! Very nice!
@compact anvil I like the background shape you went for with this one! Really nice work cutting out all these different animal images. I feel like perhaps the wolf on the left could use a levels adjustment to increase the contrast, but specifically brighten it up a bit to closer match the lighting of the rest of the images. Nice work!
@spare badge I like the triangular formation of this design! The triangle composition is always a go-to one for me, hah. I Like the stylized look of the gradients you put over the animals too, very nice job!
@sweet fern I really like how you made the lion in the center stand out and framed it with the rest of the animals. It has a really nice color and value contrast. The background gradient circle is a nice touch too. Looking good!
@thorn geyser Loving the color contrast in this! The pink and blue contrast very nicely and the colors of the animals are working very nicely as well. I really like the balance of the shapes of the animals breaking the frame, nicely done!
@fluid wharf Very nice variety of styles with these 3 designs! The Day 1 design has some really nice texture and color contrast. I kind of feel like the portraits for the first 2 designs could maybe use a bit of a boost in brightness via a levels adjustment layer, just to give them a little more pop. Nice work!
@sonic saddle This is great, loving the style you went with. Each element contrasts really nicely against each other and still has a nice cohesive look with the warm color palette. Great job!
thank you Sam for feedback
@pliant comet Hah, loving it! I like how you have a strong focal point with the center tiger being the biggest. I kind of feel like separating the background from the cats by shifting it either to a warmer or cooler hue, or by brightening it up a bit could help the cats pop a bit more. Nice work!
@oak mist I really like what you did with the sense of atmospheric perspective here, really nice depth! Really interesting and creative concept too. I like how the tent in the foreground is the highest point of contrast. It could even be cool to use an iris blur or something to make the back of the buck ever so slightly less focused than the rest, maybe even fading a touch too to push that depth effect even further. Just a thought of course, looks great!
@vague harbor Nice job with the masking and collaging all these images together! I like the gradient effect you added with the circle too. I kind of feel like it could be nice to move the zebra to the left so its seam is hidden behind the giraffe and we see more of the face, but that might be tricky to balance visually. Very cool!
@buoyant nova The cover is looking really nice! I like the subdued colors and contrast of the background. 👍
@blazing quail Awesome, really nice job arranging all these images together, the masking is looking really solid too. The bright background gradient gives the image a nice feel and contrasts the animals nicely. On small suggestion might be to boost the contrast of the tortoise in the foreground so its dark tones more closely match that of the rhino and rest of the animals. Well done!
@lucid plover This Day 3 challenge is looking great! Really nice seamless composite between these images. You handled the contrast nicely to make the foreground a nice focal point while the sky still adds a lot of interest. Loving the sort of surreal/sci fi look of this image!
@north galleon Great colors and style to this! The graphic shapes in the background add a lot of interest and the color temperature contrast draws a lot of focus to the face 👍
Here my challenge #2 image
@stark palm Ooh, loving the background graphics! The glasses look great, not sure if you edited them on completely, or just the design within the lenses, but either way it looks great. The contrast between the textured background and the portrait gives the face a nice focus. Well done!
@slow estuary Really cool, the edits definitely give it a lot more contrast. The color contrast between the warm yellow/orange and the background blue adds a cool stylized look to the whole thing. Nice job!
@young karma This looks great! I love what you did with the color/contrast of the portrait and the background graphic suits that very well. The blue also provides some great color contrast to frame the warm tones of the face. Very nice!

Day 2, Natural Selections- All of my pets!
Do you mean day 2? @bleak fossil
@lucid plover The one where you commented "DCC Day 2,Clean Selection (Collage Art)"
@severe tinsel Much improved contrast in this Day 1 challenge! The boost in brightness looks great and the grain effect is a nice touch as well 👍
@dim valve That's great, glad you joined us! Really nice job with the edits and retouching. Everything seems to have a nice, natural look to it, and the lipstick edit is an impressive touch. Nice work!
Thanks Sam! I just edited the inside lenses but should have added some color cast to the frames.

Alright @bleak fossil
@shy bobcat Really cool background gradients and textures on this Challenge 2 design! Great job with the masking and collaging all these animals together too. I like how you have a few of the animals breaking the frame, but I feel like the whole group of animals could be scale up so the zebra and giraffe also start to break out of the frame a bit too to make the effect a bit more prominent. Just an idea, well done!
@simple mason Really cool take on this challenge! Kind of a surreal/psychedelic feel to it with all the bold colors. I also like how the size and color of the flamingo makes it a strong focal point even with everything going on in this image. Looks good!
@hollow yarrow Hah, never enough hours in the day, I know how that is. I really like the style you pushed in this image, the shirt and background pattern add some nice graphic elements to the design. I like the simplified color palette too!
@bleak fossil Thanks very much Sam

@obtuse valley Nice color palette and I like the wavy distortion you've made. Nicely done!
wow your designs are eye-popping !!! I went into creative commons for these pics ( although I should have some of my own ! ) as they are on my mind as losing their habitat
Day #1. So behind because of my PHotoshop. My old computer can't handle it! I made her a bit young with the Neural Filter and her hair thicker 🙂 Day 2 challenge is probably going to take years since my computer is no good! 😭

@ruby panther wow, this looks really cool and catchy, I really like the tone of the picture 😁😁
I post my image yesterday, it seemed too large, the animals heads were off screen, anyone knows a fix?
it looks like its out of center in the original file
Thanks!

PSDCC Day 3 with Paul Trani - Colorize
Maybe I'll do this again later with a cat photo!
Day One
A day late ,not sure I like the background as a gradient.
Challenge #2 (My background image is by Cristina Gottardi on UnSplash.) How’s the perspective between the tiger and the other animals?
Amazing work @ruby panther ! Nothing to add... Oh yes... AWESOME! 👍
DCC Day 3 Managed to see Paul Live this morning. Great ideas here. @wooden bloom
Must do again with a cat photo! 😻
Todays challenge.
Great job @lucid plover ! You went for intense colors (a bit too intense for me but I presume it was your choice). Your piece is really eye catching and skin tones look really natural. Well done!
That was fun!
Where do you get/find the Photographic Toning options?
in gradients tab if i dont get wrong
give me a min to remember where it is
That's all I have
Glad that you find them
You're welcome miss
☺️
Here's what I did for day three. I tried to use all of the techniques together for better results.🤓
Ooh, lots of great challenges so far today, looking good everyone!

so the Neural Filters crashed my computer 😭
Photoshop 2021 is awesome but my computer can't handle it! The more they update the less I get to enjoy what I am paying for 😭 I know that this is not 1st world problem! Sorry for the moaning 😔
Does anyone here have a 2017 computer? or is it just me?!
Entry for day 3
I think it's more a question of system requirements... I think Neural Filters performances are directly dependent of your graphic card... You can check here https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html Hope it will help you!
System requirements for running the latest release of Photoshop on macOS and Windows.
I heard while ago, that neural filters runs with adobe cloud servers...

oh man i guess @lethal mural Will love this. I cranked all. Thanks to @brittle slate

@strange zodiac : I think your right but not totaly...It seems to me that these filters also use your graphic card for processing... Not sure. If you want to be sure you can post in "ask-a-question" section. I'm sure some Adobe expert could Help you... Good luck!
I agree with you, not only can be by cloud right? a Gpu have to procces some, part of, or all the infe.
Yes I think so...
Colorizing, by gradient map, y cranked by mistake on one of legacy and gave me that chrome that @lethal mural was talking about few months ago... Yes, its me. Im sorry if i bore all of you. Im trying to learn some new skills to use for my projects.

inspired by a music video i was watching
I thought my 2017 laptop with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 2GB RAM graphics card was good until I started using the Neural Filters and getting crashes and super slowness with Style Transfer or even just many layers/blend modes. Now, I'm waiting for a new desktop purchased on Cyber Monday... hoping that an 8GB video card and 32GB system RAM will resolve my issues.
Just for fun. Testing gradients, and modes applied to different layers.
What do you think guys?
She really stand out! I love it!

Challenge #03
Day 2 - Natural Selections
I did enjoy adding depth to the initial Colorize Neural filter though.
The final
Sooo what do u guys have to sayy??? Any suggestions for improvement....
Another possibility
Even I face the same problem with my geforce 940mx and an i5 gen 7
@vale wagon Loving these colors! Almost a sort of pearlescent look to them. I really like how you repeated the blur of the lips throughout the image, it makes for a really nice unified look to this whole design!
@lime meadow Great lighting in this photo! I like how the dark background really helps the image pop and it fits the color of the rest of the image nicely. Looks good!
@young karma Really nice job with the frame effect around the animals! I like the color effects you added in this design too, very cool.
@tropic haven I really like your Day 2 and Day 3 submissions. The design in the center circle of Day 2 is really great. How did you create that effect?
@trail condor Great take on this challenge! The tree and circle/arch at the top frame the rest of the image nicely. My only suggestion would be that adding a cast shadow effect under all the animals could make them feel more grounded in the scene and give it a bit more realism. A pretty quick way to do this would be to make a copy of all the animals and merge the duplicated images together. Then free transform it downward and under the animals to where it looks like a cast shadow. I'd probably fill the shape in with a sort of desaturated purple color and switch it to Multiply. Then a bit of a blur, and adjusting the overall opacity until it looks good to you. Just an idea. Really nice work with all the masking as well!
@young karma Really cool bright and bold color palette on this one! I like the contrast of the pink and blue flowers in the background. The text feels like it could read a bit stronger at a glance due to being around the same value as the yellow background, perhaps a subtle drop shadow on the text could help it pop and bit more? Nice work!
@bleak fossil sure, i'll add a drop shadow, sounds amazing...
@ruby panther Challenge 3 is looking really good! Nice job with the colorization, I like how the color from the eyes and lips (and flowers on the head of course) really pull the focus into the face. I feel like the dark tones in the lower part of the hair around the ears and neck looks a touch washed out from one of the layers, unless that was intentional of course. Nice job Shawn!
@north galleon Nice job, I like how everything has a uniform color grading and level of contrast. The cooler color of the background makes for a nice contrast with all the portraits too. My only minor nitpick would be to lower the whole thing down a little to give it more buffer space at the top, and perhaps give it a little extra space on the sides as well so it doesn't feel quite as cramped. Nice work, looks good!
@wary swan I really like how you framed an entire scene in the background, it adds a really cool look to the whole thing and contrasts very nicely with the green gradient background. I also like how you used certain animals to break out of the frame to add some nice depth. My only suggestion would be to maybe move the whole shape and animal collage up and to the left slightly to give it a more balanced placement and avoid the sort of tangent happening at the bottom. Great work!
@tropic haven Really cool style to this one! The stylized effect you added seems to create a bit more intensity in her facial expression which is really interesting. The texture in this design is looking great and the portrait contrasts with the background quite nicely as well. Great colors too!
@bleak fossil tq for the feedback I will do changes 🙂
@spare badge Nice job Daxa! I like the sort of complimentary color contrast you have between the yellow and purple tones in this image. The way you have purple tones at the top, middle, and bottom of the image gives the whole color palette a nice balance too. Looks good!
@supple canopy Really cool effects for both of these images! Gradients definitely have a lot of flexibility and potential between gradient fills and gradient maps, just takes some practice of course. Really interesting textures in these designs 👍
@queen dew Really cool effects! The neon/lighting effects are looking really cool. Even with all the colors being so bold there's a really nice clear readability between all the different shapes and colors. Nice job!
@young karma Very nicely done, the skin has a nice natural look to it, and the balance of that with the red flowers and cloth gives the color palette a nice cohesive look. Looking good!
@compact anvil Loving the bold colors and gradients you added in this image! Really great style. I like the separation between the more realistic colors at the bottom and the bold colors at the top. This is a fairly specific idea and totally up to your personal preference, but it the more muted colors at the bottom create some great contrast again all the bold colors around it. It could be interesting to try to mimic that same effect at the top by keeping all the bold colors in the portrait, but subduing them in the top part of the background. I wonder if that might make the face contrast and pop even more. Just an idea of course. Great work!
@sweet fern Very nice work on the coloration! I really like the unified look of the yellow/green color palette within the portrait and background. Nice job 👍
@wooden bloom Loving the style and direction you went with this image! The yellow creates a really strong framing and contrast for the face. The background graphics are a nice touch too. My only suggestion would be to get back the contrast you lost in the eyes and nose. I'd probably do this with a masked levels adjustment layer and a soft brush, just to get those dark tones back in there and keep the eyes as a strong focal point. Great design!
@winter tinsel Great concept for challenge 2! The glowing triangle looks great and the background within it you added creates a lot of interest. I like how you seem to be keeping the lighting more backlit to fit the image, but I feel like the head and shoulder areas of the tiger could still be brightened up just a bit to separate it from the background a bit more. Maybe even brightened using a slightly cool light to contrast the warm back light. I often like to use a color dodge layer for this to control the color, or masked levels adjustment layer. Very nice work!
Had fun with this. My Neural filters do not work and crash the computer so tried painting with gradient, background and LUTS. A nice way to end the day. Thanks
@orchid steppe Very nice! I love the bold red color throughout the image, it definitely gives it a lot of pop. The skin tone is looking very nice as well. If I had any suggestion it might be to put a bit more contrast (Both in the darks and lights) in the eye area to make them a bit more striking, and I feel like the hair could use a bit more contrast in the dark tones as well to match the rest of the image a touch more. Nicely done!
@stark palm Loving all the design variations you added with this one. I really like the more neutral/dark colors of the lips and eyes in the first image. I also really like the bold color contrast of the final image with the red background. The blue skin contrasts really nicely against all the warm tones and has a great style to it. Looks good!
One more try lol
@weary palm Great job masking out all these different animals, the composition is looking really nice too. I do wonder if the background could be separated from the animals a bit in terms of color of value a bit more. Maybe lightening the background overall, and increasing the contrast in the collage of animals with a levels adjustment to deepen the darks while keeping the light tones the same might give it a bit more contrast and pop? This is looking good, and the drop shadows are a very nice touch as well!
@obtuse valley Great effect Debbie! I especially like how bold the eye within the streaks of color is, it makes for an impactful look. I feel like repeating one more swipe of the green/yellow gradient layer across the body could balance the effect out a bit more? Just a thought. Very nice work!
thank you so much @bleak fossil. Vl work on it!

Late to the party! Challenge 1 polishing a photo - not my best work but a big improvement on the original 😅
Hey guys - what is happening with the Adobe Live Schedule on the Behance page? It's completely and totally
not a schedule -- it's not in chronological order at all. And some streams are not even listed. This is the 2nd day with these shenanigans! 🙂 Here's what the latest upcoming schedule looks like -- and following these listings are some for Dec. 8.
Yeah same here. All the 2021 updates are too heavy for my Imac. It's like being back in the 80s where everything is so slow! And sadly not all of us have an extra £££ to buy a new machine! I just want to complete one challenge..at least! 😕

@young karma Your colorized image is really awesome! I like how you gave a "Paul Trani" touch with pieces of face drooping and flowers coming out of openings... Just a point: I don't know if you did it on purpose but your face falling pieces don't have the same warm tones than the rest of the skin. I think you might use same tones than the rest of the body to keep the face more "realistic". Just an idea. Great job!!
Way to go, Steve! Thank you 😊
