@high wharf what a lovely portrait! I love in the B&W you’ve removed the background distractions as well. I’m losing her left shoulder as it blends into the background a bit, but I honestly don’t mind it. Good job!!
@coral stone both the color and b&w are stunning!
@short mica I think your color adjustments here are really strong! In b&w to me I’m losing some of the buildings in the distance and think the range of highlights and shadows could be pumped up in the foreground. Right now my eye is first jumping to the light spot in the clouds and overlooks the rest of the scene.
@thorn geyser both look great! I particularly love the second. For me in the Ferris wheel I’m losing a bit of the seats blending into the sky on the right side, but not by much.
@thorn narwhal Thank you. I had a previous version with that light flare over her shoulders, but than in black and white, it looked like a halo, so off it went with some cloning and burning. now the darkness is a visual metaphor for the inevitable darkness we will all face one day (no, not really lol)

Thank you so much @thorn narwhal 😃

@blazing quail love the subtle gradient you’re getting in the sky with the b&w here.
@nova yew impressive how much you can do on an iPad now!
@tacit condor all 3 of these are solid edits — which is your fav?
@high wharf I agree with your edit!
@granite carbon I love color too... so I’m all for your monochrome edit. Really fits the mood!
@thorn narwhal if you are talking about the girl that is bending back i would go with the one in the middle
It's so hard to get the shading right in b&w. Try using the curves adjustment tool along with the b&w tool for more vibrant lighting- below are pictures of the color image, followed by a singular b&w adjustment layer, and then finally a curve adjustment layer.
@tardy ember for me I think the single adjustment layer is enough, with the curves it reads a little flat. Since the focus is primarily on the lever, I don’t mind you get some fallout in the shadows in the background (although I don’t really think you do). Another fun approach is editing the levels in color and then adjusting the B&W from there to see if it’s a different result.

Challenge 4 B&W Original, After Lightroom, and after final processing in Photoshop (levels, content aware fill, patch and clone, and color overlay to enhance the black)
@short mica I believe that is Kiev.Beautiful picture👍
Had a few photos I took in Antartica that I always wanted to convert to Black & White so I have used this challenge to do so. 1st one is almost B&W as is.

B+W Conversion
That's super cool @unkempt field! You can also post the final image in .png or .jpeg so the colors don't get limited and compressed like the gif 😉
@thorn narwhal Subtle adjustments; what do you think? Thank you for the feedback your time is appreciated.

Great job keeping the contrast of the spider man's suit @ivory void. My only suggestion is to keep the image with the same proportion so it would not look stretched 😉
@young karma did piximperfect imitate you or you imitated him because few months ago he also did the exact same thing with an elephant.

Yeah man, You guessed it right😁 . I have not imitate him, Piximperfect is pro man😎 . I have just practice on some other photo. There is no way to imitate him. He is a good teacher. @inner ice
@inner ice Please give feedback on my work. How I have done. 🙂
@young karma sorry for using the word "imitate"
You work is super coool. lioness are looking too awesome.
It is looking even better than the elephant.
If you have used a high resolution image, it'd look more realistic.
@inner ice It have edited on high resolution it's about 3-4 mb is size. Therefore I not uploaded it.
@young karma great.
Showcase it in a simple mockup and upload it to your behance.
upload the hi-res image
@inner ice here is the high-res image. I have compressed little bit.😁
I was playing with photoshop
and this came out.😜 I hop you like it.
this is RAW
@young karma what an awesome manipulation.

@coral stone Thank yo so much and I'll keep that in mind 🙂

No problem @ivory void 🙂
@young karma beautiful! I think the sky could be slightly darker to increase the contrast 🙂
you could even add a mask and a gradient, so the sky gradually gets darker
Thank you Tim, I have tried 🙂
Day 1 - Photo Editing, resized the moon.
Day 2 - Crop Tool
Day 3 - Geometry , straightening in LR and PS
@unkempt field all your edits are very clean and if you only gave me the edited version, I probably couldn't even tell someone has edited them 👍 . I like the bigger moon because now the framing of the shot has a reason to include the moon. You could also draw attention to the cloud by brightening up the highlights a bit 🙂
When you share your files, I would be ideal if you shared a bigger version of the files with more resolution 🙂 You can use jpg to share your work - this will drastically reduce the filesize, even for physically larger images.
@young karma nice! Thank you for posting the update 🙂 - by the way, don't be afraid to go a bit darker. Black&white photos are great for high-contrast looks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Marsch
@whole flame When looking at the b&w version I can tell you went for a more natural look. The clouds are soft and the shadows in the trees still have a lot of detail. I think you could perhaps try a more punchy look. Luckily there is a pretty easy way to achieve this effect. In Camera Raw/Lightroom, play with the Clarity, Texture and Dehaze slider. As long as you don't overdo it, you should be rewarded with an increased contrast and more punchy tones.
@ocean moss for which challenge is this submission 🙂 ?
@unkempt field nice grain texture 🙂 - too bad the flag is cut off by the frame 😦
The image itself seems a bit dark. This is great if you're going for a moody look but IMO you could totally have some highlights in there. A great tool to visualize the brightness is the Histogram.
everything on the left is dark and everything on the right is bright. As you can see, there are almost no pixels on the right
You can use the Levels filter in Photoshop to fix this. Simply drag the white slider to the left like this:
@young karma haha, the second one certainly has more extreme edits 😛 . Personally I would reduce the contrast of the clouds a bit . Just so the whites aren't clipping 🙂
@rough furnace Nice! Love the contrast in the trees and the buildings. The sky right here looks a bit weird though, I think you could darken it slightly
Yes I noticed that too after I posted! Thanks for the feedback
@bold valley Haha, suddenly this looks like the words most serious birthday cake 😄 I probably wouldn't go that dark with the chocolate cake. Just slightly lower the overall contrast to bring back the detail. This would also soften the icing which would make it look more pleasing
@short mica Well done! Just slightly increase the highlights until you are using the full brightness spectrum. The image seems to be heavily compressed. Was the original also compressed or have you decreased the jpg quality?
oh, just saw the comment by Aaron. He has a point with the visual hierarchy
If the clouds are this bright, you will distract the eye from the buildings, so I guess you did the right thing ^^
@glacial path Any material about eye movement/reaction to photos that you could suggest, have no knowledge on subject until it was pointed out ........@thorn narwhal Thanks
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
Thanks for your input and critique - I will look at the original image to see if the top of the flag is there!
@short mica I mean I'm not an expert in that field 😄 - Generally people prefer bright and vibrant colors, human faces (or faces in general) and symmetry. Since you don't have any colors in a black & white image you can use contrast to "simulate" the vibrant colors. Faces and symmetry will still work though. If something his highly symmetrical for example (like a big circle - think moon or sun), people tend to gravitate around that
I'm sure there are tons of psychology & art books written about this
Without any expectations in a photo, our eyes are left to browse for themselves in what seems like free movement. A good photographer will understand the elements making up the photo. They’ll use them to direct the attention of the viewer to a certain point.
This has a lot to do with visual weight. In this photo, the sun on the left side is drawing our attention first, before the brightness encourages the eyes to look elsewhere.
And finally, if you recognize an object, a building, a scene or a person, you tend to look at it/them first
@glacial path Thank you so much for the overview. The "" elements"" are present in digital art as well Watched the Calop streams this weekend and it was definitely mentioned....... Well.. no doubt I'm looking for the monarch notes ;))
Tim thank you so much definitely beyond the call of duty🕊️

@glacial path oh in sorry I'm not sure if I was suppose to post here but it was just a personal challange for learning Photoshop in general
@feral coral👏 👌
I tried to look it like infra red photography
this was almost bl&w. I made a bl&w layer and adjust some contrast. I kept the colors in these people on the Glacier by making a layer copy of them.
Sorry for the late response, @thorn narwhal thank you for the comments, I appreciate it as it's a reassurance that i'm on the right track to learning more of photoshop. @lyric dome thank you for the compliment, I went for that look to come up with a calm serene type of vibe, I'm glad you appreciated it.

#psdailychallenge-Day4; Black & White Photo with a bit of geometrical adjustments.
@short mica Looks much better I think! Good job. If you wanted to keep that full range of levels like @glacial path is suggesting, I'd suggest trying to brighten up the buildings and keeping the sky levels dulled out light you now have using adjustment layer masks. I don't mind how the image reads how you have it now though, to me it's easier to process the main scene.
@stuck saffron Love the contrast here between the surfer and the rest of the frame. Nice subtle adjustments retouching out the surfers in the background as well. I do wish there was a little bit more texture visible in the waves/water instead of as bright as you have it, though. I think it'd just help set the scene a little bit stronger.
@short phoenix This looks nice! Good job with the geometric adjustments without distorting the figure. One thing to consider is the levels of her clothes is very similar to the background, so it's a little hard to separate her from her environment. They looked pretty similar in the color version as well, but I think because of color balance variance in the highlights and shadows it is easy to process as separate. I'd suggest playing around to either darken or lighten her clothes even more to see if you can get a bit more separation, either through adjustment layer masks or dodging/burning. Let me know if you have any q's!
@young karma Really nice effect! I didn't even notice the people at first in the second pic!
@golden mango Great B&W conversion and love how perfectly square that rock is. Looks like you didn't even need to do any geometric adjustments to perfect it!

Text challenge
Many thanks for the constructive criticism, you were right!
Updated from live stream feedback.
@edgy idol Love how the text fits between the rock formations here. Might be nice to fit it perfectly hide the very tops + bottoms of the letters that are still overlapping using a layer mask.
@nova swan Which is your favorite?
@mental shale Love how the trees overlap the text here! Nice and simple yet effective
@forest aspen I think the second one is more effective as well, though I do like your placement of the text in the water in the first! Both show good understanding of placement of texts without taking away from the original images.
@nova yew Fun use of the rope here! It could be really cool I think to just have the rope be one line until the "o," and to completely erase that last text letter so that the rope fully replaces it.
@silk hatch A bit hard for me to read the text here, I would consider adding a drop shadow behind or playing around with placement (maybe in the water?). There is so much texture in the trees I think it competes a bit with the text.
@short phoenix The yellow tones contrast nicely with the complementary purples/blues around the image. Good choices!
@thorn geyser Looks nice! I'm not sure that you even need that slight drop shadow behind the letters like you have it. There seems to be enough contrast that exists between the letters + sky, and without might make it look a bit more modern. It's up to your personal preferences, though 🙂
updated typography with hand drawn type made in Fresco. also added cow on right to photo.
@thorn narwhal I originally had put both tops and bottoms behind the rock, but it just didn't feel right, almost too flat? I tried to add a very subtle shadow to the top parts that "touch" the rock, but I think they may be too subtle to tell. :/
@edgy idol Fair enough! What if instead of a plain white you played with a subtle gradient? Maybe a warmer tone into the white from the bottom? Just a thought!
@short mica I like how the red in the text here mirrors the lights in the buildings!
@thorn narwhal hmm, that might be interesting, I will have to try it.
@thorn narwhal 👍 eye dropper tool ..... a DCC. sop...! 1
@minor ermine nicely done and solid placement! I think this wider serif font works beautifully with the background. The outlined text adds some character to the title, just like the clipped sky inside the upper text area. The alignment of the image inside the text is a bit off though, it almost looks like the A is missing both feet
apart from that you have a really cool submission 🙂 Thank you for sharing
@glacial path Thank you very much for your remark, I am happy to share with you 😃
🤟
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@short mica like Aaron said, it is nice to have the red both in the text and the buildings, however the color contrast between the two highly saturated colors red and blue-ish-cyan is pretty sark. Perhaps you could go with a more orange or yellow tone (this would go nicely with the "city lights" part). White could also be an option but you would lose the embossed highlights
@nova yew Ha nice 😄 ! This handlettering is very nice and unique, certainly better than one of these pseudo hand written fonts! The cow on the right could be a touch darker. Just use the curves adjustment layer to reduce the brightness. The color of the text matches the color of the sky - good attention to detail 🙂
@glacial path I did use a little yellow and red in the "lights" probably should have went with a darker variety 🕊️
something I have just noticed, your colors seem to be off. are you using a different color profile for your work? @nova yew the upper image is a screenshot of the preview in chrome and the lower one is from Photoshop
ah yes, you are using Prophoto RGB. Do you have a specific reason for that 🙂 ? Usually it's best to share your images as sRGB on the internet
@minor ermine Same thing with your image. It looks like you are using a different color space called "Display" instead of sRGB. Is that on purpose 🙂 ?
@thorn geyser Yeees! I'm a big fan of wider fonts like this 👍 . I agree with Aaron, you don't need the drop shadow behind the text 🙂 If you like to keep it though, embrace it; make it bigger and softer but reduce the opacity... ooooor you could go with a super sharp faux-3d look where you use the drop shadow as an extrusion of the text. As long as you don't drag it too far from the original text, it shouldn't look too bad
@short phoenix Beautiful, I like how you have transformed the daytime scene to an other-worldly nighttime shot. The new sky and the person in the foreground is a great bonus. The person should perhaps be a bit darker on the left side since the light is coming from the right
the "FORWARD" text could be a bit hard to read. you could either add a super thin (white?) outline to highlight the edges or move it somewhere less busy. I guess you could also mess with the colors but I like the original color
@fast moth once again an amazing transition! I love how the green in the roof of the building really pops! Just make sure not to oversaturate the sky 🙂 Well done
@glacial path Now
Day 5 - Text
Black and white challenge
@wispy compass I like you treatment of keeping the letters close here so the use of the image to fill it is easier to see! The way the faces are positioned between the O and the V is really nice. I do think overall "LOVE" blends in a bit with the background. I'd suggest either brightening the highlights of the base image or playing around with some sort of outline or drop shadow on the main "LOVE" ?
@unkempt field The "Ancient" fits really nice and snug here and the contrast between the pyramid texture and the sky is great. I like the treatment of text on the second image too! My only comment there is that it's a bit hard to read the "n" in broken. I wonder if there's a part of the image you can use to have it kind of fade just the end of the letter away like the "B" does so nicely?
@nova swan This is nice, although I do miss the pop of those yellow flowers in the B&W version! I wonder what would happen if you brighten the yellow levels using the B&W Adjustment mask? I bet you could get some more contrast to pop a bit in the grass. Really good control not overexposing the highlights or getting to many pure black values in the shadows overall, though.
@thorn narwhal thanks for the notes. I agree about the rope. I would integrate it more if I had a little more time. Have been doing everything on iPadPro so a little slower finding things and such.

@nova yew I like your approach with the revised edit and the handwritten text anyways! Gives it a great organic feel that mirrors the rope.

@tacit condor cool photo I like the adjustments
My original edit, from a concert that i went to Saturday Night "The Sauce Boss" Who cooks gumbo while rocking out on a blues guitar.
With today's challenge of text.
Can tell i am up way too late and tired while doing this, didn't even think of content aware tool till after i posted. Here is upgraded edit. Good Night, looking forward to what is next.
Played a lot with this photo including content aware removal, loving the smarter version on the new Photoshop update. Also replaced the sky for more a postcard look. Not entirely happy with text, but another one to go back to another day.
Original Image
Day 5: Text.
Good job! @tacit condor Nice choice of font and well done masking the text.
Love the photo and choice of font! @night maple
Really good before and after! @hidden pendant
Well done @ruby panther on masking the text. Nice photo.
These are great! @stuck saffron
@stuck saffron very clever
@ @honest gorge dodge and burning will make this day 4 image more cinematic. 😁
@tacit condor Great job compositing the photos in the before! I like how the "Sedona" in this is placed behind the rocks and the "Arizona" in front. I think the "Arizona" might blend in just a bit with the land, particularly at the base of the letters. Maybe a drop shadow or darker palette would help?
@night maple Ok, he seems fun! I must look him up. I would suggest changing the path/angle the subtext follows, it might be nice to have it more parallel to the direction of his arm/wrapped around. I think the way it is placed right now kind of competes, if that makes sense.
@hidden pendant The sky replacement looks solid here! How do you wish the text was different? What are you not sold on?
@ruby panther I like how the "Bridge" kind of mirrors the bend of the actual bridge in the image! For me, the different in font weights is kind of extreme and I'd suggest something a bit bolder for the "bridge" to help it all read as one idea instead of just two separate words. Also generally with script fonts, having too much space between the letters can always seem a bit weird as it breaks up their flow. Hope this helps!
@stuck saffron I think your color palettes are all great here! I particularly like the rust image and how the text blends in with the image.
@hidden pendant Great job on the sky replacement. A couple of thoughts on the type; you could rotate the image inside the text or try using the sky along with a layer style (like a drop shadow, bevel and emboss, stroke, or inner glow).
😄
@glacial path Thanks for the info. I did everything in PhotoShop on iPadPro saved to iCloud documents and then dragged into Lightroom on Mac to export so I could upload to Discord. I'll double check the Lightroom export settings.

AdobeChallenge Day 6 Color Adjustments: Here's my take at this tricky image. Really worked on getting foreground moss to show up without losing the golden tones of sunset.
challenge 3
@short mica Love what you did with the image. Beautiful colors!
Photo color adjustment. Channeling my inner purple.
Challenge #6: Color Adjustments
@edgy idol gorgeous photo. All those lines I want to straighten them
@nova swan 🤣 Ah yes, nature, she is a curvy lady sometimes... but I felt guilty trying to straighten a natural curvy and very "slanty" basin ... might be neat to play with just for fun, but would definitely distort from reality here.
@buoyant nova Yes, it's Gozo
@thorn geyser Xlendi Bay
@buoyant nova Yes! 😄
@thorn geyser Lived in Sliema until two months ago, now in Cyprus
@young karma I like how the placement of the text kind of followings the vertical mood of the building! I think the lighter peach color in the letters might not be enough contrast with the background to help full separate out the word.
@nova yew The tones looks beautiful here particularly in the moss in the front of the image and in the sky. My only thing I would say is to watch what's going on in this area -- I'm not sure if it's from your export settings or if this appears to you the same way?
@short mica This is really nice and I love the warmth in the highlights. I would just watch bringing out too much saturation in the noise of the shadows, particularly the green cast in the black sand.
@daring gust Love the colors in the sky here and warmth of the shadows! I just wish the shadows were slightly lighter so that there was a little detail in the foreground to create more depth overall.
@nova swan I dig the inner purple!
@buoyant nova This is nice! I would consider making your text a touch bigger, and also straightening out your horizon line on both the Croatia + Iceland images.
@edgy idol Really lovely treatment of the sky! I wonder if there's more subtle adjustments you can do to really make some of the tones in the rocks pop a tad more?
@PMAC okay thank you
@fallow bough I think in both of these your treatment of the sky is particularly great to make it stand out without looking fake.
@thorn narwhal Soooo funny story, I originally had a bolder take on it, but was afraid I had gone too far in the oranges, so I made a more muted version (the one I posted) and asked my hubby his preference between the two. He preferred the more toned down one, but you know that feeling when you ask someone what they prefer and that all of a sudden makes you more aware of what you think you like... but because you asked someone else you feel torn - hope that makes sense? So I went to go grab my first version to upload it here and ask you about it, but I had already thrown it away, emptied my trash and closed my documents.... I feel silly now for not having just kept the extra layer in there. 🤦🏼♀️
Here's a quick attempt to get back to what I think I had... but of course I'm just going off of memory as I don't remember what my settings were before I went towards the more muted look
before crop and color adjustment, i love here expression.
@thorn geyser I ❤️ the soft hue/palette of your edits!
final edit. the picture was taken at sunset on a cloudy day under trees, i wanted it to feel warmer.
this is with a cooler tone. Still a bit undecided so not so final edits. LOL always playing
She was very pretty none the less and i was very envious. i hope i am doing her justice.
@night maple I think I like the cooler one a bit better, but only because the warmer one just feels too yellow on her skin. I still like the idea of a warmer image, but I think it just needs to be balanced with not over doing the skin.
@edgy idol I know the feeling all good well! Happens to the best of us. I like both versions and see the appeal in the more muted tones, but for me I like your newer edit better. I think I prefer the sky more in the original as the more muted blue, but I think the priority here is seeing the appeal of the rocks which is why I lean towards that one 🙂
Text Challenge
@shadow cradle Great job! The Queensland text could perhaps have a bit more contrast to increase the legibility 🙂
the placement of the text could help with that by placing it on a less busy part of the image
@kindred kernel Wow, you have really changed up the colors 😄 I love the intense blue tones in the sky! The green is a bit oversaturated though - I would reduce the saturation or shift the deep green tones towards yellow.
Something like this
@granite carbon Beautiful! I love how you brought back more of the texture in the walls 🙂 Unfortunately the sky is very blown out - if you like, you could fix that by adding a gradient in Photoshop and using the Kyle Webster Cloud brushes (in the Concept pack) to paint in some clouds. Alternatively you can also just use a photo of some clouds.
I really think it could bring back some texture 🙂
For this effect I have selected the sky in Photoshop and used one of the default gradients in the blue category plus the "Kyle Concept Brushes - Fat Clouds" brush
sorry *Clouds Fat, not Fat clouds
@left basin so good! I think you've aced this challenge 😄 The fall/autumn transformation is spot on and the crop also ties the whole shot together. Fantastic work 👍
@night maple Love the color grading you did and the cooler version is much more natural 🙂 . One thing to watch out for is the color noise and noise in general. Luckily you can remove most of it in Camera Raw by playing with the color noise reduction slider
this is what I got
I know it's still far from being noise-free, but it certainly is an improvement 🙂
you can then use the Reduce Noise filter as a second pass to remove more noise (or you can start with this one)
@glacial path Thanks for pointing out the color noise reduction slider. That's one I could have used in the past and will be using going forward.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
before and after
Just don't push it too far or your image will become very soft. I actually don't mind a bit of grain in a photo 🙂
@glacial path I vaguely remember a JPG artifact reduction filter from a pre-CS version. Do you know if it still exists?
Yup, still there inside the Reduce noise filter (check the screenshot above for the "Remove JPEG Artifact" checkbox) 🙂 @fallow bough
honestly I haven't really had much luck with it, but I guess trying it out can't hurt. Worst case: you uncheck it again
By the way, Camera Raw and the Reduce Noise filter will both produce different results if you crank up the Color slider to 100. On the left you can see Camera Raw and on the right the Reduce Noise filter
Camera Raw is noticeably softer resulting in a more film-grainy look
Nice. Been looking for it but since I didn't know about the reduce color noise filter, I didn't know to look there. It seems to me Adobe's algos are doing a better job of compressing files w/o introducing noticible artifacts.
@night maple one final thing, when blurring the image it can be a good idea to introduce some grain over the blurred areas to match the original grain. The Lens Blur Filter actually has that option built in (Filter -> Blur -> Lens Blur)
So this
becomes this
Day 6 - Color Adjustments
I know this looks like a subtle detail but I can assure you, it can make a difference especially for larger prints 🙂
Sometimes a tiny bit of noise can make your composition look much more real and hide some of the imperfections
Day 6
Thank you@thorn narwhal not really happy with font on Cambodia, don't think it is a good match for the image or the country, however a lighter font would not have worked for the challenge. I like the font on Bayon Temple, but didn't work with challenge either. I was at a point I was looking too long at it and could not place image how I wanted it.
Thank you @pastel spade I had not thought of rotating the image DUH, I did try the sky when I had Cambodia in bottom right corner, but felt too light (ie did not stand out for a postcard). Will try your suggestions later today.
Day 6 Color adjustments. I did the sample to lighter up the cliffs and other stuff.
Day 6 Original
@glacial path Thanks for the advice i will definately put it to good use. I still have 1200 picture from that day to go through, plus a few hundred more from other randomness. I rarely go anywhere, in the last 3 years with out my camera, and spend most evenings now in lightroom, rushing through hundreds of shots. I am trying hard to work on quality improvement over quantity. When i was younger i was a print film developer and photographer, the photography i put down for 20yrs due to some bad patron experiences, couldn't get me near a camera. Now i do it for my own enjoyment and challenge. And developing....well digitalization took care of that. Sorry, rambling.

@bold valley thats looks really good! Great job! How did you go about this? I'm curious to your technique. Did you use Lightroom brush or did you fix this in photoshop?
@lyric dome Thanks, Temi. I started off with LR Classic doing the lens correction then did an auto correction in the Basic section. Messed around abit with levels but didn't like anything, so I went to PS. There I again played with controls in the Raw Camera filter. Ended up doing some Dodging on the cliffs and sand. That's it.

Original Image of Sunset over Weddell Sea Antartica
Day 6 (2nd edit) - Brought into Photoshop to replaced sky (thanks @glacial path ) and also fixed the wonky curve at the base of the building near bottom with Warp. Got me thinking, should I NOT fix the buildings to have straight verticals, since I am looking down on the scene. When do you start thinking about three point perspective?
@wispy compass Good job with adjusting the colors but keeping their skin/hair/etc in a "natural" palette that works in the context of the rest of the photo. I must say I prefer the warmer original version though 🙂
@honest gorge Really solid job here!
@bold valley The rocks and sand look great! I think you are losing a bit of brilliance in the sky and water here though. I don't think it has to be extremely pumped up if that's not your style, but it does seem a bit duller than the original as it is a tad lighter.
@hidden pendant You can always come back to your text edit after resting on it! Sometimes I get so frustrated with a project and fixate too much that I have to put it away for a day or two 🙂 For your color adjustments, I think your Lightroom version is nice! I like the cyan tones in the shadows in contrast with the warmth of the sky. For Photoshop, I think your sky saturation is a bit extreme in the reds/pinks, as it's starting to lose some information around the clouds and where the sky meets the mountains, creating those harsh solid outlines instead.
@ruby panther really nice! Great controlled edits that is making everything pop perfectly to me in this image. Looks lovely!
Thank you @thorn narwhal

@granite carbon I am sure @glacial path has a better answer, but I think deciding which perspective to prioritize fixing is a personal choice. For me here, while you are looking down, the verticals seem nearly straight enough that I would consider fixing them. Alternatively, if you want to keep the idea of looking down on the scene, I would force that perspective even more while ensuring the horizontal lines are straight. This second edit with the new sky looks really nice, though!
@blazing quail Nice exposure adjustments! For me the cool tones in the midtones and shadows of the birds are blending in with the waves in the background a bit. I wonder if there's anything you could do to slightly separate them a bit more?
@rough furnace I like your surreal approach! For me, the yellow and blues seem a bit too separate, I wonder if you could make more of a gradient transition between the two? Good catch implementing those blues/purples back into the waves as well, but I am noticing the same thing where the blue is distinctly separate from where the yellow tones are.
@glacial path Thank you!

@lyric dome Thanks.

@thorn narwhal I thought so too. But I didn't want to get too carried away with the sky. Thanks .
@thorn narwhal Thanks.
@hidden pendant Great job on your color adjustments! I think the work you did on LR was so amazing! Photoshop was good as well, but I think it was a bit extreme on the red's . It's starting to look like lava. I would suggest possibly reducing the saturation for that specific color! But other than that it looks great! @ruby panther I love the color correction you did! It's very subtle but makes a big difference!
@mental shale Very nice! I think the color correction looks amazing. My only critique is to be careful with the blues. Sometimes we can over correct an Image to the point that it doesn't look as natural. I love how you focused on making the building white! It looks amazing! I just wonder if it's too white since the blue hues start showiinig up
@blazing quail this looks amazing! Great job! and great shot!
@rough furnace II love how everyone is letting their personality show through these color adjusments! I love the blueish hue & Yellow. It's very calming lol. Good job! I'm guessing you use LR for this? And lol no problem on using the spot removal 🙂
@lyric dome tried to make look like daylight (6500k),but point taken!
i think the blue arc just became more"Alive" rather then "too white"but that my opinion
Day 7 Live! Did this one as Terry did his, in real time.
Thanks @lyric dome

Mine's not quite 1080 wide because I actually warped it a bit to try to straighten out the perspective, so I had to crop it down.
Thank you @honest gorge ... I’m not terribly happy with the outcome either!

I altered the perspective and removed some of the red signs from the pillars to try to produce an even cleaner image. Just a quick and dirty attempt.

@kindred kernel Very cool! I like the HDR feel!
@mental shale Of course! if it works for you thats great! Just wanted to offer an alternative. It still looks great!
PSDCC #7 Remove Object
Challenge Day 7 Removing Objects: I removed foreground and background items to help the art stand out more.
the original photo.
Challenge #7: Remove Object - So in my first edits I not only removed the reflections, but also all the dots (or what I like to think of as jelly poop). I also did a rendition that kept most of the jelly poop, as I think they almost look like stars. Any preferences on either one? Keep the jelly poo, remove the jelly poo?
first time doing a challenge. Ended up ok I guess (made with PSD)
Nice job @gaunt magnet !

PSDCC #7 Remove Object pt2
Great job @tacit condor There's so much life on the image now. Loved it 💙
@tacit condor The boats look so much better here, and I dig the water color and the removal of objects in it! One thing to consider is the cool tones in your midtones that are white in real life (in the facade of the buildings, the bridge in the background), as they are coming across here with a very blue cast. I'd also consider straightening out your horizon line.
@gaunt magnet Looks pretty solid to me!
@edgy idol Personally a fan of #2 (removed reflections + all spots), I think the image has really nice movement and it is more striking clean!
@whole flame This all looks really nice and controlled! The only thing I'm unsure about is the darker outline on this lone formation here -- is that what you got when you exposed the image? Or is it leftover from the original while trying to lighten that bit of the image up? Since the water kind of holds the same midtones and none of the other landscape appears as light, I'd consider darkening it a bit.
@tacit condor your original beach edit looks pretty solid as well! I am just noticing some blur that disrupts the texture of the beach sand as you move toward the horizon line here.
@wispy compass Fantastic work! The edit is super seamless, like the objects have never even existed 🙂 Nice attention to detail: you have also removed the reflection of the removed... uh... thing in the background 😄 ! You have accidentally duplicated the highlights though. perhaps you could just go over the doppelgänger again to break up the pattern. Just to be clear, I only noticed it because I have seen the original 👍
@tacit condor Dang it, @thorn narwhal already pointed out everything I wanted to say 😄 First of all, great edits! The removal of the objects is a great improvement but unfortunately it left some artifacts in the form of color noise behind. Not a huge deal, I know, but something that you can fix 🙂
to fix it, roughly select the area using any tool you like (the lasso tool is probably just fine 😄 ) and feather the selection
@thorn narwhal you find it ^^
What i have done is that I ajust the light with the curves tool, but i don't want this curves layer to affect the entire image so i use a layer to hide part of the effect (but you see that sometimes i messed up because i do it fast ^^), then i use hue and saturation to fix some red "impurities" on the beach that i don't want, like on this photo
(sry if my english isn't perfect 😉 )
@tacit condor now add a Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer and check the colorize checkbox. Match the hue and saturation of the surrounding water by dragging the sliders in the properties panel.
finally, bring back the selection by CMD/CTRL clicking the mask of the hue/saturation layer. Select the image layer and duplicate the selection using CMD/CTRL + J. Now you can select the new layer and use the Texture Slider in Camera Raw to reduce the grain (or you can also use the remove noise filter)
If the effect is too strong, reduce the opacity of both the adjustment layer and the duplicated part of the image
@whole flame thank you for the updated post 🙂 Yes, the lighting looks great and the contrast also pops! But it looks like you have introduced some color artifacts using the Hue/saturation layer. You can see some of the blocks here
Gave +1 Creative Carma to St0rm___
to reduce these blocks, open the reduce noise filter
and crank the Color Noise slider all the way to the right but leave all the other sliders at 0. You should get something like this
@glacial path Thanks you for this tips!!
i ll try that
thx;)

Removed some dead flowers. To reconstruct the base of the center flower, I painted a stem, and copied the bottom of the large foreground flower. Recolored the brown on the foreground flower on a new layer set to "Hue" blending mode. Instead of removing the petal near the bottom, I recolored it Green with a "Color" blending mode. Now it's a leaf!

@ivory void That is seriously insane! Do people get blown over by the wind created by the plane?!?!
Thank you @glacial path ....good point... the reflection on the water does look wrong...I will fix it!
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@ivory void Is this original image real?! I have so many questions. I think this generally looks great, but I can see somewhat of a pattern leftover where you removed the people in the foreground. You might want to try using the patch tool or even clone stamp to try to blend it a bit more naturally with the rest of the sand.
@unkempt field Your edits look pretty solid here! Love that you boosted/corrected the colors on the pyramid image as well. Great attention to detail with the selection of removals in this scene. I am just noticing a subtle repeat pattern at the base where you've edited out the car. Definitely not an easy area to modify, but I think zoomed out it's really hard to tell!
More distractions removed!
@shell chasm on your object removal, this is a really impressive feat! I would just be careful of getting too much of the same repetition particularly in the grass here which makes it start to look unnatural on around the outer middle edges. Maybe by using the clone tool you can break it up a bit? The biggest thing I'd say is ensuring the bleachers in the background maintain what would be their original lines so it's not as obvious of an edit. Overall I really like the new sky and agree that the cleaned up version is much more pleasing to the eye, though!
@thorn narwhal The image that I used is original what I did was that I deleted the people who were on the beach and the part was a little dark there were the people but if I forget the other tool that can be cloned for the next one I will keep in mind!!!!!
@edgy idol If people really get below just where the plane passes and the air that causes the plane pushes people.
@ivory void That's sooo crazy! It would be so cool to be there taking pictures.... you wouldn't even need a telephoto lens! ✈️
@edgy idol It must be excellent to see the plane that passes over where one is standing, it must be a unique experience and take good photos
@uncut ginkgo thanks to you - and you're right, beach cleanup is a never-ending story!

Object Removal & Crop. Tried to leave full image however could not successfully remove lady on left, so ended up cropping slightly. I don't really think it made any difference to the image. Wondering if I should crop a bit of the top as well.

Amended version of PS Colour Adjustment, reducing Saturation on the red. Thank you @thorn narwhal and @lyric dome I was not sure if it was a bit much or not.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Temi Coker
@thorn geyser I like your approach! All spot removals look great from what I can tell. I like the still silhouetted structure but being able to see a little bit of the texture of it. Colors are lovely too!
@silk hatch Looks nice! I like that the added purple/indigo tones in the sky contrasts more with the yellow of the building. I do think your vertical lines are a bit overcorrected here with the geometric distortion, so I'd consider trying to fix those again to not take away from the overall image.
@hidden pendant I agree, I think the crop is the easiest way to adjust the image and don't think it takes anything away. I would consider cropping off the top as well! The ratio is a bit unnaturally vertical to me.
PSDCC #7 redux...will be working on the cool tone next.
@left basin the composition feels very balanced and clean with the adjustments you made!

Local adjustments (top, original bottom): Painted clarity in water, saturation and exposure on plane, temperature on trees, and saturation on buildings. Probably not the best photo for this type of adjustment since there is so much detail.
Challenge #8: Local Adjustments - I used 3 separate LR local adjustments to 1. brighten the edge of the background, 2. lighten the kitty, and 3. balance the light variation between her two eyes + boost the color a bit. I then used PS to extend the crop and tried to recreate the tip of one of her toes + the shadow under it. I also added noise to this corrected area because the the tool I was using softened it too much... this was the first time I had ever added noise to an image which I choose to do after reading a tip @glacial path provided to someone else. I currently feel her eyes might be too pronounced, making it not as realistic, but eh 🤷🏼♀️
I also just noticed some weird "smudges" I missed... despite cleaning my notebook's display, I still manage to get finger smudges on it and sometimes can't tell what's on an image vs smudge on screen when editing 🤦🏼♀️ ...please tell me I'm not the only who seems to make this error on occasion 😫

Day 8 Before and After. I increased the clarity of the water using the brush, and added a blue and yellow graduated filter.
@glass sphinx This looks solid! I like that you removed the bits of white on the poles as well -- good attention to detail. Did you try to remove the tree peaking in on the right hand side that overlaps the building? I don't think it's a major thing, but might look even cleaner without it.
@silk hatch Goodbye bird! I think the table edge especially looks good here.
@left basin This looks nice! I'd consider "removing" that patch of green grass as well so that it blend in with the rest of field and doesn't distract from the rest of the scene.
@trail field Moody! I really love this color palette. I love the darkness of the midtones and what it's doing at the top and bottom of the this image in the sky/water, but I'd consider lightening it up just a tad in the middle (particularly on the left side). I think we're losing just a little too much information.
@fallow bough I think this image is great to use! It's nice to see a lot of "little" edits in the details to realize how big of an impact these subtle adjustments can make. I think the scene looks way more impressive with your edits. The only thing I would watch out for is the oversaturation/purple casts you're getting in the greens and around the cement.
@blazing quail Looks really nice! It's funny, the blue makes me notice the color in the noise in the rest of the image, particularly on the right on the path. Is there another local adjustment you can do here to fix this? You could try to remove noise, but even just desaturating might work in this case.
@edgy idol I think with a studio shot like this, there's room to push things a bit like you have the eyes here. I don't mind them and don't think they look too unnatural. I am noticing a slightly darker faint outline around the top of the head, but everything else looks great. Re: smudges, happens to me all the time 😅 I try to clean my screen weekly, but will go over final images by zooming in and out a bunch if I think there's a smudge to see if it's on the image or on my screen. Kind of a silly tactic, but it works!
@kindred kernel This is nice! I would just be careful of keeping everything looking so perfectly separate (the line between the grass and the brush, between the brush and the sky). Perhaps if the colors are toned down just a bit more, it wouldn't seem like such a jump between each "section." With these adjustments, you're also losing color temperature variety in the shadows/highlights, particularly in the brown/orange layer. It makes it appear a bit unrealistic as each area is treated individually rather than as a whole. I would consider going back and playing with the opacity of each local adjustment for a slightly more refined result 🙂
@nova swan This looks nice! I'm glad you removed that sign. Only thing I notice is that the red leaves that replace it now don't seem like they'd naturally extend that far down in the scene. The water tower looks really lovely cleaned up, good job!
@short mica This reminds me of Gray Malin! https://www.graymalin.com/photography/themes/beach
Passion, Inspiration, Adventure & Lifestyle- the journey is more than just a photograph, it's a lifestyle.
@thorn geyser Really beautiful use of a gradient, almost gives it a sunset effect with that dramatic sky. I'd consider neutralizing what the gradient is doing on the bridge just so the tones aren't as cool or warm toned on either side of it. I think it might help make the scene pop as the bridge will be brought forward a bit more and it will look a tad more natural. Really love this effect though!

day 7 - second edit. Those purple centers in the blue were distracting. I have painted them out.
@left basin This looks nice! I love the warmth in the neutral tones and your handling of the cropping here.
@nova yew This looks pretty good! I am noticing a slight outline around the table which appears to be almost glowing, so I'd just be careful of pushing your local adjustments too extreme. There's also some green spillover in the shadows on the "garbage" bin here.
@young karma I like your decision to add black space to the image to make more room for text. On your day 6, really lovely blue tones in the shadows which helps the green areas pop!
@wispy compass I think in your edit the highlights become noticeably overexposed and distract from the couple! That left side of the image really distracts from the main scene. I wonder if there's a local adjustment you can do to brighten the scene up around the couple?
@granite carbon So cute! Love the subtle gradient on the dog image. And I agree about the centers of the flowers, good catch!
@hidden pendant This image is peak what I envision Antartica in my mind! I think your edit looks great to bring a cool vibrance to the scene. I'm just noticing a spot in the sky here that I'd consider removing now that your local adjustments are done.

@honest gorge that's a nice work but you might've play a bit more with hue and saturation on your model, maybe if you ad a shadow under her and if you manage to fit her size with the structure in the background it could be a bit better i think ;)

PSDCC #8 Local Adjustments
day 9 - picked this bench up with my camera in Italy, and set it down on a hill in California.
originals
@granite carbon It's kind of like Easter Island, but with cows! I think you did a nice job blending this into the ground here. Only thing I'd say is that the lighting seems a bit too pronounced in the highlight around the face compared to the top of the bench and with the flatness of the sky and hill.
@tacit condor Really dig the added blues in the midtones!
@honest gorge Another thing that might help blending the figure besides what @whole flame mentioned is warming up the highlights on the figure here. Especially around the face you can see they appear quite greyed out compared to the rest of the scene.
@fallow bough This is impressive, especially around the hair! I Am just noticing some residual outline around her arm. All the tones match perfectly to me, though.
@bold valley This looks solid! I think the skintones here are appearing just a touch light compared to the range you have in the shadows and outfit, so I'd consider either flattening them out as a whole or adding more of a range -- whichever will merge with the background a bit more seamlessly. You might also want to consider moving her to the right a bit -- around the hair there is the light coming in through the window which would technically make that area even more backlit and detailed with texture than you currently have it.
This was a girl looking at an ipad. Hand photo added. Smoke as well, all done in photoshop.
@short phoenix All of these are great! I love the blues and greens in contrast with the yellows on the duck faces. Maybe if you cooled down the yellows a bit they would pop even more and play up that color contrast 🙂 Love not only the removals but the additions on the tent image as well. I think the birds read a touch too big but fill the scene nicely.
@fast moth I dig the spotlight effect! The original would also be such a good photo to experiment on the black & white challenge with
@young karma I think this is really strong -- I love the warmth in the highlights mirrored by the warmth of the mountains. So much more picturesque than the original!
@rough furnace This looks good! Did you use brushes for the smoke? If so, I'd suggest playing around with a few variations so that the patterns of it aren't all so uniform. I do like the individual puff at the top close to the hand, though.
@thorn narwhal thanks. Yes I used a brush pack. Was fun trying to get it to look real but not easy!!

Day 8 - Local Adjustments_After. Photo taken at local zoo through glass and is a little soft.
Local Adjustments - Day 8
Day 9 - Compositing
@unkempt field. good job in compositing. young girl is matching da scene. 👍
@fathom moon Fantastic work! The colors match beautifully and the perspective looks natural. Just make sure to remove the border here. I would also brighten up the shadows over the entire image a bit - maybe even increase the vibrancy of the sky to match the saturation of the dress
A shadow below the dress could perhaps also increase the realism of the scene
Usually I would look for other shadows but there aren't any objects in the image which would cast a visible shadow, so we have to guess how it would look. In this case a tight core shadow right below the dress in combination with a softer outer shadow around the dress looks the best. The core shadow helps to ground the subject and the surrounding shadow simulates ambient occlusion
@unkempt field Ooooh I love the original photo, even if it is slightly soft 🙂 . For Day 8 of the challenge: when you are blurring the background, you are also blurring the subject. Therefore the colors bleed through and blend with the background scene resulting in a halo around the subject.
Here is how it would look without the halo
First you have to cut out everything that should remain in focus
Now, remove the subject using the clone brush or a Content Aware tool in Photoshop. Accuracy isn't really important here since we will blur the background
Using your favorite blur filter (I will use Lens Blur), apply the blur to the background
Now you can bring back the subject
@golden root Love it! I think you can bring it to the next level by adding some grass to the foreground. you can take any image with a similar perspective and warp it until it matches the hills
Perhaps you can also put this branch behind the person (otherwise it would be a really small tree :D)
Finally, the background looks very soft, I would recommend using a source file with a bigger resolution 🙂
@hot thicket Well done! Looks like somebody watched Paul's stream 😉 - I would also put some elements behind the skull to surround it and to fill some of the black void 😄
perhaps add some different floral elements 🙂
@fathom moon You've done a really good job on the light in your image but we still able to see a line witch come from your model ^^
maybe you can fix that ?
Hi- It's not blending as well as I would like. I used the tips from Terry on Friday , blur, dodge and burn , color overlay, added a shadow and put a gradient on the shadow. It still feels off to me. Any ideas?

@magic canyon amazing 😄 nc imagination !
Hello Everyone
Hello @tropic valley 🙂
@magic canyon haha nice! I love the super red sky, the colors look epic 😄 I think you could bring back some of the details in the shadows of the monster. Some of the light would reflect off the ground and illuminate the front too 🙂
and I would perhaps soften the shadow to match the soft lighting of the overall scene
@fallow bough Beautiful! I love how you have matched the brightness and saturation of the main subject with the background. I'm sure you already know this, but if you would like to add more of the sweet sweet bokeh, I would highly recommend checking out the Lens Blur filter
@ruby panther Well done, even paid attention to the reflection. I do think you could bring out the reflection even more.
I have warped and blurred the reflection using the smudge tool and the new and improved free transform tool
And I have applied a layer mask to mimic the irregularities of the tiled floor
hopefully resulting in a more or less convincing reflection
cool!

Hey @river frost welcome! If you have any questions you can use the #❓ask-a-question channel, we'll be happy to help you 🙂
Where can I find the starter files that Anna was talking about
When the first challenge will be updated @light wraith, you'll see two buttons, "Get started" with the starting files, and another one to watch the live / VOD
I'm ready! Here is my cover for this PS Daily Challenge with @grave frigate
Hey @river frost - same! Haha
@light wraith the starter files will be available each challenge day, I believe in the info tab during the live stream. See you in 1.5 hours!
@ruby panther That looks awesome!! I’m so glad you’re ready to create! See you soon!
Hi everyone. Looking forward to a next challenge!
Hello! This is my first time doing a challenge- Do I have to wait for the LIVE Video to start before the site allows me to unlock the challenge or do I have to wait a bit longer? Thanks! 😄
@royal oasis Click on the "creative-challenge" tab and click on the Live link about 1/2 hr before the start. Should take you there.
@grave frigate Thanks for your help
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Anna Daviscourt
@light wraith No problemo! I hope to see you in the chat!
Thank you!! @vital cloud

Challenge #1: Stained Mess LOL!
How do I get around that red border on the starter image?
im stuck like 7 minutes behind
Challenge #1: Selections
trying to figure out some stupid interface errors
Just turn off the layer in the starter file @buoyant ether
it's labeled bleed, as in the non-safe space in printing
I'm gonna draw some decorative lines on top cause I can't help myself!
Tomorrow I'm also gonna pop my design into a mock up template for behance, I'll show you guys how (hopefully, 25 minutes goes so fast!!)
In case anyone else has same issue as I just did. Don't right-click, save-as the image from Drop Box. You need to download via the direct download button. Direct download ensures you get the layers.
People are already posting?! Jeez! I gotta get on it!
@buoyant ether Thank you!!

Great work. Keep submitting your DCC's
Challenge#1 Completed!
Challenge #1 my years in ms/paint really helped me out here.
Okay, I had to step out at lunch. How can I find the video to go through what I missed?
First dcc!
Never mind, found it!
You can always go to the challenges page and click “watch video” for any live streams you missed https://www.behance.net/challenge/photoshop
Day 1
My 1st ever creation! Challenge #1
Ramzy inspiration
oh heck yeah!! all the colors!
hmm played with some blend modes
Tried This with graduated tints
hello all - here is my day 1, quickly done before the review ... great fun! got lost in the colours ... all inspired by ramzy.
challenge #1 - selections
just tried to follow Ramzy
This was fun! 😝
love the sparkly stars @grave frigate
Thanks guys! it was really fun! love it
does it look better without the drop shadows? (i didnt know how to add an edge to each circle)
@grave frigate are the sparkly stars able to be created with desktop?
@mellow horizon for sure! They would be much easier to draw with a tablet of some kind, but the brush tool is available in every iteration of photoshop!
@grave frigate Oh man, the illustrated elements give it such a great touch. Looks great!
@grave frigate - looks great!
Thanks, @bleak fossil and @fathom moon
Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt
how did you do that light in the centre/dark on the edges effect @grave frigate ?
I added a soft light layer and painted in a light yellow with a big soft brush. That plus the color adjustments creates a vignette kind of look!
Hello
This was my final result, i kind like it 🙂 ✨
One more... because I wanted to keep playing 😃 🎄
@grave frigate That is sooo pretty! I love the colors and the extra embellishments!
:/
Day #1
Just playing with it, loved the challenge
Oh the THINKS you can think.
day 1 sellections
@nbr It looks like a love child of the challenge, Temi's liquification technique and Ramzy's colors!! I love it, great work!
#psdailychallenge
@golden root looks like a Pink Floyd album cover lol
Nice!
loving these mock ups!!
Day 1 😃
Day 1 stained glass
That's beautiful @young karma 😍
This is closer to what I wanted
@scenic pine Yes! This looks like actual stained glass 😄 - I like how you have presented it, this could be a cool phone wallpaper! Well done 🙂
@prisma raven Great color theme ^^ . The glow is very smooth and I like how you mixed up the line thickness. The bigger circles help to tame the shape chaos and the light spot adds depth. Love it!
@young karma Great use of the layer effects. I think you could increase the softness of the drop shadows a bit and perhaps also brighten the image up so it looks like the light is really shining through the glass 🙂 - you could also add a border around the circles to simulate the glass panes
@pulsar sparrow great work as always 😄 - I would just also provide a close up shot so everyone can see the pattern up close 🙂
@scenic pine just seeing your previous version and I totally agree, the darker one looks so much better 😄
@pulsar sparrow oh sorry, I should probably look at the submissions in the correct order, just saw the close up shot 😅 - The heart is a great addition and the pattern is really cool! I think your lines are a bit jagged though. try playing around with the tolerance of the paint bucket tool to reduce the artifacts and sharp edges
I would love to also see some of the glow Anna showed on stream 🙂
@wet thistle woah, this is super cool 😄 - I really dig the butterfly shape with all the crazy and intricate detail 😮 - the color palette packs some punch, love the contrasting colors!
@scenic pine it looks even better! I can actually see the distorted texture!
@granite carbon This is just beautiful, the swirly shapes add form to an otherwise chaotic assortment of random shapes. I also like how the lines are slightly curved, it looks really neat 🙂 . The color choice is on point and the texture makes it almost look a bit like paper (which totally works!). And you can be proud of the added lighting, those are the finishing touches I really enjoy 😄 . I can't wait for your next submission
@robust grotto Nicely done! I would love to see some more pronounced lighting - it would really help those beautiful colors pop 🙂 . Also don't be afraid to add some shadows to your work, they are great for contrast
Challenge #1
Challenge#1
May have gone a bit far with the portrait lines and drop shadows. What do you think?
here is my entry for the Photoshop Daily Creative Challenge😀
i ended up with more of a gem look than stained glass but i like it
here is another one all just for PSDCC
Snowed
Spent way too much time playing with this, will have to do AI challenge in morning.
That's dope @night maple !
Yours looks like an acid trip and it's awesome @buoyant ether
buy this or die 😐
Here is my entry for Challenge #1 Selections. So many possibilities; it was fun!
Day 1:Challenge
Thank you for the challenge! I learned so many new hotkeys. 😄
Was just reading some of the comments/tips from mods and learned that apparently the paint bucket tool has a tolerance setting that can be adjusted... I should probably be paying better attention to all the options for these tools as we are learning them. 😳
@ruby panther Looking good Shawn! I really like the traditional illustrated feel to the the flowers and background. They fit together nicely.
@dim brook Oooh, I like the circle shape in the center. It could be really cool to separate the circle from the background somehow a bit more. Maybe in terms of lowering the saturation of one of them, or separating them in terms of value, temperature, etc. Might give it a more focused look. Nice work CeCi!
@edgy idol Looking good! I like the circle elements. They pull focus nicely into the center circle. I like how they have a separation in terms of color too, gives it a clear read while also being a bit subtle. The warm/cool color contrast works well too. Nicely done!
@mellow horizon Awesome DMarc! Welcome in, glad you could join us! Really nice work with all the different shapes. The overlapping circles are a nice visual element. I like the warmth of the gradient on top too. It does seem like it washes out the image a bit. Is that gradient effect on a normal layer? If so it might be worth trying a color dodge, screen, overlay, soft light, or hard light layer. Might preserve the contrast a bit more while giving you that nice warming/brightening effect. Looks good!
@trim orchid Ooh, really liking these shades of blue! The other colors are a nice effect too. I like how the whole color palette has a cohesive pastel type of look. Fits together nicely. I really like how you layered the circles too, gives it a nice asymmetry and focal point!
Thanks @bleak fossil
Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt
@floral gorge Hah, very nice! I really like how the lines and elements are broken up between the different circles. Definitely gives it a more interesting feel with the separation of those shapes. Nice work!
@undone tartan Awesome! Welcome on in, glad you could join us! I like how the smaller shapes seems to gradually get warmer in temperature, it makes for a nice contrast and focal point. This is a super small nitpick, but I noticed the biggest circle shape seems to have lines breaking past its borders whereas none of the other shapes do. It might help to trim those stray lines up to match the rest of the image and give it a cleaner and more cohesive feel. Really nice work Rae!
@fast moth Welcome back Camilo! This is looking really nice! I really like the strong yellow circle in the middle. It’s a strong enough color/temperature contrast to make for a nice focal point without being overpowering. I like the symmetry to this image. Well done!
@low whale Very cool Paul! Glad you could join us! I really like the shift you have in colors. The blues and purples look great, and the yellow circle adds a really strong contrasting focal point! It looks like you added a sort of gradient/glow of the top. Is this done on a normal layer? It might help to choose a blending mode that preserves the contrast of the dark lines a bit more. Maybe try out color dodge, screen, overlay, soft light, or hard light. Could help keep that contrast. Nicely done and welcome in!
@mellow horizon Oooh, love the colors on this second one (the Ramzy inspiration image). The work together really nicely. Almost gives me a bit of a 90s vibe, hah.
@nova swan Ooh, love the effect of this one! The blending modes give it a great feel. Kind of looks like a clear glass mosaic sphere/ball with a pink sphere inside it. Very cool!
@blazing quail The tints give this such a cool and interesting feel! Really awesome work! Gives it an even stronger stained glass effect. The colors and shapes work really well together too. Very nicely done Ant!
@hearty wharf Very nice Tan! Hah, it’s really easy to get lost when playing with colors. I like how the detail condenses closer together as the shapes get smaller and towards the center. Really helps direct the attention to the focal point. The color temperature shift is a nice effect as well!
@fathom moon Nice work on the shape/placement variation. The selections are looking solid. Looking good!
@pulsar walrus Hah, very cool. The clouds make me think of a snow cone or something with all those colors. I think you could even brighten up the truck a bit given how bright the rest of the scene seems to be. Looks cool!
@royal oasis Love all the shape variation going on in this image! It’s almost kind of a cool visual effect/illusion with all the lines and shapes, kind of disorienting, but in a visually interesting way. The center circle also seems a bit brighter than the rest which makes for a nice focal point. Looks good!
@wicked saddle I really like the added drop shadow! It gives it a whole different look and feel. It’s interesting how much that can change an image. Definitely adds some depth and clear separation between the shapes. These turned out nice!
@bleak fossil Thanks alot for the feedback! i'm starting to realize that this program has endless opportunities I just have to learn to unlock them. one challenge at the time 🙂

Hello, here is my attempt for the first challenge
This is my attempt at the challenge. I am very much a novice, as can be seen, and really want to learn this. Doing this to hopefully introduce myself to some of the features. I am really impressed by what I have seen here.
@bleak fossil thank you so much for feedback, sam!!

@ruby panther I loved the colors, great job!
@glacial path. Really thankful 🙏❤️💕 for your feedback and I will repair it 😊
I must have been craving hot chocolate, because I couldn't think of what else I wanted to create in my stained glass for yesterday's daily challenge. I had a lot of fun adding texture with some different brushes to make it look a little snowy!
#✂challenges-feedback Here is my submission for day no.1's challenge, create a stained glass effect. I used some shapes from the shape library and dressed them up a little. I also used the template provide in the download file to start, a bunch of pattern overlays, brushes, white magic etc. It kind of evolved on it's own, sort of has an "Alice in Wonderland" vibe happening.
@lusty turret How Beauty and the Beast! I'm jealous of your skills! It's lovely!
@neat flax I didn't even catch that it is somewhat Disney-inspired, but it makes sense! I love Disney and Beauty and the Beast! Thank you so much for the compliment 😊

Wow! These are incredible. I have some work to do!
@lusty turret @high wharf OMG !

PS DCC Selections
Challenge #2 V2
@young karma nice job
Challenge #2: Blend Modes Ok, so I didn't spend much time on the bow... only what I did while following along during the live stream, so I know it could be better. But can I just say how excited I am about this?! I have always been curious about how to draw in PS, and the little bit I tried was so flat... I love this! I can't wait to play more.
@edgy idol
This is awesome!! Haha, I love how the cat is looking at the bow! Is it your cat? Your boots looks awesome, I'm so glad it's encouraging you to play!
Bow***
Although I'm sure your boots are cool too
@plain sable amzing work
Guys I am so impressed by what you're putting out! Keep it up, play, have fun!!
Day 2
@grave frigate 😂👢 Thank you. And yes, that is one of my two cats. I lucked out in finding a pic after drawing the bow that worked like it did.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Anna Daviscourt
I haven't uploaded this to Behance yet, but here's my photoshop DCC for yesterday
@prisma crown woooooooooooow cool
Thank you!
hello friends Im Back with new Ideas a little bit late but here is my dream crystal; 😆
@prisma crown fantastic you took it to another level.
Day 2
Wow - I am so impressed by these! Great job, everyone!
@plain sable This is a great take on this challenge! Love how you used the sort of mosaic look for the tree. The color scheme works really well too. Also very nice job on the watercolor paper texture and mock up. Very cool!
@glossy lake Very cool! I like your use of all the different colors, and the image still have a nice cohesive feel to it. I think the warm gradient is a nice way to tie the colors together as well, but it might help to play around with some different blending modes to avoid the washed out effect, unless that's what you're going for, of course. Really nice job!
@hearty wharf Ooh, very nice! The sparkles are a great touch. Along with the purples and blues it definitely gives it a winter feeling. Nice work!
thank you sam!! @bleak fossil
Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt
@unkempt field Looking good! Nice use color and shape variation. One thing I noticed was the right edge of the bigger circle there seems to be a shaved off edge of the circle and lines breaking past the shape. It might help to clean those up to give the whole thing a clean unified look. Looks good!
@deep mango Hah, I like it! The gradients within the shapes and variation between the yellows and browns really add to that stained glass effect. Looking good!
@tacit condor Really cool use of color here! I like how each circle has a lot of different colors going on within it but still has a very unified feel. The orange/yellow ball makes for a nice focal point too. Nicely done!
@edgy idol Aw, cute. I like how the cat seems to be focused on the bow, that works well, hah. The bow has some great hand drawn style too. I like the texture! Using a multiply layer for shadows is definitely a quick and easy way to get some nice depth. Photoshop has some great tools for that kind of thing. Nice work!
@limpid cape You got some really interesting colors and gradients going on here! The color palette gives it a unique feel for sure. Nice job!
PS DCC Blend Modes #2
Thanks @bleak fossil I am so excited to play with this technique, its like all of a sudden so much is making more sense in the whole drawing with PS world for me

@prisma crown WOAH! That's so incredible! 👏🏼
@keen granite Really interesting design and use of the circle shapes. It made me think of a peacock tail. I really like the background with the caustic lighting effect, looks really nice!
@high wharf Really interesting take on this challenge! I definitely get that sort of Alice in Wonderland vibe from this. Really great work getting that sense of form and lighting on the foreground objects. Creates some really nice depth too!
@young karma Now your kitty really look like it is staring at the bow! I can just feel the anticipation of the pounce coming.
Hello,
I tried doing something different.
Would love to get feedback on how it can be improved in any way.
doing this with a trackpad on a laptop made me realise what i want for Christmas... a wacom! great challenge, learned a heap!
Thanks @bleak fossil

Here's the update to Day 1 Challenge
Day 1 Challenge. Couldn't get the gradiant to work
@dusty pond I love the colors you generated
#✂challenges-feedback Image was retrieved from Pexels using the PS extension. Yorkies are my favorite. I took a tip from another live feed I saw yesterday and added some color, then I wanted to give the dog something to look at. So I added the candy cane, then some lights, then some snow....and after all this I had completely forgotten the bow...lol. So It was definitely last, but it's there! 🙂
Scout
hello all - no puppy, but a very elaborate bow ...
@dusty pond wrong server 😉 Please post them to the Ai Discord 🙂
Day 1 Some 3D Effects
Was late to the party but wanted to try this. Brushed a shadow, changed the lighting of the bow. . . may use different tones for the snowman image but thought it was a cute picture.
Snow for A gift
@fleet pecan That is so creative!!
@mellow horizon Holy heck, that fabric painting finesse! I love it! One thing I'd touch up is the top on the ribbon line gets cut off right before the edge of the page, I'd continue it all the way. Great work!!
@hearty wharf that is the most over the top bow I've ever seen- I love it! And you've got a kid, so that makes up the cute factor that you lack in dog. 😆
aahw, thanks so much @grave frigate - that bow took on it's own life ... the kid might look cute from far away, but dogs are much easier!!! 😄
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Anna Daviscourt
@buoyant ether SCOUT!! 😍Scout is too good for this world!!! I love that you're using foliage, that'll come in handy for some challenges next week!
@fleet pecan Ooooh, I love how you took the idea and went in a really different direction 🙂 . To improve the overall image you could perhaps brighten up the highlights a bit (including the white snowball and the bow). Thank you for submitting 😄
Gave +1 Creative Carma to Ricardo Rojas
@signal sinew what a great style! I love the saturated colors and the realistic shapes. I would love to see a glow behind the glass panes similar to this
#✂challenges-feedback @grave frigate here is my revised version of day no.1's challenge. I went full on with the Alice theme after getting that vibe from my first version. I re-positioned some things, changed the title and some lighting. I really want to add a little mushroom behind the bottom left corner grass, gonna draw one up to import in Adobe Capture later before it goes up onto my Behance.
Thanks @glacial path I will definitely try that.
Gave +1 Creative Carma to evil
@signal sinew awesome! If that's too much work, you can work with just one big glow to simulate the sun
@high wharf I love this!! And you've gotta have mushrooms in wonderland, that's gonna look so cool. One thing I would suggest is using a selective color adjustment layer to add a little bit of color to the blacks and whites. I think it could be nice to add a very subtle cool tone to the shadows and a subtle warm here to the light. Also, the key in the left is getting a little too close to the edge of the canvas, so I would shorten it a bit. Excellent work and thanks for posting!!
