@hard halo Really interesting smudge effect on the National Park image! Definitely makes you realize how much the texture and color can set a mood. The current texture almost looks a little dangerous or scary. I wonder if a smooth smudge texture would gives a more calm feeling. Though that might be the color giving off that feeling as well. Really cool Tawn, nice work!

#

@serene kettle Oh man, that looks great now! The read is much more clear, nice work

#

@shrewd steeple Nice work! I think doing these challenges more than once really helps solidify the information and gives you some room to explore. The think the city lights images work well for this challenge, it definitely mirrors the text in a cool way! I really like what you did with the masking of the text, but I feel like you could push it even further. It's not as clear at first glance as it could be, and almost reads as a tangent when zoomed out rather than a strong overlap. I think if you moved the text down a couple notches so the overlap is more obvious it might strengthen the effect. Looking good!

#

@hexed kayak Looking good, I think the radial blur effect is definitely a cool way to draw attention into the face/focal point of the image. I think the effect could be strong if that blur effect extended all the way to the edges of the image, the bottom part of the shirt and hair don't seem to be affected which makes the image read a little odd. I also think the masking of the effect could be a little softer and more gradual, currently there's a really harsh shift in the effect around the left side of the face and hair. A large soft round brush while masking should do the trick. Nice work!

#

@eternal onyx Heya Max, very nice! Great to see you tackling multiple images. I really like the colors in both of them. One suggestion for each would be that the line above the "E" in Behance could be darkened down slightly, it's currently the highest point of contrast in the image, and I think the "hello" text in your second image could be brightened up a touch to make it pop out just a bit more. Well done, these look good!

hexed kayak
#

Thanks so much SamPetersonArt.

bleak fossil
#

@uncut shell Love that text! The way it's being top lit gives the whole image a really great mood. Makes me think of a movie. Really cool effect. I like the way you masked the image as well, gives it some nice depth. The only thing I notice that seems off is the lack of spacing between the "H" and the "I". They kind of form together, and along with the tower on the building become kind of visually confusing. I'd try increasing the spacing between the letters, using a slightly thinner stroke, or maybe a little of both. Other than that it looks really solid!

@candid root it looks like the colors are limited to a lower than usual number or maybe you have exported it and set the quality too low

#

@forest aspen very nice! The orange and red tones bring so much warmth into the image. The text could very well be a movie title! All the colors and how they mix, it is just great! I would just move the text down a bit so it's not touching the horizon line

#

@jolly quest I think you did a great job with the white stroke and the stylized blushies. You could improve your submission by increasing the kylo ren percentage in the lower third of the image. I like how you're paying attention to even the small details - like adding "FAB" and a heart.

#

@bronze bluff cool shot! I think you can enhance the effect of the image by brightening up the shadows. It looks like some of the shadows are pure black. I think you could also try out more vivid colors on the shirt - just something to contrast the earthy tones in the background

@stark kayak Wow, great idea and nice execution of the effect! The color scheme works really well with this idea too. The only change I think that could maybe help would be to make the smoky universe effect get softer as it gets further away from the mouth of the bottle. Kind of like how smoke dissipates more and more the further it gets from the source. Here's a really quick example. It also softens the hard contrasting line made between the smoke in the sky. Just a thought! Nice work 😄

SamPetersonArt I like both versions of tanmoy_xvii's work, but I really like the gif. I think it would be really cool if the edges were moving like the smoke edges keep changing like smoke from a smokestack.

@edgy frost That is fantastic! I love the pop of yellow you used on the book and watch. Maybe incorporate similar types of highlights to add that same defining texture feel to the pants?

void ermine
#

@tribal oak Cool image. To be honest though, I liked your first one (sorry...) I think in your original, the background colour blended in with the girls so that their faces really stood out. And the cool effect you did with the spacey 80's 90's vibe really worked. Just my two cents... Both super cool though!

#

Was more contrast with faces against the coloured bkg. I think

@void ermine Thank You! I'm soo avoiding actual work... thought I would play for a few minutes and it ended up being an hour... Its actually a disco ball disco fever sort of image.... It honestly took me longer to find a picture I wanted to use than to do the work! That is by no means a brag, it took me hours to find something I was happy to use...😂😬

bleak fossil
#

@full hound Very cool! Maybe a subtle rim light effect on the girl from the window lighting could help her read ever so slightly better? Nice work!

#

@shrewd steeple Ooh, very nice! This technique can have some really cool results. It could be a really cool idea to do the shoes in the same style since they have the same colors. Might unify the effect throughout the image in a cool way. The effect in the eyes almost seems a bit out of place, like they're glowing white, but when you look closely it's just a pattern. The shoes might be a better way to repeat that element. Though it depends what you're going for. Nice work!

#

@coral stone Looks good! I like your use of the pattern for this one. It almost acts an in between element between the realistic person, and the cartoony lines. Makes me think of Mary Poppins or something when the world starts turning all cartoony. Well done 👍

coral stone
#

Thanks @bleak fossil 😃

nimble shardBOT
#

Gave +1 Creative Carma to SamPetersonArt

bleak fossil
#

@tribal oak It definitely gives it a distinct eye-catching effect, but I think it's a cool one. It almost makes me think of a lot of their clothing designs you saw in the 90s. it actually balances out fairly well with the bold colors in the rest of the image. Very cool!

#

@valid crow Those colors works so well with the rest of the image. The way you handled the text makes it look really natural in that setting. Very nice job! The only suggestion I might have would be to maybe tighten the crop towards the bottom a little. All that white space of the building doesn't really seem to be adding to the image. Nice work!

#

@wispy compass looking good! these kinds of challenges can definitely be difficult with a mouse, but luckily the pen tool gives you a lot of control with adjustments even with just a mouse. For this particular challenge I think an image that's a little bit more zoomed out might work better. That way you can get an entire shape within the image to have the more cartoony effect without it getting cut off. Compositionally it may look a bit more natural.

#

@viral veldt Nice work, it's always great to see multiple iterations of a design! I think I like the middle one the best, the effect stands out more and appears a bit more intentional by making the effect the focal point. Very cool

cold cedar
#

@past canopy Delightful!

bleak fossil
#

@graceful heron Very interesting! Did you use the smudge tool for her shirt? One suggestion would be to mask out the hair in a way that looks more natural with softer edges. I think Kathleen demonstrated this technique a bit on the stream today with her image. Nice work Duane!

#

@blissful wolf Looking solid! I really like how your colors in the text are picking up the same lighting  that the background has. this much quality in the letters really fits with the image as well. I wonder if brightening up the entire text would help it pop just a little bit better. I like the overall darker feel of it but maybe just a bit would help. Well done :D

#

@hexed kayak Great to see more challenges from you! Did you cut out the hair from the background? It could be cool to see you trace the hair with the pen tool and replace it with a fill color in lines for that cartoony effect that people are using for the clothing. It might be interesting to see that with hair. If you are looking for an effective way to mask out the hair I recently found this video which helped me a lot. Keep it up, looking good!

#

@spark wharf Very nice Michele! I'd be curious to hear what edits you did to this. The colors look a little richer in the second image, and I think the grayscale image has a really cool effect to it as well. I think with photo retouching a lot of the time you don't want the effects to be too drastic or noticeable, so that's good. I also see a little blurring of the background which is a great way to draw attention into the face. I wonder if a simple vignette would help enhance the focal point of the face as well by pushing the lighter values towards the center. Looks good!

#

@short mica Nice work! It's cool to see the cartoon and contrast with the realistic images with this technique. it's a small suggestion but it might be a nice effect to use a thinner line weight with the yellow line inside the shape and let the contour line around the outside be a bit thicker. It may balance the look a little bit more in terms of focal point. Looks cool, like the purple patterns on the inside of the shirt!

#

@young karma Ooh, very cool! I like the way the text almost looks like black sand from a beach or something like that, kind of has a cool thematic fit. When recreating letters with that effect I think you just have to be very conscious of all the settings that you're using, as well as the brush type, size, and settings. It seems like any of those things being tweaked can change the look a decent amount. It looks really good it has a great read and a great aesthetic. I still feel like the text could maybe be brought up just a bit more to not really be touching on the rocks around it where the X is, but it definitely has a much clearer clear read now, great work!

bleak fossil
#

@pine cypress Wow, really great job! Your initial retouching changes really enhance the image while still being subtle. The final product with the lens looks great. I especially love how you blurred the outside of the image to really draw focus into the face, it works extremely well. Also just great job on your composite in general. The only tiny tiny nitpick is on the underside of the thumb the edge just under the nail looks a little unusually sharp, but again this is a tiny nitpick. Fantastic job!

Hey @whole parcel I like the classic color theme 😄 The fonts really work well together, maybe you can just increase the contrast here - right now it is pretty tough to read. I like the halftone pattern as an overlay. It reminds me of all the old movie posters and comics 😃

#

I think you can scale this image up, so it matches the content below

glacial path
#

@novel escarp I love how colorful and fun your design is! Just align these elements vertically

#

and I would use the same sharp drop shadow style as you did for the title

#

finally, I would center the paw logo

#

@sand current Aaah, I like how you're playing with the tracking of the font! The title "NUCLEIC ACIDS" looks a bit crammed though. usually you don't want touching letters. I think you can also try out different colors instead of the red. how about a shade of purple?

#

@cold cedar Yeeees, thanks for trying out a different layout. It is super clean and I like how you have picked the accent color from the image - they all harmonize!

#

@blissful badge Very clean, I like it! Just see if you can get rid of the gray border here. Maybe you can get rid of it and put some text in there instead

#

@whole parcel haha this is awesome 😄 Yes, the shadows are one giveaway that you weren't really there. also the saturation - the background is super saturated (look at the leaves and the sky) while you two are normally saturated. I would suggest bringing down the saturation of the background, since saturating skin tones looks off most of the time. Also the lighting of the background is quite harsh, there are no clouds to soften the light. you would expect to also have direct light on the subject.

magic jacinth
#

I can't open the template file 😦 I think my photoshop is too old (CS6)

glacial path
#

@whole parcel You could try and paint some lights and shadows in (which will be quite difficult) or you can go for a background with softer lighting

#

@magic jacinth hm... yes - CS6 is probably too old to open the files. I highly recommend updating (you don't have to subscribe to the entire creative cloud) to make use of all the features that have been implemented in the past 7 years. If you can't upgrade you'll unfortunately have to recreate the template in your Version of Photoshop as we don't work with PS CS6 anymore 😕

@fringe thicket wow that look so cool

young karma
#

@fast belfry wow, I love how the water is coming out of the moon. Good job ! Perhaps if you blur the rocks above (not too much), they will recede and give more depth to this image. And perhaps, it can be good to add some interest in the sky too (rainbow, clouds, stars).
The wolf itself is shadowed but it is placed on a rock where the light is falling it.s a little weird. You can add an exposure ajustement layer to lighten it so the lighting of the wolf match the lighting of where it stands. Does this makes sense to you ?

fast belfry
#

@young karma thank you so much for your detailed feedback 😃 . And yes I had some problems with the wolf, I thought that wolf had to be shadowed because the light is coming from behind the wolf so the front of the wolf is light and the back is dark... bleak fossil
#

@fast belfry Very cool, great idea! Love what you did with the moon and the added ground plane. I think @young karma makes a great point. Essentially I believe what Laurence is referring to is a sense of atmospheric perspective, where the contrast of images far away (usually the shadows) are lightened. This really allows the foreground to be a stronger focal point and have more dominant contrast. I think that would really help the moon and waterfall not compete so much with the background behind it. Here's two great example of atmospheric perspective by artists I love. Albert Bierstadt and Fenghua Zhong. You can see how the shadows in the forms far away get lighter and have less contrast overall, adding to a really powerful sense of depth. (I turned them greyscale to show just the values)

#

@young karma Nice work Lieve! These challenges are definitely great practice to build up that skill set a little each day. One suggestion would be to soften the transition between the shirt and the hair. I believe Kathleen demonstrated this technique in the stream. Really just having a softer edge using a soft round brush could help make that appear more natural. Good job 😄

#

@lucid quartz Looks good! I feel like the colors of the shirt work well with the rest of the image. Nice work! One small thing I think could add to it would be to mask out the part of the shirt that the leaf would be covering over her shoulder on the left side. Might just add that much more believability.

@young karma Looks solid, really liking the consistent color scheme you have going on. I think it might work a little better if the main figure in the background image wasn’t being overlapped by the image near the top right. It creates an odd tangent currently, and it would probably strengthen the composition to let that figure become the focal point of that background image. Nice work!

#

@royal niche Very nice, cool to see someone doing a fully illustrated image like this! I'd recommend using a darker brown color for the shadows of the skin rather than black. Try saving the black for the darkest areas like around the eyes and the nostrils, and choosing a darker brown shade for the shadows instead should give it a more natural look. Nice work!

@wide cave Very cool, almost looks like it's printed on newsprint. Simple and effective color scheme. Nice job!

#

@urban berry Looking good Cindy! The more subdued and simple color scheme really fits the outdorr/camping theme well. Really liking that dotted print texture you have as well. Well done :D
Your day 3 challenge looks great as well! Only suggestion might be that using a brush with a 100% opacity might be a bit better to get that solid graphic look.

#

@void ermine I like it! I like the textures and colors you have going, feels like a cohesive design overall. I think the way you repeated the photos of the stop light and sign over the illustrated background works well by balancing out those elements across the image. Nice work with the drop shadows too! I feel like perhaps the text could be a bit bigger or possibly even a different color? Though that might just be personal preference.

bleak fossil
#

@young karma Looks great! I really like the sizing of the graphic The mock-up looks really solid too, looks natural applied to that image. As far as the distressing effect goes I think it can be a nice effect to use a fairly large textured brush like Kathleen did for general fading in addition to the smaller scratchy texture you have. I think often times with clothing we see more of the general fade, and see more of the thin scratch lines with hard surfaces like worn metal. Either way, looks good, nice work Lani!

@coral stone That's awesome, great to see you challenging yourself to do a hand drawn design, I think it works well for this challenge. One small note is the browns you used look a bit saturated to me. Usually the browns in vintage clothes are pretty desaturated, but the dirt splatter also looks a bit bright/saturated to me. Maybe toning that down just a touch could help. I think the dirt also might look more natural if the bottom area had some more concentrated general dirt and dust. The current splatter looks like if there was a single quick burst of dirt shot up, but I think if he was out running around in the dirt and mud there would be a lighter overall coat/tint of dirt near the bottom. Kind of like this picture. Great work as always Valdair

I do feel like the logo seems like it’s not quite in perspective. Looks solid, really cool texture too!

@ashen rapids nice! I love the black inking, looks super cool. @coral stone Nice! Looks good. I think if you're going for that vintage look it could be a good look to add a little more of a less perfect off-white/cream color for the shirt (might also make it look more in line with the dirt since the rest of the shirt looks pristine white and clean) and maybe distress the text a bit since right now it looks a little too perfect. @graceful heron Hah, well done, I like it! It’s like he’s saying “Well this is just PERFECT!” 😄 I think a couple of easy adjustments to really sell this image would be a photo filter over the figure in the front to match the colors better, and using a levels adjustment or multiply layer to darken him down to make him fit in more with the lighting of the scene. Here’s a quick example (though you probably don't have to go quite as dark as I did). Logo looks good!

#

@cinder vesselThe logo looks great! The distressed texture looks believable and natural, and I think the green is a nice choice for a camping shirt. The only thing I would do (if you want to go for that vintage shirt look) is to maybe make the shirt more of a cream color, currently it looks perfectly white like a brand new t-shirt. This could be done by quick selecting the shirt and maybe giving it a slightly darker and slightly more yellow tint. This could also probably be done with a photo filter. Nice work!

timid pasture
#

Front and back... I used a template from Adobe Stock for the shirt. I might do another one tonight, and maybe even set one of these up as a texture file for a 3D T-shirt prop in Poser and/or DAZ - If I have time

bleak fossil
#

@copper parrot Really nice work on the masking! You did a good job making it look like the arms overlap it. I feel like this might not be the best image to show off a shirt design just because the sides of it are obscured, and it makes it a little difficult to see what the design is. It might be nice to see the design on its own as well. It also might look a little bit more natural in the photo if you decrease the saturation ever so slightly, currently the blue looks a little too saturated to fit in with the rest of the image. Good job!

#

@north arrow Hah, very cool, always good to just have fun with the process. I think it might help the text to keep all the colors to a brighter value, the red and yellow read quite well but the blue is significantly darker, and it becomes a little difficult to see the shapes clearly, I think partially due to the dark drop shadow behind it. I also think an easy adjustment to make the pineapple and other objects on the right side fit in with the rest of the image better would be to do a simple photo filter overlay over those objects. Maybe something with a bluish green tint. Nice work Mikki!

@upbeat laurel Very well done! I really love the photo you chose, it fits the theme of this challenge very well. The off-white color of the shirt really fits it as well. #

@magic jacinth Ooh, love the design. As a lover of pancakes I appreciate this theme, hah. it's great to see people incorporating hand-drawn designs into these challenges. Looks great! The only thing that looks slightly off to me is that the shirt has a light side where the sun is hitting it on the top, and gets a bit more in shadow towards the bottom of the logo. I wonder if placing the logo on a multiply layer and possibly adjusting the opacity would give it a slightly more natural look. So that way the top part of the logo is a little bit lighter than the bottom part and really looks like it's on the shirt. Very well done!

past canopy
bleak fossil
#

@short mica What do you not like about the color fill? It looks pretty solid to me! The only thing I'd say, which is a bit of a nitpick, is that maybe the opacity on the logo could be reduced ever-so-slightly, to just make it a little bit less contrasty. The scene almost has a sort of vintage filter over it, and I think lessening the contrast on the shirt just a tiny bit might make it look more natural. I also think Tim had some great advice for the positioning of the logo. Great image for this challenge though, the colors work really well for that feel. Looking good 😄

#

@fast moth Very cool! Really liking the design! I wonder if a slightly off white/yellow tint or even really light brown tone could push the vintage feel and maybe separate it from the background a bit more. Though that’s really just personal preference. Nice work!

#

@high mesa Looking really solid! The logo fits in the photo very well. Really cool designed too. If you want to push the distressed look more I think getting the edges of the square a little bit could make it look pretty natural, those are often the places you see a lot of the wear.

#

@past canopy Love that Vader design! Those colors in that font work really well together. I feel like I've been saying this a lot for this challenge but I think making the white T-shirt a sort of off-white cream color, or even a slight tint of brown to it might give it a more vintage look. The current t-shirt looks a little too pristine in how white it is to give off that vintage feel. Awesome to see you doing multiple designs, well done!

#

@timid pasture Nice Rod! Always great to see what you're coming up with. The mock-ups look really solid. it could be cool to see you adding some of those textured distressed effects to the logos. To give it a little bit more of that natural worn look. That would be a really cool idea to apply it to some 3D models. Nice work Rod!

#

@fallow bough Nice work as usual Ken! Really nailed this image. The only tiny nitpick I can really think of is that left part of the logo's face that's right next to the deep shadow near the bottle looks a bit unnaturally sharp and bright. The image seems like it has an extremely deep shadow in that area and the edge of the logo also seem sharper than anything else in the photo in that area. Either softening up the edge, or darkening down the edge ever so slightly, or a little bit of both could possibly help it look more natural. Of course this is just if I'm really looking for anything that could possibly improved, it looks great as is and you did a really nice job on this challenge!

#

@bold valley Great job Ralph! Hah, love the logo. My only suggestion would be that the bottom left corner of the cat logo looks a bit blurrier and out of place with the rest of the logo that has pretty crisp edges. Maybe tightening that up a bit would make it look a little bit more cohesive. Very nice work 😄

#

@fast barn Looking good! You logo has a really cool look and definitely seems to fit in with the bold look of the color of the shirt. The colors on your Day 4 challenge look really solid as well. Nice work!

@bleak fossil this is where I have ended up. I am pretty happy with the colours as you suggested and ideas. I had a lot of issues doing a Colour Replace on the red sleeves as I kept getting shades of brown vs an actual colour. This was using [ image -- adjustments -- replace colour ]. #

@west ferry Oh wow! Super cool, attack of the giant kitty. Great to see you challenging yourself with this one. Some minor thoughts, I think you could perhaps decrease the value contrast on the cat, or at least some of the edges, to indicate some light from the environment or atmospheric perspective, and I also think you could take that area of bright sky and put it behind the cat for a stronger focal point. You also might want to be careful with the fire bits everywhere as it can sometimes scatter the focal point with all those bright little areas. Here's a quick paint-over to show some of what I mean. Also it might help to add a color pass over the whole thing to unify all the elements. Love this, great work :D
Edit: Hard to describe some of these ideas, so I attached a quick paint over

#

@magic jacinth Ooh, great job! Really like the changes you made. It’d be interesting to see a gradient with that color grading from top to bottom. Meaning have the color gradient fade off slightly as it goes upwards so some of the original shows through. Could give it a nice balance between warm and cool colors. This is a really solid image, great work!
Edit: Actually you made the images the same size so it was easy to do a quick edit to show what I mean.

#

@bleak fossil Thanks for the feedback. those were some of the things i was trying to learn to add to the image. I wasn't sure how to add reflective colour to the cat from the environment. Great points! thanks

bleak fossil
#

@west ferry No problem! I think a lot of times when you're going for a sense of scale adding some atmospheric perspective can really help. Basically meaning how contrast and shadows get lighter as you move further way. I posted this the other day but it's a great example of atmospheric perspective in two paintings I really love. By Albert Bierstadt and Fenghua Zhong.

#

@past canopy This is perfect! Love what you did with the masking in the text. That little bit of orange in the drop shadow also makes a nice contrast against the cool colors of the rest of the image.Perhaps darkening it down ever so slightly might give it a slightly better read? Cool kind of retro feel with the style too. Very solid work!

#

@short mica Looks great J Lewis, really liking the colors! Perhaps the word "camp" could be brightened up a touch for a better read and contrast? You also have a bit of an odd tangent going on with the "H" in Photoshop and the two people down below. Maybe a solution would be to move the text up a bit, possibly even extending the canvas upwards a bit and extending the sky along with it to allow more room for the text? Just a thought. Nice work, some really great cool/warm color contrast going on!

#

@blissful wolf Love it! That’s a really cool direction to take this challenge, very nice! The lighting and color grading on this image works really well. The only thing is without zooming in close the small text at the top and bottom is very difficult to read at a glance. Though I can see how this is tricky with this image, namely the fire at the bottom. I think the top text would read well as being totally white, but the bottom one might be a bit more difficult. Either way, looks really solid!

Ok. Thanks for those who gave me some suggestions earlier, but I've completely abandoned it. I looked at it and thought... what was I thinking. So take 2...

@whole parcel Cool design! I think making the text white might give it a stronger read at a glance since the text is kind of small, and might also look good by mirroring the white space inside the flames. Nice work!

@blissful wolf Maybe something like this? I used a multiply later to darken down the area behind the text (Kind of messy but hopefully you get the point)

@dawn mountain I like the colors! Kinda 80s pink and purple but it works with Paris I think and that font. I’m not a fan of the hand written looking font for this. I don’t think the ee so close together is great. Should be another similar font without that quirk. Unless you like it. Just my thoughts

@dawn mountain I agree with @void ermine about the color scheme. I really like it. And I like the wide-angle image of the Eiffel Tower, the distortion is sweet. Somehow the curve on the text doesn't work for me though. Maybe because the smaller script is straight? Or because of how it abuts the top of the tower? I am not sure, and I know this is not the best criticism.

#

@vagrant sorrel The green of the image looks like night vision cameras. Or how night vision looks in movies. And the mountain/ridge looks appropriately barren. Looks like a place for the Baudelaire orphans to go to summer camp. 😊

Hi @fiery trail If you are looking for a vintage look, I would desaturate. But that's a choice. I enjoy this image the way it is, it's a good photo, just a more modern style. Some things to consider: The non bent type struggles against the clouds, especially the underneath part "dusk til dawn." You might try a different color for that text. I'd also suggest a bit more space between CAMP and Photoshop; the M and the P in camp almost collide with the O in Photoshop.

#

@void ermine Very cool, really liking that text effect, almost looks like we're looking through glass or something. I think all the text could have a better read though if they were brightened up. The smaller text is small enough that it might read better if it was either bigger or brighter, or possibly both. And the Planet Earth text looks really cool, but is a bit hard to read at a glance. If you brightened it up overall it would read better, and might almost look like glass or something that's catching a bit of light. Could be a cool look. Nice work Jon!

#

@urban berry Love it! Love the balance between the red and blues tones in the image. Though I feel like the text is hugging the bottom a bit tight, might help to move it up a couple notches. Always impressed by your challenges Cindy, keep it up!

bleak fossil
#

@fiery trail The saturation is a little intense on the P and H in Photoshop, though might be cool to see that mirrored in some of the other letters, or just toned down a bit. I think the saturation of the rest of the image has a really cool look, I like it. Though I think the main text might read better if the center was darkened down. I like how it's transparent, but maybe if it had a multiply layer effect or something that would work a bit better. Also perhaps a subtle drop shadow on the smallest text would help it read against the clouds towards the bottom a bit better. Nice work!

#

@young karma Looking good! Liking those colors. I think "Raleigh" might read better if the R-A-L has some of that lighter pink like the rest of the letters. Currently it's dark letters against a dark background which makes it a bit tough to read. Really love the look of all the city lights, nice work 😄

@cyan badge wow! Love the colors you used with the t-shirt design! As far as I can see the warping of the logo matches the lines on the shirt perfectly! 😍
I really like what you did with the poster, the washed out effect with the background color coming through the header and photos and other text, although I think for readability (is that a proper English word?) it World be better if you tune it a bit down 👍

Thanks for asking @slender slate . Here is the explanation of how I did the "The Hague" text:
First I typed the text using Acier BAT as a font.
I then used the Text Warp - type "Arc Upper", settings: Bend +50%, Horizontal Distortion +40%
Then I clipped an image of the city with a golden/yellow sky to this text layer
I set the following layer styles: a stroke of 5 pixels with color blue, then an additional stroke of 10 pixels color white and also a drop shadow with the same blue color as the stroke (angle 35, distance 30, spread 28, size 9)
I duplicated the text layer, removed the layer styles and then added a mask like Kathleen showed ([ctrl] + click on thumbnail in layers panel to select all text, then from the menu Select - Modify - Contract 6px, click mask button at the bottom in layers panel).
Then finally I replaced the clipped image with another one from the Hague. The building of the Peace Palace. For this I set the clipped image layer to the blendmode Divide. I think that was it 😃

@slender slate Cool design, I think you did a good job! I think there's a few things you could tweak though. By grouping the ' greetings from camp 2019' together, it looks good (I like that arrangement) but it reads as a separate sentence from the word 'photoshop'. I like the colours and typeface of photoshop but I think the three layers maybe too much, or maybe just move them closer together ? Not sure what to do there but it looks a bit too much to my eyes. I like the quiet 'learn play share' but the colour could maybe be balanced out with more of that colour in the top left, or change the colour so it isn't such a focal point (it's a bit bright to me). Maybe add more of that colour in the top left with text, or brighten one/some of those streaks of light ? Very cool design!

@umbral laurel - Like what you have done here, did you try keeping the text in the image the same white as the top? Just wondering if it would help to make it more punchy?
