#Pistol Mags Are Uncomfortable

Heyo! I thought I would bring up that I'm happy to see the game somehow running smoother after the launch. Shockingly smooth.
Though the one thing I can confidently say isn't smooth right now is holding pistol mags.
Very awkward to hold, and very awkward to swap between hands. Sometimes when loading a new mag, I have to shove my controller into the other one to get the mag to fully seat itself. I dunno why the pistol mags were changed this way, but it should definitely be looked at again.

I use the Index controllers, so as I stated, the way you have to hold the mags can be awkward. Especially when you need to swap what hand its in on occasion.

Theres a toggle under gameplay (i think) to turn it off

#

But yeah the feature needs some refinement, it feels good if you do it perfectly, but feels really jank if you're just a few degrees off on your controller angle

I’ve also noticed that a lot of the time if I’m holding a mag and eject the other into my hand to hold two, when I put the new mag in, it launches the other mag into the ground at Mach Jesus

I slide my hand by my other controller and it works fine. Takes a little getting used to, but I do like it now I am

I just line it up and when I'm halfway in I just slide my hand around the remote

#

Idk what the issue is

I've got used to it now, once you get the mag first inserted after that its pretty forgiving you can move your hand outwards a bit just so long as you slap it upwards it'll go in just fine. I do notice it clips out the side of the magwell a bit, but the radius ensures it locks in all the same 😄

Another person with index controllers here, I actually rather like the new reload and holding positions on pistols specifically! On the AK platform it is really bad sometimes though, definitely needs some work either way.

Less length but more angle

#

It's weird

I mean, glad to know others are aware. But I dunno what the fix is. It'd be cool to see a fix so that maybe reloading pistols with the new grip is better

They did fix one problem I pointed out with Grenades. Funny to see that get fixed before the long standing issues though lol

# rugged elm The issue is that’s not what hands would do. Much prefer a little assistants rig...

Yeah pretty much my thought as well.

Like I also discussed in another thread, visually it looks better than the old system, functionally it feels lesser.

I appreciate the idea but not the way it was implemented. I believe they should have went all in no assist at all. If you aim to make reloads more realistic, make me do the right move and if I don't allow me to fail. I didn't like that I had to overexagerate the movement (as shown in the clips in the link) to get the same result I had with the old system.

It's a good thing they made it an option, I'm sticking to the old way until they decide to rework it. I'm not interested in interacting with it as it is.

for me personally (index) i insert the mag normally most of the way until my hands almost touch then make a J shape to push the mag in the rest of the way

i agree it sucks. was just offering my workaround

Reloading pistols also sucks on quest 3

#

The controllers collide before the magazine is loaded

#

The new grip pose is also pretty uncomfortable

vernal gyro
#

I think the pose is fine

#

But the game wasn't built for the manual inserts

#

There's a delay between actions

#

The jank with trying to insert a mag while moving is exaggerated

#

The hand position is off making it harder

Yeah, gonna have to turn this setting off cause mag palming is almost unbearably jank. It tends to throw the old mag I just pulled out back into the weapon.

The controller collide because the way the mechanic is implemented the game moves your hand to better fit with the magwell, so your real hands are not in the same position as your in game hands. This is what cause you to have to push your mags elbow deep inside pistols and what make your hand jump around after you release the mag in the gun. Your controller is trying to go back to its position, ie where your controller ACTUALLY is.

So it's like they tried to fix this issue but moved it the wrong direction

No I think they put too much assist in the system. If the system required you to be precise with your hand placement and allowed you to fail if you don't know how to operate the weapon it would have worked better IMO. I'm sorry but to me it really felt like they replaced an ''ugly'' functional system for a ''pretty'' disfunctional system and I don't like it.

The angle that 73 monkey grips pistol mags in is odd. IRL I can money paw them basically side by side. If I did it like 73 I drop them half the time from the leveraged force of seating the new mag
