yep, this is what I have chosen to do, I tend to choose darker more natural complex looking birds rather than bright and flashy. The bright skins like, say a goldfinch or a macaw or parrot rarely look good unless the designer is good at making alternate designs.

Working on a skin and I have a question regarding how colours are applied for a skin to be valid.

If one colour can apply to multiple areas but in different ways, can that still work?

as an example, for the ano skin I have yellow as one colour being applied both to the osteoderms and to the feet, with the latter having some transparency to it. Is this alright or it won't work?

well initially I was using a mouse for flats, filling in entire spaces with solid colour. But now I have a tablet so I've been able to play around with other features like gradients and more gentle drawing.

@tame flint @dawn wasp Sorry for the ping guys! but! Many people use different Art programs, A few common ones are Clip studio paint, Krita, Photoshop, Fire Alpaca, and Ibispaintx! Personally I use Ibis paint and Krita (Which Im still learning to use) but Ibispaint is easy to use and its a mobile app. All the others except for Photoshop are free!

and I usually use several layers when I create my skins

layers also help organize but mine are kinda all over the place XD. I usually duplicate the template layer several times and apply base colors on the first then patterns and such from there

@dawn wasp personal skins are not, but there are modders who create skin mods for the game and if they like your skin enough they may ask you if they can use it.

I was just asked yesterday by someone if they could use my most recent stego skin for a mod! So people will ask, but there are also Discord servers for the skin mods such as the Isle of Asylum (IoA) creators where you can submit skins for the mod

its pretty cool and, it also is a good way to share creativity and Ideas

there's a huge difference between toads and frogs to begin with- toads have rough bumpy skin with stronger shorter legs and webless feet meant for digging and crawling, whereas a frog has smooth 'slimy' skin, longer legs, and webbed feet meant for swimming and hopping

I’m not good at pure details but I tried my best for variations of colors and not just a couple of them. Some get darker and some get lighter so that could make red water and many other variations of waters.
