I'm in garena server and I also play mainly SnD. I only play other modes when there's a daily first win mode. For me SnD is better for ranking up firstly because it's got more points per match and secondly because I can contribute the most to the victory, no matter what my teammates look like. In most other modes if you have a teammates feeding kills or doing poorly you may not be able to turn the table. I was top 2000 in garena last season with mostly SnD matches

I don't necessarily do but I make sure that nobody goes through the area I'm holding so my teammates won't be taken off guard. Bascially anything for the win, but I don't plant the bombs often because I'm not confident at it. I found that trophy systems give me a lot of points per round, though
