It is preference. Since I dont have a good mobility I chose amped to run around with a melee. I also use dauntless since I play DOM and many people use the ManOWar.

So best way I can explain this is if we take three guns

Pkm, ul736 and kn44

All 3 practically speaking have same ttk profile. What are the differences? In this case let's call pkm the passive lmg, ul the passive lite lmg and kn44 the main ar and to fully explain this balance method I will purposefully make mistakes on some stats cuz game isn't perfectly balanced rn

Passive lmg in this case has: best suppression capability with insane bi, insane wall pen and ultra large mag

Passive lite lmg trades the suppression part for disable(cuz let's not lie you will be using fmj on raal and stuff) and mobility but retains the bi

Main ar does a 180° and instead has rly good mobility and low flinch but no suppression capability

Observe the last two and how a interaction between them would go down. The lmg in thia case would really be the offensive one disabling enemy and inflicting a lot more flinch with bi while main ar counters that with high strafe and low flinch. It's like juggernaut versus stopping powering. And passive lmg just stares above them after wallbanging the two lmmao
