Anyone here understand how to properly do cardinal connected blocks please ? By that I mean blocks like fences, rails, etc.. that can connect to other fences / railes on 4 sides (Straight, Corner, T-shape, Cross).
Sharing something that helped me in case it helps others: I was having an issue with a prefab tree from vanilla (Trees/Crystal/Stage_3/Crystal_Stage3_001) where I would go to add a chain to it to hang a lantern, and the branch of the tree collapsed as if I'd chopped it down; I found out that /setticking false stops that from happening, and even when it's set true again it still doesn't fall down 🎉
If only I could use that in exploration mode to stop the logs in structures from collapsing when I update it... I like restoring the buildings as my bases, makes it harder when they collapse :(

yeah this bug is very annoying, it treats all logs that are natrually generated; in structures and trees, as part of a tree that isnt really a tree

[Worldgen V2 question] Did they remove ContentFields on World Structures in Update 3? It no longer appears in the asset editor and all BaseHeight nodes are basing from zero now. When I launch previous it shows up in the asset editor as well

How to rotate for example roof block when I use linear brush?
You can use selection tool, select it and press R to rotate, but be careful since it'll rotate EVERY BLOCK SELECTED.

You place it, use selection tool, select the roof blocks, then press R, and it'll enter transformation mode, then you click and hold the circle things that appeared, and move your move to rotate it. There's no way to make the brush place rotated blocks at the moment.
is there an easier wayto do copy and pasting becuase it's kind of stupid needing to find the exact middle of parts of your build
Is there a way to fix stairs and roofs after flip?
Random tip if anyone needs: if you go to the forgotten temple and tp to that heaven island, you can take (with middle mouse) the magic floating rings (they're are an invisible block inside few floating islands on sides of the area), which would be otherwise unnatainable. And then you can place them on top of any full block in your build :)
Also if you need to copy/paste/move entities, then when typing command add --entities in the end

yeah! /setticking false (though it stops several other things too)
Rotate them again until they're normal using the selection tool. But like I said earlier, be careful with it. And yes, it's pretty strange to use the transformation mode, make sure you don't use all the 3 axis. Remember that: The selection tool will rotate everything in 1 axis, so it's not always useful, because it change coordinates too. Quick tip: use it rotate and then copy and paste.

There's a river brush, but you can always set it with brushes.

if you ever have a bigger area to do you can always select the area and replace the empty with fluid_water
or just use fill command
last sentence is kinda wrong. if you edit the brush settings in the save file you can set the rotation of blocks like you would in a command e.g. Rock_Stone_Brick_Stairs|Pitch=180
what you cant do in save file editing is specify block rotations in masks as it separates the list of blocks with | for some reason when it uses a comma for every other list

How does the trigger for the running animation work?
I couldn't find anything in the NPC documentation and the only value I found that refers to it is RunThreshold

Sure, but pitch is not rotation, pitch is relative to vertical rotation in this case, and is the only one you can set with commands, the rotation I was talking about is the direction the block is facing (north, south, east or west) which till now, no one has said how to change while using brushes or commands, and the only way I found to do it is using the transformation mode of the selection tool.
pitch is just the example you can do pitch yaw and roll just fine idk where youre getting you cant set them with commands from ive done it a ton
you can even do all 3 at once if you really want to
still cant import OBJ's that I previously could and not sure why

I've had this problem too. What I did was copy the values from another weather .json using a text editor and pasting to my own weather .json and adjusting the values there

Perhaps a dumb question, but can I somehow change the lighting / ambience in a custom biome? Would love to change the sky or light tint when someone walks into it, like how the lighting changes when walking into the swamp areas
Looking for some help with building some things
Okay so first a rather quick explanation (okay I thought it was quick but I actually was figuring stuff along the way and just describing what I'm doing so sorry if i missed anything, i haven't done custom weather before):
- You need to most likely create a custom mod. - I recommend just searching for something along the line: How to create a new block mod in Hytale, it will show you how to set up a folder etc.
- After you have basic mod folder created, in Creative mode you press [B] - Assets - Asset Editor
- You need to create a new Weather asset. You press "+".
- In AssetType choose "Weather"
- In the window you give the Weather unique ID: I recommend something like: Weather_YOURNAME
- In Copy Asset field: you press on the empty field, from dropdown choose Hytale:Hytale, now you should see all the weathers in-game, choose any that you like or, it will be just the base you start with, so best to choose something closest to which one you like (for example the swamp one you mentioned - it's called Zone1_Swamp)
- Press "Create"
- On the right now you will see your weather opened.
- Press "Show All Properties", now you see all the settings available. They are based on time of day, at the top you can see something like the time bar that goes from 0-23. It means that weather will change to these settings at that time.
- To adjust anything just press on any of the squares with color or without color or the ones with text. You can adjust sky color, fog density, sun size etc and particles even!
- Okay but how to see the changes? First press Ctr+S so the options are actually saved 🫡
- Minimize this window / don't close it since you will most likely want to adjust.
- Bring back hytale to focus.
- I think the weather will change by default to show you the changes. If you reload the world it will go back to default. If you relog you need to reopen the Asset Editor again with B - Assets - Asset Editor
- You can get back your weather for now by typing in /weather set Weather_YOURNAME (i.e. I called mine Weather_CustomDai)
- if you want to go back to normal weather typ ein /weather clear
- Okay good, what now.
- If you want to create new Biome or edit existing ones I would highly recommend just watching some tutorial from kaupenjoe about creating your custom biome, he's officially working with Hytale now / it's a bit tricky at first so it's a bit hard to explain

Currently as far as i know it isnt supported, there is a way to make sub-biomes but its through editing a json no visual scripting. Im pretty sure someone is working on a a mod to allow make multiple biomes but its in its early stages.

if you get a forest brush you can place trees with left click and change to any type of tree you want in the brush settings
or if you do want to grow plants instantly search "growth" in the creative inventory and theres a potion you can use on plants
I finally figured out I can middle mouse button on fully grown crops with a paint brush to select them as a material and brush them onto tilled soil.
For those of you using the machinima tool do NOT use the .mach speed command, it works after todays update i can type it in but when I press enter with the value it completely rewrites my timeline adding thousands of frames and putting every key in a random position breaking the entire timeline. So yeah fun! I just lost 10 hours of work due to incompetence!
And 0 response from hytale after multiple msgs, emails, reports and tweets, having the time of my life here
(this was tested on 5 pc's by 3 different people mind you)
Hi can you paint a whole area and after use some brush to build deep oceans/cliffs and keep the first layer that's paint (no mods)? i can't find a way to keep the first layer when i try to go down
build the terrain first then change the layer after

hey im looking for some help with some builds on my world im not the best at building boats
hey all, trying to get a prefab to spawn in an already existing biome type. basically edited an already existing prefab to contain a different mob and now I want the new prefab to spawn instead of the old one. Made a prefabs folder in my server folder, added the prefab, but can't figure out the correct path to put for the biome to spawn it.
what animals can currently be tamed?

Nevermind. Turns out the Nvdia app uses the Alt+R keybind, and it's use took priority. Changed those keybinds, and now I can rotate heads.

For prefabs like trees and such it would grab it like Trees/Azure/Stage_2 for example, so it seems that it defaults the lookup to the HytaleAssets folder, don't know if that is what you were asking but hope it helps 
I got that part down. The issue is I edited an already existing prefab, and when it has you save it, it doesn’t save it to the HytaleAssets folder because it can’t override the actual assets, it saves it to a separate prefabs folder that it sticks into the folder where all of your server files are.

There's extensive guide by Farren's Tale on youtube about these tools if you're interested (named "How I Make my Builds | Hytale Creative Guide")
or use up arrow key to cycle previously used commands :)
if you create entity with texture and blockymodel of the block you want and then select Use Model inside asset editor. if you mean like prop-hunt (or stealth mode from murder miners), where you press on block to transform into it, you'd most likely need to write plugin for it to either change your model to one you're poining by getting it's id, or more viable way to have custom class of your own models (lets say props, chairs, other entities) which would have interact button which would change your model (this may be possible either via asset editor or via asset editor + small plugin providing a custom command/event which would be called when you interract with the said block). About this topic, Kaupenjoe worked on simmilar feature on his recent stream (Today we have a Date with Modding, from around 2h 20, min onwards), but instead of changing your model he tried to change chunk tint on the block you're pointing at. Might come in handy when trying to get data of the exact block you're selecting. Gl tho, your idea seems interesting

Use /hub, go to the normal world, and you'll have all zones just like exploration.

hello beautiful people. Does anyone know how to make a super flat world that starts at Y 80?
Probably by either editing it via node editor, or just doing it manually with select tool and either move or fill commands (they can be also accesed via inventory on the right side, when you have made the selection and you are holding select tool, for ease of use.. as you'd probably won't need 10k x 10k flat world at least in the beginning..
Could technically create a new biome based on the default flat biome, and adjust it through the node editor to start at Y 80, I think that would be the fastest option to do it
Also after that you'd need to run command to regenerate chunks most likely
True, you could use the /viewport radius <radius> command to see the immediate changes in a smaller radius, and then use something like /worldgen reload --clear to reload all chunks across the world

OK, that was the solution. Adding this to the config.json. Adding it to the server while it's stopped. Then starting the server. (You can't add it, then restart it. It saves on server stop apparently)

Is there a command or a block to place for fully grown wheat?
I'm creating a large wheat farm around a windmill and don't want to have to water every single spot.
press f7 and look at fully grown wheat in the top left itll say the name of the wheat to set

anyone else get problems with the undo command? i constantly do stuff and then the /undo command doesnt work when i try to revert it

i did /undo 50 and im getting 'nothing left to undo' when the blocks are still there so
i didnt know you could use a number set you prob went over the undo limit
in /undo help it lists 56346 as a whole number integer- but it's possible they have a hard set code limit
or some setting with a limit lower yeah

cant change the "biome" but you can change the tint of grass and plants with the tint brush

I think there may be a possiblity of also regenerating some chunks via node editor (if its v2), but it would regenerate them as for a new world. For v1 - maybe, but no idea

eh actually probably wont make that much of a difference for me at least
if I want to get it at the right speeds it makes timelines of like 10000, need to make long sequences with too many keys. Almost impossible to work with having a tiny slider and not being able to zoom in and out of the timeline
Does Hytale have data limits in folders? im trying to add a new NPC and for some reason its not appearing in the spawn menu in-game.
It means there are problems with it. Look for logs in UserData > Saves > [YourWorldName] > Logs
There you can sort by most recent, open most recent txt file, scroll to the bottom, and it will say if there are problems, sometimes which files or aspects are problematic, like something may be invalid, it may be unable to find it, not supported, invalid json, ect
It would be really of if in #Modding / Creative there was a channel for asset editor related questions, not just for blockbench/builds/art/avatars..

Could you provide more info? Does it break if instead of Weapon_Swing_Selector you use invalid file, how does the Weapon_Swing_Selector work, are there any errors in your world logs? Are they both your files? (I can't find them unless it's some properties, except a swing selector for the mace)

Are processing benches suddenly broken for anyone else? I made a custom one the other day and it was working just fine until the new pre-release patch, I reverted back to stable and they're still not working.
Cannot Perform OpenProcessingBenchInteration interation on Unsupported BlockState type Null is the error, never happened before. All of my custom processing benches new and old are affected.
There's also logic defining how far the NPC's can wander off from their spawn location, in the asset editor you cam modify many templates (Server/NPC/Roles/Core/Components/Steps/Component_Instruction_x_y.json)
So apparently Water goes through Marble Cobble Wall :/

Grab the "Selection Tool." You are meant to be holding it while interacting with those elements.
Most Creative functions are meant to be used while holding the item that the function originally comes from. (Although yes, there are a few commands that mimic them, they can't be used fully without grabbing the tool.)
its just that my inventory is already filled with blocks :/
If you want to remember what all the blocks are, you can use those chests to put blocks in to get your "palette" set up, so you don't forget. I'm sure you're not using 45 slots for blocks on any single build anyway.

Also, you can get rid of the Creative Tool when you're done using it and free the slot back up temporarily until you need to use it again

I'm not entirely sure. They seem to be placable in unintended ways. They only work on the bottom block, next to the ground, and they kinda don't like being there, as if they're updated they tend to break. Those might be broken for now.

Probably want to make a selection, copy, rotate (x2 or somehow specify 180 degrees), paste. That's my guess. I'm not in-game to see the commands rn, and I'm mostly focused on Adventure mode, but I know there is a rotate command, which should theoretically do that.
Unless you can just rotate selections, instead of just copied blocks. I know the rotate works on whatever is copied though.
That's horizontal flipping, not sure about vertical flipping, there might be some way to do that too, but in lieu of that, you might have to build one example in that orientation and copy it.
Ah yeah, Ive discovered /rotate already, problem is that rotate isnt quite the same as mirroring, most of what I build is only symmetrical on 1 axis and not 2, so I cant just rotate it. Think like a ship for example

custom avatars for machinima? what I did was just add an asset pack and copy the player test avatar jsons and change the equipped cosmetics, then give a name to those, it will then show up as an entity you can spawn. cuz skins dont work with the machinima player entity rn

Hello friends, I have a question, i noticed that with the entity tool when you place an object you can add a hard collision to it. However the collision uses the full cube even if the object is tinier. Is there a way to make the collision hitbox be exactly what the object looks like ?

try creating an asset pack and upload the model there and then make the path accordingly, maybe create an "imports" folder in the asset pack and put the model there, it wasn't like that before and I don't really know the correct solution we shall see how it goes

nope, if the color I gave isn't perfect, you can go to the chunk next to it and press your debug key (F3 in Minecraft), in the right side you have the "WORLD" panel, 9th line you have "Tint" and you can copy that value to apply it to the chunk that was tinted

You will need to find the specific blockyanim file that governs the "talking" state within the animations folder.
So i have found that the expretion that it is using is "surprize" but even after replacing the animaiton just like every other animation like "eating" the mouth still wont move with talking

Sort of an odd question but how do you all build path inclines? Just looking for opinions. I'm using the soil pathway for my current area, and it comes in full block, .75, .5, and .25 versions. Which is great because it means I can do a gradual incline. Buttttt is it overkill? If I'm just going up one block should I do a full gradual transition, or does a half slab look better? (I wish I could post pictures to show an example)
The slope of the roof blocks looks good for ramps
go to a chunk next to the chunk you tinted, and press the "Debug Screens" button twice (F7) to have the whole data menu displayed and check on the right side of the screen in the "WORLD" section > 9th line next to "Heightmap", you have "Tint" which is the tint of the chunk you're in.
In my case it's #578A24, so you can try it and see if it works 🙂

F7 once gives you basic info, F7 twice gives you a lot more info, F7 three times makes it disappear, repeat

is there a easy way to make a super flat map that is water instead of grass so i can make my own custom continent?
I haven't played around with flat worlds but you could try adding a flag to the world gen in the world file to make it use water I don't know the syntax though or if its possible
I need serious advice. I began world editing using the tools in creative mode and I'm left with lot of air pockets underwater. Tried to fill them with water using selection tool and it doesn't work

If we download a prefab or place an object in creative, sometimes I can't break it. I know about undo for prefabs but is there a key in creative that deletes any objects left after undo to remove these unbreakable items

i have a prefab where i was removing some placed items and a tavern barrel had been placed on an angle. I can't put anything under it after breaking the block below and a cornor of it is in the wall, so its sitting one block above the ground. I tried the selector tool with no success to try and clear it. I think the way its turned makes it harder to select and I am very new to the creator tools
Have you tried using the brush and putting it on the smallest footprint?

I am coming at it from having a premade prefab but absolutely no idea how it was made and with what tools, and no knowledge of how that item was placed to know how to remove it without causing issues. Next time I use that prefab I will not try to remove the decor. Its a nice build so I will reuse it in a new world

maybe I should spend some time on a creative world following a tutorial while waiting for another update to be released. I can see eventually learning to use the tools will be helpful and presets are a great way to move content into new worlds.

Is it possible that the barrel is an entity and not a block? If so you can do tab > creative tools > builder tools > then grab the entity tool. With it you can select and delete entities. Let me know if this helps
How does the tint tool work anyway? I couldn't figure out how it works. I set a tint but it doesn't affect any blocks.

The zone 2 biome closest to my base has no more storm saplings because I've harvested them all looking for this recipe. I'm a continent away from my base now and I have not found another biome that has them.

I added a prefab to my survival game ( using creative tools) which had a pond. no water was in the pond and when I added water the fish flapping on the bottom disappeared. I have added prefabs with ponds before and the water was there. So not sure why the water was missing in that prefab. is there a setting i can change when loading them to ensure the water is included?
or is it a setting that is set when the prefab is made in creative?

just adding for info that I tried bringing in an old prefab that worked before update 3 and the water isn't put in just a hole with flapping fish so I wonder if update 3 changed something. The annoying part is that the fish die that were in the prefab
I also tried placing it in a river where water was and when I removed it the river water was all messed up so had to restore game from a backup.

For example, you have a room which you paste in the ground. The inital room has empty space inside, but when you paste it it'll get filled with soil.

I know there are spawner blocks that make the mobs spawn in game. Does anyone know if Kweebecs also have a spawn block. I was at a village at night and the skeletons were chasing and killing them. I know I can spawn them as entities in creative to replace them but unsure if they will respawn naturally or if I need to replace some myself

I am still working out how to use the entities. Put some in my house and they are cute running around. later there were less so not sure if they despawn or they ran over block with fire on them lol so still experimenting in my village but then in my exploration at night i found the kweebec tree place and unfortunatly the skeletons started chasing them and attacking them. Being the brave soul I am I ran away instead of defending them lol. Haven't been back in case the skeletons are still there lol and on a killing rampage
they will kill themselves with firepits and the server will cull them atm

Ah, I never get issues like that - just lets me in if the only problem is an outdated message. I've had no issues in setting the server version to get rid of it.

I don't think V2 is as soon as people think. I see glass coming sooner than V2 which will be a long time in the future. From what Simon said, the upcoming major updates will be the Cursebreaker arc in chapters, culminating in V2 "the restored world of Orbis". This means V2 is years away at this point since we have not even seen chapter 1 of the story

I was wondering how they textured the mod. I have a nice cats one and as I have 2 birmans the siamese one works in their place but the face is brown and one of my birmans has a grey face.. what they call a blue point birman
I wanted to duplicate the siamese one but just change the brown but new to this sort of thing so wondered if that was possible and how they added the texture to it. I know very little about the creative mod except for adding prefabs and placing them, so may be out of my depth here

ok back. I watched someone add a cacti as a pet, using what is default in Hytale. Watching him switch between screens to code it made me realise just how many clever people there are out there. And this involved no colour or texture change! I know when I am out of my depth ability wise. Long story short I went to the mod page and suggested the siamese cat have another texture added.

so, how would i go about creating a flat map with several layers of water so its infinatly water instead of grass? i know hytale doesnt have a feature for customizing flat maps yet and i remember something like that in minecraft. everything ive googled up so far seems way too complicated and im not sure how to go about messing with a world files data or the node thing ive seen talked about, basically, i want to make a flat, at least 10 blocks of water deep and sand under that, that goes on forever so i can make a custom continent.

“Nodes” usually means that you connect blocks of code rather than writing code, its kind of a simplified way of prototyping games, shaders, materials in different software and in this case landscape. You access them via creative tools in Hytale, but you need a setup from tutorial thats why the video recommendation. Once you have a template you can freely reuse it, just save it as separate file 🫡

I think now you can skip the step where he mentions command about changing worldgentype to HytaleGenerator, since it's now default in Superflat world. Other than that it should still be pretty up-to-date
So I found that I ended up having to go down a rabbit hole of other tutorials. It said to make a mod pack folder, then I needed to figure out how to make a .json file,I got overwhelmed and just gave up for now. I’ll look at it again when I’m ready

Not sure if it's here I have to write this but as of a few days Everytime I try to go creative I can't fly nor can I move and if I click repetitive the fly button hytale gives error and closes. Is this a known issue or is it myself only??

In pre-release they have changed the bush settings. I used to use the Mask with the tick box selected to fill a build that was going underground with empties. That option has now gone does anytone know if there is a way to replicate this feature?

Does anyone know if there's a mod that allows you to place items where you shouldn't be able to normally? Like, a vine on the wall and then a block on the top part of the vine so only the smaller bottom part is visible. Something like 'moveobjects on' for Sims
You could maybe accomplish this with the entity tool in vanilla

When you use the entity tool it should pop up something where you can select items at the top and select the item you want to spawn
Then you can position the item and move it to places you can't normally put it

Hello, how can I use the /world settings disabledfluidtickers command? I tried doing /world settings disabledfluidtickers add true. But it doesn't change anything, cause water still flows and such.
Fluid tickers refers to fire spread not water I believe... check if fire still spreads

looks like I lost my world lmao. the mods i've been using not working anymore and everything i build using the blocks from mods wont load and crash my world 😭. time to uninstall all block mods and startover

I think I already know the answer, but is there any way to make entities solid?
I want to use them in some prefabs for survival, but there doesn't seem to be much of a point unless they can be destroyed or walked on. This severely limits my uses for them.
Interesting question. You could make an invisible block and stack them onto of each other then spawn the entity inside it. Lol.
How you make that invisible block? Idk.
There might be a way to add collision detection on the entity but I’m not at my pc right now and it would require a plugin

Anyone else find the hotkeys for creative tools not working in older worlds after update?
Mainly been trying to use the selector tool and I can't delete the selection, change to moving the selection of any of the other buttons
I also saw in the settings you're supposed to be able to hotkey undo but I've never gotten that to work
all of mine are working since the update. the only thing i hate is what they did with prefabs. i ahve like 100+ and now i have to go througha nd re save all of them to the new annoying system.

I managed to save one prefab before the update but since then it seems I cannot either, but maybe I don't remember how I did it
It was something like selecting a box with the selection tool and then doing a /editprefab new or editprefab save I can't remember the exact process to be honest

Okay just so you know the /editprefab command has been changed, to save a prefab in your selection box you can use "/prefab save" now instead

You checked in the right folder ? My prefabs save in C:\Users\Krampus\AppData\Roaming\Hytale\UserData\Saves\<Name_of_Your_World>\mods\ <Name_of_your_mod>\Server\Prefabs
See the whole mod thing was confusing me because normally theyd save in the world prefab not general prefab

When saving prefabs, use '/prefab save', which will open a gui. Click the Browse button, then click the "Create New" button at the bottom. Give it a name, Ex. My Prefabs, in the group field, put "Prefabs", Target Dir, choose "Global Mods Folder" Description "Prefabs", rest is optional. Now there should be a new Asset Pack named "My Prefabs (or whatever name you used), select that. In new dialog, give your prefab a name and check the boxes that apply, click save. You will now have a new folder in UserData/Mods that contains the prefab, which you can now enable in new worlds instead of copy/pasting from one world to another. Hope this makes sense and helps anyone

In the "revolve tool", which I find very hard to use, there’s a type of building rotation that I can’t reproduce with the selection tool and the standard green rotation gizmo. How can I rotate buildings in that same way?

I'm not exactly sure, but I thing for it to count as a biome it needs to be procedurally generated, it is a World Gen V2 contest afterall
are trees bound to specific zones ? or blocks where they can grow ?
I believe planted trees need enough dirt under them for their roots to grow

It'll open up a menu in which you can select or create a whole new group along with the name of said group.
You'll then be able to save the prefab into that group.
By default I believe the groups already there are read only, at least on a server they are.

Look for the top text in your WS and replace it with the bottom
Take care to not remove or keep too many brackets

I was thinking of hiding cadles as entities inside blocks for lighting, but I went with placing normal candles under upsidedown stairs that have the same texture as the floor, the light passes through fine, I don't know why the same doesn't happen with half blocks

I have a request for mod creators: I really need a mod that will make descending half-blocks (slabs) and stairs smoother, because now when you go down them, it feels like you're stumbling instead of descending properly. Even with the slow walk feature enabled. It's weird, because when you go up them, everything happens smoothly

Why is there the key "Name" twice in the JSON of my stair please ? One is in the "Translation" section but another one is at the Root and also called "Name" And I can't find the second one in the editor while I find it in the generated JSON 🤔
