You don't even need to know java to do these things (if I'm understanding what you want to do correctly), you can do a lot with the asset editor. If you really wanted to make it a plugin, all you'd have to learn is how to setup the plugin and use the exact same files as you would in the pack

Oh absolutely you can! There is already some dash interactions in there too that arent being used atm (at least not in adventure mode)

Your only limit is that you are limited to built in keybinds atm, so you wont be able to use another key to dash. Most I've seen put the dash on the right click of an item

Spirits of Steel Rebirth, started by Z21 as a way to remake Spirits of Steel a New Dawn (Made by Gav Grub), which was a remake of Gav Grub's first game Spirits of Steel, both of which were made in pygame; but SOSR was 50% vibe coded, so I spent hours of my life fixing that.

Real talk, OOP poses constraints that require you to write good code. The code that's easily manageable by a team, or by a swarm of AI Agents

if you have no limits on how bad your code gets, the codebase quickly gets out of control, saying this from experience working in team

I'd argue it's constraints are it's weaknesses, like it's heavy focus on over abstracting has performance costs, and makes logicing about code harder, and obscures how things actually work.

I'm a community manager, myself. 50,000 members in one of the ones I manage, 300k in another. We don't like advertising either. That being said, you run into the scunthorpe issue and overmoderation kills a community, like how it's killing this one.

There's ironically both overmoderation and undermoderation going on at the same time here. There's so many words on their blacklist that it's hard to have an honest conversation and it's like that so they don't have to have moderators constantly involved.

There's also constant troll issues due to the lack of active moderation to the point where it's become unwelcoming to people who want a decent long-term community. I probably won't stay in this server much longer either, I'm looking for that better long-term community that's actually cared for. I don't really see that here.

I managed the RLC discord community so pretty large given it's the most downloaded Minecraft modpack and without an active moderation style over their current passive style it will always require bots and filters I've always been a fan of active moderation as it builds a better connection to your community by being real people rather than just people who handle reports like a checklist

I've brought it up to people here before so I won't go on my soapbox but I've noticed how much the community here feels neglected by the staff and its specifically because of the fact they don't exist in chat quack has a good relationship but even he's not in here for more than a few msgs at a time and that's not to say the mod team is unreliable or poorly done I just think theres a philosophy issue with how it's priorities are rn

Also it's kinda funny we have 1 channel for unverified people because #server-plugins-read-only is read only and I got them to archive the old forum page because of people asking why can't they send msgs in it every 2 hours

Completely agree. I've noticed this is copied from the Hypixel discord's moderation style and that discord is also chaotic. This is a different game now. Probably not the intended way, but I think if you sleep in a bed, break it and place it back exactly where it was, it lets you sleep without setting the point? It's that or you have to override the spawn point by placing another one within range and overriding, and then you're able to sleep in the original bed without setting spawn. Can't remember which

Sorry for the not exact method, I've just noticed while playing that sometimes my spawn point doesn't get set under some circumstances, been a thing for a few versions now, hopefully isn't fixed tbh

not sure if anyone can help but I placed a prefab using creative and when I used undo comand it disappeared but a few items were left I can't break. Not really experienced with creative just know enough to place a prefab so wondered if anyone knew of a key or way to select the item to delete or break it

also struck the same problem with prefabs where I am removing something to place it else where and the item sitting on it stays and is unbreakable

Atm I have a tavern barrel sitting by my house a block off the ground as I broke the block under it but if I try to click on it its not selectable even in creative and whacking it does nothing. I agree as there are many mods already available which expand the game, plus you can choose the type of mods you add that suit you rather than have content for everyone which may not be of interest to others. eg mini games don't interest me, or the emotes, but other players love that content

Thats why id rather see this game focus on backend tooling, so mods can help shape each server differently.
Down the road they can do updates and add content.

Actually, I think that's just for the time being!!! Simon has also expressed his distaste with community management at the moment. But to be fair, they are super active focusing on the game. Right now the Hytale team is focusing wholeheartedly on the backend systems of the game. So modding capabilities, tools, etc. Most of the feedback will come from the technical players of the game, modders and developers which are active in that discord more than this one. There they discuss the backend systems rather than the basic features of the game. The game has a lot of room to grow in that capacity. Once we get to features like adventure mode, minigames, items, and mobs being added to the game, a lot of the feedback won't come from the modding community but rather here with the main community! That's my opinion anyways!

A lot of what you’re saying is fair. The official Discord has felt too locked down, staff presence has not been strong enough, modding discussions have not had the visibility they should, and too many people feel they need to rely on community servers, DMs, or tickets instead of getting enough direct help in the official space. I get why that feels bad.

As for why we haven’t leaned harder on volunteers: at this scale, doing so too quickly creates a whole different set of problems. Once someone is helping in any official or semi-official capacity, you immediately run into questions of trust, vetting, consistency, privacy, accountability, and access. If we rush that, we can create even more issues in the short term instead of actually solving them. We need to set that kind of thing up properly, and right now we simply do not have the time to do that carelessly.

I’ve been very vocal internally about how unhappy I am with the current state of the official Discord. We are actively hiring to improve this, and we want to bring more direct engagement back to the official Discord, including scheduled Q&As. (Last meeting about Discord, we went over all of this.)

This is really smart, and I appreciate it, even if it means we have to wait a bit for it to kick in. I personally think the current moderation is sufficient to combat some issues, enough to be worth taking the deficiencies with it over potentially bad-actor moderators.

ok I just tried prerelease and found most of the mods in the world I had duplicated won't load. When the game update comes will I have to start a new world until the mods are updated. Question ... Where is the best place to go to ask questions and get information about modding?
I am starting to get into this aspect, and have got basic blocks nd an NPC to function in game, but I am trying to understand a little more about how the more complex elements of hte models work. Attachments I can get OK, and I can see how to make ones that will always be there, and how variants would work for slightly less uniform figures. All really neatly packaged in teh editor.
Where I am stuck is around the weapons that can be assigned to hands and the drops. When I look at the NPC_Role files, it is a bit tricky to pick up how this is structured and some exampled I look at are totally different. I understand the basic syntax rules fine, but I can see things like Undead seem to have layered variants and inherited stuff, so trying to find a 'clean' base to help me understand how this file functions.

you also can get decorative gold blocks down inside some of the volcanos in zone 4 where you go down to get into the dinosaur area, be careful of the lava tho when collecting

Sure! Personally I like to put vines and mossy stones around the base, lots of grass and bushes too

My base is next to a sunflower field, so I'm incorporating a lot of yellow flowers around the base :))

Usually it's random, with blocks I use a checkered pattern to give more variety, specially with floors

Builders hammer...yeah, it's a very useful tool, tho I was a little sad it was just a portable builders bench, tho that doesn't makes it bad, kinda better. You can place your blocks and just customize them each by each
