interest dropped, hytale isn't dead just not that popular atm, not that much to do, as mods appear interest will slowly rise but it might take years to reach the initial player count, it might also not reach that peak again but who knows

Its a singleplayer/friend group focused game. Its hard to ever call it dead. Are you looking for high popualation public servers? You might have to wait a while for the server browser to get some attention from the dev team

It's gonna take a while to get traction with multiplayer, the only ones out are basic survivals or really simple minigames, hypixel will probably be implemented when minigames release and it'll basically just be the hypixel server i'm sure, the only actually planned out and proper server i know of rn is Labyrinth which is pay to enter currently

Facts. People don’t realize that this is early access with still many unfinished features. People should look at MC early versions or games like Warframe, Rust - they get updates and they get better. It’s a work of art which you sculpt and it gets better with time

TBH, like Minecraft, UI mods should be either client-side mods that aren't required by all, or akin to a resource pack so others don't have to see them if they don't want the UI changed. I don't know if that capability is available yet though.

Choose any block and look through how it works in the Asset Editor, there are plenty of videos that can help with this too. You can duplicate existing assets and make changes accordingly if you dont want to rebuilt the asset from scratch

Pretty much! I may be wrong but its possible that the engine cannot render semi-transparent pixels, I havent seen it used at all so far. So your glass texture may have to be more like clear glass and not coloured

its conflicting because we are not sure if its even supposed to hydrate dirt like that. some folks can do the line, some have to make lil squares around, and folks like me, the water doesnt hydrate anything its next to, so i have to use the can

I've heard from some people that it's inconsistent. I've avoided using that technique because its just simpler to water them yourself, plus the watering can is getting an update (already in pre-release i think) where it will water a 3x3 and has more durability

I'm not sure how much help I can be with jar files, I have only used the asset editor so far, but did you decompile and then recompile it with these new changes? Also what does the log say about the error? It'll show more information about the issue than the in game error description

This kind of mod is a real easy thing to do in the asset editor though, you may have better luck creating your own pack rather than editing someone else's

Yup in game, it's incredibly easy to get into the asset editor and start using it. Most of what you see in game is created using the asset editor so you can learn a lot just by exploring how other blocks and items work

I've noticed that when you kill a mob, you can still get it registered after you've killed it for as long as you go close enough before its corpse disappears. I literally ran THROUGH the queen before killing her. Still got nothing.

Unfortunately you dont have much control over what it takes, it'll search your inventory first, then backpack, then nearby chests. It'll always go from top left to bottom right, so you can place the ones you wanna keep towards the bottom right

From watching this, GreatSky edited a file that already existed (a mod file) and now it won't load.

you can check your latest log file (Hytale/UserData/Logs) for the exact reason it crashed, you'll have to scroll up from the bottom and look for anything marked SEVERE

If it is failing to load then it is an error in the code, like an extra comma or missing comma or line that was edited wrong. Also make sure manifest is right.

If the asset if from an older version and you are trying to use it on a newer version, then yes it could not work. Your logs, as mentioned, will tell you exactly.

This got slightly changed in a hot patch, it doesnt give you that pop up warning anymore (maybe only on mods updated to at least update 3? not 100% on that), you can load in with outdated mods, just the red error in chat when you join a world shows now

True, so you need to time it, it's best to pay attention, put a shield in offhand, eat a berry/other food, (all before engaging them) then try to snipe them, and switching to a 1h weapon/tool+shield if it gets too close.

You could set up a bed/teleporter so it's day while you're there, to make it easier to see them.

Quick note on Hytale QoL in Early Access!

We're currently working on many changes, and thanks to all your feedback and suggestions, we have a much better idea of where to prioritize! Some of the changes we're shipping are quick ones that solve real pain points today, even when we know they aren't the long-term answer.

The way you play today is going to look very different a year from now. A lot of the manual work you're doing right now is meant to be solved through deeper, interconnected game systems over time. So every QoL decision we make today, we're weighing against where things are headed.

Building those deeper systems takes time though, and that's the tradeoff we're trying to balance. That said, we're not going to let you struggle with the basics while we develop it all!

Some upcoming QoL changes in Early Access will be temporary by design, and we'll do our best to communicate that as we go. As the game's systems get deeper, some of those early QoL will need to change, and when they do, we'll always aim to replace them with something equal or better through real gameplay.

This way of thinking actually lets us ship QoL faster, as long as everyone understands that some of it may change down the road when better systems take its place.
