What's the use of static

#

As in

#

Public Static void main()

wet girder
#

"A static class is basically the same as a non-static class, but there is one difference: a static class cannot be instantiated. In other words, you cannot use the new operator to create a variable of the class type. "

#

directly from c# documentation

barren shale
#

static members do not require an instance to be used, a static class is a class that can only have static members

#

i wouldnt worry about static at the early stages

#

just focus on the basics first

hollow bronze
#

i'd say learn whatever interests you

#

whether be static or whatever

barren shale
#

yeah but i dont think jumping into statics at the start is a good idea

#

you need to have a grasp of the basics before you can start learning whatever you want

orchid frigate
#

Dont give up on arch

#

Everyone that likes linux should have used arch at some point

#

Its a great way for learning everything linux

#

It gives you that sense of barebones without going barebones

orchid frigate
#

I didn't know how to include header files

#

Nor had any idea how c++ worked

#

You can learn along the way

#

If you dont want to spend a couple of months doing nothing but stupid beginner project that are completely pointless

hollow bronze
# old mural ``Public Static void main()``

An instance is basically a particular object, so if you have 3 boxes (which represents our class) each are their own instance.
In these boxes we have marbles, toys, etc (think of these as your variables) like int, string, float unique to their own instance or box.
If we set for instance our marble to be static, this marble will be basically have a string tied to every box, and when you open one and follow the string its the same marble for every box. So if you change that marble to green, every box will direct you to a green marble. Now lets remove the strings (removing static) and now each box can have different marbles set inside of them. So you can set Box A to have a green, Box B to be blue, etc.

It can also be applied to methods, the entire class, and so-on, but you'll get errors if you use something without static and without a reference. Like this:
cause marble isn't static, it needs the particular box you want to change, or it needs to static and the same across the board. Hopefully the box/marble analogy isn't too confusing, but thats what static functions like.

#

There's so many brackets I thought it's JSON 2

barren shale
#

not good

#

very bad structure

#

impossible to expand on

#

this how you would do something like this

#

first you need a function or two for the prompts

#
public static int SelectPrompt(string prompt, string[] selection)
{
  string input;

  do
  {
    Console.Clear();
    Console.WriteLine(prompt);
    for(var i = 0; i < selection; i++) {
      Console.WriteLine($"{i + 1}. {selection[i]}");
    }
    input = Console.ReadLine();
  } while(!int.TryParse(input, out selectionIndex) && selectionIndex < 0 && selectionIndex >= selection.Length);

  return selectionIndex;
}

public static bool YesNoPrompt(string prompt)
{
  string input;

  do
  {
    Console.Clear();
    Console.WriteLine($"{prompt} (Y/N)");
    input = Console.ReadLine().ToLower();
  } while(input != "y" && input != "n");

  return input == "y";
}
#

and then you can use these functions like this

#
public static void Main(string[] args) {
  Console.WriteLine("This is A Mini - RPG Game Created By Daisuke Yoshida Using C#. A 14 Year Old Begginer Programmer");
  Console.WriteLine("Press any key to continue...");
  Console.ReadKey();

  var option = SelectPrompt("Welcome to Mini-RPG Game!",
                              new string[] {
                                "Start",
                                "About",
                                "Quit"
                              });
  switch(option)
  {
    case 1:
      Start();
    break;
    case 2:
      About();
    break;
    // case 3:
    //   Quit();
    // break;
  }

  Console.WriteLine("Thank you for playing the game have a nice day!!");
}

private static void Start()
{
  bool result = YesNoPrompt("Would you like to know the commands of the game?");
  if(result) {
    // Tutorial
  }

  // Game starts here
}

instead of using int string and other datatypes you can use var and C# will automatically select the correct type for the context for example when you do var x = 5; it will know that x is an integer

that's why it's easy to install anything on any website

Idk if this is the place where to dump this idea but here i go;

#

The game has three dimensions of itself;

The Map
Groups are what you will see on top of the map. These groups can be either states or organizations, and exist as long as they have pop's. Groups always have a single leader, a unique pawn that gives orders to other unique pawns, who in turn give orders to either more unique pawns or pop's. The base value of efficiency at wich these pops produce is determined by their loyalty, ranging from 0 to 6, and said base number is multiplied by the tech level of the building (if they're producing), construction (if they're building), or tools (if they're on an army or nomadizing).

All groups have a Hostility value towards each other. Said hostility can range from -64 to 64. Hostility is increased by wars, decreased by Coexistence and drifts towards an equilibrium based on respective beliefs over time

#

The Beliefs
Every pawn has a set of beliefs wich determine its behavior primarily through its opinion and loyalty to other pawns. These beliefs are grouped inside three types of Logicia; Religion, Philosophy and Culture. Even though these beliefs are traits of the pawn and exist separately of their Logicia, pawns will use their Logicia instead of their beliefs to measure loyalty, whilst they will have opinion maluses and crises based upon their beliefs. Logicia might share beliefs, and shared beliefs reduce Hostility between Groups

Logicia however are not composed just of beliefs, Cultures determine skin color, clothing and architecture, and have a mythos. Religion also has mythos, and depending on the type and bound organization it can be a modified version of the cultural mythos, wich determines its icon. Philosophies also have an icon, but it is determined randomly. Mythos on the contrary are mostly not written randomly, and are an written version of events that have happened to great Unique pawns

#

The Pawns
The pawns are the individual units of living persons. They drive the story by doing everything; building, working, warring, governing, philosophizing, preaching, etc. They do this through two kinds of pawns; Unique pawns wich exist separately, and Population pawns wich exist as pop's. Unique pawns have an Opinion value towards each other, but not pops, wich ranges from 32 to -32. They also have a Loyalty value towards their superior, if they have one. Pops can only have a Loyalty value, and they can only have it towards unique pawns. A pop's base efficiency is directly determined by its Loyalty towards it's direct ruler.
