Had something interesting happen during war, wondering if anyone else has experienced it.

A human kingdom (army of like 5) was at war with a much stronger dwarven kingdom (army of 50+ warriors). The Dwarven kingdom was on an island and had put a huge army in a boat ready to go take over the human kingdom. However! As soon as the dwarven boat left with the whole kingdom's army, the human kingdom snuck a boat onto the island, and with like 5 warriors took over the Dwarven island without any trouble (because the whole Dwarven army was on the boat). Because of the the way the mechanics of the game work, this meant that that huge Dwarven army in the boat was rendered completely useless and joined the human kingdom! This was a complete flip, the human kingdom would have been absolutely doomed otherwise.

While this was a fun and unexpected twist in this context, it did make me wish for a feature where armies of fallen cities can try to recapture them, maybe with a time limit before the surrender. In this case the Dwarven army should have been able to return and reclaim their island (which they easily could have). Anyone else have this experience before?

Obviously there are a million features they could add, but I do think this would make war so much more interesting. In Civ V I think there is a feature where you don't destroy a Civ until you've defeated all of its units. I'd love that in Worldbox, so losing your last city doesn't mean you're dead if you've got a huge army still. Love the idea of rebels in the mountains eventually taking back their city

I am sure it was some RNG that made it happen but I of course made it lore that this king was a genius. Amazingly enough, not too long after this move, that kingdom ended up taking over the world and ruling for hundreds of years before it finally fell to rebellions. Amazing for a city that was literally maybe a year away from being turned to dirt by the Dwarves haha

The initial conquest was! He did fall in battle but not before they (the Kingdom of Guelin) finally took over their timeless enemy (Inkia). I do think it was his heir that finished the job and united the world (besides the weird island in the southwest, we don't talk about them)

I called him an idiot because he had declared war on Inkia, got his army decimated, then declared war on the much stronger dwarves. He was as good as dead. Then! He pulled that strategic mastery, bid his time as he reubuilt his army, destroyed Inkia in the west, and then passed a rising kingdom to his son as he died a glorious death in his southern conquest.

Actually I just remembered the other day, I had basically the exact thing happen between a large kingdom and a small kingdom; while the larger kingdom was preparing a boat to go conquer the smaller one, the smaller one had already sent a small squadron of elite soldiers that absolutely TORCHED the the larger kingdom's cities, while the boat they arrived on destroyed the previously mentioned boat that had all the larger kingdom's army. They even killed their king!

Unfortunately, that elite squadron would for some reason end up stuck in the wilderness for the next decade or so (the two nations were on different islands). The kingslayer was eventually killed in a small skirmish, and the bannerbearer, who had by far the most kills, perished due to old age right before a ship arrived to pick up the survivors. Their resting places are forever marked by the only two monoliths I've placed on the map.

There are two ways they can evolve. One makes them sapient but staying an animal, the other makes them sapient and humanoid.

I assume the penguins have been made sapient but are still animals, so they aren’t able to be modified by the monolith further.

Or they have the “pure” subspecies trait which makes them unable to be affected by the monolith
