To make it look realistic, make a copy of that image and draw tectonic plate boundaries on the map

Overlay that image on your original map image and set the transparency of that layer to around 50-60%

Draw mountain ranges along those plate boundaries as well as ocean trenches

Once you have your mountain ranges, you can then draw rivers originating from those mountain ranges flowing outward to the sea, with multiple river sources originating from the mountain ranges converging into a few rivers by the time they get to the sea

Also don't forget to make use of the different water tiles, as well as the desert tiles (unless you don't want deserts in your map)

Lastly, don't overuse the vortex tool - too much use of it will make the map look unnatural

I am on android and I have this very odd problem where there is nothing in my data file. When I go to android->data there is nothing there, and when I open obb that's where com.mkarpenko.worldbox is yet that file has nothing in it. When I interact with com.mkarpenko.worldbox by creating com.mkarpenko.worldbox->saves->save1 and put a map.json in it, it doesn't work. I am not sure what to do, and I was wondering if this was the right place to ask for help since it is map discussion.

Important: The new map format is called map.wbox - your game can still load a map.json but it will save the new save file to a map.wbox instead. If both a map.json and map.wbox exist in the save folder the game will load the map.wbox.

You will have to start working with the map.wbox instead - which is the same as map.json just not base64 encoded

map.json = json -> gzip -> base64
map.wbox = json -> gzip
