You need to edit the image with a photo editor program and use the colour palette file provided with Destring's download to recolour the image to match the correct colour palette used by the image to map converter

The colour palette file is the .aco file

That's why image-to-map conversion isn't as straightforward as you think

Save file sharing instructions for iOS:

2. Find a map to download and save it in the file manager.
3. Download a file injector (they’re not on the AppStore, so you must download it from the web).
4. Once you have found one open it up and select WorlBox.
5. Select the file of the map you wanna use (needs to be named map.json) then inject.
6. Open up WorldBox and load the save
   -WARNING! SAVED MAPS MAY GET DELETED

Map projection distortion is impossible to avoid whether you make an Earth map from scratch or from an image

Because you're basically putting a curved 3d surface on a 2d surface

Distortion therefore cannot be avoided

@bright fern i used to use an imac but I think once you download the map, you should find the WorldBox directory (idk if its called mkarpenko or WorldBox) on the Finder application. Then do the same as you would on a Windows. find the path and drag and drop.

Basically the .dds file you took is basically the map texture applied on the terrain.bmp itself

And it's much harder to convert into a Worldbox map because the colours are completely varies for the same terrain type

You could have made it much easier by switching the image to Indexed mode and drastically lower the number of colours of the colour palette

Save file sharing instructions for iOS:

1. Download a file manager
2. Find a map to download and save it in the file manager.
3. Download a file injector (they’re not on the AppStore, so you must download it from the web).
4. Once you have found one open it up and select WorlBox.
5. Select the file of the map you wanna use (needs to be named map.json) then inject.
6. Open up WorldBox and load the save
