are u sure? did u download maps recently like the Falkland Islands, Malta, or the sandwich islands ? Because I paused most of the time and when I’m done with my projects between year 5-8 I’m guessing each year starts individually for every person on year one when people download maps.

No, none of those. I downloaded a few in map downloads. A few started on year one. So I was just curious how people get that because when I was messing around making a map I'll redo water or land and unpause to see the water fill back in.

Started the game recently on PC so I'm spoiled by the bigger maps. Never played mobile.

Then my best guess for any devices is that if someone let’s say they finish a map on year 28, they upload it to the map downloads server, and someone downloads it, the year resets back to year one for each individual. Otherwise, the creator of the map never unpaused while working and never checked water levels.

That is two situations.

simply, a map creator envisions, even if the water is grey, they will simply look at if it’s light gray (shallow waters), medium gray, or dark grey (deep ocean). And…if you are creating rivers, be careful to unpatch blockages that will stop the water from going through.

10x10 version of the "The Old World" map for mobile-compatibility and playability reasons.

Changes:

• Rivers categorized as "Level 4" (additional rivers) and "Level 5" (minor rivers) on the GSHHG shapefiles are removed from the map. This is to improve playability, increase chances for villages to form, and to make more space for villages to expand.
• The Urals, Sudetes, the Scandinavian Mountains, the Cambrian Mountains (in Wales), and the Scottish Highlands and Southern Uplands are not readded to the resized map for effort reasons.

The system is "kinda" in the game where villages can send resources to each other but its like bartering trade instead of being based off of money. And Ive like never seen it happen properly so villages which are stuck on islands with no resources are going to be underdevloped for a long time from what ive seen

Some phones can handle up to maps of up to a land area of 150, with likely performance decreases if the map has a large population and amount of vegetation. Therefore, maps within these restrictions are what's usually considered "mobile friendly".
However, keep in mind that "mobile friendly" doesn't mean that it's always good for your specific phone, pay attention to aspects like the map.wbox KB/MB size and compare it to what your specific phone was already able to run in the past. The definition for "mobile friendly" is just an average, there's always going to be better phones that can also run huge maps and worse phones that even struggle with iceberg.

WIP. The beginning of a new cave system. There's tons of details for me to add like dead ends, pockets of ore deposits, tiny crystal biomes for tinier ore deposits... But I think this will be the simplified outline of major caves, and the connections between them. I didn't want to spend too much time sculpting the terrain on any one place just yet, so it is ugly still.

The plan is lizards in the southwest (or maybe lizards and snakes together?), garlic southeast, dwarves north. Beetles (dunglords) in the middle.
Also tons of roaming versions of all species to represent miners and adventurers wandering around, getting lost in the tunnels. These ones will not have prefrontal cortex so they won't be part of civilisations, but can still reproduce with the villages of their species. I've done it on previous maps where they tended to die or get lost in villages, but here they should have tons of uninhabitable tunnels to move around.

I like the way you work with the form, The water levels are good too, maybe I would recommend trying to make one or two large landmasses instead of several small islands. But that's probably just my taste, not your flaw

Ngl, never hate on someone elses map, encourage them, you never know how much your support matter for them.

I would've definitely give up if i never got support or praise for my very first map, i always try to view everyone's maps through lenses of effort.

no, you should do the command and attach the map file to the same message as the command
you can change the dimensions by doing #x# after the command, so like this:

This PC > OS (C:) > Users > username > AppData > LocalLow > mkarpenko > Worldbox

as you can see, the "worldbox" folder you were in was common > worldbox

I often start with an idea of some basic shape or a set of shapes. But a lot of it is trial and error, or just going with the flow. Start a continent here, then an island there... Just remember to take a step back once in a while to look at the overall picture. It is very easy to make continents that look artificial because you just filled the box with a... world. And by that I mean the coastlines run directly north/south and east/west, so the continent looks like a box

#🔁map-conversion message Here's one fairly large world I started like this. The basic idea was three big continents that all point towards a central island. I didn't want them to look too much like triangles

All the islands came after the center and 3 continents pointing at it

You could look for inspiration in real life. If you are interested in a big ocean, you could look at Singapore or Venice

Put your own spin to it

Start with 1-4 big shapes, then add smaller shapes between them

If you don't want a big ocean, then your shapes can be a big mountain range, or a desert

Sadly it's not where you can get from the steam's "browse local files" button

You should find the Users folder fairly easily from your computer, and from there go down the paths to find worldbox

In the Users folder, it will be your username, then Library

then Application Support

and that is where the mkarpenko folder should be if worldbox is installed on steam

That way you get the map you downloaded
