Sure! You post a picture and type "~c" and then a number. This number will represent how big it is. An iceberg map is 9x9, so if you put in a square picture and type "~c 9" it will be iceberg sized. You can go as high as you like, but the max before a good computer crashes is around 16x16.

They won't always come out quite like you want, so they'll need a LOT of work (believe me), but it's worth it if you want a rough shape of a landmass or geographic features.

The only area that isn’t survivable is western Iran, which is realistic

They’re pretty desert-ish, besides Levant

Mesopotamia in the map is plains

It’s in the very bottom corner

Hejaz isn’t in the map

It doesn’t go far down enough to be that area

The farthest south on the europe map is around Syria

And northern Syria is fairly similar to Sahara, which is accurate

Also, central Spain is somewhat accurate, if maybe exaggerated. The middle of Spain looks mostly like this

I don’t mean to be super critical, but I noticed a couple things with the map.

1. Zealand in the Netherlands is a little messed up. That might just be an issue with conversion, but I’d recommend fixing it.
2. The water color isn’t consistent, which can be a bit off-putting
3. There are random mountains in the middle of France.
   Overall good map, just some things I noticed that were a bit odd.

But like you should fullfill the places with no biome

It looks goofy with the tiles with no biome

Like the places around desert

You put arcane desert biome

And places next to grass

So, the areas that don’t have biomes are meant to represent areas that are rocky desert or low mountains. The dirt in the desert gives it a nice texture without taking away from the barrenness of the desert, and the dirt in the Zagros is to represent the mountains without making them uncrossable.

Question for @haughty wind, how do you make maps so fast? Everytime I log on I feel like you’ve posted another one, and I want to know your process.

I have a bit of a take on maps that I want y’all to hear:

I think the world geography maps have gotten really repetitive. There are still specifics territories, states, and maybe some small countries to be done. But overall the map downloads are just getting filled with boring continent stuff.

I think the game of WorldBox as a whole is supposed to be in creativity, and if people want to add some cool stuff to geography maps then that’s fine. But a lot of people are just remaking it and it’s overshadowing a lot of original concepts.

I mean in the map download section, there were 2 South America maps posted in a row. It’s not helpful for users. Search any continent in the steam workshop and you’ll find 100s of the same map.

I’m not saying most of the map creators who made these are bad creators. They’re very talented and the maps are still good. But, I think creativity is also something that’s important in map making.

What are your thoughts?

I agree, and I think the issue is that people are flooding the downloads with low quality maps. I don’t think that my maps are the best thing ever but I at least put some effort in, but I feel like a lot of people just try to pump out as many maps as possible in the hopes something sticks

In my case, i do YES use conversion, but the time to edit, rivering, and etc takes me about 2 hours

Yeah, I convert maps to get basic shapes, but 90% of the work is usually done by me. I feel like some people just throw a map in the converter, and slap it into the downloads server without any effort

You could always just find a satellite image of the landmass that matches the image proportions and make biomes like that (very hard to do because not many satellite images like that.)

the issue with maps like this is that they're topography maps and not biomne maps, so regions that you would think would fit savanna or jungle are more likely just regions of high/low altitude. I tend to create the map first without biomes using a height map, and they I apply biomes with a climate/biome/satellite map.

Not really a problem, all part of the process. Do heightmap first, then woods, rivers, ocean levels, biomes and done. All using different maps, never do it all using a single map
