honestly should make it a pinned message or something

-Download the Map Makers Mod by Nixon
-Open & copy the modded map
-Disable the mod in NCMS
-Make a new world of the same size & paste the modded map, make sure everything's proper
-Save your world & exit the game
-Reopen WorldBox & open the new save you just created

If everything's been done properly you've successfully un-modded your world.

It certainly is not possible to accidentally have mods on while creating maps. If there are, then there is something that will certainly tell you that some mods are on, or unless you're blind or don't have an eye, then probably. Don't put the trouble on the players, who have to wonder why a map they downloaded is giving them an error. And even if they find a way to remove the mods that are in the map, they can't know exactly what mods are in that map or how many there are. They can't enter a map with a modded creature and/or building without the mod that it came from.

I have it, and no, it's not a terrain map, only a heightmap which makes it difficult to convert it

CK3 changed how maps work, now there isn't an equivalent of a terrain.bmp file which you can easily convert into Worldbox terrain and biomes

It's why I still haven't finished it to this day after a whole year

You want to improve your map design? Look at the maps that aren't yours & see what they did to make their maps look nice.

It's nobody's responsibility to sit here & write a thesis on how to get better because, like others said, it's pretty self evident.

End of the day you only get better at something by doing it & sitting on discord getting mad at strangers for not wanting to give you step by step instructions on how to make a map in a video game is not improving by any stretch of the word.

There is your map and what many would say is a good map. There are many ways to make maps many styles you can pick and choose what's best for you, it could be chaotic, it could be simple or cartoonish, or you could go for extreme realism. If you want realism you need to study geography for a good week or 2 and apply that knowledge into your mapmaking.

If you however just want to be aesthetically pleasing then you just need to make maps over & over until you get there. I'd say analyzing what others did and trying to incorporate what they did into your own mapmaking would benefit you nicely as I'm still working on 1 map for the past couple weeks cuz i keep finding new things to do.

Over all it's repeatedly just trial, and error, and you will continuously get error until you are satisfied and others are satisfied

Now my personal advice on how to improve your map is to make it less circleish

And diversity in terrain

Diversity in terrain means making differently shaped landmasses with different types of features

A tip on how to make it less circleish is to use the various other brush types interchangeably until you get what u want, or stick to the single tile square brush and map put from there or use the 4 tile one it's your pick.

But again it's just trial and error

Actual trick is to use art programs like GIMP or Photoshop to make the base map image first (using the correct terrain colours used by the game so that conversion works properly), then convert it into a Worldbox map file by using the image to map converter
