So the year will turn to the 1900’s in terms of world age in my world,and I believe it is a bit bland and silly to still see fuedalism (probably) as the main form of government and kingdoms ruthlessly annexing each other, which is why I want to introduce:
-Republics! Every 4 years a random citizen of the kingdom (now Republic) will be elected as president to lead the nation, they will also very rarely declare war, only warring others in the sake of defense
-peace treaties and victory systems, whole annexation seems out, perhaps add some small scale processed treaties to give the ability to only take some of what victors in wars won, based on how much the victory was at (peace-ed out, capitulated, surrendered) and from there will take cities (or annex kingdoms) porportionate to the victory meter
Puppet states/duchies: tying back to the last suggestion, instead of annexation, they can puppet the state in order to sef govern themselves and not be unstable whilst holding some power over them (still a chance the puppets can betray them)
-this ties back to the already processing technology update going on, but after a very, very long time, we could see modern equipment sprawl rather than seeing silly swordsmen and archers when your world is at 2000 world age.
Purchasing of land- made by two different kingdoms and relying on the upcoming trading/currency system, perhaps purchasing land could come about of entire cities or cities’ land districts.
-maritime borders, self explanatory, but allow countries to have maritime borders into shallow and maybe medium seas in order to add to the upcoming naval aspect.
That’s all I could come up with,
Keep in mind these are most enjoyable for those with intelligent ppl and diplomacy enabled, and after approximately 200 years of letting them thrive

Shields. Shields can block arrows since ahem ahem archers are OP. To balance things out shields are added. Shield can be pierced through depending the quality of the shield and how powerful the archer's bow is like a bad shield would be pierced by a legendary bow. Also shield will have extra defense to melee attacks.

So here some ideas for civilizations.

I know I have said this a ton of times but skin for blacksmith and offical building. Also some sort of gradual improvement to the level of his weaponry, e.g higher his level better the craftmenship. He should earn exp by making stuff.

I think there should be pirates (I think vikings would match the mid evil era better but pirates r cooler)
- There should be captains of ships/fleets.
- They should have special weapons like cutlasses (maybe flintlocks dont kill me)
- The pirates should randomly attack towns and steal their gold.
- Pirates should fight/board other pirate ships and as long as they kill the captain the fleet will become theirs.
- There should be a random small (like 0.5 percent chance) chance that civilians from kingdoms become pirates.

be able to change the volume of the atmosphere by your choice, you can emit more carbon to your worlds atmosphere, which does a big effct to all animals and human mankind

More climate options using the heat up and cold tool. You’d start with the normal temperate climate, with three stages of heating up- subtropical (some palms and trees growing), tropical ( palms and jungle trees) and arid/savanna ( acacias and other shrubs). Same for cold climates, if you cool the climate from temperate you’d go to continental climate ( mix of pines and trees), subpolar ( evergreen forests and snow) and then tundras( some brush and ice)

When AI attack, they seem to all focus one target. It would be interesting if this was only done by veterans. Newer soldiers and civilians caught in combat should attack whatever target is closest to them. Same with buildings. Maybe certain traits like pacifist or wise cause civilians to flee combat.

Simple formations in battle would make them more visually interesting. A 4 by X grid for example. In combat , and perhaps globally there could be a rule that requires spacing for units. The formations wouldnCould that be accomplished by giving every unit collision?

The formations wouldn't need to be anything complex. Just spacing and AI that target the nearest foe rather than focusing on one target
I dont even necessarily think it needs to be more complex, but having something like collision would force the AI to deal with the fact that there are bodies in the way. More spread out melees may be able to form due to the space between the ai, archers will be less overpower, as the units will not be clustered so tightly. This doesnt need to be a complex change though, at least I dont think.
now that we have ships, the next update should be about improving the diplomacy of the civilizations. We need things like trading, alliances, envoys, and anything else that I forgot about.
More kinds of ships, specifically Battleships since seeing 2 Kingdoms fight for Naval Dominance for a Naval invasion would be Epic, this can further be expanded upon by making Deep/Medium Sea travel only possible by Boat so that Naval Invasions and Travel are a bit more Realistic
another thing that would help is larger cities sending resources to smaller villages on islands that can’t build mines. Also cities pay taxes to the king and the king uses those taxes to send ships and settlers to colonize more land

I can tell that naval combat mechanics is a very debated topic where how it would be operated without entering the renaissance era. However there is a classical naval battle strategy where two ships would charge each other, seeking to sink each other a metallic ram. One ship often sinks after this however when multiple shops are involved in combat two or more participating ships will shoot to eliminate the crew of the enemy. This is my suggestion and I hope it helps.

Alright, so since we've already got demons, I think you should also add gods, because why not?
Gods would vary in alignment, ranging from evil to good, and will choose which kingdom to reside in based upon that kingdoms own alignment.
A kingdoms alignment is determined by how many lives the kingdom has taken in the past year as a whole, and also by how many wars they've started.
More kills and more wars means a bad god will choose that kingdom to reside in. Less kills and less wars means a good god will choose to reside there.
Gods will also choose where to reside based on a kingdoms population. Why? Because, gods can grow stronger by being worshipped, so more people equals more power. But this boost in power is by no means permanent. When a resident who'd been worshipping a god dies, the god they worshipped loses power. The power a god loses when one of their faithful has passed is determined by how strong the faithful worshipped them. Was it half-assed or vehement? Basically was it level one faith or level ten faith? That will determine how much stronger or how less stronger a god will get.
If a kingdom that was previously of good alignment (killed less, started less wars) suddenly became bad (killed more, started more wars), that would anger the occupying god of good alignment, incurring their wrath. And, if a kingdom that was previously bad (killed more, started more wars) suddenly became good (killed less, started less wars), that would anger the bad god, incurring their wrath. A gods wrath is handled in different ways, depending on their alignment. If angered, a good god will take two pieces of armor from everyone, and lower their levels by three points, while a bad god will massacre some people and give any survivors the Cursed perks which prevents them from eating for three months. When those three months are up, the Cursed perk is removed.
When a god is happy, they can benefit your kingdom in many ways, besides protection. This will also depend on alignment. A good god will be happy if your kingdom remains at peace for a time. A bad god will be happy if your kingdom is the exact opposite for a time. When happy, a good god will, for example, give people better armors or weapons, fully heal or feed them, bring their levels up by a certain amount of levels, or bestow the Lightbringer perk, which can only be given to the current king of the oldest kingdom. This will ensure that the next child they bear is awarded with The Chosen One perk, which obviously gives them better stats, a full, randomized perk bar, and the ability to go past level ten. A bad god will give you the ability to revive from death as an undead, see better in the dark (add a real-time, day and night cycle for this to take effect), and give the current king of the oldest kingdom the Hellraiser perk, which will ensure the next child they bear is given The Dark Lord perk. Another cool thing about the chosen one and dark lord is, if either of the gods who gave them these perks are killed (gods can only be killed by other gods), they will become the next gods. So both the chosen one and dark lord can potentially become gods.
Lastly, for gods, you should give them champions. When we click on a resident, we should see that they are a champion of the god of their kingdom. Champions, of course, receive a power boost, as well as being able to call on the power of their god for a short period of time.
Oh, and good gods should have the power of creation, while bad gods have the power of destruction. Life and Death.
Also again, since we have demons, we should also have magic. So, everyone who practices magic would be holding a wand, and from that wand, a condensed beam shoots out. The beam can vary in color depending on the element. So a blue beam means water, and an orange beam means fire. We can also add a magic school where students can practice and master their magic.
Next, I think we should have dungeons. The way this would work is by having portals pop up in different locations on the map at abnormal times, and they'd vary in size and color, which determines their level. If a portal is left unattended for a certain amount of time, monsters will leak out from the inside and wreak havoc on the outside. The appeal of dungeons is that treasures and loot can be obtained from them. Some of the treasures found will be kept, or given to the kingdoms treasury. If someone who is holding treasure dies, it instantly goes to the kingdoms treasury.
Some other things I think you should add that don't require too much explaining is a Coliseum, guilds, a rewind button, and a way to revive fallen soldiers.
So yeah, that's about if for now. Not everything is fully fleshed out but thats because this only took me about two hours to write up, so if there's any improving left to be done, I'll leave it up to you guys.

buildings for villages and capitals like taverns and other public buildings that make the villagers happier and decrease the chance of them revolting. Also maybe ambassys to increase relations with the connected kingdom.

When diplomacy is disabled I dont think there should be random rebellions in existing kingdoms
And they are besieging the elf right now

There can be religious figures too who will give random buffs to everyone of that kingdom and extra diplomacy points to a kingdom. If the king has trait that opposes a trait that the religious figure has then there will be tension and it'll lower the diplomacy in that kingdom.
Forts: When a kingdom is fighting war(s) with another kingdom that's quite far, they'll make fortresses along the way. Fortresses allow defense, shelter, and food to the soldiers on their way. They also make it easy for transportation (I'm not exactly sure how it'll work but you get the idea)

A bigger use for gold. I have noticed that some of my cities will be stacked at 999 gold but be short other supplies. Maybe a richer society gets better craftsman for catapults or bigger houses. Or gold could by simple supplies like wood or ore.

a tolerance meter, what this meter does is that the longer a war goes on, the meter drops and people start calling for peace and also wars are expensive so gold and other resources will be another factor for kingdoms to make peace.
also to add onto the tolerance meter, when the meter is low and the war is still on going, loyalty will decrease therefore increasing the chance of a rebellion.
last thing the each city has a tolerance meter. Meaning some cities are more supportive of the war than others.

The village would probably be destroyed by the time people come. You didn't say 'immigrate' you said automatically add. That is even less realistic. Why would larger villages help smaller ones? They're wasting infantry and could lose a war they're currently in.

Interestingly enough, in my most recent sims, it seems the kingdoms are OVER capturing other nearby cities. It will be like a village with a pop. of 120 against another village with 120, and after only like 5-10 people from one village dies, that village immediately gets captured by the other side, and everyone in the village will immediately turn against their former kingdom

Anyways, I agree that abandoned villages are a big problem. But preventing warriors from killing every single person on sight would help solve this issue
For when magic is added (it sounds like its going to happen just a matter of time atleast on the trello it sounded like that) there could be a technology level for it just like blacksmiths and what materials they can use, early spells could be setting a 1-3 enemies on fire for 3-5 seconds dealing damage, or healing, intermediate level could be a small fireball that damages enemies in the radius, and expert could be the ability to smite enemies or bless allies.

i think that the developers should add an industrial age that happens late game (like when the world age reaches year 1000 or something) and it adds stuff like steamboats which are faster than normal boats, a new more urban looking house type that fits more people, factories, military armaments to make wars more devastating, new resource types, and maybe pollution that makes it so snow biomes start to melt raising the sea level (that last one is a stretch though)
