nah, got to toy with one tho from a joint near me
wasnt a fan
I’ve gotten healthy trigger time with it, I like it enough the only thing I will say though is this shit is front heavy as hell, they should have opted for slightly heavier stock to counter balance
I’ve shot both the 7.62x51 and the 6.8 variant
Doesn't that shit have the same problem that you had with the gen 1 MCX with the front rail flex
I remember the one that I had my hand on it was not doing hot
At least it’s not as bad as the fucking M110A1
The ones that were used in BRC had improved barrel clamps on it, sig reps installed them on all the competitor rifles
Hopefully that’s the standard when the fully field this
I don't even know what the fucking standard is going to be anymore because they keep changing it every like three months and I haven't followed it in a while
like I remember hearing that they changed it so that they're deleting the T handle Or they're deleting the side charger or something like that
and then I know they added a new rail for some reason
It’s technically still it’s in trial period, they have some time before they fully roll this shit out, but judging from the M17 program there’s gonna be some teething issues for sure
Isn't it weird that the commander is so calm, after he retired from the military just went straight into the board of directors for sig
man that's so weird
it was like right after the trial too right man, and how sig didn't need to do any of the trial parameters and kind of just got lowest biddered, and then chosen despite the fact that people were like "why don't we make a Glock the service pistol Because they actually added the safety that we wanted"
man so fucking weird
I know this is how contracts go i'm just still a bit salty
Idk whenever people show pics of their kits i keep seeing like 3-4 mags, except when Izu posts
95% of them are civilians. they don’t really need a full combat load
yea ig, to me some of them looked military issued
anyhow, still hate that I can't find a good way to set up mine
could put some of it on the belt, but then my rig is too low and getting mags out of left side is a bitch to deal with, plus for this training we are about to go on i'm the radioman and can't figure out where to put that radio
and where to put water
I keep 7 the mags are just in different places like my belt or in my rear pack
Something like this
Right side wouldn't work for me because here they're autistic about us only reloading with the dominant hand on the grip
when I reloaded holding the gun by the handguard in my left hand they got mad
If not for that i'd set up my stuff better
but yea this type of pouch would be dope
then I could just double stack it, and wouldn't need a side pouch
but it would be ass to go prone
for now I have a triple pouch in the middle and doubles to the either side
I run 3 on my chest, 2 in a double on my left cb, and one on my belt on the left
I don't carry a war load when I'm Larping
Unnecessary weight
If your vest interferes with your waist then it sits too low
I do
And then I have to take a knee every 5 minutes
😂
Needa do more cardio ngl
Most people outside the military here mimic the hi-speed guys who fly in with 4 mags, and fly out
I say return to jungle rigs
im trying to avoid this
Nothing wrong with doing it, but its not really viable if you're into prepping stuff
Yeah I'm trying to look more realistic with my kit
Because every field doesn't need 20 guys who were all CAG Navy Seal Devgru Ranger Green Berets
They do be looking cool though
It's also funny when guys try to mimic special forces by going super high speed and light when in reality special forces is rucking more than infantry most of the time
Just depends what flavor you pick
I'm talking mostly about green berets
Cause those guys will go out for upwards of weeks at a time and you've got like 5 dudes, often with no vehicle, sustaining themselves in the desert for weeks or more
Those rucks cannot be light
Im pretty sure theres a couple vets in here that are more well versed on all that stuff
Like ragged's slow typin ass

lmfao I'm just waiting for the paragraph telling me why I'm wrong
(Cause I'm a civilian, I fully expect to be wrong about this kinda shit half the time)
I have no dog in this fight because I’m no longer affected by it. Not my problem. My concern with it though is if they are doing this strictly for more reliable “stopping power”, significantly lowering the combat load in exchange for this stopping power doesn’t take into account that the majority of rounds fired in combat don’t meet targets and are for the purpose of fire and maneuver. Stopping power means nothing with those rounds fired. You just have significantly less readily available ammo on hand you’ve exchanged for meaningless stopping power
I like how the excuse is because of russian, and chinese body armor. But its been shown that they cant even fully equip their forces with level 4 plates
Can't even fully equip their forces with uniforms, plate carriers, helmets, guns, or plates*
Gotta do a quick mosin run
Your squad leader died so it's your turn with the gun from 1956
"Back in my day, we had a mosin and a stick. And we had to share the mosin!"
I want to see you running a mile with your gear
Not in a perverted way.
It'll take me like 20-25 minutes but I prolly can
Ok
I don't really carry that much
I'm not really
Ok
- physical stuff is hard for me medically which is why I didn't enlist
No you're good
I'm trying to figure out what's actually wrong with me and hopefully fix it
Still won't be able to enlist but I might be able to actually hit the gym and shit then
I have prescriptions that keep me from enlisting regardless (adderall)
Oh yeah
When I was a kid I wanted to be a ranger but now I realize ain't no way lmao
ADHD or ADD
adhd
If I were to enlist I'd have to stop taking it for like
2 years(?) before I can even start getting a waiver for it
Yeah I think it's the meds
Yeah even with the diagnosis you can enlist
I've heard the army is actually really good for people with adhd since everything's on a forced schedule
Part of what made me wanna join
A friend of my served full time but he couldnt fire a weapon...
Since he had some psych affecting meds for his back
military always needs support staff ig
Yeah that's like teasing
Shooting is fun and they're just rubbing it in that he didn't get to lol
Yeah ..
But now he has been at the commercial shooting ranges and subscribed for memberships
He has not been on meds for like 15 years
I haven't shot in like
maybe 2 years now
I need to go out again, I've got a lot of 5.56 I need to get through
your 12 wdym you have a lot of 5.56 to go through wtf
...what?
If I get it higher then it'll be annoying to reload
Since magswill be too high
Got pics?
so i got a bit of an issue the crye dump pouch has reversed Velcro for the JPC but i dont think my MMAC aero (still in the mail to) has that so i was wondering what the best course of action would be. should i get the correct velcro sides and just glue them on or should i take a seem ripper to it and then sew the velcro back on in the correct way. using this dump pouch is kinda a non negotiable cause it has features that are very desirable to me so just returning the dump pouch and buying something else is off the table so if yall have any good ideas or of you can add something to the ideas i previously mentioned please do.
You're hanging a dump pouch off your carrier?
Yes
I don’t like belts
I know it’s not very socially acceptable right now to not like belts but I just don’t like them. I find them be a hassle
Plus, it’s not necessarily just a dump pouch when I’ve ran dump pouches before it usually ends up getting used for everything from carrying water to carrying extra ammo. It’s just an extra compartment on my plate carrier that I can reach instead of putting storage space in places where I can’t reach like the rear of the cummerbund or on my rear plate bag.
Understood. What about a molle Velcro panel?
The way the front of the carrier is set up is there’s the kangaroo pouch with three mags and a BFG 10 speed on top so I don’t think that would really work either. Plus, I don’t think the Velcro would still be oriented correctly the hook faces out. And the loop faces in which is the opposite of how it’s normally supposed to be.
It’s cryes dump pouch for the JPC so of course there has to be some degree of proprietary bullshit unfortunately it’s just a really really nice pouch and I want to use it on my new carrier
I think I’m gonna have to end up doing some funky mods to it to make it work which isn’t a big deal it’s just a little annoying
I Need to go buy some Velcro material
Need to buy it anyway for a custom job I’m doing on my buddy’s Mich2000
I mean even competitions are often only 1 max 3 reloads per stage. Soo yeh.
Try plates at all... Heck some ruskis were using plywood/cardboard
There are front dumps that go under your placard/front panel
I've considered trying one
Indeed
I tried one once. And knocked myself in the nuts. Never again
Once I finally get a GP for my bund I might pick up a front dump to try since my belt dump isn't super accessible
How low does your carrier hang lmao
The dumo pouch hangs
I use a maxpedition dump pouch on my belt. Folds up to nothing. I love it
With a draw string
yeah I guess it might hang lower than I thought, my dangler only covers my gut but I still feel like the dump wouldn't hang low enough to nut tap me
I'm planning on picking up an arbor arms dump with the mag insert
I don't know what that is
It does. Trust.
And it isn't pleasant
Plus the amount of times I'm prone and crouched. Shit will spill. Dig into my stomach. Not great
That’s interesting
The downside is it costs like $70 with the mag insert
Oh I like this
Worth it imo
Doubles as extra accessible magazine holder
You can of course fill it with magazines lol
I wanna replace my dump of unknown branding with it
I loaded mine with frags in Gaza
I don't reload often so my dump is mainly for my grenades
My pants nearly fell off
Since once the shell is popped you can't really toss it back into the pouch
What do you mean
I'm talking about airsoft
I use thunder devils which puncture a co2 cart to blow the shell open
Once it's popped it's too wide to reindex into the grenade pouch (plus the loose pins) so I use my dump for them
what about them is a hassle?
I just don’t like having to think about it it’s one more piece of kit to spend money on and worry about
i mean sure, but it’s an incredible piece of kit
i used to think belts were overrated too until i built one out to use
from using dumps, having extra medical and your emergency reload magazine being there and your sidearm, it’s incredible
I will build one out eventually but Im waiting till I’m a bit more financially stable
plus it takes things off your vest and moves it to your waist
Also not sure what belt I want to get yet
don’t have to break the bank honestly. esstac inner with an S&S outer
like 100 bucks
Fair enough
I got my aws smu for like $65 secondhand from a friend
If you're a twink he might still have one
They retail for like $160
Isn't this entirely counterintuitive to what the dump pouch is suppose to be
Why turn your dump pouch into a mag pouch when you can just have mag pouches and a dump pouch

Adding another mag pouch would take real estate on the belt
Not an issue for most people but if you're carrying a lot then it can be a problem
I don't think it's counterintuitive because I'm pretty sure it doesn't actually take up space inside of the dump
It comes into an issue when you can't actually use the dump pouch and how you now have a weighted dangler
Wdym?
Make space or simply use a 6 mag pouch instead of a 3 mag insert
I don't think it prevents use of the pouch in any way
Takes up space in the hole
Going to be fumble fucking even more to put mags in
Whole thing is a case of weird niche stuff that'll never make it anywhere
You wouldn't use it as a dump pouch if you're using it as a mag pouch
At least ideally
For the exact reasons you mentioned
What's on your belt?
Not enough for space to matter
yet, that is
By the time my kit is finished I intend to have a full war load between carrier and belt
I have one ar magazine. One frag pouch one TQ pouch one dump pouch one ifak and a quick draw bandage and TQ
And I still have space if needed
Belt will be (so far) ifak, 2 mag pouches for both m4 and pistol, pistol holster, dump, a retention lanyard (larp), multitool, and maybe other things if I end up realizing I need something
Oh and a grenade
Maybe a nalgene pouch, depends on if I have space on my plate carrier to put that instead when I do get it
ive looked into the qore ice plates as well
Let me put you onto something that I was issued that's amazing
https://atstacticalgear.com/slimline-100-oz-hydro-carrier/
Weirdly affordable
I have a camelbak but not sure how many oz it holds
It was made locally, super small company
110% worth a pickup
nvm i guess someone threw my camelbak away
it was still in its packaging and in the bag they put it in at the surplus store so I guess it looked like a trash bag
What kinda bladder would you recommend for it
Or does it come with one?
I highly doubt it would since it's so cheap but
It doesn't come with one, it's just the pouch. Ats does have bladders for it on the website, I didn't know they had bladders when I was issued the carrier. I ended up getting something at at the px that fit perfectly
Alright
You put keymo on her quick
Thank you, might look into one
Np bro
Still kinda interested in the qore ice plate
Especially for days as hot as yesterday
Had sweat running from my balls to my legs. Haven't sweat as much since marching season
oh god i meant to post that on the airshit channel lmao
Lmao airshit cringe
Had me fooled
i got my hands on a licensed version of this replica
Slap some ice up in the camelback
Running the qore under the back plate is what attracts me about it
Since you can basically just have a block of ice right up against your back
It’s just extra weight
I haven't really had chafe with my carrier
Just drink more water, and wear an actual honest to god plate carrier that’s airable you will be hot either way
Just be thankful you aren’t gonna be wearing it for days on end
People talked shit about my spiritus otb but she was hella breathable
The entire back of my spiritus lv119 plate bags are quick dry material
I love it
yeahhh dont do this. Cold water is worse for hydration than ambient temp
Have you tried those filter everything straws
Ice goes in the camelback because I don't want to drink hot water
Milspec camelbaks have great insulation
Water never gets hot
But I also put ice lol
Yeah camelbaks been there such a long time it just can't be shit
No other company compares
I was given a condor bladder the day I went into Gaza. It exploded before I got out of the hummer

Just looking at the comment count i can tell hes getting absolutely raked over the coals
"come and take it libruls" roflmao
Lmao
I'm tempted to call it cultural appropriation
black plate carrier
**** shooter kit
Jesus Christ
I THOUGHT I LOOKED BAD
its not a DD rifle, not a shooter kit
Jokes on you, I'm behind 5 types of diabetes.
Idk they might have a budget cut
Nashville was a keltec
fair point

So, I said a few days ago I’d try to get my hands on some plates to punch.
I was not able to get ahold of ESAPIs for cheap enough to justify shooting them, but I did speak with the local distributor of the Steels I wear (yes not the most optimal armor ever) and they offered me a free side plate so long as it was returned post testing with a video. So I’ll have that data soon
I am only hitting them with shit they aren’t rated for in .308
got a mint PASGT with pamphlet and inspection slip for 85
He dont need armor, armor slows him down and he needs to be mobile
Thats prob satire but if it aint then you clearly underestimate the russian army
HAHAHAHAHAHA'
ukraine
lmfao
No politics
Halo 2 is life!!!
I do have videos but they need editing
hes chubby by hes not wrong
You don’t need to shoot ESAPI, you need to shoot what ESAPI is rated to stop. Until then the field test holds no weight. ESAPI is better than any wearable steel in regards to stop/weight ratio
The 168gr threw the plate pretty hard, roughly 5 yards
I don’t doubt that, those are rounds it’s not rated to stop that it was hit by
More so proving that kid who said you’d shatter every rib in your body via a single .308 to be a little exaggerated
Otherwise it’s cool to get to shoot shit
Here’s it getting thrown for anyone who thinks it’s cool
This was 168gr Hornady Black A-Max.
2700 fps
I hear this from fat mfers all the time
Like no dude you needed to be mobile 150lbs ago
I still think you’d shatter ribs. Energy is transferred differently through steel compared to advanced ceramics
There’s a terminal ballistic reason certain materials are chosen over others. Weight is not the only deciding factor
Even with an anti spall coating you're going to get fucked by spalling if you're wearing steel.
Im sure this was argued about earlier, but honestly.
blunt trauma, inertia and energy transfer, spalling, weight, etc
ceramics are kind of objectively better imo
Either way to each his own. I’ve seen personally what ESAPIs capabilities and failings are in combat. I’ll take an ESAPI over anything until something better is proven itself
yeah everything i say is from an armchair operator civilian perspective lol
Id just rather not have a piece of spalling go into my neck, and make me bleed out if I can help it

Dumb opinion
it's part of The Experience™
(the experience is bleeding out)
Bleeding out with the homies
homie puts a tq on your neck to save you
Didnt some CHAZ/CHOP kids do that during the riots or something lmao
I have no idea but it sounds like it'd happen lol
Don’t mention that shithole. I live about 90 minutes south of it. Wish it didn’t exist
God that was probably so fun to deal with
Needs to become like escape from LA..the only law and order is snake plisken
As long as I can catch a sick wave like he did
Only thing you catching there is your car stolen or perhaps an OD..voluntary or involuntary
or herpes/hiv/etc
That’s just a given. Doesn’t even need a mention. It’s as sure as birth and death
Think so even with some nice trauma pads?
Absolutely
If you get squacked with a 30hate
you're breaking something
I’ve seen first hand the blunt trauma still present with ESAPI+ soft Kevlar liner.
Heck I took a ricochet in the vest in 07. I would hate to feel even that against steel
yeah plates arent meant to make you immune to bullets, just to keep you from being unsaveable
According to the local distributor of these plates, he’s been going out of stock with how many are being purchased and sent over to Ukraine, told me they’ve claimed some dude caught a 54r to the rear plate at an angle and it put him on his face instantly but he was alright.
I’ll have to ask if there are any more accounts of them actually taking rounds in the field and what sort of damage is still received.
Believe what you want. It’s your money, your life. I wouldn’t trust anything other than ESAPI
I mean the math says he's more protected now
you would. because steel doesn’t dispense the energy, it transfers it. when ceramics break, that takes out most of the oomph of the round hitting the plate and dispenses a huge portion of its energy. meanwhile steel simply transfers the energy to the plate. sure it will hit with less energy due to physics but it’s the difference of getting punched by 30% of the energy and 90% of the energy
Wouldnt it be more like that lmao
All the fragments would just ride the plate directly into his face, especially without the anti splash coating
Yeh I actually reference one meme pic that looks similar but tbf depending on the occasion you dont always need body armor because for the same weight you could carry extra food water ammo etc
Sloped armour update
Thats what the protective neck fat is for
Rip face
I agree
I just bought first suppressor and all the mounting systems and shit are so confusing
8/10
What kind of AR mag pouch is ?
Looks like the two .308 hits completely saturated the ability of the spall liner
A significant amount of the energy is actually expended to deform (and heat) the projectile itself, in both steel and ceramics. It's not a 1 to 1 transfer of kinetic energy.
Yeah the first 2 were negated by the anti spawl coating, the third threw the coat off the steel
All of which were rounds it wasn’t rated for
I'd be surprised if the steel didn't stop basic 308 rounds,
You only really see it outright failing against very high velocity soft core threats like m193, or with hardened core projectiles
The spall liners failing after two shots of 308 is a rather repeatable observation though, regardless of manufacturer
I loaded these two into 300blk, so significantly slower than 308, (probably about half the speed) and they still nearly perforated a 3/8th steel target.
Well ya but I’m speaking in terms the transfer properties that still occur will be significantly different between the two with the ceramics being better overall
Yes, since you both distribute the force over a longer time as the backer and plate deform, and disperse energy through that deformation.
I can’t tell you the science behind all of it. Someone much smarter than I made those decisions. I can just say that I’ve took a ricochet in the vest in 2007 Iraq. It had lost a lot of steam and I knew it hit me but no damage. I’ve seen the effects of multiple hits on ESAPI in combat. Anyone that says they would choose steel over ESAPI is just dumb.
Looks like one of the kydex mag pouches cops use
thx
There's a reason every first world nation moved to ceramics
ceramics break cleanly which absorbs more impact than just transferring it through to you like steel does
And when the hard steel breaks, it spalls
One of my TLs side plates had stopped an AK round and he didn’t even know it for a few days later when he found a small hole in the side carrier and spent round in the bottom.
It's why helmets are meant to break when they're hit, that company selling its "indestructible helmets" has the wrong idea since that'll just transfer the impact through to your cranium rather than breaking and absorbing the shock
@grand mountain it's less the matter of how it breaks and more the fact that it does crack and a deform, which absorbs a decent bit of the kinetic energy instead of transmitting it as you say.
the clean breaks is about the spalling
not the force
thats why i mentioned that
Helmets are a little bit different because you actually have some standoff distance, so you actually can get away with steel helmets with good padding systems
it breaks cleanly rather than turn into shrapnel
I'm honestly not sure what you're getting at, steel doesn't deform at all, and it shatters the projectile, whereas ceramics crack, and absorb the projectile itself with the help of the backer
it’s shit like that that guys are checking themselves and each other after every mission nowadays
Ya even a quick check I don’t think would have done anything at the time. He just happened to see a small tear in his vest by happenstance then find that rando round floating in bottom of carrier pocket.
So much random stuff occurs like that. While we were operating out it a large fob in Baghdad we were living out of a tent with a wooden floor. One morning one of the other SLs comes and says look at this shit. He shows me an AK round perfectly nose down stick in the wood flooring with a perfect hole in tent roof above it. Right at head level. 4/6 inches to the right it would have him him square in forehead. He always slept on his back and when you woke him it was at a distance. He always sat up like Dracula while swinging.
This was like his third Iraq trip in as many years. Super spun but he was an excellent combat leader. He was in Fallujah with the 1st Cav in November 04.
next pair of shit old nvgs arrived
gen 1ish instead of the others that are 0s
and sketchy russian rechargable batteries
U got Cheeto dust all over them man
look at this guy's Knight tattoo
Mmmm asbestos!
na OOOOLD foam
im redooing the case and going to probably mod them onto a real helmet not that god awful strap
go fuck yourself cag boy
Now I have some pretty questionable tattoos but that’s just horrible
Do it
🤓
@fluid root do you have any ink
Skullllll
Always people without tattoos that got the most to say
About what
and? that’s what 90% of tattoos have been for the longest time lmfao
i literally plan on getting an entire sleeve done of just art from shows i love
@snow scarab he just jelly
i guess so
I actually have one of the body armor platrs that was issued to British police officers during the troubles, specifically to protect them from the Barrett m82 of the south Armagh sniper
Boomer ass take
true!
get a U.S. Navy tattoo and claim you were in the marines at a VFW kinda horrible or have a random ass actor tattood on you kinda horrible
I only have 3. All having personal meaning to me. One of the WTC for 9/11 when I joined. One honoring my rifle squad after my Iraq 2007 and a Isaiah 6:8. Can’t do random stuff personally
I'll give you that one
That tat was some boot shit
reminds me of the time my brother got a pineapple grenade like this on his knee
Only boot tattoo I have is a ruck with legs I got sometime after passing the RPAT at SOI
I'm convinced if you serve you're legally required to have at least 1 boot tattoo
I've got an old asbestos filter in my room. It's neat looking but I should probably put it in like a ziplock or something.
i have liek 3 laying around
I get made fun of for my army tats
In Israel it's frowned upon
The backstory behind that sign is anti-boot as fuck
You guys are smoking crack with some of these takes
And some of these tats too
I don’t have any but tat bashing is mad cope
That said a lot of these were genuinely trash
Tattoos are only cool if there’s a cool story behind it for me
Just going out and getting art injected to your skin kinda defeats the purpose for me
There’s a limited space on your body for it so you might as well fill it with achievements
Tattoos only matter to those who have them.
Anyone who gets a tat to impress others is a looooooooser
he speaks the truth
He does
im not super into tattoos but i do wanna get this on my arm once i actually have money
Did crye ever make 6x8 side plate pouches Cause I swear I’ve seen them
i dont think so all im seeing is 6x6 side plate poutches. Although i could be wrong i just did a quick google search
they make 6x9s
Nice. Could incorporate into a future sleeve too
personally not really interested in a sleeve but you do make a good point
Pretty sure it's mainly meant for that fancy new visor the armies developing
It's not just power, but data as well
I’m getting these in soon and I don’t like the pouch they are coming with
Nothing wrong with the actual pouch just not the color I use
Mount on inside of cummerbund
I know
That's what I did cuz I could only get my bags in multicam. Had to hide it lol
Do people mount thier side plates outside the cummerbund
Yes
💀
Old guys, still probably fine though
The side plates are small enough that it's actually nearly impossible to get enough leverage or even drop them hard enough to crack them
Why not just get a structural cummerbund that has the plate pockets built in
Can’t do that with a JPC
Yeah I traded my eagle industries map pack for them and the plate pockets
I just realized i probably shouldn’t put pics of those up with their serial numbers still showing
Fixed it
Bro those things are nearly 20 years old, CIF isn't going to be coming after your ass
Idk man…CIF might try to milk this man for a few pennies
Wonder how much some poor chap had to pay for losing these...
Double fair market value at least
These things have barely started getting issued
NG ihps
Ya that one looks to have manufactured date of 3/24?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Im pretty sure that plate would have caused more problems then prevented.
If it stopped the round the evergy transfer would have turned your insides into mush, and if it went thru the plate it would be like having a blender running inside your internal organs
Spookies emergency ration
At the 200yd standoff it was designed for, a hit would mean hospitalization, but a good chance of survival
How do they tap? You've mainly just got to worry about delamination
Don’t have them in hand yet
Even then it's not a guarantee that it would fail if it is either way
Your a dick 😂
Man someone thought I was wearing A2CU’s when I was wearing my crye g3 fields lol
huh? lol
A2CU the flight uniform
ah
se a bunch of that lately. had three colonels wearing them sit like two seats away from me at lunch
Were they even aviation lol
It’s easy to just write a FLIPL
And consider it a loss
Then sell it
Happens all the time
You still pay for it
Hence the FLIPL
It’s better than the MICH/ACH it’s replacing I’m sure. It’s better cut and lighter.
Cuz all those rounds you mentioned above pen them as well.
Helmets aren’t supposed to stop most rounds they are supposed to protect you from shrapnel and artillery
Exactly
Funny enough I call head injuries distracting injuries as a medic
No matter what helmet you wear you are in for a bad day and there’s nothing anyone can do for you at the point of injury
Lost two brothers to AK rounds right thru their NOD bracket in 07 and 08. Not sure why ppl shit on helmets for not stopping what they aren’t built to stop. Gotta love ignorance
The guys that have the warped helmets as a souvenir from it stopping a round is the exception not the rule
Yeah glancing blows are lucky but they will still cause serious TBI
In the long run
@old portal I remember awhile back someone tried to argue with me about battlefield injuries here
I was like bruh
Hell I got a TBI from a dismounted IED blast in 07. Just from hitting my head on ground so hard wearing the MICH. probably would have died without it. Lucky it only knocked me out.
What’s hilarious is I feel safer wearing a hard hat rather than an ACH in garrison
For jumps I do bump helmets
Damn
I’ve had some odd encounters here. One guy I won’t name DM me calling me a liar and a fake claiming I couldn’t have been promoted as quick as I say. They clearly aren’t aware of how promotions worked during GWOT
If only he knows, a lot of surge dudes rose up in high positions because they stuck around
Those MF’s got battlefield promotions
Things were much much different 20 years ago. 7 in 7 was pretty common at least in the infantry during my time in
During the height of GWOT
People don't realize how even an AT mine feels like from distance. Demoing them typically makes men silent.
10 kgs of TNT is a blast
The MGS 105 would rock you. Our brigade was first to deploy them in 07. They did some solid work for us when needed
2 canister shells into an Iraqi compound wall set a nice breach you could nearly drive a car thru
I think they have different ordnance weights. 500,1000,2000 or something but not certain
It’s funny how when I was a scout I got trained on the MGS only for them to take it away
Ya I think they are all gone now. They were good I thought but maybe not in todays threat environment
We have some in Benning at the 316th Cav motorpool
And the Cav Armor collection Museum
We rarely did company sized ops in Iraq, mostly platoon, but if it was there it was doing the lords work when we made contact
Can’t believe it’s gonna museum now
Yeahhh
The booker is the future
Bradley with a 105
I never thought I’d see the day
Hell the new Ambulance is on a brad museum
The Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) is a U.S. Army program to replace the M113 armored personnel carrier and family of vehicles. AMPV is a sub-project of the Next Generation Combat Vehicle program.
In 2014, the U.S. Army selected BAE Systems' proposal of a turretless variant of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle to replace over 2,800 M113s in ser...
If we took contact from a structure we suppressed and leveled with Apaches or fast movers. None of this fallujah entering contested structures. Not worth it. If we made contact in a structure. We fought our way out and leveled it
We send in portable drones and set up ambushes rather than going in buildings now
That’s what they are changing now
No more going into houses blind
That’s crazy with the drones and such. My last deployment out battalion got a couple of these GMAV drones or something to support us
Looked like a flying 5 gal bucket or something.
Ya everything we did was blind clearing. Found way too many HBIEDs doing that. Fortunately we never det any on accident
Here she is
Looking back looks more like a flying air compressor

Prox Dynam...
@old portal
It’s so tiny
It has GPS also controlled via the ATAK phone
Crazy how much stuff evolved
We have our phones on our plate carriers now we could see the maps and stuff
I first used ATAK in 2021ish
It’s better than the freaking JBCP’s we had inside the vehicles
I was running a personal Garmin with a paper sat image map still. Numbering structures with map markers. Ancient now
We still do that
Good to know it’s still around
We still do paper land nav too haha
Good to know that skill still exists
Even if tech evolves we still gotta practice basics
Map compass protractor red lense and go
I was miserable enough doing ranger school land nav a total of 6 times last year
Goddamn 2.5k movements per point sucks
Ya that’s some good humps.
Legit missed my points at times because I refuse to dead reckon
All the way
Lots of erosion ditches and shitty terrain on this side of Benning
Also rolling hills
And disappearing streams
Was about to ask how terrain was there. Enough variation for terrain association? Lewis land nav was a pain. always seemed too flat
Korea land nav was nice with all the varying terrain
Both. I was at Casey but spent a lot of time up at DMZ around the old Camp Greaves before it was given over to the ROK in I think 04
Casey and hovey is still alive and kicking
Camp castle is just a motorpool, camp mobile is a UAS airstrip because of flood damage years ago
Bro the fights at the Hovey/Tokori gate were epic in 03/04. Literal drunken stabbings at the old 1/9 Manchu rock
Camp Jackson the old NCOA and KATUSA academy is closed
Camp stanley and Camp red cloud is too
I always heard they were going to close down Casey/Hovey and move them far south
It’s not a perm duty station anymore tho right. Isn’t it like a brigade 9 month rotation or something?
They did for the most part but Casey still gets rotations
Half the rotation brigades are In Casey
The other half is chilling in Humprheys
8th army and USFK got moved to humphreys
And yongsan is mostly closed
Ya Yongsan was the place to be in 03/04...cant believe its dead now
I remember stacking C4 on these in battlefield 4 and ramming them into tanks. Never thought they were ever really used.
Such a weird housing, never seen those before lmao
They run thermal overlay?
Damn bro wtf hahaha
You’re one of them battalion boys aren’t you squidward
Dude that compass is so sick
I work at ranger school not regiment
Hell yeah dude! Looks super interesting
Do you do any of the specific phases? Ik there’s benning, mountain, and Florida
Benning
These days I mainly work RSLC
Always thought the ranger training cycle was super sick, and it also looks hard as hell haha
It’s awesome I get to see a lot of cool stuff and play with some cool toys but it’s hard work
Ya sounded like a damn flying weedeater at night...had day/night thermal sights...controlled by toughbook
bro that thing is wild
Always heard the best way to do ranger school was not jump qualified...less chance of injury drop out
Does jump school fuck you up that much?
I dont think ive heard from a single person that they went through fine with no injuries lmfao
Kinda, shit happens statistically to with 300+ jumpers
Me on the ATAK lol
If you do exactly what your told you won't get injured from a jump
Its probably just the wear on your knees/back over time that really gets ya.
Believe it or not it's from how much running and rucking airborne units do. Injuries from jumps are quite rare. Literally do as instructed and PLF correctly
My back is fucked to hell from my time at bragg
Looks fun ngl
Majority of the folks that get injured here are from improper PLF’s and just first time jumpers
And also that stupid creek at fryar
You go for straight up airborne? or was it just a school for ya
My parents wouldn't sign off on me enlisting without airborne in my contract
Ik some people go through it as a school, and some people stay for the 11th-108th
My best friend just retired from 5th group about year and half ago
We were team leaders together. Separated by a PCS, ended up back together at Lewis. Deployed together as E6 then I ETS. He went SFAS. Pinned E7 in Q course
Man this is taking forever
And here I am collecting up all the civil war and Wild West guns I can get my hands on
Join the army
a lot of people also don’t realize a decent sized guy in full kit with a ruck can set off an AT mine
Here you go
Yeah the momentary impulse might trigger it
Darwin stuff to try
no im talking like based on your weight. most AT mines are like, 350-400 lbs to set off
Yes but even if you are lighter than that
Weight is after all newtons and lets say a 130 kg combination (guy plus kit) plus the momentarily impact can easily exceed that
Not to mention jumping on it
Even if your mass is less than needed
Wouldn't try.
Anyway, the whole point was about people ignoring the blast effect
10 kgs of TNT leaves a 2 meter deep and 4 meter wide crater into sandy woods terrain
It doesnt destroy a battle tank, it destroys the track system at most. Typically damages it at least
tank no but IFV/APCs like the BMP-1/2/3, BTR etc yes
plenty of vids of ruski light armor being vaporized by hitting (often friendly) mines
I'm on a reservist march rn
Only 5kg in a bag, jeans T shirt
Fuck that is tough for peasants alone
But as a Squad leader have to be the best example they have
7km at least to go
It's like 20c tough for finnd
Gear, weapons OSP
I hope I don't have to carry anybody again
Mosquitos are the worst
Point being civ gear is BAD on the woods
Here’s an AT mine I almost det in some palm groves in 2007. We were clearing through the groves and I split my squad with me taking point with my B team. Was following a small deer path through tall grass when something caught my attention on ground as I was stepping. Stopped mid step and realized I was about to step on improvised crush wire. Followed the crush wire to hastily covered AT mine next to path. Broke off the crush wire and marked it to come back and destroy later. Me and our weapon squad leader when we came back to retrieve.
Night kit (Ignore the spray paint respirator it’s a place holder for a real gas mask)

I don’t understand why airsoft people gravitate towards the stuff they do
You can buy real gear for just as cheap if not cheaper
Chicoms, FLCs, dozens of obscure foreign camo patterns that look cool
Guaranteed cheaper than whatever temu/amazon hybrid that black thing is

That bitch empty, and it’s a night kit
black is literally worse for night time than camo
^
your shadow will be too deep for your surroundings and stick out
just because its dark outside doesnt mean everything is black
you'll be silhouetted against everything around you lmfao
black evil colors because i saw special forces using them on tv! 😈
Black is mostly never good in ano camoflauging pattern
black only works when it's not solid black
Especially if black is pretty much your entire camo basis
and even then it's rare
multicam black kits can look good but they're hard to pull off
Just use multicam like a normal person
Black overall rarely occurs in nature
Youd have worse time spotting someone wearing red spots on their camo than someone wearing black spots or dark gray/gray ones
thats why the blackwater bearded iris is my favorite flower
As rare as black is in nature, it sure is beautiful when you do see it
daily
Grass
Is that like a kestrel wind instrument for a DZ?
Yeah I’m at the DZSO mound
jesus fuckin christ
I switch between the two for Airsoft. Black for indoor cuz edgy and multi cam for outdoor cuz it makes sense. If I ever had to do real steel stuff multi cam is the way to go 100%
I responded to the wrong person.
💀
I was going for the professional all black look that swat and such use
GL man! hope you made it well
it did not work
It was one of if not the worst Airsoft kit I have ever seen
just use multicam if you want to look "professional"
Finally someone sees the true kit
Facts that’s what I was saying. Multicam for professional. Black for edgy speedy sad boi kit
just dont be fat or you're in meal team 6
but that goes for 90% of camos
At the same time don’t be to thin like a stick
Put some respectable amount of mass on
If ur gonna post that shit it belongs in #airsoft
Me
Nothing I had was airsoft tho, I was just sharing my temp setup
And just remember your still on about this from 2 photos 5 hours ago
everyone starts from somewhere
if its airsoft i cant even fault anyone, i like seeing peoples before and after pictures
wtf its almost summer and theres still snow where you are?
Yes 💀
where is this
Tbf this is the mountains, in town it’s kinda just patchy snow
I moved here to escape the southern summers
The sky also acts weird sometimes
i could hit u with an insane before and after
sent mine in the airsoft channel
the glow up was crazy
theyre aight
they work
some guy here has them and likes them
personally id go the pvs14 route
one of us one of us one of us
thats a steal of a deal for a tula in todays market
about a month ago i paid 400 for a type 56, but thats very much an anomaly in the sks market
its at the latest a 66 year old gun
tula stopped producing them in 58'
izhevsk and tula SKS's have great stocks, probably the best out of any other country
theyre all fully milled too
Tarkov didn't pay the server bill
real. i’m finally happy i can give people shit about being skinny. i’m not victim weight anymore
so stupid they cost even that much
asked this on r/tacticalgear too
what do you guys think is the 'vanilla ice cream' of tactical brands?
like, the most basic
good opinion
5.11 is the fedboi uniform
Really? I've seen their stuff in FarCry 5. Isn't it a outdoors brand
Hey that's like something I wanna get. Any ideas for waterproofing for wet and hot climates?
black trash bag
unironically
thats what ive used before to great success
there are more professional pack liners but a garbage bag basically does the same thing
Ohh okay that sounds so more useful than another product lol thanks 👍
Condor
100%
Outdoor and tactical. They make everything from every day packs, daily clothes or tactical uniforms and plate carriers
I would have to agree with the other guys 5.11 is the obvious choice condor is a close second
The backpacks ain’t half bad I’ve been using a rush 12 as my every day bag for the past two years and it’s held up OK
Was a bit more expensive than I think it’s actually worth, but overall, not a bad bag wouldn’t do anything serious with it but for every day shit it’s not bad
what? no. not even close
nobody who does any actual work wears a 5.11 uniform
O_o holly you US for sks to be that expensive
5.11 is for men with fragile masculinity who are obsessed with making everything in their life "tactical"
yeah
Same chuds who actually bought that tactical baby carrier slop
All I'm saying is, dogs are also great at taking shits lol
The rush 100 has genuinely been a good pack for me
There’s better out there for sure but it’s by no means a bad bag
If you have any criticisms of It id love to hear them lol
…after I wake up tomorrow
They're amazing bags. I have several. Held up to everything. But they're not great for backpacking. Theyre very heavy and soak up moisture. Even with a cover.
A couple of my guys have them. They aren't horrible.
yeah and that’s fucking stupid too
SKS cost like 300 bucks 6-7 years ago
not really lmfao
nobody should be paying over 500 bucks for a subpar shittily made rifle from the 40s
Man, I really want to upgrade to duels from my pvs 14
My buddies pair of duels weight less or about the same as my pvs 14 minus the battery pack on the duels
katanas?
Lull21
Get thermals instead
You don't require a battery pack
But it doubles as counterweight
Right
Its perfectly balanced binos with pack on the back
Shitty? The sks is many things but shitty isn’t one of them
no it’s definitely shitty
Elaborate
wood stock, not very accurate, 10 rounds, 7.62x39, shitty irons, meh short stroke system
It’s just as accurate as any other 20” 762x39 weapon system
It’s a cold hammer forged chrome lined threaded barrel
Almost all ak pattern weapons have pinned barrels
It’s a high quality weapon, they were cheap only because there were so many of them
The wood stock isn’t bad either
BaCk In My DaY tHeY wHeRe 5 FoR a DoLlAR
Wish we could go back to the days of cheap ass surp rifles
The ruger mini-30 is the only other gun on the American market that roughly matches the sks
And its a 1400 dollar weapon
Cue video of mini 14 fucking exploding
It’s such a stupid argument when people say that a sks shouldn’t be worth more than it was 20 years ago
The actual objective price ceiling of them is around $1200 because it has almost no competitors on the American market
Before any historical value
There is no other chrome lined cold hammer forged milled receiver wood stocked semi auto 762x39 rifle gripped weapon on the market but the sks and mini30
It’s definitely more robust than the mini30 too, and undoubtedly lasts way longer
And you get the bayonet, cleaning kit, and usually a sling included
time to make one
Not to mention $500 20 years ago doesn’t even have the same buying power as $500 today
When you calculate inflation into the mix, $500 in 2004 had about the same buying power as ~$850 in 2024
Prices today aren’t very far fetched (although I wouldn’t mind the days of sub-$500 surp rifles again)
That said a genuine all-tula for $500 in 2024 is a come up
Thank you for coming to my ted talk
Wow
Glad you were okay
Is that Halo words
who makes y'alls favorite decently priced packs. preferably MOLLE?
You wild man. I took a photo of an IED from very very far away. Ain't no way I was gonna pose with it lol
Guess that's a bit different than a mine tho
When lift
im just going to go for pizza cutters for now
255s 33s will clear on stock suspension
though i will need a new leaf pack, the truck actually sags in its current state
It was safe. I had pulled the crush wire and blasting cap out when I first found it. Pretty much no way to det it at that point. Also by this point I had been hit my multiple IEDs and either felt invincible or just ready to get it over with.
personally i really love my eberlestock packs
Badass
@muted lynx
https://www.wisport.com.pl/en/shop/raccoon-85/
Real question is where it's made
1.7 mil????
Appreciate the recs
What the hell is that currency

Looks like they’re polish according to the about section?
its a really funny way to write a $
holy fuck that is still a lot for a backpack... about as much as a decent-ish non-apple smartphone. like $400?
but hey, didnt know there was a premium backpack store in my country, will check rest of their stuff
lol they didnt translate the "about us" section but they did the main page...
looks like those guys are on Shot-Show Las Vegas every year
Polish
One of the best.
We use them in my unit in Israel.
The raccoon 85L is always sold out. I need another one
3D Printed DVL-10 Saboteur with custom paint job.
this actually looks rly sick
Very interesting to be quite honest, kind of sick
I'm quite curious of how the polymer 20 moa rail will hold zero
Unless it's just a toy, the bolt is looking quite plastic
Now hung up
Just a model so it doesnt shoot anything, i still have the files for it tho and i can probably make it airsoft as long as i use similar gear boxes of the ssg10 for example
Cool
Whenever you can please switch frames
The stock filbe frame is just horrendous
I want too honestly
I'm not sure how much I like the frame of this - and the waist
Best replace when possible
It doesn't feel great and it makes it look like my back is slouched when I'm wearing it due to the small gap between me and the ruck made by it
Idk what the Marine Corps was thinking but this shit is just horrendous for weight displacement
actually while I'm talking I do need frame recommendations - only other one I've got atm is a normal large alice frame
Also how much it flex’s too instead of staying sturdy
Malice frame or any Alice frame
There’s another that I’ll look up but honestly any metal frame is better
The only pack frame that will never let you down. Unbreakable. Modifiable. Military Tested and used for weekend warriors and unexplored places. Only 2.6 lbs and fits your pack. Pure metal and no injection molded polymer frame here - only FORTITUDE PACK FRAME by Frontier Resolve.
gotcha, I've got a large Alice pack from like around the late 80s + the M81 straps so I could probably put that on there temporarily if I tried
when I initially got this ruck I really despised that
and imo the straps don't stay tight, I've noticed they've loosened easily by movement
Just gotta ranger roll them with tape
gotcha
Also if you want max security as well as tightening, take the bottom straps and hook em with the flap buckles
Helps make the load more upright so it lies on the hips
understood, mine mostly just has camping stuff in it atm and some extra things that'll help with rucking so it's not too bad with the security of everything so far
Now all I need is a carl gustaf...
so an alice frame copy thats over twice the price?
see ive been rocking the large alice pack for a while but honestly if you want stupid large ruck with nothing but molle id go with a filbe with a molle 2 frame
Demand perfection
More information about Jääkäri XL from our website: https://www.savotta.fi/products/jaakari-xl
the only issue i can see with that is that the kidney pad is small and rather thin
i want more of a 3day size pack i think
i have a bigger one already, old cabelas brand bag, but has worked well and been all over the country camping lol
im gonna be honest its pretty thin the kidney pad that i have for my ruck is nearly 2" thick and wraps basically the whole way around my lower back
ive had smaller kidney pads and if your loading down a pack of that size with what you should be then it gets real painful after the first few hundred meters
never heard such an issue
how much weight do you normally put in that bag?
yeah but how much actual weight are you putting in that pack
I don't remember but whole kit is about 40 kgs
that includes rifle and armor though right?
okay yeah then our gear comes to around the same weight
what gear do you mean?
ruck rifle lbe and equipment
is it some standard issue or just your personal
my personal
are you out of the service now?
fucking oof
yes i agree
looks almost like salerno dz with all grass just everywhere
fryar
suprized they are still testing those we 82nd boys tested them for a while although i heard they had a multitude of issues
im with the ranger school in benning, we were doing cadre jumps
ah good ol benning
when i was in the line we got them as early as mid 2021
wild, we barely had them for short while
thats surprising considering 82nd always got the new stuff
Guccier ALICE shit is coming back, and I love it
Hot take me need Alice gear in takov
Also, how much you think I'll get from therapist for this?
Crossfire jungle rig☝️
Put together a new heavy set for stationary situations, IV plates with IIIa soft kevlar/aramid, took a buncha manual sewing
huh? 😄
The whole sleeve has soft armor sewn in
Whoever came up with that stupid idea has never suffered heat exhaustion
oh yea, neat, but Ragged got a point ngl
whenever im out there, i prefer to wear a chest rig and webbing just to ease off on the heat and weight, but if you in a machinegunner nest or expect shrapnel - grab a ton of kevlar/aramid
took an oldschool LBT type plate carrier and threw on a set, had to do a buncha sewing for the plates to hold bc the velcro was shit inside
Winter time - sure, but then again, not if you're an infantryman moving a lot
Overseas we constantly rolled our sleeves up a just a few inches up off our wrists just to get some form of air flow/relief. If those tops had been issued it would have been a joke and that shit immediately cut out. Not to forget it’s just another thing to limit movement when you’re already weighed down with 80#+ of equipment
