The problem with using an IR based head mounted system (aside from the fact you so obviously light up your exact location) is the delay between light coming in to the sensor on the cameras and the screen you’re looking at, where even a slight delay can cause severe motion sickness and disorientation when on the move.

IR is fine if you wanna sit and look at stars or for a scope but fov doesnt matter for this use so theres zero point in IR quads apart from larping in which case you can just buy or 3d print a casing and run around with that folded against your forehead.
