The big three:
Ap-20. kinda expensive without traders but it has good pen and extremely high damage since it's a slug.
Magnum buck. The leg meta round. Cheap as PS, power similar to a large train. Aim for legs and arms.
Flechette. Can be crafted in hideout so generally cheap. Aim for body because of good penetration, but make sure you aim for the center because the darts individually deal 25 damage so you want all of them to hit

I don't really think the trader rep with dailies ties with pre-wipe, that's a change that seems it'll be more permanent, especially if they add back in stuff like failing timed quests and shit and later tie rep with certain traders to AI factions and PMC karma. We're definitely reaching the end of the current wipe cycle though.
