Generally you want a gun with good pen, damage, and** fire-rate** to kill him so the 9x39 is great. Otherwise you wanna one tap his face with 7.62. Or you just leg meta him with a ham sandwich and some good ammo. Just make sure the magazine is huge.

Buddy I know you're ragebaiting, but I'll bite for a moment.
There is absolutely ZERO mention of this angle in game. There is absolutely ZERO reason that shooting the flare anywhere but the dirt should not work. This is a poorly implemented feature that has been very buggy in the past. The game tells you only one thing- This can be used to extract. There was an entire wipe where BSG gaslit the playerbase into thinking this mechanic worked (Klimov on streets) when in reality the feature was bugged and would kill you every single time. It took about 3 months of players testing the mechanic rigourously and failing every single time for a stealth patch, then another year for an apology.
