The person that has no idea what they have and list for dumb price because it’s an M1, scalpers that bought cheap from the CMP and immediately turn and list it for double the price or collectors that do fair market pricing to other collectors because they are aware of what things are actually worth

They immediately traded in their 03s upon departing Guadalcanal in Dec/Jan. 1st Raiders had M1s in their inventory for Guadalcanal but their commander, Edson, had been a comp shooter and marksmanship instructor for years on the 03 platform and was against changing to the M1 shortly before going into combat without enough time to fully train on it since his unit had formed using the 03. They were all phased out for front line combat units by early ‘43

Not sure about that model, but the Taurus Tx22 with the drop-in that makes it effectively full auto is actually really impressive.

One of the fellow RSOs at the range has a Tx22 setup like that. Blasts through a 25 round mag in about half a second, and is surprisingly controllable with a little practice. He let me try it, and I really enjoyed it. He puts about 1,000 rounds through it every weekend. Said it's holding up great, now with over 5K rounds through it.

Taurus are usually trash, but they did really well with that model. I wouldn't be so quick to snub it.

It's wild that my AR has almost the same sight picture as a rifle with a... 24" barrel? 26"? I forget what the Enfield No.4 Mk1 barrel length is.

AR has a Magpul MBUS Pro front sight. I gave it 3 layers of white base paint, then 3 layers of florescent red to make it pop like that.

Black irons are pretty difficult to pick up against the background.

Meh, it works really well. I would do target acquisition drills with my brother calling out targets. You get 2 seconds to hit the target, or "you're dead." Targets ranged from 200 yards to 450 yards, with targets every 50 yards. It's a lot of fun, and the time pressure really ramps things up.

Doing the drills with the Enfield is insanely fun. That rifle is such a pleasure to shoot.

I need to invest in some armor. My strategy so far is my dad's strategy when he was in Vietnam: "Don't let them ever get closer than 100 yards." Not a very realistic strategy in outer suburbs with lots of woods. Was more viable back when I was in the desert, and sight lines were a few miles in most directions.

Actually, I gotta invest in my own health more than anything. If war suddenly broke out, I could have all the top-tier gear, but I'd probably keel over trying to run in it, lol.

As the saying goes, "Ounces make pounds, and pounds make pain."

Optics are nice, but they sure do add a lot of weight to your setup. Big and drum mags are nice, but that's a lot of weight all in one spot. We used to play woodsball with paintball guns, and it's surprising how heavy a 6 lb gun gets even after 30 minutes without a sling, as you navigate woods.

Optics and extended mags also snag easily in woods. Makes lots of noise and leaves avoidable sign.

Leaving sign isn't that big a deal if hunting animals, but kind of a big deal if you're the one being hunted, and are attempting evasion.

All stuff to consider for your kit.

Copying standard military loadout is also not particularly bright if you aren't going to have others supporting you. The kit changes a lot if there's no buddies or support infrastructure.

And again, if you aren't fit, you're probably f'd.
