Yeah, there are no promo codes (or discount coupon codes) spread for players, and next possible promo spread will be Christmas, likely. Last time we had Trial keys (and early-supporters had promo codes) on X-day.
Trial keys is another story, but right now not distributed officially.
It's not inexpensive, but you can save expenses.

The way Activision guides COD developers is a lot like how Blizzard guides the WOW devs
They look at the markets in the current sphere and take elements from here and there and then implement them in their game with their own twist
A good example is the jump packs in COD that came from Titanfall suddenly getting really popular, and the specialist stuff that arose from OW hype
Thing is they were kind of shoehorned in - Advanced Warfare included the jump pack stuff after their major map designs were already done, and didn't really know where to go with it balancing guns wise, so it ended up as an imbalanced - albeit fun briefly - mess
