The tweet is believable, but still untested. I'm not familiar with how BSG interacts with the community in order to fix cheating exploits and if they reward those that find them by making them publicly known. eroktic didn't indicate BSG does the right thing here.

This might get patched, it might not. What's important is keeping players safe. This isn't drama. If you've heard what happened to From Software right before they released Elden Ring, that Dark Souls 1,2,3 on PC had an exploit publicly listed in the news that would allow those that wanted, to hack the physical computer of anyone else that is logged into any Dark Souls server. As a result From Software had to take down all DS PC servers for 9 months and invest resources to patching the exploit. But it was completley From's Fault and only got to the press due to them not investing more money into supporting those games. I think you get it by now and maybe feel this still sounds like drama.

I found out after that some rumor maybe 1/10 zero-day RCE exploits are identified by developers because they can be sold for $$$ to the highest bidder. Imagine for a second that From Software or BSG rewarded people with cash for bringing up major exploits in the network code that allow cheats. Big Software companies do that. Those same cheating exploits if handled properly could prevent something like what happened with Dark Souls. Plus it could reduce the number of cheaters in the game.
