Labs has many sound bugs which can explain what happened.

Another explanation is someone started shooting on your right BUT the guy who killed you was suppressed.

There are a few spawns that spawn towards dark offices and yellow stairs. When I spawn there I often run into one of those bushes, lie down, and get shots off at anyone pushing thru blue tents.

When there are many explanations for what happened it is best to just assume it was legit and move on.
